Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved

  • He reads his text, Romans 10:8-13: the word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth and in thy heart — the word of faith which we preach; confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, and thou shalt be saved; whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed; for whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. That last verse sounds like a Billy Graham crusade — how does a thoroughgoing Apostolic make sense of it? The sinner's prayer that makes it a mere confession was invented by Billy Graham in the 1970s; it had never been in Christianity before that. Faith has to be based on God's word, so he will reframe Jesus-name baptism to answer it.
  • The Old Testament foundation: Numbers 6:22-27. God tells Moses to speak unto Aaron and his sons: on this wise — in the Hebrew, in this exact way — ye shall bless the children of Israel: The LORD bless thee and keep thee; the LORD make his face shine upon thee and be gracious unto thee; the LORD lift up his countenance upon thee and give thee peace. The all-caps LORD is the tip-off: the covenant name of God is being called over the children of Israel by the priesthood, at God's command. And verse 27: they shall put my name upon the children of Israel, and I will bless them. That is why we are the name-called people. Beside it stands Acts 4:12 — neither is there salvation in any other, for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. This is more than a line of distinction between us and our Trinitarian friends, more than a Baskin-Robbins flavor: what does it mean to have the name of God called over you? The lesson's question: what does it mean to call upon the name of the Lord — traced from the Old Testament, our lens for understanding the New (as "Behold the Lamb of God" only means something particular against substitutionary sacrifice).

Scriptures: Romans 10:8-13; Numbers 6:22-27; Acts 4:12

The covenant name: Yahweh Elohim, and the idiom of Genesis 4:26

  • The covenant name is in the word from the beginning. Genesis 2:7 reads LORD God — Yahweh Elohim. Genesis 1 speaks of God every time as Elohim: God most powerful, the Creator, who can create what He doesn't have in your life. From Genesis 2, as God commissions humanity as His image-bearers and vice-regents to exercise dominion and shape creation in His image, it is Yahweh Elohim — the God of covenant personally involved in your process; if you're doing God's business, Heaven is invested in you. Satan, in the temptation, goes back to Elohim only — all-powerful and remote, a lawgiver with the dynamic of relationship removed; Scripture is tipping you off about how to relate to God.
  • The name is ancient, whatever the liberal seminaries say: the Ebla tablets, a thousand years before Moses, show a written language and early references to the name — Moses was no caveman, and the biblical record is vindicated. Then the key text, Genesis 4:26: to Seth a son was born, Enos — then began men to call upon the name of the Lord. The classic King James margin flags the Hebrew idiom (qara beshem Yahweh): literally, to pronounce the name of the Lord over an individual or group — to be called by the name of the Lord. An idiom is a manner of speech where you say one thing and intend something deeper (his Tennessee mother's "I will tan your hide"). Two lines develop from here: the godly line of Seth, called by the name, and the ungodly line of Cain, not called by the name.
  • Exodus 34:5-7: the LORD descended in the cloud, stood with Moses there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD — The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, abundant in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin. It happened to Moses as Israel's representative: their forgiveness, and their identity as a covenant people, hang on being a name-called people. And Amos 9 staggers the Jewish sensibility: in that day I will raise up the tabernacle of David and build it as in the days of old, that they may possess the remnant of Edom and all the heathen which are called by my name — heathen to the most (goyim, as kadosh kodeshim is holy of holies, emphasis not plurality) becoming insiders with the name of God called over them. That is what happens when somebody goes down in the watery grave in Jesus' name: something particular, not just hurrying them through so they can get the Spirit.

Scriptures: Genesis 2:7; Genesis 1; Genesis 4:26; Exodus 34:5-7; Amos 9

What the called-over name meant, I: ownership

  • Three aspects of what it meant to call the name of the Lord over people, places, and things in the Old Testament. First: ownership. To name something was to own it. Joab, about to take a city, sends for David: come, lest it be called by my name (2 Samuel, as captioned). The stronghold stops being the city of waters and becomes the city of David (2 Samuel 5:17 as cited) — because it belongs to David. Exodus 19-20: God calls His name over Israel and in that act they become His possession.
  • The pattern is the suzerainty treaty (Mendenhall's work on covenant): a high king over lesser kings — the King of kings. A nation with an enemy it can't handle appeals to the high king; he comes and fights for you, but only if you pledge yourself as his vassal — covenant loyalty, exclusively. Marriage is the same shape: nobody proposes marriage-with-weekend-dating and gets a yes. So you can't trick people at an altar: repentance first — he that cometh to God must believe that he is — because they have to know what kind of relationship they're getting into; then, when they understand repentance and baptism, the Spirit can come. Jesus asks, why do you call me Lord, Lord, and do not the things I say? No man can serve two masters; James says friendship with the world is enmity with God — divided loyalty, divided victory. When you go down in repentance and say, I want His name called over me in baptism, you are pledging loyalty to the King, and you receive what you could not do yourself, in a relationship nobody else on earth has: there are insiders and outsiders, people called by His name and people without that privilege; God obligates Himself to you as you swear loyalty to Him.
  • Ownership extends to sacred places: Deuteronomy 12:5 and 11 — the place which the LORD your God shall choose out of all your tribes to put His name there, to cause His name to dwell there; there you bring your burnt offerings, sacrifices, tithes, and vows. Worship brought outside the place called by His name is incomplete: everything you do in worship is incomplete until you enter the kingdom by being baptized in the only saving name — then all of heaven is on your side.

