Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

A brand-new class: the Through the Bible quarter, and the Bible's makeup (0:00-4:13)

  • Cornwell opens with prayer and announces a brand-new class on a brand-new quarter whose subject is Through the Bible: the scripture studied in order, from Genesis 1:1, rather than sermons matched to the moment. He lays out the Bible's makeup — its word count, the logos (written word) and the rhema (spoken word), the Old Testament's 39 books written over some 1,600 years by 32 writers with God as sole author, and the New Testament's 27 books by eight writers.

Foundation texts: the sure word, the law fulfilled, all scripture inspired (4:13-15:46)

  • He reads the sure word of prophecy and warns against making a doctrine out of one verse lifted from its context; reads Christ's word that he came not to destroy the law but to fulfil it, every jot and tittle standing; and reads Paul's charge to Timothy — the persecutions endured, the holy scriptures known from childhood, and all scripture given by inspiration of God and profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction in righteousness — pressing that a person's ability to be saved depends on receiving reproof and correction.

Scriptures: 2 Peter 1:19-21; Matthew 5:17-18; 2 Timothy 3:10-16

The declaration: Genesis 1:1-2 and the Gap Theory (15:46-22:05)

  • He calls Genesis 1:1 probably the most difficult scripture in the Bible to receive in 2009, against the evolution taught in schools: God does not prove himself, he declares himself — in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth — and proves himself to those who accept the declaration. He then sets out what he calls the Gap Theory: something happened between verse 1 and verse 2, in an unstated span of time, leaving the earth without form and void and in darkness; the seven-day work that follows is a re-creation.

Scriptures: Genesis 1:1; Genesis 1:2

Lucifer's fall: the two sister scriptures (22:05-27:20)

  • To show what happened, he reads the fall of Lucifer, son of the morning — his fivefold resolve to ascend and be like the most high, and his bringing down to hell — and then the sister scripture in Ezekiel: the anointed cherub in Eden, perfect until iniquity was found in him, cast out and brought to ashes. Everything Satan touches, he teaches, turns to chaos; cast to the earth, he threw God's creation into a chaotic mess.

Scriptures: Isaiah 14:12-17; Ezekiel 28:13-19

The days of creation (27:20-36:09)

  • He begins the seven-day creative act: light spoken and divided from darkness; the firmament dividing the waters; the waters gathered, dry land appearing, and the earth bringing forth grass, herb, and fruit tree after its kind; and the two great lights set for signs, seasons, days, and years. Along the way he urges memorizing Genesis 1 and visualizing it in prayer as a way into God's presence and healing.

Scriptures: Genesis 1:3-5; Genesis 1:6-8; Genesis 1:9-13; Genesis 1:14-19

The living creatures and the making of man (36:09-40:00)

  • The earth brings forth the living creatures after their kind; God makes man in his image, male and female, blesses them, and gives dominion — Cornwell pauses on the word "replenish" as a further suggestion of the Gap Theory. On the seventh day God ends his work and rests, blessing and sanctifying the day; and Cornwell notes that each day begins with "and God said" — God still works by speaking.

Scriptures: Genesis 1:24-25; Genesis 1:26-28; Genesis 2:2-3

How God made the man, and what man is (40:00-46:58)

  • Chapter 2 verse 7, he says, explains exactly what God did on the sixth day: the Lord formed man from the dust of the ground, as a potter forms clay, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life — a breath given to no other being — and placed him in the garden planted eastward in Eden. Against the cheapening of human life he reads Psalm 8: what is man, that God is mindful of him, made a little lower than the angels, crowned with glory and honour, and given dominion.

Scriptures: Genesis 2:7; Genesis 2:8; Psalm 8:3-9

The instruction manual: the garden and the command (46:58-54:04)

  • God gave man an instruction manual: the man is put in the garden to dress and keep it, and commanded that of every tree he may freely eat except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, on pain of death. Cornwell asks why God placed such a tree in the garden and answers that God made man a free moral agent — unlike the geese and salmon that return by instinct, man must choose; a story from his assistant-pastor days in a little Louisiana town makes the point that no one can be made to live for God.

Scriptures: Genesis 2:15-17

The making of woman (54:04-57:16)

  • God declares it not good that the man should be alone and makes him a help meet — one who surrounds him. The Lord causes a deep sleep, takes a rib from the man's side — not from his head to rule him, nor his foot to be trampled — and makes the woman; the man names her Woman, and the lesson presses leaving and cleaving: there can be no cleaving unless there is some leaving. Both are naked and not ashamed.

Scriptures: Genesis 2:18; Genesis 2:21-25

The serpent and the fall (57:16-1:05:39)

  • The serpent, more subtle than any beast, questions God's word; the woman answers with the added "neither shall you touch it," which, Cornwell notes, God had not said — the man had hedged the command. The serpent's one-word difference ("not surely die") mixed a lie with a truth — your eyes shall be opened — and produced error; the woman eats and gives to her husband. Their eyes are opened, shame and fear enter, they sew fig leaves, hide from God's voice, and the blame game begins: the man blames the woman God gave him, the woman blames the serpent.

