Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

God Is Not a Man That He Should Lie

  • There are moments when our circumstances seem to contradict the promises of God, and we pray without getting the answer we expected, but God is still good, still on the throne, and never surprised by our situation.
  • The promises of God are not dependent on the cooperation of our circumstances: if he declared it, it will happen, because the word of God is forever settled and forever true.
  • "God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?" (Numbers 23:19).
  • God makes a promise based on what he already knows, not on what he hopes will happen; he sees the end from the beginning because he stands outside of time and is bound by neither time nor circumstances.

Scriptures: Numbers 23:19

The Promise Announced in the Garden

  • In Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 God creates humanity in his own image and places Adam and Eve in the garden, where they enjoy fellowship with their creator with no sin, no shame, and no separation.
  • In Genesis 3 the serpent convinces them that what they had was less than what they should have; Eve is deceived, Adam disobeys, and sin enters the world with death following, for "by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men" (Romans 5:12).
  • God was not caught by surprise and Calvary was not plan B: there was a lamb slain from the foundation of the world, and God always had a plan of redemption to restore us to right relationship with him.
  • Before God ever drove Adam and Eve out of the garden he announced to the serpent, "I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel" (Genesis 3:15): the serpent would not have the final word.
  • We were redeemed not with corruptible things like silver and gold but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish and without spot, who was foreordained before the foundation of the world (1 Peter 1:18).
  • The cross was not evidence that God's purpose failed but the revelation of how far he was willing to go: in spite of our faults, failures, and labels, his blood covers it all, and staying in covenant with him we have authority to reclaim everything the enemy has stolen.

Scriptures: Genesis 1; Genesis 2; Genesis 3; Romans 5:12; Genesis 3:15; 1 Peter 1:18

The Promise Under Attack Through the Generations

  • You can attack the people carrying the promise, but you cannot overthrow the God who made it; the promise carries if-then conditions for us, to stay committed and obedient, and the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the grave lives in us, so victory lives inside us even when we do not feel victorious.
  • In Exodus 1:15 the king of Egypt ordered the Hebrew midwives to kill every Hebrew son at birth, yet God had promised Abraham, "I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed" (Genesis 12:3), and Egypt had no authority over the promises of God.
  • The midwives feared God and refused Pharaoh's command, and Moses, the very one who would lead Israel out of bondage, grew up in the household of the man trying to extinguish his people, because God always has a plan.
  • Athaliah tried to destroy the royal line by killing her own grandchildren, but David had been promised, "I will set up thy seed after thee... and I will establish the throne of his kingdom for ever" (2 Samuel 7:12); Joash was hidden in the house of God for six years, and in the seventh year they brought out the king's son, crowned him, and made him king (2 Kings 11:12).
  • The application is to open the word, read what has been declared over us, and claim the promises as our own, because hell has neither the power, the authority, nor the jurisdiction to cancel us out.

Scriptures: Exodus 1:15; Genesis 12:3; 2 Samuel 7:12; 2 Kings 11:12

The Promise Became Flesh, and the Cross Hell Could Not Stop

  • "But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law" (Galatians 4:4); when Herod learned a king had been born and was deceived by the wise men, he sent forth and slew all the children in Bethlehem two years old and under (Matthew 2:16).
  • But before Herod's soldiers arrived, an angel had already warned Joseph in a dream to take the young child and his mother and flee into Egypt (Matthew 21:13, as cited in the sermon): Pharaoh, Athaliah, and Herod all tried, in different generations, and God's redemptive purpose kept marching forward.
  • At the cross it appeared from every earthly perspective that the opposition had finally succeeded, but what looked like the end of the promise was the fulfillment of the plan all along; those who crucified Jesus were playing into what God had purposed from the beginning.
  • Jesus was not dragged helplessly to Calvary: "I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself" (John 10:17), and when the arresting party came and he said, "I am he," they went backward and fell to the ground (John 18:6).
  • He stayed on the cross not to save himself but to save us, blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, nailing it to his cross, and spoiling principalities and powers, triumphing over them openly in it (Colossians 2:14).
  • Through death he destroyed him that had the power of death, that is, the devil (Hebrews 2), and took back the keys of death, hell, and the grave, so the enemy can do nothing to us without God's permission; this is not about perfection but about being obedient and faithful.

