Summary
Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.
The Whole Book of Acts, Not Just Acts 2:38
- He confesses his belief in the book of Acts message and this apostolic church, and his refusal to settle for dead, dried-up, watered-down religion or a casual commitment.
- Heritage stories from the Spring Street days — including a deliverance in a Sunday night service, when the bishop took charge and the demon left — testify that apostolic power is this church's inheritance.
- His own testimony: flying home full of dread in the week he was to preach a revival on supernatural vision, he was met mid-air by the effect of his wife's prayer at home that God would send an angel to meet him.
- Acts 2:38 still stands — the boy baptized that morning was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ after repenting of his sins — but the decision before the body is whether our being the church ends at Acts 2:38 or claims the whole book.
Scriptures: Acts 2:38
The Report Card of the First Church
- The opening text, Acts 2:42: they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
- The full report, read together (vv42-47): all that believed were together and had all things common, sold their possessions and parted them to all as every man had need, continued daily with one accord, and the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.
- His count of the passage: one emphasis on doctrine, perhaps two, one on prayer, none on miracles or demonstration — but six references to the fellowship of the believers; that emphasis is the pattern to be duplicated, not an accident.
Scriptures: Acts 2:42; Acts 2:42-47
Koinonia: One Word for God's Communion and Ours
- Fellowship in Acts 2:42 is the Greek word koinonia, found some nineteen times in the New Testament under about eight translations.
- It is the word of 1 Corinthians 1:9 — God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son — and of the benediction's communion of the Holy Ghost.
- The same word that explains God's communion with us explains our communion with one another; this fellowship was intended to be held sacred, as a deep and powerful connection.
Scriptures: 1 Corinthians 1:9; 2 Corinthians 13:14
Jesus' Prayer for Us: That They May Be One
- John 17 is Jesus praying as high priest for all future believers — for those who would believe through the disciples' word; he was praying for this congregation.
- That they all may be one, as the Father is in the Son and the Son in the Father, so that the world may believe: the revelation of the Oneness of God reaching this city depends on the oneness of its believers, not merely on the power of the revelation.
- He rejoices in the revival and harvest already in Murfreesboro, but his prayer is not for more doctrine, power, or miracles — it is to be freshly baptized with a deep love for our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Scriptures: John 17:20-23
One Body: The Eye Cannot Say 'I Have No Need of You'
- The lie from hell, spread through all of Christendom: as long as my relationship with Jesus is good, I can take or leave the church — but God did not consult us when he established the book of Acts model.
- Paul's body chapter: for in one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, bond or free; the foot's saying it is not of the body does not make it less a part, and the eye cannot say to the hand, I have no need of thee.
- You need me and I need you; we cannot say it otherwise and stay in the Bible — don't be American before you're apostolic, because independence is not apostolic DNA.
Scriptures: 1 Corinthians 12; 1 Corinthians 12:13; 1 Corinthians 12:21
Fitly Framed Together: Fellow Citizens and Lively Stones
- His object lesson — young men of the congregation standing on the platform with arms latched — pictures the reading (Ephesians 2:19-22): no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ himself the chief cornerstone, fitly framed together into a holy temple.
- 1 Peter 2:5: ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house — lively stones will rub each other the wrong way at times, but that is no excuse to leave the body.
- Good shepherds smell like the sheep, and good sheep smell like the flock; God's Spirit does not leave us every time we fall short, so we cannot break fellowship with one another over a bad day.
Scriptures: Ephesians 2:19-22; 1 Peter 2:5
Restoring, Forgiving, Covering: Fellowship in Practice
- Forgiveness is carried like a bag of grace — not seven times but seventy times seven: as the perfect God forgives me daily, I keep fellowship with my brother and sister above how I feel.
- It is no badge of honor to love sinners more than the saints; the lost are being saved into a body — what are we bringing them into if the saved are islands by themselves?
- Gossip is not acceptable because it breaks sacred fellowship; spiritual people are not measured by louder prayer or longer fasts but by restoration — Galatians 6:1: restore the one overtaken in a fault in the spirit of meekness; tearing down takes no maturity at all.
