Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

The Text: A New Cart and a Dead Man

  • He reads the passage entire, second Samuel the sixth chapter from verse number one: David gathers thirty thousand chosen men of Israel to bring up the ark of God, they set it on a new cart out of the house of Abinadab, and at the threshing floor Uza puts forth his hand to take hold of the ark when the oxen shake it, and God smites him there for his error and he dies by the ark of God.
  • He finds two violations in the movement of the ark: it was carried by an ox cart where the law required it be carried by staves on the shoulders of the men of Levi, and Uza touched the ark, which violated Numbers 4 and verse 15, the penalty for which was death.
  • The ark had already spent 20 long years in the house of Abinadab after the Philistines captured it and passed it through Ashdod, Gath and Ekron under the anger of God before sending it back on a cart of their own; David, now king, copied the Philistines' method instead of God's instructions.

Scriptures: 2 Samuel 6:1-7; Numbers 4:15

The How Is Important

  • David adopted the ways of others: the how made no difference to him as long as the job got done, but when God states the how, the how is important; God told Moses to speak to the rock and Moses smote it instead, and though the water came, Moses had violated God's word.
  • The how of praise is specified too: sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs, as Ephesians 5 and 19 directs; a new cart is not all right just because somebody means well, and what another youth group is doing does not settle it.
  • Young people pattern their lives after people who are up one day and down the next, in the choir one month and pouting over the rules the next; but the ox is going to hit a bump in the road one day, and if they are not doing it God's way somebody is going to die in the process.
  • God's ways are higher than man's ways and his thoughts higher than man's thoughts; David lacked respect for God's divine authority, and there would have been no new cart if he had put the ark on the priests' shoulders where God said.

Scriptures: Ephesians 5:19

Respect for God's Authority and His House

  • This generation demands an explanation for everything before it will abide; sometimes we need to start living some things and quit asking God why about every single thing, because God's way always works.
  • The house of God deserves respect from every young person; it is not a place to finish homework or watch a phone while the man of God is preaching what God gave him.
  • He was raised that way: three little boys on the front row while his dad played the guitar and led song service and his mom played the organ, who did not move for fear of God because his dad put the fear of God inside of them, clapping whether they understood why or not.
  • His children are fifth generation Pentecost, and the young people watching matter: there are young kids at church back home watching every move the older youth make, whether they are involved in the service or not.

One Plan of Salvation, Carried the Proper Way

  • There is one Lord, one faith and one baptism; there is one plan of salvation, and a person must be born again of the water and of the Spirit; somebody has got to carry the message the proper way and not let it lay down and die for 20 years.
  • His own mother's rule for the girl every boy in the Christian school wanted to date was the plan itself: you can go out with her if she has repented, been baptized in Jesus name and filled with the Holy Ghost; otherwise invite her to church, or to camp meeting.
  • She came to camp meeting, stayed because her phone could not get a signal, and by the end of it she repented of her sins, was baptized in Jesus name that Sunday night, and God filled her with the baptism of the Holy Ghost; 31 years later she has raised three wonderful children and adopted three more, and they are all going to be apostolic because God's got a plan.

Good Intentions Do Not Excuse Disobedience

  • An action may seem necessary and yet be wrong: if Uza had adhered to the law of God, the Lord would have taken care of his ark; if a thing is against the statutes and the laws of God, keep your hands off of it.
  • Cain perhaps had good intentions but Cain was wrong; King Saul may have meant well but he disobeyed God; Saul of Tarsus was sincere in persecuting Christians but he was disobedient; any work that does not conform to the will of God is sinful regardless of one's intentions.
  • God said set no evil thing before thine eyes, and the screen of a phone in the service is where that law is broken daily; casual worship has done nothing but kill people, and casual worshipers are the ones who bring the world's traditions into the church and call it worship.

