Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

Staying in the Vein: The Operation of the Gifts of the Spirit

  • The service stays in the vein it is already in rather than moving on; guests are told this is how their services can tend to go, because they believe it is apostolic to follow the leading and direction of the Holy Ghost.
  • What was just heard from those vessels is clearly stated in 1 Corinthians 12 and 14: the operation of the gifts of the Spirit — the Lord often wants to break in.
  • The glory of God could already be felt in the sanctuary that morning; the Lord had been there since before the speaker arrived.

Scriptures: 1 Corinthians 12; 1 Corinthians 14

Facing Something You Call Impossible

  • The speaker addresses anyone facing something they have described, or thought of, as impossible — no way out, no way through, feeling stuck with it as their lot in life.
  • He believes the Lord has paused and directed this service to help that person.

A Family's Testimony: 'That Young Man Is Completely Normal'

  • His brother Brian and sister-in-law Michelle are called forward; their family has faced one impossibility after the next.
  • Michelle survived an aneurysm after the hospital gave her a 13% chance; the other 87% said she would not be standing there, yet she stands with breath in her lungs.
  • Their young son's tests pointed to a very good chance of living with severe seizure symptoms — no riding bikes, no swimming pools, nothing where a seizure could end his life.
  • Michelle, herself in the medical profession, said she did not believe the prognosis and looked to the great Physician; this church family prayed again and again, and the parents held on to faith — shell-shocked, but not in despair.
  • Each night the parents taught their son to thank the Lord for his healing; the second test result came back completely normal — no brain abnormalities, no seizure condition — and the nurse on the phone agreed: yes, it is a miracle.

Exceedingly Abundantly: The Altar Call for the Impossible

  • Brother Brett had prayed the scripture from Ephesians chapter 3, Paul's celebratory praise after praying for the church: God will do exceedingly abundantly above all that we could ask or think, according to the power that works in us — and that power is in the room right now.
  • There is no impossibility when it comes to your need and your God: He may heal right now in this moment, or carry you until He does.
  • The invitation is not contained to any category — healing, family needs, relationships that seem beyond mending, breaking free of addiction, mental ailments battled for years.
  • Those not facing an impossibility are urged to come alongside someone who is, bearing their burden and so fulfilling the law of Christ, so no one stands at the altar alone in the middle of their impossibility.

Scriptures: Ephesians 3

Bring It Again: A Father's Prayer and Persistent Faith

  • Brian shares the prayer he prayed on a Wednesday night before the MRI, while the family was still in a holding pattern with the prognosis: he laid his child at the Lord's feet — dedicated, belonging to God, fearfully and wonderfully made — willing to walk through it if God chose, yet believing God able to perform the miraculous.
  • The Lord touched the child that night and gave the family strength; sometimes it is just a little more strength to make it to the next service, and the Lord has that for somebody today.
  • From the parable of the unrighteous judge, whose widow's continual coming moved even a man who neither feared God nor regarded people: you are not annoying the Master by coming again — He said, 'Come to the throne,' neither apologizing nor arrogant.
  • Longstanding needs are to be brought before the God of all grace again: prodigals and family relationships torn for decades, needs battled for years — bring them again.

Leaving with Lifted Heads

  • The congregation lingers in worship, singing in the presence of Jehovah and seeking after the closeness of God.
  • The Psalmist says He is the lifter of our heads; the hope and prayer is that anyone who came in with their head down in discouragement leaves with eyes wide open, beholding the King of Kings.
  • Guests are welcomed: to be Pentecostal means to be people of the Spirit, following the Spirit of God wherever He leads.

Scriptures: Psalms (book-only, as spoken)

Scripture index: 1 Corinthians 12; 1 Corinthians 14; Ephesians 3; Psalms (book-only, as spoken).

We're going to stay in this vein. If you're a guest with us today, this is how our services can tend to go. We believe that it's apostolic. We believe that the apostles would follow the leading and direction of the Holy Ghost. And what you just heard from those vessels is clearly stated in 1 Corinthians 12 and 14, the operation of the gifts of the spirit. Because the Lord often wants to break in. And he's been here since before I got here this morning. I think by the time Mifflin beat me, he was probably here before brother Tom got here.

And when I walked in the sanctuary, I could feel the glory of God. I want to I want to talk to somebody facing something that maybe you have described or you thought was impossible. I'm facing this thing and it is impossible. Maybe you used a synonym of that word. Nothing can be done about it. There's no way out. There's no way through. If your situation is has any similarity to that and you just feel stuck and this is my lot in life, I feel like the Lord has paused this service and indeed has directed this service to help you.

