Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

The Woman with the Issue of Blood

  • The text is Matthew 9:19: Jesus, returning from delivering the man called Legion, is on his way to the house of Jairus, whose twelve-year-old daughter is sick, when he encounters a woman who has had a sickness for twelve years.
  • The woman was diseased with an issue of blood for twelve years and came behind Jesus to touch the hem of his garment, saying in her heart that if she could just touch it she would be made whole.
  • Her hemorrhaging condition was a hidden plague — not as apparent as leprosy, blindness, or a withered hand — that could be superficially concealed for a while, though signs like the dark circles under her eyes would ultimately give her away.
  • When she touched the hem of his garment the flow of her blood stopped immediately, and Jesus felt virtue, or power, go out of him — the touch of someone with a need unlike the others pressing around him drew power out of him.

Scriptures: Matthew 9:19

Healing and Restoration: What the Loss of Blood Cost Her

  • There are facets of healing: one is simply that the pain is stopped and life goes on, but the second is restoration — Jesus told the woman her faith had not only stopped the flow of blood but made her whole.
  • Her loss of blood produced weakness, because the life of the flesh is in the blood, and losing blood weakens the flesh.
  • The condition left her unable to reproduce — barrenness — and poverty-stricken, having spent everything and taxed her resources to the limit searching for an answer.
  • She also suffered the humiliation of separation from participation in worship: she could not go to the temple, join the congregation, or go to sacrifices because of the condition in her body.
  • The title is announced: 'It's still an issue of blood' — what is seen in the world today is a result of the loss of the blood.

Altars Disappear, and Satan Attacks the Blood First

  • In recent decades there has been a cultural shift in the religious climate; Satan is no longer subtle as he was in the garden but blatant in the last days, and lines have been drawn in the sand.
  • True altars have disappeared out of churches — not the furniture, but the altar of sacrifice where people humble themselves and kneel before God in submission; Satan has perverted even kneeling into an act of defiance toward anything but himself.
  • In the first chapter of Job, Job comes before the Lord sacrificing because his children may have sinned, but the first thing Satan attacked was his flocks and herds.
  • If the flow of the blood can be stopped, the relationship with the Lord can be cut off — before Job could be attacked, his bloodline, his means of worship, had to be stopped.

Scriptures: Job 1

The Blood Vanishes from Religion's Vocabulary

  • Churches have traded the power of God for political correctness, the anointing for acceptance, and the message of the gospel of salvation for a social gospel powerless to change anyone.
  • Religions have removed the blood from their vocabulary, preaching, and in some cases their Bibles, because talking about the blood of Jesus Christ means talking about the sin of man; the old songs about the blood — the fountain filled with blood, the blood that will never lose its power — have likewise disappeared.
  • This loss of blood has produced barrenness and weakness in churches: after 9/11 people flocked back to church but left just as quickly, finding the furniture rearranged, and much of religion has a form of godliness while denying the power thereof.
  • The two and a half tribes who went back across Jordan built an altar with no blood and no fire on it — they wanted to look like a church and maintain an appearance without sacrifice — but where there is a false there is a true, and there is still a church that believes in the same fire and the same blood, cannot settle the sin question any other way, and believes what God imputes to a person is greater than what nature imparts.

Not Atonement but Removal: The Better Way of Jesus' Blood

  • The New Testament message is not atonement — a word that does not occur in the New Testament; atonement was Old Testament, putting sins in a box, covering them with a lid, and sprinkling blood on it.
  • The writer to Hebrews says there is a better way: the blood of bulls and goats could never take away the sin of man, but what their blood could not do, the blood of Jesus did — their blood merely covered sins; Jesus' blood takes them away.
  • The ark and the old name had to disappear because God was doing a new thing with a better name and a better blood: the angel said to call his name Jesus, because he would save his people from their sins, not cover them up.
  • God does not merely forget sins — there is no ignorance in omniscience — the blood eradicates them: when a person is baptized for the remission of sins the blood washes them away, and if any man be in Christ he is a new creature, transformed like a butterfly in metamorphosis.
  • Prodigals coming home must not have their past remembered against them by the church, and sin cannot be educated, counseled, or rehabilitated out of people — nothing but the blood of Jesus can wash away sin and make a person whole again.

