Summary
Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.
Opening: a posture to receive
- The cut opens with a spoken exhortation to entertain the presence of the Lord already manifest in the building, and an admonition to get in a posture and a position to receive what is about to flow.
- He prays that hearers will put aside their premonitions and what is waiting on them when they get home, and receive what the Lord wants to give in the service, asking, "Do you feel him in this building right now?" and calling them to lift their hands once more.
- After a music gap, the sermon narrative begins.
David is called: Samuel and the horn of oil
- The narrative opens on an ordinary-seeming day: David is tending sheep when a servant comes, and David rehearses the words of the prophet Samuel, trying to put the pieces together as he walks into a familiar place.
- He is greeted with ambivalence: excitement at what Samuel could want with him, and the piercing stares of his jealous brethren, malice and jealousy in the same room as life in the atmosphere — and it is there, he says, that favor is being born and forged.
- Samuel makes his announcement: "This is him." God does not pick like men pick, he says — God does not choose according to abilities, anoint according to abilities, or give favor according to a family name. "If it was men picking, I wouldn't be holding the mic tonight."
- Samuel uncorks the horn of oil, and the oil runs down over David, soaking into his hair and garments. The speaker returns to the smell of that moment throughout: it is a smell David would not forget, and a garment he would want to keep fresh.
Smelling the anointing: Saul's house, skill, and the giant
- David is sent to a king tormented by evil spirits, on the wild idea that playing a song will help — and the speaker insists David was doing more than pulling strings on the way to Saul's house: he was pulling his coat to him and smelling the anointing oil, knowing that without God's help and anointing nothing would turn out well.
- The application is blunt: skill matters — lyrics right, chords right, everything done well and not sloppily — but a tormented world is not set free by getting the music right. "We better be doing more than just getting the lyrics right. We better be doing more than just getting the chords right."
- He presses young preachers to delete GPT and AI off their phones and get in a prayer closet, and to stop bringing practice sermons: "It's not by enticing words of man's wisdom. We need somebody that's got anointing oil." The church, he says, is not for us but for the people who are not here yet.
- The same coat comes back in the valley: David runs past Saul's armor, stops at the brook for five smooth stones, and is grabbing his old coat again, swinging a skilled swing while sniffing the anointing oil. There was still enough of that anointing left, he says, to invigorate him to sling the stone.
Anoint the shields: the Isaiah admonishment and dry shields
- From the book of Isaiah he takes an admonishment: rise up, for there is an enemy at the door — and in the same breath, anoint the shields. The shields were leather, and leather had to be oiled, because over time the oil wears away and the shield dries.
- A dry shield is vulnerable, he says: it cracks, loses its flexibility and movement, is open to mold, and cannot snuff out fiery darts — while an oiled shield flexes when it is hit and the oil puts the fire out.
- It is not just shields that dry out, he warns: a soldier dries out, a man's spirit dries up, and the fiery darts do not stop because the shield dried out. Offense, he says, becomes a choice rather than an event when the shield is oiled.
- "There is an enemy at the door. There is an opportunity at the door at the same time." The word for the camp meeting is a fresh touch, a fresh anointing.
Twenty-five years, Psalm 92, and the oil change
- He counts 25 years from the time David stood before Samuel with the initial anointing until David brought up Jerusalem, and admits there is no textbook or syllabus for where the fresh touch falls in a life — only that 25 years is a long time, and that God touches again: "Thank God for that initial anointing... But I want you to understand that he'll touch you again."
- He argues David wrote Psalm 92, and quotes its verse: "But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of a unicorn... I shall be anointed with fresh oil." That verse, he says, is his assignment for the meeting.
- His own testimony anchors it: he received the Holy Ghost at five and a half, was called to preach at an early age, and remembers a cold February night in 1987 — but at 45, he says, he needs a fresh touch, a new experience.
- The oil change preaches it plainly: a car needs its oil changed or things get thick and heavy and the engine breaks down, and the filter is changed too. "Even preachers need the filter. I need God to change the filter on my mind. I need God to change the filter on my mouth."
Scriptures: Psalms 92; Psalms 92:10
Don't quit: fresh oil for the stuck and the half-dead
- The altar call answers every quitting voice the same way: about to resign a church, about to divorce, about to get a lawyer or go to court, about to quit or backslide — "You don't need to resign. You need fresh oil."
