Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

The text: David's mighty men

  • He reads 2 Samuel 23:8-17 as his text: the names of David's mighty men, near the end of David's life and of the book.
  • The first three: the Tachmonite, who lifted his spear against 800; Eleazar, whose hand clave to the sword until the Lord wrought a great victory; and Shammah, who stood in the lentil field and defended it.
  • Three of the thirty went down to David in harvest time at the cave of Adullam and broke through the Philistine garrison to bring him water from the well of Bethlehem — which he would not drink, but poured out to the Lord.
  • He announces his subject from that pouring out: the outpouring.

Scriptures: 2 Samuel 23:8-17

Formed in the fugitive season

  • The mighty men were not mighty when they gathered to David in the cave: they were indebted, distressed, and despondent, and they became men of valor by struggling alongside him.
  • David's own road ran from the horn of oil at Jesse's house, through Goliath, into Saul's envy and flight; the anointing did not skip the trial.
  • Guard the heart against envy: there is nothing wrong with thousands, even when another is given ten-thousands; honor whom God honors, and let God do the elevating.
  • Call the people God has surrounded you with by who he has ordained them to be, not by their present distress; it is in the season of struggle that God multiplies you.

Scriptures: 2 Samuel 23:8-17

In a hold at harvest time

  • David was in a stronghold during harvest time while others were reaping; in that hold he longed for the water of Bethlehem, wishing for simpler days.
  • The first three heard his heartbeat, fought through the garrison with sword and spear, and brought the water back — and David poured out what they had jeoparded their lives to obtain, because it represented their blood.
  • What is given to God in heartfelt labor is never wasted: God keeps track of every work, every offering, every amount of sweat, blood, and tears poured into his work.
  • Brother Sanders poured himself into a little church in Warsaw, Kentucky that never became what he envisioned; years later he learned that one of the little boys taught there, Zachary Glasgow, was preaching the gospel across the nation. What you're doing is not in vain.

Pour it out; God will pull it up

  • Poured-out water is not gone: it evaporates, is pulled up into the atmosphere, accumulates, and returns in greater measure. What you pour out, God will outpour.
  • Faith is not a disadvantage but a superior vision: we walk by faith, not by sight, believing the substance of things hoped for.
  • Do not be weary in well-doing: well-doing turns into well done, and in due season you shall reap if you faint not; pour yourself out like it is due season.

Thanksgiving, and the altar of Elijah

  • Jesus did not despise the five loaves and two fish; he gave thanks, and they multiplied. A root of the struggle is discontent: enter his gates with thanksgiving and be thankful for what you have while you still need more.
  • When his own congregation had raised one million toward three and a half million, they gave God thanks for the million; thanking God for what is in hand starts the multiplying.
  • Elijah waited for the evening sacrifice and had the scarce water of a famine poured out on the altar, and the outpouring of fire fell; then came the cloud like a man's hand and the sound of an abundance of rain after three and a half years.
  • Between the promise and the cloud, the servant's report is repeatedly nothing — keep going back to the prayer closet, the Bible study, and the sacrifice until the report changes.

The closing charge: it is not in vain

  • Thank God for the little children in Sunday school, the widows, the faithful, and the new believers; praise him for what you have right now, and it will multiply as you speak.
  • Elders are sent to find a young person and lay hands on them: that is a mighty man of valor; your preaching, teaching, and praying are not in vain.
  • Do not leave without being uplifted by the hand of God; there is a quitting spirit to put under our feet — I'm not quitting, and neither are you.
  • (The recording ends during this charge; the capture truncates the sermon's closing moments, which run past the end of the audio.)

Scripture index: 2 Samuel 23:8-17.

Thank you for the wonderful words, congressman. We appreciate it so much. And I will invite your attention to the word of the Lord this evening. I'm going to be reading from the book of 2 Samuel and I will read from the 23rd chapter of 2 Samuel. I'm going to read from the 8th verse, 2 Samuel chapter 23 and verse 8. This passage of Scripture will read through to the 17th verse, but the word of the Lord reads as follows, these be the names of the mighty man whom David had, Tachmonite that sat in the seat, chief among the captains. The same was Adino the Eznite. He lift up his spear against 800 whom he slew at one time. And after him was Eleazar, the son of Dodo, the Ahoit. One of the three mighty men with David. When they defied the Philistines that were gathered together to battle and the men of Israel were gone away, he rose and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary and his hand clave into the sword and the Lord wrought a great victory that day and the people returned after him only to spoil. And after him was Shammah, the son of Agee, the Hararite, and the Philistines were gathered

together into a troupe where was a piece of ground full of lentils and the people fled from the Philistines, but he stood in the midst of the ground and defended it, slew the Philistines and the Lord wrought a great victory. And three of the 30 chief went down and came to David in the harvest time unto the cave of Adullam, and the troupe of the Philistines pitched in the valley of Rephaim, and David was then in an hold, and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Bethlehem, and David longed and said, oh, that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem which is by the gate. And the three mighty men break through the host of the Philistines and drew out of the well of Bethlehem that was by the gate, took it, brought it to David. Nevertheless, he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the Lord. And he said, be it far from me, oh, Lord, that I should do this. Is not this the blood of the men that went in jeopardy of their lives? Therefore, he would not drink it. These things did these three mighty men. I want to speak to you for just a few moments this evening on the subject, the outpouring, the outpouring. Praise God. Could we lift up our voices unto the Lord and ask His blessing upon the preaching and the delivery of His Word? God, I thank You for Your people, and I thank You for this night. I thank You for Your Word, and I pray that it will be a blessing. As it goes forth, I pray that You'll help us to handle it skillfully. Help us, I pray, in Jesus' name to preach it under the anointing of the Holy Ghost. God, I pray that as the Word goes forth, it will be with boldness and with accuracy, with love, with humility. Help it, I pray, in Jesus' name to accomplish that where to it is sent. Lord, God, You know every need in this house and beyond, and we believe, we know that it shall be so according to Your divine providence. And for this, we give You praise. Hallelujah. In Jesus' name, we pray. Everybody said in Jesus' name. Everybody said, amen. Amen. God bless you. You may be seated in the name of the Lord.

