Standing alone and the front row
- Opens mid-sermon: nobody will sit on the front row anymore; he means to preach until the whole thing turns around.

A psychiatric session: the four parts of a service
- A men's conference ought to be a psychiatric session where men can talk about being sick of empty religion, dead services, and no real conversions.
- One man with a burden can turn a city upside down; change the preacher and you change the people.
- A service has four parts — singing, prayer, the collection, preaching — and the preacher must be related to every part; the singing has to be primed like the old hand pump on the farm.
- The preacher is expected to be doctor, lawyer, and everything else for only 30 bucks; in his town they charge $95 for a half hour. The lady who called to ask if it is all right to pray in the bathtub.
- In the Texas district he demands the other side of it: if preachers are demanded of, he will demand that men win souls outside the four walls of the church.
- There is not going to be a comfortable place in this room this morning; this church needs soul winners, men who can get in a house and teach the word of God.
David survived without the crowd; the healer who couldn't
- David had learned how to survive without the crowd. Pack your pulpit under one arm and your Bible in the other and find out if you can cut the mustard in a kitchen living room — it is not the Bible or the pulpit you are depending on, it is the crowd.
- The visiting healer who called people out by name until 1 or 2:00 every morning; Cornwell checked out at 9:30 — he has to have his beauty rest.
- Next morning at the hospital the healer staggered to the door: "I don't do hospitals." It took him an hour and a half to get ready; at the bedside he could not operate — he had to have the crowd to operate.
- Saul could not survive standing alone; God didn't take Eliab, Abinadab, or Shammah either. Sooner or later you have to realize it is you and God, and God makes a pretty good crowd.
"What kind of Bible you got, sir?"
- "Do you really believe the word?" He has men read Genesis 1:1 aloud: the first reads "in the beginning was the word" and is corrected; the second reads it right and is told that is a Baptist Bible; the third reads "in the beginning God created acts 238" — "that's an Apostolic Bible."
- The word works. You preach sermons to crowds; you teach the word to individuals.
- He teaches Bible studies like he preaches sermons — on the table, under the table, kicking chairs, turning over water glasses, loud and soft, laughing and shedding crocodile tears; it depends on what the word calls for.

Genesis 6 in the home Bible study
- A group study that had grown dumb: his wife had to walk around the room and help them find Genesis chapter 6. He is not trying to win arguments from the Church of Christ deacon; he is trying to win somebody to God.
- He teaches Noah and the flood on his knees to 37 people, all of them rank heathens — Noah and his boys working on the ark, the door shut, the waters rising, people clawing at the door until their fingernails came off, the last man standing on his tiptoes on top of Mount Everest.
- They had 120 years to get on board. The next Tuesday a lady testified: last week "brother cor scared the hell out of me" — she had gotten baptized Sunday, and six others with her. Seven baptized, and "we had just got to Genesis chapter 6 — hadn't even got the acts 238 yet."
- The host kept interrupting the testimonies and had to be kicked in the ankle to shut up; all seven testified. Then: "let's start at Genesis chapter 10 and we continue the Bible study."

Meddling, and confidence in the man of God
- Steve's objection: those people didn't get saved right. "I know that and you know that but they don't know that yet" and "the Bible study ain't over yet."
- He reserves the right in every sermon to meddle four minutes: what happens when 50 new converts pray through tomorrow — hair an inch and a half long, earrings, tight jeans, and, since it's Texas, cowboy boots? The first thing you want to do is keep any visiting preacher away so you won't be branded a charismatic.
- Have confidence in the man of God: give him time and let him teach them the word like he taught you.
- He has a bloodhound spirit this morning; he stood up on the pews at Texas Camp in his two shoes and said, you can stop me from preaching in your pulpit, but you can't stop me from winning souls. Don't tell his wife — she's trying to get him dignified, and since it's not being videotaped she can't prove he did it.
Three things before a person is saved
- "There are three things that's got to happen in everybody's life before they get saved" — and this is why the word has to be taken into a family's home and taught sixteen inches from their face; it is easy to hide behind a pulpit.
- He has been teaching Bible study for more than 25 years, more lessons than anybody he knows — brother Jackson is trying to catch up and has already passed him; don't count the thousand every week, "lacklin."
- People think they can teach Acts 2:38 better than they can teach the Bible; the message is our job, but the Bible is what we're working with.
- People are bound who wear silk neckties in suits just as much as those who don't know what a necktie is. "Turn to Exodus please" — three things have to happen before a person is ready to be baptized in Jesus name and filled with the Holy Ghost.
"I believe the message"
- Lest anyone think he doesn't believe the message: baptism is submerged, plunged under, dipped, buried — completely. If your toe sticks out, we will either re-baptize you or cut your toe off; he doesn't want anyone to miss the Rapture because their toe wasn't baptized.
- The hound dog of his own childhood: the Blue Tick Hound killed on the highway, buried in record time just before sunset by a 10-year-old, dug up two weeks later with four legs sticking up and maggot infested, and reburied — if you don't get completely plunged under, you're going to have to get it done all over again.
- He believes "hero Israel the Lord our God is one God" (as written, "hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is one God"); there ain't but one God, and his name is Jesus. The half of a charismatic service he attended, where Jezebel started prophesying and he had to leave — he is one God Apostolic through and through, and you don't have to compromise to have revival.
Step one: deliverance
- In the book of Exodus God's people were in bondage, and the first thing that had to happen was deliverance. You cannot improve on God's way.
