- He begins with a man he has known for years who always needs his picture taken with some great somebody to lift his prestige. Barnes wants no one's prestige: he has had his picture taken with the greatest — he repented of his sins, was baptized in Jesus' name and filled with the Holy Ghost, and now Jesus is in him and he is in Jesus, just one picture. He is a son of God — and when he says that, he says, he is saying he is a son of Jesus, because since they're one he is a son of Jesus Christ: behold what manner of love has been bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God. They took knowledge of them that they had been with Jesus; no string of degrees and no running with the president could elevate a Holy Ghost person's prestige any further. He has a message he has been thinking about for days. He turns to Luke the seventeenth chapter and reads from the twenty-fourth verse: as the lightning lightens out of one part under heaven and shines to the other, so shall the Son of Man be in his day; but first he must suffer many things and be rejected of this generation. As it was in the days of Noah — they ate, drank, married and were given in marriage until Noah entered the ark and the flood destroyed them all — and likewise as it was in the days of Lot: they ate, drank, bought, sold, planted and built, but the same day Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all; even thus shall it be when the Son of Man is revealed. Remember Lot's wife; whoever seeks to save his life shall lose it, and whoever loses his life shall preserve it. His text, announced twice: seven startling parallels between the days of Sodom and today. Behind the story lie the eighteenth and nineteenth chapters of Genesis. There was nothing wrong with the eating, drinking, buying, selling, planting and building in themselves — the trouble was they became so busy with them that they forgot God, and once a people get lukewarm and happy-go-lucky the other sins come in; life is like a yo-yo, going up or going down, and most of the world is going down. The place where Sodom and Gomorrah stood is the lowest place on earth, thirteen hundred feet below sea level, a salt sea to this day — the permanent landmark of how God feels about the perversion committed there, and he has not changed his mind.
- The parallels follow. First, their iniquity was full: Genesis 13 and 13 — the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the Lord exceedingly — and, he says, Genesis 15:16 makes the same point with a hammer: destruction came because their iniquity was full. Every nation, city and individual reaches the place where their iniquity is full; be sure your sins will find you out. When God gets enough he needs no doctor, psychiatrist, armies or navies — he handles it himself. He fears America's cup is about to run over — according to statistics, seventeen million known homosexuals in America, perhaps as many more unknown, and more borderline — while a nation that had freedom such as no nation has ever known is selling it fast: large radio stations closed unless you are a member of the World Council of Churches, and the same body planning to take care of television. Against spending ten thousand dollars advertising a revival on television he sets five thousand in literature and four or five full-time door-knockers; the Nazarene Church spent five hundred thousand dollars on a thirty-minute nationwide broadcast and, as far as they knew, got one convert. Second, Sodom's sin expressed: Jude, in the seventh verse of his letter — they gave themselves over to fornication and went after strange flesh — fornication and perversion, which all the translations put down as homosexuality; that is what brought the destruction, and God never changes: he is the same yesterday, today and forever, and the longer a thing is around the more people get used to it, but God isn't that way. Third, when God first pronounced judgment on mankind he was careful to provide a way of escape for righteous Noah: he gave Noah the blueprint for the ark and a hundred and twenty years to build it, just to save eight souls — so don't tell him souls aren't important; a revival that cost five thousand dollars and won one soul would be counted worth it in heaven, and the coming flood of wrath is God's wrath, not the devil's, and it will not be poured out on his bride. He looks at Second Peter: God turned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, making them examples to those who after should live ungodly, and delivered just Lot — the Lord knows how to deliver the godly. Some churches, he says, want to tell God he was a little old-fashioned back there and that they have decided to change the situation; God's answer stands. And Jude 14 and 15: behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of his saints to execute judgment — at the end of the Tribulation the church comes back with him, which is why he believes the church escapes the Tribulation. Fourth, the agency of angels, in saving Lot and in wrecking the cities, and again at the end of the age: first protecting the Christians — he shall send his angels with the sound of the trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other — and secondly executing judgment: the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, in flaming fire, taking vengeance on them that know not God and obey not the gospel, Second Thessalonians 1:7 and 8. Angels appeared to Lot, and smote the men who would have broken in on him blind; he has never been more conscious of angels working with us than in the last few years. That coming in flaming fire is not the rapture but the return after it, when the world will cry for the rocks and mountains to hide them.