Our text brings us to what would be very near to the conclusion of the second book of Samuel, which would give way to the first book of the Kings, which would begin with the passing away of King David. In fact, this chapter that we've read from, chapter 23, opens with the preface that these are the last words of King David. King David is providing a final admonition. He is giving some direction. He is thinking about his life. He is thinking about the kingdom of Israel, about the goodness of God. We just enjoyed singing about the goodness of God ourselves. Thank you, Brother Pound. God bless, Brother Brian Pound, this great worship team. Amen. How many are thankful that all of your life, God has been faithful. And all of your life, God has been so, so good. Sometimes it's so important to just sit down and reflect about the goodness of God, ponder and consider what all the Lord has done. And this is a little bit of what David was doing. He was giving some insight into some very important facets of his life. There were, there were notations made concerning the mighty men of David. Now, when we first encounter these, quote, mighty men, unquote, they're not really considered mighty. They were indebted severely. They were distressed. They had great calamity of life that had befallen them. But the Bible says that they found themselves in a cave with David. They had gathered themselves together to be with him. And, and he was in one of the most despondent times of his life. David's life, as you know, and has been stated tonight already about King David, he was a great warrior, anointed of the Lord. The great picture and visual depiction of Samuel the prophet coming to Jesse's house, calling forth the sons of Jesse, seven of them passed before him, all of which were rejected, were not able to meet the qualifications necessary for King, even though they met all of the seemingly obvious qualifications. They didn't meet that heart quality that God was looking for. And so Samuel said, your son, there's another son here in the house. Where is he? Jesse brings forth David and this moment that so captured all of David's life in a snapshot where that the horn of oil was poured over his head and he was

anointed from head to foot by that godly man Samuel, that prophetic anointing, that, that kingly anointing that came upon David. You would think that in that moment everything in his life would shift into perfect position. Of course, we know that he went right back to the shepherds field and spent a few years just doing what he had always done. That's sometimes how the anointing works, that even though you have been called, even though you have been selected by God, a lot of what you do seems rather mundane, rather monotonous and somewhat normal until it isn't. And in David's life, of course, it all changed on that day that he arrived into the Valley of Elaw and saw that, that, that uncircumcised Philistine that he would call him, the giant Goliath, all of Israel was cowering, but David said, is there not a cause? Is there not a cause? And he rose from the, from the, the, the obscurity of the shepherds field into the limelight of the battlefield and, and all of Israel's eyes were on him and all of their hopes rested on him. He rose to the occasion and that anointing that fell upon him as just a younger child, a younger man now is, is pulsating. It's reverberating. It's moving through him as he does indeed perform the work of the Lord. And it seems again as though he has arrived at his calling at his day. His time has come. It has, it is no longer a lion and a bear, but, but, but all of Israel is seeing that this man is in fact a mighty man of Valor. And you would think that this is where it all changes, but, but this was just the very beginning of his story. In fact, his story takes quite a dramatic dip, if you please, because even though God had used him to perform a great work, a great feat of strength, a great feat of Valor, he would find himself on the receiving end of Saul's envy on the receiving end of war with the house of Saul. And this is not something that he called for. This is not something that he expected. This was the king. Not only was this the king, this was his father-in-law. And then Saul had an envy against David. He eyed David because he heard the maidens singing the first

verse of the song he rather liked. First verse of the song simply said, Saul has slain his thousands. Boy, I like the sound of that. Kind of tapped his toe a little bit to that song. He could get with that song. It was the second verse that unnerved him a bit. The second verse said, but David has slain his 10,000s. Let me just say here at the outset that you must guard your heart against envy. You cannot allow yourself to view others that God has selected, elected and chosen. You cannot allow yourself to look upon them through the eyes of envy. There is nothing wrong with thousands. Even if someone else has 10,000s, there's nothing wrong with thousands. Let God use you to do what you are called to do in his kingdom. And however the Lord chooses to appropriate that, be content with that and let God use you and anoint you for his purposes and let others flourish also. I'm going to give you a little kingdom hack, if you please. If you will honor who God is honoring, God will honor you.

Do not get caught up in the devil's snare of looking around, wishing that you had it the way someone else has it. That you were elevated the way someone else was elevated. You don't want man to elevate you. You only want God to elevate you. When God elevates you, nobody can bring you down. But in man elevates you, you're sure to come crashing down. I don't want the elevation of man. I want the elevation of God. And if God says it's not time now, then it's not time now. I'll trust in him.

