Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

Move only when the cloud moves

  • Israel did not move by the calendar, the season, or a committee vote: they watched a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night, and if the cloud was not taken up, they did not journey — whether it sat a day, a week, a month, or years.
  • Exodus chapter 40 tells how the tabernacle was set up, the cloud covered the tent, and the glory of God filled the house until Moses could not even walk in; the presence of God alone set the itinerary.
  • Numbers 9 is just as stubborn: however long the cloud sat, the camp sat. He reads verse 17 — when the cloud was taken up from the tabernacle, the children of Israel journeyed, and in the place where the cloud stayed, there the children of Israel pitched their tents.
  • In Numbers 10 the cloud finally lifts: Judah takes the first rank — praise goes first — and only then is the tabernacle taken down, covered, and carried out.

Scriptures: Exodus 40; Numbers 9; Numbers 9:17; Numbers 10

The burden of the sons of Kohath

  • Levi's house held three clans with three different weights — the same bloodline, but not the same burden. The other two clans were supplied wagons and oxen for the curtains, the coverings, the boards, the bars, and the pillars; the sons of Kohath got no wagons at all.
  • The ark, the table, the candlestick, and the altar were never given wheels: the holiest things in the camp moved only on the shoulders of the men appointed to carry them.
  • Numbers 4 verse 1 says their service is about the most holy things; and verse 15 has Aaron and his sons finish covering everything first, then the sons of Kohath come to bear it — but they must not touch any holy thing, lest they die.
  • Numbers 7:9 gives the reason no wagon came to Kohath: 'he gave none,' because the service of the sanctuary belonging to them was that 'they should bear it upon their shoulders.' The presence of God has never moved without someone feeling its weight.

Scriptures: Numbers 4:1; Numbers 4:15; Numbers 7:9

Kora wanted the blessing without the burden

  • Kora was no visitor to the story: son of Ishar, son of Kohath, son of Levi — first cousin to Moses and Aaron — a man who already lived inside the tribe and walked among holy things. He reads the verse twice over: Kora took men.
  • Kora's frustration was that he had to carry the table and never eat of it, carry the candlesticks and never see their light, feel the weight of the ark through its covering and never see what Aaron saw beyond the veil — and after years of carrying holy weight, he wanted holy reward.
  • 'All the congregation are holy' is the spirit of Kora: it wants the platform, the microphone, the title — it wants what Aaron had — while Kohath's calling is named in one word: burden. Giftedness got Kora close, but submission would have kept him alive.

Scriptures: Numbers 16:1; Numbers 16:1

The children of Kora died not

  • Moses answers him from Numbers 16 and 9: was it a small thing that the God of Israel had separated them to bring them near to himself, to do the service of the tabernacle — 'and seek ye the priesthood also'?
  • Numbers 16:32: the earth opened her mouth and swallowed them up — Kora, his men, their houses and their goods went down alive into the pit, and the ground closed over a generation that wanted access without the burden.
  • But the mercy line of the whole story is Numbers 26 and verse 11: notwithstanding, the children of Kora died not. The children watched their fathers swallowed up and learned the other lesson.
  • A generation later the sons of Kora are writing psalms: Psalm 42 and 1 gives their thirst for God, and Psalm 84 their settled choice — a day in his courts is better than a thousand elsewhere; they would rather hold the door of the house than dwell in the tents of the wicked.
  • And in 2 Chronicles 20 and 19, the Levites of the children of the Korites stood up 'to praise the Lord God of Israel with a loud voice on high' — the next generation can open its mouth to God no matter what the previous one did.

Scriptures: Numbers 16:9; Numbers 16:32; Numbers 26:11; Psalm 42:1; Psalm 84:10; 2 Chronicles 20:19

Don't lose the burden

  • He tells of Yuza, who put the ark on a cart of convenience instead of on shoulders and reached to steady what was supposed to be covered — and it ended his life. A cart is what happens when the burden starts to feel too heavy.
  • Closing with Galatians 6, he says the whole passage is about bearing one another's burdens — but no one will bear anybody else's burden without first bearing the weight of his glory; until the presence of God is inside you, you have no love to give and no peace to give.
  • His prayer is simply, 'Lord, don't let me lose the burden' — and he calls everyone going through something to take a brother or a sister by the hand and lift them up: you're my brother, you're my sister, and the presence of God is inside of me.