- The book is progressive revelation: God gave Genesis 1:1 4,100 years before he gave Acts 2:38. He has not taken the Old Testament out of the Bible.
- He starts where God starts: Genesis chapter 1, "in the beginning God created the Heaven and the Earth," and verse by verse God said, and God said — everything God does, he does by his word; deliverance, healing, and salvation all come by the word.
- His average Bible study runs over 20 weeks; he has taught people for a year, for two years, before baptizing them, waiting for them to be ready to accept the baptism of water or of the Holy Ghost. Number one: there's got to be a deliverance.
- The garbage can: pour clean water into dirty water long enough and the junky water starts flowing out. Every devil in the human heart gets stirred up at the word — he lost in the flood, he lost in the garden.
The framer's wife: let the word root it out
- The man framing his house, kin to Charles Manson — they look just alike. Cornwell taught him lessons on the roof, then got his address: Silk Stocking Hill, where the rich folks live.
- The good-looking wife at the door: "Lady, are you blind?" She has three brothers who are pastors; her grandparents are pastors; uncles, aunts, and cousins are pastors — he thought he had found a heathen and found the pope's sister.
- A 30-minute Bible study is not going to convert her; rather than guess at her sin or speculate about her bondage, let the word root it out. The word does a much better job than your personality does.
- Teaching her not Acts 2:38, not John 3:5 — Genesis 1:1, the same way God started. Adam and Eve and the fig leaves: God gave them coats of skins because fig leaves split when they dry, "and since God hates split skirts" — did he preach holiness or what.
- Seven, eight weeks: she is on the porch with fire coming out of her eyes — "Why are we a cult?" Her brother has been there. One more lesson: they sat down at 7:00 and left at 12:30 a.m., not a dry thread on either of them. The next week she has a spiral notebook of her brothers' questions, bows her head, and cries: "My brothers have got to be saved, don't they?"
- It wasn't the personality of a preacher that brought her through the crisis; it was the word that had gone into her spirit.
Eight families at the cross
- Within weeks, eight families were in the basement of their home, sitting in a circle, taking the Bible study all over again.
- "The beauty of it all was when we got to the Cross — not acts 238. Acts 238 means nothing without a cross; acts 238 means nothing without the shed blood."
- He does not go past the cross without personally praying: he slipped out of his chair, knelt on the floor weeping, and prayed for himself. A woman slipped her hand up — "Pastor, we don't know how to pray" — and all eight families were on the floor too. He taught them how to pray.
- They were moved at the cross because they were bound — rich, poor, whatever their profession; bound by pride, by drugs, by money. All eight families prayed and repented at the cross.
- "I took them to acts 238 the following Sunday and baptized all eight families in Jesus name."
- He checks his watch — he can't read it — and is told he has 15 minutes: "They sang 15 minutes over; you can eat 15 minutes over." The word is the deliverer.
Step two: the law at Sinai
- The second thing: in Exodus 12 they were thrust out by the mighty hand, and then they went to Mount Sinai, where God gave them the law.
- He calls three men up: "Sir, I want you to be God — you look holy enough. You be the devil. Hallelujah, you be the plain old Saint." The law never stands between the saint and God; it always stands between you and hell. You have free access to God.
- The charismatics call us legalists; their preachers would be fired if they preached anything. Preacher, you better stand between saint and hell and put the law of the Lord in their lives. He cannot find any law nailed to the cross except the handwriting of ordinances that was against us; most of the law of the Lord is for us.
- Three degrees of the law: the Ten Commandments, called the decalogue; the ordinances and the statutes we are to keep according to Deuteronomy chapter 6; and Hebrews chapter 13 — "obey them that have the rule over you, for they watch for your soul" — the law of authority. You cannot backslide until you tear down the law of authority; then the statutes go, and then the decalogue.
- God did not take them to Mount Sinai until they crossed the Red Sea. Teaching is the imparting of knowledge; preaching is the application of authority — once people have been broken by the word, he stops teaching the cold print and starts applying it: this is for you; this is how God wants you to live.

Step three: worship
- The third thing that happens is worship: you must be able to worship God before you're ready to be baptized in Jesus name and to be filled with the Holy Ghost — praise, magnify, lift up holy hands, shout, dance, sing, cry, laugh.
- God has given you a mouth, vocal cords, lungs, hands and feet, beautiful children — everything you need to worship.
- They went from Mount Sinai — he gave them the law — "and in chapter 25 he gave him a way of worship; he gave him the Tabernacle of worship."
- He literally teaches people how to worship in the Bible study before they ever get to church: at the kitchen table he makes them aware of what God has already done — God did this, God did that — until by the time they reach the house of God they already know how to praise.

The woman healed of pancreatitis
- A lady came to the new building the first Sunday it opened, after two car wrecks on the way — she ran into a Maybelline and a jewelry store; he thought for a while she'd run into a Sherwin-Williams.
- At the altar call she marched up front: twice at the red light a voice spoke to her in the car with her husband — if she came here, God would heal her. She has had pancreatitis for eight years and has not been without pain for eight years.
- He put his hand right in the middle of that paint and said, "In the name of Jesus, be healed" — she fell over backwards before he got it out, and came to screaming, "I'm healed, I'm healed, I'm healed." Her husband was a deacon in his church — "actually he was a demon, but you can't tell the difference sometimes"; only the demons got riled up about the joke.
- He went to teach them a Bible study 50-something miles away; everything she was wearing could go in a thimble — his wife said, "I will attend this Bible study." He was the deacon, she was the soloist.