But Saul did not understand that principle and he looked at David with the eyes of the envy. And so so now all of his angst is directed toward him. And David has to flee for his life. And and this is where we find him. We we find him. The Bible says that that that he is in a place where he's he's surrounded by people. They're not the best of the best. They are indebted and they are distressed. And they are people who he probably wouldn't have chosen if he had to choose for himself. But but for those who are wondering what season of life. And we heard such a beautiful message today from Brother Jones about when the creeks dry up, when those seasons of life that involve famine, lack of rain, when they develop and we wonder why the test and why the trial look around you because God is going to surround you with people. And it is with those people that you will form a bond that nothing else could have formed with you and them. And they're going to go from being indebted and despondent and distressed to becoming mighty men of valor. They were at one point without direction. But when they came to David, they found somebody that God had anointed. Somebody that God has placed his hand of favor upon and he did not allow the season that he was experiencing to dictate the future of his life. But he said, regardless of what I'm facing now, I know he anointed me. Regardless of what I am facing in this season of life and who has turned against me, who has walked out on me, regardless of what those circumstances might be. I know that God has anointed me for his purpose and for whatever reason he has me in the season I'm experiencing right now. So whoever he's brought into my world, I'm going to invest in them. I'm going to train them. I'm going to pour myself into them. I'm preaching to somebody today who feels like you're in a fugitive season, who feels like you're in a season where people are not walking to you. They're walking away from you. You feel like the anointing of God. You're trying to figure out what that was really all about. You can describe when Samuel poured the horn of oil over you.

You can describe what it felt like to be hand picked by God for this moment and for this hour, only to have those expectations come crashing down around you. And I want you to know, don't give up. Don't give in. Don't quit. The anointing hasn't changed. The call of God is without repentance. Hallelujah. He's got a purpose for you. It is only just beginning. You cannot be who he called you to be unless you go through the trial that you're facing right now. You've got to go through this trial and you've got to pass this test. Because there are people that are around you that are watching your character and they're watching your spirit. They're watching how you handle this season of life. Pass this test. Keep your integrity. Hold on to the call of God that he placed upon your life. And that's what happened with David. And these men began to flourish around him. They became elite warriors as he was an elite warrior. They became mighty men of valor. While David was anointed, he was able to fight giants. While he was anointed, he was able to fight lions and bears. But when he went through the struggle of his life, when he went through the betrayal from others, when he went through the season of a depressed state, he was not alone in his ability to wage war. But he was surrounded by people who would fight like he fought, who would know how to wield a sword like he could wield a sword. It is in your season of struggle that God multiplies you. And it won't just be you who prays, but the people who are with you in your season of struggle. They will learn how to pray. They will learn. They will learn how to fight spiritual warfare. They will learn how to fast and seek the face of God. You won't be the only one evangelizing. Evangelist will be raised up around you. You won't be the only one committed to the cause. You're going to inspire people around you. Do not get your eyes on Saul. This season isn't about Saul. It's about these mighty men who look like they're despondent and distressed and indebted. That's not who they'll always be. Get your eyes on who God has surrounded you with. Don't you get worried about who he took from you.

Don't get your eyes on Michael. Michael was who he loved, but she was taken from him. You can get your eyes so focused upon those who have walked away from you that you forget about those that are surrounding you right now. These are who God has put in your world.

Hallelujah. Go ahead and get used to it. Don't you refer to them as who they are in this moment. You start calling them by who God has ordained them to be. Don't call them indebted. That's a mighty man of valor right there. Don't call them distressed and despondent. That's a mighty man of valor right there. He's going to learn how to sling stones. He's going to learn how to wield a sword. He's going to learn how to fight the good fight of faith. Come on, man of God. Your children are watching you. Come on, woman of God. Your children are watching you. You can endure this trial and you're going to come up out of it and it won't just be you who emerges, but there will be the throng of faithful believers.

Hallelujah. They're going to be inspired by how you forgive people. They're going to be inspired by your meekness, your gentleness. They're going to be inspired by how you handle adversity. They're going to be inspired by the fact that you never lose faith in God. Even when you question him, you resolve to trust in him. That's where David was and these mighty men rose up with him and David wanted to talk about it in his last words. I want you to hear about these mighty men of valor. He didn't go back to the days of fighting Goliath. He wanted to talk about these mighty men of valor in his last days. I want to tell you how great these guys were, he said. And he began to talk about them and he said there's a, there's one, the Bible says that he slew 800 men at one time with a spear. That's a mighty man of valor. At one time, that guy thought his life was over. Now he can take a spear and with one spear, 800 enemies of Israel can come against Israel and this one mighty man of valor who used to be broke and busted and had lost faith in God and everything else. But because he struggled while David struggled, David lifted him into warrior status and he takes one spear and slays 800 men.

Hallelujah, David said, that's my guy right there. That's my guy, that's who God put in my company with me when I was going through the worst days of my life. Oh, I wish I could preach to somebody right now. I feel the Holy Ghost so strong. Hear me, I want to tell you something in the name of Jesus. You've got to get your eyes outside of where you're currently sitting. Stop focusing upon the struggle itself and look beyond this day, look beyond this moment because there is a joy and there is a harvest and there is a glory beyond this day.

Hallelujah, David said, I wish I could tell you about Eliezar, the son of Dodo, the Aeohite. This man, you gotta hear this guy. This guy, all of the Philistines were gathered together to battle and the men of Israel were gone away. You know what Eliezar did? David said he grabbed the sword and he fought the Philistines that were gathered together with one sword. He fought all of the Philistines. He fought until he had destroyed that gathering of the Philistines. His hand became weary, but his hand, when his hand became weary, his hand clave unto the sword. His hand couldn't do much good except hold on for dear life, but hold on, he did. You know where he learned how to hold on? I'll tell you where he learned how to hold on. He learned how to hold on while David was holding on. He learned how to hold on while David was holding on to faith in God.