Scriptures: Hebrews (book-only, as spoken)

What the Blood of Jesus Does

  • In Ephesians 1:7, in Jesus we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins — a past that is gone and a person pronounced righteous, a new creation.
  • Romans 5:9 gives justification: much more, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
  • Hebrews 13:12 gives sanctification — Jesus suffered that he might sanctify the people with his own blood — and 1 John 1:7 gives continual cleansing: walking in the light, the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us.
  • Colossians 1:20 gives peace, made through the blood of his cross, reconciling all things to God, and Ephesians 2:13 gives relationship: those who were afar off, without hope and outside the covenant, are made nigh by the blood of Jesus Christ.

Scriptures: Ephesians 1:7; Romans 5:9; Hebrews 13:12; 1 John 1:7; Colossians 1:20; Ephesians 2:13

Redeemed into the Priesthood by Precious Blood

  • In the Old Testament a firstborn son was redeemed with five shekels of silver taken to the priest, an empty ceremony that exempted the firstborn from the priesthood God had given to the Levites.
  • Peter said believers were not redeemed with corruptible things such as silver and gold from their vain conversation received by tradition from their fathers.
  • The New Testament reverses the old pattern: believers are not exempted from the priesthood but redeemed into it by the blood of Jesus Christ — a chosen generation, a peculiar people, a royal priesthood.
  • His blood was precious blood — not type A, B, AB, or O — and the church endures because of the blood.

Victory by the Blood That Never Loses Its Power

  • Revelation 12:11 says they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they loved not their lives unto death — the answer to the current issue of blood is still the blood.
  • The blood is incorruptible — not subject to the laws of entropy, decay, or fading — as powerful today as when it was shed on Calvary, and it will remain so until he takes this blood-bought church out of this world.
  • Though politics, economics, and the foundations of religion have been shaken from their moorings, the church has been put on a course for eternity, and he will be seen coming on a white horse with a vesture dipped in blood.
  • The sermon closes with thanksgiving for the blood: the congregation is urged to thank God for his blood, for every bit of it that has covered their lives, their sin, and their past, resting in Jesus and standing on the promise of his blood.

you may be seated for now in matthew the 9th chapter verse 19 jesus came back from the coast of gadara where he had just delivered the man we know as legion from a legion of demons he crosses the sea and comes back to his land and there he is met with a throng of people among them a man by the name of jairus who was a ruler of the synagogue and he had a daughter who was 12 years old and she was very sick and so he invited jesus to his house jesus was on his way to the house of jairus when he uh to to heal a 12 year old with a disease when he encountered a woman with a 12-year sickness or disease or malady and so uh the scripture in matthew the nine chapter verse 19 says it this way jesus arose and followed him and so did his disciples and behold a woman which was diseased with an issue of blood

12 years came behind him and touched the hem of his garment so it was not as as apparent this woman had intended fully i believe to come up to jesus touch him because she said in her heart if i can just touch the hem of his garment i will be made whole the the malady with which she suffered was not as apparent as that of leprosy it wasn't as apparent as that of blindness which he had healed it wasn't as apparent as a physical deformity such as a withered hand or arm that jesus had healed it was a hidden plague that this woman suffered from this hemorrhaging condition it was a loss of blood it was a hidden plague that she suffered from it could be superficially concealed if she so desired people just wouldn't know that she suffered from this malady because it was not something that was readily apparent and so she could achieve a at least some some measure of normalcy among

