Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

You Don't Have to Understand It to Keep Eating It

  • The preacher opens by declaring that God will meet needs in the house — family, finances — but the much bigger need He will meet is salvation, a spiritual need Jesus is present to reach at the point of each person's need.
  • He compares the service to Cajun food and the dishes of other cultures: he does not know how to make gumbo or mix the curry, but when he tastes something and knows it is good, he does not have to understand it to keep eating it.
  • Visitors may not understand everything happening or be able to quote every scripture, but what they feel that they have not felt anywhere else is Jesus Christ reaching for them.
  • He leads the congregation to raise their hands and give God their hearts and minds, asking to receive His word that day.

The Promise of Pentecost: Peter's Answer

  • He turns the congregation to Acts chapter 2, verses 38 and 39, and reads Peter's answer aloud: repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
  • He identifies Peter as one of the eleven disciples who walked with Jesus, saw the miracles, and followed His teachings — the book of Acts is the actions of those disciples.
  • He stresses the reach of the promise in the reading: it is unto you, to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
  • From that verse he announces his thought for the service: the promise of Pentecost.

Scriptures: Acts 2:38-39

Fifty Days Later: The Day Was Fully Come

  • To understand Pentecost he goes back fifty days: at Easter they celebrated that Jesus was crucified and rose again on the third day — a Savior who did not just die for sins but rose to have a relationship with His people and deliver them from whatever binds them.
  • Pentecost means fifty: fifty days after the Passover comes the celebration called Pentecost.
  • He reads Acts 2:1 — when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place — and retells the sudden sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, the cloven tongues like fire, and the filling with the Holy Ghost.
  • Jesus had promised in Luke 24 that He would be with them, but one day He would be in them; at Pentecost Jesus Himself came to dwell in them, and Jesus will fill the heart and life of anyone who receives Him.
  • According to Acts 2:4, when they were filled with the Holy Ghost they began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.
  • One hundred twenty people were in that room, according to Acts chapter 1 verses 4 through 16 — Jesus' mother Mary, His brothers, and His disciples among them — worshiping and praying just as this congregation is doing.
  • People outside the room began hearing what was happening and were drawn in; men from fifteen different nations saw these believers worshiping differently from every other group and were astonished, and the preacher rejoices that this church is multicultural, with every race, culture, and age group represented.

Scriptures: Acts 2; Acts 2:1; Luke 24; Acts 2:4; Acts 1:4-16

This Is That: Joel's Prophecy for Everyone

  • When the onlookers asked what was going on, Peter answered in Acts 2:16: this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel.
  • Joel prophesied in Joel 2:28 that God would pour out His Spirit upon all flesh — upon everyone who wants it.
  • The outpouring was not for one group: it was for men and women, for the young and the old, for everyone.
  • The power of the Holy Ghost is given to help the family and the life, so a person can experience real joy and a life forever changed.

Scriptures: Acts 2:16; Joel 2:28

Born of Water and of the Spirit

  • Peter did not come up with this message alone; he was quoting what Jesus taught in John chapter 3, beginning at verse 3: except a man is born again, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
  • In verse 4 Nicodemus, a religious man, is confused — how can a man be born when he is old, and enter a second time into his mother's womb?
  • Jesus answers in verse 5 that this is a spiritual birth: except a man is born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
  • The preacher illustrates with birth itself, telling of his own baby daughter: around thirty-seven weeks the baby turns — and that turn is repentance, changing direction away from the old hopes in alcohol, drugs, money, jobs, and friendships and turning toward God; then comes the washing away of sins in baptism, and then the filling with the Holy Ghost.
  • Just as the doctors look for evidence of life and rejoice when the baby cries out, on the day of Pentecost God's Spirit breathed life into people and there was an evidence — they spoke in an unlearned language as Jesus gave them the ability.

Scriptures: John 3:3; John 3:4; John 3:5; John 3

What Shall We Do? Peter's Answer Repeated

  • In Acts 2:37, when the hearers received the message they were pricked in their hearts and asked Peter and the rest of the followers of Jesus what they were supposed to do — the same question this congregation is asking today.
  • Peter's answer in Acts 2:38 is the same: repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission, the washing away, of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
  • The promise of Pentecost is for everyone in the room today regardless of where they came from, their level of understanding, how much sin they came in with, their family, culture, or country.
  • Pentecost is life-changing power: Jesus is not just with you, He is in you, and with that comes forgiveness in marriage and happiness with children again.