Scriptures: 2 Samuel 16-31; 2 Samuel 5:17; Exodus 19-20; James (book-only, as spoken); Deuteronomy 12:5, 11

II: redemption. III: His presence — and the obedience that opens both

  • Second: redemption. Exodus 20:2 — I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. The pronouncement of the name is linked with redemption: appeal to the high King and he comes and fights for you because he has obligated himself — and his reputation is at stake; he does some things for his name's sake. Isaiah's appeal runs the same way: Lord, the heathen don't have Your name on them — the only way for You to get glory in the earth is through Your name-called people. It is about His name and His glory, not yours; embrace who you are as a people of the name.
  • Third: the Lord's presence. Psalm 106 — Praise ye (plural) the LORD, the covenant God; O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good (tov, the Genesis 1 word), for his mercy endureth forever. Mercy is insider language — covenant tenderness toward those in relationship with him; you won't bankrupt heaven with your problems, the way he would bankrupt himself for the boy doing an internship in California, because that boy is called by his name. Forever means into the age to come: two ages in the Hebrew consciousness, this age and eternity. Exodus 3:14 — I AM THAT I AM: in the Hebrew also I will be that I am — if I've ever been who I am, I will always be who I am; the same yesterday, today, and forever. The plagues were that presence demonstrating itself: sick cattle under Apis, Egypt's reincarnated cow god; boils closing every priestly door in Memphis's hundred-plus temples (Holcroft on the Pentateuch) — God demonstrating to Israel, to Egypt, and to future generations: I am, and they are not. With my name comes my presence; with my name comes my power; with my name comes my deliverance.
  • But the name is not a conjuring formula: Baal's 850 prophets at Carmel could not conjure their god, and the LORD will not be conjured — we are not sorcerers. Exodus 19:5: now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people. Wedding guests are covenant witnesses; he brings heaven and earth to witness. Obey, and all of heaven and earth is on your side and the problems form you instead of crushing you; disobey, and they are against you — like gravity, you ignore them at your peril. You call on the name not for a Mercedes but from inside obedience: God, I'm your name-called child, doing Your will; You see my struggle; help me, Lord.

Scriptures: Exodus 20:2; Psalm 106; Exodus 3:14

Don't make the name empty

  • Cain "left the presence of the Lord" — how, if God is omnipresent (if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there)? Scripture speaks of presence in more than one way: there is a covenant presence, the shining face (panim) of approval, promised where two or three are gathered in His name, that you don't have anywhere else. Cain chose to leave covenant; Adam and Eve hid and sewed coverings because their conscience was afflicted at crossing the relationship. Perfection, in his definition, is simply having nothing left to repent of: it is in the struggling and the striving that we're accounted righteous, being conformed into His image from glory to glory. The wicked flee when no man pursueth, but the righteous — the obedient — are bold as a lion.
  • Deuteronomy 5:11: thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain — vain means empty; don't make it empty to say you're name-called people. Isaiah prophesied the abuse: women laying hold on one man saying, we'll eat our own bread and wear our own apparel; only let us be called by thy name, to take away our reproach — the name without surrender or holiness. God is not into that business; embrace His lordship and He can get blessing into your life. Romans 2:24 is the other side of it: the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you — people claiming the name and living in ways that defame it (everybody has worked beside that kind of Christian). 2 Timothy 2:19: nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal: The Lord knoweth them that are his — they belong to him — and, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. Your obedience is the issue; that's the position from which God glorifies His name in your life.
  • At the end of the Old Testament era the Zadokite priestly line, corrupted under the Greek and Roman empires, stopped pronouncing the name — partly reverence (lest it be taken in vain), but it became secret, priest-only, a political manipulation, while prophets all over Israel were still saying the name of the Lord. The name was never meant to be hidden.

Scriptures: Deuteronomy 5:11; Isaiah (book-only, as spoken); Romans 2:24; 2 Timothy 2:19

The name of Jesus: the same covenant, entered the same way

  • In the New Testament, the name of Jesus is the guarantee of the new covenant and the means that makes you a partner with God. The name Jesus means Yahweh has become my salvation — the same name of God as in the Old Testament, adding the cause: He has become our salvation. Every Apostolic should be able to walk the pattern: Acts 2, Acts 8, Acts 10, Acts 19 — add Acts 22 — all deal with Jesus-name baptism; it is called over people in baptism. James 2:7 seals it: Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by which ye are called? His Bible-college mentor's Trinitarian friend, reading a Hebrew-background translation, found it rendered "that worthy name called over you." The Greek is epikaleo — epi, upon (like epidermis), plus kaleo — literally the name upon-called over you: a transliteration of the Hebrew phrase into Greek. Lars Hartman's classic Into the Name of Jesus shows the phrase "baptism into the name of Jesus" has no Greek equivalent; it is Hebrew carried straight over — God wants you to know the same way they got into covenant in the Old Testament is the same way you get into covenant in the New Testament. Be Berean; check him by the word of God.
  • The three aspects come over with the name. Ownership: Amos again, as the apostles pick it up — the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles upon whom my name is called. We were not a people; He died and shed His blood so that name could graft you into the body as a covenant person. Why wouldn't you say to your pastor today: take me to the waters of baptism; I want that name called over me; I want to belong to Him? Redemption: 1 Corinthians 6:11 — such were some of you, but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified (ye, plural — everybody) in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God: the same water-and-Spirit baptism of John 3. Presence: John 1:14 — the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us. 1 Peter 2: in time past you were not a people, but now are the people of God; you had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy — obtained by baptism in Jesus' name.
  • John 14:14 — If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it — is lordship language, not a command-whatever-you-want blank check: the Son can do nothing of Himself; the Father in Him does the works; under the Spirit's direction it will be according to His will. And 1 Peter 2:9-10: ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people — peculiar as the apple of His eye: as a husband up close sees his reflection in his bride's eye, God is saying there is no one closer to Me in the whole earth than My name-called people. He closes in prayer over these privileged people: praising God for the revelation of His name, for owning and redeeming us, for the presence that walks with us through the valley of the shadow of death — thou, singular God — and thanking Him for the name above every name, earned on Calvary.

God bless you we're happy to have you in Oklahoma praise the Lord everybody what a what we've already been feasting on the word of the Lord my Lord that was a wonderful wonderful word we've already heard from the Lord I appreciate brother Wayland I want to get the name right Wyatt sorry my wife always picks somebody with it brother white where are you in the building thank you sir what a tremendous word from the Lord that we want Victory but not process but the process is the victory that was such a great word to help us find the strength to sustain the walk that our Lord gives us thank you for that tremendous word I thought it paired real really well with what was preached last night and and that winnowing process and I'm going to go run the danger of being too long-winded I know I got till two I won't probably be going till two turn to your neighbor say thank the Lord I'm gonna go to two places in scripture while you're tearing turning there I'm gonna go to number six last half of that chapter last little piece of that chapter and then we'll go to Romans chapter 10.

