Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

A Voice Like No Other

  • The text, Jeremiah 1:4-9: Then the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee, and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations; and when he answered, I cannot speak, for I am a child, the Lord said, Say not, I am a child — then the Lord put forth his hand and touched my mouth, and said, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.
  • God created every one of us unique — features, thumbprint — and the voice is as unique as the thumbprint: he could pass the mic around the room and every confession of the name Jesus would come out at a different tone and articulation, and God could take attendance of the room by your voice.
  • So when you don't lift up your voice, something is missing: nobody can praise him like you can praise him, and nobody can pray in the prayer room like you can pray.

Scriptures: Jeremiah 1:4-9

Words That Activate

  • Romans 10:10, with the following verse's promise quoted in the same breath: For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation; for the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed — with your voice you confess, repent, and turn to God, and it leads to salvation.
  • Matthew 12: every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment, for by thy words thou shalt be justified and by thy words thou shalt be condemned — your words are never idle; they open and close heaven, and they are always burning fuel in one direction or the other.
  • We talk ourselves into seasons: everybody's against me, I don't have any friends — constant negativity activates the very life we complain about; and be careful what you listen to, because division is monetized and the terminology of the culture gets planted in the church until we start activating it ourselves.
  • The phrase 'church hurt' is dangerous lingo to activate: the church didn't hurt you — somebody hurt you; you don't throw out the one thing you have to have to make it to heaven.
  • Moses pleaded his excuse — I am not eloquent, I am slow of speech and of a slow tongue — and the Lord answered, Who hath made man's mouth? I will be thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.

Scriptures: Romans 10:10-11; Matthew 12:36-37; Exodus (book-only, as spoken)

Run to the Roar

  • The devil is pictured as the old, toothless lion set on one side of the herd: his roar stampedes the prey into the waiting jaws on the other side — so change your mentality; when you hear the roar, run to it, not from it, because you have a voice too, and he is already under our feet.
  • Psalm 81:10: Open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it — some of the most powerful prayers you will ever pray are the ones God prays through a mouth that was simply willing to open.
  • Isaiah 55:9-12: as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are his ways higher than our ways; and his word that goeth forth out of his mouth shall not return unto him void, but shall accomplish that which he pleases — is your life void of his promises because his ears are void of your voice?
  • Daniel activated a supernatural visitation with his words: the angel said unto him, I am come for thy words.

Scriptures: Psalm 81:10; Isaiah 55:9-12; Daniel 10:12

From Generation to Generation

  • Psalm 89:1: I will sing of the mercies of the Lord for ever; with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations — parents, your teenagers need to hear your voice praying out loud: in this room, in the prayer room, in the living room.
  • Speak it differently and you change your perspective: I am not the sick trying to be healed; I am the healed resisting the symptoms; I am not the sinner trying to get rid of sin; I am the righteous resisting temptation.
  • When the Spirit of God moves on an object it makes a sound, the way wind is only heard when it makes contact — and that is the Acts 2 pattern: suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house, and there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.
  • Every person who claims to have the Holy Ghost needs the outward evidence fresh: stir up the gift, stir up the promise — how long has it been since the Holy Ghost hit you and something poured out of your mouth?

Scriptures: Psalm 89:1; Acts 2:1-4

An Alphabet of Praise

  • Psalm 149:6: Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand — out of the mouth of babes and sucklings comes perfected praise, and when voices join together, one can put a thousand to flight and two can put ten thousand: there is no harmony like family harmony.
  • You can talk about your anxieties, or you can praise the Advocate, the Almighty, the Alpha, the Omega — for every letter of your trouble there is a name of God to praise instead, all the way down the alphabet.
  • Don't let a lack of room be the excuse: clear the aisles, find somebody, and pray for them in your own voice — nobody can pray for them like you can pray for them.
  • TRUNCATION: the capture ends inside the closing commitment prayer; the sermon's call and response movement are complete in the text, but no dismissal is captured.