Scriptures: Galatians 4:4; Matthew 2:16; Matthew 21:13; John 10:17; John 18:6; Colossians 2:14; Hebrews 2

The Promise Is for You: Acts 2

  • On the day of Pentecost Peter preached Jesus Christ crucified, buried, risen, and exalted, declaring, "Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ" (Acts 2:36).
  • Cut to the heart, the crowd asked, "Men and brethren, what shall we do?" and Peter did not tell them merely to admire the cross or acknowledge Jesus as a good man; he called them to respond to the gospel.
  • "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost" (Acts 2:38); for the promise, the same promise God started back in Genesis 3, is unto you and to your children and to all that are afar off, and it has lost none of its power in 2026.
  • As John 3 teaches from Jesus' words to Nicodemus, a person must be born of the water and of the Spirit, baptized and filled with his Spirit; the gift is not for some people but for all.

Scriptures: Acts 2; Acts 2:36; Acts 2:38; John 3

For the Weary: All the Promises Are Yes and Amen

  • The sermon closes by addressing those who have not yet fully responded to the gospel and those who have walked with God for years but are weary from fighting battles.
  • One man in the congregation prayed for the gift of the Holy Ghost for 51 years before God filled him in this church about two years ago; receiving comes through genuine, heartfelt, abandoned worship with the mind fully engaged on God's goodness rather than on our troubles.
  • Our brokenness does not cancel Calvary or negate the promises of God; some things may never be resolved in this life, but we have a promise beyond this place, and the God who made the promise is still faithful.
  • "For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us" (2 Corinthians 1:24, as cited in the sermon): the enemy, sin, and our past do not have the final word over our lives; Jesus Christ does.
  • The altar call invites boldness: come for the Holy Ghost, for forgiveness, deliverance, a miracle, renewed faith, or strength for a weary life, and activate your faith rather than sitting passively by.

Amen. I want to preach today. Hell can't cancel Calvary. Y'all going to preach with me today? No matter what hell tries to start, it can't stop God. There are moments when life and circumstances that surround us seem to almost contradict the promises of God. But that is a lie. Sometimes we pray and we don't get the expected answer we want. But you know what? God's still good. That's right. He's just as powerful as he's ever been. He's not limited. He's not shortsighted. He's sitting on the throne alive and well. He's not surprised by your circumstances or situation. He didn't wake up and say, "I didn't see that coming." He is still as powerful as ever. Hell cannot cancel Calvary. We stand on his word even when everything around us seems to be eroding away.

I promise you, the word of God is forever settled. It is forever true. You can sustain your life. You can build on it. You can stand by it. I promise you if he give you a word it will come to pass because hell cannot cancel Calvary. Have you ever found yourself standing on a promise while staring at circumstances that seem to make the promise seemingly impossible? Anybody been there? Anybody living there right now? It's still going to come to pass because hell can't cancel Calvary. The promises of God are not dependent upon the cooperation or our circumstances. If he declared it to happen, it's going to happen. If he said it's going to be, it's going to be. It's always been that way. The promises of God are yay in this and amen.

Amen. Amen. Do you believe that? I got a little faith in the room today. Can I preach what I feel today? Numbers 23:19. God is not a man that he should lie, nor the son of man that he should repent. has he said and it will not will he not do or has he spoken and will he not make good on it? Yes, he will. When God makes a promise, he doesn't make it based on what he hopes going to happen. Come on. He makes it on based on what he already knows. That's right. That he sees the end from the beginning and the beginning from the end. He is outside of time. He's not structured in the way that you and I are structured.

He's not bound by time or circumstances. If he said it's going to happen, ladies and gentlemen, you can just take it to the bank as they used to say, it's going to happen. I want to take you through the scriptures. I want to show you about how the promises of God come true. That God keeps his word. So, in order to do that, we got to go to the beginning. Let's go to the book of Genesis. You guys ready to go through the word pretty quickly today? Genesis chapter 1 and 2. God creates humanity in his own image and places Adam and Eve in the beautiful garden that is there. They enjoy fellowship with their creator. They walk with the cool of the morning and in the evening with him.

There was no sin, no shame, no separation between God and man. But in Genesis 3, everything changed. The serpent entered the equation and somehow convinced Adam and Eve that what they had was less than what they should be having. Even though that was a lie. Just want you to know if the devil's talking to you, whatever he's saying is wrong. It's a lie. [applause and cheering] If he says you can't, that means you can. If he says you're never going to be, that's a lie. That means you're going to be. If he says God's word is not true, I promise you it is true. every dot, every line, every promise is there. Yes. But we find in Genesis 3 that Eve is deceived and Adam disobys and sin enters the world and death follows.

