Summary
Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.
God Has an Ultimate Plan
- He opens thankful for what God has done at CAC and for what he is going to do, looking at the year ahead with anticipation that God has something in store.
- A crew will be constructing — not destructing — behind him as he preaches, a living picture of building according to a plan.
- His theme, laid on his heart months earlier as he closes out the year: God has an ultimate plan, a plan for every life.
The Blueprints: A Dream That Had to Be Built Right
- He holds old blueprints from an uncle who flew in Korea and dreamed of building a single-prop airplane: the prints are dated 1971 and were only finally approved in 1977.
- The build required many requests, discussions, and changes; certain screws could only be used in certain places, and things had to be just right.
- The plane was actually built, it flew, and it was finally sold in 1991 — all because a driven man had a dream and followed the plan.
- Getting the plan took a long process; he says he will not walk through all of it, but the plan itself is worth talking about.
From Noah to David: God Gives the Plan
- Noah was first told to build an ark and only later given the plan — how many cubits, and how it would be structured; most of us would not even know what an ark is.
- Moses was told to create a dwelling place for God and was given a plan in his hand; David wanted to build God a house, but God stalled him and said Solomon would build it — and God gave a plan.
- Where there is a plan it brings unity and order; a plan is sketched and drawn out, with standards put in place.
- Like engineers walking a factory line watching the processes and where injuries happen, God was putting processes in place from the very beginning.
Jeremiah 29:11: Thoughts of Peace and an Expected End
- He reads the opening text aloud with the congregation: God's thoughts toward his people are thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give them an expected end.
- From the very beginning of time God had a plan; he had his mind on us the whole time and does not want us to slip up, fail, or fall.
- Each and every person today: God has a plan for your life, and in that plan you can find unity and order, because his plan is perfect.
Scriptures: Jeremiah 29:11
Matthew 16: Revelation Is the Foundation
- In Matthew 16 Jesus asks his disciples who men say he is; they answer John the Baptist, Elias, Jeremas, or one of the prophets.
- Peter answers by revelation: 'Thou art the Christ, the son of the living God' — and Jesus says that is what he is looking for, not just what other men say.
- Upon that revelation he will build his church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
- To tear down the gates of hell in your life, turn back to what God has promised and what God has showed you.
Scriptures: Matthew 16
Man Devises His Way, but God Directs: Follow the Instructions Step by Step
- The Proverbs citation he gives says man devises and sets out and plans his ways, but God knows the plan he has for your life.
- It is okay to note your own plans while the Lord has not yet spoken — but do not be disturbed when God says, 'That is not what I wanted.'
- The builders in front of the congregation have an instruction sheet naming each bolt and package and the exact part of the structure it belongs to; step one, step two, step three followed in order makes the work easier.
- So many times we think we have it all figured out, and our coming short may trace to a missed step — a couple of bolts in step two, a brace forgotten in step three.
Scriptures: Proverbs 6:9
Acts: The Pattern Given at Pentecost
- In the book of Acts we find the story and the setting: Jesus was taken away and left his disciples with instructions — a pattern they were to follow — telling them to wait for the demonstration.
- Gathered in the upper room in one place on the day of Pentecost, in reflection and prayer, they heard suddenly a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind; plans bring unity, order, and understanding.
- Peter stands and delivers the instructions given to him: repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
- The promise is not just to a certain group — it is unto whosoever will; where people are praying and asking God what to do to be saved, he will show up in the middle of it.
Scriptures: Acts (book-only, as spoken)
A Prayer Room They Could Not Shut Down
- In his hometown, a small group holding a prayer meeting in a traditional church — a place of statues and rituals — began to feel God show up in the room, and one shut down because she did not understand what was happening inside her.
- His dad was called in, and with wisdom and prayer they met with the group; when the Holy Ghost broke out in that room the people did not understand it, but they felt it, and through teaching a group developed.
- When their leader moved to shut it down, the group still came to the service and kept meeting; it began to grow.
- Once God has given you the plan and you have it in hand, there is no going back and no returning — unity comes when the body of Christ understands God's plan together.