Just shake hands with somebody next to you and tell them it's good to see them. The house of the Lord tonight. We've see guests sprinkled in all across the congregation of the wonderful faithful saints of First Apostolic Church. God bless each and every one of you for being here in the house of the Lord on this Sunday night. I just want to preach to you tonight. It'll be a little bit different. I'm not going to be very long, but I pray that we could linger in the altar for a few minutes tonight. It's already been said. You heard quite a message this morning. >> And as I was going to preach, I was going to preach a little bit about victory tonight. >> All right. >> But I decided I better not try that since it's already been done as well as it's been done. Maybe we'll save that one for another time. Amen. And so I'm going to stay in my lane tonight and just preach a little bit a little a little bit of what I feel the Lord leading me. And so I I'm so thankful to be in a church. I'm so thankful to be in a church that's led by the presence of God. >> Tonight as we sung the songs, you could feel the presence of God sweep into the room. And so tonight, I'm going to go straight to I'm going to go straight into my sermon and we will read plenty of scripture. But before you're seated tonight, could you just lift your hands and just maybe close your eyes, spend a moment just filling after the spirit of God, the presence of God. Come on. That's it. I hear I hear a Holy Ghost fil man of God beginning to speak in the language that is the evidence of that spirit. Come on. Would you lift up your voice? Come on. No matter how long you've been in this thing or if you're brand new to it, would you lift up your voice for a moment? >> >> Jesus, we love you. Jesus, we love you. I'll tell you where I'm going and I'll let you be seated. But I feel very strongly there's going to be a deep move of the presence of God in this place tonight. I don't know how it'll end. I've wept many times this afternoon, somewhat frustrated with the fact that I can't really get everything I want on paper. But I have surrendered this to God because he says, "You just need to kind of get out of the way tonight." So I'm going to do everything I can to just quickly do what I feel led to do. say what I feel led to say and I'm going to leave it up to the Lord. But I believe so strongly the Lord will work >> if we'll let him. >> And I'm just here to tell you tonight, if you'll surrender your heart and you'll surrender your situation and you'll surrender your worries and you'll surrender your sin, you'll surrender whatever it is that has you bound that God's going to move in a way tonight that perhaps he hadn't moved in your life in quite some times. I believe it. I believe it's going to happen in the name of Jesus. Tonight I want to preach to you for just a few moments on this topic. Same bloodline, different burden. Same bloodline, different burden. You can be seated tonight. Throughout the entire Old Testament, the people of God, the children of Israel had a theology of movement. They had a system of movement. They did not leave because the calendar said so. They didn't shift because uh perhaps the the sun was a little bit hotter or the leaves were changing on the trees. They did not change or do things based upon the calendar year. They did not set up camp or move because some committee voted on it. They watched a pillar of fire and a pillar of cloud. Exodus chapter 40 tells us the tabernacle is set up. The cloud covers the tent and the glory fills the house until Moses cannot even walk in. By day it is by cloud and by night it is by fire. It is completely left up to the presence of God. If the cloud is taken up, they go. If it is not taken up, they do not journey. No matter if it is a day, a week, a month, or years, they are completely dependent upon the presence of God. It was not up to a person. It was not up to anybody or anything, but simply if the fire don't go, we don't go. >> The scripture reminds me, the story reminds me, he says, Lord, if you don't go, I'm not going to go. I It's that simple tonight. It's led by the spirit. Numbers nine is is almost as stubborn about it as Exodus 40. But two days, a month, a year, however long the cloud sat, the camp sat, nothing moved, nothing transitioned, nothing was packed up. Nothing was to happen as long as the cloud Terry, it's not about some kind of of of of fairy tale or some kind of storyline or some sort of poetry. It is simply the protocol of the journey. They kept the the law of the Lord. It is protocol that the presence of God sets the itinerary. >> There is a system. There is a structure. There is a plan. We have planning center online that many of our production is following that our band and musicians are following that we want to go through. But ultimately, I am so thankful for the moments where God steps in and interrupts whatever that is that we have planned and the glory of God says, "Hey, we're going to move right here. Hey, we're going to shift right here. Hey, we're going to we're going to I'm going to touch somebody's life in this moment." Does that I'm thankful for that. And and you you say, "Well, we we get that every week." That's not as common in every other church as it is here. here. And so I never want to take it for granted that we allow the presence of God to come in and to change and to shift and to move, interrupt, we could say it that way, the service. Numbers 9 and verse number 17 says, "And when the cloud was taken up from the tabernacle, then after the children of Israel journeyed, and in the place where the clouds abode, there the children of Israel pitched their tents." Numbers 10 is is the morning the cloud will finally lift. Judah takes up the first rank. If you could just see this with me in the story. Judah takes up rank and they go first and praise goes first. Then the tabernacle comes down. They begin to notice this that praise goes out ahead of the group because the clouds moved and then they start taking down the tabernacle. They start disassembling everything that is supposed to be this place, this plan. This is the the blueprint of relationship with God. We pray the tabernacle now. We have it as this blueprint of our process. It lays out the gospel of what we will see preached from the Old Testament. Now it is the New Testament, blood, water, and spirit. They begin to disassemble the the the the altar. They begin to disassemble the labor. They begin to take down the table of shoebre and the altar of incense and the golden candlesticks. and they begin to they go through the process of of tearing down the veil. And as they take down the veil, they cover the ark of the covenant. They don't go in and disassemble or touch that ark. They take that veil down. And Aaron and his sons cover that ark. >> The only t thing you're touching on that ark is those rods that are for shoulder of the men that would bear the burden. tabernacle comes down and these tribes all of a sudden start. You could just see the structure and the system. The cloud is moving. Can you imagine what it would be like to be gathered around? Everything's every the the center of everybody's life is this tabernacle. It's it's an amazing thing if you study out the pictures and the depictions that they give us of what it would have looked like. But everybody's watching this cloud. The day could quickly shift because the cloud moved. It could seem like just another day, but all of a sudden things start changing because the protocol and everything that took place was all based upon the presence of God. We see this process begins to happen. Gersham and