- Fifteen weeks later, after five lessons on the godhead — "God was manifest in the flesh" — both of them said, "My God, Jesus is God." He didn't touch them; something came out of heaven, knocked them against the back wall, and they started speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gave the utterance.
A living room built on the platform
- People are scared to teach Bible studies, so he told his church he would find somebody and teach them one in front of everybody. His wife on the way home: "You said it — now do it."
- After three weeks he found a couple; they said no way to the platform, so he built their living room on his platform and let the congregation peep through the window. Her church clothes were shorts and bare feet. "oh my God all the holy people in our church backslid over"
- They moved the choir and the instruments out, built and decorated the living room, and told the church: no more church until this Bible study is through — you can come, but you cannot speak, laugh, cry, or respond; just peek through the window. Almost 700 people a night came.
- Taught two lessons a night on the platform; on the 11th lesson he baptized 13 spectators. At the end of the 12th lesson the couple started repenting on the platform in front of God and everybody.
- Every home he goes in is the same way — "zerck got rich doing the same thing, right over and over and over."
Closing prayer and the Texas call
- Closing prayer: "Father, I thank you for allowing me to come to the Texas district. Lord, the greatest need in every church represented is for soul winners."
- Altar-call questions: Do you have a desire to be a soul winner — raise your hand. Would you make a decision to stand alone? A man answers that it is not the crowd; it's when I'm alone with God — "I'm blessed, thank you."
- If God would help you find somebody, would you be willing to teach somebody a Bible study? "Your hands today has made it worth it to come to Texas."
- The next powerful outpouring of the Holy Ghost is going to be in Texas, Mississippi, Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Arkansas — "we got to prepare for that Revival now."

that's going to reach the center on the back wall and I haven't seen too many Sinners on the front row of our pews first of all if I was a siner today I wouldn't come up front with all you guys running around and kicking and stomping I'd get me as close to the exit sign as I could if I needed to make an escape I seen a guard housee outside the state hospital at Rusk when I came through there praise God and and and and I'm going tell you something if I first came to Pentecostal church and saw all this stuff going on I might look to see there's a guard housee on the outside there is a difference between churches who have Revival and churches who don't have Revival there is a difference between people who win souls and people who do not win souls many of us have the spirit of ainad and elad and shamama but we need somebody that has the spirit of David I'm not talking about the spirit of courage and strength and power and Glory I'm talking about the spirit of being able to stand alone you see we want to Revival but we want the LM light when Revival's Fallen we want the preeminence when Revival's Fallen when Revival is going to come to those who are alone somebody said amen there's many a preacher there's many a man that is envying and coverting the fact that I'm standing here and others are standing in the pull pit and they want to be up here where the Limelight is but I got news for you this is not where the glory is ladies and gentlemen I said this is not where the glory is this is not where it's happening at it's happening at a kitchen table when you're 16 in from a person's face I will give up my Pulpit before I will give up my soul weding Ministry you see this is a Men's Conference it almost sounds like a psychiatric session I'm coming somebody say come on with it amen I'm I'm going speed right here okay I want to get there as quick as I can most of our services are divided into four parts number one we have to have singing and our singing is like the old hand pump out on the farm you got to Prime that sucker before you can get it going one out of a 100 churches obey the word by walking into the courts with praise and thanksgiving in this Society you got to be pumped you got to be primed can I have an amen and most of us have the restaurant mentality as soon as we get full we leave I'm preaching I'm met I'm ruining A good sermon right here can I have an amen oh you don't bodily walk out but when you get your little touch of God you sat down after all you've had your psychiatric session and then we have a little bit of prayer and then of course we the the most important part is we take the collection and then the preacher gets his portion to get up and preach I'm not being critical this is a Men's Conference and and we're a professional psychiatrist up here trying to help you get through your little daily problems the problem is you're getting the best psychatric in the country for only 30 bucks in my town they charge you $95 for a half hour amen and the preacher when he faces you every day in the pull pit every service if he does not lift you up and bless you and personally minister to your every need we want the preacher to be a doctor we want him to I'm preaching we want him to be a lawyer we want him to be a used car dealer we want him to be all kinds of things and and and and my God it's
amazing what kind of phone calls I get I had a lady call me one day and and and she insisted to talk to me and and the secretary put her through and she was having a dilemma I said what's wrong she said is it all right to pray in the bathtub I got some nuts in my church and most pastors have nuts in their church for a fact sometime we have people that remind us of granola bars nutty fruity and Flaky and we require our preacher to come on Wednesday night and pump us up so we can survive until Sunday and come on preacher you better minister to me so I can survive until Wednesday night because if you don't I I'll backslide before I get back again well where in the name of God does The Sinner come in on oh we got it down past Sunday morning is our Evangelistic service well that's when all the saints sleep shame on you for having dead Church shame on you for dragging into the house of God shame on you for demanding that the preacher be a psychiatrist my God we need to preach the doctrine of the word I'll be back amen if y'all got a portable pull pit one of them little metal band stands find me one praise God if you can find one amen I want the back row to see what the front row feels like listen to me now if we are going to demand that then I'm going to stand here in the Texas district and demand that if you're going to demand that out of your preacher and out of your church that I'm going to demand that you win souls outside the four walls of your church praise God praise God some of you need to know what it's right to sit on a front row and get Showers of blessing praise God Amen let me say it again we need to cooperate with the Bible and with the word and with the preacher and with the Holy Ghost there's not going to be a comfortable place in this room this morning well I got here late all right I'm late now I should have been out here a while ago from the front row to the back row this church needs Soul wers your church needs Soul wers your church needs men of God your church needs somebody that can get in that house 16 Ines from somebody's faith and teach the word of God praise God be seated David had learned how to survive without the crowd I had a preacher the other day tell me give me a Bible and give me a pull pit and I cut them mustard well pack your pull pit with you put your Pulpit under one hand and your Bible in the other and get inside that kitchen living room and find out if you can cut the mustard because you're not depending on the Bible and you're not depending on the pull pit you're depending on the crowd okay okay okay okay okay you're not going to like this one okay say no guts no glory no guts no glory all right I'm going to get the glory then cuz I got the guts be seated I want everybody to hear this where a Healer come through that quiet in the crowd didn't it I'm come about and it calls you out and tells you