Patience, the Altar, and the Closing Blessing
- Paul adjoined himself to Timothy and passed him the instructions in hand — through Paul's writings and letters Timothy learned how to construct and take care of church; He applies it directly: this is how we are to have church.
- Have patience with what God is doing; do not rush the things of God or try to push through to get there tomorrow — Peter, by character study, had no patience and would grab a sword, yet God calls us to patience with his plan.
- There is nothing in this world worth losing your soul over; get yourself into a prayer room, get on your knees, and ask, 'God, what is it that you want from me?'
- Calling the room to stand in unity of faith, he urges people to the altar to get it right so the next generation can be right — to have a road map from God to pass on to their children and to be people whose children can hear them pray.
- He reprises the promise in another rendering — God knows the plans he has for you, plans to prosper you and not to hurt you, plans to give you hope and a future — and encourages those who have questioned their instructions to draw close: follow the plan and you will not fail, though the road will not be easy.
- He closes by leading the congregation in the spoken blessing over the children of Israel and dismissing them: 'God bless you in Jesus name.'

God bless you. You may be seated just for a little bit and maybe you want to stand with me. Like pastor always says, you don't have to, but I truly am thankful for what God has done and what he's going to do here at CAC. I just thank the Lord for what he's doing in our lives. Amen. Amen. This year has been such a it's been a we have shifted. There has been moves. There has been growth. Amen. There has been all kinds of things happening in our life. And I'm just thinking to myself, what is going to happen this year 2026? What what are we going to see?
Amen. But I think we can look at it with anticipation that God has something in store for us. How many you know that? Amen. But God bless you for being here today. I am so thrilled to be able to um share with you again today um some things that God has laid on my heart and uh I want to share this with you today. Amen. I have some guys that's supposed to be back here doing some things and you will see them. Yeah. I I want you just you don't have to pay a whole lot of attention to them right now, but they're going to be uh they're going to be constructing, not destructing.
Um they're going to be constructing some things. And I I really something that the Lord laid on my hearts several months ago. um knowing that uh I would be closing this year out and some things that I feel in my heart today. But I I want to start off with just how many you know that God has he has an ultimate plan? He has a plan. And I I think that it would be uh I was looking through all of my I told my wife I said I got to find it. But in my hand, I hold um these old blueprints. And these old blueprints started I have a date on them.
Started in uh 1971. Uh so let's need needless to say they would have to go back through uh some some powerful hands in order for us to reuse these. Um as we well know about blueprints, right pastor? But I have a picture that uh it gives this here is is a aeroplane. These these particular prints belong to an uncle of mine and uh when he passed my my aunt brought them to me and says I wonder if you would like these. And knowing the story behind them I said uh yes. He started this project in 71 and he started it by applying to because he was in aviations he he was back in the Korea days.
Does anybody know about? So he flew in Korea and so he came home and he had of course he had a lot of ideas of what he wanted to do but this is a single prop here and uh if anybody knows anything about what I'm saying there it means there's one there's one engine and and so he he started this project and as he started this project he begins to uh get requests and he he has all of these engineering ing buddies that's with him and they're trying to get approval. I did notice in here that it was finally approved in 1977. It's quite some time between the time that you started it until the time you finished it.
He uh and that was just for the prince, mind you. Of course, he had began the work on the actual structure of the plane. And I know that just by listening to some of the stories that there was a lot of things that had to be changed. There was a lot of things that had to be adapted and and and there was a lot of things that uh there was certain screws that could only be used in certain places on this plane. There was things that had to be just right. And so I listen to these stories and then I come to find out this actual plane uh was actually built.
It actually flew and then when he landed the plane he took it and crded it up. In 1991 it was finally sold. But all of this was because he had a dream. He had a dream of what he wanted to do and he was a very driven person. Um, he had this project and he had other projects. But I I I pulled this out today because I wanted to just I wanted to talk to you about the plan. About the plan. You see, there was a lot of there was a lot of requests that were put in about the plan. There was a lot of things that was discussed about the plan.
