Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.
Fire, greeting, and the text
- The sermon opens with fire: you can wave a match in the air, but unless you put it against friction, there is no fire — and if you learn how to move in the mess, you get fire.
- He thanks Pastor Holmes and Bishop Holmes, the Holmes family, the staff and team, and First Pentecostal Church, which has invested in his ministry in the Netherlands and now in Texas, and notes that his wife and family are present, along with his church family, Eastgate Church from Vidor, Texas.
- He turns to Ezekiel 18 and verse 2: "What mean ye that you use this proverb concerning the land of Israel saying, the fathers have eaten sour grapes and the children's teeth are set on edge." He titles his remarks "sour grapes and rotting teeth," and prays that the word would be planted in fertile soil, watered with prayer, and take root and bear fruit, and that chains that have held people captive for many generations would be broken.
Scriptures: Ezekiel 18:2
The past, trauma, and three generations
- He has pastored full-time for 15 years, and over 20 years in full-time ministry, and says everything that happens to individuals has meaning and purpose, and that the past is part of who we are.
- Paul said nothing present or to come can separate us from the love of God, he notes, but Paul does not mention things past — and the past is powerful to the adversary, creeping into the present and either hindering or helping propel us into the future.
- Your parents had a distinct impact on you, whether they were good at parenting or not, and because of sin, trauma results: abandonment, suicide, war, the early death of a child or parent, a sibling passing too soon, and abuse, sexually, physically, or emotionally.
- Trauma affects the ability to speak about what happened: in a traumatic moment the speech center shuts down, thoughts become scattered, and the mind is left with fragments, images, and sensations that do not connect — and because humans need a story with an ending, the unresolved memory spins over and over in the subconscious, in what the medical world calls traumatic reenactment or repetition compulsion.
- Recent work in cellular biology, epigenetics, and developmental psychology, he says, goes back three generations to understand a person, asking about grandma and grandpa, maternal and paternal — and science here verifies the Bible, which said it thousands of years earlier: in Exodus chapter 20 and verse 4, God visits the iniquities of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate him.
- Studies of Holocaust survivors, 9/11 survivors, war veterans, and Cambodian genocide survivors show abnormally low cortisol levels and other imbalances, he says, and their children, who did not go through the event, battle the same psychological struggles and show the same physical manifestations — so what you are struggling with may be something your parents or grandparents battled, manifesting as infirmity in the body but rooted in iniquity, a spiritual thing.
Scriptures: Exodus 20:4
A grandmother who broke it
- The fathers ate sour grapes, and it manifests in the children's lives, he says: their weaknesses are compounded into the children's lives, and you cannot change your history or who your grandparents and great-grandparents are.
- Satan cannot create, he says, only scar — and if he can scar the seed, he has scarred everything that will come out of them: when a mother was 5 months in her grandmother's womb as a fetus, she already had all the eggs she would ever have, so a part of you was inside your grandmother, and what happened to her has been passed down generationally.
- He preaches for victory over what has been handed to you, and to every father, mother, future father and mother, and grandparent, so they realize their sin, complacency, actions, or lack of actions have consequences beyond themselves — temper, out-of-control anger, negativity, gossip, and sin confined to the mind will be given on generationally.
- He tells his own family story: his maternal great-grandfather was a vile man who chained and beat his great-grandmother, abused all four of his daughters, and, though wealthy and owner of a brick company, left over a million dollars to a hospital and his family with nothing. One Christmas he let the children pick out shoes and toys in a store, bought them all, put them in front of his truck, and rolled over and crushed them before their eyes.
- At 15, his grandmother ran away from home, met a man 10 years older than her, and they went into a little Pentecostal church, were filled with the gift of the Holy Ghost, and were baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. His grandfather never learned to read or write, but his grandmother told him as a little boy, as the oldest grandson, that that was his great-grandfather but that is not who he is: he is a man of God, he will not beat his wife or abuse his children, she broke it, and he is going to be a preacher of the gospel.
- Mothers and fathers need to rise, look their future in the face, and say their children do not have to inherit what they came through — they can overcome, because the Lord keeps mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and visits the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and upon the children's children unto the third and fourth generation.
- He cites Numbers 14:18, on the Lord visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation, and Deuteronomy 5:9, on the same visiting of iniquity — and notes the disciples in John chapter 9, walking with Jesus past a blind man blind since birth, asking whether the man was blind because of his own sin or because of his parents, because they understood that the sins of parents could manifest in children.