Scriptures: Genesis 3:1-6; Genesis 3:8-13

The first prophecy and the coats of skins (1:05:39-1:10:29)

  • God curses the serpent and gives the first prophecy: enmity between the serpent's seed and the woman's seed, the serpent's head bruised at the cost of the seed's bruised heel — an exact picture of Christ on the cross, victorious over death, hell, and the grave. Then the coats of skins: God's righteousness, which had to kill man, and God's love, which would not let him, met and produced mercy, satisfied by the shedding of an innocent lamb's blood — the doctrine of substitution — every Old Testament sacrifice pointing to the Lamb of God. He closes in prayer, giving God honour for his mercy.

uh we are starting a a brand new class tonight and we want to ask the Lord to be with us every lesson would you pray with that with me almighty God we thank you for the enormous presence of the holy spirit that abides with us as we study the word and we pray that you would anoint our lips and anoint our ears to hear and to receive the engrafted word which is able to save our souls and Lord God I pray that you'd bless the word to the hearer and the speaker tonight in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ everybody said amen amen please be seated we are starting a a brand new quarter tonight and uh the subject of this quarter's lessons is going to be through the Bible and we are we're going to study the scripture as it is laid out for us uh from the word of God when you study the Bible in its entirety and uh it's one of the most fascinating studies that anybody could ever undertake uh when you go to church Sunday after a Sunday you only hear bits and pieces of the word and and most pastors and most preachers don't start at Genesis 1 And1 and work their way Through the Bible but rather they they match their sermons with the needs of the people for that moment or that hour or for that day and so you can go to church for years and years and never fully comprehend or understand what the entirety of the Bible is really all about and so I'm going to slow down for the next few weeks and and I'm we're going to study the scripture and see if we can find out what the scripture and the Bible is really all about and uh I want you to take your Bible with me please and uh we're going to ask a few questions as we get started uh we know the Bible has 900 and 93,000 words almost 1 million words is in the scripture there are two types of word there is the logos which is is the written word and then then there there is the Rema which is the spoken word in other words uh when you receive a word from God during the preaching for instance that is a Rema that is God takes a small portion of his word and he speaks that to your spirit and uh and you receive a Rema or a word from God but we're going to be studying the logos uh in its entirety now now the Bible consists of two Testaments the old and the New Testament the Old Testament is made up of 39 separate books in the Old Testament uh It Was Written over a period of 1600 years from the time the first writer pinned the words of Genesis 1 And1 until the end of Malachi it covers a period of about 1,600 years it was written by 32 different individuals and I I like to add this the Bible was written by men and women now you thought I was going to say the Bible was written by God but God did not write the Bible he is the author of The Bible he dictated as the secretaries the preachers the ministers wrote it down can I have it amen and uh it was written by 32 different men but yet it only has one author and the author of this book is almighty God Amen praise God for that it is inherent infallible and complete in the word of God look at second Peter chap 1 and verse 19 uh for just a moment and let me show you something about the word first uh 2 Peter 1 and verse 19 we have also a more sure word of prop prophecy wherein to you do well that you take heed as a light that shineth in a dark place under the day Dawn and the day star rise in your heart knowing this first that no Prophecy of the scriptures is of any private interpretation now what does that mean private interpretation it simply means this you cannot take one verse lift it out of its context and make a Doctrine out of one verse right right

right if I try to do it reject it if somebody else tries to do it reject it because in the mouth of two or three Witnesses let everything be established you understand that praise God and so uh and and then it says for the prophecy or the word came not in Old Time by the will of man but holy men of God spake or wrote as they were moved by the holy ghost or the almighty God this book is God breathe praise God for that amen and then uh uh the New Testament is made up of five books of the law 12 books of history and most of them Jewish history uh it it has uh five poetic books and then it has 17 books of Prophecy and I'm looking forward to the time when we get in to those books of Prophecy even though the Old Testament consists of 39 separate books written by 32 different writers or appeared of 1600 years they were perit they were only permitted to write down what was given to them by the almighty God uh I like to say they were only the secretaries uh that that God wrote the Bible through the secretaries as they wrote down but it was given by God now the New Testament uh is quite similar to the Old Testament in that it's made up of 27 separate books It Was Written over a period of 100 years and uh it was written by eight different writers and the New Testament uh is made up of four books of the biographies of Christ Matthew Mark Luke and John uh there was one book of History uh it was the history of the New Testament Church and what book was that was the book of The Acts of the Apostles then there were 13 books called the Pauline Epistles that were written by the Apostle Paul and then there was eight books of General Epistles that were written by various men like Peter and James and John uh and and even though uh the historians say 13 books of Pauline and eight books of General it all depends on who you contribute the book of Hebrews to as to whether Paul wrote 14 or 13 of those books and I personally believe that Hebrews has contributed uh to the Apostle Paul but be that as it may uh it's in the book and we'll just deal with that praise God and then there was one book of Prophecy which was the Book of Revelation praise God now there's something interesting about the scripture that's very important go to Matthew Chapter 5 and let's look at verse 17 for a moment Matthew 5 and verse 17 think not that I am come to destroy the law are the word Jesus is standing and he's speaking this in his great Sermon on the Mount he says first of all I did not come to destroy the book aren't you glad for that but he said I am not come to destroy but I am come to fulfill or to reveal or to show you what this word means for instance uh when you look at the Tabernacle in the wilderness every covering every Fastener every color every altar every uh candleabra every table everything in that in that Old Testament Tabernacle uh portrayed in some way the death burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ am and so the Lord came to only let the people know what it stood for for verily I say unto you verse number 18 Till Heaven and Earth shall pass away one jot or one tit shall in no wise pass from the law till all be fulfilled praise God now I believe that this book can be relied upon am I believe in this book right it aggravates me when people that don't even believe the book teach the book you go to a a a Collegiate uh a Bible class where some atheistic a professor is teaching the Bible as literature makes me sick because the word of God is being held by swine this is a sacred