- Above all, 1 Peter 4:8: keep fervent love among yourselves, for love shall cover the multitude of sins — while pride, envy, and hatred walk around with a magnifying glass looking for a reason to leave.
- It was the fellowship that drove the first church to the prayer room when one of their own was in prison, the fellowship that kept the doctrine alive and brought the miraculous — and it begins with being vulnerable and confessing our faults one to another.

I want to read Acts chapter 2 and verse 42. Many of you probably are able to quote it. Says: "And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' Doctrine and fellowship, and in Breaking of bread, and in prayers."
Now I want to say this, before announce my title: I knew that I was preaching this service eight or nine weeks ago. And before they announced be the church month, I was going to preach today on be the church. So I didn't cheat. God is my witness. He spoke to me nine weeks ago to preach on be the church today. And then it's be the church month. So here we — I feel like God wants to do something today. I really do. So I want to preach on be the church.
Now, this is probably the first time that I've preached in this pull pit, where I've had to rewrite my sermon four times, to try to convey what I feel like the Lord wanted to convey this morning. I was going to try to be prolific. I was going to be profound. I was going to be perplexing. I was going to strive to be complex and compounding, and maybe even a little bit confusing. But this morning, I feel like the spirit just wants me to preach on be the church. And I want to preach to a group of Apostolic Believers. And I want to confess to you this morning, that I believe this book of Acts message. I believe in this Apostolic Pentecostal Acts chapter 2 message. And I believe in the book of Acts church. It's not complex. It's not profound. It's not perplexing. It is the power of God on this Earth today: the apostolic church. And I Absol absolutely positively believe that this is an Apostolic church. We grow Apostolic families. And we will be the church.
It is not a coincidence that in our P7 clubs this past week, we had an average attendance of 106 students, between all of our P7 clubs this past week. I personally — and I say I personally, because I'm hoping to resonate with your experience as well — but I have set my life to refuse to be satisfied with dead, dried up, washed up, watered down, l a fair religion. It just has never worked for me personally. I look at the elders in our church. I look at the elders in our movement. And sister brand, your name kept coming to my spirit. And I want to confess to you today, that I will not settle with a casual commitment. I will not settle for a casual walk with God. Sister BR, I will dedicate my life to this Apostolic message. We do not have to settle in the oppressive land of the apathetic, because God has given us Dominion in the promised land of the apostolic. We can have everything that he wrote about in this book. It can be our experience today. We will be the church.
My family was converted into this church, this local assembly, back in the late 70s and early 80s. And I love to hear the stories of Spring Street. And if you've never found an elder at this church that was there at Spring Street, you should do yourself a favor, and go listen to some of our heritage stories. And there's not many who are left. But my mother and my dad, they've told me so many stories over my whole life. And to open this sermon, I just wanted to reach out and get some Apostolic testimonies, to inspire our faith this morning. I reached out to several. And sister depri shared with me a story that happened back at Spring Street. There was a Sunday night service, and there was a demonic spirit that began to work through a person in the congregation. And that person, through that demonic influence, begin to call out the sins of others that were around, and was mocking the local congreg ation. And Bishop took charge. And Bishop began to pray with this person. And that demon threatened to kill Bishop de priest. And Bishop responded by saying, "My Lord cast your lord into the pit, and took the keys." And that demon left that person, and went out of that Sanctuary. Why? Because this is an Apostolic church. We believe in Apostolic power. We believe an Apostolic demonstration. And we won't settle for anything less.