- Fifth, God placed the full responsibility for escape upon Lot once he had been warned — see Genesis 19 and 17 — and so with us: warnings have been given by the Son of God, and we had better pray until we are counted worthy (Luke 21:36). The church has the same message the angels brought Lot: hurry, get out, the Lord has to destroy this thing. Sixth, the people of Sodom, and even Lot's family, ridiculed him when he told them — the mayor of the town turned pessimist, and his sons-in-law thought he had had a nightmare; people deep in dope and witchcraft thought he was crazy, and there was no more time. So the Bible describes the last days, Second Peter 3 and 3: there shall come scoffers, walking after their own lusts, saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep all things continue as they were. But things are not as they have always been — in his lifetime automobiles and airplanes were just coming in, and men have been sent to the moon and back — yet man has never come up with a plan to loose a man from his sins, and has not even learned how to whip cancer. Seventh, Lot's wife: they were ordered not to look back, and looking back means looking back at the world; she fell further and further behind, looked back, and froze — she turned to a pillar of salt and died on the spot. Revelation 3, he says, is a bunch of Lot's wives — the lukewarmers of the Laodicean church — who have not enough Holy Ghost to make them bold and will miss the rapture and die lost in the Tribulation. The world's flashy styles run the same way — psychedelic clothes, stock dresses, sack dresses, short dresses — and people are slaves to whatever Hollywood and Paris bring out; he preaches to a woman, "My hero," that her skirts are going to come down to her ankles, yes, all of them. Then the foolish virgins who never kept oil in their lamps: he explains to the young folks how an old oil lamp's wick had to be kept trimmed or the globe smoked black, and how back in the country, when the coal oil ran low, they poured water in to push the last of the oil up to the wick — and when the last drop was gone it went out like lightning. We need our vessels full of oil — that's the Holy Ghost — and the wick trimmed. He closes the parallels by directing everyone to Luke 21 and reading it: take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, drunkenness and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares — for as a snare it shall come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth; watch therefore, and pray always, that you may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man. He will come as a thief in the night to catch away his very own. He asks brother Ramsey to come back and sing "Amazing Grace": when he looks at all these things that happened to Sodom and Gomorrah and sees them in the United States, he feels our cup is almost full and the judgment clouds are gathered — what we do for Jesus, we must do quickly. Then, last, the one God doctrine as a treasure chest: understand the one God and you open the chest of the other gifts. In Deuteronomy 6 and 4 Moses told the Jews their daily diet — Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God is one Lord — and thousands of years later, asked what is the first and greatest commandment, Jesus said the same: Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is one Lord. There is no disputing it: over seven thousand times the Bible refers to God as one God, one Lord.

I get a paper from a fella that been my friend over the years for some strange reason he's always had the weakness of feeling he needed somebody to lift his prestige and his paper he's always having his picture taken with some great somebody for their Pentecostal or what in high thoughts when I got it I said well I don't need to have my picture made with anybody I've already had my mate with the greatest and nobody else can help my prestige for him and I thought I said I wish I could give it photographer depicts a picture with me of Jesus or Jesus in me and I send it to it and tell him I'm in Lois in your paper and you have a lot of great men if your pictures taken with him of course I know what's behind it see there is mannequin take two picture a great man that don't they're not thinking about that but the hand for some strange reason and I don't know why he's always been an outstanding feller he's got a powerful personality and so forth but he's got a weakness of feeling and fear some way another but if I had a picture myself Jesus and I well I just send it to him and say this happened in the spirit world this is a photographer on a fix-up but I repented of my sins and got baptized in Jesus name fill the Holy Ghost I have a picture take my Jesus and we're so close now that he's in me and I'm in him and really it's just one picture praise God and I don't need anybody else to help mine press deeds he taken care I'm the son of God I'm the son of God when I say that I'm saying I'm the son of Jesus now if I said that to a trinitarian they think but myself as Jesus Christ but you see since they're one I'm a son of Jesus Christ behold what manner of love has a bestowed upon us we might be called the sons of God it's what the Bible says I didn't say it that wasn't mine fix up but if you have a Holy Ghost there's not a single person on earth that could elevate your prestige anymore running with the president wouldn't do it having a string of Dedes and what heavier wouldn't do it just in the Bible they said they took knowledge of them that they had been with Jesus now that's the thing that really makes up for everything and all of my life I have had that feeling that I'm a son of the king of kings and Lord of lords and I don't need anybody to help me he's my helper praise God along that line we need help in other ways but I don't know some people how always has that in fear feeling they always struggling but I tell you if you got the Holy Ghost and you're full of it forget it praise God don't worry about it and I have a message on my heart today I've been thinking about it for days then steady and I want to turn to Luke the 17th chapter and start reading at the 24th verse and we all are welcome all the visitors today so glad you're here but we're going to study do they even have a Bible list and I might say this that we're very happy that we're soon