her peers but so severe this would only go on for so long because this particular malady this hemorrhagic condition where she was losing the blood from her body on a continual basis it would ultimately result in people noticing things about her she would have the black circles under her eyes that would tell them that there was something wrong with her and so it can be concealed for a while but ultimately it was going to be found out and it was so severe that she finally had done so much in her life to try to rid herself of this condition she finally says if i can just get to jesus i know that i can be made whole he can heal this condition and so she made her way through the crowd to where jesus was she she came and she found herself finally through the crowd at the feet of jesus and she reached out and she touched the hem of his garment the bible

says that immediately the flow of the blood was stopped she stopped losing the blood and and but but there was something about this touch jesus was drained of his own power because he said i felt virtue or power go out of me there are some things that are so severe that the power of god it literally will will will um pull the power of god out of him you can touch him in such a way with such a condition that it will pull the power out of him i believe that when jesus turned around he asked them who touched me they said lord there are so many people around you touching you what do you mean he said no this was different i literally stumbled i felt the power i felt my own life force affected by this malady somebody touched me with a need unlike the other people that are pressing around me listen to me today i believe there are four facets of

healing that take place one of them is simply a healing something needs to be checked the pain needs to be stopped and you can go on with your life but the second facet of healing is that of restoration when jesus turned to this woman he said your faith has not only stopped the flow of the blood it has made you whole there had to be a restoration of certain things in her life because the results of this disease were devastating she would have four things particularly going on here in her life she would be in a continual state of weakness because the bible says that the life of the flesh is in the blood if you are anemic if you are losing blood if your blood is weak you will be weakened in the flesh this woman would suffer from weakness hear me today because i'm going somewhere with this she would res the result of this loss of blood and i believe in my

my title today is simply this it's still an issue of blood it's still an issue of blood what we need today is to realize that the things that we are seeing around us it's all a result of the loss of the blood she would suffer from weakness because of this this condition she would be unable to reproduce she would suffer from barrenness because of this condition she had impoverished herself she had spent everything she had taxed her resources to the limits suffering for or searching for an answer to her malady and her condition so she was poverty stricken now and then she would also suffer the the humiliation of being separated from participation in worship she could not go to the temple she couldn't participate in the congregation of the righteous she couldn't go to sacrifices because of this condition in her body all because of the loss of blood it was all because she had lost or was losing her blood i'm going to

say something right now but in the last few decades we have seen a cultural shift in the religious climate we have seen things going on in the religious world that we would never have thought possible there have been some significant losses in established religions there there is no doubt that satan today is no longer just subtle he was subtle in the garden but in the last days he is not subtle anymore he's very blatant about the things that he wants to accomplish lines have been drawn in the sand listen things have disappeared out of religion altars true altars have disappeared out of churches i'm not talking about a piece of furniture i'm talking about an altar of sacrifice where people will come and humble themselves before god and and put themselves in a position of kneeling before god in submission satan has perverted that now to where he's taken even that most precious act of submission and made it an act of defiance kneeling before

anything except him is sacrilege and it's blasphemous we come to an altar and we bow ourselves and prostrate ourselves before the lord note there one of the first things if you read in the book of job the first chapter in within five verses you see job coming before the lord sacrificing because maybe his children had sinned maybe there was sin present in his house and he didn't even realize it but he was sacrificing to the lord but when you get on down in that chapter the first thing that satan attacked were his flocks and his herds because if you can stop the flow of the blood if you can cut off the flow of the blood you can cut off the relationship with the lord and so before he could attack job he had to stop his bloodline amen his means of worship what we see in religion today is a tragedy because churches have traded the power of god for political correctness they have

traded the anointing for acceptance they have traded the message of the gospel of salvation for a social gospel that is powerless to change anyone and one of the most glaring things about religion today and i think they feel the frustration is this loss of blood it has disappeared from the religious vocabulary i could name you religions that have removed it from their vocabulary because they don't want to be offensive to people in talking about the blood because when you talk about the blood of jesus christ you also have to talk about the sin of man and they just don't like to talk about sin anymore they have removed it from their preaching they have removed it in some cases from their bibles i remember a time and this is going back some decades but our songs used to be there is a fountain filled with blood nothing but the blood i see a crimson stream of blood all the blood of jesus when i see