Scriptures: Psalm 149:6

I realize that it is uh um it is Super Bowl Sunday, and I have to say, we usually put this on brother Nolan is somehow I drew this straw. And so I realize some of you that are uh going to be tempted to maybe check your phone here in a bit. And uh my goal tonight is to hold you past the halftime show >> so you're not tempted to watch the most godless thing. I would hate for them to get any viewing audience from anybody in this church. >> I I hope it I hope it's the lowest viewing >> that we've seen in centuries. >> I'll let you say that. If I was going to preach like super mole type message, I would have to preach that. It would be like trying to live for God without the Holy Ghost. That they would go and begin to play the game tonight without the football. They line up and there's nothing there to participate with. It's it's it's no different than us coming in this place. And I cannot imagine coming to church without the spirit. >> I can't imagine showing up and there not being a presence there not be something that you can feel. And I I I've felt it so strong in this place tonight. And I I'll be honest with you, the every creative bone of my body wanted to preach a fun little message with a football. But I have been stirred in my spirit >> to preach to you something tonight. And I just feel like that there is victory in this house tonight. I feel like there's victory in this house tonight. I feel like God wants to stir somebody up in this house tonight. You say, "Am I that somebody? I believe it probably just anybody, everybody that would like to participate in just a little bit of a stirring, a little bit of a reviving, a little bit of just God, would you shake me up a little bit tonight? I didn't come just to be here. I've come to experience the presence of God. Amen. >> My title tonight is this. Voice activated. >> Voice activated. Turn to Jeremiah chapter 1 and verse number four. Jeremiah 1 and verse4. You'll you'll immediately be able to kind of pick up on these words of Jeremiah. Then the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, Before I formed thee in the belly, I knew thee. Before thou camest forth out of the womb, I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet. Somebody say, "That's me." >> He's talking to me. He's talking to you. unto the nations. Then said I, oh Lord God, behold, I cannot speak, for I am a child. The Lord said unto me, Say not, I am a child. For thou shalt go to all that I send thee, and whatsoever I command thee, thou shalt speak. Be not afraid of their faces, for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord. Then the Lord put forth his hand and touched my mouth. And the Lord said unto me, "Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth." For the next few moments, I pray that God interrupts the service tonight. I pray that he interrupts what I have for you tonight with a move of his presence. It might be different for somebody. It might cause someone to literally to to want to get outside of yourself and you might fall you you might decide to take off running or dancing the aisle. That that's up to you. And then somebody it might drive you to an altar where tears begin to flow down your face. But I'm hoping that the same spirit that you and I experienced the first time, that same spirit that's with us in the beginning of salvation is the same spirit that's going to quicken us at the end of this thing and going to take us out of here. But that spirit needs to be stirred in each and every one of us tonight. No matter how young or how old we are, I want us to have a move of the Holy Ghost in this place tonight. Do you want that? >> If you want that, would you shout, "Amen." >> Amen. You may be seated tonight. Voice. Voice activated. He said, "You have a voice. I formed you in your womb. And when I formed you, I knew you. I ordained you." He speaks there in Jeremiah these words of the prophet. It's a powerful passage. The Lord put his hand and touched my mouth. And the Lord said, "Behold, I'm going to put words in your mouth." I want to just bring to your attention for just a few moments tonight that it's something that we don't discuss quite as much, but as he created us, God created us, he created each of every one of us unique. There's nobody like you. And many of you would say that's that's good because there don't need to be another one like you. like me. Amen. There's I'm glad there's not another one. All these people are trying to to create and clone themselves. I'd say, man, that that's awful pompous uh to want there to be somebody else that's that's like you. But you you know, you have different features and different things that makes you extremely unique. Your thumb print is like none other. And and some of you know that maybe better than others. You've used your thumbrint for some things, but but that's the way that's the way that's the way they use to identify people. Use your thumbrint because we know that is unique to you. nobody else has your thumbrint. You're not going to be able to uh to to to try to to uh to impersonate someone or do this. You're going to have to really be a con artist to be able to pull somebody's thumb print off something and use it to get into and you you guys watch too many movies and what sort, but it's your thumbrint's unique, but there's something else that's very unique to each and every one of us and that is our voice. In fact, I could pass the mic around the room tonight and each and every one of you quote or let's just say proclaim the name Jesus. >> And every single one of you is going to have a different tone, a different articulation. It's going to come out at a different level. It's going to be said as only you can say it. Some of you tonight would say it with a deep voice. Some of you, we've got a cold or maybe we've been preaching all week in Kentucky. Brother Nolan gets up and he's been preaching all weekend and so his voice sounds a little different tonight. But even at that, you can still know that that is a unique voice. And not just to you and I, it's a very unique voice unto God who formed you, who created you, who made you. In fact, God could take attendance of the room tonight by your voice. And I don't think that he just could. I think he does. Voice recognition software is one of the most savvy things of the age, opening devices and doors and safes and it's as unique as your thumbrint and nobody sounds like you. So when the Bible starts talking of things and he has a strong emphasis in our entire uh scripture, the entire word of God of make a joyful noise unto the Lord. Well, that sounds great and that sounds cliche and everybody does that. But let me just remind you tonight as a very simple uh message from a simple preacher tonight that your noise is not just any noise. >> Your noise is your noise. And so when you don't lift up your voice or you don't make a joyful noise or you don't pray unto God or you don't worship God, guess what? There's something missing. >> Because nobody can praise him like you can praise him. >> Nobody can lift up their voice in the prayer room tonight