Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.
The reading and the title
- The sermon opens in the reading itself: "We'll jump in at verse number one. After these things, the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision saying, 'Fear not, Abram. I am thy shield and thy exceeding great reward.'"
- Abram answers that he goes childless, and the Lord answers that one born in his house is not his heir, but he that comes forth out of his own bowels shall be his heir. In verse number six, he believed in the Lord, and it was counted to him for righteousness.
- God tells him to take a heifer of three years old, a she-goat of three years old, a ram of three years old, a turtledove, and a young pigeon; he divides them in the midst and lays each piece against another, but the birds he divides not.
- In verse 11, when the fowls came down upon the carcasses, Abraham drove them away — and in verse 18, in that same day, the Lord made a covenant with Abraham, saying, "Unto thy seed have I given this land from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates."
- Returning to verse number 11, he announces his subject: "I want to preach tonight for a few moments from this thought, battling the buzzards. Battling the buzzards." He asks the congregation to put Bibles and devices down and pray fervently and effectually, with a loud sound, for God to meet with them and move in the house.
Abraham, altars, and the first battle
- Abraham's dad was a maker of idols, he says, and a voice Abraham could not touch, an unseen voice, called this young man out of Ur of the Chaldees — and Abraham was willing to step away from friends, comfort, and family, everything he knew and was accustomed to, in devotion and commitment to follow that voice.
- Abraham was an altar builder, acquainted with building altars, and in chapter 12 and 13 and 14 he is building altars even through turmoil and separation from his nephew Lot, taking the hard way and still building altars.
- When Lot gets in trouble, this praying, altar-building, dedicated man takes 318 trained servants from his house and goes after him — the first recorded battle in the Bible, he repeats, is when a man is willing to go for his family.
- There is no battle more important than the battle for family, he says: his children mean more to him than his hurt feelings, his family more than life's offenses, his wife more than worries and anxieties — and mothers need to fight for their kids, and daddies for their boys, even if their reputation is run through the mud.
- He wants something this week to happen in families: God to touch his kids and your kids, and kids to have a Holy Ghost encounter this week — and he asks how many are willing to go to war this week for their families.
Refusing Sodom, and the promise after
- The sermon states its two commitments flat-footed: fight for families, and refuse to do business with the world — loving God, and out of that love fighting for family, and refusing the world, its look, and its ways.
- Just because Abraham left Ur of the Chaldees does not mean the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah will not see if the door is open somewhere down the road, he warns, and he says he may be broke as Job's turkey, but he is not doing business with the world — not even a shoe.
- Between the decision in chapter 15 and verse number one, the flesh wants the calculator out — what will this cost me, how will this affect me — and chapter 15 starts "after these things," after Abraham refuses to do business with the world, when God shows up and says he will be Abraham's shield and exceeding great reward.
- Abraham, in deep devotion, answers with his childlessness: he has made promises and put everything in place, dotted every I and crossed every T, and asks, "Lord God, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it?" — and the preacher says a man can believe and yet have days of unbelief, days he knows doors are about to blow open and days he beats his head against a wall asking how he will know.
- He does not have to wait until Tuesday night at the close of camp meeting, he says: right here on Saturday night, God wants to assure somebody, and he is not a man to lie.
Waiting, sacrifice in place, and the buzzards arriving
- God tells Abraham to get a three-year-old heifer, a three-year-old ram, and the birds, and this deeply devoted man, to the dotting of the I and crossing of the T, gets exactly what God said — and the preacher says he is preaching to people who have lived consecrated lives, not sloppy Christians, who have done their dead-level best to cross every T and dot every I.
- God knows every sacrifice made, he says, and the sacrifice is not going to spoil and the worship is not going to waste: every altar built, every day the plate was turned over, every prayer prayed — Abraham is waiting on God to show up and finalize the deal.
- While Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred up in him, he notes — and when the waiting comes, it is not time to be disturbed or to start worrying, but time to get stirred up, go to war, wrestle, and worship.
- Then the vultures and buzzards arrive: they are unclean, a type, and it was not one buzzard but multiple — a buzzard of bad news, of a sleepless night, of church trouble, of a doctor's report, of doubt, and of depression, buzzing over the sacrifice and over the mind, trying to defile the devotion and make a person doubt whether God called him, whether he is through with him, whether the door shut, or whether he misheard somewhere.
- The buzzards want to defy a 15-year investment, he says, and come when everything is in place and all that is needed is for God to show up — and God sent him to this Saturday night to preach to faithful people that it is time to declare battle on the buzzards, and to receive a revival in confidence: God will do it, God is going to do it, God is going to show up.
How to battle: perches, effigies, fire, noise, music
- In closing, he gives practical ways people battle buzzards, found in many places, not just one: first, remove anything a buzzard can perch on, and eliminate any perching place — prayerlessness is not a perch he will give a vulture, and neither is a bad attitude or a day let go by without prayer, whether on the mountain or in the valley, because you are not to give place to the devil.