Noah Did It God's Way

  • He reads in Genesis the sixth chapter from verse number 13, God's own specifications to Noah: the end of all flesh is come before me, an ark of gopher wood, its length, breadth and height, the window and the door and the three stories, the flood of waters, the covenant, and two of every living thing brought in to keep them alive.
  • Then he singles out Genesis 6:22 as one of the most astounding verses he has read in six months: thus did Noah, according to all that God commanded him, so did he; and when the rain came he and his family were saved.
  • The difference between David and Uza on one side and Noah on the other is specific orders: one did it the way the heathens did it and lost a family member, and what works for the heathens does not work for God's chosen people, called out, separated, baptized in Jesus name, repented of their sins.
  • Four days earlier he stood at family graves: his great-grandfather William Reese Garnett did it his way, left the church and died at 42; his grandfather Garnett did it God's way and died praising God from a recliner in the sanctuary; his own father, dead since the preacher was 13, used to walk three little boys to that grave every Father's Day to teach them the difference.
  • He closes with the choice: be a David who wanted to do it his way and lose somebody, or a Noah who will get the gopher wood however high it is and do it God's way, because this is to the salvation of our family.

if you have your bibles this evening i want to turn the second samuel the sixth chapter and i'll begin reading it verse number one second samuel the sixth chapter in verse number one again david gather together all the chosen men of israel thirty thousand david rose and went with all the people that were with him from baal of judah to bring them up from thence the ark of god whose name is called by the name of the lord of hosts that dwelleth between the cherubims they set the ark of god upon a new cart and brought it out of the house of the minidab that was in gibeah and uza and ohio the sons of abinadab drave the new cart they drave it out of the house of abinadab which was at gibeah accompanying him the ark of god in ohio went before the ark david and all the house of israel played before the lord on all manner of instruments made of fur wood even on harps and on salt trees and on timbrels and on cornets and on cymbals when they came to naked's threshing floor uza put forth his hand to the ark of god and took hold of it for the oxen shook it and the anger of the lord was kindled against zuza god smote him there for his error and there he died by the ark of god i want to minister tonight to our hearing this simple subject god's way god's way let's pray together father i love you and i praise you i glorify your name jesus in this place and i ask you lord that you would send out of your presence in this sanctuary lord and speak to a young person's heart pray lord that you touch a young person's life tonight let them i ask lord this evening find strength encouragement in this house we'll give you lord all the praise and all the glory and honor for it in jesus name we pray amen turn to somebody and shake their hand and tell them god's way you may be seated this evening again david gathered together all the chosen men of israel the bible refers and said they were thirty thousand and david arose and went with all the people that were with him from bell of judah to bring up from thence the ark of god and they set the ark upon a new cart and brought it out of the house of abinadal which was in gibeah and uza and ohio the sons of abinadab drove the cart and they came to nakhon's threshing floor and uza put forth his hand to the ark of god and took a hold of it for the oxen shook it and the anger of the lord was kindled against us and god smote him there for his era and there he died by the ark of god we find here two violations of the old testament law that took place in the movement of the ark of god the ark was carried by an ox cart this was first the violation of the old testament requirement that the ark be carried by staves and placed upon the shoulders of the men of levi the family of cohab ooza touched the ark and this violated numbers 4 and verse number 15 the penalty for which was death more than 20 years had elapsed since the philistines had captured the ark of the covenant in their defeat of israel they carried it to ashdod where they suffered the destruction of god's anger such punishment caused them to send the ark to gath but they soon realized that this pleasure of jehovah and sent the art the ekron who suffered the same consequences out of desperation the philistines decided to make a new cart and sent the ark to bashamus and i also experienced the anger of the lord and they asked the men to come to get the ark the ark of god remained in the house of abinadab the father of uza in ohio for 20 long years david after he became king determined to move the art to jerusalem he totally ignored the instructions of god regarding how to move the ark and copied the method of the philistines using a new ox cart things seemingly went well until the procession arrived at nakan's threshing floor at ooza touching the ark to stay it and there he passed and he was dead the ark was left in the house of obadium for three months before it properly moved to jerusalem and tonight i just want to get us to see a few lessons we can learn from david's new cart and oozes presumptuous act davis blunders first was david adopted the ways of others philistines moved the ark on an ox card and david patterned his mode of transportation after theirs apparently david thought the how made no difference as long as you get the job done but the how is important when god states the how god told moses to speak to the rock and the water would come forth but moses smote the rock instead water came forth abundantly but moses violated god's word the how was most significant children can be brought into this world outside of marriage but god designated the same sanctity of marriage as the how noah was built an ark out of gopher wood he obeyed the how we are to offer a praise unto god the how has been specified he told us to sing psalms hymns and spiritual songs in ephesians 