before service like you can pray to him. You say, "Oh, well, you're just I can tell. I'm not convincing you that you're very unique or very special." But that's the reality of it. God has created you different. You're unique. Nobody can take your place. There's a certain sound that comes. In fact, Romans 10 and 10 says, "For with the heart of man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, whosoever believeth on him and uh shall not be ashamed with your voice, you speak, you confess, you begin to repent, you begin to acknowledge God, you begin to turn to God, and it leads to salvation. >> He says, "You won't be ashamed. I'm not ashamed of who he is. I'm not ashamed of what he's done. I've been created in his image." There's no doubt tonight that it drives the devil absolutely crazy when we begin to lift up our voice. >> It drives the devil absolutely crazy in this place tonight when you begin to lift up your voice. There those sinners go again singing unto God. There go all those sinners again gathered over there on 1331 William Blunt Drive for another Sunday night service singing and lifting up their voice and praying and praising and shouting unto God. There's nothing more frustrating than for the devil to look down and know that we're shouting from a second chance. >> I I I get it. That doesn't make you feel feel very good, does it? So I this is going over about like I thought it would cuz it it's it's it's not it makes you a little uncomfortable sometimes because it's like yeah I do that but but how long how long has it been since you you've you've expressed yourself in a way that it's not just what you just always do you know it's God's mercy it's God's strength and his grace and it allows us to be here and we come and we gather over and over and over again and it becomes comes religious and it becomes something that we do each week and I'm thankful for that. But I want to make sure that my words and my voice is activating things in heaven. >> I want to make sure that my voice is not just just just just idle words. As Matthew said, the book of Matthew 12 says that every idol word that man shall speak, he's going to give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by those words thou shalt be justified, but by those same words you're going to be condemned. Why? Because what you're saying is activating things. It's voice >> activated. Your words are not only unique, but they have impact. They open and close heaven. They can uh they they have death and life in them. The power of your words, the power of the spoken word, the power of your shout tonight is one of our most valuable weapons as people of God, as the church of the living God. And how long's it been since you cried out to it? >> How long's it been since we really used the most powerful weapon that we have? >> That's right. >> As spiritual, spiritfilled people. You know, you become your own worst enemy when you induce your own growing pains through negative words and idle conversation. Many of us don't even realize it, but we've spoke many things that have caused us to stumble into existence. >> That's our lingo. That's how we talk. We just think everybody's against us. Everything's against us. I don't have any friends. Nobody wants to hang out with me. >> It's constant negativity. You have induced yourself into being who you are because your voice activates things. >> It uses the word idol here, but if you really look at that, it's your voice is it's not just simply keeping you in one spot. It is always burning some fuel. It's either going to keep you in a place where you're moving in a negative direction or you're moving in a positive direction. It has death and it has life. It doesn't have this just middle ground. You're speaking things. You're you're talking things. You're communicating things. Your voice has so much power. you you get so things get so uh tossed about today on you know you've got you've got the internet and you got social media and some of you got enemies that you've never even talked to you know and you've got you've got things that you've formulated in your mind you've never had a conversation with them you just talked yourself into thinking that that post was about you and you've talked yourself into thinking that they're against you and you you've talked yourself into thinking that the devil is the reason but you really aren't living in the covenant of tithes and offering and you've talked yourself into thinking that this is the reason and this person is the reason, but I've really not prayed about it. AND YOU'VE TALKED YOURSELF INTO A lot of things because your voice has activated the season that you're living in. >> It's amazing to me. It's amazing to me the amount of division within people just among people today, but within the church. Right? >> Division within the church, division within organizations, division within people across the states, within people across the globes. And in fact, you you're you're getting you're getting more clicks and watch and views, so to say, by the more you can be divisive in what you say, >> you're activating things when you get on there and you start talking about things. It's it's it's divi. In fact, people are monetizing division. It's a hot take. I'll say whatever because I want to make a little more get a little bit more influence. I'll say this. That's what the media is derived on. I don't matter which outlet you watch, they're saying things that don't even have to be true if it would just So, be careful what you speak, but also be careful what you listen to because as you begin to listen to it, you'll begin saying that to yourself. There's a lot of terminology that's being used today that I hear people within the church start saying it and before they know it, they have activated these things in their life. >> Leaders, people using words that they never should be using. >> Let me just go ahead and go there. I'll I'll move on in a minute. >> Church hurt. >> That's quite dangerous lingo. That's that's a terrible thing to be activating. >> That that's a terrible it's it's it's not even there's not even proper words to put it into its place. But that that doesn't make any sense. >> Don't you take and put the bride of Christ in the same same category as Suz's offense, >> Johnny's offense. >> Go write down or go talk to or go pray about the people that have hurt you. Don't put everybody in the category of the bride of Christ. The church didn't hurt you. Somebody hurt you. You I can hear some of you. Some of you are looking, well, doesn't people make up the church? Yes, but like that your logic's terrible. >> That's like saying food is killing me. >> Food is making me fat. Food is going to give me a heart attack. No, food is not. bad food is. >> But good food is essential for living. You got to eat it to live. You got to have the church to make it to heaven. So, I'm not going to throw everything out with the one thing that I have to have. It's terrible terminology, but yet we bought into it. We have people that are are esteemed highly and people that have been put into leadership POSITION THAT