But Romans 5:12 says, "Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, even death through sin and thus death spread to all men because all have sinned." From a human perspective, everything appeared to be lost. And if you didn't know God, you would look at this and say, "How did he not see that coming?" I want to know he did. I want you to know that Calvary was not plan B. The cross was not plan B. There had always been a lamb slain from the foundations of the world. In his mind, he already knew, I'm going to have a plan of redemption through which I can bring them back to a right, restored relationship. I'm thankful that my God's not caught by surprise. How about you?

Now, sometimes I get caught by surprise. Sometimes I say, "Well, I didn't see that coming." But there's never been the words uttered out of our Lord's mouth because he's always had a plan. Genesis 3:15, he said this. Listen to this. I'll put enmity between you and the woman. He's talking to the talking to the serpent and between your seed and her seed. He shall bruise your head and you shall bruise his heel. Don't miss what's happening. Before God ever drove Adam and Eve out of the garden, he announced that the serpent wouldn't have the final word. From the very beginning, as it all seemed to be unraveling in front of him, he said, "You know what? I'm just going to gohead and set the precedent right now.

You're going to fight, but I'm going to win. You're going to fight, but I got the final word. You may think you have stopped me, but you have only simply set something in motion that I knew was going to come to pass. I have a redemption plan. I'm so thankful that my God has a plan. Aren't you thankful that he has a plan? I mean it. Are you really thankful that he has a plan? He's got a plan for your life. He's got a plan for my life. He's not called by surprise. No matter what the enemy throws his way, my God's like, I got something for that. I can handle that. I can take care of that. I can bring you out. I can restore.

I can break. I can heal. I can men. My God always has a plan. How good and faithful is our God. Amen. When God establishes his purpose, hell doesn't have authority to overrun it. I preached last Sunday about the gates of hell shall not prevail. how the in in ancient times, cities would put decrees and ordinances at the gates of the city. So when you walked in, you seen the laws and the things that were declared there. And Jesus said, "The gates of hell shall not prevail. Whatever hell decrees, he overrides it." That's right. That's right. Which means you and I have the authority, as long as we stay in covenant relationship with him, to walk back to where the enemy is and take back everything he's stolen from us.

To claim the promises of God, to look at the enemy and say, "You no longer have control over me. I don't have to listen to you. And I've come to reclaim everything that you've taken from me and everything that I willingly lost, everything that I made a mistake over. I'm here to say the blood of Jesus covers all those things. In him, I am a new creature. I be made new each and every day of my life. I may I may stumble. I may fall. But rejoice not against me, oh my enemy. When I fall, I'm going to get back up because my God's made a way. He's got a plan. He's got a promise. I'm standing on hell can't cancel what Calvary put in motion.

As I said while ago, the promise was not God's backup plan. 1 Peter 1:18, "Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things like silver and gold from your aimless conduct received by tradition of your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ as a lamb without blemish and without spot. He indeed was for ordained before the foundation of the world, but manifest in these last times for you." Calvary was not an emergency response to an unexpected crisis. It was God's plan because hell can't cancel Calvary. That's right. Before Adam ever sinned, God already knew the redemption would be required. Before the servant entered the garden, he knew. And yet God still created us, still loved us, still made provision for our redemption.

The cross was not evidence that God's purpose has failed. It was the ultimate revelation of how far God was willing to go to redeem you and I in our broken state. He wasn't going to be prevented by our bad mistakes or our decisions or our failures or our faults or our labels. He said, "In spite of those things, I'll still die for you." In spite of your faults and failures, in spite of what you think has disqualified you, he says, "It doesn't matter to me. My blood covers all. My blood covers all. Every mistake, every failure, every hiccup, every hangup you got, my blood covers it all." Why? Because hell cannot cancel Calvary. I wish somebody grabbed a hold of what I'm trying to preach today.

God's redemptive purpose was established before the foundation of the world. Then what power in hell could possibly cancel out what God has already determined to accomplish? There is none. It has no ability. The promise is under attack. Always has been. From the moment of Genesis 3 to where we are today, God's redemptive promise has always kept its place even though hell has tried to thwart it. God's people had experienced slavery and captivity and persecution. There would be moments where it appeared as if the promise was itself was itself was in jeopardy. But it wasn't lost. I promise you, God wasn't up there sweating. He wasn't sitting on the throne being nervous. There's never been a day he's woke up anxious. Do you hear me? Do you hear me?