what your name is I already know mine didn't need to preach to tell me that and he wanted to go to 1 or 2:00 every morning I checked out at 9:30 went home went to bed left it to him I got to have my beauty rest next morning at 6:00 I had to go to the hospital so I knock on his door Mo has I said brother I got some folks at the hospital I want you to go with me he staggered he staggered to the door it looked like he came right out of the gates of hell he didn't even know that the sun rose gradually and he looked through the door and he said I don't do hospitals started in my feet this burning sensation work this way up my Cales my thighs my hips my stomach my chest and got to my vocal cords I said you got to do hospitals here and I had to wait an hour and a half for him to get ready I God take that long to put on a pair of pants and zip them up and put a shirt and tuck it in and throw a brush through your hair and brush your teeth slash water on your face you can do that in five minutes these guys need to join a military they teach them how to do that kind of stuff we got to the hospital and and I couldn't get him to the bedside he stood up by the door and I I I told him I said look I said we got we got a we got a man of real man of Faith here and we had a lot of healing and miracles at church last night and I just wanted to bring him down and so y'all can have y'all's Miracle y'all couldn't get to church so we just brought the church to y'all and he couldn't operate alone he had to have the crowd to operate Saul could not survive standing alone and God didn't take elab and ainad and Shamar because he was already fed up with Saul because when they joined the army they had to join the buddy system and if you're going to be a soul winner and be what God wants you to be sooner or later you have to realize it's you and God is the only crowd you got and God makes a pretty good crowd do you do you believe the word come on now tell me do you really believe the word what kind of Bible you got sir King oh that's that's the apostolic Bible in it read Genesis 1 and one for me let's find out if you got a Baptist Bible or an Apostolic Bible read it in the beginning was the word no Genesis 1 And1 all right in the beginning in the beginning God created the Heaven and the Earth no that's a Baptist Bible you got a Bible read from Genesis 1:1 praise God read read for him read hurry praise God in the beginning God created the Heaven and the earth oh that's a that's a Baptist Bible too surely somebody's got an Apostolic Bible you got one read it for me Genesis 1:1 in the beginning God created acts 238 that's that's an Apostolic Bible the word ladies and gentlemen the word works I said the word works the problem is there's a difference between a sermon and the word You Preach sermons to crowds you teach the word to individuals and I teach Bible studies just like I preach sermons on the table under the table I kick chairs I turn over water glasses I get loud and I get soft I laugh and I learn how to shed them crocodil te it depends on what the word
calls for but I'm going to teach the word and the word works and there are three things that have let's talk about the Breakthrough now okay somebody is going to have to take the word into somebody's home alone the choir is not going to be backing you up when you give the altar call you're not going to have somebody PL Softly on the piano organ when you're coming to a close but the word create its own music I was teaching a Bible study one night and this had grown into a group and this group was so dumb that my wife I said would you open your Bible to Genesis chapter 6 and they just stared at me and my wife had to get up and walk around the room and help them find Genesis chapter 6 I love them kind of people I'm not trying to win arguments from the Church of Christ Deacon I'm trying to win somebody to God that's and I was teaching on Noah and the flood now you've never heard Noah and the flood preach PR until you hear me preach it I always kneel in my Bible studies set my chart up in the floor and I teach off my knees my Bible laying on the floor and my chart sitting here and I'm just teaching up a storm and I'm preaching I'm teaching on knowing the flood to 37 people all of them rank heathens anytime you got a car dealer in the Bible study you got heathens PR and I'm talking about knowing the flood and I got I got Noah and and and and him and his boys working on the ark and and they're having a Bud Light party around the ark dancing around the ark and they're having a a flood party and they just keep on working but one day when the ark is finished and no is inside and the door is shut and it starts sprinkling they get the knock and tapping on the door let us in and I'm teaching this to the Bible study and I'm teaching that that that that the water started falling heavy and the creek started rising and and it started having earthquakes and Waters come out of the out of the out of the deep and they start scratching at the door and the water's about waste deep and they have clawed at that door until their fingernails will come off and every time their heart beats blood is pulsating from every finger and they're standing waste deep in bloody red Waters they had 120 years to get on board that Ark but they was busy drinking Bud they was too busy smoking Joe Camel I mean when I get to teaching it don't matter what crowd's there just teach the truth to whatever crowd is there and finally they swam over to the trees and they was yelling to know it open the door from the top of the trees and and and when that didn't work they swam over to the hills standing on the Hills screaming at Noah to open the door and when that didn't work they got up on top of the mountains and and finally there was one dude left standing on his tip toes on the top of Mount Everest and God looked down and put his finger on his nose and shoved him up Wonder that's all we know how to preach I couldn't help but if they never heard anything before the next Tuesday night I came back and this lady stood up she said can I testify I said yes ma'am she said I want to tell all this Bible study that last week brother cor scared the hell out of me me and I went and got baptized Sunday and six others had gotten baptized along with her we had just got to Genesis chapter 6 hadn't even got the acts 238 yet didn't need to and so the guy who house I was in he kept trying to interrupt their