ARE ACTIVATING things in the >> God help us. Be careful what you say. >> Be careful what you fall prey to. >> Be careful of these professors that start planting seeds of thought in your mind. You're listening to things that are being said that are trying to cause you to sway. And before you know it, you start asking the questions. You start >> activating the things not only in your life, but then people around you. your family, your voice can activate victory. It can activate victimization. It can activate all these different things. So, be careful what you're saying. James, as he does so perfectly, tells us many different ways, whether it be the bridal, the the the the bit in the horse's mouth, or the rudder of the boat. In other words, what you say is determining where you're going to go. What you say is activating the next season of your life. How you're talking right now will tell me where you're going to be in a few weeks. The communication you're having right now will determine who you're hanging out with in the next few weeks. Your voice is a powerful thing. The question we have to ask ourselves is when things are not going right, can we praise God? Can we worship God? Can we use our voice for life when we could be complaining? >> I understand many of you, you have something to complain about. Now, some of you do not. Most of you that are 18 and under, you do not. No matter how bad you think it is, you don't have anything to complain about. >> But there's some of you that are going through hell. Can you praise him >> when you got a reason to complain? >> Because the way out is not to continue activating >> what you're in. >> The way out is to praise a God and magnify something that is greater than the situation you're in. >> And I realize many of us are going to stay right where we're at. Why? Because we feel like, "Oh, I've prayed that prayer before." But if you can continue to verbalize, if you continue to speak it out, you can change your perspective for sure. Even if you remain in the same situation because you could be dead, >> you could be lost, >> you could be divorced, you could be sick, but God, I don't deserve him. It just you realize but as I just begin to start speaking those things it does something inside of me. If some of you just begin to start speaking some things that I could be here but I'm not. I was one decision away from being my kids are one decision away from being outside but for a walk my family could be here or there but I'm just it changes your you just start talking about the goodness of God. We start singing about the goodness of God. I don't deserve him. I shouldn't be here. And we start blessing his name. And we start magnifying the Lord. And all of a sudden that those words in our mouth begin to I JUST BEGIN TO FEEL SOMETHING. I begin to experience the presence of God because my voice can activate the presence of God. >> It's simple. I realize it's simple. I've heard this a million times. You can title it a bunch of different ways, but I want to remind you tonight that we we can come up with a million excuses, personalities, taking the color test. Your color test is not an excuse. >> It's an evaluation to show you where you lack. I'm not expressive. I don't see anywhere where God created us with an excuse to not praise him. >> In fact, it's going to be real awkward in heaven if he has a little side area for those that are just not expressive. >> I don't see anywhere in heaven where he's got like an area for those that are just I don't really, you know, shout and jump and dance and run and those type of things, you know. Is he worthy or is he not worthy? >> To me, your voice tells me what you think about him. To me, your actions tell me what you think about him. To me, how you treat him tells me I see that I see that many people many people that live overcoming victoriously. Not that they don't go through things. It's that they've learned to speak life >> in the midst of dead things. >> The devil understands it. says he wants to kill, steal, and destroy. He comes not as a lion, but as a man, some of you really want to be watching the Super Bowl. He comes as a >> There we go. Roaring lion. Amen. He uses his voice to activate what? >> Fear. Fear. HE USES HIS VOICE TO ACTIVATE FEAR. In fact, let me let me just uh I'll quickly move through this. I know I'm I'm going to try to get to where we're going tonight, but in fact, I I I read this some time back and I think this is one of the most interesting things. Said that when a lion hunts, when the the the the herd or the the the big the big group of uh of of lions, they hurt, they they they uh hunt, they they get the prey, and let's say they're in a field and they have they have videos of this and if you have just tons of time to kill, this is a great thing to watch. But um let's say you got a field of this herd of whatever is being hunted. They'll take the oldest lion and they'll put him on one side of the herd while the young and the youthful female and male lions all go to the other side of the herd. The video is so powerful because as they pan over and they take photos of this old lion, it looks like his ribs. He barely's able to move around. Barely able to I don't think he could hurt a fly. In fact, it proves that when he begins to open up his mouth, HE DON'T EVEN HAVE TEETH in his mouth. But this old lion will get over here as the the the devil is depicted in my mind as I watch it. As he begins to roar, he lives up this nasty, gnarly, deep bellowing roar across the valley, across the meadow. And that prey that's all gathered up does what they know to do, and they run from the roar. and they run right into their death. I I I'd like to try to change our mentality when it comes to the devil that when you hear the roar, when you hear the sound of the enemy, when you hear something that doesn't sound favorable, when you hear the roaring lion that wants to kill you, perhaps we should change our mentality knowing that we've already defeated him. Not by our might or by our power, but by his spirit through the cross. He is under our feet. That when you hear the lies of the enemy. When you hear that that things are against you and you hear the negative voices and you read the negative things and SOMEBODY TURNS THEIR BACK, HOW about you run to it >> rather than running from it. >> Why? Because you've got a voice, too. >> You've got a voice, too. In fact, you ought to have enough word inside of you. You ought to have enough the Holy Ghost inside of you that you ought to be ABLE TO SPEAK BACK to the lies of the enemy to say, "No, sir. No weapon formed against me shall prosper. For I'm more than a conqueror through the blood of Jesus Christ." That you can say what you want to say. You can bring that diagnosis. You can bring that pink slip. You can bring THOSE THOUGHTS. BUT I'VE GOT SOMETHING TO SAY, TOO. MY GOD is for me. AND IF HE'S FOR ME, THEN WHO CAN BE AGAINST ME? Come on. If you believe that, would you LIFT UP A SHOUT IN THIS PLACE TONIGHT? OH, I wonder if some of you'd really just throw the devil a curveball and throw your hands up and LIFT UP A SHOUT