Consequences of the Anointing

standing for a few minutes i'm enjoying and rejoicing in the wonderful presence of the lord my message is basically affirming what we feel but going a little beyond and understanding the first time that i entered into a church service it feels the same way when i came into this service it's the same god yesterday today and forever has been incredible worship and prayer and just for a few minutes i will share my heart with you you may be seated in psalms 23 which is a very well known psalm of course i'm just going to extrapolate one one sentence or two thou preparest the table before me in the presence of mine enemies the emphasis is thou anointest my head with oil my cup runneth over understanding that when he is our shepherd and we make him our pastor we will not lack nothing i appreciate the sloans pastor sloan his family cornerstone apostolic church for being so kind to me and for your welcoming spirit and the invitation it's been very kind i i have been blessed by it and i learned during the time that i have been here and this morning i didn't want your class to stop when i was a student going to a university in the west coast it was uh after 20 years of age that i began to feel that tug that i had not felt before in that way when i graduated high school and for the yearbook they asked me to say a few words of what i would like to have everyone read what are your plans after college after high school so i said college and to learn as much as i can about life i had no idea the impact of those words but within a short period of time i began to feel a tug in my heart when people would talk to me about this man called jesus they would do it in the university setting they would do it when i would meet people here and there and that began to draw my attention more and more i do appreciate the lord putting us together and it's not a happenstance when we meet people here and there in the course of our life and i do appreciate the fact that he brings us together so that we can be better i can better myself and i can learn from others but more than that there is something that is uh given or transposed or shared not from a physical sense but from a spiritual sense when people love god there's something that emanates from them and i want to understand a little bit more of this this is just for me the other just a few weeks ago that i uh the lord gave me this for a church but i do want to say that there are in life whatever we do without the lord the consequences are very dire and very sad when we take uh time to think about the good things even in the human just the human aspect of it and to try to do something good we come to the place with that that paul found himself where he said i my intentions are good but then i end up messing up my intentions are good but i don't have the wherewithal to actually do what i intend to do or what i wanted to do because there's some good that i want to do but evil is present with me but there is a stopping point somewhere where we come to a road in in life and that's what happened to me in the early 20s and i came face to face with the the fact that there was someone called jesus that was inviting me to open my heart there was somebody that his name was jesus that was more than just a prophet more than just a man that died on the cross two thousand years ago but that he was real and he was he can be felt even now and and that intrigued me because i saw the response in others and then when i walked into church i felt what i feel today i feel there's a open openness the true love the acceptance the the uh the welcoming the the uh putting aside of any kind of prejudices and and presuppositions that we may bring into life but just a feeling of saying wow i belong here this is this is me this is this is what i wanted this is what i would hope for now in the book of exodus introduces us to the use of anointing oil the composition of the oil itself with directions for the use of it throughout the scriptures the anointing oil represents the touch of the divine upon someone or something god's selection of prophets and kings was demonstrated by the physical act of pouring anointing oil over the head of the candidate we see that in the scripture that we just read psalm 23. it began to take a little bit more and i uh of an understanding in my heart that uh the lord annoying anoints our head my head with oil when i read the scripture with before the lord i really did not understand i just looked at it as a physical sense but the oil is a symbolic representation of something that is spiritual the physical touch the physical anointing so for the few moments i just would like to share with you some of the consequences of the anointing in the new testament the practice continues with the anointing oil being used for praying for the sick as stated in the book of james it is associated with healing i don't know what all goes in my mind sometimes but there are some things that sometimes i i hope it would appear would happen but it doesn't happen the way i think when the lord called me i had no idea what i was going to confront all i need all i knew was that i was happy with my classical guitar practicing four to six hours a day staying away from people and then the lord called me and put the guitar aside then i had to deal with people there's something about that that there is no lone rangers in god's kingdom and the lord gives us something that the answer to our humanity to help us to be really human the way that he intends for us to be and this idea of anointing oil starts with the one who anoints and that is jesus christ when he was in the hu in human flesh he was about to start his ministry and he went to the temple as his custom was and he read from the scripture in isaiah and that said that says the spirit of the lord is upon me because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor he has sent me to heal the brokenhearted to preach deliverance to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind to set at liberty them that are bruised he came as the answer to the ale ales and the uh the woes of humanity because of sin