He wasn't surprised by any of this. He wasn't like, I don't, what am I going to do now? He already knew, I got a plan. I for everything they're going to throw at me, I got a plan. For every scenario they come up with, I got a plan. There's not a problem too big that I can't solve. That I can't step in the middle of your circumstances and work a way out. That I can't take your brokenness and make it beautiful. In fact, not only will I make it beautiful, but I'll I'll use it as a part of somebody else's redemptive process because you have a testimony and a story. That's how good our God is. He has a plan. Hell can't cancel Calvary. The enemy would discover something about the promises of God.

You can attack the people carrying the promise, but you cannot overthrow the God who made it. Amen. I'm going to say that again. You can attack the people carrying the promise, but you cannot overthrow the God who made it. Amen. So if God's given you a promise, and this book is full of promises. Now they're if then promises. You and I have a responsibility and obligation to fulfill our end of the goal is to stay committed and obedient to his word. But I promise you, if you stay committed and obedient, you may have moments where you stub your toe. But I promise you, in the end, you will be victorious. You will be an overcomer. That same spirit that got him up out of the grave when the enemy thought he had a he put the final blow on there is the same spirit that he pours out inside of us.

And if you've been filled with that spirit, then you have that overcoming victory inside of you. regardless of what you're going through right now. I want you to know victory lives inside of you. You may not feel victorious right now. That's why it's important sometimes for you to engage in worship. Why? Because it excites that spirit inside of you. It reignites the flame that is there to remind yourself, you know what? I'm not a loser. I'm not a mistake. I'm not a failure. I'm a bloodb redeemed child of the most high God. He's filled me with his spirit and hell can't cancel what Calvary put in motion. Amen. when the enemy attacked generations. We see this in Exodus 1 verse1 15. Then the king of Egypt spoke to the Hebrew midwives of whom name was Safara and the name of the other Pua.

Hey, there's two more names right there. I'm up to eight. And he said, when you do the duties of a midwife, listen to this for the Hebrew women and see them on the birth stools. If it's a son, then you shall kill him, but if it's a daughter, then it shall live. Israel had been living in Egypt for generations. The place of provision under Joseph had become a place of bondage now. But even in bondage, God's people continued to multiply because the enemy doesn't hasn't figured this out that when he tries to bring us adversity, it only causes us to dig deeper in prayer. Pharaoh became afraid. Listen to this. Kill the sons was a decree. Yet God promised Abraham and his descendants they would become a great nation.

In fact, in Genesis 12:3, he says, "I will bless those who bless you. I'll curse him who curses you, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed." What was that? That was a promise that was given to him, to God's people. It was a promise that, "Hey, I'm going to let you be a blessing to the whole world." Yes. So, what was Pharaoh thinking he was going to do, right? Hell can't cancel Calvary. Egypt had no authority over the promises of God. who may have had authority in his land, but we know the one that was higher than him, Jesus Christ, God Almighty. The Hebrew midwives feared God and refused Pharaoh's command. Listen to this. This is how Moses came to be.

The very one who was going to lead them out of their bondage was the one who was a blessing of the benefit of the midwives who saying, "You know what? I know Pharaoh that you're in charge, but there's someone higher than you. So, I know what you're wanting me to do." And then through the process of Moses being placed in the river, the very household that was trying to cause them to be extinguished was the household that Moses grew up in. Why? Because our God always has a plan. Even if it's not conventional thinking, who would have thought that Moses, the very one who was going to lead his people out, would have grew up in Pharaoh's house, the guy who was trying to extinguish him.

But God has a plan. He's never been surprised. He's never been caught off guard. Why? Because hell can't cancel what Calvary set in motion. I'm preaching to somebody today. Have some faith. I know your circumstances seem overwhelming right now, but hell can't cancel out what has already been set in motion for you in your life. There's a lady named Athaliah. If you've ever studied her out, man, wicked woman. Her son Ahaziah. Got my tongue and my mouth and my throat. All got mixed up there. He was the king. Yeah. And the king died. And then his mom, Athalia, decided, you know what? I want the throne. Now, here's here's something that's a little twisted for us. She decided to kill off all her grandbabies. Now, I don't get that, right?

So, the grandbabies are the best ones, right? That's what I've been told. I don't have any yet, but I've told that. But here we see another instance where God was not caught by surprise because he's always has a plan. There was a there was a little boy named uh Joash that was there that that got hid and Athliiah is attempting to destroy the family through which the Messiah would come. But David had been given a promise in 2 Samuel 7 verse number 12. When your days are fulfilled in your rest with your fathers, I will set up your seat after you will come from your body and I will establish his kingdom and he shall build a house for my name and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.