Marari roll out with the wagons. They have four wagons and eight oxen. And as they roll out in the sanctuary, they begin to take the things apart and the ark goes and the front of the nation. Three days journey to search out the resting place. And Moses shouts out when it moves. And all these things happen. And it's such an interesting process and system of movement. Moses would shout out when it rests and they would begin to set up camp. Again, they did not drive the presence of God. The presence of God drove them. >> We see that this is a in this world there was a group of people and they were the Levites and of the Levites there was a boy named Kohath that was born into this tribe of Levi. You do not uh you you you you see this process. You didn't, you know, start the service. You didn't do anything without the presence of God. You pick up what God is. You you go through the protocol. You cover the things. You assemble the things. You do everything. And these Levites are the people who have been assigned with the task of moving the tabernacle. The Levites are the emphasized tribe of the this this of the 12 tribes. The Levites are these people that that that that they have been commissioned with the idea of moving what would be considered the presence of God. The current gospel that we see of blood, water, and spirit. The Levites and Levi had three sons. Three sons of Gersian, Kohath, and Marari, however you want to pronounce that tonight. Three clans, one tribe. Three different Three different clans within this one tribe. the three sons of Levi. And it's so unique here. And I'm going to try to set this up that you can understand it for us to get where we're going. But they all had three different weights. They all had three different responsibilities. They didn't all have the same burden. They didn't all have the same responsibility. Gerson, he was he he's they got the carts. They have the they have to take care of all the architectural part, the curtains, the coverings, the hangings, the skin of the house. and and they are supplied with two wagons as you can imagine and four oxen. And Marari got the kind of what we could refer to as the skeleton of the tabernacle, the boards, the bars, the pillars, the sockets again, four wagons, eight oxmen. We see that this process, but when it comes to the sons of Kohath, they get no wagons. You you you get nothing that's going to help you burden and bear the ark, the table, the candlestick, and the altar. The vessels, we see that it is the same bloodline, but it is a different burden. It is the same group of people, but it's not all the same. I don't know if you can imagine, but there's you kind of could look across the aisle at old cousin over there who's throwing his stuff up on the back of the cart while you're over there stacking what you know is about to be on your shoulders. Same bloodline, but a different burden. It's a different weight. One gets to walk beside while another walks under the weight of the glory of the shoebre of the golden candlesticks. And Kohath's boys were Amran, Isar, Hebron, and Uziel. From Amron from from Amram came Moses and Aaron. I want you to see this tonight. I'm going to intentionally kind of walk you through this blood. I think if I read this in the text, you would all fall asleep. But let me just give you how it how it goes here. And some of you are thinking, I'm asleep already anyways. But from from Amram came Moses and Aaron. This is the part you skip over in your yearly reading. You know, from from Ishar came. That means that the sons of Kora that we always preach about was not just a visitor in the story. Kora is the first cousin of Moses and Aaron. He's the first cousin of the men that he will eventually accuse. He already lives inside the tribe. He already walks among holy things. Numbers 16:1 says, "Now Kora, the son of Ishar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, took men." What does that mean? It means that the Levites, he's in the tribe of Levi. But then he's also Kora is of the sons of Kohath. And again, I know you're thinking, what in the world are we talking about tonight? Just give me just a mo a moment. So Kohath's sons were Amra, Isar, Ebron, and Uziel. And from Amram came Moses and Aaron. From Isar came Kora. And and we see that Kohath was given this responsibility. The Co Kathites keep the charge of the sanctuary. The ark, the table, the candlesticks, the altars, the vessels. Eleazar oversees them. In other words, they're not only just doing it. They got somebody sitting there watching their every move. You got to do this right. Don't you touch something that you're not supposed to touch. Don't you look at something you're not supposed to look at. Don't you you're not to be exposed. We see that numbers 4 verse number one says their service is about the most holy of things. When the camp moves Aaron and his sons cover everything. They take the veil. They take this blue cloth of badger skin. And many think that that that is even some blue kind of off gray dolphin skin that they would wrap up that and they took the staves and they would put it through and they would begin to bear the weight of the tabernacle elements that signified what was holy. They must not touch the holy thing uncovered. They must not see the holy things uncovered lest they die. The Lord calls this the burden of the sons of Kohath. >> Every man is appointed to his service and his burden, but it's not all the same. Aaron and his sons would go in. They would take down that veil. They would cover the ark. They would go through the process. says, "And after that the sons of Kohath," numbers 4 and 15, if you're making notes, want to read this later, "shall come to bear it, but they shall not touch any of the holy things, or they will die." Eleazar is watching they're going through. Just imagine what a process is. You know, you you just just go through and think of how intricate it is to maybe put together that toy or something that you got your kid. you know, somebody bought bought the kid for Christmas and you're trying to put together this thing and you're are trying to assemble it and you got all these parts and you got the bag you're trying to open. You're trying to keep up with all the pieces and you got to make sure that you don't over, you know, you don't you don't over drill this and you don't overdo that and this part might be you sure that was this part and you sure that was labeled this? You sure it's not just you putting together a playhouse for little Suzy? You touch something that's not covered with badger skin, there he goes. I mean, pastor said it this morning. I'm so thankful that I live or he said it tonight, maybe. I'm thankful that I live in this dispensation. Amen. It touched anything. You're a dead man. >> It's a serious process. Numbers 79, he says, "Be unto the sons of Kath, he gave none because the service of the sanctuary belongth unto them was that they should bear it upon their shoulders. So, Gersam and Maria, they get they get they receive wagons and oxen, but these sons of Kohath are going to have to bear a different burdens. The holiest of things will never and have never rode unconvenient, easy, >> nonsacrifice. >> Never has the spirit or the presence or the glory of God came, moved, existed on anything that didn't cause mankind to feel the weight. of something. >> Take up your cross >> daily. >> It is over and over and over and over again. You say, "Why don't I feel the presence of God?" Because the blessing of his presence comes from the burdening burden sacrifice. All right. >> So, we see this process is is so important and it's fel it's all you