His hand clave unto the sword. It was like an appendage of his that he held on to while he smoked the Philistines. Then David said, I wish I could tell you about Shema, the son of Aeohite, the Philistines again were gathered together into a troop and they came to a piece of ground that was full of lentils. This was common of the enemies of that day. They would watch for harvest time and when harvest time would come, they would descend like locusts and they would reap the crops that they did not plant and Shema stood out there and said, you're not doing it to this field. This field belongs to the people of God and we sowed this field and we watered this field and we're going to reap this field in the name of the Lord and Shema stood. You know what that name Shema means? It's a name attributed to God and it means the Lord is present. That's what Shema was. Shema was just present and he stood present in the middle of that field. He knew how to stand his ground because David taught him how to stand his ground. And Shema stood in the middle and he defeated the Philistines who came in. The Bible says that the Lord wrought a great victory. In fact, even beyond the passage we read, the scripture will tell about Abishai, the brother of Joab who was also a great mighty man and he lifted up his spear against 300 men and slew them. And the Bible said he was honorable among the three that he was captain over, but he said he was not like that first three. That first three who slew 800 at one time with a spear whose hand clave unto the sword, Shema who stood his ground in the field of lentils. That first three was unlike any other and Abishai as great as he was. He wasn't like the first three the scripture says. He goes on to describe Benaiah and Benaiah, folks, Benaiah was one bad man. I'm going to tell you what. The Bible says that Benaiah, he was one who had done many acts. He slew two lion-like men. I don't even know what that means. But I know he slew them. Lion-like men, he slew them. And the Bible said he slew a real lion in a pit on a snowy day.

Folks, that's a bad day. I mean, it's a bad day if you fall into a pit. That's a bad day. But imagine falling into a pit and finding a lion in there. That's a bad day. But imagine it snowing on top of all of that. That's a bad day. But I'm going to tell you, this was one bad character who was made for bad days. He wasn't afraid of the snow. He wasn't afraid of the pit. And he wasn't afraid of the lion in the pit. And Benaiah said, I'll take whatever this day throws at me. And I will see the victory of the law.

These are David's mighty men. And there's more. There's 30 more. But the Bible divides them up into companies of three. And Abishai and Joab and Benaiah are in one company. But he said they were not as valiant as the first three. I mean, Benaiah slew two lion-like men. He did many acts. Slew a lion in the pit on a snowy day. Abishai slew 300 men at one time. But they were not like those first three. Those first three were something else. And David said, I'm going to tell you about the first three. And then it seemed like David had an affinity for the first three. And he tells us a little bit of why. Because he described the day when he was in a hold in the harvest time. I want you to think about that. It was harvest time and David was in a hold. David was in a strong hold during harvest time. I'm going to say that again. He was in a strong hold during harvest time. There are a few things as frustrating as being in a strong hold during harvest time. While everybody else is experiencing harvest. While everybody else is filling their coffers full while everybody else is having revival. While everybody else is having results. David is in a strong hold. He's in a hold. Anybody ever been in a hold where you can't seem to go forward and you can't seem to go backward. You can't seem to go to the left or to the right. Because you're in a hold. If you move this way you know you'll die. If you go this way you'll know that your enemy will find you. You are stuck whether you like it or not. You cannot get out of the circumstances that you're facing. That's where David was. He was in a hold. He was in a strong hold. I'm going to tell you we talk a lot about casting down strong holds and subduing strong holds. But I want you to understand if you're in a strong hold tonight David knew where you are. David could relate with where you are. He experienced it himself. It was a strong hold and it was more frustrated by the fact that it was in fact harvest time. This isn't a time that I should be sitting here just trying to figure out what God is doing

with my life. I ought to be out there having revivals what I ought to be having. I should be out there being blessed because I get on Instagram blessed God and seem like everybody's blessed. I see their stories and it looks like everybody's having a good time. Seem like the windows of heaven are open and the blessings of God are raining down. It looks like everybody's happy and here I am in a hold. I'm stuck in my living room. I'm stuck in my brain and my mind and my world and my circumstances. I have no wiggle room. David said that's where I was. I was in a hold in harvest time. You know what he did? He started longing for the waters of Bethlehem. He said man what I wouldn't give for the waters of Bethlehem right now. What I wouldn't give for somebody to just go down to that old well you know the one by the gate. Now you gotta understand folks this is David's childhood. He's wishing that days were like they used to be. He's wishing that circumstances were like they once were. If I could just if I could just taste the water from the well that I used to drink from. Man I wonder why I ever entered into that battlefield. That thing changed everything about my world that day. That experience. That anointing whatever that was. That experience where Samuel poured that horn of oil. And when I when I walk out onto that battlefield. I remember what life was like before anybody knew my name David said. And I went what I wouldn't give for somebody to just go down to that well in Bethlehem. And poor pull out some water. I remember when days were simple remember when days were simpler. Remember when things weren't as difficult as they are right now. That's what David felt David felt. I remember when days weren't as difficult as they are right now. Oh that I could drink the water from the wells of Bethlehem. Those three mighty men the first three not the others not the 27th those three. Those first three mighty men they heard his heartbeat. They heard it clearly. There was no question about it. He wants water and he wants water from the well in Bethlehem. And so they looked at one another and said let's go get it.