While you're turning there I just want to say that last night that word that winnowing process that our Lord talked to Peter about he said I prayed for you he didn't he didn't pray pray the prayer that we want he prayed the prayer that we need which is he didn't say I prayed that you would not be sifted instead he says I I know what the enemy means sifting for is for Destruction but my sifting is always to bring out the fruitful how many of you want to be fruitful then go ahead and do what the preacher said today buckle down get patient in the process because he's not interested in your timeline or my timeline he loves us too much to look at our schedule he has his schedule and the sooner we get under that covering the more peace and blessing our life will be amen amen Romans chapter 10. Thank you brother martin I want to give honor to you your leadership of course District secretary brother Hughes and this great District board what a wonderful opportunity to be here we're delighted to be back my sweet wife's here I have a cousin in the building Rachel some year somewhere I thank you for stopping by and we love you very much I want to give honor to my pastor he's going to come later in the week so anything that needs to be straightened out just take it up with brother Carson when he gets here amen Romans chapter 10 we'll read verses 8 through 13. But what saith it the word of nigh the word is nigh thee even in thy mouth and in thy heart that is the word of faith which we preach if Thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead Thou shalt be saved now there's a Word of Faith to confess for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation for the scriptures saith whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed for there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek for the same Lord over all is Rich unto all that call upon it then this verse 13. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall we say now I'm just going to be me this week so buckle up and God bless you if you don't like it I'm sure there's another service or something I'm going to one of these like that whosoever calleth on the name of the Lord shall be saved and I thought man that sounds like a Billy Graham Crusade anybody ever thought that you're reading the Bible you thoroughly Apostolic I'm Apostolic to the Bone I cut my teeth on the Pew as the old saying goes I I was raised in church but have you ever read a passage of scripture and say brother Henson how do I make sense of that how do I wrap my brain around this portion of scripture because our faith has to be based upon God's word and so if if there and I thought okay how do I how do I deal with this is what does it mean that whosoever calleth on the name of the Lord shall be saved so I want to dive in today and see if the Lord will help us I'm going to go to Numbers Chapter 6 because what I want to try to do is refrain baptism in Jesus name a little bit maybe in your mind where did we get it first of all we can go to Numbers Chapter 6 and in verse 22. You can find a clear illusion to Jesus name baptism and this wonderful Old Testament Passage number 6 22 says in the Lord spake unto Moses saying Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons now that's the priesthood saying on this wise it's as strong as you can get in the Hebrew in this exact way on this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel saying unto them how many of you want blessing well this is the way God said he wanted to bless His Old Testament Covenant people he says the Lord bless thee and keep Thee the Lord make his face shine upon thee and be gracious unto thee the Lord lift up his countenance unto thee and give thee peace now if you notice there I'll I'll try to teach a little bit today build your understanding if you notice right there in the King James it's all caps Lord why because they're tipping you off that that's the Covenant name of God in the Old Testament so they are calling the name the Covenant name of God over the children of Israel in the Old Testament for the hands and in the and the priests are command to do do this and in this exact way you're going to bless them that's why we got to be the name called people right now how does that happen and you're going to give them peace I wish we had time to talk about Shalom and lifting up your countenance upon them and look at what it says in verse 27 and they shall put my name upon the children of Israel and I will bless them so what does it mean and that's what I'm going to deal with what does it mean to be call by the name of the Lord what does it mean to be to call on the name of the Lord and and when we begin to talk about these types of things is Jesus name baptism a a way for us to just draw a line distinction between us and our trinitarian friends is it like Baskin Robbins you can have a different flavor and as long as you believe to Jesus you can get to the same heaven it's like there's a a saying somewhere in like maybe Acts chapter 4 verse 12. Neither is there salvation in any other for there is none other name under Heaven given among men whereby we must be saved this is more than a line distinction it's not just the way for us to say you do that at your church we do this at our church no no no no what does it mean when you have the name of God called Over You we're going to look at that because I'm going to show you that's exactly what the Bible is talking about turn to your neighbor say he's going to calm down if you were here three years ago probably not why is this so important to teach things like this I I it's because if we're not careful the the truth of what we believe about calling the name of God over people in baptism taking them and and putting them down in a watery grave can be lost in general Generations so what we're talking about today is what does it mean for the scripture to say to call upon the name of the Lord now I'll make the case I'll show you this that the concept of calling the name of the Lord over people and things is all the way back from the Old Testament all the way into the new and it's impossible for us as New Testament Believers to fully appreciate the impact of some of the things that's going on in the New Testament without knowledge of the old so when John says Behold the Lamb of God he means something particular because in the fullness of time God sent forth his son made of a woman made under the law why because you can't understand what God is doing as the man Jesus until you understand substitutionary sacrifice a lamb had to die so that a sinner could live the same is true when you talk about calling on the name of the Lord you can't just you can't just Billy Graham that you forgive me for being a little snarky today you can't just come down and make that some type of confession a g a sinner's prayer that by the way Billy Graham invented in the 1970s it had never been in Christianity before that you got to say Lord what did you give us about calling the name of your name over things in the Old Testament and how can I understand what that means for me in the new because the Old Testament is our lens by which we can understand the new I wish I had time to talk for an hour right there but I'm going to be hey there's lunch I'm hungry too so from the beginning of the human Divine relationship and continuing even till now God called his name over things and places in the Old Testament so for instance that invoking of the name of the Lord you can see it it's I'll point it out to you there it's in the Hebrew it's a yod he vav he for those of you who just want the Hebrew I know you wanted that so I put that on there for you now what does that mean that Covenant name in the Old Testament in the Hebrew it's written from right to left and and it's interesting because it's used as early as as Genesis very very early in chapter two verse 7 the bible says in the Lord God for men of the Dust of the ground and breathe into his nostrils the breath of life and Man became a living soul now I just want to point this out the gift of the King James in front of you is that all caps Lord lets you know that's the Covenant name of God now why is that important brother Killmon because when you look at Lord God it's Yahweh Elohim in the Hebrew when you speak of God as Elohim you're talking about God most powerful God the Creator okay I'll give you a way that I hope I can mess with your Bible reading hope I can mess with your personal devotion what that would mean is something like this when you look at Genesis chapter one Genesis chapter 1 speaks of God every time as Elohim God most powerful God that can create and by the way aren't you glad that if God doesn't have what he needs in your life he can create stuff I'll try not to get sidetracked Jesus help me but by the time you get to Genesis chapter 2 when God begins to talk about after the first four verse verses or so it goes from Elohim to Yahweh Elohim why because he begins to talk about Humanity embracing their do their duty is image bearers to take up what God wants them to do as his vice Regents I want you to shape all of creation I want you to go forward and exercise Dominion you're not under the kingdom of the enemy you're under my kingdom and I want you to shape it in my image and when he begins to talk about his commissioning and what he wants to do in and through their life it's no longer just Elohim it's Yahweh Elohim because it's the god of Covenant that's personally involved in your process and sister Aubry what that means is God's saying if you're about what I want to be about then we have a personal relationship can I just help you if you're doing God's business you're not on your own you have a God that's going to walk with you through all of the stuff of life that means Heaven's invested in some things he's not invested in other things and I looked in the back of the book as the old-timer said and we win so don't worry too much about processes just stay where the Lord's planted you and watch him but why because he's invested because you're his name-called people turn to your neighbor say are you name called I Pray by the end of this lesson the day if you've not been baptized in Jesus name