About This Site
Acts 238 Life is a public repository of Apostolic doctrine, history, and writings, with a directory of Apostolic churches. It exists to gather in one place material that is otherwise scattered across organizational websites, out-of-print books, and denominational archives. This page is about the site itself: who runs it, where its information comes from, and how to tell us when something is wrong.
What Is Here
The site is organized by section: doctrine, the foundational teachings of the Apostolic faith; history, a timeline of the Apostolic movement; the repository, an open-source library holding the writings index of Apostolic authors and their works; churches, a directory of more than 5,500 Apostolic congregations in the United States and Canada; and evangelists, profiles of traveling evangelists and their availability.
Who Maintains This Site
Acts 238 Life is managed by Sam Hodum and Andy Williams. Content is published only after review and approval. Material sent in by visitors is read by a person before anything from it is published — nothing submitted through this site goes up automatically.
Where the Information Comes From
Church listings come from the published church locators of the United Pentecostal Church International, the Assemblies of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Worldwide Pentecostal Fellowship. Independent Oneness churches — congregations that belong to none of those organizations — are added when they are found, and checked against the church's own published material. Each church page notes that its listing data is as published in the organization's own locator.
The doctrine, history, and writings sections are drawn from published sources: the organizations' own statements and histories, the books and papers held in the repository, and the works listed in the writings index.
Sources sometimes disagree, especially on dates and numbers from the movement's early years. When they do, the figure is shown with its source named, rather than blended with another source's figure. And when something cannot be checked against a published source, it is left out rather than guessed at.
If Something Is Wrong
Churches move, pastors change, and old books contain mistakes — so this site will have some. If you find one, please tell us:
- A church listing: use the contribution form linked at the bottom of that church's page, under “From This Church?” It takes corrections as well as added information, history, and photographs.
- A church that is missing altogether: use the Did We Miss You? page.
- Anything else — doctrine, history, writings, or this page: email [email protected].
It helps to include the address of the page, what the page says now, what it should say, and where the correct information can be found, if you know. Every correction is read by a person, and nothing changes automatically. If we have a question, we will reply to the email address you give us.