- If you are going to stay up all night pacing the floors and punching your chest, he says, you ought to throw your hands in the air and say God is good — naked you came into this world, and naked you may return, but you will not leave a landing place for the buzzards to defile your sacrifice.
- Second, use an effigy, as ranchers do in calving season: hang a dead buzzard upside down in a tree in the calving area, and when other buzzards see one of their own already lost his life there, they will not mess with that place. The spiritual parallel is to reach back down memory lane, pull out an old miracle where God defeated the devil, and hang it up, so the devil knows it is going to happen again — God did it before, and he will do it again.
- The same principle is in the sword that killed Goliath: they do not have record David ever used it again, but all the enemy had to do was see it, and know there is none like it.
- Third, get fire back in the dance, the shout, and the preaching: he gives 60 seconds to shout like you are on fire and dance like you are on fire, because it is like fire shut up in the bones, and there are no buzzards at the upper room — God is coming to do his end of the deal, and the people must battle the buzzards until he gets there.
- The devil still hates prayer and still hates talking in tongues, he says, and the same thing that worked before must be used again, even if it did not seem to leave last time — and lastly, music: when the prophet got ready to prophesy, he said, "Give me some music," and every once in a while you have to crank it up.
The closing shout: no buzzard will defile devotion
- He gathers the battle into one act: fire, noise, music, and effigies, all at one time — pull your hands out of your pockets, clap your hands, and shout it down tonight, because it is either your little image or the buzzards, and he is not worried about what somebody says about him; he wants to save the sacrifice and preserve the devotion.
- He asks who has a testimony, who has an effigy, something in the past where God defeated the devil — and counts it down: one, two, three, go, and they shout it again, and again, until the building sounds like people serious about the battle.
- The shout becomes the declaration itself: "Ain't no buzzards going to defile my devotion. Ain't no dirty buzzard going to spoil my sacrifice." And once more, with something at stake — a revival, a promise, a family member — "It's yours. Go. You better go. Shout. Dance. Leap. Move. It's revival time. It's Holy Ghost time. It's miracle time. Battle, mama. Somebody battle those buzzards. Get out of here."

We'll jump in at verse number one. After these things, the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision saying, "Fear not, Abram. I am thy shield and thy exceeding great reward." And Abram said, "Lord God, what will thou give me seeing I go childless?" Verse three. And Abram said, "Behold, to me thou hast given no seed, and lo, one born in my house is mine heir." Behold, the word of the Lord came unto him saying, "This shall not be thine heir, but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir." Verse number six. And he believed in the Lord and counted it to him and he counted it to him for righteousness. And he said unto him, "I'm the Lord that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees to give thee this And he said, "Lord God, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it?" Notice closely. God said unto him, "Take a heifer of three years old, and she-goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtledove and a young pigeon." And he took unto him all these and divided them in the midst and laid each piece one against another. But the birds divided he not. Verse 11. And when the fowls came down upon the Abraham drove them away. And when the fowls came down upon the carcasses, Abraham away. Verse 18, in that same day the Lord made a covenant with Abraham saying, "Unto thy seed have I given this land from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates." In the same day, someone say the same day, the Lord made a covenant with Abraham. I'd like to draw your attention one more time back to verse number 11, and when the fowls came down upon the carcasses, Abraham drove them away. I want to preach tonight for a few moments from this thought, battling the buzzards. Battling the buzzards. If you would, would you put your Bibles down, your devices, whatever you're reading off of, and I'm asking us not out of just tradition. I would ask you not to just do this even just out of obedience. I want us to pray, and I want us to pray fervently, and I want us to pray effectually. I want us to pray with a loud with a loud sound in this place that we we we want God to meet with us. We we need to hear from God. We want God to move in this house tonight. Would you lift your voice right now and pray all Up in the risers and in the balcony, Come on, somebody that needs to hear from the Lord tonight. Would you just let God know where you're If you need THE LORD TO TOUCH you in a special way tonight, WOULD YOU JUST LET THE LORD KNOW WHERE YOU'RE at right now Come on, I feel something rising in here Come on, I feel something rising in here It's not the will of God for you to
leave this service defeated. God wants If you really believe that the Holy Ghost, come on, is going TO DO SOMETHING SPECIAL, WOULD YOU PUT YOUR HANDS together one more time before you're seated and shout to him OH MY, YOU OUGHT TO DO IT AGAIN. THAT FEELS GOOD. THAT SOUNDS GOOD. You can be seated. Thank you for Woo! El Aboshanda Kayala. Ooh, shamahaya. Ooh, taraboy eshanda labahaya. Come on, I DON'T WANT TO GET THE CART IN FRONT OF THE HORSE, BUT I JUST GOT TO ASK SOMEBODY, DO YOU FEEL LIKE THERE'S In fact, if you will indulge me for just a few moments as I There's a lot that unfolds and happens, and I would like to just highlight a few of the things that unfold Abraham His dad was a maker of idols. According to tradition a voice not something that Abraham could touch, a voice, an unseen voice calls to this YOUNG MAN. COME OUT OF THIS OF UR of Chaldees. This young man, and there's a lot that could be said about this. Time will not allow me to really dive into the full depths of it, but I will mention a few things. Abraham Abraham is willing to step away from friends and comfort and family. Everything that he knew, everything that he was accustomed to, he the devotion, the commitment. THE COMMITMENT TO FOLLOW THIS VOICE. The Bible says that Abraham takes out after Ur of Chaldees. We find out very quickly that Abraham is not only willing to put the old world behind him. But we find out very quickly that Abraham is an altar builder. Abraham is acquainted with building altars. Building altars is not something that's foreign to him. In fact, we find several places in chapter 12 and 13 and 14 where Abraham is There is turmoil between Abraham and Lot, and there is a separation that takes place, and we we see the deep devotion of this man who's willing to walk away from all of it. As now he is separated from his from his nephew Lot and the Bible says that it's the hard way that Abraham takes, but Abraham, even when he when he has to take THE HARD WAY, HE'S STILL he's still building altars. This is a man of commitment.