maybe you'll go ahead and take a step of faith but Brother Martin what's fascinating to me is when the enemy comes and begin to ten Thief about the issue of God and the restrictions and any what he tried to do is make God all-powerful and remote in a lawgiver and remove the dynamic of relationship that's why when you see Satan he goes back to Elohim not Yahweh Elohim why because scripture is tipping you off about the Dynamics of how you should relate to God and and sometimes you need to understand he's powerful but sometimes you have to understand he's a god of relationship so that's why this is important understanding that this is about the God of relationship now what's interesting is now I have some wonderful I went to a seminary I didn't go to conservative Seminary at all I went to a very liberal place and I always make fun of my liberal friends because well they it's not long before they're in trouble because there's a God who watches over his word and and they will say things like well you know the name of God yodehave in the Hebrew brother Stacy that was invented so many years ago by people there wasn't really a Moses things were woven together over time and there wasn't even really a Moses well all that's been proven Wrong by because of the Ebla tablets was the thousand years before Moses they would say well Moses couldn't have written the pentateuch because you know he was a caveman he was dragging his wife around by her hair and you know saying Ugg and a whole bunch of other things and and then we get the Ebla tablets Brother Martin and it's a thousand years before Moses and there's a written language oh look at that and so we have really really early references so archeology shows this name as ancient and the biblical record shows this name is ancient as well so we know that it's ancient now what does that mean since it's been in the word of God from the beginning the the Praises in the Hebrew turn to your neighbor say it's just Hebrew it's like Yahweh now now I bring that up because if you if you have like I do I have a a extensive collection of Bibles I love Bibles I'll study Bibles for different topics and different things like that brother martin but if you have a really old classic like King James with the footnotes over on the side the commentary notes they will show you that in Genesis chapter 4 and verse 26 you can see that they have a note over on the side that this is a Hebrew idiom the kroba shim Yahweh and it's translated to call on the name of the Lord that's the literal rendition of that phrase but next to it they put idiom not not trying to say not idiot not a Hebrew idiot not the person like you we're in the dorms with no I'm just kidding I always tease the ibc students with that kind of joke keep them on their toes Sister Martin but what is an idiom idiom is a manner of speech so for instance my mom is from Tennessee and Mama Kelvin believed in the right of Correction and when she would say something like this I will smack the taste out of your mouth because not only there's a little bad Bobby running around back there Brother Martin and so she was that boy I will Tan Your Hide and I I you know some of that I didn't even know because I grew up in Indianapolis I wasn't in Tennessee mom was in Tennessee but I knew what she meant I didn't understand what the words went but I knew what she meant so that an idiom is a manner of speech in which you can say one thing and intend something deeper so that's exactly what's going on here it says to call on the name of the Lord literally the technical Hebrew idiom means to pronounce the name of the Lord over an individual or group to be called by the name of the Lord okay now let me prove that to you so in in Genesis chapter 4 verse 26 the Bible reads and to Seth and to him also there was born a son he called his name Enos then begin men to call on the name of the Lord now why point that out because there's two types of lines that are developing in Israel's history or in world history rather it is The Godly line of Seth and the ungodly line of King there are those that are called by the name of the Lord and those that are not called by the name of the Lord there are those that have the name of God called over them in Covenant and there are those that don't have the name of God called over there in Covenant and the two type of Lifestyles and the way that they shape the world it's vastly different all right so I'll give you another one in Exodus chapter 34 verses 5-7 the Bible speaks of Moses and the Lord everybody say all caps that's the Covenant name the Lord descended in a cloud and stood with him there and what look look Yahweh proclaim the name of the Lord and the Lord passed before him and proclaim the Lord the Lord God see there it is calling the name of God over Moses why did God do that because he says I'm going to you're going to understand in Numbers Chapter 6 that this is the way you get the blessing you ready you you can't have some things until you enter into a proper relationship with God you can't play around with Jesus name baptism use only one way to God you got one Lord One Faith one baptism not multiple baptisms if you want the blessings of God you got to come by the way of invoking the Covenant name of God over you proclaim the name of the Lord the Lord passed by before him and proclaim the Lord the Lord merciful and gracious long-suffering and abundant in goodness and Truth keeping Mercy for the thousands how many of you want that forgiving iniquity and transgression now what I'm pointing out is this happened to Moses as a representative of Israel and so that's linked to their forgiveness and and they understood that they were a covenant people because they were a name called people right now I'll I'll prove that in just a moment okay turn to your neighbor say he's going to try let me give you another one Amos chapter nine now what you have to understand is this was shocking to Jewish people because Amos begins to take up a prophecy and begins to speak of not just Israel but of the Gentiles the Bible says in that day will I Rise Up The Tabernacle of David I wish we had time to deal with that that is wrong but we don't have time go look up that up it's a fun little study and close up the breaches thereof and I will raise up his ruins and I will build it as in the days of old that they may possess the remnant of Edom and all of the heathen which are called by my name now why is that interesting because the the Hebrew word for Heathen is going like if I say to you the the Hebrew word for Holy is kadosh and if I say kadosh kodeshim what do I mean because emad's emphasis right not plurality it adds not of number it adds emphasis so if I say cadosh is Holy and I say kadosh kodeshim what Old Testament thing am I thinking of the holy of holies you could translate it literally the most holy place right so it's the holy of holies it's a way of adding emphasis so not only are we heathen it's gleam it's Heathen to the most so I had a mentor of mine point this out to me in Bible College and and he said that you'll see these bumper stickers and sure enough for the hands and I'm driving up on the North side of Indianapolis by Bethel zadek Rabbi Sasso synagogue up there pharisaic synagogue too which is interesting and we're up there and I've met him before and went to their synagogue and for a class I had to do in seminary and brother we're up there looking around and sure enough he was right the Jewish people have this nice little Insider humor on the back of their bumpers every once in a while you'll catch going annoying which means all of you Heathen to the most annoy me to the most and I'm like beeping my horn out of hey you know now why is that important to mention because for the Jewish sensibility this is staggering we okay all right all right all right after the day of Pentecost yes yes yes yes and maybe even those Samaritans you know that corrupted their bloodlines and not that's not even the biggest issue they corrupted their theology okay maybe even them but what are you doing down at this Gentiles house you mean they're going to be called by the that's what this prophecy is about that there is a gentile group that are going to be called insiders and not Outsiders and they're going to have the name of God called over them I'm going to tell you you got to understand what you do when somebody goes down in the watery grave in Jesus name is something different it's not hurry and get them baptized so that they can get filled with the spirit it means something particular all right now let me see if I can I can build it what did it mean brother Kevin let's look at three at least three man we could do a lot about a lot but I'll I'll just for sake of time what did it mean to invoke her to call the name of the Lord over people places and things in the Old Testament so we're going to look at three aspects or three ways that functioned and what it brought you into I'm trying to go fast enough but not too fast because I don't want to Tim LaHaye I don't want to leave you behind Hallelujah was the series I'm sorry I want to go I want to go slow enough for you to get it what I want you to do is understand that there there are things that you can only get through Jesus name baptism right all right now what did that mean brother Killmon well first of all was ownership in the Old Testament when something was called by someone's name it was to own it I'll give you just two examples there's a multitude we can point out in Scripture so to name something was to own it so for instance in you can see there in second Samuel chapter 16 through 31 joab David's General is about to take a city and and it's about to become his in terms of military possession and he says David you got to hurry you got to come why lest it be called by my name because to conquer something to own something was to name it and that's why you can see in second Samuel chapter 5 verse 17 it's called not the city of waters or the stronghold of Zion any longer it becomes the city of David why because it belongs to David right so it means ownership so not only does it mean the ownership of things let me give you some other examples back one until me Exodus 19 and 20.