the blood the blood will never lose its power the blood has signed my name there is power in the blood but somewhere between then and now it has disappeared from religious vocabulary and christian writers of songs you will be hard-pressed to find any songs about the blood and it's not just about the music it's about the entire climate change and the loss of blood from the church or from the religious world that is this resultant loss of blood has produced a barrenness in churches and after 9 11 they tell me that people flock back to the churches they wanted to find something there but when they got back to the father's house they found that the furniture had all been rearranged and and the the and the the people who study such things tell me that those who came in droves left just as quickly as they came stating they rediscovered all the reasons that they left in the first place listen i'm not preaching

a negative message today i'm talking about the religion in general there is still a church that has not lost sight of the blood that has not lost sight of the only thing that is able to cleanse us from our sins religion may have failed but the church still stands we stand firmly planted that there is nothing but the blood what can take away my sins what can make me whole again it's nothing but the blood of jesus and there is still a fountain that's filled with blood that a sinner can come and be plunged into it and be cleansed of his sin i don't believe that there's any other answer for the question of sin except for the blood of jesus christ baroness no i believe that even in these pandemic times the church of god is thriving there is still a people that marches under a blood-stained banner that still lifts up the cross of jesus christ and is proclaiming to the world that

there is no other answer especially in a time like this there is no other answer other than the cross of jesus christ and the blood that he shed they have become weak the bible tells us paul writing said that they would have a form of godliness but they would deny the power thereof they have piety they have liturgical ceremonies but they are powerless to change lives they have sacrificed the very life stream of the church in order to produce a seeker sensitive body listen there were two and a half tribes reuben gad and half tribe of manasseh after the conquest in canaan they said we want to go back we're going back to the wilderness we're going to cross back over jordan why my question this is a big puzzle to me why would you trade the miraculous a life of the miraculous for the mundane why would you go back to life in a wilderness in exchange for a life in the wonders of

god but they said we're going back across jordan and we're going to live over there and we're going to make our abodes there because to us the wilderness is a good place and as they went somebody came and told joshua hey those people over there that just went back they've built an altar that's just like our altar they've got an altar over there we better go take care of this because there still is a true people who live in that land of promise listen i got to thinking about this our prayer lists our prayer requests are probably three times as long as our praise reports but i would rather live in the land where not all the enemies have been driven out because that's where you're going to see the hand of god at work so the prayer list gets longer but the praise list keeps growing too we're still hearing reports of victory from the land of promise i would rather live in the

land of promise with all the enemies still about and know that there was still potential for the hand of god to work and the miraculous to be performed than to go back to a life of the mundane and without wonders and without miracles and live in that wilderness that's where the religious world have parked themselves but they have built an altar and when they got there this was their answer not a problem no blood here not a problem no fire on this altar it'll never happen we only did this because we want to identify with you we want to look like a church we want to act kind of like a church we want to give the illusion of being a church but we're not going to have any sacrifices here we're not going to have any fire on this altar listen to me church that is a form of religion that denies the power thereof god would never find anything acceptable about that altar

but thanks be to god where there is a false there is a true there was an altar where there would be blood sacrifices there was an altar where there would be a fire that would consume those sacrifices i am thinking god every day not only for my heritage but for the future because there is a church that still believes in the old-fashioned fire the one that was kindled back up in those brush arbors in those storefronts it still lives today it's not a different fire it's the same fire of god because it's the same blood of jesus christ that's applied hallelujah they built an altar and it would be an icon and that's all it would be is an image they just wanted to maintain an appearance also a part of this loss of blood has been the frustration of not being able to ever settle the sin question listen to me if your church if you're listening out there today and your church flies