Scriptures: Numbers 14:18; Deuteronomy 5:9; John 9
Sin, iniquity, and David
- Iniquity is not the same as sin, he says: sin, chata, means to miss the mark, and all have sinned and missed the mark — but iniquity, awon in Hebrew, is a stronghold, or in modern words an addiction, the thing behind repetitive sin that captivates a person so that he sins over and over.
- A person reaches that place by repetitive sin or by a major catastrophic sin: he uses pornography as the example all are battling — one may be tempted, look, sin, repent, and move on, but some do not need a pop-up or an ad to find the sites, it is just in them, they will find a way to get to it, buy a device, never tell their wife, and discard it, living a double life, driven by something inside they do not even want to do.
- Isaiah 64 and 6 says we are all as an unclean thing, our righteousness as filthy rags, we all fade as a leaf, and our iniquities like the wind have taken us away — and iniquity will take you away from your family, destroy your mind and marriage, and pull you away from things you do not even want to be pulled away from.
- He turns to David, a giant killer, lion slayer, poet, and king who could unite kingdoms — and who, on a rooftop, having watched for some time, turned a thought into thinking and then into action, in an adulterous affair that resulted in murder, after which his seed followed: Amnon raping his sister, and Absalom filled with lust, having sexual relations with the concubines before all Israel, and a son plagued with a sex addiction that divided the nation, with 300 women alone just for sexual relationships.
- In Psalms 51, written after the affair with Bathsheba, David prays to be washed thoroughly from his iniquity and cleansed from his sin, and says he was shapen in iniquity and in sin did his mother conceive him — it goes back to before he was born, it is in him, and he cannot escape it, and it made him a stranger unto his brethren and an alien unto his mother's children.
- The line runs back through Boaz, whose mother was Rahab, to Obed, to Jesse, to David — and Judah had a sex problem passed down generationally, generation to generation, and David's daddy and grandma and grandpa did not break it for him.
Scriptures: Isaiah 64:6; Psalms 51
The father in Mark 9
- In Mark chapter nine, a father brings his son to Jesus, after the disciples could not do anything: the boy would throw himself down in demonic fits, and the demon tried to kill him, throwing him into the fire.
- Jesus does not talk to the demon or the boy first, but asks the dad, "How long have you let that demon be in" him — how long have you let hell be active in your family? The daddy confesses it has been there a long time, and the preacher warns that it did not start with throwing the boy in the fire; it started with something little, and the little thing allowed in a family will grow until it takes over the children.
- The father says, "Well, if you can do anything," and Jesus answers that he is not the problem — and the daddy turns from praying for his son to praying for himself, realizing that if he can get free, his family can be free: you have to get yourself delivered, get your feet unshackled, your mouth back open, and your hands back to clapping.
- You do not graduate from the shouting team, the prayer meeting, or holiness and righteousness, he says — victory for your family starts with you, and he has come to revive faith and break the stronghold, as the father cries, "Help my unbelief."
- A daddy and mama laying hands on their children is the picture: you cannot expect your kids to be free if you will not get free yourself, and the father's dysfunctional faith manifests in the battles his children face.
Scriptures: Mark 9
Circling back: repent, and the judgment is personal
- Circling to where he started, he repeats Ezekiel 18, verse two — the fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge — and then verse three of Ezekiel: "As I live, saith the Lord," you shall not use this proverb any more in this place, because this is the place where demonic curses and generational sins are cut off.
- When they go home from the 2025 camp meeting, he says, it should be with more than sore shin splints and hands that burn from clapping — it should be with an end put to every generational curse and everything driving them, so their children are liberated.
- He does not want theory without practice: in Ezekiel 18:13, he says, God will judge the house of Israel, every one according to his way, and says, "Repent, and turn yourself from your transgression, so your iniquity shall not be your ruin." It begins with a church saying "I'm done," turning around, and making up its mind to serve the Lord — a revolution and transition, not just clapping to the next point.
- That is the kind of service, he says, where you go home and burn things, throw garbage away, delete apps, and get rid of stuff, to liberate your family.
Scriptures: Ezekiel 18:2; Ezekiel 18:3; Ezekiel 18:13
The coal on the lips and the woman who told the truth
- In the year King Uzziah died, he saw the Lord sitting on his throne, high and lifted up, his train filling the temple, with seraphims, each with six wings, crying, "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts. The whole earth is filled with his glory" — and then one seraphim flew to him with a live coal from the altar and laid it on his lips, saying his iniquity is taken away and his sin is purged.