- He preaches to people who are half dead — half-dead burdens, visions, ministries, anointings, passion, confidence — and to mamas whose children have been attacked, to people battling suicide, cutting, and depression, and to people dependent on pills for function day and night. The answer in each case is fresh oil to heal the wounds up.
- A stuck church, a stuck preacher, and stuck people can be unstuck, he says: "I believe there's a fresh oil here tonight that's going to unstick us." Naomi's word to Ruth is the picture: go home with something fresh, not depending on something from 10 years ago.
- "This is the year of the answered prayer. This is the year that prophecies are going to come to pass. This is the year that the prodigal's going to come home." Esther, he says, approached her moment like she would never get it back, with nothing old to sustain her — only something fresh.
- David's hardest acceptance preaches the same point: told "No, you can't build it. Your hands are too bloody," and facing the rejection of a prophet and a friend, he still stored up everything for the house — because somewhere in the timeline he got a touch of fresh oil and stopped trying to trace an old touch.
- The closing appeal refuses to stay where things are: "I don't want to stay here... I need a healing. I need assurance. I need a fresh outlook. I need fresh vision. I need a fresh anointing." He tells hearers with migraine headaches and chronic backache that fresh oil will heal them, and that the camp meeting is not staying stuck but moving up and out into new territory.
Fresh territory and the towel
- Hands go up as funnels for the oil: with the same measure of frustration and dryness, lift the voice and cry for fresh oil to touch the place, heal minds and emotions, and put back together what the devil is trying to destroy. "Don't stop. Fresh oil."
- "There's another chapter. There's another season. This story is not over. God's not finished." He names people in the room — a pastor's wife losing her mind, a brother told God's not finished with him — and warns against questioning a calling and an anointing.
- The final acted picture is the towel: men with white hankies line up on the platform, and the preacher replays what he saw in prayer — hands that came to camp meeting about to throw a dream, a church, a message, a ministry, a kid, a promise, a prayer away, towel clenched and ready to throw it in.
- The reversal is the close: "We're not leaving here throwing in the towel. We're taking that same town. Come on. We're going home. We're fixing to serve with passion. We're fixing to serve with joy. We're fixing to serve with enthusiasm." The cut ends mid-phrase as he declares he has only begun to preach, to jump, and to shout, and calls for lifted hands.

If you heavens. Let's entertain the presence of the Lord that's already manifest in this building I would like to admonish you before I tonight that we get in a in a posture and a position to receive what is about to flow in this We see into a glass darkly. But there is one thing that I certainty. So clear the spirit in the last couple of days let has let me know that tonight in this building there would come a significant surge. A significant spiritual surge is going to move into this house. And I want that to rush over me. And I want it to feel me. I want it to move And so for the next little bit, my prayer is is that you can put aside your premonitions. Put aside what's waiting on you when you get home and receive what the Lord wants to service. Do you feel him in this building right now? One more time. Can we just lift our hands? It day. But as he looked up from the sheep tending in the There was no way to know that the message that bringing would make what seemed like day one of the greatest days of his He looks and he watches
in wondering in the back of his mind who could this be and what could he want with me? His days were spent alone on the backside of uncommon. And finally, this servant gets close. David recognizes house. He stops trying to catch his breath. His chest is heaving, gasping for breath. He begins to rehearse the words of the prophet Samuel. And through his stambering lips and stuttered speech, David begins to put the pieces together. It's urgent. The servant tells him. Urgent. David questions him. He said, "Yes." He said, "The last thing that I heard before I fled from his presence was he turned and told your father and your brethren, we will not David gathers himself wondering in his mind what lies ahead of him. I can promise you there was no way within the confines of his imagination that he could have ever dreamed heard, neither has it entered into the heart of man. God what God has prepared for you and for I. And he walks in and as he steps in to this familiar place, following the servant in, immediately he is greeted with a feeling of ambivalence. On the one hand, he's excited. What is it that Samuel could want with me? But on the other, he is greeted with the piercing stars of his jealous brethren. On one hand, there was life in the atmosphere, but on the other hand, there was the suffocation of malice and jealousy. How could two things possibly be in the same room? In the midst of this though, favor is being born. Favor is being forged. And it is there that Samuel makes his announcement. This is this is him. This this is him. This is I I I know I know what I know what I came here thinking, but this is not about what I thought. This is this is what what God had in mind because God doesn't pick like men pick. Aren't you thankful that God doesn't pick like men pick? I I I just can speak for myself. If if Hey, if it was men picking, I wouldn't be holding the mic tonight. If it was men picking, my name wouldn't be on a camp meeting. Come on. I it's the it's the blessings of God. It's the grace of God. It's the favor of God. I'm so thankful that God does not choose according to abilities. God does not anoint according to abilities. I'm thankful. Come on. Are you hearing me? I'm thankful that triumphs are not according to talents. I'm thankful that favor is not according to a family name. I'm thankful that you don't have to be a