Scriptures: Acts 2:37; Acts 2:38

Dump It, Wash It, Fill It: The Cup

  • From his children's-ministry days he tells of a bottle filled with mud: no one would drink from it, so the first step is to dump it out — that is repentance, getting rid of all the bad stuff; God is not going to throw the person away.
  • First John 1:8-9 teaches that if we say we have no sin we deceive ourselves, but if we confess our sins — if we dump out the sin — He will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
  • A dumped-out cup still has to be washed, and soap is what disinfects; in the baptistry it is not the water that is special but the name of Jesus that disinfects and washes away all sin, as if the person never did anything wrong.
  • In Acts chapter 8, Acts chapter 10, and Acts chapter 19, Gentiles, Samaritans, and other religious people were all baptized the same way — in the name of Jesus Christ; no one in Scripture was baptized any other way after Jesus commanded it.
  • Acts 4:12 declares there is only salvation in the name of Jesus; like a check that has power to be cashed only when signed with his own name rather than a relationship like uncle, father, brother, or son, baptism must be done in Jesus' name.
  • Robes and towels are ready: a person can go home dry and in the same clothes, but baptized, with sins washed away and, as Paul wrote, made a new creation with all old things washed away.
  • The cleaned cup can then be filled — as strawberry milk or Gatorade refreshes and nourishes — so the Holy Ghost fills the one who repents and is baptized in Jesus' name, and they will speak in another language as Jesus gives the ability.

Scriptures: 1 John 1:8-9; Acts 8; Acts 10; Acts 19; Acts 4:12

Stories of the Promise

  • The promise is foreshadowed in the Old Testament: the Israelites were held in bondage by the Egyptians and left Egypt, going the opposite way, passed through the divided water while the Egyptians were washed away, and then followed a fire by night and a cloud by day — water and a Spirit manifestation pointing to Pentecost.
  • At Hope Ministry, his home church's Saturday-morning homeless ministry, an older gentleman who seemingly had nothing to offer heard about the promise, raised his hands, spoke in an unlearned language as God gave the ability, and was taken to the church and baptized in the name of Jesus Christ — God wants people not for what He can get from them but because He loves them.
  • A six-year-old boy in children's church, taught by one of the preacher's dear friends, began to speak in an unlearned language during the COVID season with his mask on amid all the distractions — the promise is unto you and your children, and God wants to reach and fill the kids in the room too.
  • Journey, a young adult in her twenties, had searched parties, college, and a good job for satisfaction and found an empty void; in a Bible study on the promise of Pentecost it clicked — she repented, was baptized in Jesus' name, and came out of the water speaking in tongues.
  • Kevin, an independent wrestler who did not know WWE was faked, studied the Bible with the preacher while estranged from his father and longing for a change; one Wednesday morning before work he was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, and since then he and his dad are talking again, and his young son — autistic and non-verbal — is starting to talk, saying dozens of words, with a new video arriving every week.
  • Kevin then witnessed to a visitor named Sean simply by going to Acts 2:38; the next Sunday Sean and his older brother both came to church, were baptized in Jesus' name, and were filled with the Holy Ghost.
  • Joanne, an older woman who grew up religious yet always knew something was missing, was kept awake for over a week by dreams of God tugging at her heart; she came to the church, was baptized in Jesus' name, and her world was forever changed.
  • He asks the congregation who they are in those pictures — the broken with nothing, the religious who feel there is more, the little kid with a good family — because the promise spans black and white, brown and yellow, young and old, rich and poor, girl and boy: it is for everyone.