This is a man of deep devotion. That nephew Lot gets himself in trouble and again, this is a a very condensed version, but it's this praying it's this altar building. It's this dedicated man that's willing to take the 300, I believe it was 318 trained servants from his house. And he takes after There's a war that takes place, a battle and and Abraham takes his servants from his house and he It's the first recorded battle in the Bible. It's the first recorded battle in the Bible. The first recorded battle in the Bible is when a man's willing to go I'm going to say that again. I said it's the first recorded battle in the Bible. Don't think it's coincidence. Don't think it's by accident. You hear this preacher right now. I don't know WHAT KIND OF FIGHTS YOU'VE BEEN IN IN LATELY. I DON'T KNOW WHERE YOU'RE EXERTING YOUR ENERGY, BUT THERE IS NO BATTLE MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE BATTLE FOR OUR My children mean more to me than my hurt feelings. Come on, MY FAMILY MEANS MORE TO ME THAN LIFE'S OFFENSES. I need somebody to help me right now. COME ON. I SAID MY KIDS MEAN MORE TO ME THAN THE CRISIS THAT'S GOING ON IN MY CHURCH. COME ON, MY WIFE MEANS MORE TO ME THAN THE WORRIES AND THE ANXIETIES. COME ON, IF WE'RE GOING TO BATTLE, IF WE'RE GOING TO WAR, COME ON, WE WE OUGHT TO BE I HAD A plan to stay under an hour, so I can't get hung up there. But, I'm telling you, WE NEED TO GO BACK. WE NEED TO GO BACK TO WHAT THE FIRST BATTLE WAS ALL ABOUT. WE'RE FIGHTING TOO MANY THINGS. WE NEED TO STOP FIGHTING ONE ANOTHER. WE NEED TO START FIGHTING THINGS THAT HAVE NO ETERNAL MERIT. COME ON, MAMA, YOU NEED TO FIGHT FOR YOUR KIDS. COME ON, DADDY. COME ON, THEY'RE GOING TO RUN YOUR REPUTATION THROUGH THE MUD ANYWAYS. WHY DON'T YOU FIGHT FOR YOUR BOYS? WHY DON'T YOU FIGHT FOR YOUR HALLELUJAH, I feel a touch there. I want something this WEEK, BROTHER HOLMES, TO HAPPEN IN OUR FAMILIES. I WANT GOD TO TOUCH MY KIDS THIS WEEK. I WANT GOD TO TOUCH YOUR KIDS. OUR KIDS NEED A HOLY GHOST ENCOUNTER THIS WEEK. I WANT TO KNOW HOW MANY HOW MANY'S WILLING TO GO TO WAR THIS WEEK FOR OUR FAMILIES, FOR THEN Abraham's willing to put everything aside. He's dedicated. HE'S DEVOTED. HE'S COMMITTED. I SAID HE'S WILLING TO PUT EVERYTHING ELSE ASIDE. HE SPENT 318 servants of his house. YOU KNOW WHAT THAT TELLS ME? THAT WHATEVER THEY WERE DOING, COME ON, WHEN A FAMILY MEMBER'S IN TROUBLE, WHATEVER EVERYBODY ELSE WAS DOING, IT DOESN'T MATTER I'M GOING TO BACK UP AND TRY THAT AGAIN. COME ON, SIR. COME ON. IF YOUR DAUGHTER'S IN TROUBLE, THERE OUGHT TO BE SOMETHING THAT RISES UP IN YOU IN THIS CAMP MEETING AND SAYS NOTHING MATTERS. COME ON. IF THE LOAN DOESN'T GO THROUGH, IF I DON'T GET AN APOLOGY, COME ON. I'VE GOT TO HAVE THE HOLY GHOST MOVE IN MY FROM THIS conflict are some things that unfold, transpire. We see more of the deep devotion Because the Bible says that as this thing starts wrapping up, that he Abraham is approached There's two things I want to begin tonight. And I want to stand flat-footed and I want the enemy to hear us. I want a sound to go forth from this building. I want you to make a spiritual statement with me. There's two things. We're going to fight for our families and we refuse to do business with the