God. That's him. That's That's him. And I don't want to get ahead of myself, but brother Tuttle, I'm thankful. How could I ever forget? I didn't come from a lineage of priests. I didn't come from a pastor's home. I don't want to ever forget the day that the hand of God rested itself on me and said, "That's him. I want to use him. I want to do something with him. I want Hallelujah." And God is still in the business of searching out the hungry and the humble. I believe he came to this camp meeting looking for somebody. No, not as man chooses, but he's looking for somebody to be the next vessel. Looking for somebody to be the next person. Come on. Is there anybody out there that says, "Pick me. Put your hand on me. Use me. Anoint me. And all of his five senses at this moment are on edge and alive. I It can't sons. How's this ever going to work? I iniquity. There there's there's stuff here. If if you if you want to comb through it, you're welcome to. But it doesn't matter to God. There there's there's some controversy. There's some cloudy stuff here. I'm thankful that God is not worried about all of that. Samuel and it was not a vial as it had been with the man that had preceded him, but this time it was a And as his knees stood there buckling underneath him, there was no way for David to measure of anticipation on his end the man's man who had the horn of oil. Because you see, it was just it was just a few hours ago that he was grieving the downfall of before. And God uncors Samuel uncors that horn of oil. And in the midst of all of those emotions and feelings that were running and raging in that room, that anointing oil begin to break atmosphere. It was a smell that he would forget. You don't forget moments like that. The aroma of that anointing oil began to room. And Samuel tipped up that horn. Hear me. I'm headed somewhere. He tipped up that horn and the oil began to run fingers. And that 15year-old boy or in that neighborhood, depending on what school of thought you come from, is standing there humbled with his head down. Come on. And the prophet begins to
head. That oil begins to coarse and run down, soak into the hair follicles and face. And the garments that he had on be to soak up. Are you hearing this, preacher? It began to sm it began to soak up the aroma of what was happening in that moment. David could smell it. Thou preparest the table before me in the presence of mine enemies. Thou anointest my head with oil. Come on. There's a ship. There's a ship that's about to embark. There's something that's about to leave the safety of the shallows right now. There's a life that's about to take off. Something's that oil began to soak down in that garment that me, but every man that preaches has preached before me. And me. They preach and we give them the liberty to preach as God has called them. You just let me move in the lane I'm comfortable with right now. I don't know, brother Tuttle, how many garments that David had. And I don't claim to be anywhere or anything like or anything akin to David. I'm striving for that. I only hope to be halfway eulogized as David was eulogized in the end. I'm striving for that. Okay? But I'll tell you this. I I know enough about my hunger and my pursuit of God that I love David. I'm just going to tell you, I think I think David was probably a little like or I'm a little bit like David was. I don't know how many garments he had, but I don't I doubt very seriously that that's one Albar. That's not a moment you want to forget. It's not one, brother Dikes, I want to put in a showcase somewhere. It's not one. It doesn't belong in a case, but that's a smell that I want to keep fresh in my close because let me tell you about the anointing. Let me tell you, you can get assignments all day long. Hallelujah. You may be capable or you may feel capable in your own strength, but I know my limitations. I know my insecurities and inferiority complexes. And I've come to tell you this right now. Assignment or no assignment, it's the anointing that helps us accomplish the assignment. I don't know about anybody else, but I refuse. And I don't believe that God has a problem with it. I'm not preaching without the anointing. I'm not praying without the anointing. I'm not having church without the anointing. I don't want to have song service without the anointing. I don't want to. You know why? Because it's not only the anointing that helps us accomplish our assignment, but the anointing breaks the yoke. I'm not playing a game. This is not a game. It's a kingdom. And I want the kingdoms of hell to be brought down and demolished.
