Summary
Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.
Carry Up My Bones: The Opening Texts
- He reads Joseph's dying charge: God will surely visit Israel and bring them out of Egypt into the land sworn to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and Joseph binds them by oath — 'you shall carry up my bones from hence' — before dying at 110 years old and being placed in a coffin in Egypt.
- Generations later the oath is kept: Moses took the bones of Joseph with him when Israel went up out of Egypt.
- The message is announced to every believer under the sound of his voice: 'Carry the bones' — preached with an unction from the Holy Ghost to stir faith and charge the hearers with a mission.
- The church has been given a precious truth and treasure, handed down by heralds of the faith who once sat in services just like this one; it is nothing new, but it must not be disregarded.
- In opening prayer he thanks God for His presence and asks for a fresh anointing as they approach the altar of His word — that they receive it with faith, with attention captured and understanding given.
Scriptures: Genesis 50:24-26; Exodus 13:19
The Bone That Saved a Museum
- In 1902, wealthy New York socialite Henry Osborn watched attendance at his family's museum decline as apartment buildings, subways, automobiles, and the city's new landmarks drew people away; his answer was to find the largest dinosaur bones ever discovered.
- He hired archaeologist and explorer Barnum Brown, who searched the Montana wilderness for a year with a small team through heat, dust, and wind — finding fossilized fish bones and petrified jaws, but nothing profound, and finally only the partial skull of a triceratops the museum already had.
- At a sandstone hill Brown called Sheba Mountain, the rock was too hard for any blade, so he dynamited the hillside — and uncovered a large carnivorous dinosaur no human had ever seen: a four-foot jaw, serrated teeth, and hips built to run. It was the first Tyrannosaurus rex.
- That discovery of old, dusty bones saved the museum and changed the landscape of America: books have been written and movies made because archaeologists found bones.
- Bones speak truth about a person — examiners can tell age and even whether the individual was male or female, because in the beginning God created them male and female. The bones don't lie.
- Bones are essential to living: they support the body and form its shape, protect the vital organs, allow movement, produce red and white blood cells in the marrow, and store minerals like calcium — and nobody thinks about them until one breaks.
The Power of Bones in the Bible
- God created the first woman out of Adam's rib bone, and Samson killed a thousand Philistines with the jawbone of a donkey.
- Elisha, who had twice the miracles of Elijah, was dead and buried when frightened men threw their dead friend into his sepulchre — and when the man touched Elisha's bones, he revived, because those bones still retained faith, power, and authority.
- God asked Ezekiel over a valley of dead bones, 'Can these bones live?' — and as Ezekiel prophesied, the bones rattled together and stood up as an exceeding great army.
- The bones represent the power of God, the truth about God, and the shape and stability of the church — the church needs the bones.
- You cannot walk into a new promise or a new anointing without an old faith — a faith that has been through the fire, the water, and the storm and survived. Fashion, music, and methods may change, but some things are still worth holding on to.
Hold Fast to That Good Thing
- Hebrews charges the church to hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering, for He is faithful that promised.
- Paul likewise told Timothy to hold fast the form of sound words heard from him in faith and love, and to keep that good thing which was committed unto him.
- Before running off into a new realm of ministry God has given you, hold on to the truth that has already been entrusted to you — there are still good things worth your time, your investment, and your sacrifice.
- In these last and evil days, in a world gripped in darkness, the church has a responsibility to hold fast and keep this good thing even while moving forward into new anointings, callings, buildings, songs, and conferences.
Scriptures: Hebrews (book-only, as spoken)
Still Good Things: Oneness, the New Birth, and Holiness
- The oneness doctrine is still a good thing to hold on to — more than semantics and denominational lines, it is His identity: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is one Lord'; he that has seen Jesus has seen the Father; and the mystery of godliness is not how many gods there are but that God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, and received up into glory.
- The new birth is still a good thing: Jesus told Nicodemus that except a man be born again of the water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God — and the word will not be watered down because it might hurt feelings or disturb someone's theological background.
- Baptism in the name of Jesus Christ is more than a public confession of faith; it is for the remission of sins, and baptism now also saves us — the answer of a good conscience toward God. For anyone who has never been baptized in the precious name of Jesus, the water is ready tonight.
- Holiness is still a good thing: follow peace with all men and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord; 'be ye holy, for I am holy'; come out from among them and be separate, and stop being entangled with the affairs of this world. He dresses different, talks different, lives different — because holiness is still right.
Still Good Things: The Word of God and Prayer
- The word of God is still a good thing: forever settled in heaven, hidden in the heart so we might not sin against Him, given by inspiration of God and profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness.