going to have our speaker system all set up and upstairs and brother Perry is working on it but he's got help and we are so glad that we soon we believe we
want to have all the bugs out of our speaker system and everything working blanket our to work all right let's read today for as the lightning that lighten out of one part under the heavens shyness under the other part under the heaven so shall also the Son of Man be in his day but first he must suffer many things and be rejected of this generation and as it was in the days of Noah so shall it be also in the days of the son of man they did eat they did drink they married wives they were given in marriage until the day that Noah entered into the ark and the flood came and destroyed them all likewise also as it was in the days of Lunt they did eat and they drink they bought and they're sold and planted they build but the same day that lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed now it's going to really happen fast in that they which shall be upon the housetop and he stuff in the house let him not come down to take it away and he that's in the field letting likewise not turn back remember Lot's wife and whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it and the text today will be seven startling parallels between the days of Sodom and today seven startling parallels between the days of Sodom and today now look at this verse again as it
was in the days of love now he's telling us that as it was in the days of lot so shall it be when the Son of man coming and we need today to find out how it was in the days of life and this far more behind this story it's studying the 1819 chapter of the book of Genesis then we find right here in these words now the Bible said they did eat and there's nothing wrong with eating if you don't eat too much there's nothing wrong with drinking as long as it's milk in water and soda pop they bought and the sold and there's nothing wrong with buying and selling if it's done honestly they planted and sure it's not wrong to plant a garden or plant a corn crop or wheat crop they built it's alright to build a home but the same day that lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed now the things we read here is all right if but here's the problem they became so busy eating and drinking buying and selling making money they forgot God and when we get so busy with eating and drinking and married and giving and measure we forget God then all these other horrible terrible sins will come in on us that we're going to study you see you can't get by with just being lukewarm and sort of happy-go-lucky some people think they can they think about all there is to life is just being happy-go-lucky and having a good time and eating and drinking and and things like that but you can't see that life is like a yo-yo you're either going up or you're going down and a lot of folks don't realize this so most of the world is going down and the end of the string is destruction now the Bible contains a vivid description of instruction of the action
cities of sodom and gomorrah and men today have discovered that it's a fact that there was such a city that there's actually it was destroyed with foreign brimstone the evidence is everywhere today's still there and there's the salt sea and this place where Sodom and Gomorrah once dwelt is the lowest place on earth it's 1,300 feet below sea level that gives us an idea of how God feels about the sins they were committing he blasted that thing for heaven and socket and it became a dead sea until this day there's nothing but soft fair that's the way God feels about the perversion it was being committed there if there's anything under God's heaven that God hates if this demon the solution the world today of homosexuality this region in our land and God hates it and left the prominent picture a permanent landmark he let everybody know how he feels about it by thinking it thirteen hundred feet below sea level and turn it into a salt sea and burning the cities of a foreign brimstone that's the way God feels about it and still feels about it and has not changed his mind and never will now this comparison reveals seven arresting parallels that will show a starting similarity between those times and the days in which we live because Jesus said as it was in the days a lot so shall it be when the Son of Man is revealed so we're living in the days of lot as it were so learner this parallel