And so I'm just looking at this through the way I've lived the last 26 years of ministry. Brother Carpenter, I don't believe that once David left out of that house that he let his mind be consumed with the scowls of his brethren. You know what I think he was just just a few days later. Come on. Somebody could say, "Well, how could he get over? How could he run out in that valley and fight a giant? How could he not even give any attention to his brothers looking at him and talking to him so disdainfully about the naughtiness in his heart?" I tell you why. He had started way back there at Jesse's house. I don't know why they're saying that, but God's going to help me. I don't know why they're talking like that, but God's going to help me. I don't know why they're spreading that, but God's going to help me. I don't know why they're besting my character, but God's going to help me. I don't know why they're lying on my wife, but God's going to help me. So he's not running this time. He's back. And the scales of his brethren loom large in his mind. aroma, I don't know why they hate me. I don't know why they're rising up against me. I don't know why they've taken swords up. I don't know why they I don't know why I don't know why they've said what they've said. I don't know why they misrepresented. I don't know why they there and he starts tending them sheep servant. Brother Holmes is one, bishop, this is on you. He told me to put my clock away, but I'm going I'm going to try my best to keep this under an hour. Here You confident people, I love you. Come put your hands on me and impart me. I mean, soon as I see the servant coming and the dust cloud from his feet bounds, I'm going like this. Oh, God. The current servant comes and says, "Hey, it's not the prophet this king? He's tormented by evil spirits and he's heard that you're skilled on a And somebody's got this idea, this wild idea that if you play your little song and sing your little tune that it will spirit. And I don't want to be misunderstood here because I think we ought to do everything skillfully. I don't think I don't think we should be sloppy. I think everything we do, we ought to put our best foot forward. But I'm going to tell you something. All the way to Saul's house with the uncertainty in David's heart, I think he was doing more than pulling garment. Evil spirits. It's the king. Not very many people have presence with the king. And you put the responsibility on me. I'm just telling. Can I just put
this plug in here right now? I thank God for our music. I've seen it progress. It's gotten better. I'm talking about in the last 5 years, it's gotten better. In fact, the world is looking at us. And that's fine. I want the world to look at us. But I'm telling you something right now. You better hear this preacher. We got people that are tormented. We got people that are tormented that are coming in our services. And the only way we're going to drive out tormenting spirits is we better be doing more than just getting the lyrics right. We better be doing more than just getting the chords right. David, I'm telling you, I see it in my mind's eye, Brother Tuttle. He's doing more than pulling cords on the way to Saul's house. He's pulling that coat to him, and he's smelling that anointing oil. God, if you don't help me, it ain't going to turn out good. God, if you don't anoint me, we can't fulfill this I want to be more than just certain of being on key. I want to know there's that it. Oh my god. You're not going to hear me right now. It puts the sheep to sleep. But we ain't dealing with putting sheep to sleep. We're dealing with a king that could have my head that's being tormented by spirits. Come on, you young preachers, hear me. I don't even know if I'm qualified for this right now. You need to delete. Come on, Chad. GPT and AI off of your phone. We've got to have somebody that'll get in a prayer closet. Come on. We can't be coming out here humming, striking cords. We don't need practice sermons. It's not by enticing words of man's wisdom. We need somebody that's got anointing oil. I hear way too much pre-ervice people humming making sure the keys right. I hear way too much pre-ervice striking cards. Come on. Making sure the band's right. Making sure the timing is right. I don't care if it's on the piano or in the pullpit. We better have something on us. This world is tormented. You know why we're here? We're here to set them free. We're not a church for us. We're a church for the people who aren't here yet. Somebody didn't like that, but I'm going to say it again. We're not here for us. We're here for the people who aren't here yet. And I'm seeing and hearing some stuff sheep, but it doesn't have the power to that. Few more days. Here comes another cloud. It's the pitter patter of another delivery man with another Hey, there's some stuff I want you to to your brothers at war. God, please don't misunderstand this preacher. I've been self-educating for 15 years. I I'm just I think we ought to do everything we can to better ourselves. I think David I think he was I think he was the best with a sling. I think he practiced with that sling. I don't think we ought to be putting people up or getting up here w with w without without without showing rightly dividing the word. I listen I I just let me make that clear right now. But but there's got to be a balance in