book this is a holy book this is our book this is God's book praise God I don't think that we ought to be using the book as an axe or vengence or to get to somebody or to prove a point I believe the book ought to be able to speak to us now my dander is getting up a little bit but I know a lot of people that that that study the Bible and and and they don't live nowhere near right but they like to quote the book to get to you that's not what this book is made for it's too sacred for that this is God's holy revealed word to you and I amen one one renowned aist said one time that there will come a time when this book will no longer be published and there will no be there'll be no copies left anywhere in the world and and this this Bible will be a forgotten book that it'll be Antiquated outdated and no longer useful but one writer said this book is like a great Anvil The Atheist can take their Hammers and smite it but when the atheist is gone and the hammer is destroyed the Anvil will still stand praise God for this book amen I've only been living for God uh for something like uh 41 or 42 years and I realize that's not a lot of time and I realize that I'm still a young whipper snapper wet behind the ears but I'm going to tell you something th this book is the same to me today as it was in 1967 amen I've seen a lot of changes in 40 years but one thing that has not changed is this book there's been a lot of changes in my life that this book has created for me praise God look at in 2 Timothy chap 3 and verse number 10 but thou H has fully known my Doctrine Paul is writing and says you have known my manner of life my purpose my faith my longsuffering my charity and my patience my persecution afflictions which came it to me at Antioch at Iconium at lisr what persecutions I endured but out of them all the Lord delivered me yay and all that will live Godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution amen but evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse deceiving and being deceived but continue thou in the things which thou has learned and hasth been assured of knowing of whom thou has learned it's it's not only important to know the book but you ought to know the person that teaches that book amen can I have an amen and that from a child thou Hast known the he didn't say the scriptures Paul said thou has known the holy scriptures which are able to make thee wise unto salvation this book has great wisdom that will impart to you great wisdom amen amen I had a man a few days ago came to me for some advice and I prayed with him and I gave him some very Godly advice from this word he chose not to receive that word and when he ended up shipwreck he came back to me and he said if I would have only listened to you I said no no no it's not me that you got to listen to it is the words of God through the anointed man that you need to listen to can I have a Amen to that now all scripture verse 16 not some of the scripture I'm going to lay the foundation for us here this tonight all scripture is given by the inspiration of God that literally means it is breathed by God it is the Breath of God Amen okay I don't think you quite understand the gravity of what I've just said all scripture is given by the inspiration of God and is profitable for number one it's profitable for Doctrine for teaching it's no it's it's profitable for reproof for correction and for instruction in righteousness I made a statement one day that your ability to be saved depends upon your ability to receive reproof and correction and

instruction that's right if you are Beyond receiving instruction if you cannot be reproved or you cannot be rebuked or cannot be corrected there's no way that you can ever be saved because if if God himself cannot change you if God himself cannot move you then you are not a converted human being because when you come to Jesus don't we say Lord you are my Lord and Master you are the ruler of my life amen now let me talk about the Declaration uh go to Genesis chapter 1 and verse one and let let's begin the study of the scriptures Through the Bible and uh let me share some things with you look at Genesis 1 and verse one I would say in 2009 that this is probably the most difficult scripture in all the Bible to receive when you think of all the universities when you think of all the atheists when you think of all the technology when you think of all the agnostics and the Skeptics and the critics when you think of all the the lust and the entertainment world that we that we live with it almost seem like that this is an Antiquated verse and I'm going to quote it to you I'm going to read it and I'm going to quote it in the beginning God created the heavens and the Earth he didn't say that that man or a slimy worm crawled out of the Nile River and over the course of 14 billion years developed two legs two arms eyeballs stood upright he didn't do that he doesn't even tell us at this point how he done it but God makes a de he declares himself in the beginning I created the heavens and the Earth and when you think of the world we live in that's hard to believe because in our schools our kids are taught from the first grade that we evolved and we're taught everything there is against God and against faith and you know what God does not try to prove this statement amen right God does not try to prove himself to you and I but from the very outset of our faith he declares himself in the beginning I created the heavens and the Earth am does not prove himself he simply declares himself but but if we can receive accept and believe that declaration oh Hallelujah it is amazing how he'll prove himself to you over and over and and over again when somebody asked me uh how can you have faith in this hour I said because God has proven himself to me over and over and over again and they say well he never proved himself to me I said well there's a qualification for him to prove himself they said what's that I said in the beginning God created the Heaven and the Earth you've got to accept that declaration you've got to receive that decaration and You' got to believe that declaration and once you do he will prove himself over and over and over and over and over to you again and again that's right I can stand right here and and and and talk for five or six straight hours of just things that God has done in my life that were so miraculous that they believe they they seem almost unbelievable except they did happen and every time God does something it just lets me know he's that much more alive and that he's that much more in our hearts in our lives and in our Spirits praise God Amen don't don't curse The Atheist uh because they don't believe come on they they cannot believe uh God's not going to prove himself I've had people say well if there's a God let him prove himself to me he won't do it you got to believe First actually you got to receive his declaration and so he puts the very