There was a lot of things that had to take place in order to get the plan. And and as I began to think through all of the all of the process, and I'm not going through the process today because I think some of you it would bore you and then some of it would probably shock you about some of the some of the things that had to take place to get the plan. But but I'm not going to go through all of that process. But I do think it's it's worthy of talking about in what we have been talking about over the last year. You see, even before we begin to talk about the tabernacle, we had Noah.
Noah was told to build an ark, but Noah did not have the plan yet. He was just told what to do. And then later on je the Lord would give him the plan. He would tell him how many cubits and he would go through how that that would be. And God gave him the plan. And then when we had what we've been talking about Moses, Moses is told to give God a dwelling place. He's told him to create this dwelling place for him that he could come and be with the people of God. And now Moses has a plan in his hand. We move on down into First Colossians, we find where David wants to build God a house.
Of course, God stalled him on that and said, "No, we're going to let Solomon build that for you." And God gave a plan. I I I'm here to talk to you today on plan, the plan that God has for us. You see, I I as I began to compile all of this, I couldn't help but notice that when there is a plan that it brings unity. When there is a plan, it brings order. Begin to look at the definition of that. it is sketched out or or or taken and drawn out and and you have taken and and now in our day that we live in and how many you know anything about manufacturing I know we've got a lot of these guys in here but in manufacturing what do you call that what would you call it but these they would put together standards, right?
You go through and if you were out at uh let's just use this one because we live here in Chattanooga. If you was to go out to Volkswagen, uh you would find that there would be these engineers that's constantly walking up and down the line and these guys are looking at the processes in place. They're looking at how things are structured and how that you're putting things together. And if they see that you're you're using that wrist a little too much, what do they do, Josh? They say, "Hey, we need to fix this because there's something wrong with the process. They watch how many injuries they have.
They watch where those injuries are located." And and and I'm saying all that to say this. I think that some of you guys can uh you can understand what I'm talking about is is that that there has to be processes put in place. THIS IS WHAT GOD WAS doing from the very beginning. He was putting together because how many you know if if the Lord had spoke to you and said go build an ark. What are we doing? The majority of us would look at each other and say ah I don't even know what an ark is. Right? But we would be looking at how this is to be structured.
I want to take your attention to the word of the Lord. Jeremiah the 29th chapter verse 11. Jeremiah 29 11. I want you to read that with us folks. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you sayeth the Lord. thoughts of what and not of to give you an expected end. From the very beginning of time, God had a plan. He had his thoughts on how your life should end up. He had his mind on you and I the whole time. Inside of that, he says, "I don't want you to slip up. I don't want to see you fail. I don't want to see you fall because I have a plan for your life." Each and every one of us today, God has a plan for your life.
God has a plan to to actually show you how that in a plan you can find unity. You can find order. Why? because it's something that God God has a perfect plan. He has a perfect plan. Matthew the 16th chapters puts it this way and many of you could probably quote these verses but Jesus is with his disciples. The scripture says that on in verse 13 it says when he had come to the coast of Cesaria Philippi he asked the disciples saying whom do men say that I the son of man am? They replied and said some say that you're John the Baptist. Some say Elias.
Some say uh Jeremas. And there's some that even says that you were one of the prophets. Jesus says, "Who do you say I am?" Peter, he piped up and says, "Thou art the Christ, the son of the living God." You see, there was something there was there was something that was given to Peter. There was a revelation that was given to him. There was something that was shared with him. And he says, you know, others say, and this other one will say, and then sometimes they'll come along and say, "Hey, I got a I got a new something here I want to show you." But yet Jesus turns to him and says that right there is what I'm looking for.
It's not just it's just not another plan. It's not just what other men say. It is a revelation that you've received. And he says, "Upon that I am going to build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." You don't You want to know how to turn tear down the gates of hell in your life? Turn back to what God has promised. Turn back to what God has said in your life. Turn back to what you have that God has showed you. So many times I think that in my own life I there's been times that I I have as the scripture would say and we find that in Proverbs sorry media I did not put this in there.