In February, I was scheduled to preach a Revival. And I had felt in my spirit for that congregation, that the Lord wanted me to preach to the supernatural vision of that local congregation. And I felt to just inspire their faith in their future, and what God had for them. And it was on Tuesday of that week — I was flying out, I was going to New York for a company trip — and the me sent a very oppressive Spirit to my mind. It was just in a moment. And I could take you to where I was sitting. It's like a dark cloud just completely came over my mind, came over my spirit. And for all the days that followed, I was plagued. Because I knew I was preaching Revival that weekend, but I had absolutely no faith. I was absolutely plagued, because I knew I was supposed to preach on Supernatural Vision, but I did not have any. I could just not tap in to the anointing. I just felt dark and depressed, and all of those things. And it was on my flight back to Nashville, where I was just full of dread. I dreaded going home. I dreaded facing the weekend. And I was on that plane. I had my head laid back, cuz I was just so full of just darkness. Just couldn't shake it. I had my head laid back. And all of the sudden, I just felt a wind come over me. Was just sweeped over me. And all of a sudden, I had my head laid back. And I lifted up my head. And I just — I felt this energy. I just opened up my eyes. And my window shade was down. I opened up that window shade. I wanted to see the world. And I was just smiling. I just couldn't stop smiling. Didn't know what had happened. Landed that plane in Nashville. And I started getting all of the text messages. And my sweet wife Mariah was messaging me: "Taylor, you're not going to believe what just happened. Taylor, I've never felt what I just felt." And while I was 30,000 ft in the air, Mariah was watching a sermon on what it meant to be Apostolic, and what it meant to be radical. And she began to obey the voice of the spirit of our home. And she knew what kind of week I was having. And she prayed, "Lord, send an angel to meet him in the air." And while I was 30,000 F feet in the air, and had no clue what was going on — you can believe that they just sent an angel to deliver Peter in the book of Acts, 2,000 years ago, if you want. I'm claiming the whole book of Acts experience. I'm claiming it all. I believe in this. I believe in this. Hold on — if I'm going to walk the walk, and I'm not going to watch that, and I'm not going to say that, and I'm not going to eat this and drink that, you better believe I'm going to walk in the power. If you think I'm just going to dedicate my life to something that doesn't have any power, you've lost your mind. I want the full Apostolic experience.
If we desire to be a good citizen, we measure ourselves against the laws that govern a nation. If we want to be a good employee, we measure ourselves against the performance standards of a company. If we want to be a fruitful Christian, we should measure ourselves only against the word of God. And if we want to ensure that we are an Apostolic church, we don't need to measure ourselves against churches down the road. We don't need to measure ourselves against cultural Trends or successful business practices. We need to go back to the book of Acts, where the church began. And that needs to be the only measuring stick on — are we going to be the church? It's the only measuring state.
We believe in Acts 2 and 38. If you want to know how that boy was baptized up there — he was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, because he made a decision to repent of his sins and turn from a sinful lifestyle. And I don't know if he's received the spirit yet, but he will. Because we still believe in an Acts 238 message. It's not going anywhere. And, but I feel in the Holy Ghost that the Lord wants to lead us to a decision we must make, as a body, today: is our Center Point experience of be the church going to end at Acts 238? Or will we claim the whole thing? Will we only be comfortable with the book of Acts until the second chapter, when he gave us a whole rest of the book to learn from? One of us can't make it. One of us can't make it alone. It has to be a collective body decision.
You know, it's very Apostolic to dream. We were singing that song, "All the Earth shall shout your praise." I'm not going to sing — they get on to me for singing. And I had a vision. I had a vision: the Murphy Center, which is 1.6 miles from this place, sits 11,500 people. And I had a vision of Centerpoint having such a harvest of souls, that we would be conducting Holy Ghost Crusades at the Murphy. Yeah, I release that into this place. I have a vision that we will be the church. "It shall come to pass afterward, I will pour out my spirit upon All Flesh." A lot of Pentecost will stop there. We get the spirit, and then we think our relationship with God is settled. But that's not where it stopped. And it says: "Your young men will have — or will prophesy. Your young men will dream dreams, and your old men will have visions." So if you're not having Apostolic dreams and Visions, you need to go back to your spirit experience. And you need to say, "God, take me further. Take me further."
It's Apostolic to have a vision in your mind, of what it would look like to be hosting a small group at your home, where all the sudden the Holy Ghost decides to stop by. And all of the sudden, your lost family members, your neighbors — you weren't even preparing for anything. But they just begin to feel the love of Jesus. And they begin to cry. And they say, "I don't know why I'm feeling this." And you know exactly why they're feeling that. That's an Apostolic dream.