Let's go get it. If that's what the king wants that's what the king gets. And those three mighty men David said the Bible says that they go down into the garrison of the Philistines. Now folks they didn't walk down to the corner market and buy a case of water. They didn't door dash. Amen we'll talk about door dash and they didn't door dash water to their door. No no they broke through the garrison of the Philistines. They used a sword to get that water. They used a spear to get that water. They fought through the enemy's line to get that water. And they harvested water from the well in Bethlehem because David said that's what I want. And those men knew the heartbeat of the king. Those men knew the call of the king. Those men knew exactly what David wanted. And they were determined if he wants it I'm here for it. And they go down to the water of the well of Bethlehem. And they pull out that water and they bring it back to David. And when they brought it back to David I can only imagine how excited they were to hand over to him what they had fought for. What they worked for. What they had jeoparded their lives to retrieve for him. And they hand him the water and they're probably wondering I wonder what he'll do with it. Maybe he'll turn it into wine. Maybe, maybe he'll perform some amazing feat. And no doubt at the very least it's going to be the most refreshing cup of water he's ever received. And they were excited it was the joy of their life to hand to him this noble achievement. And when they put the cup in his hand David did the unthinkable. David took that water and he poured it out.

Really?

That's what you're going to do. Do you know how hard I fought for it? Do you know the sacrifices involved with retrieving that water? Do you know what I did? What I risked? Do you know what all I've gone through? Just to fight through the garrison of the Philistines to retrieve that water for you? And all you do is pour it out? I think sometimes we can feel that way when we give ourselves fully to do something for God. When we do everything in our power, everything that we are capable of doing, we give our very life because we hear the heartbeat of God and we know that God called us to do a certain thing. And so we give ourselves fully to it. We give ourselves completely to it. And we say, God anything you want I'll do it. Lord, if you can use anything you can use me. Take my hand. Take my feet. We do it out of love. We do it out of a heartfelt burden. We do it out of a heartfelt passion for the things of God, for the work of God, because the King has called for it. I'm going to do everything I can to pour myself into the work of God, only for God to take what we gave him and watch him pour it out. Hallelujah. Some of you have given sacrificial offerings and you feel like all that happened was God just poured it out. Some of you have started churches and you're in that season of life where you feel like God just kind of poured out that effort. What waste, what purpose has come from all of it? Has it really mattered what I poured myself into? Anybody here know what I'm talking about? Anybody here know what I'm talking about? To give yourself fully to the Kingdom of God? To give yourself fully to the things of God? Only for it to end up poured out on the ground? It would be easy in those moments to think, did I waste my time with that effort? I want you to know you didn't waste anything. David so valued what they did that the pouring out of it was his acknowledgement of the sacredness of what they had achieved. He said I cannot, I will not drink of this water because this water represents the blood of those that jeoparded their lives

just to satisfy my thirst. And David said I will not drink of it. I want you to know that God so values what you have done. Out of a heart for the work of God. I'm preaching to somebody here tonight that you tuned your ear into the call of God. And you heard his call, you heard his heart beat. That's why you went on the evangelistic field. That's why you started that church. That's why you began that ministry. That's why you gave that sacrificial offering. But now you're in a hold during harvest time. And all it looks like is that everything you did, everything you worked for, everything you gave for just kind of got poured out and emptied out. And you're wondering what am I supposed to make of that? I've come to tell you today that there is nothing you do for God that is in vain. That every little work you do, that every little effort you make, that every offering you give, God keeps track of every dollar that you send into missions. That God has kept track of every amount of sweat, blood, and tears that you have poured into his work. And I rebuke the lying devil that sits on your shoulder tonight, telling you that it was in vain. Hello my brother, hear me now. My beloved brethren, be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord for as much as you know your labor is not in vain in the Lord. There's somebody right now wondering in your mind, does it really matter? Does God see it? Is it making a difference? Are lives being changed? And I've come to shatter the top of my lungs. It matters. God sees it. Lives, eternal souls are being changed.

Go ahead and pour it out. I said go ahead and pour it out. Pour out the blood, pour out the sweat, pour out the tears. Hallelujah. Teach those Bible studies, plan those meetings, prayer meetings, and business meetings, planning meetings. Do the work of the Lord. Hallelujah. There are people that are going to backslide. You don't let that get you down. There are people that are going to walk away and talk bad about you. You don't let that get you down. There are people that are going to tell you that your work is not valuable in the kingdom of God. You don't let that get you down. We don't hold on to what people say. We are not governed by popular opinion. We do the kingdom of God work and we are ready to do it. We've heard the heartbeat of the king. He wants a cup of water from the well of Bethlehem. He wants a cup of water from the well of Bethlehem. Bless God. We'll fight a troop. We'll fight a garrison. We'll cast out imaginations. We'll subdue principalities and power even if he pours it out. And we're just standing there looking whoo. That's a little hard to take. I thought that was going to be the kind of the headwaters of some major river. But I guess it's just, I guess he's going to pour it out on the ground. Well, God bless you, king. I hope you enjoyed the effort we made. No, no, no, there's something happening. Here's what you've got to understand. You can't waste water. You can't waste water because water, it'll sit there. You just watch it for a little while. It'll sit there in that puddle, but it'll go away. You think it's gone. It's not gone. It evaporated. It was pulled up into the atmosphere. The water that is poured out is pulled up. If he doesn't immediately quench the thirst, don't get discouraged. He's just pulling it up into the atmosphere. Ah, some of you have done a work for God that you think didn't amount to much. No, you haven't seen the end of it. You haven't seen the end of it yet. He's just pulling it up into the atmosphere. You let it get up into the atmosphere, and it's going to form a cloud that is filled with more. Well, hey, I've come to tell you, brother, there's more where that