Proverbs 6 and9 says that that man devisth the way. He He sets out and plans his ways, but God knows. God knows what his plan is for your life. It's okay for you to sit down and say, "Well, the Lord hadn't spoke yet, but I'm going to start noting this." Go ahead, note it. Note it. It's okay. But don't be don't don't be disturbed about it when God said, "You know what? That's not what I wanted. I I have asked these gentlemen here. They are putting and I I see they're help dad. They're helping you. I I I have here before you and and I knew they weren't going to get this thing together.
How how many This is Christmas time, folk. How many of you fathers, you understand what we're talking about here? If you got more than one child, you understand this. You've at least put one of these together or something like this. But in front of us, we've got all of these these packages and and he he he's showing them. And not notice how that they're moving around and they and he's trying to get one of them's attention inside this. There is a plan. I will say that there has been I will be guilty be the first to admit there has been times that I threw this to the side.
But this one gives instructions on what particular bolt. And they have G, B, A, D, H. And they show those bolts and they show exactly what package it's coming in. They show what particular part of the structure that he's going to be using. And if we follow this step one, step two, step three, if we follow it according to what it says, not saying it won't be worked, but what I am saying it's going to be easier. So many times we get it in our heads that we can get this thing together. There's so many things in our life that we think that we have it all figured out.
Folks, I I I I'm I'm speaking to myself today as well. There's so many things that we come short in life and we wonder why has it happened this way? Have you ever thought for a moment that it could have been that step two I missed a couple of bolts? Step two, I forgot that one brace that I missed. Step three, you know, I I I just didn't quite get it. I'm here to tell you today that God has a plan for our lives. He has a plan for our lives. In the book of Acts, we find the story. We find the setting. Many of you that are in this room, we understand we're apostolics, right?
Amen. Do I have any apostolics in the room? is we understand that there was a day that after the Jesus had been with his disciples for x amount of time 33 years the scripture tells us that that that he decides to part he has taken away he has left the disciples with instructions he tells them to go ye thank you brother Vandy for what you're teaching in these classes go ye into all the world he tells them instruct instructions he gives them the pattern that they are to follow and after they're they're dispersed he tells them to go I want you to go and wait because I'm going to demonstrate this to you I'm going to give you a demonstration and I want you to follow this demonstration And he takes and he they gather in this upper room.
The scripture says they gather on the day of Pentecost. The scripture tells us when the day of Pentecost was fully come. They were what? One place. What did we say that instructions bring? What did we say plans bring? Brings unity. It brings order. It brings understanding. They're in this upper room now. I I I don't know how that all set. I don't really understand. I mean, we've studied it and studied it, but they're all sitting around. I I just feel like it it was a time of reflection and prayer and saying, "God, I need to get myself right. I need to I need to get in your will.
I need to find out exactly what you have for me. I know what you said, but I I need this right for me. And as they sat in that upper room asking God to come and visit them, the scripture says that suddenly there came a sound. Something took place. The sound from heaven came as a rushing mighty wind. Now we've got Peter. He stands up and says, "This is the instructions that I've been given to give to you." He says to repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
And he said this promise is not just to a certain group. The plans is not just to a certain group, folks. I I firmly believe this with all my heart. There are names scattered across this city. There's names that are above these doors of different churches. I will tell you this, that promises unto them as well. That promise is unto whosoever will. You find me a prayer room somewhere and people praying and saying, "God, what can I do to be saved?" He's going to show up in the middle of it. Oh, glory. I I I'm going to share something personal with you. Um, in my hometown, this has been many years ago, but in my hometown, there was a group, they had statues in their church.
They had all of these rituals that they would do. And there's nothing wrong with having rituals, folks. I think we should call prayer meetings. And I think it should be you get yourself to the house of God. I believe that. But they that's what they lived for is they lived for those. And my dad was called. There was a particular group. I think there was four people at the time, but they were having a prayer room, a prayer meeting in a little room at the church. And their their leader had given them permission to have this prayer meeting. And as they begin to pray, God begins to show them something in the spirit.