- The word corrects like a sword, dividing soul and spirit and discerning the thoughts and intents of the heart — some refuse correction and call it church hurt. Real abuse from spiritual leadership is acknowledged and believed, but we had better check ourselves before we wreck ourselves.
- If you can quote more movie lines — or more preachers — than you can quote the Bible, you are listening to people talk about the word more than you are reading it yourself; it is not just for preachers behind pulpits but starts with saints in the secret place.
- Prayer is still a good thing: Paul wrote in Colossians to devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful, and Jesus said to watch and pray so that you do not enter into temptation.
- Some don't need more willpower; they need more prayer power — prayer that humbles a person to death and crucifies the deeds of the body. This late in the end game, the church must get back to prayer and get heaven's notice.
Scriptures: Colossians 4:2
Still Good Things: Worship and Praise
- Worship is different from praise: everything that has breath can praise, but the Father is seeking those who will worship Him in spirit and in truth — with submission and sincerity, presenting their bodies a living sacrifice, saying not my will but Thy will be done.
- Worship is proven in lowly service: some are ready to submit to pastor when asked to preach but unwilling when asked to clean a toilet — God may be handing you a toilet brush instead of a microphone. A true worshiper will be a doorkeeper in the house of God, serve in the sound booth, or vacuum the aisles, just to be where God is.
- Praise is still comely: stepping outside his hotel he saw the sun shining, heard the birds, and saw the trees clapping their hands — 'ain't no rock gonna take my place; I'm gonna praise.'
- When his production team asked him for a hazer, he answered by opening his Bible to Ezekiel chapter one: God showing Himself to Ezekiel — cherubim with four wings and four faces, wheels in the middle of wheels whose rims were full of eyes, and above them a shining glory and a sapphire-like throne, with the voice of the Lord sounding like many waters.
- If you want your church to light up, you be the light — praise Him until the Spirit of God consumes, clap your hands and shout unto God with a voice of triumph.
Scriptures: Ezekiel 1
Joseph's Two Reminders: Don't Forget God, Don't Forget Me
- Joseph lived holding the promise God made to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and dying he recognized that where the next generation was going depended on them carrying the faith of previous generations. The bones represent that faith, God's covenant, and His promises — our past, but also our future.
- First: don't forget God. The revival being experienced in home cities and towns is not because of our songs, sermons, pews, or carpet, but because God is faithful to His word and will not leave His bride, His church.
- Deuteronomy chapter eight warns the people: take care lest you forget the Lord your God — lest when you have eaten and are full, built good houses, and multiplied in herds, flocks, silver, and gold, your heart be lifted up and you forget the Lord who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
- What if the week stopped being the overflow of Sunday and Sunday became the overflow of the week — coming into His presence already burning with a fire kindled all week, not needing a pastor or praise team to stir one up?
- Second: don't forget me. Joseph had been forgotten before — in the pit, in the prison, by the very people he helped, and by a new Pharaoh who rose up and forgot him. He wanted to be remembered among his people as one who never gave up on God and never gave up on them.
- Paul charged the church, 'remember my chains' — remember what it cost, remember your heritage, for this gospel does not come cheap. Somebody prayed for you and preached the gospel to you; gray-haired mothers of God are in prayer closets right now touching heaven for people who don't even know it.
Scriptures: Deuteronomy 8; Colossians 4:18
Moses Stops at the Graveyard
- Israel headed out of Egypt rejoicing — traveling clothes on, bags packed, staffs in hand, singing songs of redemption, even carrying the gold, silver, and jewelry of Egypt, handed over as they asked from house to house — but Moses said they had to go by the graveyard first.
- There was an oath to keep; if they left without the bones, they would lose something of their identity.
- Three times in the Old Testament it was said that not one of the Messiah's bones would be broken — a reminder that He will hold His church together: sometimes you carry the bones, and other times the bones carry you.
- Even if the gates of hell come against the church, it will not prosper and will not defeat it — he is standing by the grace of God on a truth that has been handed to him.
I Had Some Bones to Carry: W.H. Billy Cole
- Preaching a youth camp in West Virginia two years ago, he first went on a secret mission: he stopped at the cemetery and spent about an hour in the dark mausoleum of Pastor W.H. Billy Cole, thanking the Lord for the Coles' influence on his life.
- When he was a young man of 15 years old, Brother Cole called his father and took Aaron with him on an Ethiopian crusade; the miracles the Lord did through Cole lit a fire and a desire in him that he wanted for himself.
- He does not pray to the dead — that is not scriptural or biblical — but he asked the Lord to let Brother Cole hear what he was about to say: that he would preach to those young people the way it was given to him, not watered down and not changed.