hardest verse in the Bible he doesn't hide it in the middle of the book so you can't find it he puts it right there first in the beginning I created the heavens and the Earth can I have an amen now look at verse number two now Genesis 1:1 is the complete story of creation in only one verse right one verse the whole creative story in one verse and then and the Earth was without form wait a minute whoa whoa time time out I thought God when he created something he created everything complete and perfect and whole and he does now we read a verse it says the Earth in the beginning God created the heavens and the Earth that says the Earth was without form and void and darkness was upon the face of the deep and the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters something happened between verse one and verse two now I call call it the Gap Theory would you like me to explain the Gap Theory to you this may clear up something for some of you the Gap theory is simply this something happened between verse one and verse two we are not told how much time elapsed between verse one and verse number two we're not told how much time La between verse two and verse three can I have an amen but this is what we do believe look at Isaiah 14 we know that something happened after God created this world that threw our world into a chaotic mess when you when you equate chaos you do not equate chaos with God amen but rather who do you createa who do you identify chaos with all right look at Isaiah 14 and verse one how art thou fallen from Heaven oh Lucifer son of the morning how art thou cut down to the ground which did weaken the Nations for thou H has said in thine heart I will Ascend into heaven I will exalt my throne above the stars of God I will set also upon the Mount of the congregation in the Sid of the north I will Ascend into the heights of the clouds I will be like the most high yet Thou shalt be brought down to Hell to the sides of the pit they that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee and consider thee saying is this the man that made the Earth to tremble that did Shake kingdoms that made the world as a Wilderness and destroyed the cities thereof and open not the house of his prisoners now we know that this story is about Lucifer the son of the morning being kicked out of heaven now look at Ezekiel chapter 28 and let me give you a sister scripture to those chapter 28 and verse 13 thou H has been in Eden the Garden of God every precious stone with thy covering the Sardis took F Diamond Barrel onx Jasper Sapphire Emerald the carbonal and gold the workmanship of thy Tab and of thy pipes was prepared in thee that the day when thou was created Thou Art the anointed cherub there were three cherubs Michael Gabriel and Lucifer okay I have sent thee so thou was upon the holy mountain of God thou has walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire thou was perfect in thy ways from the day that thou was created until iniquity was found in thee by the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence thou has sinned therefore I will cast thee as a profane out of the Mountain of God I will destroy thee Oh covering Cher from the midst of the stones of fire thy heart was lifted up because of thy Beauty thou H has corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness will cast thee to the ground I will lay thee before kings that they may behold thee thou has defiled thy Sanctuary by the multitude of thy iniquity by the

iniquity of thy traffic therefore I will bring forth the fire from the midst of thee it shall devour thee and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth and the sight of all men that behold thee and and they that Know Thee among the people shall be astonished at thee Thou shalt be a terror and never shalt thou be anymore we we're talking about Lucifer the son of the morning the anointed Cher that cover the man that was in charge of the music Someone said if there's ever trouble in a church it will usually come through the music department or the nursery oh praise God hallelujah everything that Satan touches turns to chaos do you you think for one moment Satan wants you to have great peace does he want you to be established and and on a solid foundation no he doesn't he wants you to have chaos in your life he wants your family to have chaos he wants Society to be in chaos someone once said that that communism can never rule this Earth or or dictators can never rule this Earth until first of all uh there is a great chaotic mess and someone said that the Antichrist cannot rise in the time of Peace so he has to create chaos in order for evil to rule and so when when Satan was cast to this earth he throw God's creation into a chaotic mess somebody said Do You Believe In dinosaurs I have no reason not to believe in dinosaurs Amen on I have no reason to believe that in that first world that they were not created beings or beasts but when Satan was cast to the ground the world was thrown into turmoil and a chaotic mess am amen but that does not destroy God's word because in chapter two excuse me CH chapter in verse number three let's look at verse number three chapter 1 and verse number three and God said now we're going to start with a seven-day creative act of God now remember in the beginning God created the heavens and the Earth how long does it take God to create only as long as it takes him to speak can I have an amen amen and God said notice he didn't do he said let there be light and there was light and God saw the light it was good and God divided the light from the darkness and God called the light day and the Darkness he called night and the evening and the morning was the first day I think what God is saying is that when he recreated this world he used a system our God is a very organized God he keeps everything in perfect order if you don't believe it pick up your Almanac and it'll tell you exactly how bright the moon is going to be on any given Night 40 years from now spring always starts on March the 21st and it's been starting on March the 21st or 20th or whatever for ever since I discovered America and you know what a 100 years from now spring is still going to start in March God is a very orderly God Amen and then look at verse six and God saiden oh Hallelujah I'm going to stop right here and and just share something with you if you ever need a healing if you ever need God's presence take a few minutes or few hours or a few days or a few months depending on your intellect and memorize the first chapter of the Book of Genesis and when you get it memorized substantially find you a a a prayer room