testimonies because seven of them had gotten gloriously saved at First Christian Church and First Baptist Church and First Methodist Church and and and and wherever else they got baptized and and I almost broke his ankle kicking him in the ankle to shut up shut up shut up shut up and when when when when they got through Testament all seven of them testified when he got through I said now let's start at Genesis chapter 10 and we continue the Bible study quiet in the crowd I'm charismatic right now to you aren't I li Mo has does that help you and and when the Bible study was over Steve came up me he said brother Co I am so disappointed in you I I am aggravated you know them people didn't get saved right and I said I know that and you know that but they don't know that yet and then I said those famous words trust me trust me I think I'll meddle I reserve the right and never sermon to medal four minutes but what would happen if you had 50 new converts pray through tomorrow in your church and the ladies got hair about an inch and a half long and they got earrings dangling down past their shoulder blades and they wearing tight fit and blue jeans and since it's from Texas they got cowboy boots on yeah oh my God the first thing you want to do is don't let any visant preacher come to your church because you'll be branded as a charismatic you got to have confidence in the man of God that just give him time and let him teach them the word like he taught you the word and everything will work out all right I got a blood hound spirit this morning I want to sniff out that old Pharisees that's sitting on our pews that you done destroyed half a dozen preachers because of your attitude and now you are destroy new converts now I'm going ask y'all a favor please don't tell my wife I I stood up on a pews at Texas Camp that would embarrass her she's trying to get me dignified but it's not working unless she's with me and since it's not being videotaped she can't prove I did it Steve said they didn't get saved they didn't get baptized right they didn't get the Holy Ghost I said calm down son calm down I said the Bible study ain't over yet either is it you see there are three things that's got to happen in everybody's life before they get saved and this is why we've got to learn to take the word of God into a family's home and sit down 16 inches from their face and teach it where they can understand it it's easy to hide behind a pull pit and a bunch of liers excuse me flowers my God I didn't need to kneel down by you I'll get over here but it's your courage when you're alone to teach the word of God just teach the word when there's nobody to back you up now listen to me now I've I've been teaching Bible study for more than 25 years I don't know if anybody has taught more lessons than I have I know brother Jackson's trying to catch up he's already passed me praise God hey wait now don't count the Thousand every week that you do it lacklin that don't count I'm dumb out in the kitchen Hallelujah now I'm preaching this sermon you sit down and be quiet I'm just picking Elder praise God I've learned some things down through the years you know how I learned because I've been kicked out of more homes than anybody else too when I when I you I finally had to go buy me a Baptist Bible because that Apostolic Bible wasn't working did y'all get that one preacher told me he said I can open the Bible anywhere and find acts 238 but he not he's not a soul winner either because we fail to understand what has to happen in a person's life before they come to God you know we got this idea that only
those on skidrow are all bound but I have found out that people are bound that wear silk neck ties in, suits just as much as those that don't even know what a neck tie is turn to Exodus please there are three things that has to happen before a person's ready to be baptized in Jesus name and to be filled with the Holy Ghost now lest you not think that I believe the message let me share with you I believe you have got to be baptized submerged plunged under dipped buried in water completely submerged if your toe sticks out when I baptize you we're going to do one of two things we're going to re-baptize you or we're going to cut your toe off because we don't want you to miss the Rapture because your toe's not baptized when I was a kid growing up we had a hound dog that got killed on the highway and we live in next to the thicket next to the woods and my daddy said son I want y'all to drag this dog off the road and go out in the woods and bury him well you don't tell a 10-year-old kid to do that at 5:30 in the evening just before sunet because there's monsters in the woods everybody knows that if you don't believe it you try go out there at 5:30 in the evening just before dark and find out and we drug that dog out in the woods and we dug a grave in record time put that Blue Tick Hound in that grave shovel the dirt on him and headed back to the house but two weeks later my dad drinking coffee on the back porch and the Southwest wind blowing smelt the dog and he followed his nose to the dog and here's a Blue Tick Hound with four legs sticking up out of the grave and my dad made us dig up that maggot infested dog and reberry him and I'm going to tell you what if you don't get completely plunged under you're going to get maggot infested and you're going to have to get it done all over again do you believe that I believe the message I believe that hero Israel the Lord our God is one God and I'm going to tell you there ain't but one God and his name is Jesus I've only been to a half of a charismatic service in my entire life and when Jezebel started prophesying I had to leave I believe that and I'm not going to let Jezebel prophesy in my church I don't care how much tie she pays I'm one God Apostolic through and through and I don't believe you have to compromise to have Revival do you believe that I believe the message before I go on okay in the book of Exodus God's people were in bondage and the first thing that had to happen to them was they had to have a Deliverance now listen carefully oh Lord here I am getting in trouble again father give me courage boldness take away all this coward Spirit I'm feeling you cannot improve on God's way we know God's way by this book this book is a progressive everybody say progressive progressive revelation revelation of God of God and he gave us Genesis 1 and one 4,100 years before he gave us acts 238 I am not a Church of Christ I have not taken the Old Testament out of the Bible Hallelujah and I don't intend to because God gave it to us he reveals himself and what he is in the Old Testament and when you start teaching in the Book of Genesis and you get to acts 238 everything else will take care of oh that's not your