- He carried those bones to the youth camp and preached to the best of his ability, because he had been entrusted with something — and God is now trying to entrust this generation, not only the young, to rise up and carry the bones.
The Faith Deposited by Shirley Shelton
- Three weeks ago his wife's family buried Shirley Shelton — a praying woman of God he loved dearly and misses so much, whose influence has indirectly touched even the people at this conference, and whose absence makes heaven sweeter.
- When Mark Morgan was starting out in ministry and was used in the gift of prophecy one night, what the Lord showed and revealed scared him; he wanted nothing to do with it and drove home to Kennett, Missouri, arriving about 7 a.m.
- Brother Carol Magruder was waiting by his garage — because at the 6 a.m. prayer meeting that morning, Shirley Shelton had prophesied that Mark Morgan would be driving through soon, and that what God had used him in the night before was going to be vital to his ministry.
- She was waiting for him at the cafeteria of the little school where she worked, and that little woman of God stood before him and prophesied over his life, impacting and changing him.
- That is why he preaches, prays, sings, serves, and gives: there is a faith that has been deposited into his life, and some things he just can't let go of.
The Call: Who Will Carry the Bones?
- The appeal goes out to anyone under the sound of his voice willing to carry the bones: step out from where you are and come down to the front of this place right now.
- It may never be flashy, and your name may never be called at General Conference — but can you pray in the secret place? Can you fast in the secret place? What is done in the secret place, the Father rewards openly.
- With hands lifted, he leads a prayer of faith over the people: a fresh anointing and an open heaven released in the name of Jesus upon their lives, ministries, churches, families, spouses, and children — a deeper place in the Spirit, and a good work God will complete until the day of Jesus Christ.
- As the capture ends, he is calling the people to lay hands on their brother and sister and pray for the fire of the Holy Ghost to fall afresh; the recording ends with that prayer still in progress, and no closing or dismissal is captured.

And so I want to get right to the words so that we can get to the second part of what God is going to do in this place tonight. So if you have your Bibles turned to Genesis chapter 50 and I want to begin at verse 24 through 26, and then I want to direct your attention to Exodus chapter 13 and verse 19. So Genesis chapter 50 verse 24 through 26. First book in your Bible. If you're there, say amen. If you're going to cheat, say I'm going to cheat with the screen. Hey, that's what it's there for. That's why we spend the big bucks on these screens. So there you go. And Joseph said to his brethren, I die, and God will surely visit you and bring you out of this land unto the land which he swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel saying, God will surely visit you and you shall carry up my bones from hence. So Joseph died being 110 years old. They embalmed him. He was put in a coffin in Egypt. Carry up my bones. Exodus chapter 13, 1 verse 19. And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him. For he had straightly sworn the children of Israel saying, God will surely visit you and you shall carry up my bones away hence with you. Carry up my bones. I feel an unction from the Holy Ghost tonight to stir your faith, to charge you with a mission. Because we have been given a precious truth and a treasure that should not be disregarded. It's been handed down to us from heralds of the faith who once sat in services just like this. They were in life just like you are. They once heard a message like I'm going to preach to you tonight. It's nothing new. But we have been given a precious gift and tonight my message to every believer under the sound of my voice is this. Carry the bones. I want you to turn to a few people right now and just tell them carry the bones.
The heavenly Father and great God that we serve. I thank you for your presence that is in this place and for your church, your people that have gathered together. We ask now Lord that you let your fresh anointing fall upon us as we approach the altar of your word. Let us receive it with faith that it may be able to save our souls. Capture our attention. Give us understanding. Give us your favor we pray and we'll forever be grateful and give you all the glory for it. In the name of Jesus we pray and everybody said amen. On your way to sitting down clap your hands one more time unto the Lord.