I DON'T CARE WHAT ELSE HAPPENS RIGHT NOW. YOU'RE LOOKING AT ONE PREACHER THAT'S GOT MY MIND MADE UP ABOUT TWO THINGS. I'M GOING TO BE LOVING GOD AND OUT OF THAT LOVE FOR GOD, I'M GOING TO BE FIGHTING FOR MY FAMILY, AND I REFUSE COME ON. I WANT TO KNOW IS THERE ANY ONE GOD APOSTOLIC PEOPLE OUT THERE? ARE THERE ANY PEOPLE ARE THERE ANY HOLINESS PEOPLE OUT THERE? COME ON. HOLINESS WITHIN AND HOLINESS WITHOUT. I WANT TO KNOW IS THERE ANYBODY OUT THERE THAT STILL BELIEVES THAT TO BE FRIENDS AND LOVE THE WORLD IS TO BE AT ENMITY WITH I DON'T WANT ANYTHING the world has to offer. I don't want to look like the world. I don't want to do what the world's You think hey, if you think just because you cross that bridge one time that you'll never have to face that again, YOU BETTER THINK AGAIN, HONEY. JUST BECAUSE ABRAHAM WAS WILLING TO LEAVE UR OF THE CHALDEES DOESN'T MEAN THAT SOMEWHERE DOWN THE ROAD THAT THE KINGS OF SODOM AND GOMORRAH ARE NOT GOING TO SEE IF THE DOOR IS OPEN. I'M TELLING YOU, I MAY BE BROKE AS JOB'S TURKEY. I'M NOT DOING BUSINESS WITH THE WORLD. I DON'T CARE HOW BAD YOU'RE STRUGGLING. I'M NOT DOING BUSINESS WITH THE WORLD. I not even a shoe I said, "Not even a Somewhere between this decision in chapter 15 and verse number one, just What's this going to cost me? You know, how quick our flesh wants to get the calculator out and This has got a chance to affect me This has got a chance to affect me These decisions that I have just made, I'm talking I'm talking to you about the deep devotion of the man Abraham. These AND HERE'S HOW GOD FEELS ABOUT IT. AFTER THESE THINGS CHAPTER 15 STARTS AFTER THESE THINGS. AFTER WHAT THINGS? AFTER ABRAHAM REFUSES TO DO BUSINESS WITH THE WORLD, GOD SHOWS UP AND SAYS, "THERE'S NOTHING FOR YOU TO WORRY ABOUT, OLD BOY. I'LL BE YOUR SHIELD AND I'LL BE YOUR GREAT AND HALLELUJAH. YOU OUGHT TO CLAP YOUR HANDS AND THANK GOD FOR THAT PROMISE RIGHT You can be seated. Stay with me. I'm I'm pecking around here. I'm going to get And Abraham in his deep devotion hears this from God and he says, He said, "But what about HE SAID, "You made me these promises and
I put ALL OF THESE THINGS IN PLACE. Oh God, I'm going to preach to somebody in this house on Saturday night. I've made all these decisions. I don't regret one decision I've made. I've I've put everything in order. I've lined I'VE DONE MY BEST. COME ON, I NEED SOMEBODY TO HELP ME RIGHT NOW. I haven't been perfect, but I've DONE EVERYTHING I KNOW I'VE DOTTED EVERY I AND CROSSED You're not going to help me preach right now, but I'm I'm going to I'm going TO GET IN YOUR BUSINESS HERE. COME ON. COME ON. THERE'S A LOT OF GOOD PREACHING COMING, BUT I'M GOING TO GIVE YOU EVERYTHING I'VE GOT. I'M GOING TO UNLOAD NOW, I'M THE ONLY ONE THAT'S EVER BEEN THERE. COME ON. I'M THE ONLY ONE THAT'S EVER LOOKED BACK OVER MY SHOULDER AND SAID, "WELL, I DID THAT AND YOU WANTED ME TO DO THAT AND I DID THAT AND YOU DIDN'T WANT ME TO DO THAT AND I DIDN'T DO THAT AND AND I I'VE GOT EVERYTHING. I have no The one born in my house is I I God says Oh, he is the man that's in your house. That's not your He said, "Your heir shall come forth out of thine own bowels." And he brought him forth abroad and said, "Look toward the heaven and tell the stars if thou be able to number them." And he said UNTO THEM, "SO SHALL THY SEED BE." AND ABRAHAM believed in the Lord and he And he said unto him, "I'M THE LORD THAT BROUGHT THEE OUT OF THE EARTH CHALDEES TO GIVE thee this land inherited." And he said, "Lord God, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it?" IT'S ONE OF THOSE MOMENTS WHERE I BELIEVE