I want to ask my my brother and my sister-in-law if you all just come real quick. Brian and Michelle, I got to celebrate some of this this last Wednesday, but I didn't get to tell the full story, and I won't be able to tell all the details right now, but yeah, come on up here if y'all don't mind. You can thank me later. You'll have to excuse me. This one hits close to home because this family's faced one impossibility after the next. I remember being in the Mercy Hospital standing next to my brother and them saying, "She's got a 13% chance." And I remember my brother's face turning looking at me.

had aneurysm. 13% chance. And here she is. You're dealing with something impossible. Just just recognize the breath in her lungs. 87% chance it wouldn't be there. You could say, "Well, they didn't say 100." No, they didn't. But here she stands. And then Mr. [name redacted], Mr. [name redacted], he's he's full of life. He's he's broken out of the nursery a couple times. He's probably He's probably running around here somewhere right now. Twice. Okay. Twice. I'm He's having issues, seizures, don't know what's going on. They get an EEG.

doctor says it's a really good chance. Here's the that verbiage and it's not the doctor's fault. They're just telling you the reality as it looks. There's a very good chance he's going to live his life with severe seizure symptoms. What that means on the dayto-day is no riding bikes, no being in swimming pools, no doing anything that at any point he could have a seizure and his life could end. This is where you're at. They called me Monday afternoon. I was outside of Tucker. Good place for a phone call.

You could hear the concern in their voice. But I told Michelle, you could hear faith. She's been in the medical profession. She's faced situations like this. She told me, "I don't believe this." Not nothing against the doctor. I'm not talking about being unwise. I'm just talking about looking to the great physician. Lord, I see it. I And I'm not just talking about medical, right? I'm talking about I see the balance statement. Oh, God. I've done everything I can do. I I've seen what THE DOCTORS SAY ABOUT MY addiction and I've dealt with it for so long and I I can see on paper how long it's been.

I can see the statistics. I can see the the law of averages. I I know the probabilities. They took him back. Prayer was made. This church family prayed again and again and again. Mom and dad held on to faith. They did not despair. They were shell shocked a little bit, but they were not in despair. They just trusted in God. And Michelle told me, she said, she'd take Mr. [name redacted] and they'd they'd tell [name redacted], "Okay, we want you to thank the Lord for your healing." And each night he'd say, "Thank you, Jesus.

that you're going to heal me. First test result showed abnormalities, a great chance of a long-term ailment and illness. The second test result, which we got on Tuesday, they called Michelle. They said, "That young man is completely normal. There's no brain abnormalities. There's no seizure. He's not going to live with this." MICHELLE BEGAN TO WEEP ON THE PHONE and the nurse said, "No, NO, NO, NO." SHE SAID, "THIS IS GOOD NEWS." And she said, "I know it's a miracle." AND THE NURSE, THE MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL SAID, "YES, it's a miracle for nothing.

There is no impossibility when it comes to your need and your God. Maybe you faced it for a long time. Maybe the Lord will allow you to continue to walk through it. But I believe you're going to make it. I BELIEVE GOD COULD HEAL YOU RIGHT NOW IN THIS MOMENT. I BELIEVE THE LORD COULD CARRY YOU UNTIL he does. Before we come and pray and we pray over the impossible. And I'm talking relationships. There's no way that can be meant. It's impossible. I'm talking any category.

I know we're just talking about healing, but they're all over the room. things that maybe the Lord's bringing to your mind that you thought that's impossible. I heard brother Brett praying the scripture a moment ago. Ephesians chapter 3. It's the celebratory praise of Paul after he prays for the church. It says he's going to do exceedingly abundantly above all that you could ask or think according to the power that works in us. That power is in this room right now. I feel the Lord close. He hasn't left us and he's with us.

If you've got something you just need a miracle, I we will not uh contain it to any category. If you need healing, if you need your f your family has a need, you need a miracle. If you if you're battling addiction and you need to break free, if you're battling a mental ailment that you've been battling for years, God can help you right here and now. If you just believe that the Lord can do the impossible, I wonder if you just step out of where you are right now and come to the front of this building and we're going to pray.

and we're going to pray until the Lord lets us move off of this and move to a different thing. Would you lift your hands right now if you need a miracle? And I'm going to ask brothers and sisters to come. We've got hands up here near the front. We've got hands scattered throughout right now. We've got a couple hands over in this section. If you see someone with their hand lifted, would you go and pray? And maybe right now you're not facing the impossible, but you want to stand next to someone who is Oh Lord, maybe my brother and my sister doesn't have enough faith.

Maybe they're struggling in their faith. I'm going to come alongside them with faith. I'm going to bear their burden and so fulfill the law of Christ. I'm not going to leave them at the altar by themselves. Uh but they're they're going to know in the middle of their impossibility that there's a brother and there's a sister and there's a family member that's there with them. >> >> want my brother to come. While he was facing prognosis, he had a moment with the Lord that I believe will help somebody.