came from. You haven't seen the end of your sacrifice yet. God knows where it's going. God knows what it's going to accomplish. You don't have to worry about that. Can I tell you something? We do not walk by sight. We walk by faith. And I know we quote that, but we quote that many times thinking that because we walk by faith and not by sight, that we are at a disadvantage. A lot of times we quote that and think, well, we don't have the advantage of sight all the time. So we got to be content walking by faith. You're misunderstanding the scripture. Faith is an improvement on our vision. Faith is a superior vision than what sight is. We do not judge by the seeing of our eyes. We do not reprove after the hearing of our ears. When we look upon something, we do not take it at face value. We believe in the substance of things hoped for. We believe in the evidence of things we do not see. We walk by faith. Faith will make you walk into a town and say, I don't see it, but I know what's going to happen. I'm going to pour it out. I'm going to pour out my energy. I'm going to pour out my prayers. I'm going to pour out my time. I'm going to pour it out. Hallelujah. Thank God. Hallelujah. Brother, my good friend, Brother Vandiver talked about my beautiful daughters and their husbands. And I thank God for my family, my daughters, my sons-in-law, my grandchildren. Sophia just got married to Ethan Elms. And God's blessed in their ministry greatly. My eldest daughter Anna married Brother Zachary Glasgow. They have two babies. I'm grandpa Urshan now. I've never enjoyed anything like I'm enjoying this. Heidi and I live in our best life, and I'm so thankful. And so Anna married Brother Zachary Glasgow, and they've got a beautiful ministry and powerful preachers of the gospel. But the Zachary, he was not raised in the church per se. His grandparents were faithful members of Brother Pasley's church in Cincinnati, Ohio. My son-in-law Zachary did not come to God until he was 13 years old. And my dear friend, Brother Tom Ellis, prayed him through the Holy Ghost. And he came in under the late great Brother Norman Pasley, the second there in

Cincinnati. But he did not always serve the Lord. And his father had stepped away from the Lord. But his father came back to God. Sadly, he passed away. But we're grateful that he was right with God when he went to be with the Lord. He actually passed away in the middle of a worship service. He was worshiping God when the Lord took him. And if you're going to go, that's the way you want to go. Amen. But Brother Zachary, he did not grow up in the church. But his father and mother, their marriage broke apart. Since those days, my son-in-law has seen all of his family come back, come to God. And we praise the Lord for that. But he did not live in a home where his mother and father were together. So when he would go see his father, his father who had been raised in the church but wasn't serving God at the time, when he would have his sons, he would make sure they went to church. So my son-in-law said, you know when I was a little kid, he said there was a church in southern Indiana. And there was a pastor, Brother Sanders, and he pastored in Warsaw, Indiana. A little, little church in Warsaw, Indiana. I said it was southern Indiana. He said, yeah, right there on the state line. And we would go there. And he said, and I remember going to that church. I said, well, I said it wasn't, probably wasn't southern Indiana. I said Warsaw, Indiana is northern Indiana. And I said, and besides, Brother Sanders pastors in Madison, Indiana. Now that's southern Indiana. And you're probably thinking Madison, Indiana, Brother Sanders. And he said, well, man, I thought for sure it was Warsaw. But I know it was Brother Sanders. I guess you'd know better than me. I said, yeah, yeah, I probably know better than you. And so I'm probably right. You're probably, you probably got your facts mixed up, you know. And he said, okay, well, I just remember that we'd go to that church and it was, it was a small gathering of people, a little group of people. But man, we would, my dad would take us and we would walk into that church. I was a little bitty kid. But he said they would teach us Sunday school and they, they loved on us and they poured

themselves into us and they would pray for us. And, and they said, he said, I remember they, I would lift my hands and worship and I'd get stammering lips and, and I felt the presence of the Lord. So when I was a teenager and I received the Holy Ghost, he said, it was not foreign to me. They introduced me to that as a little child in that little Sunday school, that little bitty church in Warsaw. He said, I thought it was southern Indiana. I said, okay, that's a beautiful story. Thank God. And I was preaching at Florida camp a few years later and I was, I was just after service of enjoying some fellowship and a man came to me and he, knelt down next to me. He said, Brother Urchin, he said, I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Brother Sanders, and he said, and I pastored in Warsaw, Kentucky, right on the state line. And I said, okay, I'm putting some pieces here together. I think I may have heard about you, Brother Sanders. He said, well, I wanted to tell you. He said, I never knew why God called me to Warsaw, but I know he did. He said, he called me to Warsaw. I know he did. I remember hearing the heartbeat of God for that town. And so I went, I took my family, we uprooted and we went to that little town, and we tried to start a church. And he said, you know, that church never became what we wanted it to be, never became what we envisioned it to be. We would pour ourselves into that work, and nothing, nothing came of it. It just seemed like a real, a real waste, honestly, of our time. And I always wondered why God took us there. I mean, it was very few people that gathered together. He said there was one man that would bring his three little boys to that little church. And he said, he said, and we, man, when those, when anybody would show up, we would pour ourselves out into those people, and we taught those little boys what we could teach them. And we, we fed them, and we prayed for them, and we, we called on God to fill them with the Holy Ghost, and we did everything we could to help them.

But he said nothing really came of the work, and we moved on, and I've always wondered why God took us to Warsaw, Kentucky. He said, but I'll tell you, he said, I'm friends with you on Facebook. And he said, your daughter got married just not too long ago. And when she did, I, I saw your post, you posted about it, and, and you, you mentioned her and you mentioned the groom, and I looked at that groom, and I looked at that face, and I looked at that name, and I said, honey, honey, come here. Here's that little boy that we taught in Sunday school. Here's that little boy that we prayed for, that God would fill him with the Holy Ghost. Today he's preaching the gospel. Next week, brother Dylan, he's taking over 100 kids to North American Youth Congress. He's preaching around the nation right now, holding revivals and seeing people filled with the Holy Ghost and healed. And God spoke to brother Sanders and said, that's why I took you to Warsaw, Kentucky. Let me tell you something. What you're doing is not in vain. Where you are is not in vain. What you're going through is not in vain. You may be in a hold in harvest time, but hold on. Hold on. It don't ever let go. God's getting ready to do something. God's getting ready to do something. God's going to raise up mighty men, mighty women of virtue and men of valor.