If we're are going to be the church, we have to have dreams and Visions about being the church. So I know that we are the church in Doctrine. I know that we are the church in experience, and Empower, and in demonstration. I've given you some stories to let you know where you're sitting this morning. My God, if you need a miracle, or if you need an encounter with Jesus Christ, you're in the right place right now.
But hear me, my dear brothers and sisters, my fellow Apostolic Believers in Murphreesboro, Tennessee: all of these mentioned elements will fall short of what God had in mind for his last day church, if we are not the church in Fellowship. We must be the church in Fellowship, one with another. The Fellowship of the Believers is a vital and crucial part of God's plan for the Church of the Living God. We cannot be Apostolic in Doctrine, but not in Fellowship. We cannot be Apostolic in power, demonstration, baptism, spirit and filling, but not in Fellowship. It just doesn't work.
So I would like for us to read together Acts chapter 2:42-47. And I'm going to try to emphasize every time that Fellowship was mentioned in this report card. Acts Chap 2:42-47: "And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' Doctrine and fellowship, and in Breaking of bread, and in prayers. And fear Came Upon every soul. And Many Wonders and signs were done by the apostles. And all that believed were together, and had all things common. And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. And they, continuing daily with one Accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, to Ether meat with gladness and singleness of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily, such as should be saved."
This was one of seven report cards that we find in the book of Acts. I would encourage you to go — I was going to list some of them, but I would encourage you to go study out the report cards of Acts, that give you a summary of the condition of the church. But it should be of note to each of us this morning, that immediately following the spirit of God being poured out, the report that followed didn't seem to overly emphasize everyone's individual Walks With God becoming more meaningful. In this report card of the birth of the New Testament Church, there was not a lengthy summary given of people that couldn't be pulled away from their prayer closets. In contrast to these points, it seems that immediately following the church being born, there was this emphasis on daily communion and Fellowship of the Believers.
Now, I am not a scholar. I did not go to Bible College. My personal analysis of this passage: there was one emphasis on Doctrine, maybe two. There was one emphasis on prayer. There were no emphasis, in this passage, of Miracles, power, or demonstration. But there were six references to the Fellowship of the Believers. This was not an accident. This was an instruction. This was a pattern to be duplicated. That if you're going to continue the experience, it's not in an individual context, on an island by yourself. It's with the Fellowship of the Believers.
Acts 2:42-47 — it served as a guide for how the New Testament Church would be able to operate, in any environment, any country, any language, any governmental structure — under the persecution of Rome, or in the American dream. This model would work. It would work.
The Fellowship of the Believers was to be held as a sacred relationship. And I don't have to say this much, but nothing in our society is sacred anymore. Nothing is Untouchable. Everything's up for grabs. But this Fellowship — this relationship with one another — was to be held as sacred, as vital, as critical. It was intended to be a deep and Powerful connection between one another.
The word Fellowship, in Acts 2 and 42, comes from a Greek word, coinonia. And this word is found 19 times in the New Testament. Approximately translated into eight different words. But if you look at the different places that this word Fellowship is translated, it paints a picture of what God fully intended for this relationship — of how we were supposed to operate with one another. And the most shocking way that I find this word was used, was in relationship to how God fellowships With Us. 1 Corinthians 1:9: "God is faithful, by whom you were called unto the fellowship of his son, Jesus Christ Our Lord." 2 Corinthians 13-1 14: "The grace of the Lord, and the love of God, and the communion" — that word coinonia, they translated it as communion — "communion of the Holy Ghost be with you all. Amen."
It's stirs me, that in the same way that my relationship with a holy and perfect, and all powerful, and all knowing, and a God that feels the universe — in the same way that he explains his communion with me, he uses that same word to explain my communion with you. It's the same element. It's the same word.