You know, it hit me preaching THE OTHER DAY, BROTHER TALLY, WHAT THAT LOOKS LIKE. I THOUGHT, "HOW CAN A MAN BELIEVE AND unbelieve at the same time?" I don't think that's what's GOING ON. IT'S DAYS WE believe and days we HAVE UNBELIEF. IT'S DAYS WE FEEL LIKE IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN. IT'S TIMES WE PREACH, COME ON, AND WE JUST KNOW THAT THE DOORS ARE ABOUT TO BLOW OPEN. AND IT'S OTHER TIMES WE PREACH, COME ON, AND WE'RE BEATING OUR HEAD AGAINST THE WALL. HOW DO I KNOW COME ON, I WANT TO KNOW HOW MANY WOULD LIKE TO LEAVE THIS CAMP MEETING, COME ON, AT THE CLOSE OF TUESDAY NIGHT AND TO GO HOME WITH AN ASSURANCE THAT EVERYTHING THAT GOD HAS PROMISED YOU. HOW MANY WOULD LIKE GOD TO PAT YOU ON I GOT GOOD NEWS FOR YOU. YOU DON'T HAVE TO WAIT TILL TUESDAY NIGHT. COME ON, RIGHT OUT OF THE GATE, RIGHT HERE ON SATURDAY NIGHT, GOD WANTS TO ASSURE SOMEBODY. COME ON, I'M NOT A MAN TO LIE. YOU BELIEVE THAT, CLAP YOUR HANDS RIGHT YOU CAN be seated. And God said, "All right, here's what we're going to I want you to get a three-year-old heifer." Well, there's an anointing here tonight, folks. I just feel like there's some stuff about to blow bust loose in this place. I want you to get a three-year-old heifer. What's five? It was the dove and the pigeon. Gather all this up. And here's what you do. This deeply devoted man to the dotting of the I and the crossing of the T. I'm not preaching to sloppy Christians tonight. God sent me with a word here on Saturday night
to preach to people that have lived your God said get a three-year-old heifer, he got A THREE-YEAR-OLD HEIFER. GOD SAID GET A THREE-YEAR-OLD RAM, HE AND THE BIRDS live and I don't have time to talk about what all this sacrifice could be symbolic to, but he lets the birds live and he divides This is where I want to preach. That's where That's where That's where there's a It'd blow your mind if you knew the percentages of people in this building right here on this Saturday night at camp meeting this exactly where you've at where you've at. You We No, you haven't been perfect. None of us have been perfect, but you you have done your dead level BEST TO CROSS EVERY T AND DOT every I. Come on, THE STRUGGLE AND THE WAR COME ON, ANYBODY GOING TO HELP ME PREACH right now? AGAIN, I WANT TO BE METHODICAL AND I WANT TO TACK THIS DOWN REAL TIGHT BECAUSE GOD'S GIVEN ME A WORD TO PREACH HERE TONIGHT. BUT I JUST WANT TO TELL SOMEBODY GOD KNOWS EVERY SACRIFICE YOU'VE MADE AND YOU CAN LEAVE HERE WITH AN ASSURANCE THAT THE SACRIFICE IS NOT GOING TO SPOIL AND THE WORSHIP IS NOT NATHAN MORTON, EVERY PRAYER YOU PRAYED, COME ON. I HATE TO START CALLING NAMES, BUT I FEEL THE HOLY GHOST GETTING ON ME RIGHT NOW. EVERY ALTAR YOU BUILT, EVERY DAY YOU TURNED THE PLATE OVER. COME ON, ABRAHAM. I KNOW YOU'RE WAITING ON GOD TO SHOW UP, BUT I WANT TO TELL YOU THE WORSHIP WILL NOT WASTE AND THE SACRIFICE SO, what happens is on God to come through on his end. I'm preaching TO SOME PEOPLE TONIGHT. COME ON, YOU'RE NOT BEING SLOPPY WHEN IT COMES TO SPIRITUAL THINGS. COME ON, SOMEBODY ELSE CAN PREACH TO THOSE FOLKS. I'VE COME TO PREACH PREACH TO THE DEEPLY DEVOTED. I'VE COME TO PREACH TO THOSE WHO HAVE CONSISTENTLY BEEN CONSECRATED. COME ON, THE SACRIFICE IS THERE. COME ON, YOU'RE WAITING ON GOD. YOU PASSED THROUGH. YOU'RE WAITING ON GOD TO SHOW UP AND FINALIZE THE DEAL. COME ON, I'M MY MIND GOES BACK TO A PORTION OF SCRIPTURE THAT FITS