and sin cannot be paid by any human being sin cannot be released by any human being if we do the wages of sin says the bible is death so if i want to get rid of sin myself i die and that's it and there's no hope beyond that so jesus came from his throne he came and he robed himself in flesh and he was the anointed one to preach the true gospel that humanity needed to hear that we needed the blood of the lamb to cover our lives so that we can eradicate sin from our lives hallelujah so the anointing the first consequence of that i know when i felt the anointing and the presence of the lord in my life was that i was free from the shackles of sin and i was able to look at people in with a freeway with a uh a liberty that i could say wow i can be myself i cannot i don't have to pretend to be somebody else but i know who i am and so the end of the search for my identity hallelujah was the beginning of my relationship with jesus christ of nazareth hallelujah i i stopped wondering i stopped being in conundrums hallelujah about my own identity hallelujah when the lord brought his anointing in my heart hallelujah there was a change that happened not because it was an artificial thing not because i wanted to go to a seminar or somebody was going to implement some kind of method hallelujah but there was a transformation in my heart hallelujah that the things that i used to love and i now hated and the things that i now that i hated i now love i could say freely praise the lord hallelujah whoa jesus so his anointing frees us from the shackles of sin you don't have to say like some have told me i'll go to church when i get uh myself fixed no sir you got it backwards you've got to come to church and get a hold of god and he will fix you hallelujah so now the lord is that spirit and where the spirit of the lord is there is liberty i can be truly free in the anointing hallelujah i don't have to bow to any temptation i don't have to say yes to the wiles of the devil in my life i don't have to bow to the flesh hallelujah i can go beyond now i can say my good intentions are going to be effective now because of the power of the anointing in my life hallelujah anointing thus protect protect us because the lord takes care of his own and the fears that we have are eradicated when love comes in that's true love and that anointing that breaks the sin and the shackles of sin we in other words we can be free to say yes i'm going to submit to sin or no i'm not going to submit to sin i have the freedom when i was without jesus i did not have a choice hallelujah i did not know i had no understanding and now with the anointing the eyes are open and we can know that we have a power and we have the liberty to be who exactly who god made us to be to say now hey i don't care what you say i'm going to raise my hands and i'm going to say hallelujah i'm going to say praise the lord i'm the thing is is that the anointing frees us and gives us liberty to be ourselves another thing that i realized i didn't know but because i shunned by spiritual new spiritual nature i shun things that i normally would would not bother me having had the holy ghost people would say this or invite me here invite me there and i would say oh no i can't do that nobody gave me a list of what to do what not to do there was something about the anointing that sets us apart from the world and from the desires of the world and helps us to understand that we don't belong to ourselves we belong to god hallelujah we are now his i am not my own i was purchased i was bought with a price and the price of calvary you can never put a price on the blood of jesus i belong to him and i don't know what the negative thoughts have been and it doesn't matter all i'm saying is that the lord takes away your fear the lord helps you to fee me free that's a consequence of the anointing hallelujah sets you apart so you can be used by god hallelujah and we see it not only in the example of biblical examples of samuel the prophet going to anoint by oil physical oil the next king of israel but i about being used i remember i had a very good lesson the lord gave me i was teaching at the university in the east coast getting my master's degree in music and i vowed when i went there i said i'm going to be careful not to say what my beliefs are i don't want to get in trouble because they're paying me and so i didn't say i was a christian i i taught classical guitar and a student came one day and said mr vitanza you're going to think i'm crazy for what i'm up i'm about to tell you when the student said that i took a step back and i looked for any kind of exits that i can run to and i said what is it you want to say and the student said last night god spoke to me my attention was there and i said uh what did god say to you and all of a sudden i was thinking i was saying lord i'm sorry i'm so sorry now this other person is going to come and share the gospel with me thinking that i'm lost i am so sorry i should have been the one to being the first and i was just repenting and the the student said uh he told me to give you two books and reached into a bag and and gave me two books and i thought i surely it's something that they want me to read so that i can be saved so that i can be converted so that i could be a christian and and so i took the books and then the title of each book in the title i cannot remember the title but it was very very shocking to me it was one book was about the spirit baptism and the other book was about the water baptism and i said what am i supposed to do with these two books and the students said you are supposed to tell me what they mean yeah morning prayers do work prayers do work i had no idea as i was developing my devotional life i i didn't i just went along with life and i didn't think well sometimes you feel good sometimes you don't feel so good sometimes you feel like where where is the effect and all that stuff uh and the lord doesn't work that way he wants us to build faithfulness to him he was he wants us to show that we are there in the thick of things when things are good and when things are not so good hallelujah are you gonna walk with me are