Did you catch that? So what's Athaliah going to do? nothing just gonna stir up a mess because what has already been set in motion you can't stop and we know the little boy escaped Joash was hid in the house of God for six years and on the seventh year 2 Kings 11 and 12 says and they brought out the king's son and put a crown on him and give him a testimony they made him king and anointed him and they clapped their hands and said long live the king the royal line survived Athaliah could seize the throne but she could not cancel God's covenant I'm telling you guys you need to wake up and understand what you have working for you. Hell can't cancel Calvary.

It can't stop what God has already promised and declared over you. Sometimes it's really good for you to open up your word of God and start reading out all the things that have been declared over you and claim them as your own because they are promises that are there that have been kept in a covenant relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Claim them as yours. Live in that moment. Every time you get a little bit discouraged and every time you get a little bit weary from life, and let's be honest, that happens to us all. We're all a little tired right now. That's the exact moment you need to go back to the word of God and claim what belongs to you, what's rightfully yours.

Don't let hell try to cancel you out because it doesn't have the power nor the authority nor the jurisdiction to do so. But you as a child of the high most high God have the right to claim what belongs to you in the name of Jesus. You can say this is not going to happen to me that my family and my myself are going to say claim the promises of God in your life. I'll take you further. The promise became flesh. Herod. Hundreds of years passed in in Galatians 4:4. But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his son, born of a woman, born under the law, Jesus Christ, was born in Bethlehem. But when Herod learned that there was another king born, he became a little troubled.

He got a little upset because he liked being the king of the Jews. When the wise men showed up and said, "Where is he born of the king of the Jews?" Herod's like, "I'm right here." Like, "No, no. We've seen his star. We know there's been a birth birth taking place. We're here to celebrate and worship him." Then Herod when he saw in Matthew 2 verse 16 when Herod when he saw that he was deceived because the wise man went to go worship he said whenever you find the child come back and tell me I want to go worship him too liar liar pants on fire. When he found out that he was deceived by the wise men he was exceedingly angry and sent forth to put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem in all the districts from two years old and under according to the time which he had determined from the wise men.

But before Herod's soldiers arrived, God already warned Joseph in a dream in Matthew 21:13. Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared unto Joseph in a dream, saying, "Arise, take the young child and his mother. Flee Egypt and stay there until I bring you word, for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him." Joseph obeyed, and Jesus was preserved. You know why? Because God had a plan. God always has a plan. Pharaoh tried to destroy Israel's sons. Athaliah attempted to destroy the royal descendants. Herod tried to destroy the newborn king. Different generations and different rulers in different circumstances, but the same result. God's redemptive purpose continued moving forward because you can't stop what he already started. It just keeps marching on and on and on and on because my God is not a liar like you and I may end up being.

He's not a man that he should lie nor a man that he should repent when he said it's going to happen. Ladies and gentlemen, it's going to happen for you. If you have faith enough to believe and trust it for yourself because no earthly throne could ever throw the purpose of the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. If he made a decree, it will last forever and ever. His kingdom has no end. The cross was something that the enemy didn't see coming. For generations, God redempted God's redemptive promise had survived every attempt that the enemy tried to throw at it. But now, something was different. We find Jesus standing before Pilate facing the same sentence of death. Death. Interesting thing. The very very thing that the enemy always tries to taunt with this very thing that he always tries to to to convince you that that he has power and control over death.

Yeah. interesting that he thinks like he he has death and he had been using it up until that point. But here we see our Lord and Savior standing before Pilate. Judas had betrayed him. His disciples had scattered. The religious leaders had conspired against him. And now the crowd that was just worshiping him a few days earlier are now crying out, "Crucify him!" And from every earthly perspective, it appeared that the opposition had finally succeeded. But what looked like an end of God's promise was actually the fulfillment of his plan all along. The cross was not an accident. It wasn't. It wasn't an unexpected tragedy. It was the fulfillment of God's eternal redemptive purpose. Those who crucified Jesus were were responsible for their wickedness and the actions that they put in place.

But they had no idea that they were actually playing exactly into the plan that God had always purposed from the very beginning of time. It was there. Jesus understood this better than anyone. They were making decisions. That's why he said, "Father, forgive them. and they don't know what they're doing. John 10:17, "Therefore, my father loves me because I lay down my life that I may take it again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have the power to lay it down. I have the power to take it again. This command I have and received my father." Jesus wasn't dragged helplessly towards Calvary. No, no, don't don't think he's that somehow he physically wasn't able to handle the situation.