all of this. And and when David gets past all of Saul's armor and all that mess and I don't have time to preach all that, but as he's running through that valley, let me tell you something. He's doing more than stopping at a brook and getting five smooth stones. I tell you what else he's doing. He's grabbing that old coat again and he's saying, "You come to me." Come on. You come to me. You come to me with shields in spirit. Oh yeah. He's swinging that skilled swing, but he's sniffing that anointing oil. I come to you in the name I I know what Moses means. Brother "Okay, past stutter. I'll me, please stay with me. I'm headed quick. This is not something you preach five, 10 years into ministry. You got to have been in the trenches a while. Preach what I'm preaching tonight. And I still feel very much like novice. But there was still enough of left to invigorate him to sling the stone. giant. The book of Isaiah, there's an admonishment. There's an admonishment to up. The amplified which is a parenthetical statement really shines some light on this verse because as the admonishment is given to rise up at the same time the parenthetical statement of the amplified version says for there is there is an door. The admonishment that's given in this said rise up. There's an enemy at the door. It's time to move. It's time to go forth to battle. But the admonishment that's given is rise shields. Anoint the shields. What do you mean anoint the anointed. What do you What do you mean? It's time to go forth to battle. There's an enemy. There's an enemy that's about to attack. You've got to engage. You got to be ready. Anoint the shields because of the material that the shields was made of. Listen. Lean in and listen. The shields had to be oiled. The leather had to be oiled because over time over time the oil would wear away dry. I know my assignment here tonight. crack. And a dry shield. A dry shield. Brother, brother brother hair. A dry shield is a vulnerable shield. A dry shield loses, come on. It loses its malibility. It loses its
movement. A dry shield is vulnerable to mold and bacteria. A dry shield, those fiery darts that come. Listen to me. If the shield is dry, there's no oil to snuff out the fire. No. If the shield is flame. If the shield is oil, when the shield is hit, come on, it flexes. But if the shield is dry and brittle, oh, I hope somebody's hearing me. When it's hit, the impact, it cannot deflect the There is so much more going on there figuratively than an admonishment just to oil the shields. There's much more going on there than an admonishment for preparation for just just that one specific thing. It's not just shields that are vulnerable. It's not just shields that get dry and cracked. It's I want the I don't want to get ahead of myself here, but I want this great camp meeting to hear me right now. There is an enemy at the door. There is an opportunity at the door at the same time. Great great is the door. Great and effectual. But there are many adversaries. But I've come to tell us right now, we've got we've got to get a fresh touch. We need a fresh anointing. And so if you live for God any period of time at all and you find yourself grabbing that garment and favor, this will resonate with you. It's not just shields that dry them. And here's the deal. I wish I could tell you that just because the soldier and his shield dries out that stop. Are you hearing me? Just because the shield dries out doesn't mean the fiery dart stop. Just because the soldier dries out, just because the spirit of a man dries up, just because you're languishing tonight, does not raging. And we get brittle and we start cracking. And where we used to could easily deflect things, And where offense used to be, it's just an event. Offended is a choice. And when the shield is oiled, it's just an offense. Come on. It doesn't buckle the shield. It doesn't buckle the soldier. If there's that fresh smell of And I don't know where it was in the I do know, brother Epley, it was 25 years from the time that David stood in the presence of Samuel with that initial anointing. It was 25 years from that point until the time that David brought Jerusalem. There's no textbook for this. There's no syllabus for this. It's probably not the same for everybody, but
time. And what happens over time, and I'm not sure where this is h, and I I've looked at the timeline, and I've prayed about this, but there's no good place for it. And I want to guard against it. I don't know where David was in his life. Come on. We can assume, we can try to guess, but there's never a good time. I'm just telling you, 25 years is a long time. and going to get that ark after that stuff with Uza and somebody being struck dead. David grabs that garment tonight. I know when it's I know when it's not right. Brother Booker, as you say, I know when when the bell doesn't ring. I know I know when it doesn't click. I know I know when the harmony Listen what I'm telling you. You know it, too. Come on. And I'm not just going keep cuz when you look further down the timeline in David's life, you got too many things that's Hey, hey, y'all thought Flying Fish was a restaurant? Y'all like to go when you come in town? Uhuh. Flying Fish is the guy preaching tomorrow night. That's Flying Fish. So, I ain't got anything to worry about. I can do what I feel cuz Brother Fish has got this all under control. He's going to close this out on a high note tomorrow night. Let me be me and preach what I feel right now. 25 years. I want somebody to understand. Thank God for that initial anointing. Thank God for that. Thank God for that initial touch. But I want you to understand that he'll touch you again. He'll heal you. He'll He'll anoint you again. He'll bless you again. He'll let I don't know. I mean, I'm just surmising. Scholars surmise. They don't know where to fit it. In fact, a lot of them argue that David that it's even David's pen. But I'm telling you, they're wrong. If you look at Psalms 92 in all the Aramaic translations, they contributed to David's pen. It It's David's style. I believe David wrote it. I don't day. Maybe the fra maybe the fra the fragrance was fresh enough to get him past jealous brethren. Maybe the fragrance was fresh enough to get him past Goliath. I'm going to preach this right now. Maybe the fragrance was fresh enough. 