UNTO GOD. Come on, LIFT UP A SHOUT UNTO GOD. You have a voice, too. >> You've got a roar inside of you, as we SUNG ABOUT. YOU'VE GOT SOMETHING INSIDE of you that's greater than any lie that the enemy's GOT TO TELL. YOU'VE GOT SOMETHING THAT YOU CAN ACTIVATE WITH YOUR VOICE THAT THE devil don't know what to do with. In fact, some of you, you've been trying to come up with a prayer and you've been trying to come up with an explanation AND YOU'VE BEEN TRYING TO COME up with words to say, but you just need to speak the name of Jesus. And you need to speak the name of Jesus until you feel the presence OF THE ALMIGHTY GOD BEGIN TO OVERTAKE YOU. And you begin to speak in a language that you know YOUR VOICE CAN ACTIVATE SOME THINGS. It's voice activation. >> But again, idle weeks of words make it difficult to worship. If if your if your mouth is full of filth and idol and good for nothing all week, I get it why this is awkward for you. I get it why when I'm simply telling you something that could help you or brother Ericson gets up and says would you lift up your voice and shout unto God that it's not just simple for you because it's hard to activate something that you're not accustomed to. You want to become you want to become accustomed to allowing God to use your voice. Why? Because there's not another voice like your voice. Moses said unto the Lord, "Oh my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither therefore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant, but I am slow to speak, and I've got a slow tongue." And the Lord said unto him, "Who hath made man's mouth?" You can come up with all the excuses in the world tonight, but he's standing here asking you, who has made your mouth? God wants to use you to do great things. God wants to use you to to to share his word. God wants to use you to to further his kingdom, but you got to use your words. He says you've got to go and I will be thy mouth and teach thee what thou shalt say. I am the Lord. Psalms 81 and10. Thy God which brought thee out of the land of Egypt. Open thy mouth wide and I'll fill it. I I I believe there's words that God wants to pray through us, whether through uh the speaking in tongues or through God feeling your actual English words if we would just open up our mouth. >> I don't know if you've ever been there before, but some of the most powerful prayers I've ever prayed, I didn't pray them. >> That's right. >> I got in his presence and all of a sudden I be to decrease and he be to increase as I got myself on that altar. All of a sudden, I begin to pray some things and I was thinking, "Man, where'd that come from? I didn't know I needed that. I didn't know God had people's names come to mind that need a touch from God." And you begin to pray things. Why? Because he began to put words in your mouth because you were willing to open >> your mouth. Some of you tonight are going to sit in your situation until you're willing to open your mouth. >> Because it's a sound like none other. When you worship, it's unique to you. Isaiah 55:9, for as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my thoughts, my ways higher than your ways, my thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven then returnneeth not thither, but the water, but waterth the earth, and maketh that bring forth and bud, and it may give seed to the sewer, and bread to the eater. So shall my word be that goeth forth out of thy mouth. It shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I pleased, and it shall prosper in the thing where to where unto I sent it. For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace, and the mountains, and the hills shall break forth before you unto singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. And so this is a powerful passage and we've we quote it all the time, but is your words what what are they bringing forth? What are what are they bringing forth? I feel like brother Hammond, I I hear what you're saying tonight, but I I I don't know that that works for me. I promise you tonight that his word is not going to return void. Is your life void of his promises because his ears are void of your voice? The angel of the Lord said unto Daniel in Daniel 10:12, "I've come for thy words. I'm here because of your words. I'm here." Daniel activated. Daniel activated God's supernatural >> visitation power and strength. Psalms 89 and1, I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever. With my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations. Our young people need to hear the voice of another generation. >> I'm thankful for our young people. I spoke to our young people about a little bit of this on Wednesday night and I've been so stirred in my spirit. There's some kind of disconnect at the moment. It comes and goes if I'm just being transparent with you. Some classes are different than others. But we've been fighting something at the school and our chapel services. We can sing the songs. We can jump and dance with the music. But when it comes time for prayer, when it comes time for it's not words on a screen, >> but it's something from my heart that it's not being activated by a worship leader. And I that's all well and good, but can you activate something with your voice? Because your voice is unique. >> And if you are uniquely struggling, if you are uniquely tempted, the same so is the other side of that coin that you have to pray. You have to take up your cross. You have to lift up your voice. Parents, hear me. If you have a teenager, especially a high schooler and a middle schooler, they need to hear from one generation to another. >> That's right. >> They need to hear your voice in this room, in the prayer room, in the living room. They need to hear your voice praying out loud. Why? Because it's got to go from one generation to another generation. David said, "I'll make thee known in thy faithfulness with the words of my mouth from one generation to another." >> And and some I understand tonight some may be doing that, but our young people are struggling struggling with opening up their mouth. I want you to know as as as one of the the pastoral team here that I am consistently challenging and pushing them to get out of their comfort zone. >> Open up your mouth because you are going to stay in a battle that you cannot win if you don't open up your mouth. You are going to stay in situations that you're doomed to fail without the Holy Ghost. Are you hearing me tonight? I I I pray students, I I I I've been stirred all week long that we've got to learn to activate our voice. Psalms 89 and1 says, "I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever. With my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations. Some of us need to speak life from generation to generation. I'm not a sinner that's getting rid of sin. I'm the righteous resisting temptation. I am not the sick trying to be healed. I am the healed resisting the symptoms of infirmity and disease. Listen to some of these things. If you just if you just word it different, if you speak it different, it can change your perspective. I'm not depressed