one there is no accident and the judgment of Solomon this city and its inhabitants were destroyed because the man of Sodom the Bible said here in Genesis 13 and 13 the man of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the Lord exceedingly they were wicked they were sinners before the Lord exceedingly therefore you can see why the Sodom and Gomorrah was wiped off the face of the earth and burn literally burned with foreign brimstone and all of its inhabitants because they were wicked sinners exceedingly wicked and God got an epic god looked down on it and he said I've got enough of this I'm going to make an example I'm going to let the whole world know how I feel about this type sin and I'm going to leave it as a landmark it'll be the world Oh Stan that is now here in Genesis 15 to 16 is also making as with a hammer ice destruction came upon them one of their iniquity was full every nation finally reaches the place where their iniquity is full every city will reach the place when their iniquity as full and every individual will reach the place when their iniquity is full and God got all he wants to have no more nobody get always gets by Baba said be sure your sins will find you out so when God gets enough there's no need to call the doctor there's no need to call the psychiatrist there's no need to call anybody when God gets enough he handles things on his own he don't need anybody to have him he don't need any armies he don't need a navies he don't need any Devils he don't need anybody when God gets ready he takes care of itself and so he got ready there do a fool and I fear that our iniquity as a
nation America is getting caught about to run over because there is according to statistics 17 million known homosexuals in America and that means it could be 17 million more that isn't on and another 17 million who are border lines and another 17 million be in it in the next five or ten years we are filling up to the brim now God hates this and the world itself sets the time of its own judgment and every individual sets to date the time for your judgement now somebody said I really had a time last Saturday night I live here but in everything and of us God didn't inner Oh you may get by with it a few more Saturday night but one day your coupler Philip and God will say this is the last Saturday night because God's merciful and he waits and he waits but he don't always always it takes care of everything finally all right let's look at it here parallel one their iniquity was full they were wicked they were sinners before the Lord exceedingly compare that with our nation that one soul had freedom such as no nation has ever known but we're selling our freedom we're selling it fast
and pretty soon we won't have any there's a lot of large radio stations down that you cannot go on at all unless you remember the World Council of Churches that's right and there's somebody awfully worried about having a lot of problem about whether we're going to go on television or not don't worry the World Council of Churches is planning to take care of that soon so I think a lot of folks his button their head making a lot of plans and I said to somebody other day the whole lot of talk about how it but really turn our church upside down if you just go on television and advertise well one minister told me he went to a certain City where they had been advertised as revival he didn't know about it but if there is doing that this certain preacher believed in it and though he was all set for a great big turnout and the said a good number of Esther's came and so one night he was so anxious to see that his program was working till he had all the folks of the stand that had been influenced to come to the revival through television and one parole woman stood let me ask you if the first Pentecostal church was going to spend ten thousand dollars advertising on television I want to ask you what should be the most profitable get $5,000 ruffle literature and how about four or five people full-time with the other $5,000 to do nothing but knock doors and invite people to church I wonder which would be the most profitable not hard to figure out the Nazarene Church spent five hundred thousand dollars to put on a 30-minute nationwide broadcast and they were pressed while some of our preachers as to how many converts they actually got as a result and one of the leaders in it told one of our preachers as far as we know only one $500,000 could have beat that a little ragged tent out in the rural community some word say in the vain is a couple of hundred dollars a week would have taken here that oh I don't think
it's going to be the great big beam because I think when a fella gets on television and start preaching holiness rather they turn it off just like that whenever you get on that preach old-time Holy Ghost Jesus name one God tongue talkin salvation brother they gonna turn over to the rock and roll music and their gods oh I'm not gonna spend on ten thousand dollars only I hadn't made up my mind yet alright but as it was in the days of Sodom and llamar social if you want to tell the men come and look at parallel to their Sodom sin is expressed
by Jude in the seventh verse of his letter and it reads like this if they gave themselves over to fornication and going after strange flesh now this was the major sins of Sodom Gomorrah fornication and perversion strange flesh all the different translations put that down as homosexuality the version of all kind strange flesh so it's very very plain parallel to that it was fornication and perversion that brought about the destruction on Sodom and Gomorrah and caused God to burn him up women children man everybody burn to a cinder and the thing about God he never changes he's still the same yesterday today and forever you know human beings have a tendency if a thing is around and long enough they get used to it and they don't think it's wrong anymore but God isn't that way the longest surround the matter he gets and the longer it's around us if we're not full of the Holy Ghost the morally compromised God to help us in Jesus name to wake up final three when God first pronounced judgment

the rapture in flaming fire that's when the world is going to look up and see and they're going to cry for the rocks and mountains to fall on and to hide them from his face they're going to pray to dine can't because when they see him coming in flaming fire they'll know this is him her little number 5 God placed the full responsibility for escaped upon