God showed up and one of them literally felt something going on inside of them and shut down because they didn't understand it. But they knew that there was some people that understood stuff like that. Do you hear me say stuff? And so they called and with much wisdom and prayer went and met with the group. It had already started growing because there was something happening. And as they began to pray and they began to seek God, God shows up in this traditional place. Mary's okay. You can be in the room, Mary. You can be in the room, Mary. This is about Jesus. And God begins to show up in that room.
And I will never forget when the Holy Ghost broke out in that room that those people did not understand, but they felt it. And as through teaching, there was a group that that that developed out of that group. And then all of a sudden, their leader got a hold of it. And he said, "Oh, we got to shut this down. That's okay. We'll still come to the service, but if you'll let us, we'll still have ours out here. It won't mess things up." And it it began to grow. Let me tell you something. You can you cannot God has a plan. You cannot hold back.
Once you have once you have a plan, have the plan in hand. Once you have what God has for you, once you have what God has shared with you, there is no going back. There is no going back. No returning. Why? Because God has given me the instructions. Oh, as a body of Christ, unity comes when we get together and we begin to understand God's plan. All of this can come together as long as we understand the plan. But you put the plan aside and you can't you cannot construct this. You cannot bring this up. Oh, you may say you got it, but what are you getting it with?
God has a plan for each of our lives. Peter stood up that day and he proclaimed the plan that God laid out. Later on, we would find Paul, one of those that preaches the gospel. He would adjacent himself to a man called Timothy here. Is what we're talking about. Notice little questions going on and they're not quite understanding it. But he's got the he's got the instructions in his hand. He's got the instructions and he says, "Son, here's what you need to do." Timothy would learn from Paul's writings and the letters that he would get from Paul. This is how we construct and and take care of church.
This is how we're to have church. This is how we're supposed to do this. May I tell you that we have to have patience sometimes. We have to have patience with what God is doing. Don't rush the things of God. Don't rush what God is trying to do in your life. Don't try to push through it and say, "We got to get there and we got to get there tomorrow." No, you wait on God. see what God is up to. I am sure Peter's one of those people and it's been several years now, but I did a a character study on all of these guys.
That's something for all of you. Those of you that like to study, do a character study on each one of them. Let me tell you something. Peter did not have patience. You can definitely tell it. I mean, somebody gets to Smart Mountain, he's going to grab a sword and he's going to get up and do something. That's just the character. But you can take this as part of it is is that God says, "Hey, I want you to have patience with what he's trying to do." What What is it that he's trying to do? These young men up here trying to put this thing together, Dad.
Don't know how they're going to do it. I really don't. But you you you'll get them there one day because there's coming a day. There's coming a day when all of that's going to come to pass. Everything that God has spoken, everything that God has planned, it'll come through and it'll come through and he'll you'll find yourself in a place with God. Let me tell you something. There is not a thing that is in this world worth losing your soul over. There is not a thing in this world that that says this is a better way. There is not a thing in this world that says that you're going to you you just just hang in there.
We're going to get you there. No, you got to find yourself a prayer room. You got to get on your knees. You got to say, "God, what is it that you want from me? What is it that we read it from the very beginning? God has a plan. He has thoughts and he has a plan for your life. He knows exactly where you need to be. He knows what you need to be doing. What you've got to do is get yourself in a position and say, "God, what is it that you want from me? What is it that you need from me? What is it that I need to be giving to you, Lord Jesus?
Help me, God. Help me, Lord Jesus, to follow the plan. Follow the plan." I want you to stand with us right now or really feel this in the Holy Ghost that God wants a unity of faith in this place right now. He wants a unity of faith. He wants you to come in one mind and one accord across this room. Would you begin to pray with me that God, whatever it is, whatever it is that I need to be doing. Whatever it is that I need to be doing, I need this in my life. I need you, God. I need you to be doing some things.