5 and 19. some would have us to believe that any kind of music we offer god is acceptable as long as we are sincere in other words a new cart is all right as long as you mean well it's not i said it's not i don't care what the other youth group is doing 45 miles from where you attend church if it's contrary to god's way it is not the how i prayed i have fasted i have prayed i have fasted for these meetings i am i have prayed god help me lord help me i don't i don't want to offend anybody i definitely don't want to come off as rude but i do want to give you what god give me god is a perfect gentleman and he's not rude so i don't think i'll get out of line tonight and if i do i have two men sitting right over here to my left that have put me straight in order but too many times we find ourselves as young people trying to take our life and pattern it after people who are up one day and down the next day men and women young people in our lives at one week they're running the aisles and the next week you wonder if they're even apostolic one month they're in the choir the next month they're sitting out or they're pouting because of some rules and some statutes that they don't want to obey and lean to anymore they're in one day they're out the next day and many of you young people that sit here tonight come down faithful to the house of god and you lift up holy hands in the sanctuary and sometimes you leap when you don't feel like leaping and sometimes you pray in the prayer room when you don't feel like praying in the prayer room and and you see and it seems like they're just living a great life but i'm going to tell you ladies and gentlemen the ox is going to hit a bump in the road one day i said the ox is going to hit a bump in the road one day and if they're not doing it god's way somebody is going to die in the process we don't need to pattern our worship out of the world we don't need to pattern our songs after the world oh god help me david tried to improve on the ways of god instead of carrying the ark the way god had instructed he devised his own method you should have known that god's ways are higher than man's ways and his thoughts are higher than man's thoughts we find this clearly reflected in their books and disciples and they have sold intensely to improve the worship mission and doctrine of the first century church many denominations are doing their best to try to improve this but this doesn't need any improvement david lacked respect for god's divine authority there would have been no new cart to carry the ark if david had respected the authority of god put it on the priest's shoulders we live you live young people in a generation that everybody has to be explained every single thing how does electricity work well you cut on the light switch everybody wants an explanation for everything why did god say this and why did god say that and i'm not going to abide unless i understand everything why why why why why sometimes we need to start living some things and quit asking why to god about every single thing because god's way always works let it not be said of this youth group in the tri-state district that it was 20 long years before the presence of god move let there be some young people that know how to move the presence of god in this modern day generation let there be some apostolic young people that realize they're apostolic not ashamed to be apostolic but are proud to be apostolic praise god look at your neighbor and say i'm proud to be apostolic not only do i know my gender i know i'm a male apostolic not only do i know my gender but you know you're a female apostolic i can't help what some folks are doing and how they're falling off of the cart that they built but you apostolic young people in the tri-state district need to hold it up higher than it's ever been lifted before and allow god to give you a revival like you've never had before i'm telling you if god said it you need to do it don't be ashamed to hold your head up high young men and be apostolic young men no don't hold your head down in shame young ladies hold your head up high and be proud to be apostolic young ladies let the world say what they want to say we're not waiting 20 years to get this thing moving we know how to move it and we're going to keep it moving until the lord comes praise the name of god the how is important respect for god's authority is important we must respect the authority of the lord jesus christ we must respect the house of god this is a house of worship i'm gonna tell you how important the house of god is i'm getting away from my nose this could be really good or really dangerous i'm gonna tell you how important the house of god is it's not a place where you finish your homework on wednesday night while your man of god is preaching what god give him i'm going a few years back i know my age is about to show you didn't bring your devices in the house of god i can't imagine being raised with my mom and dad having cell phones and me at eight and nine years old having a cell phone and them looking over at me while my grandfather's preaching and i'm watching the final four not only would my phone be broke but my jaw would have been broke too you know why because they understood when we walk through these doors all 35 sets of them when we walk in this sanctuary this is the house of god and god deserves respect from every young person we can't have a move of god if we don't get back to what he said we need to be there's pastors praying for revival they ain't got time to preach sermon after sermon for you young people to be right live holy dress right act right talk right you want to just do it because god requires it out of you you want to just be who you are come on are there some apostolic young ladies that shout are there some apostolic young men that lead for joy is there anybody in the house that wants to do it god's way god's way god's way you may be seated i was born and raised in this apostolic truth thank god every day for it my children are fifth generation pentecost and i'm thankful that i was able to give them that heritage but as a small little boy with two twin brothers we all sit on the front row dad played a guitar and led song service and mom played the organ in the