It was 1902 at the turn of the 20th century. Henry Osborn sat at his desk in a large office in Manhattan and pondered what to do next. He was a wealthy socialite. Osborn didn't have the invention of social media to keep his family name famous like the Kardashians. So in that day one of the ways to remain prominent was to build something with your name on it and his family built a museum with their name on it. It was a great idea for a lot of years. The museum thrived for a time with amazing dinosaur bones and scientific discoveries never before seen. But with the industrial revolution beginning apartment complexes, subway systems, filtered water elevators, automobiles all started to rapidly change the landscape of the old city. People specifically young people weren't especially impressed with his museum and attendance gradually declined. That triangular building in New York that everyone loves to get their picture taken in front of was just being built. People didn't have time to see some dusty old dinosaur bones. Osborn's museum was built on dinosaur discoveries. So his idea was to find the largest dinosaur bones ever discovered. There were letters and journals he had read of people who had seen bones larger than anything he had in his museum and these bones presumably were in the wilderness of Montana. So he hired an archaeologist and explorer named Barnum Brown. Brown was paid to go and search the wilderness of Montana for something large that the world had never seen before. Brown had a map of Montana photographs of a man's farm that a friend of his had stumbled upon where there were mounds of ancient dirt that potentially large bones of dinosaurs had remained unearthed. The only problem is that his friend forgot where the farm was. They didn't have a way to contact the man who owned the farm. They didn't have GPS cell phones, Google Maps in those days. But that didn't deter Brown from heading out on an adventure to see what he could discover for Osborn's museums. And for a year he searched and dug with a small team of helpers who dug through mountains of dirt and land in search of some great discovery. They couldn't find anything big for a while. They found nothing profound. It was a disappointing year and the frustration was mounting as the temperatures rose. The dust choked the lungs and if it wasn't too dry and hot, it was too wet and windy. The weather conditions were almost unbearable in that barren land of Montana. What was amazing to me is that he had notes from Lewis and Clark expedition that they had found fossilized fish bones, petrified jaw bones of large fish in the desert. Hmm. Wonder how that happens? Well, the Bible has a little thing to say about something called the flood. Fish bones, but nothing profound. Not exactly what he was looking for. So as the last days of July 1902 ticked away, Brown found himself torn. He and his team had found the partial skull of a triceratops. It was large, but the museum already had one of those. He believed there was something bigger yet to be discovered. But if anything, the skull would buy him some time to keep on digging for that larger discovery that would save the museum. So he braved another ravine. He searched another hillside. He climbed over the side of another cliff to find something bigger. As the temperature soared above 100 degrees brown, he worked without stopping. And as July turned into August, he came to a sandstone hill that he called Sheba Mountain. And with a plow and a scraper, he was determined to find what lay beneath this old hill. And once he began to dig, he discovered that the rock was too hard, seeming impervious to any blade. Partly frustrated, partly curious. He sent his assistant to a small city to purchase enough dynamite to just blow up the hillside. He had to know what the earth was protecting with such ferocity. So he laid the explosives. He set the timer. He waited, and that blast echoed throughout the ravines of the badlands reverberating like distant thunder. A dark cloud of dust and dirt hung in the air so thick he could taste sand on his tongue. And once that smoke cleared, he saw what no human being had ever seen or heard of up to that time. He wrote about it, and he said quarry number one contains the skull, the tail, the femur, the humerus, three vertebrae, and two undetermined bones of a large carnivorous dinosaur. It was on that momentous day that Brown had discovered a dinosaur with a four-foot-long jaw that could exert as much pressure as the weight of three modern cars instantly exploding the bones of its prey. Its serrated teeth, the longest of any known dinosaur, could dig through the thick skin of a triceratops, rip out 500 pounds of flesh in one bite. Its hips enabled that beast to run up to 25 miles per hour. And just for reference, anybody heard of Usain Bolt back in the day? He was one of the fastest men alive, ran 27 miles per hour. I can clock about nine miles per hour. Don't be too impressed. He was a fast, inforosius beast, and in that moment in the hot August sun, the animal that would soon take the name of Tyrannosaurus Rex was entirely new and more surreal than anyone had imagined. To some, it was just some old bones, but that bone discovery saved the museum, and more importantly, it changed the landscape of America. History was uncovered. Books have been written about the T. Rex. Movies have been made. Books have been had. People have been amazed at the incredible T. Rex just by the discovery of some old dusty bones. Archaeologists and forensic anthropologists love finding bones. They're important to discovering cultures, unveiling human history and lifestyles of individuals.
And did you know that through finding human bones, they can tell a lot about an individual's race and age and even the sex of the individual? It's amazing to me that the archaeologists can look at some bones and not have to say, I wonder which of the 72 genders this individual will. Don't get your feathers ruffled too much. I don't intend to step on any toes. Just tuck them up under your seat if it's too much for you tonight. You can call yourself what you want, but the bones don't lie. They can tell if it's a male or a female human based off its bone, because in the beginning God created them male and female. I just want to tell you that bones will keep you balanced. Somebody say bones, bones. You have roughly 206 of them in your body. Bones provide support for your body. They help form your shape. Although they're very light bones are strong enough to support your entire weight. Bones protect the vital organs. The skull protects the brain forms the shape of your face. Bones allow you to move bones, produce red and white blood cells that produce bone marrow. Bones store minerals like calcium and vitamin D that are essential to your survival. Nobody really thinks about bones until you break one of them. Is anybody broken a bone? Yeah. Anybody not broken a bone. That's me. I've never broken a bone in my life. It's the favor of God and favor ain't fair. Bones, bones are essential. Lord, don't let me break a bone tonight. Bones are essential to us living. If it weren't for our bones, we'd be little jello masses praising God on the floor tonight. But that's the power and the essentiality of bones.