13 years is the long time to dodge the javelins of a man wanting to Maybe that's what happened on the day. Maybe he reached down. Brother Bash time. It had been too long since he had If a if a you forgive the simplicity of this, I'm a simple preacher. If a car needs an oil change every 5,000 miles. Oh, I'm going to preach this right now. I'm gonna preach this right now. You know why it needs an oil change? If if you don't keep the oil change, things
get thick and heavy. It affects things. They don't just drain. Listen, they don't just drain the oil, brother Tuttle. They change the filter. Even Even preachers need the filter. I need God to change the filter on my mind. I need God to change the filter on my mouth. I need God to change the filter Because if you're not changing that oil, what happens is it not only breaks down the efficiency, come on, of that movement of that vehicle, but you're breaking down the engine. It's wear and tear. It's not any different on the soldier. You got to get in there every once in a while and let God change the oil. You got to let God change the filter. You got to let God drain things out of you. I I don't know. This is just my imagination. You're better with David than I am. He dodged the bullet before this. He He came He came so close. I'm talking about to cut him. That's too close. You know what that looks like to me? Maybe there was just enough. I don't want to dodge stabbing I don't think you heard that was heavy. I think I probably need to come over here and say that. I don't want to dodge Basheba. And I'm trying to save y'all. Come on. I'm trying to save somebody from the pain of what I'm preaching right now. There's others that could testify this. So, I'm running now to what I'm convinced that David wrote. I don't know where it's at in the story line. Come on. I hope I I I hope for you that it's sooner than later, but Psalms 92 and 92 and 10 says this, and this is my assignment for this meeting. This is why God sent me here. Come on. But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of a unicorn. Watch this. I shall be anointed with fresh oil. Thank God for what happened to me. I received the Holy Ghost at 5 and a half. Thank God for that. I was called to preach at an early age. Thank God for that cold February night in 1987. But at 45, I need a fresh touch. I need a new touch. I need a new experience. I need I'm about to resign my church. You don't need to resign. You need fresh oil. Well, I'm going to divorce my wife. You I'm going to preach right now. I feel the Holy Ghost up on me right now. You don't need a divorce. You need fresh oil. I'm going to get a lawyer. You don't need a lawyer. You need fresh oil. I'm going to take them to court. You don't need to go to court. You need fresh oil. I'm going to quit. You're not going to help me preach right now. Come on. I need somebody right down here to help me. Well, I'm just going to quit. I'm just going to backslide. You don't need to backslide. Come on. You need fresh oil. You need fresh oil. You need This marriage is not working. This whole
Oh, God help me. There's names coming to my mind and I don't want to embarrass anybody. There's some of you that come to this meeting and I'm not here to embarrass you and I'm not going to. But there's only one thing that God can't fix. You better hear this, preacher. He can fix that church problem. He can deal with that repbate. He can fix the money issues. He can fix the building issues. There's one thing he can't fix, and that's quitting. I've come to tell a missionary, "Don't quit. Get some fresh oil." I've come to tell a young person, "Don't quit. Get some fresh oil." I've come to tell a pastor's wife, "Don't cut your hair. Get some fresh oil. Don't get oil. I'm preaching to some of you that have become drug addicts. I'm going to preach this right now. Come on. You don't want nobody to touch your purse. You're not about to leave your purse anywhere cuz you're embarrassed about what's in it. You got to have pills of function there today. You got to have pills of function at night. My God, shame on you. You know what the problem is? You let you let the shield dry out. Come on. You don't need oxycottton. You need fresh oil. You don't need sleep aid. You need fresh oil. You don't need anti-depressants. You need fresh oil. The Holy Ghost let me know how serious this was tonight. There are some beautiful things that are about to bloom in churches and It's the most It's the most beautiful in my mind's eye. I don't know what kind of flower it is. It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen bloom in my mind's eye. But in prayer, I've been watching that thing wilt and disintegrate right here on the verge of everything