trying to manage my weak smile of putting on this mask. I am the joyful, victorious child of God overcoming the enemy one day at a time. Amen. Amen. >> You just you have to understand that that the way you say it, the way that you articulate it, you say, "Well, I don't feel that way." You've got to pray a victorious prayer >> either way. >> Many are are like, "We're just coming up to to beg for the Holy Ghost. You haven't had it in sometimes." Come on. No, we're not begging for it. You are a child that's accepting a gift from a loving heavenly father who has promised it unto you. and you're able to come and say, "God, I just want the Holy Ghost. I love you more than it's just changing what you're saying because it's activating not just the atmosphere and activating a move of God, but it is activating the way you see it and the way you think." So, the Holy Ghost is given to us and has this this sign, this outward sign of speaking in another tongue as the spirit gives the utterance. I know many of you know this. You've heard this, but how long has it been since you've experienced a true move of the Holy Ghost? When the spirit of God moves on an object, when the presence, the glory of God moves on a person, something has to happen. I want to slow down here for a moment and really ask you, how long has it been since there's been an outward demonstration of the spirit of God moving upon you? When the spirit of God moved in Genesis 1, spirit moved and things divided, it's always had an effect. God moves on an object. It's like wind. In fact, they have they share the same words and meanings throughout the scripture. If it doesn't come into contact with anything, you would never know it was there. >> But the wind when it makes contact is what gives it a sound. >> The wind when it comes in contact with an obstacle is what gives it a sound. And so I I don't know tonight. I just want to challenge somebody that the spirit of God as it moves through this room here in a moment as we begin to activate the Holy Ghost and we begin to pray to allow that to hit the obstacles in your life to allow it to cause something to spring forth from you to cause there to be an outward evidence because your voice is going to activate everything that you want to happen in your life. The Holy Ghost will produce a sound. And if it comes in contact with you, then it's going to activate. It's the book of Acts that we see in Acts chapter 2. When the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all in one accord in one place, and suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. It hit them. It It made contact with them. It it it caused he says then appeared in them clothe tongues like as a fire and it sat upon each of them and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak >> with other tongues as the spirit gave them utterance. We need a one accord Pentecostal apostolic move of the Holy Ghost in our service tonight. I I realize that I am not even in a puddle tonight. I knew before I walked up here that it was going to go this way because I'm bringing you something that is very very very very very simple. But some of you are not participating in this and God has stirred me to bring it to you. >> You walk around claiming to have something that is supposed to have an evidence. >> You hadn't spoken in tongues in years. You hadn't had an outward evidence in years. You haven't had tears flow from your face in years. I don't know about you, but when the Holy Ghost hits me, something wells up in my heart. Something wells up in my eyes. And all of a sudden, there's something that begins to pour out of my mouth that I do not understand. And if I'm going to make it to heaven, maybe you're got more assurance in your righteousness and your holiness and your angel WINGS TONIGHT. BUT I NEED evidence of an outward expression of the Holy Ghost. >> Oh, Brother Hammond, that's simple. Yeah, but we are Pentecostal. >> We are Pentecostal. >> It ought not be that we have to get up here and we have to preach against everything in the book and everything that the world's DOING WRONG. THE GREATEST RESPONSE I'VE GOT TONIGHT IS when I started talking about things that we don't agree with. >> And I hate to point to it, but it it happens >> throughout the services. >> Oh, we will LET OUT A ROAR >> WHEN WE TALK ABOUT the perversion of the rainbow. >> But where's the roar of the Holy Ghost? You can hate all you want to hate. You can disagree with all you. AND I I UNDERSTAND THERE'S THINGS THAT WE'RE WE'RE IN IT, BUT WE'RE NOT OF IT. BUT WE WHAT ARE WE IN? WHAT ARE WE DOING? What are we? >> I'm just here to stir you up tonight. We need a move of the Holy Ghost. Every child that claims to have the Holy Ghost needs to speak in tongues tonight. Why? It's a Pentecostal church. Every person in this place tonight, if you I don't care how old you are, God can move on you. Why? Because everything that has breath can praise the Lord. And when you PRAISE THE LORD, YOU activate the presence of God. IT INHABITS THE ROOM. And if it's in the room, it can get in your heart. Don't let the devil lie to you. Don't let that old devil, that old lion lift up his own gnarly head and tell you tonight, you can't have it. You ain't done it in a long time. No sire, you better run to that roar and begin to speak life and begin to speak promises and BEGIN TO SPEAK GOODNESS. WHY? BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT GOD HAS FOR YOU. I'm just here to stir you up tonight. I'm here to stir you up tonight. I realize that it's an uphill battle. I realize not everybody's going to get on board, but I'm just here to stir stir up the spirit, stir up the gift, stir up the promise. I just want to know tonight, am I in a Pentecostal church? Am I in a Pentecostal church? Is a cloven tongues like as a fire that's going to sit up on somebody before we leave here tonight? Come on, one more time. Would you throw your hands up? Throw your hands up. And would you lift your voice and WOULD YOU ACTIVATE SOMETHING IN your life right now? Come on, pray. Come on, pray. I'LL PRAISE THE LORD WITH MY MOUTH. YEAH, I'LL PRAISE HIM AMONG THE MULTITUDE. David said, I'll praise him among the people. Oh, it's unique when you PRAISE HIM. GOD HEARS YOUR SPECIFIC VOICE CRYING OUT TONIGHT. Oh God, I'm hungry for MORE OF YOU. GOD, I NEED A DEMONSTRATION FROM YOU TONIGHT. GOD, HELP US. GOD, HELP US. >> JESUS, we love you. Jesus, we love you. >> People of God, church, Hear me tonight. Hear me tonight. I want to be holy. I want to be set apart. I want to live for God. I want to live for righteousness and true holiness. I want to shun evil and stand for what's right. Speak truth, speak life. I can't do any of those things without the Holy Ghost. >> Can't do it without the Holy Ghost. I've got to have >> the Holy Ghost. >> So, there's an outward outward demonstration. You can stand to your feet. Psalms 149 and 6. Let's let the high praises of God be in their mouth >> and a two-edged sword in their hand >> that you may know that we are one mind and one mouth glorifying God together. You know the what's powerful to me is if your