Bible hold on I'm going b a little while longer so when I start teaching Bible study I start where God starts well we live in a business assited praise God so I got me they got the Bible set it down now to 30 minutes nobody was sit and listen to a Bible study for 12 or 13 my average Bible studies over 20 weeks it used to be 25 I have condensed it some because I know what has to happen before a person is truly converted number one there's got to be a Deliverance in his life and most of time we really don't know the sins of their life but when I sit down and we start in Genesis chapter 1 in the beginning God created the Heaven and the Earth in verse six God said in verse n God said and verse 11 God said and verse 12 God said and all through the first chapter god well God does a lot of talking and everything that God does he does by his word if you get Deliverance it it'll be God's word that delivers you if you get healing it's going to be God's word that heals you if you get saved it's going to be God's word that saves you now I know when I start teaching you a Bible study that as I everything the garbage can water in it messes up the clean water but you keep pouring that clean water in sooner or later the junky water is going to start flowing out and when you start teaching this word every devil that's in the human heart is going to get stirred up at the word every time you remind the devil he lost in the flood he lost in the garden and you start telling the devil through the world how much he's lost you can have sins that nobody in the world knows about but you but when I start teaching this word this word is going to force Spirits by the way there's more attitudes out there than just smoking and drinking and drugs let me let me give you the best example I could give you I was building a house and the guy that was framing my house was Ken to Charles Manson I know he was Ken because they look just alike and one day I came up on the floor where he was hanging Rafters and I climbed up on the roof where he was that and I taught him a lesson on top of the roof and I came back the next 3 or 4 days later and climbed up where he was putting a plywood down and I taught him another lesson and I said let me let me come meet your family you're married so he gave me his address I got my Bible my Bible study chart and went to his house and I rung the door the doorbell first of all it was on Silk Stocking Hill I was expecting somebody like that to live in skidrow but he was living up there where them Rich folks lived rung the doorbell and this good looking woman came to the door I looked at my address and I looked at her I looked at my address I looked at her and she said me can I help you I said I think I got the wrong address she said who are you looking for and I told her and she said oh that is my husband and about that time he came around the corner and stood in the door with her beauty and the beast and then I said lady are you blind she said why what what you what do you mean I said how can somebody as goodl looking as you be married to some creep like that I believe when I look at you fellas halfy y'all's wives got to be blind I'm reminded of the story I heard about this preacher looked at his wife and he said How could somebody be so beautiful be so stupid she said I've got the answer to that God made me beautiful so you would marry me
and he made me stupid so I'd marry you you see when we start teaching Bible study we we we go with this dist started looking face oh I got a burn I got to just I got to reach somebody I just they got my God they don't want that you need to start being like cocaine you need to get to be addictive get your joy from obeying God not from the results God said go and teach you ought to just have joy from just being able to do what God wants you to do so I said would you like to have Bible I showed them my Bible stud you like that yeah we like that Bible so we started teaching a bible study on Friday night now as soon as I sit down she smiled and she said I have three brothers that are pastors wonderful here I thought I finally finding a heathen and I found the pope sister she said my grandmother and grandfather are pastors I have uncles and aunts and cousins that are pastors now you know and I know that a 30 minute Bible study is not going to convert her and also know that she got more problems because if she lives in this religious family something must have happened or she would not have married this Heathen come on folks re use some reasoning power here I know that there's more there than rebellion and I know that if her brothers hadn't want her to God it's going to take God to reach her so there must be some bondages in her life no matter what her address is and no matter who she's married to but you know what rather than try to guess what her sin is and try to speculate what her bondage is why don't you just let the word root it out and when you don't try to convert anybody just teach the word the word does a much better job than your personality does and so I know that as soon as her brother find out a Holy Roller preacher is teaching her Bible studies they are going to be camping on her doorstep they don't care that her she Di and go to hell as long as a Holy Roller preacher don't teach her a Bible study and I know that I've only got a short time to put something in her that will help and I started teaching not acts 238 not John 3:5 I started teaching Genesis 1 and one I started same way God started you can't improve on God's way one week two weeks three 3 weeks I never will forget now you have to understand these are worldly people and and I was preaching on Adam and Eve and and when they fell in the garden and you know the Lord looked at their cover what did God cover them with I mean what did they cover themselves with fig leaves did God accept their fig Leaf covering no what did God give them coats of skins and I said you know why God done that I said because fig leaves when they dry up they split and since God hates split skirts he had to give them some more cover did I preach Holiness or what they don't forget anything else but every time they put on a split skirt they remember that sermon seven weeks eight weeks goes by and one Friday night I come to the door and she's standing on the porch hands on her he Fire coming out her eyes smoke coming out of her ears she said I want to ask a question I said yes ma'am now she's looking more like her husband she said why are we a cult I said your brother's been here yes I said can I just teach one more Bible study one more 7:00 that night we sit down at her kitchen table we left out of there at 12:30 a.m. when my wife and I sat down in our