Hallelujah. He's just, he's just, you just go ahead and pour it out. Hallelujah. You go ahead and pour it out. I know, I know sometimes we think, you know what? Maybe I misunderstood the call of God. Maybe he didn't want me to go to the well in Bethlehem. You know what? Even if you did misunderstand the call of God, I rebuke the second guessing and second questioning. God knows your heart. He knows what you are attempting to accomplish and he will reward you. Don't be weary in well-doing. You hear me? Do not be weary in well-doing. One day, he's going to look at you and say, well done. But if he, if you want him to say, well done, you've got to be committed to well-doing, well-doing, well-doing, well-doing, turns into well done.

Be not weary in well-doing for in due season, in due season. You shall reap if you faint not.

Hallelujah. Due season is coming. Hallelujah. I feel the Holy Ghost. Due season is coming. Pour yourself out like it's due season. Teach those Bible studies like it's due season. You hear me? Hold those services like it's due season. Sunday school teachers teach Sunday school like it's due season. Cleaners of the church, clean that church like it's due season. Don't you get burned out? Just keep pouring it out. Just keep pouring it out.

Hallelujah. I'm going to touch somebody with this. Somebody's going to be impacted by this. Something I'm doing is going to make a difference in somebody's life.

Hallelujah. I've lived long enough in the ministry now to know that there's somebody sitting under the sound of my voice. You are on the verge of quitting. But the Lord has stopped by your seat to tell you, this is for you. Don't you quit. It's just getting started.

Don't you look at David's 10,000s and think that your thousands don't matter. Or that your hundreds don't matter. Or that your tens don't matter. Jesus didn't take those five loaves and two fish and say, what am I supposed to do with this? I got 4,000 and 5,000 people to feed. What are you giving me this measly little lunchbox for? That's not what he did. He took that five loaves and two fish and the Bible said he gave thanks.

And I'm going to tell you what a lot of our problem stems from. It stems from this. We are not thankful for what little bit we have.

I feel the Holy Ghost right now. We're so busy wishing we had a new building. We're so busy wishing we had more funds. We're so busy wishing we had a better whatever. Whatever you name it. We're so discontented. We're so mal contented. And we're so envious of everybody else. God forbid enter into his gates with Thanksgiving and into his courts with praise. Be thankful. Be thankful. Be thankful. I dare you Hallelujah. Brother Woodward, when we we were trying to raise three and a half million dollars. We got to a million. We weren't a three and a half million. I wish we were at 10 million. But we weren't. We were at a million. And I took that million number and I told our congregation. We need three and a half million dollars. That's what we need. But we just got a million and you know what we're going to do? We're going to give God thanks. We're going to give God praise. I know we need more. I'm not worried about more. I'm just going to praise him for what I've got. I would to God that somebody would feel the Holy Ghost right now. I need somebody who needs a miracle sacrificial offering. I want you to thank God for whatever you got in the bank right now.

Because here's what happens when you give thanks for five loans and two fish. They start multiplying. They start multiplying.

If you've got a couple thousand or a couple hundred. But you need a couple million. I want you to begin to thank God for whatever you got right now.

It'll start multiplying. I don't know how. I'm just going to tell you. Pour it out. Pour it out. Pour it out. Pour it out.

God will take what you pour out. He'll pull it up into the atmosphere. And he'll let it accumulate. That's connected to the word cumulus clouds. It will accumulate like a cumulus cloud. The vapors are all compounding. And what's happening. It's getting filled with an outpouring. See it started out with pouring out. But what you pour out. God will outpour in greater measure. It started as a pouring out. Oh but when God gets done with your what you pour out. It's going to be an outpouring like you never know.

Brother Jones thank you for talking. You confirm the word of God for me today. When you talked about the creek drying up Elijah calls the prophets of Baal to come. We're going to decide who's God. We're going to let the God that answers by fire. We're going to let him be God. And he said here we go. I want you to gather. We're going to build. We're going to build this altar. Do you know that the reason Elijah waited until after they built the altar. They built the altar. And the Bible says he waited for the evening sacrifice. There's a reason he didn't just start calling fire down. He was waiting for the evening sacrifice. Because he knew due season is coming. All I've got to do is get ready. Put everything in order. I'm just going to get it all in place. Due season is coming. No it's not time yet. Y'all do it. Y'all go cutting and whatever else you do. Whatever whatever you do what you got. You do you. But here's what we're going to do. We're going to get things in order. And if my people that are called by my name. Will humble themselves in prayer. And seek my face in turn. From their wicked ways. Then will I hear from heaven. And forgive their sin. And heal their. It's about time for the evening sacrifice. And I'm going to tell you what happens at the evening sacrifice. The outpouring. The outpouring. The outpouring of fire.

But you know what. To get ready for the outpouring. He said I want you to get 12 barrels of water. Water. It's a famine. The creek dried up. How are we supposed to get water? It's scarce. He said I want you to get it wherever you can get it. You go get water. Well what are we going to do with it? Are we going to drink it? Are we going to preserve it? Are we going to set it aside so that we don't get thirsty? No. You're going to pour it out. I want you to pour it out. Oh brother Elijah. I hope you know what you're doing. You just do what I told you. Pour out that water because what you pour out will become an outpouring. When the fire fell Elijah told them he said go eat and drink. You want to know why? Because I hear the sound of an abundance of rain.