got 12 tribes but it's fallen upon just not just a tribe but specifically on this group the sons of Kohath are to carry when the cloud moves. They are to move with precision. They are supposed to do everything right. But from the sons of Kohath, there's a man named Kora. Kora has an issue because Kora doesn't really care for the burden. >> Kora has an issue because Kora wants the blessings of the tribe but not the burden of his presence. >> It's it's a simple thing. You've heard of Kora a lot, but Kora is not some random person that didn't know the protocol. Kora is a son of Kohath. Sor Kora was raised to know. But Kora has an issue with cousin Aaron. Kora has an issue because he he can he it's frustrating to think that I'm going to have to carry something >> that I don't get to take part in. >> All right. >> So, this is where it all and Moses calls it out. I'll read it to you here in a minute. But Kora's whole issue, whole problem is, Brother White, that I'm going to have to carry this table of shoeb bread and I never get to eat it. >> That's right. >> I'm going to have to carry these golden candlesticks, but I never see a glimpse of its light. I'm going to have to carry this presence of God that supposedly it just sits between the two cherubams above the mercy seat where the priest sprinkled some blood. But I've never seen the two cherubams. I've just felt the weight of it. I've never seen it. I've never tasted it. I've I've never even truly touched it. I have to touch it through a covering. I have to touch it through this badger skin. I have to feel the weight of it, but I don't get the perks that Abram >> Aaron gets to Aaron gets to go in and see the presence of God. Aaron gets to put that >> he gets to put that table his shoe. He gets to sit down at that altar of incense and smell and feel and experience. And Aaron gets to go beyond the veil that I have to fill. It's a He begins to envy Aaron because I want the blessing. I want I I want to be able to go in. I want to be able to experience it if I'm going to have to carry it. Kora, first cousin to Moses and Aaron, already in the clan assigned for most holy things, already in the right place, but it wasn't enough for him. I'm not going to stay here long because I don't have time to. But we must be careful at all ages >> when the work of God is never enough. I remember growing up thinking, man, I really feel like I should be doing X. Doing this is really getting old. I really, you know, teaching teaching these crazy 16 kids in Sunday school is getting kind of obnoxious, a little bit frustrating at times. You know, running this this new screen thing at the church and nobody really knew what we were doing. You know, we had those projectors and those things and we're trying to figure it out. And half the time it wouldn't work. Half the time the bulb was out. Half the time what was on it didn't look good. What are we doing? Huh? I just feel like I'm carrying a burden, but I don't really get to experience the preaching to somebody tonight. if I could for a moment in the sound booth or the lighting booth or up in a production room that's carrying a burden but sometimes don't get to feel >> what's in the room. >> I'm preaching to somebody tonight that's out that's in the back watching a kid perhaps changing the dirty diaper of what you gave birth to while you're in here feeling the glory. >> Huh? >> While you're standing here hearing the glory of God come down. And the choir's singing hallelujah. They're in there smelling a dirty diaper. >> Huh? >> Yeah. It's it's a it's a short list. It's a short list of folks that want to bear the burden of nursery. >> It's not always right now. We're we're needing some folks in a few different ministries, but sometimes it's hard. It's hard to want to bear the burden when we can just come in. I just want to preach to you for a few moments. Don't get frustrated. Don't get caught up. I know things are not always what they seem. I know sometimes people don't see the mundane. I know sometimes people don't feel the frustrations. Nobody sees you. Get here early, band. >> They're having to unlock the doors so you can get in. >> You're standing outside here before anybody else is. I I I just want to to make sure and let you know that God sees you shouldering the weight. >> Even though you might not be standing right next to the Ark of the Covenant, >> even though you might not be holding this mic tonight, I'm thankful to God that I've been in about every ministry inside the church. I'm thankful for every person in this place that puts that they they put their shoulder underneath the weight of that table of shoebread. They put their shoulder underneath the weight of what it takes to make Thank you for standing out there and waving at guests. Thank you for putting on a vest. Thank you for stirring up a coffee for a guest this morning. Thank you for taking care of the kids and kids. Thank you for shouldering the weight. Oh my god. Could we give a just a round of applause to all the teachers at ACA for a moment? To all of our ACA pre, thank you for bearing the weight. I know we we could never pay you what you truly deserve, but thank you for bearing the weight. All we're trying to do is get the presence of God from right here into somebody's life. I'm here to stir up tonight. >> Stir up a I I applaud all you that are signed up in too many ministries and we're having to try to keep you we have to keep you in in check on Planning Center because if we're not careful, you'll be serving in anywhere and everywhere. >> But could I stir up some folks that just come to church? I I'm thankful that you're here, but there's times where we need to burden. We need to burden the weight of the glory. That might just be you worshiping. >> That might just be you stepping out in the aisle and creating an atmosphere on Sunday morning. It might just be you being here early for prayer on Sunday morning and Sunday night creating an what am I doing? I'm burdening what God's about to do. Because the spirit of God is not just going to move. It's going to take the burden of a man, of a father, of a woman, of a mama who says, "This is what we do every Sunday, every creating a bloodline >> that understands the burden >> of the house of God. We follow the cloud. As for me in my house, we serve the Lord. We serve him. Remember the name Kora. It just echoes. It echoes through the scripture of someone who becomes this label, this name that you don't ever want to be associated with. But Kora was the same bloodline. Same tribe, same clan. But number 16 and1 says, "Now Kora, the son of Isar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, took men." Took some men. >> All of a sudden, it became a thing where it was not just Kora. He got him a few people. Right. >> He took him maybe to lunch, you know, got him a few people and started talking about, "Man, they sure do ask a lot of us around here. >> This better be happy that I'm here, you know. >> They sure do ask a lot for us down there at the church. >> It's mere attendance. I mean, I I they better be happy that I came on Sunday night." >> All of a sudden, they start talking some things. This is a big old church. They don't need me to do nothing. They needed me up on the road, but they don't need me now. >> That's a lie >> from the father of lies. >> There's more work >> and there's more to burden than there's ever been at First Apostolic Church of Marville, Tennessee. We need everybody that can feel the burden, that can understand the pulse of the presence of God, to get up under and to shoulder the weight of what God's trying to do in this city, in our world, in