you gonna talk to me you know do you have to see something do you have to see a miracle in order to cut the church where you're gonna be faithful to me and in the course of life this happened and it shook me and i i've it's never happened to me before nor since this was a major university the student i had no idea and then i said today i looked around i said i believe that i've got to set aside the lesson that we're supposed to do today so i taught the student a bible study that week the bible student came to church and that student walked in the church went into the end feeling the anointing raised the hands up and received the gift of the holy ghost don't tell me that speaking in tongues is not necessary don't tell me that speaking in tongues is not a sign and evidence initial evidence of receiving the holy ghost this is real hallelujah the anointing is the thing that the world needs and it starts with the church because that's how the church came to be was under the anointing of the holy ghost hallelujah and it sets us apart to do a work for god and everyone that is called has a ministry and yes it protects us protects us i can tell you how many times i've like whoa what just happened protects us from embarrassment and protects us from harm protects us from all kinds of things and it heals yes it heals there are times yes that people come and for whatever reason they're not healed but god is a healer we must believe the anointing heals i just need sometimes i feel like wait a minute god i i i maybe i have i've gone two thirds of the way and i didn't know that i just went two-thirds of the way but when he said give me your whole heart your whole mind your whole strength is everything in him when everything is in him in your life the miraculous will happen hallelujah the anointing will break the bonds of sin in your life will set you apart to do something for him and will protect you you don't have to worry hallelujah you don't have to worry really about the coronavirus hallelujah you just have to trust him trust him hallelujah trust him i know that uh for various reasons i not because of any fear anything like that but uh to to be an example i guess or i took the vaccine and then i read all this stuff about what the vaccine does or this thing can do and and i read maybe in three years i might not be around but you know what i'm not going to worry about that i'm just going to trust him he knows all what the dna and the rna and all that stuff is all about hallelujah and he can change and transform if he can change and transform the heart he can do anything there's nothing impossible with god just as the woman with the issue of blood had no idea that she was gonna touch an anointing hallelujah she went and she said man i just need i just need somebody's help and what i've heard about this man if he can if i can just touch but the head but the hem of her his garment i will be healed she had that faith and she was healed but what happened was that jesus said uh who touched me and those around him said wait a minute everybody's messing you know pushing you around what do you mean such who touched you he says yes virtue left me there's something about the anointing it's a consequence hallelujah it guides and teaches when you're under the anointing of god hallelujah nobody has to teach you really i mean you have you come to church you get fed by the word of god hallelujah faith is risen and yet you know when you're under the anointing you know when a lie is a lie and truth is truth first john 2 27 says but the anointing which you have received of him abideth in you and you need not that any man teach you but as the same anointing teaches you all things and is truth and is no lie and even as it had taught you you shall abide in him and that's what happens when i come to church when i wanted to go to his class god speak to me i know i know hallelujah when truth is preached i know when it hits the heart under the anointing of the holy ghost hallelujah and it provokes to good works it provokes to do the right thing hallelujah we have an unction of the holy ghost of the holy ghost and then hallelujah when i pray in tongues i i get uh strong in the faith in my faith my personal faith hallelujah i i don't have to blame other people i don't have to blame the pastor i don't have to blame the leadership i don't have to blame anybody i just know that god has given me an anointing for myself hallelujah that i can come and then appreciate what he's doing in the church hallelujah so he guides us and teaches us and what i uh there's a lot maybe i'm sure there's a lot of consequences but these are the things that i felt and the anointing empowers us to accomplish his will the bible says you're a chosen generation a royal priesthood a holy nation a peculiar people to do something to show forth the praises of him who have called you out of darkness into his marvelous light yes he's giving us ability when i didn't realize i had an ability when i felt like i was totally inadequate and i still do i remember one counsel i had from a pastor i went to him and i said uh brother i'd like you to help me i've gone to school i know how to study if you can guide me to some resources on how to teach how to preach man i would appreciate that and this this pastor he great preacher he he just leaned back a little bit and then leaned forward and he said well brother i don't even know how to preach myself i walked out i was befuddled i had no idea what that meant and as i walked to go out of the church building then i got the answer the answer is don't trust your own intellect don't trust your own learning don't trust your your resources the books that you read hallelujah lean on me lean on the anointing work with the anointing stay and abide under the anointing because it is him that does it it is god that speaks to the heart it is the lord that works with people and in seeking jesus with all our heart and mind and strength will have consequences that are positive in our lives he does free us from sin he does make us his own he brings us into family and it doesn't matter what your family like was like in in in the uh