We've already read that where God calls his name over Israel it's important for him to call his name over Israel why because in that act they become his possession we don't have time to deal with this in detail but you can look up a mendenhall's great little Booker Klein's great little book suzerainty treaties now what does that what does that mean brother killman suzerain just means High King it means that there's a high king that's over a bunch of other kings kind of like the king of kings imagine that or the Lord of oh imagine that and so what God is doing is he's speaking brother Hepburn in a way that Israel would understand I'm going to enter into a legal contract as it were with you why so that you can understand the type of thing that you're swearing like you don't it's where we get our it's where we get our notion of marriage if you come down to an altar and you swear some stuff at an altar you know what you're getting into you know we make fun of people forgive me for this I'm so sorry for this I can't think of another illustration in my head at the moment for the murder this is killman k-i-l-l-m-o-n don't put this on brother martin but it's like we make fun of people like there are certain country songs that make fun of people waking up married to a waitress and I don't even know her name why because you got into an arrangement that you didn't understand because perhaps you were inebriated see that's not what God's going to do he's never going to trick you and I want to help you that's why you can't trick people at an altar you got to talk about repentance first because if they don't swear covenantal loyalty to the high king that's why sometimes you got to teach them to speak in tongues instead of them being filled with the spirit not because God's not willing to fill people with the spirit because you ready they don't know what kind of relationship they're getting into he that cometh the God must believe that he is you got to know the kind of relationship that you're getting into and then when they understand what repentance and baptism is the spirit can come now I'll prove it to you now what was that suzerainty treaty it's where they pledge loyalty I wish we had time to deal like a half hour on Covenant right here but I have to leave it to Brother Martin maybe he can teach you Brother Martin Covenant is the greatest idea in the Bible it's my in my view if I understand the Bible correctly it's the most important idea in the scripture now why Covenant because it's an agreement that God makes with us free will creatures we can enter into it but you got to understand what a covenant is so for instance these High Kings would say you have an enemy invading you that you're not strong enough to deal with how many say that was sin in my life right there and the imagery is this the high King you would make an appeal I Sister Martin I I can't handle the enemy that's coming against me or against my nation so could you come help me the high King says yes I'll come but only if you pledge yourself as a vassal to me now if you want to say you want to be in a relationship with me but you don't want to abide by the rules of the Covenant then I'm not interested in coming and fighting for you because you're going to join yourself again to alliances that are going to lead you back into the same type of bondage that's why Jesus says in the New Testament why do you call me Lord Lord and what do not that you don't do The Obedience you don't do the things of Covenant why because you don't want the Lord you just want me to get you out of trouble but God doesn't come that way but if you were pledged loyalty that's why he says no man can serve two masters why brother Heaven because at the end of the day you either serve God or you serve men and you can't serve both why because covenantal loyalty says you have to agree to one I'll prove it to you how many of you ladies anybody married in the room yeah I knew there were a Sally how many of you ladies would say if if he came to me and and proposed to me that day and say I want to I want to be married to you but I want to date other girls on the weekend how many of you ladies like hey I gotta work from the Lord no why because Covenant is between two people exclusively no man can serve two masters that's why James says friendship with the world is enmity you've been the enemy of God why because you're trying to serve two things your your your victory's divided because your loyalty is divided and so that High King said I don't mean man we don't have time to deal with that Jesus help me but you pledge loyalty that's what the Ten Commandments are they're styled after the type of Covenant that they would make in the Old Testament ancient near Eastern treaties and and in that act brother Hepburn they become his people in the pledging of loyalty then you become his so when you go up and you repent die and you say I want his name called Over Me In baptism you're saying I want to pledge my loyalty to the king and that's why then you can receive from what you can't get from any other place any other Victory what you could not do yourself he will do for you why because you are in a unique relationship with him you're in a relationship with him nobody else in the earth is there are insiders and Outsiders there are people called by his name and people who do not have that privilege God obligates himself creator of the universe obligates himself why because he's swearing loyalty with you as you swear with him okay now I'll try to hurry so let's look at what he does he calls it over sacred places so what does that mean we went too fast that's me over sacred places let's look at this very quickly Deuteronomy chapter 12 verse 5 and verse 11. This is about God talking about the Tabernacle becoming his but unto the place which the Lord Yahweh your Elohim if you want the god of power you got to be in the relationship with him shall choose he shall choose out of all of your tribes to what put his name there even unto this habitation shall you seek and thither shall you come then it says in verse 11 then shall there be a place which Elohim the Lord your God shall choose to cause his name to dwell there consider shall you bring all that I command you you burn offerings your sacrifices ties he offerings all your choice vows you bring them which you bow into the Lord that means if you don't bring them there the place called by his name the place where you're in that unique relationship your your worship is useless all due respect to my wonderful friends I'm not saying there's heroes brother martin but I have a lot of friends I'm trying to win to the Lord from the world paganism and from the world religious and I'm telling I'm not saying that they're zeros they have a walk with the Lord they love Jesus at some level but they need more why because everything you do in terms of worship is incomplete until you enter the kingdom by being baptized in the only saving name and I'm not no no listen I'm trying to be mean-spirited today but I'm telling you there's going to be something different when you are when you enter into that relationship the way that God prescribes because in all of heaven will be on your side not only did it mean so it turned your neighbor say ownership second thing it meant in the Old Testament was Redemption Exodus chapter 20 verse 2 the Bible says I am the Lord thy God Elohim which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt and out of the house of bondage and that pronouncement of the name over Moses is linked with his Redemption from Israel and and we're going to tie that into the next one because well what does it mean that he is a redeemer if you had somebody coming in attacking you and you appealed to the high King this is what would happen the high king would come in and fight for you why because he's obligated himself to you and his reputation that's why he's going to do some things he's making me to lie down in Green Pastures he I'm sure there's some things he does for his name's sake why because his reputation's at stake man okay now let me just you every once in a while you just need to take a little pause on your drama remember what the the preacher already said today and say look God attached his reputation to my name Isaiah said it you go look it up yourself Isaiah said Lord I know we've had all these issues and we've had backslidings we've had struggles we had problems being conformed to your image and to your likeness and and okay all right I get that but he says God the Heathen don't have your name on them what is he saying the only way for you to get glory in the earth God is through your name called people and I understand don't take yourself too seriously it's just about his name it's about his glory Not Your Glory not my glory but he can't get Glory any other way except through his name called people so we ought to be Embrace who we are as people of the name all right last one the Lord's presence oh did I do that oh help me Jesus okay all right Psalm 106 why not Psalm 106 you go look this up on your own time