car there wasn't a dry thread on me there wasn't a dry thread on her her bun had fell from the sweat pouring off her head she said now I know why Church do not grow because they are not willing to go through we came back Friday night and she's standing on the porch again she said one more lesson I said your brother's been back she said theyve been back she had a spiral bound notebook filled with nothing but comments and questions that that she was supposed to ask me at 12:30 a.m. that morning she bowed her head tears ran down her face and she said my brothers have got to be saved don't they I said yes ma'am they do you know what it was that brought her through the crisis it wasn't the personality of a Preacher it was the word that had gone into her spirit that brought her through the crisis be seated she said if we've got a change my friends are changing I said sounds good to me and within weeks we had eight families in the basement of their home sitting in a circle taking Bible study all over again and I want to tell you something the beauty of it all was when we got to the Cross not acts 238 when we got to the Cross not acts 238 when we got to the Cross acts 238 means nothing without a cross Acts 2 2 38 means nothing without the shed blood acts 238 means nothing without a savior I when I taught the cross I said I do not go past the cross without personally praying and I said if y'all would excuse me for just a moment let's bow our heads I slipped out of my Straight chair and I knelt on the floor and I was weeping with tears in my eyes and I said Lord we have come to the cross again and Lord I'm not walking past this cross without telling you all over how much I love you and Lord when you died on that cross you died for my sins and Lord I don't know what all I've done wrong since the last time I've been here but God forgive me for anything that I can't remember and Lord you've already forgiven me for so much and I thank you for forgiving me and I just want you to know that I love the cross and I love what you did on that cross I wasn't praying to impress them I simply am not going by the cross without praying for myself when I got to praying I was going to finish the lesson and she slipped her hand up and she said pastor she said we don't know how to pray and she said he said I looked around and all eight families had slipped out of a chair and was kneeling on the floor too and she said would you teach me how to pray I I want to learn how to pray just like that prayer and I said okay and I led them I taught them how to say Lord your blood will forgive me you died on the cross for my sins my soul why were they moved at the cross because I knew that they were bound everybody you teach were they Rich poor black or white red or yellow regardless of what profession they have they could be bound by Pride by drugs they could be bound by their money there's my god there are so many bondages out there in the human heart it's invasible all and that's why I teach Bible studies I don't depend on my preaching for the pull pit to reach people all eight families prayed and repented at the cross you know what happened next I took them to acts 238 the following Sunday and baptized all eight families in Jesus name you got to walk what what times you
watch got what time I can't read that y okay I got 15 minutes they sang 15 minutes over you can eat 15 minutes over the word is the deliverer there's a second thing that happened in in in Exodus 12 they were Thrust out by the mighty hand and then they went to Mount Si what did God give them at Mount Si he gave them what he gave them the law come here sir I want you to be God you look holy enough you be the devil Hallelujah you be the plain old Saint the charismatics say that we are legalists that we're Bound by law but I'm going to tell you I have never seen any preaching stand between the saint Fai God between the saint and God the law always stands between you and hell you got free access to God there's no preaching going to keep you from getting the gifts of the Spirit there's no preaching going to keep you from being blessed to God there's no preaching in the world that's going to keep you from the beauty of the Lord but the moment you turn around friend you're facing the word you know why the denominations have stepped up their effort to prove that we are legalists is because their preachers would be fired if they preached anything and so to justify their cowardness they got to preach against us who have courage preacher you better stand between Saint in hell and you better put the law of the Lord in their lives can I have an amen I cannot find any law nailed to the cross except the handwriting of ordinances that was against us but most of the law of the Lord is for us be seated when I'm teaching the Bible study I know that the word is going to bring them to a crisis I don't care who you are whatever there is in your life that's not right the word's going to drive it to the surface they're either going to be broken right there and and they're going to make a change in their life or they're going to reject the deliverance and if they reject it it's time to stop the Bible study L you become their personal pan Pastor I'm not interested in being your personal pan Pastor I'm interested in you growing in the grace of to God when you get to Mount Si God gave you the law of the law for a fact there are three degrees of the law there is The Ten Commandments called the decalogue and then there is the ordinances and the statutes that we're to keep according to Deuteronomy chapter 6 and then Hebrews chapter 13 says obey them that have the rule over you for they watch for your soul so there is the law of authority you cannot backslide until you tear down the law of authority in your life if you cannot if if if you if you cannot obey God's word if you cannot be rebuked by the preaching of the word you can't be saved because when you break down that law of authority then the statutes and the ordinances and the judgments and the precepts are not going to mean anything and then you're going to go all the way down to the decalog or the law of the Lord and you you're going to violate the Ten Commandments and when you violate the moral attributes of God in the decalogue you're not going to be saved now put that in your in in your whistle and whistle a while that believing once saved always saved don't tell me you're a Christian and you can commit adultery don't tell me you're a Christian and you can bear false witness don't tell me you can be a Christian and have the spirit of covetousness the the problem is it's not the fact that you're breaking those laws is that you have destroyed the other laws that have protected you from
breaking that law so the second thing that I do in a Bible study is when I realize that they have come through this crisis and that they have that they have been broken by the word of God then I start teaching them how important the law of God is in their life I'm no longer teaching now now I'm preaching there's a difference between teaching and preaching and it's not how loud it is teaching is the imparting of knowledge preaching is the application of authority and now that they have been broken by the word I start applying the word to their lives I don't just teach the cold print anymore but I'm teaching it that this is for you this is what God wants you to do this is how God wants you to live you can't do that you can't do that until they have been delivered God did not take them to Mount Si until they crossed the Red Sea now I've only got a couple more minutes let me finish number three there the third thing that happens in the course of my Bible study anybody here ever been blessed to God has anybody here God ever done something for you did you say praise the Lord did you say glory to God I remember the first time that my wife said she'd marry me I praised God all the way home and then I had to go back get in the car when I'm sitting at that kitchen table I start making people aware of what God has already done for them God has given you a beautiful home God has given you beautiful children and I start make people open their mouth and say that God did this and God did that and God did this and God did that and and and after a few weeks of that you walk in the