We we have little insights. In fact, I'll give you a little nugget here in John 18:6. They went to the garden to arrest him and it says this. As soon as he said unto them, I am he. They went backwards and fell to the ground. Did you know that they go to arrest him? You know, Judas says, "The one I give the kiss is the one in sea." And they go up and they even asking, "Are you I'm Jesus." As soon as he said his name out loud, they all fell to the ground. Did you know that? That's what the word of God says. There are there the whole the whole trove of them when he declares who he is, they all fall to the ground.

So guys, he wasn't short of power. He said, "I willingly lay down my life. I understand the assignment by which I am here today. I got to take care of a situation that mankind can't handle." Why? Because hell can't cancel Calvary. Every time the enemy thought he had the upper hand, to come to find out, it was simply plain and exactly everything that God wanted him to do. What looked like defeat was actually victory. They stripped him of his garments. They placed the crown of thorns upon his head. They beat him. They nailed him to a cross. And as he hung there, the religious leaders mocked him and said he he healed and saved others, but himself he can't save. They didn't get it. He wasn't trying to save himself.

He was trying to save me, right? And he was trying to save you. Don't misunderstand what he was doing that place. He he he had all authority in heaven and earth had been given unto him. He had the ability, but he willingly laid his life down so that you and I had a process back to what was lost in the garden. because hell can't cancel what Calvary has set in motion. He was staying on the cross because he had come to save us. The sacrifice had been offered. The price of redemption had been paid. And what appeared to be the greatest defeat in human history was actually the greatest victory the world has ever known. Colossians 2:14. Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances was against us, which was contrary to us.

He took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross, and having spoiled the principalities and powers, he made a show with them openly, triumphing over them in it. Look at that language. blotting out, nailing it to his cross, spoiling the principalities and powers, triumphant. The cross wasn't merely a place of suffering. The cross was a place of the greatest victory ever. Why? Because hell couldn't stop it. Hell can't stop it. Hell never will stop it. It doesn't have the ability, the authority, or the jurisdiction. Somebody needs to grab a hold of your circumstances are not ideal. I know life hasn't turned out the way you wanted it to, but it has not canceled out the promises nor the plan that God has for your life.

He still has a plan. Regardless of your mistakes and failures and shortcomings and labels, your hurts and your hang-ups, your addictions, none of those things matter right now. I promise you, the word of God stands. God still has a plan for you. He still has a purpose for you. He still has a ministry for you. He still has something he wants you to do. Hell can't cancel what Calvary set in motion. Somebody grab a hold of what I'm saying today. I know. I know there's hard times and difficult situations and circumstances you wish were different, but I promise you, [applause and cheering] Amen. Amen. Calvary changed everything. Hebrews 2, in so much then as the children of partakers of the flesh and blood, he himself likewise shared in the same that through death he might destroy him who had the power of death.

That is the devil. The very thing he tried to th to to flaunt in front of us and say, "Look, look, I'll kill you." He doesn't have the authority to do that. Amen. When Jesus was in the grave, he went down and took back the keys to death, hell, and the grave. No longer does he have those authority over you. So if he tries to tempt you and say he's going to kill you, he can't do that without God's permission. He can't He can't do anything to you without God's permission. Now, you have still have free will. You still have a free choice. You still have the ability to make decisions on your own. That's the beautiful thing about having the freedom of choice is you don't have to worry about what the enemy can do to you.

But you better worry about what you can do to you. You have a choice. But I'm here to remind you, not only do you have a choice, but to tell you that there is no enemy that can come against you, that can overcome you, that can overwhelm you. I'm here to tell you that what God has set in motion at Calvary is still marching forward today. And if you'll grab a hold of it and apply it in your life and live it out, I promise you, you'll hear one day, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant." Not well done, thou good and perfect servant. This isn't about perfection. This is about being obedient and faithful in your everyday life with God. You have the ability.

You have that victorious power living inside of you. Hell can't cancel Calvary. The promise is for you. And this is where the mo message gets a little bit personal. The victory of Calvary wasn't simply something for us just to preach about or for us to get excited about or for one generation to experience. Peter stood in a crowd of Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost in Acts chapter 2 and he preached Jesus Christ crucified, buried, and risen and exalted. He preached that pivotal foundational New Testament apostolic church message. And he said this in verse 36, "Therefore, let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus whom you crucified both Lord and Christ." And when they heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Men and brethren, what shall we do?"