and kneel down and visualize these scriptures one at a time let them feel your mind and and repeat them back to God in your mind without moving your lips and when you start seeing God's creative act in your mind his presence will come to you and where the presence of God is everything that he has is available to you A lot of people don't receive healing because they never fill their conscience and their mind with the presence of almighty God when I've gone through my most difficult problems I have memorized the first chapter of the Book of Genesis and when I get in a dark prayer room and I kneel down and I get to praying when I start visualizing Genesis 1 uh the whole chapter verse by verse word by word there's something about believing that that gives you hope that God can do anything that you have need of him to do he will heal today amen there's nothing wrong with God's healing it's something wrong with our believing amen if God is not a miracle God why are we here right praise God this book is miraculous his presence in US is miraculous look at verse number six and God said let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters and let it divide the waters from the water thank God thank God for humidity and God made the firmament divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament and was so and God called the firmament in heaven and the evening and the morning with a second day now look at verse look at verse number nine I like this and God said let the waters under the heaven be gathered together into one place and let the dry land appear and it was so you know scientists talk about the Continental drifts it talked about how at one time there was just one huge land mass and that it broke off and formed Europe and Asia and then the Americas and if you take the map you can push it all together and put it all back in place again amen God knew that a long time before we did there's nothing new to God we're just discovering what God did he knew there was going to be earthquakes that's how he made the Earth praise God and God said let let the waters be gathered and and God called the dry land Earth and the Gathering Together of the waters called the Seas and God saw that it was good now here's a here's what's amazing okay uh and and the days that this book was written they only believed in one body of water and yet God said that he was going to call the waters the Seas plural and God saw that it was good and God said let the Earth bring forth grass the herb yielding seed the fruit uh yielding fruit after his kind uh whose seed is in itself upon the Earth and it was so and the Earth brought forth grass and Herb yielding seed after his kind and the tree yielding fruit which seed was in itself after his kind and God saw that it was good and the morning and evening was the third day God made the land and he made the seed praise God am he said it was good now look at and and by the way he said it brought forth after its own kind I'm glad that you cannot cross a chimpanzee with a human being now they do cross a donkey and a horse and get a mule but a mule can't reproduce amen look at verse number 14 and God said let there be light in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night let them be for signs and for seasons for days and years and let them be for lights the firment of the Heavens to give light upon the Earth and it was so and God made two great light the greater light to rule by day and the Lesser light to rule by night he made the Stars a so and God set them in The Firm of Heaven to give light upon the Earth and to rule over the day and over the night and divide the light from darkness and

God saw that it was good the evening morning with the fourth day now I don't know how many stars there are they say that from one side of the universe to the other is 300 million light years that's a long way amen and that the naked eye can only see just very few something like 2,000 visible stars in the night sky but when they launched the Hubble Space Telescope and they look far into the heavens it makes you realize we serve a great big God and not only is he a great big God hallelujah look at verse 24 and God said said let the Earth bring forth the living creature after his kind cattle and creeping things and beast of the earth after his kind it was so and God made the Beast of the earth after his kind cattle after to their kind everything that creepeth upon the Earth after his kind and God saw it was good now look at verse number 26 God still doing pretty good right now he's still doing good and God said let us make man in our image who was God speaking to Isaiah chap 11 I believe he was talking number one to his attributes I believe he could be talking to the Angelic beings the cherubs we know he was not talking to another God because God said there's no other God beside me okay and God said let us make man in our image after our likeness let them have dominion over the fish of the sea over the foul of the air over the cattle over all the Earth and over every creeping thing that creth on the earth when when when royalty speaks of it itself when the Queen of England for instance speaks she never says I that's right she always says we it's called the plural of majesty but what's this in verse 27 so God created man in his own image okay in the image of God created he him male and female created ated he them and God blessed them and God said to them be fruitful and multiply I I was at the hospital today and I was talking to a family and I said how many brothers and sisters do you have and he said well there was eight boys and six girls I said man y'all y'all fulfill the scripture God said go and replenish the Earth and y'all did it by yourself amen now go to verse number 28 be fruitful and multiply replenish the Earth subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea over the fowl of the air and over every creeping thing that moveth upon the earth I want you to notice one word in this verse replenish what does replenish mean when you empty a glass of water you replenish the water it's just another thought that maybe the Gap Theory might be right that there was a world that Satan throwed into chaos and God recreated the Earth in a 7 day period of time now what did he do on the seventh day he rested look at verse two of chapter 2 thus the heavens and the Earth were finished and the host of them and on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made and God blessed the seventh day and Sanctified it because that he and in it he had rested from all the work which God created male and female now there's something here that I want to share with