It had been three and a half years no rain and not a cloud in the sky. He said I can hear it. Do you see what I see? Do you hear what I hear? I hear the Holy Ghost coming. I hear due season coming. I hear revival coming because we just poured out. We just poured out. I'm going to tell you if you're praying, if you're fasting, if you're teaching, if you're preaching, if you're reaching it's only a matter of time.

Elijah said go eat and drink. I hear the sound of an abundance of rain. And you know what Elijah did? He ran to the prayer closet. We're at the servant and the Bible says he put his face between his knees and started praying. Just as he had prayed that the heavens would shut up for the space of three and a half years. Now he's praying that the heavens will open and the rain will fall. He told his servant he said I want you to go up to the mountain and tell me what you see. His servant went running up to the mountain. There's nothing.

All right we'll go for another Sunday. All right we're going to pray. We're going to fast. We're going to seek the face of God. We're going to teach Bible studies. We're going to disciple people. And now now go tell me what you see. All right I'll be right back. Still nothing. You know what I'm talking about. You know what I'm talking about. You pray and you reach still nothing. You fast and you believe still nothing. You pour out every Sunday, every Monday through Saturday. Still nothing. You've done so much. You pour yourself out. You make a little progress. And then half the church walks out. You take two steps forward and five steps back. And every time you go up to look is there a cloud. Nothing, nothing, nothing. Keep going up. Keep going up. Don't you stop making that journey to the prayer closet. Don't you stop making that journey to teaching Bible studies. Don't you stop making that. You walk that walk. You pray those prayers. You make that sacrifice. Because one of these days. One of these days.

You're going to expect somebody to say nothing. But that's not what you're going to hear. You're going to hear. I see something out there. What's it look like? It's like a man's hand. I don't know what that means. I've heard it said it was the size of a man's hand. I'm okay with that. It may be the way Brother Woodward taught today. It might that might have been the hand that was out there. A type of the five-fold ministry. I don't know what it was he saw or why he described it the way he described it. It may mean that it's going to require our hand to put a man's hand to the plow. I don't know what it means. All I know is that whatever little bitty thing he saw out on the horizon. It lied just said that's all I needed to know. That's all we're looking for. That's where the revival is coming from. That's where the outpouring is coming from.

I want somebody to put their hand in the air right now.

Whatsoever you find, you put your hand to, you do it with your might. You pour it out. You pour it out. My brother, you pour out that prayer. Sister, you keep pouring out that sacrifice. Pour it out now. Pour it out now. It's coming back as an outpouring. It's coming back as an outpouring.

Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. You know what I want you to do? I want you to thank God for some of those little children that are coming to church right now. I want you to do that. I want you to thank God.

Bishop, I feel I feel like I'm in the Holy Ghost right now. Some of you are concerned. Some of you are concerned about, about, about capable financiers of your ministry walking away from the church. You're concerned about that. And I've come to tell you, don't you be concerned about that. God's got this. God's got this. You're thanking for the little children that are in the Sunday School class right now.

Come on, there's a, there's a little child that's going to raise up as an evangelist, as a missionary, as a soul winner. You thank God. Come on. I want somebody to thank God for the, for the widows in the church right now. I want you to thank God for the faithful people that are coming to the house of God. I want you to thank God for the new believers that are just barely coming into the church. You want to give God praise for it right now.

Oh, hallelujah. Hallelujah. I wonder if somebody could just lift up a praise under God and be thankful under him. I want somebody to dance before the music starts. I want somebody to shout before the music starts. You give God praise and be thankful under him for what you've got going on right now.

Oh, I feel the Holy Ghost right now. I want every saint of God and every pastor that needs a financial miracle. I want you to begin to praise God for what you have right now.

Thank him for it. Dance, shout, rejoice. Thank him for his provision.

It's multiplying as we speak. I said it's multiplying as we speak.

Come on, somebody step out into that aisle. I want somebody to make the way to the front of the house right now with waving arms like the wave loaves of old. Thanking God.

All right.

Are you ready to get real right now? Are you ready to get real? I want everybody that the devil has told you recently that you've wasted your time, that your efforts are in vain. I want you to take the word of the Lord right now and lift it up before the Lord and say, Lord, you have spoken to me and I rejoice in you for you are the God of my salvation. And I know that every word I've spoken for your glory has gone forth as a vapor. Every amount of work I put into the kingdom of God is a vapor that will carry an abundance of rain.

I wonder if some elders right now could find a young person nearby and lay hands on them. That's a mighty man of valor. That's a mighty man of valor. That's a mighty man of valor in the name of Jesus. God's putting an anointing in them. He's put his word in them. He's put a heartfelt desire for the kingdom and labor is not in vain. Your preaching is not in vain. Your teaching is not in vain. Your praying is not in vain. The work you're doing for God, it is not in vain. It is not in vain. It is not in vain.

That's it don't you leave this place without being uplifted by the hand of God Don't you leave this place without being uplifted by the hand of God all the way to the back Come on reach out and bless somebody right now in the name of Jesus There's a holy ghost anointing that's flowing through this house. There's a straight coming From the presence of God. There's a wind of refreshing

There's a wind of refreshing their voice like a trumpet and give God

Come on. There's a quitting spirit There's a quitting spirit that we're gonna put under our feet tonight in Jesus name There's a quitting spirit that's been whispering in your ear trying to discourage you and defeat you But we are collectively as the body of christ We're gonna put it under our feet Every one of us have faced it But we're putting it under our feet In the name of the lord god almighty either are you i'm not quitting