The Altar Call: The Promise Is for You Today

  • He restates Acts 2:37 and 38 once more — they were pricked in their hearts and asked what to do, and Peter said repent, be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost; not only the preachers or those who have it together, but every one of you will receive it and speak in a language never learned, which is the evidence and sign that God's Spirit is working in you.
  • The congregation stands and repents together in a corporate prayer — not a prayer repeated after him but a conversation with God — confessing sin and asking God to take the mud out of the heart, the mind, and the things said, heard, and looked at.
  • With eyes closed, those who have never been baptized in the name of Jesus raise their hands — about six or seven — and those who have never been filled with the Holy Ghost raise theirs — about four or five or six.
  • The whole church family comes to the altar together; like plugging in a vacuum cleaner to connect it to power, they plug into the power of God, raising hands and telling Him honestly what they need — healing, deliverance, the gift of the Holy Ghost, baptism.
  • During the altar movement a man named Mark, a neighbor of two sisters in the church who has been attending, is prayed for and baptized in Jesus' name; then Willow, a cousin of one of the church brothers, repents and is baptized in Jesus' name, and the congregation rejoices that she is a new creation.
  • He closes by urging anyone who still needs to be baptized or filled not to wait another day — the promise of Pentecost is for you, dad, and for you, mom, and lives and families are being changed and made whole at this altar.

i love what i feel in the house today god's gonna work in your life someone say my life i don't know what problem you came here dealing with whether it's your family finances god's going to meet that need but he's going to meet a much bigger need which is salvation someone say salvation it's a spiritual need that no matter where you are in your heart no matter where you are spiritually jesus is here today in this place to reach you at the point of your need

to let you know that he loves you to give you peace that passes understanding to give you joy that's everlasting to give you hope in heaven because he loves you so very much some of you might not understand all that is happening and oftentimes i relate it to cajun food how many all like cajun food in the house today i don't know how to make gumbo i don't know what's in gumbo back in atlanta west we had an african national church that we started we had

about 50 from gabon and ivory coast in ghana and 14 different nations represented and i didn't know how to make that food i love thai food i don't know how to make that food i don't know how to mix the curry to make it taste that good brother dennis but when i taste something and i know it tastes good i don't have to understand it to keep eating it i don't have to know how to make it to keep eating it so though you might not

understand everything that's going on though you might not be able to quote every scripture you feel something that you haven't felt anywhere else or any other church or anything else that you've tried to done and that's jesus christ jesus is here to reach you so one more moment can you raise your hands and can you say god whatever you have for me today i i give you my heart i give you my mind i want to receive your word today jesus god i praise you for

what you're going to do today man you can return to your seats we're gonna stay in this same spirit of worship and this atmosphere and god's gonna do something incredible i want you to turn your attention to acts chapter two we're gonna go to verse 38 and 39 and while you're turning there i want to give honor and thanks to brother and sister willaford don't we love bishop williford and his wonderful family his daughter amber thank you all so much for what you're doing here at

apc and then to your pastor and his pastor's wife mariah and brad delong you all are incredible incredible people it's an honor to serve in the kingdom of god with you all i have so many friends and family here so many people that i love i appreciate you all so dearly to your youth minister brother peter wright his family i love you guys so very much and why don't you give yourselves a hand for being here on pentecost sunday acts 2 38 says then peter someone

say peter this is one of the 11 disciples this is one of the men that walked with jesus that saw the miracles that saw incredible things he followed the teachings of jesus that's what the book of acts is it's the actions of the disciples the actions of the people that walked with jesus when he was here on earth peter spoke up and said repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of jesus christ for the remission of sins and you shall receive the

gift of the holy ghost for the promise is unto you someone say the promise is for me look to your neighbor and say the promise is for you for the promises to you to your children to all those that are far off even as many as the lord our god shall call for the next few moments i won't be before you very long i want to preach from that verse my thought today is the promise of pentecost someone say the promise of pentecost amen you may

be seated in order to understand pentecost we have to go seven weeks ago or 50 days somebody say 50 days 50 days ago we celebrated easter that's when jesus was crucified and then on the third day he rose again and i'm so thankful that i serve a savior that didn't just die for my sins but he rose again on the third day to have a relationship with me to help you and your family to help you in your life to help you be be delivered from

anything you come in here bound with that we have a savior that rose again on the third day we celebrated that 50 days ago and today we celebrate pentecost some say pentecost penta that word means 50. it's literally 50 days where they celebrate the passover 50 days later after the passover they have this celebration it's called pentecost in acts chapter 2 verse 1 it says and when the day of pentecost was fully come they were all with one accord in one place and suddenly there came

a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind and it filled all the house where they were sitting and there appeared under them cloven tongues like of his fire and it sat upon each of them and they were all filled with the holy ghost god's spirit jesus himself came and dwelt in them jesus promised in luke 24 that i am with you but one day i will be in you someone say in me jesus will fill your heart jesus will fill your life and when