someone who's six I'll point out some things hopefully I can make some of you want to learn a little Hebrew or something praji everybody say ye now that's plural the King James translators put that in there so that you know that that's plural he is different than you you can be knewer you we don't know ye is plural that's why thou every time you read thou in the King James translation that's an argument for the Oneness of God go look up the Hebrew or go look up at the Greek and you'll see every time it's singular which is fascinating but I'll leave that inside praise ye the Lord now that's the Covenant name right all of you praise the god of Covenant that's what the psalmist is saying oh give thanks unto the Lord the god of Covenant because he is good Toth that's a like in Genesis chapter one God created and it was good Tov and by the end of it it gets the whole Tales praise ye the god of Covenant why because the same God that that is the god of Covenant is the same God of creation and he's saying that that powerful God who brings about the good that he designs into your life for his mercy endureth forever now what does that mean his Mercy that's about as close as we can get to an English equivalent it's his loving Mercy it's his Tender Mercies it's that Insider language you're in a relationship with him why because you're in a covenant with him like I love every one of you here but there's a there's a boy who's doing an internship in California if he calls me today I'm going to bankrupt myself for why because that boy is in a relationship with me that you're not in a relationship with me he's called by my name and listen you're not going to bankrupt heaven with your problems I'll try not to okay for his mercy endureth forever what does that mean brother killman means into eternity there's only two ages in the Hebrew Consciousness this age and the age of Eternity that age that is to come what what the psalmist is saying and the whole understanding of the history of Israel is is that there is a God that you're in relationship with that is good that can create towards his goodness and get you into eternity saved that's the god you serve that's the god that you're called by his name he has the power to redeem and to redeem ultimately maybe we'll talk about that a little later this week all right and then lastly the Lord's presence turn to your neighbors say thank you thank you Jesus God promised that he would be present where his name was evoked now what does that mean brother Killmon I'll give an example Exodus 3 14. He tells Moses who should I say send me he said tell them that I yeah I am that I am sent you now that's about his closest and again Hebrews tough getting into English they call English a barbarian language because you can do more with Hebrew and Greek and I was just here to talk about that too much but when he said I am that I am that's about as close as we can get we can look look at the Hebrew a little bit do a little word study there on that phrase and you'll you'll you'll see that it is I am that I am but it's also I will be that I am I am that I will be what what does that mean brother killman it means that God is saying if I've ever been who I am I will always be who I am if I've ever been a Waymaker I will always be a Waymaker he is the same yesterday today and forever what he's saying to them is I understand that you have issues as being my people in Egypt but you ready the god that's on your side if I've ever done anything in your history brother Hanson I'm the same God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob don't be intimidated by your past that whole lot of history is a testimony for your presence so you know what I can do so Moses begins to go talk to them and then what God does is he does these what we can confuse this neat little parlor tricks but they're not they're not like just demonstration to power he said I will Smite Egypt with my wonders he will do no less in this generation I teach and preach to a lot of young people and I love it I I love my job I can't believe they paid me to do it brother martin but what you have to get people to understand that there's no Spirit no issue in our age that God won't do the same thing that he did for Moses he's the same yesterday today and forever I don't care what news coming down the pike towards this generation you can always say he's the same yesterday today and forever if he's ever made a way he will always make a way if he smote Egypt with his wonders he's going to do the same thing to every opposition to the church today so God begins to do it he shows him he he puts plagues on cattle now why do that because Apis the cow God of Egypt was supposed to be reincarnated every year in Egypt that he was supposed to protect their cattle so what do you got a bunch of sick Gods running around I I'll give you another example there was a the plague of boils what was that about brother Killmon well you could pick up Thomas holcrop's great little book on the pentateuch and he lays it out beautifully he says in in Memphis not Tennessee Egypt but Memphis there was a over a hundred temples here Brother Martin and and you couldn't go in as a priest and offer sacrifice or do anything in Ministry of the Gods with a blemish on your skin so there's Moses you know coming in and and just let's just say we're two Egyptians we're walking down the road we happen to go by and we're down in the worship center of a hundred plus temples in Memphis and every single door is closed for operation why because God is demonstrating to his people I am they're not he's demonstrating to the Egyptians I am your gods are not he's demonstrating to Future Generations I am they are not he's waiting for Rahab to make the confession about the Canaanites we already know that your God is and they're not because we've seen what he's already done in Egypt I'm just going to tell you God says I'm going to demonstrate with my presence that I can come down and do what no other God can do and when you get the name of Jesus called Over You in baptism you're going to find a freedom and a power and an understanding and a newness of life you can't get any other way that's why now there I'll I have to do a little apologetic here Because unless we do something the plagues in Egypt there it is with my name comes my presence with my name comes my power with my name comes my deliverance and that's a demonstration now now what does that mean now you have to be careful because we can do weird things sometimes in our head and and we can think well if I just call on the name of the Lord I can get that and and I can do whatever I want no God was very clear in the Old Testament the prophets of Baal thought that they could chant the name of God remember when they did that at The Showdown at Mount Carmel 400 prophets of bailed 450 profits of the Grove and there's don't reduce Elijah's struggle 850. Just a side note and and there there he is but you're ready at the end of the day they're they're going to conjure bail why because they thought if I call on the secret name of the god he has to act no that's not God you're not going to conjure God we're not sorcerers or Jedi Knights for Jesus I'm tapping into the forest no we have something much more powerful than that I wish I had time Jesus but the prophets try to conquer Baal conjure bail but the Lord will not be conjured Brother Martin he says something particular in the book of Exodus it's worth our looking at he says now therefore if ye will obey my voice indeed that's why the devil's after your obedience that's why the tip of the spirit in your life is your obedience because if he can get your obedience that's when you lose now therefore if you will obey my voice indeed and keep my Covenant then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people for all of the earth is mine God's saying I'm in charge of everything anyway he said to the children of Israel's they swore Covenant I I what are the Covenant Witnesses you're going to bring into the room now what's fascinating to me is every every guest that you invite to your wedding is actually there to keep you accountable to your vows you know that right because they're the Covenant Witnesses they're supposed to walk up and bro you ain't treating your wife right what's going on bro you swore some stuff I was there you asked me to be there I just wanted the gift I didn't no that's not he says look he says I bring to you Heaven and Earth to witness against you this day what is he saying when you obey all of Heaven is on your side all of Heaven and Earth is on your side and the problems are there to form you not Crush you but if you disobey all of Heaven and Earth will be against you it's like the laws of gravity you ignore them at your peril that's why cooperation with God is powerful because when you obey that's when you can call or the name of the Lord not like I want a Mercedes-Benz out there Jesus in the name of the Lord no it's about saying God I'm here doing your will I'm your name called child you see my struggle help me Lord and