a rainbow flag outside its doors you're in the wrong place they're just there for appearance sake they have accepted that you have to be what you are but i'm talking about a church that still believes in the power of the blood to transform your life it will take you out of sin and plant you in salvation there's still a church today that believes in the power of the blood to transform lives you don't have to stay what you are you don't have to remain in sin you don't have to be what you were born listen the power of god is this what he imputes to you is greater than what nature imparts nature says my dad was an alcoholic you got to be an alcoholic nature says my parents were into drugs i got to be in the drugs my nature will impart to me all kinds of things but what god says far exceeds what nature imparts god says i see you as something

different i see you not as a sinner stop steeped in sin but i see you as a child of god cleansed by the power of the blood religion cannot settle the sin question and it's frustrating to them because they cannot bring people into the presence of god if you cannot cleanse them and so they dismiss people as being just what they are listen to me our message today and i've talked about it with some of these guys our message is not one of atonement atonement was old testament it's not even a word that occurs in the new testament old testament was about covering things up put your sins in a box cover them up with a lid and then sprinkle blood on it in the new testament the writer to hebrews says we have a better way it's the blood of jesus because the blood of bulls and goats could never take away the sin of man but what the blood of bulls and goats

could not do the blood of jesus did while their blood merely covered sins jesus blood takes it away oh i got excited about this when i begin to think about the power of the blood listen when jesus came on the scene certain things had to happen the ark had to disappear which it did because god was about to do a new thing he was not going to cover their sins anymore the name that had been spoken to moses had to disappear because there was a new name that was about to be spoken into the world hallelujah it's a better wor a way it's a better name it's a better blood than ever was present before and so that old name they couldn't even pronounce it anymore brother brad they lost the pronunciation of the name of god they couldn't write it they they wouldn't pronounce it but the lord through an angel spoke to a a young lady and says call his name jesus because

he's going to save his people not cover up their sin he's going to save them out of their sin he's going to take them out of their sin listen sin is eradicated listen to me god is not forgetful there is no ignorance in omniscience there is no part of god that forgets you got to hear me today this is what the blood did god didn't just forget our sins they're gone they're not covered they're gone it is as though he uncreated them that's why he doesn't remember them against you because he simply says what sin are you talking about they're gone when the blood of jesus christ when you are baptized for the remission of sins the blood of jesus christ washes them away they're gone and if any man be in christ jesus he is a new creature it's unique that paul would use in greek mythology the goddess psyche was the one who represented the soul and she was represented by a butterfly

it's unique because paul said don't be conformed to this world but metamorphosed be transformed metamorphosis like a butterfly you go in as a worm and you come out a beautiful creation in jesus christ this is what the blood does for us it doesn't cover our sins brother don't talk about my sin i don't know what you're talking about they've been not covered by the blood they have been totally eradicated by the power of the blood listen we've been talking about sinners coming back prodigals coming home i believe that's going to happen i believe it but when they get back here this can't be a church that remembers against them the things that they have done if god forgives we must go on with our christian experience and forgive them also what sin are you talking about all i see is a new creation in jesus christ somebody who's been cleansed by the power of the blood hallelujah it has produced among religion it has produced

spiritual poverty churches have spent and gone been over backwards trying to get sin out of people making them better people through all kinds of programs but may i present to you today that it's impossible to educate sin out of people you cannot counsel sin out of people it is impossible to rehabilitate and rehabituate people out of their sin cognitive retraining will not get sin out of people what can wash away my sin nothing but the blood of jesus what can make me whole again nothing but the blood of jesus i'm telling you that all my eggs are in one basket today and that is the blood of jesus christ so if you're listening to me out there and your church is anemic and weak powerless to change there is still a church that believes in the power of the blood you need to find yourself an apostolic church that still believes that the way forgiveness of sins come through uh in ephesians chapter 1 verse