you've lived for All because you're going to make a based on a dry shield. When God gave you an opportunity at Arkansas camp meeting, but rather than get deliverance, you wanted to keep your intact. Cuz we've created a culture in Pentecost that you're weak if you're struggling. We've created a we've created a culture in Pentecost. Saints, I apologize on behalf of the ministry. We fight things, too. I refuse. Paul Paul had a me too ministry. I refuse to lead you to believe that I'm different than you are. I have battles. I have fights. And I want you to understand just as just as much as the newest baby in this church needs a fresh touch of the Holy Ghost, let me tell you, I can get a bad attitude. I can get bitter. I can get brittle. I can I can backslide just as easy as a young person can. You I don't know where it happened. I don't know where to insert it. I don't know whether to lean in and hear the pain. I don't know chronologically. My God. Maybe it happened. Maybe it happened somewhere in the midst of all the junk 60s. When he's dealing with that stuff with Abselum, I sure hope to God he didn't wait that long. I sure hope that God this fresh oil came before his son fell fell lustfully sick for his half sister. Is somebody hearing me right now? I hope somewhere I'm preaching to somebody right now. I'm telling you there's a lot of this stuff that could be avoided in our life if we get up in here and say, "All right, God, it's me again." Come on. I've come to tell somebody there's more where that came from. If you need mercy, there's more where that came from. If you need
home. I find two main reasons of closing to why there would time, I'll just mention in passing. The Bible says that David time. There's a significance in that. You go home, you do the homework, you read it. There's a reason. He's on his deathbed and news gets back to and that Solomon's older brother is trying to Why are we so afraid? It's not weak to I should have asked your permission, brother Booker. I should have asked your permission, but I know you won't care. He made an impact on me many years ago. It was either 9 or 10:00 prayer meetings, I don't remember, but I was a really young evangelist and we would meet him over there in the old church to pray. And and I and I heard him pray this and I have never forgot it. And if brother Booker, one who we all esteem, feels this way, I heard him say in a moment, in a desperate moment, I don't know what he was going through, but my Lord, if if Brother Booker needs it, I need it. But I heard him say, "God, would you just come by here and pat me on the head today?" And I'm laying between a pew in the back of that building, and I'm like, "My God, if Larry Booker needs a pat on the head, who am I to beat myself up? Lord, touch me again. Feel me again. Re Re. The good Samaritan found a man half dead laying liberty? I know you didn't leave Jerusalem, but there's some people dead, laid in the ditch. Woo! Why would God Why would I need fresh oil? I'm going to tell you why you need fresh oil. I'm going to tell you why you need to why you need to pull up in there. Hey, and it may be more than a fiveminute job. You may need tonight. That good Samaritan pulled out that man out of that ditch half dead, which was that's what I pray that God's given me an anointing to do here tonight is to pull some people. Hey, half dead dead. Oh, I'm going to try that again. Somebody in the balcony didn't hear me. dead. Oh, maybe a preacher over here will help me. Half dead ain't all dead. And what did he do? He got that He got that man and he took that man with wounds. Come on. What did he use as a agent? Oil, oil, God. We need fresh
oil because there's some preachers wives and there's some saints. There's some preachers kids that come to this meeting because your parents made you come to this meeting that are half dead. But if we can get some fresh wounds. I know what they said. I know what they did to your mom and dad. Come on. I'm preaching to a mama right now. I know they tried to destroy your kids. I know how it's hurt your pocket. I'm preaching to somebody right now. You hear me? Suicide's not the answer. I'm preaching. I feel this right now. Cutting's not the answer. You better hear this preacher right now. Depression's not the answer. You know what you need to heal those wounds up? You need fresh oil. You need fresh oil. You need fresh oil. You need fresh tonight. If we had room, we'd have an oldfashioned healing line because it's fresh oil that takes half dead people, half dead burdens, half dead visions, half dead ministries, half dead anointings. Somebody's not hearing me. Half dead passion. Half dead confidence. I've come to preach to somebody about your confidence. Don't throw it away. It's half dead. If your confidence is, well, I don't even know if I'm cold. They've called me to cause me to. I tell you what you need. You need fresh oil. Fresh oil will heal it up. Fresh oil. I'm sorry. I I would never want to be an embarrassment. I'm sorry to be so No, I'm not sorry. I'm trying to help Well, is not only just a healing agent, but anytime back in those days, travel before they get ready to go somewhere. Anybody believe we're going Is it all right to use the word prophesy? It can't mean it. I feel the spirit of prophecy on me right now. I come against a stuck spirit. Some people have been stuck. Church has been stuck. preacher's been stuck. I believe there's a fresh oil here tonight that's going to unstick