then the Lord can begin to do what only he can do in the context of that obedience all right now I'll try to hurry you guys got a little more time the Bible says now it's fascinating to me there's a layers in scripture that's why I pray that you don't get impatient in your Bible reading I hope that instead of just reading devotion devotionally devotionally you will actually learn to study the word of God don't make it a check box go looking for God to speak to you so you can understand him and his will and his purpose for your life I know you do that so in Genesis 4 26 there's this contrast like I said people called by the name of the Lord and then the Bible says Cain leaving the presence of the Lord how in the world can you leave the presence of an omnipresent God and the psalmist says if I make my bed in hell behold Thou Art there so that's God's omnipresence but the Bible also talks about the ability for us to leave the presence of the Lord why because God can talk about his presence in multiple ways so you can be in the general presence of God but this is something particular where two or three are gathered together in my there's a promise of Covenant presence that you don't have any other place why because Cain left the presence of the Lord because he chose to leave Covenant that's why we don't we don't want to forsake the name of the Lord why because when we forsake our obedience to God that's when we leave the place where his the the the panin The Shining face of God that moment of approval that's why when Adam and Eve did it what are they doing they're hiding in the weeds they're they're creating little coverings themselves because their conscience is Afflicted because they have crossed their relationship with God that's why the wicked run will flee when no man pursues but the righteous the obedient are as bold as a lion well brother Killmon are you saying I have to be perfect let me help you with your definition of perfection Perfection is simply I have nothing left to repent of it's because it's in the struggling and the striving that we're accounted righteous we're being conformed to miss from for from into his image from glory to glory we're growing more and more like him but you ready if I'm walking with him today and I'm like God I want to walk with you I want to do your will I want to fulfill your purpose that presence of God is with me to help me overcome every one of my issues why because he promised he would right that's why and I'll I'll hit these really quickly I think you get the picture that's why in Deuteronomy chapter 5 verse 11 it says Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain means empty you shouldn't make it empty to say you're the name called people now forgive me if you stub your toe and you say oh Jesus and somebody gets on you be respectful but that's not what this verse is about in my view my understanding of this is where people would say I want to be called by your name but Isaiah prophesied of a terrible time where Six Women will lay hold on one man say we'll eat our own drink we'll wear our own apparel you know I don't want anything to do with Holiness but let us be called by your name to take away our approach nope God's not into that kind of business but if you want to surrender your life to God and let him bring Victory into your life in every aspect of your life and bless your life with things that you maybe not even understand yet at the depth of what that Holiness is going to do to protect your life and protect your marriage and protect your mind you ready if you just Embrace his lordship then he can say I can get blessing into your life I am for that and he says before the Lord will not hold him Guiltless that taketh his name in vain look at Romans 2 24. Paul speaking to his own people he says the Jewish people for the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you all the Jewish people went but what were they doing they were saying they were the name called people and living in ways that defame the name of God how many have ever had somebody at work and they're like say they're Christian you're like please stop no it only happens in Indiana I'm sure never in Oklahoma second Timothy chapter 2 verse 19 nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure how does it stand sure having this seal the Lord knoweth them that are his they belong to him and let every one of them that everyone that nameth the name of Christ what apart from iniquity your obedience is the issue because then you're in the position to let God glorify his name in your life now I am really closing this time false close number three brother well he did like I don't know about four times last night so I figured I can get away with it at the end of the Old Testament people quit saying the name of the Lord we don't have time to deal with the sons of say Dr zadakite priest line that got very corrupted with Greek the Greek Empire and later the Roman Empire and they stopped saying the name of the Lord what it turned into Political manipulation I won't deal with that today but they stopped saying the name of the Lord in hopes that brother Shotwell they could not take the name of the Lord in vain they didn't want to treat it cavalierly and what it did is it became secret that only the priest could use it was a manipulation there were prophets all over the place saying the name of the Lord so now what does that mean brother killman well let me let me paint the picture first in the New Testament in the New Testament the name of Jesus is the guarantee of you being a New Covenant with God in a new agreement the name of Jesus is the means that makes you a partner with God now I'll just point this out in case you didn't know the name of Jesus means Yahweh has become my salvation it's the same name of God in the Old Testament it just adds the cause he has become our Salvation it's invoked and called we don't have time to deal with acts you need to be able to do this as an Apostolic okay I'm going to help you with your Bible study Acts 2 acts 8 acts 10 acts 19. You can add acts 22 why because all of those deal with Jesus name baptism you should be able to tell people like it's called over people in baptism in the New Testament as a matter of fact in James chapter 2 verse 7 I had a mentor of mine in Bible College that went to a particular meeting I'll try to be careful how I'm saying that and he had a wonderful trinitarian friend that went with him Brother Martin and he says when James says in James 2 7 do not they blaspheme that worthy Name by which ye are called he said that that literally means the name called over in baptism that's about Jesus name baptism and he said oh that's a terrible argument he said well what translation do you have because he had the King James he said I have the I have the the oh what is it the New Jerusalem bible basically a Hebrew background Bible he popped it open and it says do not they blaspheme that worthy name called Over You toast the Greek word is epicaleo turn your neighbor say it's just Greek Epi means upon like epidermis your skin you know you ever do that to kids in kindergarten your epidermis is showing that's a bad that's so sorry pray for me but it's like Epi is upon and Kaleo like all and it's literally don't they blaspheme that worthy name upon called you it's a transliteration of the Hebrew phrase right in the Greek it's the same so when Paul says whosoever calleth on the name of the lord it's the same exact Hebrew idiom translated into Greek if you don't believe me go please be Berean don't believe me always check me by the word of God there's a a a great book by Lars Hartman a classic work called baptism into the name Jesus brother hence in that that book is fascinating because he says that phrase baptism into the name of Jesus there's no Greek equivalent no it's Hebrew and it's carried right over transliterated which means they just take the Hebrew phrase put it in Greek words and there's nothing like it in Greek literature why because God wants you to know the same way they got in Covenant in the Old Testament it's the same way you get in Covenant in the New Testament let me see if I can hurry what is the name of Jesus mean brother killman and I'll race a little bit first of all it means ownership that the residue of men the Apostle says might seek the Lord and all the Gentiles he picks up the passage in Amos it says upon whom my name is called we were Gentiles we were without the promises of God Paul says we who were not a people has he made a people how are you made of people he came and died he shed his blood so that that name could graft you into the body that you could be a covenant person why in the world wouldn't you say to your pastor today's the day I want to be baptized in the name of Jesus if that's pledging loyalty to The God Who died to save me to save me from my enemies I'm not strong enough to deal take me to the Waters of baptism so that I can have that name called Over Me I want to belong to him ownership more than that Redemption First Corinthians chapter 6 verse 11.