you please note that at the beginning of each day it starts with a phrase and God said if you are healed it will be be because God speaks healing into you amen if you receive the spirit of God it'll be because God speaks his Spirit into you that is the way God works today and that he speaks to us and I might add he is still speaking to us day now let let's talk about man that's a pretty good subject all right look at chapter 2: 7 let me let me let me go back just a minute and and and and rephrase something Genesis 1 And1 the whole story of Creation in one verse beginning at verse three to the end of the chapter it is the seven 7 Day creative work of God in which God recreated this world and then in Chapter 2 and verse 7 God says I want to explain to you exactly what I did on the sixth day now he doesn't go into great detail of how he made the apple seed or the par seed or the chimpanzee or the monkey or the giraffe or the gorilla but he does take time to tell us exactly how he made the man look at verse seven and the Lord formed man he formed him if you want to know what that means same thing as the Potter wheel the clay in his hands he formed it with his hands amen of the Dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and Man became a living being or a living soul I can't say that I would like to have been there that day because I'd be dead now but you if you want your imagination to run wild just imagine God reaching down picking up the dust taking a little water from the River sprinkling it on the dust making the clay amen someone said that that man is 70% water and 30% dust and when you mix water and dust together all you get is mud and a woman said that's exactly what man is mud amen and the Lord planted a garden Eastward in Eden and there he put the man man whom he had formed now the Lord gives us some details of how he made the man and how God put his own breath into him he didn't breathe in the nostrils of any other being amen when I look at how cheap human life is today it makes me sad that we disrespect God's highest Creation in this world when I think about the fact that there are 2 and a half million abortions of human beings and the total disregard for human life when I think about the same crowd that wants to kill the the unborn baby yet they want to spare the hardened murderer that does not make sense right I could go along with abolishing the death penalty if they would also abolish abortion but why keep the the drags of society the hardened murderer alive and then kill the the human being that one day could be born and find aure perect cancer look at Psalms chapter 8 Psalms chapter 8 and verse number three when I consider thy heavens and the work of thy fingers the moon and the stars which thou has ordained what is man that thou art mindful of him let me tell you something we may forget The Unborn we may forget the child but every human being is in the mind of almighty God Amen there's no such thing as an

unimportant human being I like to say sometimes at church uh that that a church should be very Cosmopolitan we should have people in the church from every Walk of Life every race every color every Creed every nationality can I have an amen I believe we're able to get along amen if we are born again Christians we'll be able to get along what is man that thou art mindful of him the son of man that thou visitest him for thou has made him a little lower than the angels and has crowned him with glory and With Honor you are important in the sight of almighty God Amen amen you are so important that God made Provisions for you to escape hell and to walk on streets of gold can I have an amen to that th made him to have dominion over the works of thy hand thou has put all things under his feet all sheep and oxen yay and the Beast of the field the foul of the air the fish of the sea and whatsoever passes through the paths of the sea oh oh Lord our Lord how excellent is thy name in all of the earth amen I think and I believe that there are cures for diabetes and Cancers and heart disease and other disease you know why I believe that because I believe that God put that in man to have dominion over every creation of God amen but when God made man he made him with an instruction manual there was a lady a few years ago she had a child she was a young mother they took the baby home and the baby got kic now colic is not a medical professional term it just means a squalling brat I mean and and and she finally got exasperated and her husband was trying to comfort her and she said I just don't know what to do would would somebody please give me an instruction manual when you when you grow up you are writing the manual for your mother look at chapter 2 and verse number 15 he gave us he gave us an instruction manual the Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it and the Lord what commanded I hate that word command hand nobody's going to tell me what to do but God commanded the man saying of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat amen but of the tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil Thou shalt not eat of it for in the day that thou eatest thereof Thou shalt surely die I know that God loves me do you know that God loves you then why would God put the man in a garden knowing that there was a tree in that Garden that if he ate of that tree he would die we are not the Canadian goose are geese we're not the swallows from San Juan capistran we're not the tiny Songbird that that migrates 6,000 miles a year we're human beings the geese they fly from Alaska all the way across the continental United States down into the Gulf of Mexico every year and they fly back again they nest in the same place the salmon leaves the Columbia