WAY TOO GOOD RIGHT HERE NOT TO MENTION. THE BIBLE SAYS, "NOW WHILE PAUL WAITED FOR THEM AT ATHENS, HIS SPIRIT WAS STIRRED UP IN HIM." CAN I PREACH TO SOMEBODY? YOU'RE WAITING ON GOD TO SHOW UP AND GIVE YOU THAT REVIVAL OR ANSWER THAT PRAYER, BUT IT'S NOT TIME FOR YOU TO BE DISTURBED. IT'S TIME FOR YOU TO GET STIRRED UP IN STIRRED. Now, I'm going TO PREACH THIS. YOU'RE NOT BACKING ME OFF OF THIS. I SAID YOU CAME TO THIS MEETING DISTURBED. WHILE PAUL WAITED, his spirit was stirred up in him. I know you put everything in place. I KNOW YOU'RE DOING EVERYTHING IN YOUR POWER, BUT I'M TELLING YOU WHEN THE WAITING COMES, COME ON, WHEN THE WAITING COMES, IT'S NOT TIME TO START WORRYING. IT'S TIME TO GO TO WAR. IT'S TIME TO WRESTLE. IT'S TIME TO WORSHIP. COME ON, WHEN THE WAITING VULTURES.
You read about vultures and buzzards in the Bible and you will always find THAT THEY'RE A TYPE THEY'RE UNCLEAN, BROTHER HAL. MY God and mercy. Would somebody help me push this over VULTURES AND Brother Holmes, it wasn't one, it wasn't one buzzard. It was multiple buzzards. IT WAS A IT WAS A BUZZARD OF THIS IT WAS A BUZZARD OF BAD NEWS. COME ON, IT WAS A BUZZARD OF OF A SLEEPLESS NIGHT. IT WAS A BUZZARD OF CHURCH TROUBLE. IT WAS A BUZZARD OF A DOCTOR'S YOU'RE NOT going to help me preach RIGHT NOW. COME ON. EVERYTHING IS IN PLACE. EVERYTHING IS IN ORDER. ALL WE NEED FOR WHAT DO YOU DO? WHEN YOU'VE PUT EVERYTHING IN PLACE and all you need, brother Hair, is for God to show up. My God, have mercy. Are you going to leave me out on that skinny limb? The only honest man in this building. When and you're waiting on God to show up. What do you do when God's supposed to Those buzzards of doubt, they want to defy the last 15-year investment that you've made. That buzzard of depression. Come on, I'm talking to you right now. That old buzzard of depression. Come on, keeps buzzing in over your sacrifice. It's buzzing IN OVER YOUR MIND. THAT OLD BUZZARD'S BEEN BUZZING IN ON SUNDAY MORNING WHEN YOU'RE PREACHING AND IT FEELS LIKE YOU'RE HITTING YOUR HEAD AGAINST A CEMENT WALL. COME ON, I'M PREACHING TO SOMEBODY. GOD WAS WHAT DO WE DO? WHAT DO WE DO WHEN GOD'S SUPPOSED TO SHOW UP? WHAT DO WE DO WHEN EVERYTHING'S IN PLACE AND GOD DOESN'T IT wants to trip him up He come to defile the devotion. The buzzards show up to defile with doubt. Well, maybe God didn't call me. Maybe maybe he's through with me. Maybe the door shut. Maybe I've run my race. May maybe may MAY MAY MAY MAYBE I MISHEARD SOMEWHERE. COME ON. COME ON AND THAT old doubt that old buzzard of doubt. It's not one buzzard. Come on. While we're waiting it's all kinds of stuff. But God sent me to this Saturday night of Arkansas in the national camp meeting to preach to you good FAITHFUL PEOPLE. COME ON. I'VE COME to preach TO YOU. IT'S TIME TO DECLARE BATTLE ON THE BUZZARDS. COME ON. IT'S YOU KNOW WHAT THE HOLY GHOST WANTS TO DO HERE TONIGHT? COME ON. I'M NOT GOING TO BE SHY ABOUT IT. I REFUSE TO BE MARGINALIZED. I'LL TELL YOU WHAT HE WANTS TO DO. HE WANTS TO GIVE YOU A REVIVAL IN YOUR CONFIDENCE. HE WANTS TO RESTORE YOUR SELF-CONFIDENCE. HE WANTS SOMETHING TO SPRING UP INSIDE OF YOU THAT SAYS GOD WILL DO IT. GOD'S GOING TO DO IT. GOD'S GOING TO SHOW UP. GOD'S BUILD A NEW BUILDING. Three families leave. This is hypothetical. Holy Ghost hypothetical. I've passed through there and I've I've made all the preparations. Everything's in place. I've said no to the world. I refuse to do business with Sodom. I left everything in Ur of THE CHALDEES. WHAT A DEAL. AND IF YOU'RE NOT CAREFUL, IF YOU'RE NOT CAREFUL, YOU LISTEN TO ME RIGHT NOW. IF YOU'RE NOT CAREFUL, when you put everything in place, if you're not