home and they're ready to tell you what God's done for them this week they start opening their mouth and blabbing God did this God did that God did this God did that Jesus did this Jesus did that well when you get to the house of God don't you get the Holy Ghost by talking to God and telling God what he is what he's done praise God I literally teach them how to worship they went from Mount Si and on Mount Si he gave them the law and in chapter 25 he gave him a way of worship he gave him the Tabernacle of worship by the time my Bible studies get to church they already know how to praise God they already know what happened last Sunday night they know who run the aisle and who danc in the spirit they knew who fell out and who got healed because when I get to their home I talk about what God has done and and they can't hardly wait to get to a holy rooll of church to see what's going to happen when they get there and if it don't happen they think everybody backslid before they got there I'm not ashamed of worship are you I got I got people do all kinds of things in our church but when I teach ible studies I've already taught people how to worship before they get to the house of God now we don't dance around the table I ain't thought about that one yet but let me close with this I was teaching a Bible this lady came to our church when we was building our building and the first Sunday we opened she came on her way to church she had two car wrex she ran into Maybelline and she ran into a jewelry store I thought for a while he' run into Sherin Williams and she came and and as soon as we gave the altar call she just marched right up front knelt down at the front with her eyes wide open and I said ma'am can I help you she said yes you can she said twice I pulled up at the red light and stopped and a voice spoke to me in my car with my husband and said if I come here that God would heal me I said God did that he she said I know my family doesn't believe it and nobody else believe it but my husband and I we heard the voice and we didn't even know this was going to be a church until just last week and she said God said that voice said that I'd be healed right here and she said I I've got a pancreatitis I've had it for eight years I have not been without pain for eight years and she said I'm here to get healed paint jewelry and all I said okay and I put my hand right in the middle of that paint and said in the name of Jesus be healed and before I got it out she fell over backwards on the floor he was a deacon in his church
actually he was a demon but you can't tell the difference sometimes I'm just testing your spirit only the demons got riled up about it the rest of the good deacons laughed about it and when when they came to she started weeping and and and they Grand Canyons came right there her face amen she had so much makeup on that we found Jimmy haa and she started screaming I'm Healed I'm Healed I'm Healed ended the service right there she just was 8 years with with pain and God healed her instantly I went to teach them a Bible study 50 something miles away and when I walked in my wife was with me and she punched me in the ribs and said look up baby look up and I had to look up because she was wearing you could put everything she was wearing in a thimble and still sew with it my wife said I will attend this Bible study he was the Deacon in the in the church she was The Soloist in the church but about 15 weeks later I had taught on the godhead for about five sessions in a row and I had when I when I got through the almost the fifth lesson on the godhead I was saying and God was manifest In the Flesh seen of and and both of said my God Jesus is God God I didn't touch him so help me God I didn't touch him but something came out of Heaven knocked him against the back wall they fell on the seat of their britches and started speaking in other tongues as the spirit gave the utterance everybody stand I wanted I wanted to teach our church how to teach Bible study because people are scared to teach Bible studies and so I was preaching one night and I said I said I'm good mind to go out there and find somebody and teach them a Bible study in front of all of y'all well I was just preaching I didn't mean that I was just threatening my wife said on the way home she said did you hear what you said and I said what she said you told our church that you going to find a couple and you were going to teach them on the platform she said you going to have to do it I said but I was just preaching she said you're going to do it you said it now do it you know what I done three weeks I I I finally found me a couple after three weeks that would let me teach him a Bible study and then I po the question let me teach you on the platform they said no way Jose I said I tell you what I'll do I'll build y'all's living room on my platform if you would just let my congregation peep through the window and see how I do it you want us to teach take Bible she said we don't have church clothes I said what do you wear in your living room she looked down she had shorts on barefooted I said we'll dedicate it to y'all's living room until we're finished oh my God all the holy people in our church backslid over so we took the choir out took all the instruments off the platform built their living room on my platform set it up decorated it just like their living room and I told our church we're not going to have any more church until I get through this Bible study you can come you cannot speak you cannot laugh you cannot cry you cannot respond you can just come and just peek through the window almost 700 people a night came I taught her two lessons a night on my platform I wish you could have seen the reaction on the 12th lesson in fact on the 11th lesson when I got through the 11th lesson I baptized 13 spectators W something happened in our church at
the end of the 12th lesson and the Bible study was over and they bowed their head I wish you could have seen what happened in our church when these people started repenting on my platform in front of God and everybody a man walked up to me and he said he said is that how you do it I said every home I go in is the same way zerck got rich doing the same thing right over and over and over and over and I said I don't get bored doing the same thing right over and over and over and over father I thank you for allowing me to come to the Texas district Lord the greatest need in every Church represented is for soul winners God the greatest need in all of our churches is for soul winners there head bow do you have a desire to be a soul one would you raise your hand if you just have a desire to be a soul I if if you would make a decision to stand alone would you keep your hand in the air brother Cornwell I realize it's not the crowd but it's when I'm alone with God I'm blessed thank you put your hands down 20 seconds if God would help you find somebody would you be willing would would you be willing to teach somebody a Bible study would you raise your hand your hands today has made it worth it to come to Texas folks the next powerful outpouring of the Holy Ghost is going to be in Texas Mississippi Georgia Alabama Kentucky Tennessee and Arkansas we got to prepare for that Revival now God bless you thank you brother M for letting me be here