that happens according to acts chapter 2 verse 4 when they're filled with the holy ghost they began to speak in another language they began to speak with other tongues as a spirit of god gave them the utterance 120 people according to acts chapter 1 verses 4 through 16 120 people were in this room and they were having a prayer service just like what we're doing they're worshiping god some lifting their hands some dancing some jumping some crying but they were all there to have a conversation

with jesus and for jesus to fill their hearts jesus's mother mary was there jesus brothers were there jesus's disciples the people that followed him were there and they all knew what jesus meant is one day i'm gonna be in you it's the promise of pentecost and so the holy ghost was poured out upon them and they began to speak in an unlearned language as god gave them the ability they worshipped and then in verse six that all of a sudden people outside of that room started

hearing about what was going on people that were driving by the church were pulled into that upper room because they were like something incredible is happening at that place miracles are happening at that place chains of addiction and habits that are breaking apart families are being broken at that place financial provision is happening at that place incredible things are happening at that place and so it started with 120 in jerusalem and upper room and it started to go outside of just that one moment in that

one place and then in verse 7 all of a sudden people from all over the world started to see these 120 people and they were astonished because of the way they worship they were different than every other group of people they didn't understand it but they just loved what they felt and i'm so thankful that i come to a church that's multicultural we have all kind of different races and ethnicities and cultures and social economic statuses here in this place but it wasn't just different cultures

it was also different age groups it was for the men and the women it was for the young and the old it was for everyone someone say everyone and these men from 15 different nations 15 different nations pastor brad they're seeing pentecost happen they're seeing people being born again and they're astonished and they said what's going on and peter in acts chapter 2 verse 16 he says this is that which was spoken by the prophet joel joel prophesied in joel 2 28 and the last they

say it the lord i will pour out of my spirit upon all flesh upon everyone who wants it in this place that your life can be forever changed by the power of the holy ghost that jesus says i'm going to put my spirit inside of you it's going to be power that's going to help your family it's going to be power to help your life so that you can experience real joy and so peter somebody say peter he continued to preach this message of pentecost but

peter didn't come up with this message all alone he was jesus's follower he followed jesus he he learned from jesus and he was really quoting what jesus said in john chapter 3 verse 3 jesus says verily verily i say to thee except a man is born again he cannot enter into the kingdom of god he's talking to a man named nicodemus this religious man and nicodemus in verse 4 says how can a man be born when he is old does he enter the second time into

his mother's womb he's confused by this and jesus says no that was a physical birth but you're going to be born spiritually again in verse 5. verily verily i say unto thee except that man is born of water someone say water and spirit someone say spirit he cannot see the kingdom of god see i have a beautiful baby girl kylea and i love her so much she is 17 months old she is so pretty and i'm it's just the first time i was in a hospital

room and i got to see this whole birthing process it's really a miracle how many all are thankful for kids they are inheritance of the lord they are just wonderful things they're incredible in in birth if you know anything about birth around 37 weeks the baby does this turn jesus is using this metaphor of birth this baby does this turn and that's repentance that one day i was going this way but now all of a sudden i'm going towards god one day i try to find

my hope and alcohol and drugs and in money and in job and in friendships and all this other stuff i was going this way but i repent and now i'm going this way my father used to be in the military and when they're marching when you hear the word repent that literally means to turn around and go the opposite way and so jesus says you got to be born again just like a baby he's talking to this man named nick about that and then there's a

washing away of all of your sins just like in baptism and then you're going to be filled with the holy ghost and what i loved about my beautiful baby girl kylia i've gotten to hold her and there's breath in her lungs and her heart's beating and her brains work and she's moving but the doctors always look for evidence the doctors want to hear the baby cry out and so kailea started to cry out it was this wonderful noise so much joy filled that room because there

was life in that baby and just like that on the day of pentecost god's spirit breathed life into people and they began to have an evidence there was a sign because they began to speak in an unlearned language as jesus christ gave them the ability and so peter is preaching the same message that jesus preached in john chapter 3 and in acts chapter 2 and verse 37 and when they heard this message when they heard that jesus loves them so much they were pricked to their

hearts or they were cut to their hearts or they felt that they're supposed to do something about it but just like you were just like me when i was 16 they asked well what am i supposed to do they they talk to peter and the rest of the followers of jesus what am i supposed to do i love what i'm feeling in this place i i want to raise my hands i want to do more but what am i supposed to do i love the presence