The Apostle Paul deals with all this Litany of sin you look at it and it says in such were some of you but ye are washed but ye are Sanctified but ye plural by the way if you how many of you want to be washed Sanctified and Justified that's a ye brother Henson that means everybody the only way to be washed Sanctified and Justified is in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the spirit of our God it's the same water and spirit baptism of John 3. It's what Jesus said that's the guarantee and then lastly the Lord's presence John 1 14 the word was made flesh and dwelt Among Us shall have a son call his name Jesus he shall save his people from himself I wish we had time to go through all the New Testament scriptures all I want you to see is Redemption is tied to the name of Jesus his presence his Redemption right there First Peter chapter 2. That's one of my favorite verses in the scripture which in times past were not a people but now the people of God which had not obtained Mercy the how did we obtain Mercy by the killman by baptism in Jesus name so what does it mean to call on the name of the Lord it means to be called by the name of the Lord that's why in John 14 14 Jesus says if you shall ask anything in my name I will do it now that's all lordship language doesn't mean that you get the command whatever you want Jesus said the son can do nothing of himself you're in your flesh you're not smart enough or wise enough to direct your future he said the son and he says the father in me doth the works so only as the spirit of God guides us can we do anything profitable but the beauty is he says if you shall ask anything in my name under that type of lordship and direction I will do it why because it'll be according to my will staying with me today First Peter chapter 2 verse 9 and 10 but ye are a chosen generation a royal peace priesthood a holy nation a peculiar people that doesn't mean weird good Apostolic although turn to your neighbors say you're pretty weird I just cause so much problems for marriages I'm so sorry I Repent I repent what is what is peculiar people it's the praise comes from this concept in the Old Testament it's like the little Maid of my eye I wish we had time to deal with it in detail we'd say something in English you call it the apple of my eye now what does that mean I mean so back when I was you know or we're going to be celebrating where you at baby doll 25 years at some point wherever you're at I love you and Brother Martin when we got married we were at the ceremony you sure babe kiss your bride and when I get when I get close to my wife there comes a time where you have such intimacy that you can see your reflection in their eye and that's what God is saying you are my name called people and there's no one else closer to me in the whole earth I just want you to think about that for a while would you close your eyes for me in just a moment you wonderful privileged people that are called by the name of the Lord you are in a place that no one else God has sworn a relationship with you like no one else brother Killmon does that mean I get the command it no no under his lordship but you can just here's what I invite you to do if you have a need today would you lift it up to this great glorious God that we know and we love whose name is above every name Lord we praise you for the revelation of Who You Are we praise you for the revelation of your name that you promised Lord that somebody would let that name be called over you would take us you would own us you would redeem us Lord every good gift comes down from the Father of Lights in whom there is no variableness or shadow of turning every every good thing in our life came from you Lord Jesus then you promise that your presence would be with us even as the good preachers already said today yea though I walk to the Valley of the shadow of death I'll fear no evil Lord because thou thou thou singular God thank you for your presence and your goodness we owe everything to you Lord and that great name that you earned on Calvary why don't we lift our hands and thank the Lord for that name aren't you glad you've been buried in that name thank you Lord for your name the name that is above every name Jesus thank you Lord that we can call on that name thank you Lord that we can be baptized in Your Name Lord I thank you for that name Jesus thank you Jesus thank you Jesus praise God