Going back a few books from the book of Acts, I want to look at the Gospel of John. We find in the 17th chapter, where Jesus is praying as the high priest for all future Believers. He was interceding on behalf of the future church. And this is a really important scripture. Because in essence, when we read this, Jesus was praying for you. He was praying for me. But let's just be specific: this was his prayer, when he looked down into the future, and he saw Centerpoint Apostolic Church. He was interceding for this congregation. Let's look at it in that lens. This was his prayer for us. And he prayed this in John 17:20-23: "I do not ask for these only" — he was setting a — he was clarifying: "I'm not just interceding for the ones that are following me right now. This is not just a prayer for my disciples right now. But also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one. Just as you, father, are and me, and I and you, that they may also be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me."
The revelation of the Oneness of God to the city of Murphysboro is dependent upon the Oneness of the Believers of Centerpoint Apostolic Church. The Oneness of God leaving this place to catch — I'm not going to call any church names — but to catch other churches around this area, is not dependent on the power of the Revelation. It's dependent on the power of our Oneness. That's what he prayed. "The glory," verse 22, "that you have given me, I have given to them, that they may be one, even as we are one. I and them, and you and me, that they may become perfect perfectly one." This was Jesus's prayer for us: that we would be perfectly one.
So I rejoice in the Revival that has come to Murphreesboro, Tennessee. Oh, I rejoice. I could just take a lap around this Sanctuary right now. I rejoice in the Harvest. We baptize people at this church all throughout the week. That baptistry is being used Monday through Saturday, when nobody else is seeing it. People are being filled with God's spirit in people's homes. There are Miracles happening all over this city. And they go to that tank right there, and they get baptized in Jesus' name. That's Harvest. That's Revival.
But I pray — because if I'm going to be frank with you — there's a whole lot of Murphy's bro that's not in here today. There's a whole lot of souls I see that still need to know about the delivering power of Jesus Christ. And so I pray. I mean, I pray for the church. But I pray: "God, what do I need to do differently? God, what do I need to sh up? God, do I need to work on my Doctrine? Do I need to study the Oneness of God? Do I need to read the 58 do Dr. K. Bernard books? What do I need to do? God, do I need more power? Do we need more miracles?" I can't — listen, if I literally started to list all of the Miracles that happen in this altar, we would just never have service. We would just have altar calls. There's so many miracles that happen in this altar. Do we need more? Do we need more miracles? No. I think we have the doctrine. I think we have the power. I think we have the Miracles. I think what we need is to be freshly baptized again, with a deep love for our brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ.
There is a lie that has come from hell. And I don't say that evangelistically. I say that as Apostolic Authority. This lie has come from hell. And I know it comes from hell, because it goes against everything that the word of God preaches and teaches. And the LIE doesn't just hit the apostolic movement. It's hitting all of Christendom. It happened during Co. And the LIE is this: "As long as I have a relationship with Jesus Christ, I can take or leave the church. As long as this relationship is good, I can take or leave this relationship. As long as I slide in, worship a little bit, listen to the preaching, slide back out, I'm good." That's not how he set up the church. We didn't write the book. He didn't consult us when he went to the Cross to die for our sins. He didn't ask what our advice and opinions would be. And when he was establishing the book of Acts model, he didn't consult how we thought it would work best. He didn't consult, "How do you think this will do right?" And there is an attack against the Oneness of the Believers.
But I am hoping today that we will stand up in the spirit. You don't have to physically stand up. But if you'll spiritually stand up with me, and we will put a stake in the ground that lets hell know, that lets Satan know, that lets all of the Demonic forces that are trying to take the souls of this city know, that we will be the church in Fellowship. Now it makes more sense why Paul would write such a lengthy description to the Corinthian Church, in chapter 12: "For just as the body is one has many members. And all the members of the bodies, though many, are one body. So it is with Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body — Jews or Greek, slaves or free — and all were made to drink of one Spirit. If the foot should say, 'I'm not the hand, I don't belong to the body,' that would not make it any less a part of the body."