of god that i feel but but how do i get more of it how do i experience what those 120 people are experiencing how do i experience the deliverance and salvation and the life-changing power that's happening in so many lives up here when they come forward with their hands raised and they're crying out to god and they leave with joy how do i experience that that's what they're asking in acts 2 37 and then in acts 2 38 peter somebody say peter peter said unto them

repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of jesus christ for the remission of your sins or the washing away and you shall receive the gift of the holy ghost for that promise is unto you there is a promise of pentecost for you today no matter where you came from no matter your level of understanding no matter how much sin you came in here with no matter your family no matter your culture no matter your country there is a promise of pentecost for

you today pentecost is a life-changing power where jesus isn't just with you but jesus is now in you where jesus doesn't just go home with you he goes in you you can have forgiveness in your marriage you can have happiness with your children again it's the promise of pentecost when i first started preaching i i got involved in children's ministry and so i'd always take a cup can i see a bottle threw me a bottle up here that's fine good good throw i would always take

a bottle and i'd fill it with mud and i would say who would like to drink out of this cup and everyone would be like ooh and then there'd be two boys they'd be like me me you know how guys are and so i would have to talk to a girl because guys would just pretty much do anything you know how we are and so i said if you were going to drink out of this cup full of mud what would you do first what would

you all do you would dump it out right someone said dump it out that's repentance it's getting rid of all the bad stuff god's not gonna throw you away he's not gonna squash you and say oh you're just a horrible person first john 1 8 and 9 says if we say that we have no sin we deceive ourselves and the truth that's not in us but if we confess our sins if we dump out the sin he will forgive us of our sins and cleanse us

from all unrighteousness so first what i tell those kids is you got to dump it out you gotta get rid of all the mud now imagine you have this cup that just had mud in it would you drink out of it then there's a boy here that's like yeah give to me and so what would you do next with that cup okay so you would go to a sink get some water and then just put it out and put some drink in it what would you

use someone say soap see we take a bath hopefully every day or shower every day sometimes we go swimming sometimes we go to the beach so there's nothing special about the water but there's a disinfection in the soap and just like that in this place called a baptistry when you go down it's not the water that's special it's the name of jesus that disinfects all of your sin that washes away all your sin that is you never did anything wrong it's the name of jesus if

you go to acts chapter 8. if you go to acts chapter 10 if you go to acts chapter 19 we see the gentiles and samaritans and other other religious people that they were baptized in all kind of different ways but if you go through those scriptures they all were baptized just like what jesus did in the name of jesus christ acts 4 12 says there is only salvation in the name of jesus because if i write you a million dollar check how many are like a

million dollars right now a million dollars i can write uncle if you if you're an uncle in here raise your hand i could write father if you're a father in here raise your hand i can write brother if you're a brother in here raise your hand i can write son if you're a son in here raise your hand see we all have different relationships but we all have a name and only by my name being signed on that check would it actually have power to be

cashed and so when you get baptized if you follow the bible no one was baptized in any other way after jesus told him to get baptized but by the name of jesus christ and that's that soap that disinfects and so we got to repent we got to dump all the mud out and then we got to wash it out but it's not just water it's the name of jesus being called over you when you're baptized we have robes we have towels you can go home dry

today but you can go home baptized with all your sins washed away you can be baptized today in the name of jesus christ you can have that new life that new wonderful feeling paul wrote if any person is in christ they are a new creation all old things are washed away and all things have become new you can be disinfected by your sin you can be disinfected by the guilt and shame the hurt and pain and every regret that's been caused against you or that you

caused by yourself but it's in the washing in jesus name so peter said repent he said be baptized in the name of jesus and then he said be filled with the holy ghost this is my favorite part because i love strawberry milk when this cup is now clean you can pour that strawberry milk into it and it's refreshing it's wonderful if you're playing sports and you're exhausted by the things happening in life you can put gatorade in that cup and it fills it up and then

when you drink of it and partake of it it's refreshing it's nourishing it helps you to have joy it helps you to keep on going and that's what the holy ghost does when you repent of your sins when you're baptized in jesus name you can be filled with the gift of the holy ghost and you'll speak in another language just as jesus gives you the ability because he loves you so much i want to tell a few stories about the promise of pentecost someone say the