the end time harvest. It can't happen without the sons of Kohab. It don't happen. The the cloud could have moved. We understand that tonight. Cloud could have moved. Judah could have went on praising, but if the sons of Kohath don't move the tabernacle, >> oh, I'm fearful that the clouds moved on from many of places >> because people have lost a burden >> and they're entitled to a bloodline. >> They forgot what it's all about, >> but they're glad to just have a place to come worship. They forgot what got them to where they're at and the clouds done moved on. Perhaps moved to another city, perhaps fell on another person. And you got a person that's burdened over here because the Lord knows the presence of God is the only thing that moves. It's the only thing that changes. It's the only thing. It's the only reason we're here tonight. But this rebel Kora didn't come from across town. He came from within the tribe. He walked next to the ark. >> He perhaps put his shoulder under it under underneath it. Cohath received a burden. But Kora demanded a title. Kora wanted a platform. Kora wanted a microphone. Corora wanted to be seen. Corora wanted what Aaron had. Kohath's calling is named in one word, burden. They were the people of a burden, not a brand. They were it was all about weight. It says he took Kora took men. Kora gathers 250 famous princes. The Bible says rises against Moses and Aaron. His charge sounds spiritual. Hear me tonight. >> Kora sounds spiritual. All the congregation are holy. This is a spirit of the age. I feel under the Holy Ghost to preach to you tonight. Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no. Nowhere in this Bible. I don't care what podcast says. I don't care what what what the I don't care what any preachers pedalling. >> There is a certain burden that falls on certain people. >> Everybody can receive the Holy Ghost and everybody can go to the heaven through the death, burial and resurrection Jesus Christ through repentance, baptism in Jesus name. infilling the Holy Ghost. We understand all that tonight. >> But nowhere in this Bible is it about equality. >> It's not all the same cross. It's not all the same tempting. It's not all the same. >> Can't >> take up your It's personal. Yes, we are in covenant with one another. >> But it is not about just because you got it, he got it. That's the spirit of Kora. >> We're all holy. >> We're all Aaron. We're all Moses. >> Go ahead. >> This is the spirit. I'm just preaching to you for a moment. You're going to have to I know it's quiet. I know nobody really wants to hear this, but this is the This is the silent agreement with ministry today. >> This is the silent agreement that's going on in the nominal world today >> with preachers. Hey, hey, if you we're we're all the same. It's not it. >> The covering >> is what allowed them to move the presence of God. The spirit of Kora is the spirit that looks around and says, "Well, I could do this >> and I could do that. We're all holy." And he says, "You've taken too much upon you." That's what it says. >> He wants to spread the burden out. If he wanted the burden to be on all 12 tribes, he would have said, "Hey, why don't this tribe take the ark? And why don't this tribe take the labor? And why don't this tribe take?" >> But guess what? >> Then Kora would have been looking over there thinking, "I want to carry the ark, not the labor." Why? Because the spirit of Kora is never content. You could give or you could give Kora the ark and and Kora would get upset because you know I can't truly see it. It's covered up. >> It's a spirit that we cannot let get into our hearts, our minds, our mentality. >> He looks at a Moses and Aaron. He looks at the man of God that had been appointed and masked by burden, masked by his bloodline, he wants to help, but he really wants control. And so Mo Moses calls out the real issue in Numbers 16 and9. sealth it small thing unto you that God of Israel hath separated you in his spirit of trying to create equality. He says, "The spirit of God that God of Israel has separated you to bring you near to himself to the service of the tabernacle and seek ye the priesthood also." There's a lot we can get into there, but Kohath talks about burden. It's all about burden. Kora talks about fairness. It's just not fair. Kohath's language. The sons of Kohath are all about moving the presence of God. You take too much upon you. You need to spread out God's anointing. We're just all the same. I understand that we live in the dispensation of the church. I understand that we've all been filled with the spirit, but nowhere when Jesus speaks does he speak in that language. It's some's going to bring forth certain fruit and c some's going to and again I'm not come to preach solely on that tonight but I want you to understand that the spirit there is a spirit of the age and I can't really get get right uh past it at the moment but Kora was already in the place he needed to be but he was discontent near was not enough >> he wanted the office that God had not assigned gifted in other areas but envious of of Aaron. >> That's so true. >> That spirit still is in our world today. >> We're all holy. Who are you to stand here and say anything to me? >> Who are you to tell me the beginning of Satan, his pride, wearing a robe of worship? You can grow up next to holy things, still mishandle them. So the question tonight is simply this. Are you the son of Kohath? Are you a son of Kora? Kohath waited for the covering. Kora uncovered what was not his. Covering was everything. Some people never go far because they lack covering. Kora would not wait. He would not He would not He He takes the sensors and he walks. He goes and we see the story pan out. And this is a great thing for you to go back and read through the whole story. It's quite interesting there in the book of Numbers. Moses says, "If the earth opens up and they go down alive, then these men have provoked the Lord the ground clave a thunder for consumed." The fire consumed 250 of them. They offered incense and these sensors would be beaten into plates and they would cover the altar with the the sensors as they would be beaten down into flat pieces of a plate. And it would be made in a memorial into a memorial that no stranger come near to offer incense that he be not as Kora. Kora was in the bloodline but didn't want the burden. Just wanted access. Numbers 16:32. And the earth opened her mouth. This is the famous story. Swallowed them up. I don't know about you. I wouldn't want to been close, but it would have been neat to see from a distance. It's like something you would see on a you know that Hollywood or some video game would just like a portal like that just opens up in the floor and they can you imagine swallows up 250 people. It opens the ground opens up and swallows them up and their houses and all the men cora and all their goods they went down alive into the pit. So we see it's quite the story is quite the visual learning for everybody standing around. They said they told him they said you need to back up. Stay away from them. Keep your distance. The same lesson returns to many people throughout the pages as you keep turning after the book of Numbers. The presence of God cannot be moved unless it's on the shoulder of men. The Levites would bear the ark of God, their shoulders with the staves thereon. And Moses commanded according to the word of the Lord. It continues. It continues. Kohath continued in their assignment as many would watch and learn from the sons of Kora. The people who were swallowed up. The people who were more concerned with blessings than the burden. My prayer simply is this tonight. Lord, don't let me lose the burden. God, I I I don't I don't ever want to lose >> the burden. >> I I don't ever want to forget why we're here. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter if the song is sung and it's not the song we like or it's not the song. Maybe it's not even in key. Rarely would it ever happen around here, but it's just not all happening and it's not all what you expected it to be and it's not your favorite this or favorite that. It doesn't matter. The whole presence of God is the purpose. >> You say it's it's a it's a little loud. It's a little soft. It's a little hot. It's a little cold. It's a little this. A little it just we're about presence. We're here for his presence. >> We're here for the glory of the almighty God. I I don't ever want to I'll never forget as I was reading this story. I remember being a very young man. Lord, I don't know how young I was. They took Rodney would probably remember this tonight, but they took a little set of drums and they put it next to the drums. We had real a smaller church. And during practice, I would sit up there and bang on those drums. I'll never forget I was probably Hampton's age or maybe even younger and my grandfather who was a r a really large man. I remember one time I was coming down and we were going to prayer room was around the back of the stage and he was on his way and he grabbed me and pulled me to the wall as only he could and he said you just remember you don't ever come on this stage with anything in your heart. You don't ever come on this stage with any sin in your life. He said, "I don't care how burdened you are or how gifted you are. We don't step foot on this platform." Brother Clay and I cannot tell you how many times I would literally walk and I would take us just a second to think, God, I'm thankful, but Lord, if there's anything in my heart, I I don't I prayed the same prayer before I walked out here tonight a as as an older individual, but I thought of the words of my grandfather. Don't Don't you, Pastor Carver, don't don't you try to put that thing on a cart. Don't Don't you try to do something outside. Eleazar is watching, but don't you try to slip up here and think that you're going to do something with the wrong motive. Don't you dare come up here and think that you're going to play an instrument or you're going to sing a song or we're going to run a camera. We're going to do anything of any service under burden with the wrong motive. in justest at somebody acting as if we are something when we are not. I don't ever want to lose my burden. But the most powerful thing about this bloodline is numbers 26 and verse number 11. 250 people are swallowed up. And thank God, thank God there was some little eyes watching >> from the tribe of Levi. >> Thank God there was some people. You say that's terrible. It's terrible that people had to die. >> All right. >> But oh, thank God there was some there was some young folks. There was maybe a young married couple that stepped back when Moses gave a warning. Said, "I don't want nothing to do with that. That's not who we are. We're the sons of Kohath. We're the people of all people. We've got to remain right with God. I don't want God displeased with me. I don't want there to be anything in my I'm going to remove my I'm going to listen to the man of God. I'm going to listen to the voice of God. Whatever I got to do, I'm going to step back. But they see the ground open up and 250 people are swallowed up. >> But they're in the same bloodline. Now withstanding the children of Kora died not the children watched dad grandpa be swallowed up by the earth. And so a generation le later heading on we can thumb into the book of Psalms and you will find there are Psalms written. >> Yes sir. >> We've read them before and maybe we didn't know the full background or maybe you did but you I I hope it resonates a little bit more tonight. The children of the people who saw >> Papa Kora >> swallowed up. That's right. That's right. >> Because he had the wrong spirit. >> The children and the grandchildren watched and a generation le later heading into the book of Psalms. They're not, it's not said above the header of who wrote the psalm. It doesn't say brother Sulliv. It doesn't say that the children of the man who got swallowed up by the ground. It says, "For the sons of Kora, they became singers. They became doorkeepers. They became worship leaders." You know, from the sons of Kora comes Samuel. From the sons of Kora came Hemon, the singer comes from that line. Look at this. Psalms 42 and1. As the de as the as the heart panth after the water book, so panneth my soul after thee, oh God. That's written by the people who watched >> the ground open up. >> That's written by the people who were in the right bloodline. But grandpa, he got he got he got lost when the wrong motives and the wrong ideas. But they they saw and they witnessed the wrath of God and they learned and said, "Oh, my heart panth after thee, oh God." Psalms 84, they write. It's those same sons of Kora. They write, "For a day in thy courts." >> You're telling me that I thought day No, no. The sons of Kora wrote, "A day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I'd rather be a What a what a shift. What a change in a generation to someone who Kora was walking around kicking open doors, >> forcing themselves into situations they were not into. I I I'm supposed to be in there where Aaron's at. >> I'm supposed to be in there where the arcs at. I'm supposed to be in there where the tables of shoe breath. I'm supposed to be here. I'm supposed to be doing this. I'm not going to carry around a bunch of stuff if I'm not going to be the one with the mic in my hand. I'm not going to carry the weight. I'm not going to pray in the prayer room if you're not going to give me a solo. I'm not going to give to this. So, all of a sudden, God's judgment falls upon the wrong spirit. God's judgment falls upon the man who loses his burden. But there was some children who watched and said, "No, Siri, I will not. I will not. I will. Better is a day in thy courts than a thousand else I'll carry. But I'll just if if you don't ever let I know my I know daddy I know granddaddy was he he he was swallowed up by the ground. If you'll just let me hold the door. Would you just let me hold the door? Would you just let me shake your hands as they come into a place that a generation before me they neglected? A generation before me thought they were entitled to be here. a generation before me thought, "No, no, I just want to hold the door." Better is one day in this place than a thousand elsewhere. I've come to preach. You got to have the right spirit. And it's all about the burden. I promise you, if you get a burden, you're going to see the blessings. If you get a burden, the doors are going to open up. But if you get a burden, you'll see anything that you can do in the house of the Lord as a blessing from God. >> It's as if the sons of Kora, there's a shift. There's a change. And it's like, I don't care what I do. It's just about where I'm doing it. >> I just want to be in the house of God. I'd rather be here just holding the door >> than dwell in the tents >> of the wicked. I bet you would cuz it's the tents of the wicked that went through the earth. >> Could I preach to you for a moment? parents, God forbid, >> God forbid your sons and your daughters have to learn from judgment. >> God forbid, God forbid they see us just come in and just have the wrong spirit. and we just soothe our conscience by mere attendance. We don't do anything in the house of God. We don't carry