Summary
Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.
The measure of faith and the anointing
- God says something to each person: he gives every man a measure of faith, and the same holds for an anointing — what a person does with it is up to them.
- An anointing is not developed by study and reading alone; it is developed, and protected, by putting your hands to the work of God.
Hur holds up the hands of Moses
- In Exodus 17, Joshua fought in the valley while Moses watched from the hill; when Moses held up his hands Israel prevailed, and when he let them down the enemy prevailed, until Aaron and Hur set him on a stone and stayed up his hands, one on one side and one on the other, until the going down of the sun.
- Hur is mentioned only a handful of times in the Bible, with no record of where he came from, but when it was not convenient he stood and held up the hands of the man of God to ensure the victory — and that planted the seed of an anointing for his family.
- A few chapters later, in Exodus 38's movement, Hur's grandson was the man God specifically called to build: a wise man who worked in gold and silver and oversaw the construction of the most holy place — but it would never have come to pass if he had not put his hands to work and developed the anointing.
Scriptures: Exodus 17:10-12; Exodus 38
The seven who put their hands to work
- In Acts 6, the growing church had widows being neglected in the daily administrations, and the apostles would not leave the word of God to serve tables; seven men of good report, full of the Holy Ghost, were called out to do the work.
- The seven responded to a need that was presented to them. Stephen was one of them, and his sermon stands in the word of God because it was developed by working for the things of God.
- The unseen investments count: coming two hours early to set up, staying an hour or two late to take down — that is investing in your anointing, and you will never outwork God.
Scriptures: Acts 6
Protecting your anointing
- What we put our hands to molds how we think and act; what we do is who we are, and we are known by our work.
- You will see the mop and the vacuum many times before you ever baptize somebody or pray somebody through to the Holy Ghost; there is something about protecting your anointing.
- The preacher honors the elders of the church: when a need is presented, their answer is not 'somebody needs to fix this' but 'how can I fix this?' God has put an anointing in each life and in each soul, but it is up to us to develop it.
- His time ran out before the message was finished, and he handed the close back to the pastor.

thank you thank you brother hor for bringing us the word this morning thank you Pastor and sister Sloan so honored to be here so honored to have the opportunity to speak uh when when you look at the word of God you there there are certain there are certain things that are said uh certain things that are unsaid and when When God Says something he says unto each man he gives a Measure of Faith right so so when somebody's born they're GI a Measure of Faith now what they do with that faith is up to them right and I I think the same would apply with an anointing uh and and I I I'll show you why but in or I I'll I'll show you why I feel that way but in in the book of Exodus chapter 17: 10 uh through 12 we have a a An Occurrence happening the children of Israel fighting the the malachit and Moses is he's not fighting he's an older he's older he's the leader but he's not fighting he is just he's there for moral support and they they figure out he goes up on a hill watching the battle and they figure out when he lifts his hands that they win and then when he gets tired he puts his hands down because he's he's 80 plus years old at this point when he puts his hands down uh well they start losing and so somebody you know draws this conclusion and so Aaron and her is it and that's that's where we find ourselves at so in verse 10 it says so Joshua did as Moses had said unto him and follow the am Malachi with amalec and Moses Aaron and her went up to the top of the hill and it came to pass when Moses held up his hands the Israel prevailed and when he let them down amalec prevailed but Moses hands were heavy and they took a stone and they put it under him and sat and sat him thereon and Aaron and her stayed up his hands one on one side and one on the other side and his hands were steady until the going down of the Sun in this scripture there's a lot to focus on here but you'll find I I want to look at the man her I know that's I'm not I'm not going to preach about anything like that at all we're we're not we're This Is 2020 we're not digging into that today but th this this man whose name was Hur her he he's only mentioned a handful of times in the Bible and this point in time we don't we don't have much record on him we don't know what he's done we don't even know where he comes from ribonic tradition kind of has some theories on it but it's there's nothing real solid on where and what this guy was but we do find a few chapters later in verse or in chapter 38 we find his grandson Bic or ba Bazil I'm sor sorry bazel it's it's a strange name Hard One to pronounce but we find this guy that God specifically asked for him he'd given Moses the wildest details like I mean honestly these details are like if you ever ask Pastor what he wants to do with the church he's like well I want the carpet to be this granular and like you know these details he's got it all in his head down to this God had done the same thing with the temple he had been like he he had he had said you know everything's got to be this way this way and this way and he said Moses don't deviate this is the way I want it and he said get bazelle to build it now he was a wise man he was he we don't know what this guy done but we do know that a price had been paid years before we do know that that her had when it wasn't convenient when it wasn't something to that no one else was doing everybody else was doing something else they were doing a very vital piece but he stood on one side and he held the hands of the man of God to ensure Victory and and and what he done was he put a path he he he he basically he made the future for his family at that point that was the seed of anointing planted that that that was to flourish in ba in bazel in the most holy of holies this man was able to he was over the construction of the holy of holies The Mercy Seat all these things but it was something that was started years before but it would have never come to pass now just because it was planted in her it would have never come to pass had basiel not put his hands to work had he not been a man wise and given into understanding and how to work in gold and silver and how to craft things he would have never he would have never never been able to develop