promise of pentecost really it's foreshadowed in the old testament if you've read some scriptures in the old testament you see that the egyptians had the israelites in bondage and they left egypt they repented they went the opposite way and then they went through what water and the water divided they walked through the water but then all the egyptians were washed away and then they were following a fire by night and a cloud by day there was a spirit manifestation and that was a foreshadowing towards pentecost

because pentecost is all there and it's a promise of it there's this first person we call it hope ministry someone say hope ministry this is a homeless ministry on saturday mornings that we do at atlanta west pentecostal church and my pastor brother darrell johns back home he would go periodically and he would preach this person that had nothing they had nothing seemingly to offer god they didn't have tithes and offerings they didn't have anything to really give to the kingdom of god but god doesn't want

you because what he can get from you god wants you because he loves you so very much and what he can do for you and so we had this this older gentleman from hope ministry broke in life but he heard about the promise of pentecost that day in that cafeteria basement of a church he raised his hands and he began to speak in an unlearned language as god gave him the ability we took him to our church and he was baptized in the name of jesus

christ why because there is a promise of pentecost whether you came in here with nothing the church doesn't want what you can have the church wants you because we know what god can do in your life because there is a promise of pentecost for you this next guy [name redacted] everyone say [name redacted] [name redacted] is my little buddy bo johnson one of my dear friends beau is teaching in our children's church because it's not just for the older people it's also for the kids amen god wants to

reach the kids in the room today god wants to fill the kids with the gift of the holy ghost there's a kid that can be baptized in the name of jesus today and so [name redacted] in chips with a mask on when covent first started with his hands raised and and their socially distance and all this stuff and all the distractions [name redacted] this little bitty kid only six years old began to speak in an unlearned language because he experienced the promise of pentecost for the promises unto

you and your children and to all those that are far off because god is calling you think of another young lady named journey someone say journey journey this wonderful young adult in her 20s she came to church not knowing a lot she went to all kind of different places trying to experience what she found here at an altar she went to parties and she tried to go to college and get a good job but nothing was satisfying that empty void in her heart she didn't understand

a lot of scripture but we did a bible study and we talked about the promise of pentecost and brooke and i was talking about pentecost with her and then all of a sudden it clicked a light bulb went off in her head she said i have mud or sin in my heart and she repented of her saying she dumped it all out and then she said i need to be baptized in the name of jesus christ and so she went into a baptistery and she was

baptized in jesus name and then she came out of the water speaking in tongues as god gave her the ability why because there is a promise of pentecost this next guy kevin someone said kevin kevin we look very different he was an indie fighter a wrestler that means they like hit each other with chairs for real he didn't know wwe was faking so they really did that stuff and so kevin and i were doing this bible study brother river we're going through scripture and i'm talking

about pentecost and he has this broken family him and his father hasn't talked for years he has a son named [name redacted] that is autistic and he's non-verbal he can't talk and kevin's really wanting a change in his life he wants to have a relationship with his dad because his dad doesn't know his grandson he wants to hear [name redacted] and talk he needs a miracle in his life he's struggling with anger and with other things and i told kevin about pentecost someone say pentecost 50 days ago

we celebrated what jesus did that he died was buried and resurrected again that he repented and was buried in baptism and then he resurrected to new life just like us and so i told that illustration of kevin and kevin one day on a wednesday morning before work he said you know what dj it makes sense i need to be baptized in the name of jesus christ so before work he said my family can get the pictures and the videos i don't want to wait another day

because it's a promise it's a gift for me so i'm going to go to the church and we baptize him at 9 00 a.m on a wednesday before he ever even went to work and god worked in his life what i love about kevin is him and his dad are now talking god's still working but they're talking and having this relationship what i love about kevin and his little son [name redacted] [name redacted]'s starting to talk it's a miracle i can't explain it but a miracle can happen

in this place [name redacted] is saying merry christmas and he's saying batman and he's saying jesus and he's saying happy birthday and he's saying please and thank you he's saying sorry he's developing dozens of words why and every week i'm getting a new video from kevin of a word [name redacted] saying because it's a promise of pentecost because when you experience pentecost everything else has to change and kevin was so excited after he was filled with the holy ghost and baptized he said it's not just for me