I need you to clean out some stuff. I need you. I I'm telling you, God has a plan for your life. Every one of you. I want every one of you to look at me. God has a plan. And it may not be tomorrow. It may not be the next day. But if you'll hold on to the plan, just my uncle took this one right here. Took him a while to get it get it all fine print. Everything that the men said the the upper said it needed to happen. It may take you a little bit, but I I promise you if you'll go to the Lord, he's going to give you something.
He'll give you something and that something will be a map to show you how to get to that heavenly place. I'm telling you folks, God God's coming again. I I I heard pastor said it this morning. This just might be. This just might be. God, I want to be ready to meet you. Those of you that have children, do you have something that you can pass on to them? Do you have do you have something that you could pass to them that says this this is the road mapap that God's given me. This is what God has showed me. This is what God has given me to give to you.
Can they hear you pray, folks? Can can your children hear you pray? Why don't you lift your hands across this room every right now in the name of Jesus? I feel that it's time for somebody to make their way to this altar. And if you feel that that churning inside of you that something God, you're trying to you are trying to get me to a place. I I I want you to get to this altar as fast as you can. I I I want you to get here because you need to get it right so that you can have it right for the next generation, folks.
God, help me. Help me to get it right. Help me to get it right. Lord Jesus, help me, Lord Jesus, to get this thing right. God, you have given, you've got a plan for my life, and I want to follow through with that plan. I want to follow through with it. God, teach me your ways. Let me know what you're you're saying inside of me, what you're doing inside of me. Teach me your ways, oh God, teach me your ways. Hallelujah. God, above all, I must be saved. Oh God, teach me. God, teach me thy paths. Teach me. God in the name of Jesus. If it's appropriate, why don't you reach over and grab the hand of somebody next to you.
Put your hand on their shoulder. And I want us to pray together right now across this room. God, I need you, Lord. Show me the plan that you have for my life, oh God. Show me the plan in the name of Jesus. In the name of Jesus. One version of the scriptures puts it this way. I know the plan I have for you, declareth the Lord. Plans to prosper you, not to hurt you. Plans to give you hope and a future. Would you take that to heart today? He said he knows the plans that he has for you. A plan. He wants to see you in his light.
He wants to see you in his light in the name of Jesus across this room. Lord God, whatever it is that you have for me, Lord Jesus, to do, let me gladly take that and do that accordingly in the name of Jesus. In the name of Jesus. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. What path are you want to take? Scripture says as a man he devisth his ways but God knows what path he needs to take. What path are you going to take today in the name of Jesus? Lift your hands again across this room. God, lead me, guide me, direct my path. Oh God, show me the plans that you have for my life.
Show me what you have for my life, oh God. God, oh, you've given us the instructions, God, we know what we need to do. Hallelujah. I will say this in closing. There may be some of you that are here today and the reason I say this is because it's just an impress an impression that I have. You may have you may have questioned some of the some of the instructions you've been given. I'm here to tell you today that if you'll draw in close to him, God's got a plan for your life and if you will follow that plan, you will not fail. Didn't say that the road is going to be easy.
He's always going to be there for you and you will not fail. There's many that are in the scriptures that we could talk about their lives as as how that things would get rocky and it would get rough, but they held on to the promises of God. They held on to the instructions that he gave them, the plans that he gave them. And if you'll hold on to God's promises, you'll find that his promises will always be true and he'll always be there for you. Would you lift your hands once again across this room in the name of Jesus? God, I hold fast to your promises.
I hold fast to what you have said in your word. I hold fast to what you have promised in your in your giving, God. the things that you have asked of us, God. In the name of Jesus, in the name of Jesus, in the name of Jesus, hallelujah. Hallelujah. In the name of the Lord. Hallelujah. I want us to pray our prayer together. Folks, God's not through with you yet. You'll take this and I know you're going to, as the old saying goes, you're going to chew on this a while. But I want us to pray our prayer together. Would you pray it with us?
The Lord bless thee and keep thee. The Lord make his face shine upon thee, be gracious unto thee. The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace, and thou shalt put thy name upon the children of Israel. I will call them blessed. God bless you in Jesus name.