They were convicted. Their eyes were being open to the truth of who Jesus was. And it was in that moment they they asked the best question that you could ever ask. What do I need to do? What do I need to do now that you've told me all that was going on and you told me the reality and the and the revelation of who God really is and who Jesus was. And and they said that Peter didn't tell them to simply admire the cross. He didn't simply say as I I talked about on Wednesday night about confessing with your mouth. He didn't say acknowledge that Jesus was a good man. He called them to respond to the gospel. He said in verse 38, Peter said in them, repent and let everyone of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins.

And you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For this promise, there it is. The promise, what promise? The promise that God started back in Genesis chapter 3. The promise had come to pass. Why? Because God always keeps his word. And the promise is still alive. Look at what Peter said. This promise is unto you and to your children and all that are far off, even as many as the Lord our God will call. That means the promise is still going today in 2026. The promise has not lost any of its power or any of its ability. It's as powerful as ever was. And I promise you that here in 2026, yes, in Murphersboro, Tennessee, that he's still pouring out his spirit and he desires to pour it out today to someone in this place if you'll grab a hold of the fact that God still desires to fill you with that same victorious overcoming power and spirit.

Why? Because hell can't cancel Calvary. It can't. It can't stop the promise that was set in motion from Genesis all the way through to Revelations. God keeps his word. The promise keeps marching on and marching on and marching on. And it's marching right here in 2026 into this sanctuary today to fill somebody with his spirit. Who wants it today? Who wants it? I don't want to be a salesman trying to convince you this. I'm here to tell you the victory is yours today. It is here in this room for you, for your family, for your marriage, for your home, for your body, for your life. The promise of redemption was announced in the garden, preserved through generations, filled through death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

It's for you, but unto you and your children that are far off. As I get ready to close today and musicians are going to come, I feel God wants to do something powerful in this place. I want to I want to speak to two different groups of people as I as I end today. First, to those who have maybe never fully responded to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Maybe you've believed in Jesus for years, but you've never you never taken a step of obedience that Peter preached about there on the day of Pentecost. Maybe you felt his presence before. Maybe you've been moved to tears a few times. Maybe you've repented. Maybe you've been baptized, but you've never been filled with his spirit. I want you to know he still does it today.

Amen. It is his desire for you to be filled with his spirit. Not just an experience for some people, but for all people. He wouldn't say that it was a gift to only give the gift to some and not all. Our God's not selfish like that. He's loving. His desire is that all be filled. When you read John 3, when Nicodemus went and asked the questions, what do you need to be do? You need to be born of the water and of the spirit. You got to be baptized and filled with his spirit. That's what Peter preached that day. So, I'm here to tell someone who has yet to experience it that I need to speak to something in this room. And I feel the Holy Ghost moving right now.

And I need some men and women of faith to agree with me. I'm about to make a statement. I rebuke the spirit of doubt out of this room right now in Jesus name. I take authority and jurisdiction in the name of Jesus in the sanctuary right now that there would be freedom of worship and praise and that faith would grow and abound in this room. I rebuke all fear and doubt be gone right now. Now listen, I feeling some opposition right now. Pastor Kevin, I've been praying for a while. I never received the Holy Ghost. Brother Gary Richards, I love you, man of God. How many years did you pray for the Holy Ghost? 51. For 51 years, this man prayed for the gift of the Holy Ghost.

And you were right here. Was it year and a half ago? Two years ago. Two years ago. Right here. After 51 years of praying for the Holy Ghost, God filled him with the gift of the Holy Ghost. Now, some of you have been praying for 51 minutes and you're frustrated. Okay. Here's what I know about receiving the receiving the Holy Ghost. that it comes through worship, genuine, heartfelt, reckless, abandoned worship. Just filling your mind with him and how good and faithful he's been. And I promise you, as you worship and your mind is completely engaged in worship, not on your troubles, not on your problems, not on your circumstances, not on why he hasn't done it yet. Like, you got to get that stuff out of your head.

And if you will start to worship him completely with your mind, I promise you he will fill you. I feel strongly somebody's going to get the Holy Ghost today. Evidence of speaking in tong. I feel that. I feel that in my spirit. But you got to go. The second group of people that I want to talk to you today, the second group to those who have been walking with God for years, maybe you've been fighting battles and you're left weary. Is anybody weary? And look, look, let's let's be honest. I'm a little tired. I'm a little weary. I'm not giving up. I'm not walking away from God. But I feel like this is I say it often times. If we're ever going to be honest anywhere, why not be honest in the house of God?