sanctuary i know it's hard to believe they had three little kids and they set us on the front row we didn't move for fear of god we move for fear of dead because dad put the fear of god inside of us we could go and do and play and have a good time but when it come to the house of god he said when we walk through those doors you're going to respect what's going on whether you understand it or not you're going to you're going to clap your hands whether you know why you're clapping or not we didn't understand at the moment but he was training us you young people that are here there's some young kids at church back home that watches every move you make they're seeing if you're involved in the service or you're not involved with the service they're seeing if you love what you're doing or you don't love what you're doing i say god get a hold of our heart tonight tomorrow and it calls us to go home and be what god has called us to be i want to do it the way god wants me to do it i want to have a powerful impactful youth group i don't want to be constantly worrying about am i going the wrong direction i don't want to constantly worry about if this is the way god would have me go if this is what i need to be doing if this is how i need to be worshiping every promise in this book is for our lives this is a manual for us to get to heaven if you want to know how to live it's all right here in the book if you want to know how to worship it's all right here in the book the bible says clap your hands all your people and shout unto god with the voice of triumph praying it's right here in the book being faithful is right here in the book it's god's way god's way gets results when nothing else will god's way will bring healing when nothing else will god's way will bring deliverance with no form of any kind of class will god's way will bring a marriage back together when nothing else will gotta take a suicidal teenager god's way will put them in the right mind headed in the right direction god's way always works god's way always works look at your neighbor and tell them i'm glad to be apostolic we're going to leave these next two days glad to be apostolic not ashamed to be apostolic it's god's way there's one lord one faith and one baptism there is one plan of salvation and you must be born again of the water and of the spirit peter said unto them repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of jesus christ for the remission of sins we don't need to let the message lay down and die for 20 years somebody's got to carry it the proper way somebody's got to carry it the proper way let them call you old-fashioned it's god's way let them call you homely it's god's way let them call you what they want to call you it's god's way god's way will turn your family upside down god's way will cause your father to come back to the lord god's way will cause your backslidden mother to come to church on easter sunday and give her life to jesus christ god's way god's way will put the right young man or the right young woman in your life that'll love you and love your god and serve your god and raise your family in the house of god i'm preaching to some young people that i believe was in god's way i'm preaching through some young people that i feel like won't say god's way god's way i'll tell you how important it is it's important in every aspect of our life god's way you do it god's way to work i remember in our christian school back 33 years ago a young lady walked in our christian school she came in and she caught the eye of every young boy in the school and every young guy started asking her out they didn't get a date with her so they challenged me to ask her out almost like i bet you can't go out with her so i asked my mother first and my mother said no you don't ask her out she said she's not in the church i just lost some of you we just hit the bump in the road here we go hang on hang on don't die yet don't touch it yet so i went to my mother first my dad been off the scene for a few years by now and i went to her first and i said can i ask her out and she said absolutely not she's not apostolic she didn't even bat an eye didn't quit didn't quit mixing the biscuit they didn't buy the eye they didn't even think about it didn't pray about it didn't go on a four-day fast didn't run around the church ten times and say i'm gonna give you an answer she said no she said you want to invite her to something you invite her to church i said well mom you know she really ain't gonna come to church she ain't wanting him girl she said that's why you ain't going out with her so i said the only way i can go out with her she said only you can go out with her she's got to be repentant baptizing jesus name filled with the holy ghost i said there's a lot of stipulations you're putting on this thing she said it's the only way it's going to work for you because i didn't raise you just to marry anybody and end up anywhere i raised you as an apostolic young man and god's got a divine purpose for you and tonight that's what god wants to tell every young person there's missionaries in this service there's evangelists in this service there's pastors in this service and if you're doing god's way you won't hit a bump in the road and lose your own life because casual worship has done nothing but kill people time and time and time and time again i said so what am i supposed to invite her to she said well the next thing on the list is count meeting i said that wouldn't be somewhere i want to take her so i did i invited a camp meeting it was amazing she said yes and i thought you don't know what you're going to you don't have a clue this is where this is where the crazies of pentecost go to count meeting they take off a week of work and go down to four casual down by the coast and they swim and uh uh i mean they swim in their attire i mean back years ago we swim in t-shirts and jeans bro mccool we like that we didn't swim we we almost drowned when we went out there but we we did our best now they've come out with some stuff a little bit lighter and makes it a whole lot more enjoyable and so i said that that's not a place to invite her but she said yes so i took her to camp meeting first night that's right the first night i'm playing a set of