7 in whom we have redemption through his blood the forgiveness of sin my lord we could park on this spot i like what brother williford said in his email the other day anything that's highlighted in bowl and red and emboldened i could park here for a while and we could say more about this i could park here for a while and talk to you about this that the forgiveness of sins brother if we have nothing else to shout about today if we have nothing else to praise god about today you ought to be thanking god for the fact that your sin is not a burden that you carried around anymore it's not something that you're loading down with your past is gone you are a new creation justification that means that he pronounces us righteous how romans 5 9 says much more being now justified by his blood we shall be saved from wrath through him i have justification through the blood of jesus christ

i gotta hurry on i have sanctification according to hebrews 13 12 wherefore jesus also that he might sanctify the people with his own blood continual cleansing first john 1 7 but if we walk in the light as he ends in the light we have fellowship one with another and the blood of jesus christ cleanses us that's what the blood does it's continual cleansing of the spirit and the soul of man we have peace colossians 1 20 and having made peace through the blood of his cross by him to reconcile all things unto himself we have relationship with god ephesians 2 13 but now in christ jesus we who were afar off i didn't have a hope in life i wasn't a jewish person i didn't i wasn't a part of that covenant but i am now made nigh i've got a relationship with my god because of the blood of jesus christ i have redemption through the blood in the old testament and i'm closing

y'all can get ready in the old testament to redeem a firstborn son a man would take five shekels to the priest listen redemption back then this is what redemption was all about the firstborn son would be the priest of the family of the household and so god says i've set aside levites and they're going to be my priests but i'm still going to require redemption to exempt you from the priesthood to give you your freedom to keep that firstborn son and so they would bring five shekels of silver to the priest and it would be of the price of redemption for the firstborn when jesus paid the price peter said it this way for as much as ye know you were not redeemed with corruptible things such as silver you didn't bring your five shekels to the priest to get your redemption not with corruptable things such as silver and gold from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers it was just an

empty ceremony to keep to keep the firstborn sons out of the priesthood but watch in the new testament the reversal of that you have been redeemed and placed into the priesthood by the blood of jesus christ not exempted from but redeemed to become for you're a chosen generation a peculiar people you're a royal priesthood what's that mean i'm a priesthood to royalty because of the blood of jesus christ the precious blood it wasn't type a and it wasn't type b or a b or o his blood was precious precious blood let's stand together the reason that this church endures not just this local assembly but god's church the reason it endures is because of the blood we have victory because of the blood revelation 12 11 was to say and they overcame him by the blood by the blood of the lamb and by the word of their testimony they love not their lives to death listen the answer is the same for this current

issue of blood the issue is still the blood it's still the blood it's touched jesus get a hold of the one that's got the power to restore everything that needs restoration i am i am not worried about these events really maybe maybe that's a foolish statement but the fact is there should live within the heart of the child of god this serious optimism that all things are being worked according to the purpose of god he still got his hand on the church and as long as that blood still exists the bible says it was incorruptible incorruptible that means it's not subject to the laws of entropy it doesn't decay and fade away it's as powerful today as it was when he shed it on calvary it's just as powerful today and it will be until he takes this blood-bought church out of this world the storm seems to have shaken loose every aspect of society politics economics and even the foundations of religion they've been

shaken from their moorings but all it is done for the church is put it on a course on this sea of blood upon which we sail it's put us on a course for eternity and we are going to see him when this voyage ends we're going to see him and what does it say of him he comes riding on a white horse he's got a name written on his thigh but he's got a vesture that's dipped in blood we cannot afford to go the way of the world and i don't believe that we are i think that the church of jesus christ is as strong now as it was in its inception i believe that the blood of jesus christ that we proclaim still has the power to take away this listen john said it's strong enough to take away the sin of the world don't write them off yet folks they're coming there is a blood that still flows that is still efficacious it's

still effective to the to the the deliverance and the redemption of sinners the blood will never never lose its power let's thank god for his blood today oh let's do that this morning would you thank him for that blood that's covered you we praise you why don't we take some time here and respond to the word of god by thanking this wonderful savior who shed his precious blood i thank you for every bit of it that's covered my life and every bit of my sin and my past lord i thank you for the power of that blood today we're resting in jesus we stand on the promise and the premise of your blood we thank you lord for the power of it thank you jesus