flesh but he brings us to a real family it is a real family and he gives us an identity he heals he protects he guides and teaches and empowers us to do what he asks us to do when he tells you to do something don't look for somebody to help you he will provide he is the provider if you will do and you will move hallelujah stay in the anointing and we will get the anointing by receiving the holy ghost hallelujah that is the anointing i need a fresh new touch from him today don't you he is the anointing that i need he is the one that empowers me to do what i need to do he is the one that guides me he is the one that makes me his own and he is the one that gives me the ability to say that's not me i am free from sin i am free from doing what the world wants me to do hallelujah that anointing is the thing that will make the make the difference and the difference is because of the consequence there are consequences and i will end with this example it's a real example we have a family in our church that years ago came to church and um the the twins were little the brother was they were little now the twins have a call one two missions one to the ministry and uh and the brother is doing fantastic in church the mother very consistent throughout the years years ago their dad came and the first time that he came to service he received the holy ghost it was such an experience that i believe that he had no idea what to do because he somehow we he never came back since in the last several you know this last couple of years of the during the times that we we've been experiencing this pandemic he has come and i approached him the other day and i said brother i know you were baptized by the holy ghost i baptized you in water but you never came back consistently i i sense what you fear is that god has something greater for you that you felt that he was calling you to and you were not ready to accept just keep coming because if you do if the anointing is going to break all that i believe that the lord has something great for him to do he just is a little scared to let some things go but god gives us the freedom and the ability to do that if we want to can we close our eyes and just raise our hands and say lord thank you for making me free thank you for your presence in my life and if you're new or you're visiting what you feel is the presence of the lord jesus he wants you to be in his anointing he wants to give you an anointing that is going to propel you to know what the kingdom of god is like and to work in his kingdom he is our lord he is our savior he is our king methods no strategies are gonna do the trick for you i'm just saying i'm here to tell you you need the anointing of the lord jesus because there will be consequences that you will rejoice about in your life and we worship him for a few moments holy is the lord the anointing of the lord come on somebody love him the anointing of the lord jesus jesus protect lead us jesus the plain path mourning of the lord leaders the anointing of the lord come on you want to stand in his presence come on stand stand in his presence the anointing right now touch your heart in your life come on let the anointing of the lord move in your life there's an altar that's open up here right now it's available to you jesus i need that anointing lord i i hunger for that anointing lord i thirst for that anointing lord that the oil of the lord touched my heart and my mind today oh come on that's right anointing of the lord cover me jesus cover my family cover my life cover my future jesus oh that's right come on in the name of jesus run after that anointing lord i'm coming to you i must have you i have to have you jesus hallelujah yes yes jesus yes holy god jesus jesus if you need the holy ghost it's here right now come on this altar is open lift your hands to the lord come on you need clarity in your vision right now the anointing of the lord can give you that come on you need joy in your life once again he can through the anointing joy could come that's right if you need a healing in your body come on the anointing and heal you right now in the name of jesus in the name of jesus in the name of jesus oh come on that tried in the name of jesus in the name of jesus in the name of jesus oh yeah come on go into his presence with praise right now i love you jesus i believe in you jesus i trust in you god i trust in you lord i trust in you yes i trust in you jesus holy god worthy god that's right in the name of jesus in the name of jesus in the name of jesus yeah yeah yeah jesus jesus holy god let the anointing of the lord be our guide jesus sweet jesus sweet jesus sweet jesus mighty god mighty god mighty god mighty god mighty god i love you lord jesus oh that's right come on love the lord open your mouth love the lord giving praise right now from your heart i i love you jesus i believe in you savior i believe in you jesus i believe in you jesus i praise your name great is your name jesus the consequences of the anointing the consequences the byproduct the purpose the reason the blessing the cause the anointing of the lord on his oil to the oil of the lord touches your life it changes you when the oil of the lord touches your heart it changes you come on if you're full of the holy ghost right now thank him for the anointing come on thank him for the anointing make it sincere make it sincere lord i thank you have changed me you have redone me lord you have remade me lord i am a new creature in you thank you for that yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah thank you for that jesus if you don't have the gift of the holy ghost and you you don't know what that anointing's like you can receive it right now faith can pull you to it right now lord i want to believe you for it i i need a new direction lord i'm tired of all the tiredness lord and the weariness i've given my life to you feel me lord touch me lord change me lord jesus are you thankful for the spirit of the lord today why don't you give him praise for and thank you for it jesus thank you jesus thank you jesus thank you jesus yeah i thank you lord i thank you jesus i thank you jesus i thank you jesus