voice is unique, >> if your voice is unique, >> brother Cole, >> would you would you shout Jesus? >> Jesus. >> Brother Denver, would you shout Jesus? >> Jesus. Brother Mayo, Jesus. >> Nobody can say it like him. Jesus, >> out of the mouth of babes >> and suckings >> comes ordained strength. But then Jesus would quote it in the New Testament as he walks in and they fan him with leaves. He says out of the mouth of babes and sucklings comes perfected >> praise. >> If your voice is unique >> to you, >> this is what makes it powerful to me is if one can put a thousand to flight, >> two can put Huh? That's multiplication. Why? because you come together. So nowhere on this earth tonight when we lift up our voices together. Is there anything happening like this? >> It's unique to you individually. But then whoever you gathered yourself together with, I put my voice with pastors tonight. I put my voice with brother Snitzers tonight. I put my voice with all of a sudden what? It's a tone that can't be duplicated. I don't know if you've ever heard it, but there's never there's not a better harmony than family harmony. You don't get a better harmony than when you get people that are singing together that have a little bit of the same DNA in their voice. The Bible says that we are all a part of God's family. And when you begin to lift up your voice and you begin to praise him, I I just can't help but tonight say, "Let the weak say >> that I am strong." >> You say, "My God, what happened to this one during service tonight?" All of a sudden, what why did that man start running around the building? The Holy Ghost got upon him. Cuz when the spirit hits you, the power of God activates something in your life. Say, "What in the world happened when brother Thompson starts spinning?" OH, THE HOLY GHOST HIT HIM. There's an outward evidence. It gives it a sound WHEN IT COMES IN CONTACT with us. So, IF THERE IS A DEMONSTRATION of God's spirit hitting us, how long's it been since you come in contact with God's spirit? >> There ought to be a demonstration. Now, I'm going to fly through these and this is I'm done. >> But I found this today, and some of you are going to think this is cheesy. Some of you going to think this is not cool. But I found an alphabet, pastor, of praise. an alphabet of praise. You can talk about your anxieties or you can praise the advocate, the almighty, the alpha, the omega, the altogether lovely and anointed author and the finisher of your faith. YOU CAN TALK ABOUT YOUR BITTERNESS or you can praise the banner, the bearer of sin, the beginning and the ending, the beloved, the branch, the bread, the blessed hope, the bridegroom and the bride and the morning star. You can talk about your concerns tonight or you can praise the captain of our salvation, the chief cornerstone, the chosen, the Christ, the chief shepherd, the comforter, the commander, the counselor, the creator. I hear some of you in the back, you're thinking, "Hey, you're not even on D. You're going to need to hurry up." I hear you. You can talk about your depression or you can praise the defender, the deliverer or the dwelling place. YOU CAN TALK ABOUT YOUR EMPTINESS OR YOU CAN PRAISE THE ETERNAL GOD, the everlasting father, THE EMMANUEL, THE EXPRESSED IMAGE OF THE INVISIBLE GOD. You can talk about your fears. Or you can praise the faithful, the finisher, THE HIGH PRIEST, THE FIRST FRUITS, the fortress, THE FOUNDATION, THE FOUNTAIN OF living waters, THE FRIEND THAT'S STICKING closer than a brother. I've come TO ASK YOU, WHAT'S YOUR VOICE GOING TO ACTIVATE TONIGHT? The devil The devil's TRYING TO GET SOME OF YOU TO talk about your guilt. Don't pray or talk about your guilt tonight. I want you to praise for that gift of God, that glorious name, THAT GOOD MASTER, THAT GOD manifests in the flesh, the guiltless, the governor, the guide, THE GOD OF MY SALVATION. Let's not talk about your habits tonight. Let's praise the head of the principality and the power, the head of the body, the helper, the high priest, the high tower, the hope of glory. I don't want to hear about your insecurities tonight. I want you to praise the I am. I don't want TO TALK ABOUT YOUR jealousy tonight. I want you to praise Jesus Christ, the judge, the quick. Come on, praise the King of glory. Praise the King of glory. Praise the King of glory. Praise the Lawgiver. PRAISE THE LY OF THE VALLEY. Praise the Lion of the tribe of Judah. Somebody ought to lift up a shout. Somebody ought to magnify the Lord with me. Somebody ought to magnify the Lord with me. I know you got needs, but I got a name. I got a name. I got a name. >> >> Let there BE AN OUTWARD DEMONSTRATION OF THE HOLY GHOST. Throw your hands in the air and lift up a shout unto God right now. Come on, lift up a shout. Come on, RUN TO THE ROAR. RUN TO THE ROAR. >> >> Come on. That's it. God's just getting started. He's just getting started. Come on. The more you pursue him, the more you pursue him, the more you lift up that voice, every prayer you pray, every word you speak, every shout you lift up. Come on. I know SOME OF YOU GOT QUESTIONS AND WE'RE NOT HERE TO TALK ABOUT THAT. I'M HERE TO TALK TO GOD AND PRAISE GOD for a quickening spirit. I know many of you in this place tonight have got your reasons for why you do and why you don't. But I wish you'd look at the redeemer. I wish you'd look at the redemption. I wish you'd find the righteousness and the refuge and the rock of our salvation. He's the root and the offspring of David. He's the rose of Sharon, the ruler and the reward. He's the rock that's higher than I. Some of you, you've got a spirit of sadness upon you. But I'm here to remind you about a salvation, a seed, a sanctuary, a strength, a scapegoat, a shelter, a shield, a sign, a sweet cell, a stone which the builder rejected, a strong tower that I can run into, a sure foundation, and he's the same yesterday, today, and forever more. I know you're going through a trial, but let me introduce you to a teacher, a treasure, a testimony, the true light and the true vine, the tender mercy of God and the truth. >> Some of you are experiencing uncertainty. But if you can praise him undefiled, if you can praise him understanding that he is the upright, understanding that he has an unspeakable gift for you tonight. He has an unspeakable and full of go. Oh, the half has not been told of what God wants to do in your life. You've not see him move like he's ever in your life. He has exceeding abundantly. You say, "Well, I've had a strong tower experience." You've not had an experience like God wants to give you. We can talk about your victimization, but I have a God that went beyond the veil who is a victor. The very God of peace. He's the vine. He's the voice. He's a very present help in the time of trouble. We could talk about your weakness tonight. Or you could praise God with a wave offering and a well of living waters and be a witness of the well of salvation. For he is the wonderful, he is the word, he is worthy, and he is the way. Now, I know some of you, all you English teachers are in here thinking, "Where you going with this one?" X to give me a