Verse 21 — help me, God: "The eye cannot say to the hand, 'I have no need of you.'" You need me. You need me. And I need you. I can't say I don't need you. It is not in the Bible. You can't say it. You can't say it, per the word of God. You can't say we don't need each other. I absolutely need you. And you absolutely need me. And I rebuke the American dream that gets into the church, that says, "I'm going to be independent, in my house, my 401k." That's not the apostolic DNA. I'm okay that we're in America. I've got a house too. I've got somewhat of a 401k — it's open to donations. But that's not how God set up the church. Hear me. Please, please. Oh, I'll just get on my knees if I could. Please don't be American before you're Apostolic. Please. I'm begging you: this world, and this church, does not need more Americans. It needs more apostolics. It's got PL PL of Americans. Plenty of them. It needs more people who say, "I am a member of that book of Acts church. I am an Apostolic believer. And I believe in everything that's written in the holy book."
If you're a male student aged 12 to 18, please join me on the platform, preferably in the next 15 seconds. Oh, we're about to have some fun. Everybody give them a hand. Oh, you're good, sweetheart. Come on up here. Hey, y'all just line up real quick like. I'm on a timeline here. Y'all see that little timer? Times us. All right, just line up. There you go. What a goodlooking — hey, that's the Apostolic Church of the Living God right there. That's a bunch of men of God, God, is what I see right there. All right, y'all, come on, single file now. It's like in kindergarten. All right, you guys are going to be my model of centerp Point. Okay, was that good? Y'all are my — what's it called, when you take out, you know, part to — anyway, I didn't go to college. All right. So y'all are my — y'all are my church. Good. Keep your arms to your — good.
Okay, let's read Ephesians chap 2:19-22 together: "Now therefore you are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the Saints, and of the household of God. And are built upon the foundation of the Apostles and Prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the Chief Cornerstone. And whom all the building fitly framed together —" Right, I need y'all to latch arms, and get fitly framed together. All right, we got to be fitly framed. That's not fitly framed. You see what I'm talking about? Like, we got to — like, you got to embody this. Like, fitly framed together. You know. Yeah, like, see, that's — no, no, yeah, this is not fitly framed together. My folks, like, fitly framed together. You know what I'm talking about? I know y'all don't read the King James version. But that's fitly. Okay, fitly framed together. Okay, there you go. Fitly framed together. All right. "Groweth into an Holy Temple to the Lord. In whom you also are builded together" — how are we build it together — "for inhabitation of God through the spirit."
I won't say it again, but: it's not enough for you to have your own walk with God. You are not going to fully manifest the power of God off in your own prayer closet. It won't happen, okay?
1 Peter 2 and 5. Here we go. This is where it's going to get fun. All right: "You also, as Lively Stones —" So now get Lively. But stay connected. It Might Get Loud. Might Get Loud out — you know, like Lively. You know, like, move. You know, like, I don't know, shake a little bit. All right. Now — no. Oh, jeez. Lord, I'm about to get fired. Lord, please. Hey, y'all — too much, too much. Just a little Lively.
All right, so we're fitly framed together. And we're Lively. Every once in a while, we're going to rub each other the wrong way. Every once in a while, I'm gonna say something that you might not like. Every once in a while, we might operate differently. We might say things differently. We might have different points of view. But it is not an excuse to leave the organism. It is not an excuse to leave the body of Jesus Christ. Because we are fly joined together. And we're also Lively Stones. Don't leave the body. Don't leave the body. Y'all can go be seated.
Wayne Hunley was preaching to a bunch of preachers. He said, "Good Shepherds smell like the Sheep. Good Shepherds smell like the Sheep." I'm going to tell you this: good sheep also smell like other sheep. Good sheep should smell like the flock. They shouldn't have their own identity. They shouldn't be lost in some place over there. We are connected to each other. I can't say I don't need you. I can't say — you can't say you don't need me. We are joined together. God's spirit does not leave us every time we mess up or fall short. The same word of fellowship. And he does not break fellowship with you every time you have a bad day. So how, in the name of God, do we think that if I have a bad day, or you have a bad day, we can just break fellowship with one another? How — the scripture: can you say that you love God, whom you have not seen, if you can't love your brother, whom you have seen? That's scripture. I did not make that up. That's scripture.