He knows. He knows I'm tired. He knows I'm weary. How many are tired and weary? Yeah. Say, "Thank you for being honest." See, that's important. I want you to do this one more time. I want you to raise your hands. Leave it up for just a second. If you're tired and weary now, just look around the room cuz some of you need to know. Look, you're not alone. Look around the room. Thank you. Thank you. We're not alone. We're all going through stuff. We're all dealing with the brokenness of sin in this world. We're all dealing with the brokenness of of humanity's decisions in the garden. But I want you to know our brokenness doesn't cancel Calvary. It doesn't. Yes. It doesn't negate the promises of God.

It doesn't. There are some things that God desires to take care of in our lifetime. And there are some things that that that may never get taken care of here. But you know what? I'm going to heaven one day or no more pain, no more sorrow, no more tears. So I'm I'm afraid that we often times feel like we have to have perfection here. And when we don't get perfection here, we get frustrated. We want to give up. And when we do, we walk away from the very promises that are meant to keep us. Not for just here. Like as Paul said, if I have hope in this life only, I'm of all men most miserable. Guys, I have a promise beyond this place.

Here, you know, I got hurts and pains here. I got things like corns on the bottom of your feet. Everybody get one of those things. God, help us all. And worker of iniquity, the devil right there. My wife's rolling her eyes right now. I'm just being honest. Maybe I'm the only person that has a corn on the bottom of their foot right now. in Jesus name. I want it gone. I want y'all pray for my foot. My left foot hurts right now. I'm not going to show it to you unless you want me to. Just kidding. We all face stuff. We all deal with things. But I'm not going to walk away from God. But I'm afraid what I'm seeing is this weariness is starting to take a toll.

And what I'm afraid of is we don't do enough reminding ourselves of the goodness of God. Oh, I don't have it perfect, Sister Kennedy, but you know what? I'm a blessed man. Every day I get up. Every day I draw breath in my lungs. Every day I'm able to call on his name. I'm a blessed man. Things aren't perfect in Kevin's life, but I'm a blessed man. As long as I have air in my lungs, I'm going to raise my hands. I'm going to say, "God, you are good to me. You are good to me. There's a few things I'd love for you to heal, but God, you're good to me. I'm going to worship you today." See, I'm I'm afraid that we are becoming consumed with the weariness and we're forgetting the promises because the God who made the promise is still faithful.

And we can while we cannot always predict how or when God's going to answer our prayers, we can stand up on the certainty of his word. 2 Corinthians 1:24, all the promises of God in him are yes and in him amen to the glory of God through us. Church, the enemy does not have the final word over your life. Sin does not have the final word over your life. Your past does not have the final word over your life. Jesus Christ has the final word. And if he can conquer death, hell, and the grave, he can certainly meet you in the altar today. So, as you stand with me right now, if you need to be filled with the spirit today, I want you to I want you to have some boldness.

Okay? I don't want you to be timid. I'm I'm calling for boldness today. If you need to be filled with his spirit, if you yet to be filled with the spirit, have some boldness to come down to the altar, show the enemy, you know what? You're not going to stop me today. I'm not going to fear or intimidation stop me. I'm going to step out because God, I want to be filled with your spirit. I'm going to take a step of faith today. Somebody take a step of faith. If you want, if you want it, like I can't force you to get, but if you want to be filled with the spirit, I wouldn't I would not set passively by I would activate my faith today.

I would muster up enough will and enough courage inside of me. Say, "God, if that promise is true and that I want it from my life today, [bell] come if you need forgiveness. Come if you need deliverance. Come if you need the Holy Ghost. Come if you need a miracle in your life. Come if you need renewed faith. Come if you need some strength for the weary life. Come. Come be refreshed in the Lord." Today it's prayer time. I invite all that want to come. All that want to come. Listen, I don't have a I don't have a formula. I don't say that you got to be in the altar 17 times or 24 times or 76 times. I don't I don't know. I don't know the number of times it takes.

I just know I want to activate my faith every time there's an opportunity cuz I want my God to know that even though I may not we be where I want to be, God, I desire for you to touch my life today. So, it's prayer time. I'm going to I'm going to pray. I'm going to start with a prayer and I want us to keep praying. They're going to sing and we're going to let God be God and do what God does best. Jesus, I'm so thankful for what you're doing in this room right now. I thankful for the faith that I feel active in this place. Lord, I pray right now for every hungry heart, for every broken heart, that you would meet them right down where they are.

Lord Jesus, I pray for an outpouring of your spirit like Acts chapter 2, like the day of Pentecost. In the name of Jesus, let there be an outpouring of your spirit in this place today. God, I pray for a restoration of faith. I pray God for strength for weary bodies and weary minds and weary souls. I pray God that we can be rejuvenated in your spirit and your presence in Jesus name.