drums and this lady comes down the side i was shouting and she was she was a well she was a lady she come down the side i was shouting and she fell and she took out my whole set of drums everything but a high hat and a snare it was gone tore up i mean out of there folks got to shout and i watched that young lady get up and walk out and she went out and she tells a story a few days later she said i went out with my cell phone flip phone she said i was trying to call my mama come pick me up these people are crazy she said the only reason i couldn't get through is because i couldn't get a signal thank god for verizon that's all i got to say praise god so she stayed that count meeting and by the end of that count meeting god got a hold of her life and she walked to an altar that count meeting and she repented of her sins she went back home that sunday she was baptized in jesus name that sunday night god filled her with the baptism of the holy ghost 31 years later sister beth garnett has raised three wonderful children and she's adopted three more and they're all going to be apostolic because god's got a plan i said god's got a plan for you sis god's got a plan for you brother god's got a plan for you young person you can't let the devil mess it up with a bunch of people that want to halfway live for god that want to halfway serve god they want to halfway give their life to god that just want to show up and count meetings just want to show up at a youth of end but they want to live like the world the rest of the time get the presence of god off the cart and get it where he belongs get him where he belongs get him where he belongs we don't have time to wait for 20 more years for god's presence to move we need god's presence to move right now man i feel the holy ghost in this place tonight we don't need to wait we don't need to wait till our district superintendent brother mccool steps up and begins to pray and give god a wave offering we need some young people in this place tonight that know how to carry the presence of god we don't need to wait to brother whitley gets up here and begins to pray over us we need some young men that get out in the aisles and say i know god's way i know what he wants out of me i'm going to do what god asked me to do i'm going to be what god asked of me to be quit trying to impress everybody around you young person and just worry about jesus christ when the pastor preaches shout amen when the pastor preaches something you may not agree with shout a man anyhow don't just get with him when you're hearing what you want to hear and don't leave the church when he calls you in and says i'm a little worried about you because you're you're leaning toward the world and you're not leaning toward god's way don't get upset and try to put god on a new card because god ain't going to stay on a new cart my god i'm telling you it's burning inside of me ain't nothing but the devil in these last days trying to rip our identity trying to take the ways of god away from us young men and young ladies trying to take every bit of godliness and faithfulness and holiness that was ever preached by by men of god one man that's not here tonight that was a district superintendent of this district for many many many years bishop bishop mccool i'm telling you ladies and gentlemen preached it for many many years built a church in knoxville tennessee on this apostolic holiness faithful message well i feel it coming up i just will go with it you can get on board now you can fall off later but the bottom line is we're in a church in maryville tennessee this church was established on the apostles doctrine this church by pastor kenneth carpenter holiness faithfulness righteousness obedience is all preached in this poor pit look around you tonight this house is full on any sunday morning just like it is in knoxville and for those of you that are here that tell you you have to let go of god's way to fill a building no you don't as a matter of fact if you're apostolic and you let go of it god ain't gonna let your building feel because he may let the philistines get by with it but he ain't gonna let his people get by with it somebody somebody showed me a video the other day and and i was like well what is this and they told me and i said well what are they supposed to be all up on platforms wearing jeans with holes in them i had jeans with holes in them when i was a kid yes when the tractor ripped them when i was cropping tobacco now you paid big money for jeans with hole in them i'm going to tell you got ball caps on the platform with their shirts button way down here somewhat i shall not want no you shall not do what god asked you to do because if you do what you asked god to ask you do you take that hat off your head you'd button up your shirt you get some britches on with no holes in them thank you god bless you you may be seated and you do it god's way it may float with the philistines but it ain't gonna float amongst god's people you can't have an apostolic revival allowing the trends of the denominational world the creeping and to the church i'm talking to some young people tonight who are apostolic the world is pulling on you the world wants you to compromise the world wants you to give in but you need to stand up and shout again and praise him again and let him know we're not going back we know how to carry the cross yeah you may be seated this isn't about your granddaddy's church this isn't about your great-granddaddy's church this is about god's church god's going to have a people that have made themselves ready so one one of the sons touched the ark to try to steady the ark there's a few things we can learn from him as well a little thing in men's eyes may be may be a great thing in the eyes of jehovah can you believe that god would strike him dead but just trying to steady the ark yes i can because his word said don't touch it set no evil thing before thine eyes that means nothing don't let it come off that screen of your phone and get in your mind cause if it gets in your mind it'll plague your mind come on young people that man of god that studied two or three days to get one sermon to deliver in 30 to 45 minutes to a group of people that may not be half the size of this or a quarter size