us. I'm going to try that one more time. I believe there's a fresh oil here that's going to unstick Before they'd go anywhere, they'd take it. Naomi told Ruth, "Oh, God. Thank you God. We've been preaching about David, but we got to you got to back. Boaz's fields, kinsmen, redeemers, all that. But Naomi told Ruth, said, "Before you go in The way they're fighting you, you better go home with something fresh. The way they're coming against you, you you you can't be trying to to depend on something from 10 years ago. You got to have something fresh. We're dealing with some We're dealing with stuff right now, Brother Varnell, that no generation before us has ever dealt with. And and and people are people are trying to do Oh, we're going somewhere. But I'm telling you, the only way we're going to get there is if we allow God to anoint
oil. You know what this fresh oil is for on this Monday night? It's because God has come to tell this camp meeting, we're not stuck. We're going somewhere. This is the year of the answered prayer. This is the year that prophecies are going to come to pass. This is the year that the prodal's going to come home. Somebody should have shouted right there. I said, "This is the year that What an story. There was a gallows. There was things in place to But what if we what if you knew tonight shot? You were going to have presence with him one time. Esther approached God that moment like she would never get that moment back. And what did the Bible say she did? It wasn't something that had sustained her through her childhood or through her fresh. Because when I feel this folks, when are you hearing me? When monumental moments when monumental moments are at You have exalted my horn. I shall be oil. I'm preaching to some people that's coming out of some of the worst stuff you've ever been through in your life. I don't know what you come to this meeting thinking you need or what what you come to this meeting thinking you want, but I've come need. It's the fresh oil that's going to heal you. And it's the fresh oil that's going to get you How does David overcome failure? I'm finished. How does David How does David accept God telling him, "No, you can't. You can't build it. Your hands are too bloody." How does he take that and still store up everything? Come on. I'm going to tell you. I'm going to tell you how he took it. How does he take the rejection of a prophet and a friend? I'm going to tell you because somewhere in the timeline, come on. He got a touch of fresh oil and he wasn't trying to he wasn't trying to track or trace an old touch in his path. I'm preaching to somebody. You got things waiting on you down the road. You got to get fresh oil. Come on. We're moving forward. We're God. I don't want to stay here. Maybe you like this. Wherever here is, maybe you like it. I don't I don't want to stay here. I'm fixing to find where the fresh oil is. Come on. I don't care. I don't care if I can't keep my pants pulled up. I don't care if I got to loosen my tie a little bit. I don't care
if my hair gets out of place. I need a healing. I need assurance. I need a new I need a fresh outlook. I need fresh vision. I need a fresh anointing. I need the Holy Ghost to overshadow me in Booker. cuz this brother Booker needs head. And when I went back to my trailer that day, I breathed a sigh of relief cuz it's okay to every once in a reassurance. There's a surge. I feel it. If you're not standing, stand. I'm finished. I'm not going to sensationalize this. I'm not pumping. I'm not priming. I have preached what God's given me. I have carried this. I have delivered it. I promise you there's many more preachers much more capable. I am humbled that they would ask me to ever preach this meeting. I've taken this very seriously. I've given you what I feel like the heart of God is for this Monday night service. And I'm telling you, if you will open your heart, you don't have to quit. You don't have to resign. You don't have to get a divorce. You don't have to commit suicide. You don't have to keep popping pills. You don't have to keep being angry. You don't have to be bitter. You don't have to live with a short. You don't have to scream and holler though. There's a there's fresh there's fresh oil. And here's what I want you to do. We're going to do this real simply. Thank you, whoever said that earlier in the service. I thought, how are we going to do this? There's no space to do anything. Maybe it was brother Jennings. Someone said we had airspace. Thank God for hands? I know typically when we raise our hands, folks, I don't know how I don't really know what's fixing to happen. I don't know how this is I don't know when this surge hits. I I don't know. I don't know. I I feel like somebody's going to be healed instantaneously. You don't have to come tell me. I'm just telling somebody what I know right now. Those migraine headaches, that is that's spirit. That is spiritual. And when you get fresh oil tonight and you walk out of this building, you're never going to have another one of those migraine headaches again. That chronic backache is going to leave this. Not all chronic back pain is spiritual. I'm speaking of some things right now that you're going to be healed. You've been in spiritual warfare. You've been in the trenches. You've been in a battle, but I've come to tell you, we're not staying stuck. There is a fresh oil that's coming to us. We are moving up and out of this into new territory. God. All right.