Now, I know some people are going to say, but preacher, they're just bones. What are you talking about? Who cares about some bones? But I submit to you tonight that if you want to know the power of bones, go back to your Bible and talk to Adam because God created the first woman out of his rib bone. I don't know. Some women ought to just shout hallelujah for that. You talk to Samson, who killed a thousand Philistines with the jawbone of a donkey. You ought to talk to old prophet Elisha because it was Elisha who had twice as many miracles as his predecessor Elijah. And he was dead and buried and some men were carrying their friend who had just died and the enemy started to come and they were terrified. So they took their friend and threw him into a cave that just happened to have some old bones of a prophet. And when their dead friend touched the bones of Elisha, the man sat cause those bones still retain some faith and old power, some authority in the bone. Consider Ezekiel in the word of God. When God came to him and said, Ezekiel, can these bones live? Lord, down know us prophesied to the bones and Ezekiel stood up and prophesied and those bones rattled together and came to exceeding great army. I'm just saying, don't underestimate the power and the important of bones. We need the bones. The church needs the bones. Turn to somebody say the church needs the bones. Yeah, the bones represent the power of God. The bones represent the truth about God. The bones represent the shape and the stability of the church. The bones represent an old faith because you can't walk into a new promise without an old faith. You cannot walk into a new anointing without an old faith. Don't you expect God to bless you now? If you're not appreciative and reaching for what you had there, you may be stepping into some new position, to new ministry, some new anointing that God wants to give you for this generation. But it's going to require a faith that our fathers and mothers and predecessors had. It's going to require a faith that went through the fire and went through the water and went through the storm. And it survived all things. You've got to have that kind of faith. Fashion may change. Music may change. Methods may change. But some things are still worth holding on.
Oh, yeah, winds. I've come to preach to you tonight. That there's still some things to hold fast for Hebrews said, let us hold fast. The profession of our faith without wavering for he is faithful. That promise. Paul told Timothy, hold fast that form of sound words, which now is heard of me in faith and love, which is in Christ Jesus. That good thing. Somebody say that good thing. Say that good thing. That good thing that was committed unto thee. Keep. I got to preach to somebody tonight because you've got to keep some things that have been given to you before you run off and get into this foot race. And before you run off and try to get into this new realm of ministry that God has given to you, you better hold on to what you've been entrusted with. You better hold on to some truth that was still be seated. There's still some good things that are worth holding on to. In these last and evil days, there's still some good things worth holding on to. In this world gripped in darkness, there's still some good things worth your time and your investment and your sacrifice. There's still some good things that have been given to us. There's good things that have been entrusted to us. There's still some good things you've got to carry for our generation. And while we're on to new anointings and callings and destinies and while we're doing greater things and previous generations while we've got new methods and new buildings and new songs and new conferences while we're moving forward, we have a response. I hear the Holy Ghost speaking to somebody tonight. We've got a responsibility to hold fast and keep this good thing.
Can I tell you about some good things to hold on to tonight? Can I briefly just remind you? I know I'm preaching to the choir tonight, but maybe somebody needs to be reminded in the Holy Ghost of some good things that you need to hold on to. Can I tell you that this oneness doctrine is still a good thing to hold on to? It's more than semantics and denominational lines. It is his identity. Here, oh Israel, the Lord our God is one Lord. Show us the Father and it suffices us. Philip, have I been so long time with you and yet thou hast not known me? He that has seen me has seen the Father for in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily and you are completed him, which is the, oh, principality and power and without controversy. And without controversy, great is the mystery of godliness, not the Godhead. I don't need to under, I don't need to have a mystery of how many people are in the Godhead. I don't need to have a mystery of how many gods are. The mystery is that God became flesh, justified in the spirit scene of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world and received up into glory. It's still a good thing church. Can I tell you that this new birth is still a good thing to hold on to? I know people have questions. I know they got doubts. I know they come to you with their new theologies. They come to you thinking they found something new, but I want to tell you that Jesus told Nicodemus, he said accept the man, be born again of the water and of the spirit. He cannot enter. You cannot see the kingdom of God and I can't water it down for you. Simply because it might hurt your feelings or mess up your theological background. But the word is the truth that will set you free. Jesus said there's only one way. There's only one door and if any man comes in the other way, he's a thief and he's a. I'm sorry. We got any apostolic in the house. I just want to make sure I'm in the right place tonight. I want to make sure that I still came to a group of people who believe in this apostolic message. That baptism in the name of Jesus is still the only way Peter said out of them. Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ. It's more than just a public confession of your faith. It's for the remission of your sins. Baptism death now also save us. It's not the washing of this flesh. But the answer of a good conscience towards God. And if no one in his family had to go through the water, baby, you better believe it. The apostle Peter said we've got to go through the water. Hey, if you've never been baptized in the precious name of Jesus for the remission of your sins, the water's ready. Am I right, brother Myers? The water's ready. You can be baptized. Do I have any witness in the house that remembers when your sins tonight's your night? Don't wait another moment. Don't wait another day. Don't wait till next Sunday. But tonight is your night to go down and be buried with him in baptism. The new birth is still a good thing. Somebody say it's a good thing. Come on, be seated. You're getting me worked up tonight.