the presence. We don't worship. We don't do any of the thing. It doesn't matter what they do or what they say. We've just got a little bit of a a spirit of I really ought to be doing this or I really ought to be doing that. I don't want any generation to have to learn with the Thompson through judgment. >> I've had many people ask me why I do what I do. I watch my mom and my dad sacrifice. I watched my dad, my mom work secular jobs. My dad would drive a car or drive a truck. He would work and work and work. He would carry parts for an old junkyard. Old friend of ours. I remember as a kid him working there, him building houses, him doing everything. and he would still go when he got off work and he would do any and everything at the church because the church church didn't really have a way a means to support him. I watched us go from one house to a really small apartment where my mom would go work at the bank, but she would still lead worship. She would still sit down and practice the song. She would still do everything she's always done >> because it was about a burden. It wasn't about I mean it wasn't wasn't about if the if they can't they can't pay me this or if they can't give me this opportunity. I watched it my entire life. It's been all about a burden. It's just better as one day >> in his courts. And the Levites 2 Chronicles 20 and 19 look at this with me. and the Levites of the children of the Kathites and of the children of the Korites. See that process? We slow down and emphasize that you have the Levites, you have the Kathites, you have the clan within the tribe, and then you have the children of Kora stood up to praise the Lord God of Israel >> with a loud voice on high. Oh, could I preach to you tonight? I don't care if God opened up the ground and swallowed up a previous generation. The next generation can open up their mouth >> unto God. >> Do not let what happened with a previous generation. Do not let your past, do not let anything that's happened before you dictate whether or not you are going to be a burden bearer in the house in the kingdom of God. I I can't stress it to you enough. It is everybody's a first generation Pentecostal. Everybody gets to experience his presence. Everybody needs to step up under the weight, feel >> the burden. sons of Kath, the sons of Kora. One was assigned, the other was assumed. One felt the weight on its shoulders while the other had its hand out for what it felt like it was owed. One covered and carried while the other exposed and proclaimed. It's just a quite the quite the back and forth. Same sanctuary, different spirits. Giftedness got Kora close, but submission would have kept him alive. Please hear me tonight. I know it's counterculture. I know it's not popular, but the presence of God is still looking for a shoulder to fall on. If you came from a fence, if you came from a split home, if you came from disappointed callings, if you came from anything that you would consider a negative past, hear the mercy line again. Now withstanding, the children of Kora died not. You do not have to finish your mother's or your father's sentencing. >> That's right. >> You can write a song instead of rebellion. >> You can open up your mouth loud and sing the songs of Zion instead of feeling the judgment and the wrath of God. I pray tonight in the name of Jesus >> that upon every man, woman, boy, and girl in this room tonight that a fresh burden would fall upon us >> for the reason why we do what we do. >> It is the presence of God. >> It is the presence of God. You say, "Well, what about the world around?" If you've got the presence of God, you're going to be a witness. Well, what about praying? If you've got the presence of God, if that's your burden, you're going to pray. It's all going to come as long as we're watching that pillar of cloud, pillar of fire. I don't want to be Kora. >> I don't want to be Kora. >> Would you close your eyes? Would you lift your hands for just a second? >> My question is tonight, can you move the presence of God? Come on. Can you move the presence of God? Can you shoulder it yourself? Come on. Without a band, without anybody laying hands on you, anybody prophesying over you, can you just shoulder the weight of the room for a moment? >> Come on. That's it. If the presence of God is what it's all about, Could we just long after his presence for just a moment? >> Come on. If you have the Holy Ghost, I wish you'd pray right now. >> Come on. If you've got the Holy Ghost, I wish you'd lift your voice up. God wants to renew a father tonight. God wants to renew a burden. God wants to remind you are a son of Kohath. You are a son that bears the weight. You are a daughter of the most high God. Oh mighty God. Mighty God. Mighty God. Mighty God. >> Oh mighty God. Mighty God. Mighty God. I'm almost done tonight. Would you stand to your feet? Would you lift both your hands right now? Oh, we need the presence of God. Lord, stir us up, God. Stir us up, God. Stir us up, God. No matter your no matter your last name, no matter what your bloodline is, Kora shows us that you can be in the right place, you can be in the right bloodline, but if you lose the burden, you've lost it all. >> God, help us remember, oh God, what it's all about. Jesus. >> Jesus. >> Jesus. Jesus. >> Jesus, we love you tonight. >> Lord, I love you. Jesus, I love you, Jesus. Jesus. >> Oh, I praise you. I praise you. >> Oh, God. I praise you. >> >> Jesus, we love you. >> Jesus, we love you tonight. I feel so strongly tonight to just minister to some of you as I know a large large portion of you. You serve in some capacity. Could I encourage you tonight and silence the voice of the enemy that says they don't need you. No one sees what I'm doing. I'm doing this. I'm doing that. Maybe you don't get the applause. Maybe you don't get the thank you text. Maybe sometimes you get more criticism. Maybe somebody's coming by and ask you to change this, do something different. Maybe you have to handle stuff that is difficult to handle. Thank God for the security team. Thank God for the people that are helping create this atmosphere that we get to experience. You say no no no that yo they are everyone's contributing. Thank God for a brother and sister white. Thank God for people that are teaching Bible studies that are doing things early morning before church even takes place on Wednesday nights are up teaching. >> Brother Stitler, thank you for what you do. Thank you. People on Wednesday night come early. >> Never let the devil tell you. >> That's right. That's right. >> And taking down the curtains, >> taking that veil and wrapping it around that ark, you're the reason you play a part in moving his presence. You know the story tonight, and I'll end with it, although very familiar. David's going to move the ark. There's a man named Yuza. Again, all too familiar with the process. All too familiar. Some would say, you know, the carts, the four carts and the eight oxen were there, Brother Nol. And they were convenient. They were conveniently placed. The wood, the sockets, different things that they would place on there. You try to figure out the story. And as you read into the context of numbers in the book of Leviticus, you can understand it wasn't just like he went and got a cart out of the back of the garage or something and said, "Let's throw this." No, they were there and he looked across and he said, "Oh, cousins got it way easier putting all those bars. Let's just put it on the cart for this one time. It's a long ways. That's a lot of burden. It's another service. It's early prayer. It's all the things you hear from people around you. I