and so he met a visitor named sean which is that guy in the baptistry robe and he went and took sean to chick-fil-a he didn't really know how to explain the bible really good and that's okay he just went to acts 2 38 and says hey this is what the bible says this isn't what i'm saying this is what the bible says do you want to experience this the next sunday morning one day later sean and his older brother both come to the church and they're

both baptized in jesus name and they're filled with the holy ghost why because one day they realize that there is a promise of pentecost that can change your life no matter where you came from no matter what you're going through no matter your family jesus loves you and there is a promise of pentecost for you today there is a promise for your life there is a life-changing power here at an altar for you a miracle can happen in this place god can meet you at the

point of your need in this place you don't have to have all the understanding just taste it just keep eating it just keep going into the presence of god he loves you he cares about you he died for you and he has a promise for your life her name was joanne can you put that last picture up joanne she grew up religious she grew up around religion but she always knew there was something missing so she came to church this older lady joanne if you see

there's a young kid there's a middle-aged person there's a family there's an older person because it's for black and white it's for brown it's for yellow it's for young and old it's for rich and poor it's for girl and boy it's for everyone it's a promise of pentecost and joanne this religious woman she didn't understand everything but through the word of god and through a preacher she understood that there is a promise of pentecost and so she said i get it she said if you're really

gonna be real god i need you to let me know so she was dreaming for nights she couldn't sleep good and god was saying this is true this is true this is true god's pulling at her heart early one morning she called sister richards which is a lady in the middle and she said i have not been able to sleep a full night for over a week because i've been having these dreams of god tugging at my heart saying i need to be baptized in jesus

name so joanne came to the church no one else is there but this place she came to this place and she was baptized in jesus name and her world was forever changed so who are you in those pictures do you come broken with nothing well that's okay god will give you something it's the promise of pentecost do you come with a religious background where you have some scriptural knowledge but you just feel like there's more for you well there's a promise of pentecost do you come

as a little kid and you might not be this crazy person and you have a good family but you just want to experience what all these other adults are experiencing well there's water there what's stopping you from getting baptized today what's stopping you from lifting your hands today and being filled with the gift of the holy ghost there's a promise a pentecost you might have tried all kind of other things you might have tried drugs and parties and everything else but there's still something missing just

like journey it's the promise of pentecost acts 2 37 when they heard this pastor brad they felt it in their hearts they were pricked what do i do they talked to peter the person that followed jesus himself and all of the other disciples jesus's own mother was there jesus's brothers were there and they said what are we supposed to do i feel what you're feeling preacher i'm listening to you what do i do then peter said unto them repent get the mud out of your life

get the sin out of your life it's worth it to take that burden off and say god i've messed up so much much i've tried to do it myself but now i give it to you be baptized in the name of jesus christ for the remission of sins your sins and others that's been committed against you all that can be washed away you can leave here dry with the same clothes that you had on but you can leave here with your sins disinfected by the soap

of the name of jesus the promise of pentecost and you shall not you might not some of you not just the preachers not the people that have it all together not just the husband and the wife but the single mom the broken person the person from asia the person from europe the person from north america south america australia and africa but you will receive the gift of the holy ghost not the bible scholars not the people that can quote 100 scriptures but every one of you

that's you that's you that's you that's you that's you you will receive the holy ghost and you'll speak in a language you've never learned as god gives you the ability because it's evidence it's a sign so that you know beyond the shadow of a doubt that that's god's spirit working in you verse 39 for the promise is to you there's a promise of pentecost to you today can we all stand there's a promise of pentecost for your life today i don't know where you came from

i don't know what needs you have but there's a greater need god wants to reach that need but he also wants to reach your spiritual need and like that cajun food or that african food or or that asian food that i love i don't know how to cook all those different kind of foods but when i eat it i just know it's good i don't have to know what's all inside of it i don't know how they cut the onions or whatever none of that matters

because it tastes good we'll help you get understanding later but you just gotta taste and see that the lord is good you just gotta experience the promise of pentecost today we'll teach you a bible study we'll sit down with you and help your family and help your kids we'll do what we can as a church because that's what this church is all about is loving you and helping you but there's a promise of pentecost and that's what god can do and that's what god wants to

do for you so we're going to repent together because that's always the first thing we need to do whether it's a long list of sin or it's just small it's not a prayer that you have to repeat after me because it's a conversation between you and god so i wonder right now if you're comfortable or whatever posture of prayer you want whether it's your hands raised or your hands put together or you kneel down or you're just looking up whatever is comfortable to you i want