River I was in on the Columbia River and I went to one of the fish hatcheries and they were releasing uh the the fingerlings the the the the the the small fish the fry whatever they call them they they opened a valve and a huge pipe that come from the Hatchery down the hill and they release the salmon through that spout flows into a the creek the creek goes into the the Columbia River from the Columbia River it goes out of the Pacific Ocean they travel 6,000 miles 3 years later they turn around and migrate back up the Columbia River up the tributaries back up in the very same place that they were hatched and and the day I was there I was with some more preachers and it was so sad to see these 25 and 30 pound salmon jumping up out of the the river out of the tributary trying to get back in that pipe they they don't have a choice that's how God made them but God put that tree in the midst of the garden gave instructions to not eat it if you eat it you'll die because he wanted you to have the power of choice you are a free moral agent you and you alone have to decide your course in life if you want to be a Christian there's nobody can stop you from being a Christian if you want to be a sinner there's nobody can make you be a Christian years ago uh I was an assistant pastor in a little town called cax Louisiana and we had a great Revival had a lot of people converted and in that Revival a woman was converted so uh one day she came to me she said I'd like for you to visit my husband he is a game wardon and I'd like for you to come out Sunday and have dinner with us and uh and he said now I must warn you ahead of time that my husband said that if you try to convert him he was going to kill me well that makes you lose your appetite I said no problem so we went out and we had dinner with them and the husband was a about 64 very mean looking man hnery hateful and uh I got to talk about what he liked to talk about hunting and fishing and and being a game Ardon and catching criminals and and and after a while he realized that I was not going to mention God to him and he just relaxed and he turned into be a nice guy and and after about two hours of having fellowship and fun and food and and he was completely relaxed I looked at him I said you must think I'm a fool he said what I said you must think I'm a fool he said what do you mean I said your wife said that if I mention God that you're going to do me bodily harm I said you must really think that I'm a stupid preacher I said not not that I wouldn't mention God to you because I'm not afraid of your gun or whatever you going to use but I said you got to give me more credit than that I said what good would it do if I put a 45 pistol to your head March you down to the church March you down to the altar put a gun to your head and said repent or perish I said nobody can make you live for God you got to live for God because you want to live for God that's why I like to live for God because everybody lives for God wants to live for God and those that don't want God they don't live for him right can I have an amen now Chapter 2 Verse 18 now the Lord's done good up until this point I said the Lord has done good up to this point amen there should be 100% amens cuz he has done good up to this point amen and the Lord God said it is not good that the man should be alone I will make a help meat for him now don't get caught up in the language here help meat has a very specific definition help me means one who

surrounds God wants to give man somebody to be above him beneath him to his left to his right in front and in back it sound to me like that's the matrimony part now I hate to admit being henpecked but I am I just happened to like the H that does the pecking verse 21 the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam and he slept he went to bed single and woke up married I got friends that did that they got drunk passed out woke up in bed with their wife took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh instead thereof he did not take the bone from Adam's head to be over him he did not take the bone from Adam's foot for him to trample upon her but he took that rib from his side amen and the rib which the Lord God had Tak from man made he a woman and brought her unto the man and Adam said this is now bone of my bone Flesh of My Flesh she shall be called wo man because she was taken out of man therefore therefore now this is a problem in this Century shall a man leave his father and mother and shall cleave unto his wife and they shall be one flesh and there can be no no cleaving unless there is some leaving am amen can I have an amen and they were both naked and the man his wife were not ashamed now so far so good we have no idea how long they lived in harmony in that Garden we don't know it's not important but we do know that Satan was cast down to the Earth don't we we know that look at Genesis 3:1 the devil enters the garden and causes the woman to question God the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field it does not say that the the serpent was a snake Okay we always identify the Devil with a snake and he is a sneaky snake he said unto the woman yay has God said You shall not eat of every tree of the garden and and the woman answers him and the woman said to the serpant we may eat of the fruit of the Trees of the garden but of the fruit of the tree which in the mid midst of the garden God has said You shall not eat it neither shall you touch it lest you now wait a minute God didn't say that evidently man was so concerned about obeying God that he told his wife we're not not are we not going to eat it we're not going to touch it that's a pretty good that's not a bad idea if something's wrong don't even go around it when my kids were growing up we had to uh pass by a honky ton to get home and I told my kids I said take the block around the honky ton don't even drive by The Honky Tong don't don't even allow yourself to be tempted he did not even want Eve to even approach that tree and so she thought that God had said not only could they not eat it but they could not touch it amen and the serpent said to the woman ye shall not sure there was only one word difference between what God Said and what the devil said it's amazing how many times Satan sounds like God but you better make sure that the devil quotes it right the serp said of the woman you shall not surely die for God do know the