of this the last thing he needs you to do is have a phone in your hand and scroll on facebook while he's up there preaching come on come on come on brianna brianna i'll preach to my family come on brianna and nate olivia luke your dad don't need to be preaching and you're posting facebook facebook posts on come on musicians where's all them apostolic young voices that sun the glory of god down and all these wonderful musicians your talents great but if you're always on this and you won't hear the word of god you're just going to end up being someone who loses their spirituality in the end well we hear about this all the time one of the greatest messages you've ever heard in your life about this right here was preached at national youth convention by your national youth president we hear about this all the time you know why you hear about this all the time because it's sending more young people and adults straight to hell every single day because it's violating what god said you should put in front of your face somebody better dig a little bit deeper somebody better get a little bit deeper in this and find out how god is going to work somebody better get a little bit deeper in this and realize what god is going to do well i don't know what the big deal is you may be seated i don't know what the big deal i don't know why pastor is making such a big deal out of it i'm going to tell you why because god said thou shalt not and he sees the future before you can see it he can see your future of you staying in god's house and you're living for god through your teenage years and whenever god decides to put you in with you with that spouse that you two become one and you become a dynamic team whether you're the sunday school superintendent or you're are you head of the bus driver uh committee or whether you clean the church or whether you keep out the lawn outside or whether you evangelize or whether you're a missionary it's all important and god sees that and your pastor sees it and when little things that you think are little things begin to creep in and he addresses them by the word of god by the word of god he's doing it for your own good whenever you push the man of god and the word of god away you're saying i don't want god's plan i want to do it like i want to do it you'll be seated we evangelized years ago brianna was a year and a half when i first pulled up here and preached one of my first sermons in maryville tennessee it was at a master youth rally on a friday night i remember it like it was yesterday she was a year and a half old sister guardian dressed her the way a young lady should be dressed and i'll never forget in a revival service one night a woman approached my wife and brianna now is about two and a half years old and she said why do you put such long skirts on her now if your church don't teach this don't worry about it why do you put such long skirts on her my wife said because she's a young lady she said well that really don't matter now my wife looked at her and said if it don't matter now it won't matter later too many folks are dying because people are trying to change the ways of god too many people are wondering why is there such a such a such a a dying sense of urgency amongst the youth departments well i i don't understand why this was left and i don't understand why this one's left and i don't understand why this one's that it's because a lot of things amongst our youth department is not important anymore who's singing tonight who's singing solo is the choir singing what group's coming in i thank god for singing and we need it and it's biblical but we need to love this more than we love anything else that takes place in one service not so much the messenger but we need to love this with all of our heart soul mind and strength because we can't wait 20 years for the presence of god to fall we've got to have him now the trump of god is about to sound the lord is soon to return if we're going to have a revival we got to have it now and our revival's hinging on you young people in the tri-state district to get it right now i said you got to get it right now an action may seem necessary as as and yet be wrong it appeared that isa that unless he reached forth his hand to stay the ark it would topple off onto the ground however if usa had to adhere to the law of god the lord would have take taking care of his ark it may seem necessary sometimes but if it's against the statutes and the laws of god keep your hands off of it you're too precious to go messing with the things of the world too many people have invested in you god has filled you with his spirit there's too much at stake for you young people in the tri-state district to go outside these doors and spend more time in the things of the world than you do in the things of god we are dependent on you there's a group of middle age and older adults that are dependent on you young men and young women that stand up more than you ever had before and understand we've got to do it the way the book says do it this is not a brother carpenter message this is not a bishop mccool message this is not a district superintendent message this is god's way and we got to do it god's way we've got to do it god's way you maybe see the musicians are coming good intentions do not excuse disobedience who could question ooze's intentions of trying to protect the ark but though trying to do what he thought was good he disobeyed god cain cain perhaps had good intentions but cain was wrong king saul may have met meant well but he disobeyed god saul of tarsus was sincere in persecuting christians but he was disobedient any work or function that does not conform to the will of god is sinful regardless of one's intentions you must not expect to help god's work by measures which god forbids it is most presumptive on man's part when he thinks that he can improve upon god's scheme of things by self-devised inventions this is how the roman heresy was developing how all manner of innovations got into the church god's way was considered insufficient so changes were made to satisfy human ambitions and carnal appetites usa acts serves as a warning against situation ethics we are not left to our own discretion as to how the law of god should be administered