you to close your eyes with me so we're not distracted by anybody else and let's all repent god i pray that you can forgive me of all of my sins every wrong action every wrong thought anything that is displeasing to you god please forgive me of all of my sin god i'm not perfect but you're not asking me to be perfect you're just asking me to repent when i mess up and so god i confess my sins to you i confess god the times that i've

fallen short that i didn't measure up i am not good enough by myself and so i give you my heart i give you my life my thoughts my actions my everything please forgive me god make me clean god take the mud out of my heart take that sin out of my heart out of my mind out of the things i say the things i hear the things i look at god remove that sin so that i can make you happy in jesus name everyone's saying in

jesus name doesn't it feel good already there's a burden lifted now what i need you to do is it's not going to be uncomfortable we're not going to embarrass you that's not i don't like that that's not the kind of person i am but in a moment we're gonna have our eyes closed and i'm gonna ask you to raise your hand to two different questions just so that i can be able to pray with you i'm not gonna i'm not gonna call you out or make

you come up here none of that but just so that even if i'm not next to you i can at least say god i pray that you'll pray for my brother okay if you would everyone close your eyes if you've never been baptized in the name of jesus that means when a a preacher a pastor or a minister put you under the water they said in the name of jesus if you've never been baptized can you just raise your hand it doesn't have to be super

crazy that's awesome thank you so much for being honest you can put your hands down it's about six or seven today you can be baptized in jesus name eyes remaining closed if you've never been filled with the holy ghost which means you spoke in a language as god gave you the ability that you've never learned can you raise your hand that's awesome nothing to be ashamed of that's great that's about four or five or six of you you can put your hands down if you all

would look at me now if you want to experience pentecost whether it's the first time or whether it's just god i need you again and you have a need today whether it's family financial healing delivering whatever it is i wonder could you raise your hand my hand's raised look how many needs are in the place we all have needs god wants to reach you now i wonder if you can join me in the altar of the church family can we all come together families together husbands

and wives parents and children friends and brothers and sisters can we all join around this altar together that's awesome that's awesome a miracle is gonna happen in this place chains are gonna be broken in this place god's gonna do something great in your life because there's a promise of pentecost there's a promise of pentecost that's it move forward so that there's there's room for everyone to gather around the promise is for you come on you can be the next picture up there of someone's life who

was changed because of pentecost now i wonder can we both raise our hands it's like plugging into the power of god in order for that vacuum cleaner to work you have to plug it in so why don't we plug into the power of god and let's start to just talk to him in your own way whatever way makes you comfortable can you just talk to your heavenly father he sees every tear he hears every word and i want you to just be honest god i want

my life changed today in an altar that said tell him that in your own way if it's healing let it be healing if it's delivering let it be delivering if you need the gift of the holy ghost why don't you tell him you need the holy ghost if you want to be baptized why don't you say god i want i'm going to make up my mind today that i'm going to be baptized in your name because that's what's going to help save me that's what's going

to change my life that's it just one more moment prepare your heart for what god's going to do in this moment the promise of pentecost is here god's going to reach you at the point of your need he loves you he cares about you there's joy and peace for your life there's hope for your life today that's it one more moment one more moment what are we supposed to do repent we've already done that be baptized in jesus name if you need to be baptized why

don't you find one of the pastors or one of the ministers and we're going to take you to the back so that we can baptize you in jesus name if you need to be filled with the holy ghost why don't you find one of us and we'll pray with you right now hands raised all across this place i wonder if you find someone next to you and you pray for them ministers be led of the spirit that said if you want to be filled with the

holy ghost if you want this promise of pentecost i wonder if you can join me right here if you're one of the six that raise your hands we have men and women that are going to pray with you that are going to lay hands on you and we're going to talk with you to make sure you understand it completely god wants to feel you or maybe you're standing next to someone that you know knows the bible why don't you ask them to lay hands on you

so that you can be filled with the holy ghost they said hands raised all across this place as they begin to sing and worship god's gonna fill you with the holy ghost today young man god's gonna fill you with the holy ghosty lady come on your life's gonna be forever changed today by the promise of pentecost till i met you but jesus alive all my failures i try to it hide you call my name to your glorious day is jesus that's it talk out loud to