careful when the buzzards show up, come on. You You can BE SO TAKEN BACK. I DON'T DESERVE THIS. WHERE'D THIS COME FROM? I DIDN'T BARGAIN FOR THIS. I DIDN'T KNOW PRAYER BROUGHT THIS. I DIDN'T KNOW COMMITMENT BROUGHT THIS. I DIDN'T KNOW DEVOTION BROUGHT THIS. COME ON. I WANT SOMEBODY TO GET SERIOUS THIS WEEK, NOT JUST TONIGHT. EVERY PREACHER THAT PREACHES, I WANT YOU TO GET SOMETHING IN YOUR HAND AND I WANT YOU TO DRIVE OUT THE BUZZARDS. GET OFF OF MY SACRIFICES. GET OFF OF MY PROMISES. GET OFF OF THE PRAYERS THAT I PRAYED. GET OFF OF THE PROPHECIES THAT GOD HAS GIVEN COME ON. THANK YOU, BROTHER. I WONDERED HOW LONG IT'D TAKE FOR SOMEBODY GOT A CODE IN THEIR HAND. I'M TELLING YOU RIGHT NOW THE SACRIFICE IS NOT GOING TO SPOIL. THE REVIVAL IS NOT GOING TO RUIN. COME ON. MY JOB IS TO KEEP THE BUZZARDS IN PLAY. YOU CAN'T HAVE MY FAMILY. YOU CAN'T HAVE MY REVIVAL. YOU CAN'T HAVE MY ALTAR. YOU CAN'T HAVE MY PRAYER LIFE. I WANT SOMEBODY TO MAKE A SOUND IN THIS BUILDING RIGHT NOW LIKE YOU'RE SERIOUS Can I preach this TO YOU RIGHT NOW? COME ON. IT'S NOT TIME FOR YOUR CHURCH. IT'S NOT TIME FOR YOUR PEOPLE TO YOUR TIME. IT'S NOT TIME FOR YOUR FAMILY TO TURN INTO A PITY CITY. ABRAHAM DIDN'T SIT DOWN AND START SUCKING HIS THUMB AND SAID, "GOD, AFTER ALL I'VE DONE FOR YOU, AND YOU'RE GOING TO LET THIS HAPPEN?" NO. WHEN THE BUZZARDS SHOW UP, YOU GOT A BATTLE. GET OUT OF HERE, DOUBT. GET OUT OF HERE, DEPRESSION. GET OUT OF HERE, I HATE TO BE THE BEARER OF BAD NEWS, BUT I'M TELLING SOME OF YOU RIGHT NOW THE REASON THE BUZZARDS ARE STILL HANGING AROUND IS YOU'RE WAITING ON GOD TO DRIVE THEM OUT. GOD NEEDS YOU TO GET SOME BOLDNESS TO BATTLE BUZZARDS. I WANT TO KNOW, DOES ANYBODY HAVE THE BOLDNESS? I CAN'T HEAR YOU. I CAN'T HEAR YOU. DO YOU HAVE THE DO YOU HAVE THE BOLDNESS TO BATTLE THE JACOB. JACOB. JOSEPH. DAVID. You got to do more Uh-oh. Some people dodge Potiphar's wife defiling them. But then they're defiled by the bitterness that suddenly slips in Oh, I interpreted their dreams and then they got out of prison and then they Yeah. You didn't know this, but there's five gospels. Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, I promise you I can show you this. I'm You hear me? The Holy Ghost. You got the money to put a new roof on this building cuz we fixin' to blow this ANYBODY WANT TO HELP ME BLOW THIS ROOF I so I just I went and Googled. I didn't even have I had no clue, Brother Adams, that people had mice, rodents, gophers. PEOPLE HAVE PROBLEM WITH VULTURES. Boom. And some of you ain't going to believe this. I didn't find it one place. I found it all over the internet. And I'm going to preach these things to you right now in closing. Brother Davis, this is how we have to