the lord speaks and we are to hear he commands and we must obey cannot afford to be a casual worshiper if you are you can easily be spotted these are the ones who constantly consistently try to bring the world's traditions into the church and try to call it worship casual worshipers grumble and complain find fault and rebel against holiness all and so many others die because of their good intentions genesis the 6th chapter verse number 13. god said unto noah the end of all flesh has come before me for the earth is filled with violence through them and behold i will destroy them with the earth an ark of gopher wood runes shalt thou make in the ark and shall pitch it within and without with pitch this is the fashion which thou shall make of it the length of the ark shall be 300 cubics in the breath of it 50 cubics and the height of it 30 cubics the window shall thou make in the ark and in the cubic shalt thou finish it above and the door of the ark shall thou sit in the side thereof with lower second and third story shalt thou make it and behold i even i do bring a flood of waters upon the earth to destroy all flesh wherein is the breath of life from under heaven and everything that is in the earth shall die but with thee will i establish my covenant and thou shalt come into the ark thou and thy sons and thy wife thy sons wives with thee and of every living thing of all flesh two of every sort shall i bring into the ark to keep them alive with thee thou shall be male and female of fowls after their kind and of cattle after their kind of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind two of every sword shall come unto thee and keep them alive and take thou thee of all food that is eaten and thou shalt gather it to thee and it shall be for food for thee and for them david after the ark was passed down from one heathen nation to another 20 years later says i want to take it to jerusalem and he proceeded by moving it the way that he even moved it and god said no and in the process of moving it the way the heathen was moving it he lost a family member god says i'm sick and tired of this world i'm disgusted with the wickedness that's all around i repented that i even made man or woman i'm going to do away with it all but noah found grace in the eyes of god god comes to noah and he speaks to him what i just read i know it's a boring reading about the ark and the length of it how many stories there would be in the window that would be placed and exactly where the window would go and where the doors should go and and this was going to happen and you had to have the exact amount of wood and it had to be a certain kind of wood gopher would i want you to do all this and if you do all this your family we'll be saved one of the most astounding verses in the last six months that i've read in the bible for me is genesis 6th chapter and verse number 22. the chapter ends this way thus noah thus rather did noah according to all that god commanded him so he did and when the rain came he and his family were saved what is the difference in david and oozes and noah and his family the difference is god had specific orders for each one one tried to do it the way the heathens did it and what works for the heathens does not work for you young people you are god's chosen people called out separated unknown and filled heaven apostolic tongue talking baptized in jesus name repented of your sins walking daily before god that's who you are you're a noah for my generation you're a noah for my generation that's going to take god's word and do it specifically in order that's who you are you didn't walk in here tonight get your head up you're a noah for this generation raise your head up high it's going to be said of you thus dead nolan carpenter it's going to be said of you thus did zach hammond it's going to be said of you thus dead nate roberts it's going to be said of you thus dead olivia garnett it's gonna be said of you young people that are in this house tonight brother anthony mccoy is gonna be said of you thus did anthony mccoy i got faith in you i know you're gonna get us to where we need to go i know the trump is not going to sound with a small group of people i know you're going to take us where we need to go for the last two years your church your pastor whether you know it or not your first family have fought battles that they have never fought in the history of the church's existence coming out of it then you realize who was really dedicated and who really wasn't who was implementing god's way and who wasn't so you as young people you hear me tonight you don't hear nothing else you as young people have watched people leave your assemblies that you never thought would leave some of you are here tonight and you came on this first night questioning god's way questioning god's way well is is this really necessary well pastor requires it for you to sing in the choir but is it really necessary and because of a couple of years or a few months of in-services and out of services and archive services i was somewhere the other night trying to watch an archive service and i looked at my wife beth and i said this is what saints have been doing for months you don't sit down and watch an archive service you know half what's going on people are lost you as young people have seen good men and women some that taught you in sunday school some that were there and anointed you when they prayed over you and dedicated you as a child you see them go and even they scream they scream from other places of worship that that you're doing is not necessary but it may be all right for the heathen but it's not all right for you it may be all right but somebody in this last days got to find grace in the eyes of god if there's going to be anybody saved somebody among us tonight has got to find grace in the eyes of god i'm sorry i i i'm sorry to get a little personal tonight but four days ago i left and went to a grave my family didn't know where i was you'd be seated if you like i went to a grave used to be a grave now it's graves i went to visit my media family first grave i approach was the one i approached brother erickson as a boy william reese garnett i didn't know reese he was my grandfather i knew that at one time he was