The reality is that the Lord may not immediately step in. He may not immediately do the impossible. Of course, we know most of the story in this case, but when you're in the middle of that, you're processing. I want him to share his heart and mindset and prayer as he did, and I believe it's going to help somebody. So, I believe it was last Wednesday night. This was before we had the MRI, and we were kind of in a a holding pattern with the prognosis. um kind of unsure about everything.

Uh we'd been given the medication in case there was that big seizure that they had talked about. So we were on edge. Um but it was just a normal Wednesday night in the presence of the Lord. So in the presence of the Lord, anything can happen. And I know that you all believe that. So we basically crashed uh Bishop's sermon. My youngest sister said, "Hey, I'm going to go and stand in the gap for Little [name redacted] and then for [name redacted] and if you'd like to come, I'm going up front.

Just letting you know." This was just a normal Wednesday night, normal song service. So, I'm like, "What have I got to lose?" I [name redacted] was in service with us. So, I brought him down to the front and my prayer was something like this. Lord, I I lay this child at your feet. He's been dedicated. He belongs to you. He's fearfully and wonderfully made. And if you choose for me and Michelle to walk through this, we will do it. But I do believe that you're able to do a miracle and that you're able to perform the miraculous and touch these misfiring temporal loes and all this neuroscience and neurology things.

So we held on. I know the Lord touched him that night. He touched me that night and my sister and just a special touch of strength and that's all it can be sometimes is just a little bit more strength to make it to the next service. to make it to the next service. And I believe the Lord has that for somebody here today. You can feel the power and presence of the Lord so strongly in this room. He's just lingering. Brian told me that thought occurred to me that maybe there's someone in the room.

You don't have Mr. [name redacted] to present to the Lord. But you got a need and you've come so many times and you presented them here. Lord, I dedicate it to you. I give it to you. But maybe you get in a service like this and you you're hesitant. I've already done that again and again and again. Maybe you think, "Well, the Lord's tired of hearing it." No, he's not. It's the parable of the unrighteous judge where the woman kept coming and kept coming and kept coming.

And though he did not fear God nor regard man, he said, "I'm going to do what she asks, lest by her continual coming, she annoy me to death." You're not annoying the master. He said, "Come to the throne. Come and don't come like, "Lord, it's me again. I'm sorry." Also, we don't want to come arrogantly. Lord, it's me. Listen up, Lord. You said to come and here I am. I'm coming again. I'm bringing my family again. I've just felt such a burden for families. I know of some.

I don't know of all the family situations in the room. I know of some that despite the best efforts of these wonderful saints that have gone on for decades. That prodigal ripped in that relationship. Bring it again. Bring them again. Would you stand right now? And I wonder if you would just look into your heart and mind and soul and dig deep. If there's a need that you've had for quite some time and you've been battling for years, it doesn't just have to be family, would you bring it to the Lord again?

I I don't know how long this prayer time's going or this session's going. I don't know what the Lord has next for us, but I I want us just to bring those longstanding needs before the God of all grace. Would you lift your voices with me right now? You got a need that you want to bring before the master. Maybe you hesitated the first time, but oh God, there's some families in the room They need you. If you want to step out of where you are, that's all right.

We can come back. This altar is open. If you you've got a knee that you want to bring before the master like they brought [name redacted]. Oh God, you're not put off by this, Lord. You're not tired of me asking for this. We've got souls in the balance. We've got lives and families and bodies in the balance. the praise of Jehovah. God mighty, prince of me, trles, hearts. Hearts are men in the presence of the king. Just sing this together. Feeling the presence of Jehovah, God Almighty.

>> I wonder if you just let the Lord baptize you in his presence right now. Just lift your hands and seek after him until you feel >> the closeness of God. Trles hearts are men in the presence of the king. Let's just take advantage of the presence of God right now. In the presence of Jehovah, God all mighty, >> prince of peace. That sounds beautiful. Church, lift your voices. >> Trles hearts are men in the presence. >> Thank you, Jesus. of the king. >> One more time as a choir.

If you don't know the words, just lift your hands and >> give the Lord thanks. >> Praise God. Oh mighty >> prince of peace, trles, >> hearts are mened. >> >> in the presence. >> We're going to sing this one more time, but I'm going to turn my mic off and I just want the congregation to sing it out loud. Prince >> >> Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Jesus. Psalmist says he's the lifter of our heads. My hope and prayer is that if you came in today with your head down in discouragement, you're going to leave with your eyes wide open, beholding the King of Kings, that great I am that we sing about.