battle the buzzards. The first thing that I read was you have I'm going to say it again. Hey. You have to remove anything YOU HEAR ME RIGHT NOW? LET ME TELL YOU ONE OF THE GREAT PERCHES. I DON'T HAVE TIME TO PREACH ALL OF THEM, BUT I'M GOING TO TELL YOU ONE OF THE GREAT ONES. COME ON. WHEN YOU'VE HAD A BAD DAY, COME ON, AND IT'S REALLY BEATING ON YOU, LISTEN TO ME. I PRAY WHETHER IT'S A GOOD DAY OR A BAD DAY. I PRAY WHETHER I'M ON THE MOUNTAIN OR IN THE VALLEY. PRAYERLESSNESS IS NOT A PERCH THAT I'M GOING TO GIVE A VULTURE. COME ON. THAT I CAN'T hear you RIGHT NOW. YOU'VE GOT TO ELIMINATE ANY PERCHING. COME ON. I DON'T WANT THERE TO BE ANY PLACE. THE BIBLE SAYS THAT YOU'RE NOT TO GIVE PLACE TO THE DEVIL. COME ON. I'M NOT GOING TO HAVE A BAD ATTITUDE. COME ON. I'M NOT GOING TO HAVE A DAY THAT I LET COME ON, SOMEBODY RIGHT NOW. YOU WANT TO BATTLE THE VULTURES? YOU GOT TO STEP OUT, PUT A SMILE ON YOUR FACE, AND SAY, "THIS IS THE DAY THAT THE LORD HAD MADE. I WILL CAN I TELL SOMEBODY RIGHT NOW? I DIDN'T SEE A SPECIFIC PERSON, BUT EVERY TIME I'D PRAY, COME ON, I KEPT SEEING A VISION IN MY MIND OF PEOPLE PACING THE FLOORS. PEOPLE IN THIS BUILDING TONIGHT PUNCHING YOUR CHEST AND PULLING YOUR HAIR OUT. PACING THE FLOORS AT NIGHT. MY GOD, IF YOU'RE GOING TO STAY UP ALL NIGHT AND PACE THE FLOORS, YOU OUGHT TO THROW YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR AND SAY, "GOD IS GOOD. NAKED I CAME IN THIS WORLD, AND NAKED I MAY RETURN. BUT For him to land on. If you're going to keep the buzzards from defiling your Some of you ain't going to believe me. Just don't Google it right now. Wait wait wait till after church and Google Another way it's said that you could battle buzzards. You could get victory It's something I never heard of before in my life. It's called an effigy. Look it up. It's everywhere. I wish I had better prepared. I would have had the media team put a picture up. Where you could see it. Effigies are often used during the calving calving season by people ranchers who run cows for a living. It's an effigy. You say, "What's an An effigy is something that they hang upside down in a tree in the calving area. An effigy is the image You keep the buzzard away A dead buzzard. You don't hang him upright. YOU HANG HIM UPSIDE DOWN. CUZ WHEN YOU HANG HIM UPSIDE DOWN HIS NO, I'M NOT I'M NOT LYING TO YOU RIGHT NOW. IN FACT, I ALREADY TOLD THE LORD TO FORGIVE US CUZ IF I FEEL A SPIRIT OF DOUBT COMING HERE I'M GOING TO GET I'M GOING TO TELL YOU GET YOUR phones and They put IT IN THE CALVING AREA. YOU KNOW WHY? YOU KNOW IT'S AN EFFIGY. YOU KNOW WHY IT WORKS? YOU'RE HAVING YOURSELF a pity party, WHICH BY THE WAY, YOU CAN'T HAVE POWER AND pity at the same time. YOU'RE FEELING SORRY FOR YOURSELF. COME ON, CODY MARKS IS HERE TO BREAK UP THE PITY PARTIES. YOU NEED TO GO BACK IN YOUR MIND, AND YOU NEED TO GET A PAST MIRACLE AND HANG IT UP AND LET THE DEVIL KNOW HE'S THE SAME YESTERDAY, TODAY, AND FOREVER. HE PROVIDED 10 YEARS AGO. HE'S GOING TO DO IT AGAIN. I CAN'T HEAR YOU. IF YOU BELIEVE HE CAN DO IT AGAIN, YOU OUGHT TO SHOUT. YOU OUGHT TO DANCE. YOU OUGHT TO LIFT YOUR THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED. This is what happened the last time you messed with me. I'm preaching about battling buzzards. The Bible says Abraham GOT UP. COME ON. AND UNTIL GOD SHOWED UP, ABRAHAM KEPT I PROMISE I'm I'm really getting close to done. I promise. I was shocked. Another thing that's commonly used to keep the buzzards away Y'all go ahead and laugh. BECAUSE THE BIBLE SAID WHEN THE PROPHET GOT READY TO PROPHESY, GIVE ME SOME MUSIC. COME ON, EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE YOU GOT TO CRANK IT UP, BOYS. YOU GOT TO CRANK IT UP. WHAT ARE YOU DOING? WE'RE FIGHTING BUZZARDS. WHAT ARE WE DOING? WE'RE DEFENDING THE PROMISES OF GOD. HERE'S WHAT WE'RE GOING TO DO. ANYBODY READY WE'RE GOING to we're going to do all three at one time.