baptized in jesus name filled with the holy ghost that's all i do know and this story i'm about to share every father's day for the years i can remember and i was young when my dad passed i was only 13 my brothers were nine but every year i could remember a father's day when my father was living before we ever go to church on that father's day sunday morning we'd go to that grave now some of you parents this is going to seem insensitive but to my father it was something he was instilling inside of me and my brothers could maybe be one of the reasons that we all three still serve god today he walked us down we'd all be dressed up in our father's day attire he walked us down that long sidewalk that sidewalk from the main highway from here to that back door and there was that grave the only one there at the time the grave he stand at that grave and i'd see my daddy he was a bigger man i'd see my daddy of tears roll off his cheek he wouldn't say a word his ch his chin just quivering tears slowed down his cheek he just looked at that grave for a few minutes he'd get down and he'd dust the grass off that grave and then he looked at me and my two twin brothers we standing there and suits and ties my little brother's mama always dressed them the same their twin hands had little bow ties on and he'd look at us and he'd say here lay's your grandfather boys he said live for god most of his life then one day he wanted to start doing it his way said your grandfather died at 42 years old with emphysema and i'll never forget it as long as i live and still see i could close my eyes now and see my daddy's face with tears just flowing down his face he said he he wasn't in the church when he died boys said your grandfather according to the bible he said according to the bible your grandfather is welling in hell gnashing of teeth oh my you were abused as a child no so when you said horror movies sexual contented things in front of your children that's abuse we walk back down that sidewalk get in that car and we'd go on the father's day years went by and my dad died we placed him just one grave over from my grandfather his name's on the marker and i'd go every father's day my kids have gone a few times it's not a place i've visited very often for the last since 86 however how many years that's been it's been a long time brother carpenter but the times i would go i tell my kids that story listen this is what my daddy told me about my granddaddy i said but here ladies your granddaddy and he did it god's way here lays your granddaddy had to put a recliner in the church sanctuary he said in a recliner the last song he sung he gripped the side of a of a b3 organ in the sanctuary he gripped the side of it the last song he ever sung 11 days later he died the last song he sung as god is so good to me i can't complain he couldn't get out of that recliner but he'd raise his hands just as high as he'd get them and he praised god and he died at duke medical center 10 or 11 days later i said that's your grandfather your great-grandfather he didn't do it god's way but your grandfather garnett did it god's way so i was out there brother nolan four days ago at these graves for i came out here and i said god i need something for these young people and there that grave god said tell them do it god's way stop trying to do it what other people are telling you to do it and do it god's way listen if you're not willing to give your pastor 45 minutes in a in a church sanctuary why are you going to a hamburger joint giving somebody three hours to tell you what you don't have to do god's got a plan for every single one of you that sit stand in this place tonight god's got a purpose for you we remain standing now my grandfather great-grandfather great-grandmother mom dad and mom rose most recently two on one side did it their way somebody died spiritually in the process two on the other side did it god's way and not only do they live but they have children and grandchildren that live your church and the level of revival that your church is going to have young people is hinging on you you can be a david that wanted to do it his way and lose somebody or you could be a noah that says i don't care where i got to get gopher wood i'm going to get it i don't care how high it is or how long it is we're going to do it jim how much we're going to do it we're going to do it because this is to the salvation of our family there's a no one here tonight there's a david that walked in thinking you were going to get by doing it your way but tonight god just changed your mind i said listen you can't follow trends you got to follow god you got to follow god you got to follow god you got to follow god now i know this is different i know this is different and brother nolan i'm so thankful you asked me to come but and i know this is different and maybe we'll shout tomorrow night i don't know but today in prayer driving down here god said i want you to have an auto call i don't want everybody to come at one time this is what i felt in the spirit god speak to me he said i don't want you to make it easy for everybody i want to go to god's way there are some young people in this place tonight that god is calling you to do exactly what his word says for you to do and you're going to have an impact not only in your city but in your family but you've been questioning things in your mind concerning this and what your pastor's preaching i want you to leave where you're at it's all right don't be ashamed because you won't be the only one doing it i want you to leave there's going to be more of you than what you think i want you to leave where you're at i want you to get in this altar and i want you to lift your hands and i want you to tell the lord i want you to empower my mind right now in the name of jesus god i want you to pour inside of me your love for your word like never coming from all over it's okay don't be ashamed i know you've been through a lot i know two years of covet has just about killed some of you but god's got a calling upon your life you can't leave here questioning things tonight you've got to leave here knowing without a shadow of a doubt that what you're in and who you are and what you believe and what you're steadfast it is the will of god