"Therefore, if you bring your gift — individual, your gift — to the Altar, and you remember someone has Op with you, you better go ahead and just leave that little praise break. You better go ahead and just leave that little praise dance. You better go be reconciled to your brother, and then come back to the Altar for worship."
How many times do I have to forgive my brother, anyways? Three times? Four times? When do I get a pass, Jesus, to break fellowship with them? 7even time 70. The perfect number, which refle reflected the perfect God. And as much as the perfect God forgives me, so I can have daily relationship and fellowship with him, he said, "Go and do likewise." And you carry a bag of forgiveness and grace and mercy around. And you say, "My fellowship with him, and my fellowship with her, is more important than how I feel, or how I see myself, or how they don't see me. I don't care what you say about me. You can't disconnect yourself from me. We are connected. We're connected to one another."
Hear me — oh, my timer. We will never effectively be the church out there, if we are not first the church in here. We're never going to impact this world like Jesus wants us to, if we can't be the church in fellowship with one another.
Here's another lie: it is acceptable to love Sinners more than we love the Saints. It is not some Badge of righteousness to love the world more than you love the Church of the Living God. It is not some badge of honor if — and I'm, let me try to be respectful — it is not a badge of honor if I only fellowship with the lost, to get them into the saved category, but I never make time for the saved category. What are we trying to bring them into anyways, y'all? What are we trying to save the lost and dying world into? So they can come be an Island by themselves? We're going to take them from a world — and the only way they are united is when they're in sin. And here's what I mean by that: you can have people from two different socioeconomic statuses, two different walks of life — two completely different people. One's a blue collar worker. One's a white collar worker. And they pull up to a bar. They pull up a bar stool. They order the same drink from the same bartender. And all of the sudden, they're United. They can talk about anything. They'll share their needs with one another. They'll be vulnerable with one another. Because they're drinking from the same wine. We drink from the same cup, y'all. We drink from the same cup. If I'm hurting, if I'm in need, I'm not going to act like to you that I'm perfect. I'm not perfect. And you're not perfect. And we don't do the power of God any favors by trying to act strong. When Jesus came to be our father, he also gave you brothers and sisters. He gave you brothers and sisters. What makes my brother, my brother, and my sister, my sister, is we have the same blood flowing through our veins. And when we went to Calvary — because such were some of you, you were lost in De, in trespasses and sins. And you were a drunker. And you were all these other things. And the same blood of Jesus came and washed all of us. So now we share the same blood of Jesus Christ. So there's neither Greek nor Jew, Gentile, slave, free, Bond, Rich, poor. We're all the same at the foot of the cross of Jesus Christ.
Can I say a few more things? Worship team went long today. Let me look at Mariah. Should I end? Mariah, you make the call. She'll tell me. She'll just tell me afterwards. I can't believe I'm saying this — five more minutes. I literally can't believe I'm saying that. But just — y'all, five more minutes. Look, 38 minutes. Okay, five more minutes.
Gossip is not acceptable, because it breaks our sacred fellowship with one another, and we hinder the operation of God's spirit. I'll move on. Spiritual people don't pray louder. Spiritual people don't fast longer. Spiritual people don't attend more church services. Spiritual people don't drive the nicest cars, or live in the nicest houses. Spiritual people don't live in the worst homes, and drive the worst cars. Spiritual people restore one another in the spirit of gentleness. Galatians 6, in one: "Brothers, if anyone's caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual, restore —" Anybody — brother Spencer, we could have turned that whole youth group loose, to just tear down that youth room. They could have had it done in a day. But if you wanted them to build it back up, would — it wouldn't happened. Cuz it doesn't take any skill set to tear something down. Doesn't take any maturity. Doesn't take any wisdom. Doesn't take any scriptures, to tear things up, and tear people down, and tear the leadership down, and tear the church down. And we don't like that. And we don't like that. And let's go to lunch, so we can just tear everything apart. My God, help me. Lord Jesus Christ, it takes maturity, and it takes spirituality, and it takes the word of God, to help build up and to restore an organism that we're all a part of. We're all a part of it.