day you eat thereof your eyes shall be open and you shall be as Gods knowing good and evil let me put this scenario when when when when the devil said You shall not surely die I could see that woman just as clear as I'm standing here those long fingernails she reached out to take a swipe at the Devil because he lied to her and the devil jumped up said wait wait wait wait wait wait who whoa whoa whoa your eyes will be open and you'll know good from Evil he did tell the truth there he M and that's way the devil always works he mixes the lie with the truth and what you get when you mix lie with the truth you always get error we're living in a world of relativism come on Amen it depends on what age you live in as to whether something's right or wrong there's no black and white anymore everything's in a gray area but you know what if you're going to live the life that God wants you to live you got to have some absolutes in your life amen you got to teach your children right from wrong and and who's going to be the judge of right and wrong are you going to be the judge of right and wrong are you going to let your neighbors be the the judge of right and wrong are you going to have to school teacher be the judge of what's right and wrong why not go back to the word of God and let the word decide for us what's right and what's wrong because the Bible has absolutes in it if there was ever time that this generation is so confused that they need a direction as to what's right and what's wrong am amen verse six and when the woman saw that the tree was good for food Pleasant to the eye tree to be desire to make one wives she took of the fruit thereof and did eat and gave also to her henpeck husband with her and he did eat amen the eyes were open they have sin and what did they do when their eyes popped open they knew that they were naked their shame started appearing and and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves AP but you know there's something about fig Le what happens to a fig Leaf when it dries up it splits and since God doesn't like split skirts something else not only did their shame appear but they found out what fear was and they heard the voice of the Lord God Walking In The Garden of the cool day and Adam his wife hid the God is not hiding from our society our society is hiding from God and the Lord called unto Adam and said Where Art Thou and he said I heard thy voice in the garden and I was afraid because I was naked and I hid myself they are now exposed who said uh who told thee that thou was naked hast thou eaten the tree where of th commenity that shall should not eat and then the blame game starts amen when a policeman pulls somebody over it's always somebody else's fault I had a wreck one time I run a stop sign and I hit this guy and when a policeman came said uh why'd you do that I said it's my wife's fault I said for years and years she's always told me how to drive and so when I got behind the wheel I went brain dead but then on this particular day she went brain dead too and I ran through the stop sign she didn't tell me you always got to blame somebody else and and and what what the the man said the woman now he's not blaming the woman now he said the woman you gave you it's your fault God I didn't ask you for this woman for fact I I didn't even get married with my eyes wide open and I tell young people now I said if you get married you got to open your eyes wide open I said Adam and Eve is the only one had excuse of getting married with their eyes closed amen watch this the and the Lord said un The Woman verse 13 what is this thou has done and the woman said it was a

Serpent's fault they still can't come down to the Brass tax it was my fault and when it that's what repentance is all about when you repent you've got to say I have sinned right and God knows when you really mean it or when you're just trying to say words amen now the Lord puts a curse on The Serpent and then he gives us the first prophecy we we find the nature of God here okay verse 15 I will put enmity speaking to the devil between thee and the woman the devil and the woman and between thy seed and her seed it shall bruise the seed of the woman shall bruise thy head and in the process you'll bruise his heel this was an exact picture of the woman her seed Jesus Christ hanging on a cross with his heel bruised but when he shed that blood on and he gave up The Ghost and he died he came out of the Grave Victorious over death hell and the grave he smokee the devil in his head this is one of the greatest stories of redemption that you could possibly imagine that God loved us so much amen he said in the day you eat the fruit thereof you're going to die but there was something in God that that the Lord did not know himself how strong it was and that was his love for mankind look at verse number uh 21 andto Adam also and his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins and clothed them when the Lord saw Adam and Eve when they sinned the violence of God nobody can can hate more than God God hates sin more than anybody else in the world nobody can out love God you cannot even Phantom how much God loves you and when God's righteousness met his love he loved man he hated sin and and and God's righteousness and love met and there was a war within God God's righteousness said I've got to to kill man but God's love says I won't let you kill man and the war between God's righteousness and God's love produced something that had never been heard of and it was called the mercy of Goden and and and and and God's mercy was satisfied God's righteousness was satisfied God's love was Satisfied by taking a a lamb and very violently ripping the skin off of that lamb wrapping those bloody skins around the naked flesh of Adam and Eve until the blood ran down their legs and forming pools between their toes and God said it's going to take the shedding of blood and we call this the doctrine of substitution and that is God allowing an innocent animal to take man's place in death until Jesus Christ himself can come and hang on that tree as the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world praise God praise God that is is what I like about understanding the Bible when I when you just read the Old Testament and and the sacrifices of the Lambs you'll never understand that until you understand that every animal that was ever sacrificed every animal that ever shed its blood was only pointing to that day on Mount Cal over his cross when Jesus hung Between Heaven and Earth as the Lamb of God for you and I amen I praise God for his Mercy I should have died for my sin you should have died for your sin but God in his great love for us amen let's Stand Together father we take a moment tonight to give you honor and glory and praise and Dominion for your Wonderful Mercy to us Lord Jesus when I think of how your mercy endureth forever and I think about

the abundance of Mercy that you have given to us I want to just say praise the Lord for the mercy of God hallelujah hallelujah in the name of Jesus and let every everybody said amen God bless
