Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

The garment prepared during failure

  • He pauses before whoever is closing comes: the only man that was perfect that God ever used was himself in flesh; every other man has been flawed, and God has always been up to using and giving second chances.
  • Moses came down off the mountain and all we talk about is the two tables of the law, but Moses had also received everything about the tabernacle - the plans, the commandments, the laws, the statutes - and every bit of what Aaron the priest was supposed to wear.
  • And all the while, at the foot of the mountain, Aaron was building a golden calf and they were worshiping it; when Moses confronted him, Aaron lied about it - the gold was cast into the fire and the calf came out - but he had formed it and fashioned it himself.

A priest who knows failure

  • God told Moses to prepare a tailored garment for Aaron while Aaron was failing, because he knew he was going to need a priest that knew what failure looked like - and a priest that knows what failure looks like knows how to have mercy.
  • So God is clothing him while he is failing, knowing that another day will come when he puts the garment on and a brother comes to him with a problem, and he can say: I know what you're talking about; I had a little of that in me one time - but I repented, and when you repent, you stop repeating.
  • He renews the invitation over the men: if you want to go home different, lift your hands - Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me - now let him touch you.

I'm about to invite whoever's closing this out to come. But if I could have your attention for just a moment, I believe there's another wave of his glory to come. >> But I want you to listen to me. >> The only man that was perfect that God ever used was himself in flesh. >> Every other man has been flawed. >> That's right. >> That's right, brother. >> That's right. >> Are you following me? Every other man other than Jesus, God in flesh, every other man has been flawed >> and he's always been up to using and giving second chances. >> Moses came down off the mountain and all we talk about is two tables or tablets that he had. >> But Moses had also received >> everything about the tabernacle. He'd received the plans. >> He had every bit of it. >> And guess what? He also had everything that the priest was supposed to wear. So God's telling Moses on the mountain, "Here's the tabernacle. Here's the commandments. Here's the laws. Here's the statutes. Here's what Aaron the priest is going to wear. Do you know what's happening at the foot of the mountain? >> Aaron is building a golden calf >> and they're worshiping a golden calf and God's up here like that's not even going on. >> Said, I'm going to tell you, there's going to be a day you're going to you're going everything you brought out of Egypt, you're going to you're going to prepare a garment. It's going to look like this, going to look like this, going to look because it's going to be for Aaron because he's the priest. He gets down to the bottom. He's got all his measurements for a guy's like, "What are you doing? I can't do anything. You're gone. You've lost your mind." I think the reason he threw the tablets down, it wasn't the calf. It was that he's trying to figure out how's God going to use this guy. I've got a tailored outfit waiting >> for him. >> And he's acting like a fool down here. >> He's even lying. >> Oh, read it real close. >> He said, "What happened there?" And he said, "Well, they brought their they brought their all their gold and silver and stuff down here and I put it in the fire and this thing came out." >> It did not. >> You formed it. You fashioned it. You made it. Yes. >> But guess what? The reason God did that is cuz he knew he was going to need a priest >> that knew what failure looked like. >> Cuz a priest that knows what failure looks like knows how to have mercy. >> All right. That's good. >> So he's clothing him >> while he's failing. >> Yeah. knowing that you just give him another day, he'll turn around and there'll be a day he'll put this on and there'll be somebody will come up and they'll say, >> "You know what, Aaron? God's doing so good. >> But then I had this problem." >> He's like, "I know what you're talking about, brother. >> I had a little that in me one time." >> Exactly. >> That's right. >> But I repented. >> I repented. And when you repent, you stop repeating. >> So here's what I feel. If you really want a breakthrough, if you don't want to go back home, I want to tell some of you, your wife calls, she wants you to come home different. >> She didn't really, but she does. >> If you want to go home different, I wish you'd lift your hands while whoever's coming And I want us to do it one more time. Jesus, son of David, >> thou son of David, son of David, >> have mercy on me. >> Now, let him touch you. Let him touch you.