The musicians can come. Got three more minutes, y'all. Please help me with this scripture, okay? First Peter 4 and8. I'm not going to make you repeat it, but if you could just repeat it in your mind: "Above all —" Just repeat that in your mind: "Above all." This is so important. Above All. Above how we think. Above how we Act. Above how we're predisposed. Your background, my background. My calling, your calling. How we — above everything: "Keep loving one another earnestly. Love covers a multitude of sins."
I want to take the adverse of that scripture. Pride, Envy, hatred, walks around with a magnifying glass to my sins. "Say something wrong today, to offend me. Say — yeah, give me a reason to not come back to this church. Give Me —" Love covers, guys. I listen — look, I'm just trying to be — I'm trying to be raw and honest. I'm sorry. I told you I wanted to be prolific, profound, and perplexing. Chad jbt help me write that.
Nobody here — let me say it this way — is going to come to this church and be perfect every Sunday. Because this isn't a show. This isn't a performance. This isn't a stage with actors. This is a living organism. Which means sometimes, when I come here, I don't even want to look at you. And sometimes, when you come here — if you're being honest — you don't even want to look at me. And it's not because I don't love you. It's not because you don't love me. It's because we had a bad week. Oh, it's because life, sometimes — sometimes that's everything I can do, to get my kids out of the house and get to church. But if we would just be baptized with a love — it just covers. It covers a multitude of sin. Don't walk around with a magnifying glass.
You want to know why the book of Acts church had so many miracles? It's not because they had more power. It's because when there was a cut in the body, they were so United, that those cells began to move to the infection. "What — Peter's in distress. Peter's in jail. That's one of us. Well, we better cancel our dinner plans. We better cancel our vacations. Because one of us is hurting. One of us is broken." What this is — this is the fellowship. And it drove them to a prayer room. "God, we've never seen this before, but we need you to break him out of prison. God, they're getting killed every day. God, they're being martyred every day. We got to get them out. We got to pray them out." It was The Fellowship that brought the miraculous. It was The Fellowship that kept the doctrine alive. It was The Fellowship that kept everything that Jesus came to do. Lord, he didn't pray we would keep the doctrine, y'all. He said, "Let them be one. If they'll be one, the truth that unites them will carry on. If they'll be one, they won't have to pray for miracles. The miraculous power of God will just — I and them, you and me, us together. So when we get together, and we're United, and we're together, he just shows up."
We could all stand. Could we just speak in tongues? I have one more Direction I want to give for the altar call. But would you mind just praying in the Holy Ghost for just a minute? Maybe just lift your hands. Hal — The Fellowship of the Believers. The most sacred Gathering happening in Murphreesboro, Tennessee. We are one with him. He is one in us. We are one together. I am not above you. You are not above me. We are one together. Jesus.
Here's how I felt to in this — my God, I feel the Holy Ghost. In the book of Acts, that report card: they were able to meet the needs, because they knew about the needs. Can't meet needs if we don't know. We're going to fellowship with one another. We got to confess our faults one to another. We got to be vulnerable with each other. I try to be better about it, when we're walking around these hallways and stuff, to Center Point. Button I'm per — ain't none of us perfect. We got to be broken before one another, y'all. We're together in this. You're among Brothers. You're among sisters. And I promise you, we'll be met together. But if you have a need — I'm not — no one's — we're not going to say any needs out loud here. But if we want this Spirit of love, and this spirit of coinonia — it's the spirit of fellowship — if we want it to break through this place, we've got to break open these Earth and vessels. Which means we have to be vulnerable with one another.
So if you have a need — Ministry might come pray for you, if you'll just listen. I promise you, God wants to meet a need right now. I have felt it in prayers so many times this week. Two days ago, he came and met me in a very special way. And he said he would manifest himself. But if you have a need — you don't have to say anything. I'm just asking to be vulnerable. I'm just asking to be vulnerable. Would you please just make your way to this altar right now, if you have a need? You don't have to clarify it. I mean, Financial, healing, emotional, you know, whatever. Just a need. "I just have a need. My life's not perfect. I just have a need."