Holiness is still a good thing. Follow peace with all men and holiness without which no man shall see the Lord because it is written, be ye holy. For I am holy. Come out from among them. Apostolic, stop getting entangled with the affairs of this world and get to be a good soldier because no good soldier entangles himself with the affairs of this life in this world. Come out from among them and be ye separate. Says the Lord and I will receive you. Yeah, I dress different. I talk different. I live different. I act different. Cause holiness is still right. I wish somebody lift their hands in here tonight and thank God for making us holy through His Spirit. I wish somebody give Him thanks tonight. Clap your hands unto the Lord tonight.
Word of God is still a good thing to hold on to. Forever, oh Lord, thy word is settled in heaven. Thy word have I hidden my heart so that I might not sin against the... Oh, Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. You know why some people don't listen to the Word anymore cause they're tired of being corrected? Help me Jesus. And some correction you'd receive you called church hurt. God help us right now. I'm not talking disparagingly about people who have really been abused from spiritual leadership and things that have happened within the church. I believe all of that. I'm a pastor and understand I'm not a perfect man and things do happen. But we better check ourselves before we wreck ourselves. Somebody said we better give back to the Word of God and understand that the Word is meant to bring correction into our life like a sword. It divides a thunder between the soul and spirit and the joints and the marrow and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Some things you don't even know. But the Word of God exposes. You think you know there all there is to know about yourself but whenever you get into this book it can read you. It knows you better than you know your... Let me just tell you young people and those that are here tonight if you can quote more movie lines then you can quote the Bible. I had a young lady that was sitting in my office just a few days ago with my wife and I and she said pastor I want to really live for God. I want to hear his voice but I had to repent the other day because she said the Lord convicted me and said I can quote preachers more than I can quote the Word. I wonder apostolic if we've really read the Word or we're just listening to people talk about the Word. We get our cute little quotes. We get our little things we can post back on social media to feel good like we somehow know the book but unless you get yourself into the Word of God you really don't know. This isn't just for preachers behind a pulpit. It starts with saints in the secret place. It's still a good thing. You can be seated.
Come on prayer is still a good thing to hold on to. I exhort that first of all supplications, prayers, intercessions, giving of thanks, be made for all men. Paul wrote in Colossians 4 too, devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. Jesus said watch and pray so that you do not enter into temptation. Some of you don't need more willpower. You need more prayer power. You're saying oh God just give me more will to get over this sin but you haven't really prayed until you've humbled yourself to death, until you've crucified and modified the deeds of the body. But God is asking his church to get back to prayer. We're living too late in the end game for any one of us to walk around without getting heaven's notice, without listening to the voice of the Spirit. There is still a good thing.
It's alright everybody alright? Worship is still a good thing to hold on to. I'm not talking about praise. I'm talking about worship. Cause everybody can praise the Lord. Let everything to have breath praise ye the Lord but not everybody can worship. Paul the Bible says the Father is seeking such double worship in spirit and in truth. Some people are given, some people are sacrificing but they're not doing it in truth. They're not doing it in sincerity. They don't have spirit, the spirit within them. They've not submitted themselves to God's authority over their life and they think that they're alright cause they threw a little bit in the offering. But God says I'm looking for worshipers who will submit themselves, humble themselves under the mighty hand of God. So Paul says do not be conformed to this world. Be transformed by the renewing of your mind. That's worship. I beseech you therefore brother and by the mercies of God that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God which is your reasonable service. Another translation is reasonable worship. Worship is when you humbly give of yourself to God. It's bowing down to God. It's saying not my will but thy will be done. Can I tell you that worship? It's still a good thing. Some of you are ready to submit to pastor when he asks you to preach but you're not willing to submit to pastor when he asks you to clean the toilet. My God help us. There's a revelation right there. I think there's a little revelation right there cause God's trying to get you to submit to things that your flesh doesn't want to submit to. You've got high and lofty ambitions and ideas because you place preacher preachers on pedestals thinking that's what I want. Just give me a mic in my hand and I could really be used of God. Instead he's trying to hand you a toilet brush and you say no that's beneath me. I could never do anything like that but true worshipers say wherever you want me whatever I can do I'll be a doorkeeper in the house of God. Cause just one day in his courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. Where do you want me? You want me in the sound booth? I'll go there. Where do you want me? You want me in the aisle worshiping upright? I'll go here. Where do you want me? You want me vacuum in the aisles? I'll do that cause I want to be where God is. Worship is still a good thing. Hold on y'all I'm 42 let me catch my next breath so I can get this point out. I was worshiping the Lord this morning and I pulled a little something right here that didn't used to happen. Some of you saw me worshiping over there bowing down. I was really just trying to stretch out to be honest with you. I said oh God, head and shoulders, knees and toes.