little liberty. You could talk about your excuses or you can praise the God that's allowing you to exhale. Because let me remind you tonight, you may stand here with your arms crossed and your mouth closed. You've got to borrow a breath from him to even give him what he deserves. You don't have anything. NO, NO, NO, NO, NO. EVERYTHING I'VE GOT IS HIS. EVERYTHING I I'M not I'm not worthy, but he's worthy. Why? because he's putting breath in your lungs right now and he's expecting it to open back up and to lift up a shout under you can talk about your yearnings or you can praise the one whose yoke is easy and his burden is light. YOU CAN TALK ABOUT YOUR ZEROS. You can talk about all THE THINGS YOU MISSED OUT ON. YOU CAN LOOK BACK AT ALL THOSE OPPORTUNITIES and it just rings through and you're literally sitting here and you're having trouble praising God because you're looking around and thinking, "I don't have what they have. And if I had what they had, I'd be praising God, too." And you're comparing yourself among yourself. And you'll never God's looking for some zeal tonight. I realize it's not comfortable. I realize you have to get your pride out of the way. I REALIZE you have to stop thinking about who's next to you and what's going on tomorrow and praise yourself and activate. I wish you could see what's going on in the spirit right now. Some of you are worried about tomorrow where if you would JUST CHANGE WHAT YOU'RE DOING RIGHT NOW, you could activate your tomorrow. You can activate your week. you. There ought to be a voice that cries out, says, "Not no more, devil. The devil is a lie." The devil is a lie. The devil is a lie. The devil is a lie. >> >> Come on, lift up a shift. >> >> Heat. Heat. >> >> Heat. Heat. See tonight see I see you see I see Free heat. >> >> I got to praise. I got to praise. I got I got to praise. I got to praise. I got to praise. Come on, that's it. Come on, let's see. SOME OF YOU ARE GETTING IT. SOME OF YOU ARE GETTING IT. Come on, let the Lord touch you. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Praise him. Praise him. Praise him in the morning. In the new in the evening. In the praise. Praise him. Praise him. Praise him. Praise him. Praise him. Praise him. Praise him. Praise him. I got to praise you. I got to praise you. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Crazy. Crazy. Lucky. Come on, somebody. Be a PARTICIPATOR TONIGHT. BE A participator tonight. PRAISE HIM. PRAISE HIM. WATCH WHAT GOD WILL DO IN YOUR LIFE. WATCH WHAT GOD WILL DO IN YOUR LIFE. YEAH. HEAT. HEAT. HEAT. HEAT. HEAT. HEAT. HEAT. HEAT. HEAT. HEAT. HEAT. You can't stop me. >> >> Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. >> >> I vtory. Woo! >> >> Come on. Do you feel that? Come on. Do you feel that? >> >> in the name of Jesus. Oh God, the presence of the Lord is here. >> Oh, in the name of Jesus. >> >> Jesus. Church, church, hear me for just a moment. in the name of Jesus. Tonight is an opportunity. Tonight is an opportunity. I feel so compelled by the Holy Ghost tonight. I feel so compelled. And it might you might chalk it up to me just being young and stupid, but I'm never satisfied. until I feel like everybody has participated. And so I want to give an opportunity cuz there's definitely a lingering excuse >> for somebody who wants to really shout and run or dance or obey and that is there ain't a whole lot of room. And so for all of you that always fill these altars and aisles, I want you to slide back just a little bit. >> Slide back just a little bit. You can say, "What in the world are you doing?" I'm just giving somebody an opportunity. I'm asking in a moment seal. He says, "If you're not ashamed, I wonder if there's somebody who says, "I've never ran the aisles. I've never danced before the Lord. I've never done THAT IN CHURCH." I'D JUST LIKE TO GIVE YOU AN OPPORTUNITY tonight to let THE GLORY OF GOD HIT YOU LIKE IT'S NEVER hit you before. Come on. Come on. There's some more of YOU TONIGHT. COME ON. THERE'S some more of you tonight. GOD MIGHT JUST SHOW UP EARLIER THAN HE was supposed to because of YOUR PRAISE TONIGHT. GOD MIGHT JUST PERFORM A MIRACLE a little early because of your praise. And come on, clear the aisles. Come on, HELP ME CLEAR THE AISLES. I WANT TO GIVE SOMEBODY an opportunity tonight. If you got to run on the stage, shout on the stage, GET IN THE CHOIR, FIND you somewhere. FIND YOU SOMEWHERE. FIND YOU SOMEWHERE. YEAH. Stir it up. Stir it up. Stir it up. Stir it up. It's been too long. It's been too long. >> >> Come on, young people. Come on, young people. Find somebody. Find somebody to worship with them. Find somebody and worship with them. Find somebody and worship with them. Come on, mom and daddy. Find somebody and worship with him. God deserves it. God deserves it. Heat. Heat. Yeah. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Hey, my heart. I got a praise. I got I got I got I got a praise. I got a praise. I got Come on, lift up that shout. Lift up that shout to him right now. Lift up that shout to him right now. Come on, mama and daddy. Lift up that shout. He's doing what his word says. He inhabits the praises of his people. So now I WANT YOU TO FIND SOMEBODY. FIND somebody and grab a hold of them. And we're gonna begin to pray. Nobody can pray for them like you can pray for them. Why? Because it's your voice. It's unique. It's different. Speak the name of Jesus over that individual. Speak the name of Jesus over their family. Speak the name of Jesus. I'm asking every person in this place to find somebody. Every musician, every singer, every production worker, find somebody and begin to pray. GOD WANTS TO DEMONSTRATE HIS power through the church. One family to another, one young man to another, ONE YOUNG LADY TO ANOTHER, THAT THE GLORY of God rest upon us. Come on, THAT'S IT. COME ON, SPEAK IT OUT. SPEAK IT OUT. That's it. That's it. That's what the Pentecostal church ought to sound like. Clothing in tongues like AS A FIRE. CLOTHING IN TONGUES LIKE AS A FIRE. Come on, daddy. PRAY TILL YOU PRAY IN the Holy Ghost. Come on, mama. Pray till you pray in the Holy Ghost. That's it. Come on, middle schoolers, get a renewing of the Holy Ghost right now. If you're around a young person, I wish you'd lay hands on them. IF YOU'RE AROUND A YOUNG PERSON, I WISH YOU'D PRAY for them right now. God, touch me. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Oh, that's it. Let God use you right now. Let God use you right now. Let God put words in your mouth to speak to somebody. Let God put the words in your mouth. Speak the name of Jesus over your friend. All right. I love you. Go ahead. Yes, God. Yes, God. Holy Ghost. in the name of Jesus. One more time, would you take the hand of the person next to you and lift it up and let's lift up a prayer. Come on, pray this. Pray this into your future right now. Lord, I'm going to commit my voice to speaking life, oh God. Lord, I make a commitment to you, Lord, that tomorrow I'm going to lift up my voice in prayer. I'm going to speak life to my friends and my family, my co-workers. God, I lift my voice up. God, I make a commitment to you. >>