that anointing so this is today I'm I'm going to talk about just a little something and honestly ladies y'all can just go ahead put your ear uh your ear pods in all that I don't I don't know how this to to to apply this to a lady's life but this is something that has been applied to my life that a sermon from from and the the exactness of it no but the principles have been applied something I've learned from a from a small child and it's called protecting your anointing you see if we we we as a guy right we what we do is who we are basically in our being in how we think how we act what we do is who we are when we put our hands to work when we put our when we put our time in something we invest into it that's who we become like we're known as as a lawyer or as a judge or as an accountant or as a as a uh a lumber man or or as a carpenter or as whatever we're doing that's who we be that's that's kind of that's who we what we think like that's how we act that's what we put our hands to but you see or when we put our hands to something it molds how we think and how we act but in in in in Acts chapter 6 verse and we we come across a story of the disciples they're and the apostles they're studying and the church is exploding they're growing there's all kinds of things happening and they cannot do everything that has to be done there there is a there's there's a urgency in the people hey we we have widows that are being neglected true Widow us we we have people and things that need to be taken care of in the daily Administrations there there are just some things that need to be done and so Peter he he says call out get out seven young men full of the Holy Ghost good young men of good report and they're going to do this work he said we can't leave the word of God now this is a this is a this is another lesson in of itself but it's talking about the order the word of God is first and foremost these guys that's what they were to do but these the seven that responded Stephen included they responded to a need there was a need presented to them they weren't called out by Jesus on the on the after they were fishing they W to say hey follow me no this they had already been filled with the Holy Ghost but these guys had had had that anointing placed on their life and God God had a need in his church and he said I need someone to do this so what these guys did was they put their hands to work they went to house to house feeding those hous to house ministering and and and you don't you don't hear a lot about these guys oh well they just got to do the menial task yes that was what they were called they responded to a need they had an anointing that God had put on their life but there was something more they had to develop it they had to put their hands to work they had to put their minds to thinking this they had to put their souls to this and when we find that at Stephen Stephen he he was just one of these guys but we see that he gets an entire chapter his sermon is put into the word of God because of something that sermon wasn't developed just studying and reading by by itself but that sermon was developed by working for the things of God you see some of us we've we've we've dug into it all right and I want to I want to encourage you guys that's done this over the past few months we've seen it at a whole different level we' we've had to to come early two hours early to set up for church stay an hour two hours later to take down all that is is investing in your anointing I want to encourage you for a minute that's not going to you're you're that's going to repay 100 times you never you never you'll never outwork God I just I just I I you see these these investing in the things of God see those things are not seen by 99% of people th those those areas that that that coming early those things through the week are not seen and that's the point it's not to be seen pure religion and undefiled before God and the father is to what to to be with the widows and the fatherless in their Affliction you see widows and the fatherless are two two things that can't pay you back they you you can get no return from the fatherless and the widows but you're giving unto them wholly and completely out of yourself no return expected so when God puts an anointing on your life and he puts an anointing on your heart it doesn't develop and you're the next conference preacher it doesn't develop and you're all of a sudden a multimillionaire but it starts When developing when you say God I'm going to mop the floor I man this is a good shouting one isn't it God I'm going to vacuum God I'm going to God I'm going to paint the walls God I'm going to mow the churchyard God I'm going to be there before and turn on the lights God I'm going to make sure everybody if somebody locks up I'm going to it doesn't this is not this is not a shout and sermon but this is something that I know to be true that God has an anointing in your life but it's up to you to develop it it's up to you to protect it you see this mop up here you see this mop bucket right there that right there is that you'll see that a hundred times before you ever baptize somebody you'll see you'll see a vacuum cleaner a thousand times before you ever pray somebody through through the Holy Ghost there's something about protecting your anointing it'll never turn you un void turn void and I'm I'm my time's up but I I had something I wanted to bring out because they would never ever ask this okay but there are elders and so guys I want I want to I want to talk about somebody for just a second I'm not I'm not going to talk about Pastor and sister SLO because I I I honor and respect them and but they have a an anointing a calling these are brother brother and sister abdalah have been here for as for decades 200 years okay decades I don't know what calling God has put on their life but I can tell you what I've seen I've seen a need prepr presented and I've seen them feel it there are Elders guys young guys especially listen to me you never hear you never see you you you don't you don't hear anything except hey what can I do or hey it's not hey somebody needs to fix this it's hey how can I fix this see these are the elders we we need to be looking at guys because God has put an anointing in each life he's put an anointing in each soul but it's up to us to develop it Pastor if you would you clothes out clean up the mess I made made some people mad I know I'm sorry but guys guys guys especially ladies I told you just put your earbuds in I'm I don't know how to apply this to a lady's life but guys I know I know what it's like to have my heart and my mind in the wrong place and it's my turn to mow the churchyard and while I'm mowing the churchyard god gets a hold of me because I put my hand to doing something that he would have me to do guys don't underestimate pastor