Praise is still comely. Now some of you say well I got my praise on the inside. It doesn't take all that noise, all that loudness. It doesn't take all of that cause I just got a praise on the inside. But I stepped outside of my hotel today and I saw that sun a billion light years away that was shining bright for the glory of God. I heard the birds that were chirping. I saw the grass that was blowing in the breeze and I saw the trees as they were clapping their hands and I said ain't no rock gonna take my place. I'm gonna praise. He's done too much for me. It's still a good day. Brother Myers I'm on metal a little bit. I don't mean to metal. I may never get invited back again after this. My God this is it. Some people now listen I just had my production team that does an amazing job. They asked me for a hazer. I said listen I got tight right there real quick. I said listen I don't like all this hazy stuff that's going on around here. I just you know we're gonna be careful. We don't want to offend other people and we're gonna focus on God. I opened up my Bible to Ezekiel chapter one man I'm Midland tonight. I opened up my Bible to Ezekiel chapter one. Whenever God showed up himself to Ezekiel and he showed him four cherubim angels with four wings. They had four faces. A lion they had the face of a human they had the face of an eagle. They had all these different faces and here they had they were sitting on top or riding on top of wheels in the middle of wheels and in the rims of the wheels were full of eyes and above the cherubim there was this beautiful glory diamond like cloud that was shimmering and shining them above them and then the throne that was in blue it was so beautiful like a sapphire and there was one sitting upon that throne up there and I saw the glory of God and the Bible says that Ezekiel heard it it was the voice of the Lord sounding like many waters and I read all of that and I said you want me to be plain in my praise now I'm not preaching you need to get yourself a hazer because some of you pastors like watch out I'm not saying you got to get yourself 16 lights but why don't you be a light some of you are like man if we could just have like lights like Eastwind man get the lights up here we could really have some church and you're sitting there as dark and as dry as ever if you really want your church to light up why don't you be the light why don't you let some glory come out of you why don't you praise him until the spirit of God consume or clap your hands all you people shout unto God with a voice of child I'm going to let your hands to him right now I'm almost done but let your hands to him right now help us to keep on holding on to good things hey Jesus Jesus you can be seated I'm almost done
Joseph had lived holding on to faithful promise that God had made to Abraham Isaac and Jacob and now he's dying and he recognized that where the next generation was going depended on them carrying the faith of previous generations that had passed on and he said carry the bones why the bones Joseph why such a strange and odd request why carry your bones I believe that Joseph was making a statement in fact I believe that there were two things that he was trying to remind them of and I want to give them to you real quickly number one I believe that he was trying to remind the people of God don't forget God God is going to visit you like he promised to Abraham Isaac and Jacob the bones represent the faith of previous generations and the covenant of God with his people the bones represent promises God made to Israel the bones represent our past but it also represents our future his bones Joseph's bones were a testimony to the fact that God always keeps his promises and the revival that some of you are experiencing in your home cities and in the towns that you came from is because God has been faithful to his promises it's not just because of all the songs that you've been singing it's not just because of the sermons you've been preaching it's not because you got the nice patapues and the carpet down your aisles it's because God is faithful to his word he will not leave his bride he will not leave his church the reason that we're experiencing what we're experiencing tonight is because God is faithful the wise man said in Deuteronomy chapter 8 take care lest you forget the Lord your God by not keeping his commandments and his rules and his statutes which I command you today lest when you've eaten and you're fooled and you build good houses and you live in them when your herds and flocks multiply and your silver and gold is multiplied and all that you have is multiplied then your heart be lifted up and you forget the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt out of the house of slavery don't forget God I know that sounds strange to a bunch of church going apostolics but sometimes we can come in and lift up a praise to a God we didn't talk to all week long and it's almost as if he's got to say could you remind me of your name again because I don't think I've seen you for a while don't forget God what if our week stopped being the overflow of Sunday and Sunday became the overflow of the week what if we didn't need pastor to try to stir up a fire inside of us what if we didn't need our praise team to try to get up a new song some new melody to try to get us up and get us on our feet and stir us up what if we came into his presence with singing what if we came into the house of the Lord with the fire that we've been burning in all week long don't forget God I'm almost done musicians you can come but