can't believe you do what you do. I can't believe you sacrifice like you sacrifice. I can't believe that you do all that you do. Uh you you don't have to do all that stuff. You know what that is? It's a cart of convenience. >> >> No pun intended, but you could just say it's user friendly. Yuza takes what's supposed to be on his shoulders and puts it on a place. I I can't help but think in my mind, again, this is just my theology and my thinking of trying to figure out what how does this happen? Perhaps he set it up and there was a board or a socket underneath it. But when those oxmen be to pull, it be to shake because it wasn't where it was supposed to be. It be to shake. And the Bible says that Yuza reaches to stabilize. He just wants to steady the ark. And he simply touches what's supposed to be covered. He touches what's supposed to be on his shoulders. So, here's what I'm asking you simply tonight. I I I I feel a a shaking in some people's lives. And the shaking and the stirring is good cuz it's not where it's supposed to be. I'm here to just simply ask you to let God shake you a little bit >> and don't try to stop it. There's been too many altar calls where God tries to shake that sin out of you. God tries to stir up that ministry that used to be. God tries to see, is there any fruit on this tree that would fall if I shake it a little bit, >> but you just in your pride just stay back in your seat. Keep those mouth keep your mouth closed and just sit back. and I continue in the same old same old. I'm just praying for a fresh burden cuz I believe if somebody would walk up under his presence tonight that where his presence is, there's liberty, there's strength, there's peace, there's hope. You say, "Ah, the the burden's so heavy." I'm telling you, there's a blessing that comes with that burden that you'll begin to think, Lord, I'm so thankful I don't have to. I get to. I don't have to be at church. I get to Oh, I thank God for the weight of his glory. I thank God for the weight of his glory. How long's it been since you spoke in tongues? How long's it been since you taught a Bible study? How long's it been? God, help us that we've not regressed. God, help us that we've not removed. Come on. Your family needs you. Come on. Your family needs you. Your lost loved ones need you. We don't need anybody getting swallowed up by this world. We don't need anybody getting swallowed up by the agenda of the world. Come on, mom and dad. Your students are going to learn one way or another. Let it not be judgment. Let it be that they beared the burden. They saw the blessings of the burden. >> >> Come on, make a covenant tonight with God. God, I'm going to do my part, God. I'm going to do whatever you call, God. I'm going to listen to you, God. Whatever you need me to do, God. Oh, I'm asking every camera person, every musician, every singer, everybody in the production room. Go Lord, if you could hear me in the nursery, if you could hear me in the lobby tonight, I wish you'd just throw your hands up. Say, God, better is one day in your courts. Better is one day in your courts. I just want to be a doorkeeper, God. God, if I never preach another sermon, God, if I never sing another song, I just want your presence. God, I just want your glory, God. I just want to feel your presence one more time. Come on. Let it not be months since you've spoke in tongues. Let it not be that it's been some time. Feel the presence. Feel the weight. Feel the glory. Come on. I feel like Oh, there's such a shifting that needs to happen in this place tonight. Come on. When the cloud moves, we move. Come on. When the fire moves, we move. Come on. Don't miss the presence of God. Don't miss the presence of God. >> >> Come on, young people. Don't take the house of God for granted. Come on. Not this is not just another building. This is not just where you go to school. This is a holy place. This is a sacred place. This is a place of reverence. This is not just a place where you come and hang out and meet friends. No, no, no, no. This is a holy place. This is where the presence of the Lord meets us at as a body of believers. Come on, get into his presence tonight. Lift up your voice. Come on, lift up your voice to him tonight. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. >> >> Jesus name. Jesus. Jesus. Everything I pray to the Lord. I love you. Everything you love. Heat. Heat. Hallelujah. Let us together. >> >> What a great world. Hallelujah. >> >> Come on. With no music, would you lift your hands up into heaven? And could we make this just a prayer room for a moment? Come on. Let the presence of God lead you for a moment. Oh, that's it. Dad, I hear you. Come on. That's it, man of God. I hear you. Come on. That's it. Prayer warrior. Come on, mom. Lift up your voice. Yellow. Oh, happy. Come on. Come on. Come on. For just a few more moments, could we linger in his presence here? >> Come on. Could you feel the weight of that ark tonight? Could you feel the weight of that glory tonight? I know it may not be easy in your mind. I may some of you may be tired, but I'm telling you, it's worth the prayer. It's worth the lifting up your voice. It's worth casting your cares on him. It's worth Oh, I am telling you, he hears you tonight. He sees you tonight. Come on. Could you push a little bit further than you normally do? Could you just carry the ark a little bit further? Could you feel the weight a little bit more? Or could you pray past your comfort level of what you normally pray? Hallelujah. >> Jesus, we love you tonight. Jesus, we love you tonight. Jesus, we love you tonight. Jesus we love you. >> Jesus we love you. In closing closing tonight pastor can come. I read through the passage of Galatians 6 a couple weeks ago and the entire thing is about bearing one another's burdens. As I read through it the scripture kept coming to my mind pastor that says many get weary. They get weary in welloing. They get weary and welloing. They get weary in trying to help a brother, a sister, doing well, but weary in it. Many of you are trying to help your wife, your husband, your kids, your coworker. But can I tell you tonight, you will never bear anybody else's burden. without becoming weary. Until you first bear the weight of his glory. Because until the presence of God is inside of you, you don't have any love to give. Until the presence of God is inside of you, you don't have any peace to give. You can't have a covenant with man and bear the burdens of anybody around you unless you've got that covenant with God first. So, in closing tonight, some of you may know stuff in this room that I don't have any idea. Somebody's going through, somebody's dealing with, somebody's feeling the weight. They've got questions. I wish right now you'd find a brother, you'd find a sister. Some of you may feel led to walk across the room. But in closing tonight, I just want somebody that's going through something to just feel somebody next to them, grab their hand and lift them up and say, "Hey, you're my brother. You're my sister and I've got the presence of God inside of me. Oh Jesus. God touch my brother tonight. Oh, that's what the glory is all about. That's what his presence is all about. That's it. Be the body of Christ. God bless every father in this house. God touch every mother in this place. God minister God to our church setters. God minister to our students. >> >> Come on. That's it. That's it. Somebody's having a breakthrough cuz you've grabbed a hold of their hand. Somebody's feeling something they had felt in a while cuz you're praying for them right now. Come on. Be the body of Christ. Speak the name of Jesus.