don't don't forget God but secondly I believe he was going to say don't forget me don't forget me Joseph had been forgotten before he had lived without his family while his father thought he was dead his brothers tried to forget him he'd been forgotten in a pit he'd been forgotten in a prison forgotten by the very people that he had helped and the Bible even says that a new Pharaoh rose up that forgot Joseph when Joseph died Joseph wanted to be remembered with his people he wanted them to remember that he never gave up on God and he never gave up on them Joseph wanted them to remember his sacrifice in Colossians 4 18 Paul so told the church remember my chains remember what I've gone through to get you where you are remember that this gospel doesn't come cheap remember your heritage remember what it took for the gospel to read don't forget about me there's a reason why we're sitting here it's because there were people that prayed for us people that preached the gospel to us in fact while I was in my hotel room the Holy Ghost spoke to me about some people that are in here right now and you've got people that are praying over you and you don't even know it you don't even know it but they're praying over you right now and the only reason that you're sitting here by the grace of God is because somebody was touching heaven for you gray haired old mama of God is praying for you somewhere right now somebody's been in their prayer closet in the secret place praying for you remember remember those who've gone before us and paved the way for us to be here man I didn't get here on my own yeah I sure didn't get here on my own
Moses Israel they're headed out of Egypt man they're excited they're rejoicing freedom never felt so good and here they got their traveling clothes on they got their bags already packed the blood of the lamb hasn't even dried up over the doors of their houses and they're so excited because they're finally free from bondage they're finally free from slavery and they got everything together they got their kids and their family and what little possessions they had they got that packed up in their bags and they got their staff in their hand and they're going out singing the songs of redemption and in fact they not only have all that but they got the wealth of Egypt because the Lord told them why don't you go from house to house and just ask your neighbors for their wealth and they'll give it to you and that's what they did wouldn't that be awesome they went and said we want your gold we want your silver we'll take that jewelry that's over there and they said sure get out and they're going with all these things and man they're getting out and Moses says no we got to go by the graveyard first Moses we were almost in the graveyard promise that we got to keep got an oath we got to go to the graveyard and we got to get some bones because if we leave without these bones we're going to lose our identity we're going to lose we're going to lose something about us I believe that's why Jesus fulfilled the prophecy thousands of years before he was ever crucified three times in the Old Testament the Bible says that not one of the Messiah's bones would be broken because he wanted to remind his church I'm gonna hold you together because sometimes you carry the bones and other times the bones carry you and he wanted his church to know that even if the gates of hell come against you it shall not prosper it's not gonna defeat the church not one of his bones was I'm standing by the grace of God on a truth that's been handed to me
I was preaching in West Virginia two years ago and the youth president had called me and said hey I want you to preach a youth camp I said be happy to come what I didn't tell him was that I had a secret mission that I went on before I went to that youth camp and I went by the cemetery I went by the cemetery because I lost a great man of God in my life show that picture if you will I went and I had to see pastor W.H. Billy Cole I know he touched a lot of people's lives I had to go and stop by this dark dusty mausoleum and I was in there for about an hour we've been thanking the Lord for the Cole's influence on my life when I was a young man I was 15 years old they called my dad up said I want Aaron to go on this Ethiopian crusade with me so many miracles and things that the Lord did through him I wanted it it was part of that fire that desire so I went back in with the bones of the prophet the man of God and I know that we don't pray to the dead that's not scriptural it's not biblical but I asked the Lord I said Lord would you just let brother Cole maybe peep over the balcony of heaven just let him hear what I'm about to say I want to preach to you young people in your district and I'm going to preach it the way that you gave it to me I'm not going to water it down I'm not going to change it I'm going to preach it I had some bones to carry it's not always popular not everybody likes you not everybody agrees with you but these bones have been around for a long time that represent the promises of God said I've got to carry this and I carried it to that youth camp and preached it to the best of my ability because I've been entrusted with something like God is trying to entrust to this generation to those of you that are here tonight God is trying to call you to rise up and carry some things in your life I know we honor him we revere him a lot of them are passing off the scene it's your turn and if you think I'm just talking to young people you got me dead wrong tonight it's time for you to carry the bones