- You break iniquity, he says, by opening your mouth and saying things that burn — the kind of prayer where you put your face in the carpet so nobody can hear it, and have a little talk with Jesus about all the stuff, talking about how bad you have been and declaring the blood over it, instead of only praising him for how good he is.
- You have to repent for generational stuff, and for things done in your family: he says he has spent time in prayer and repented for the sins of his family, including his grandfather's molesting and raping, saying, "God, forgive."
- He turns to the woman with the issue of blood in Mark chapter 5, who had the issue for 12 years, suffered many things of many physicians, spent all she had, and grew worse — but when she heard of Jesus, she came in the press, pushed through people, and touched the hem of his garment, saying if she could touch him she would be whole.
- Straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up and she felt in her body she was healed of the plague — but she was healed, not yet whole, so Jesus looked around for her, and in verse 32 and verse 33 she came fearing and trembling, fell down, and told him all the truth: she had been taken advantage of as a little girl, left, and broken inside, and it had manifested in her physical well-being.
- Jesus said, "Daughter," and made her whole — and some have been healed but never had the talk, he says: you touched him, but you have to talk to him, tell him, and stop pretending everything is perfect, because holding your children and your future prisoner in denial keeps you from being free.
Scriptures: Mark 5; Mark 5:32; Mark 5:33
David, the lion, and Leviticus: confess and break it
- Back to David, introducing himself to Saul before killing the giant, after already killing a lion and a bear: in 1 Samuel chapter 17, verse 35, he went out after the lion, caught him by his beard, looked him in the eye, and killed him — he did not grab him by the tail or the foot, or sneak up from behind.
- That is how you deal with iniquity, he says: grab hell by the face, look it in the eye, and say it is finished, instead of slipping up behind it — and that is how David could stand before Goliath and say he was going to kill him.
- In Leviticus 26:14, he says, God calls them to confess their sins and the sins of their ancestors, and take responsibility for their unfaithfulness and hostility toward him — and he has repented for his family's sins and unfaithfulness, and when their uncircumcised hearts are humbled and they pay for their sin, God says in verse 42 he will remember his covenant with Jacob, with Isaac, and with Abraham.
- When you break the generational curse and liberate three generations forward, he says, you loose three generations of anointing that has been pressed down and bottled up behind a dam of iniquity that is about to break — including an anointing from a grandmother that God is about to release.
- The altar call is physical: nobody takes anybody by the hand, each person moves from where they are, pushes into the altar as close as they can get, and on the count of three opens their mouth, shouts, and names what it is — multi-generational divorce, suicide, affairs and sexual impropriety, alcoholics and depression, criticism, a grandmother critical of the church, a grandfather and mother always negative and gossiping — and binds it in the name of Jesus, saying, "It's over! It's finished!"
- Parents lay hands on spouses, sons, and daughters as family units, and declare that multi-generational sin will be broken, the future redeemed, perpetual sickness spoken to as spiritual infirmity, ongoing depression as vexation needing healing rather than a pill, and the yoke destroyed so it cannot be repaired or put back together, so the heritage of the family will be one of Holy Ghost healing.

you make fire. I wish I had somebody kind of going You can wave that match in the air, but unless you find that match put it up against some friction. But but you can't just put the match on the You've got to Well, you don't understand what I'm going through. I'm in all kinds of mess. Hey, if you learn how to move in the mess, you know what happens? You get Ooh, I wish I I know some of y'all I guess this I need to move to Arkansas. They don't have no problems here, but I know some people down in Texas got some stuff going on and you might see us That's why we shout, run, roll, hoop, holler, and run because when you move in a mess, you have fire. Somebody shout fire. Fire, fire, fire. And I am so thankful for the invitation and the high honor that it has been afforded me to be a part of this incredible camp meeting led by an extraordinary family and an incredible leader, Pastor Holmes, Bishop Holmes, the Holmes family, the staff and team. Why don't we give this great pastor And First Pentecostal Church for many, many years has been an inspiration. I know to many, but to me personally and they've invested this family and this church has invested in my ministry in the Netherlands, now here in Texas, and I love them. Words would fail. There's not not time, but I I mean it sincerely. Sincerely love this incredible church and team and y'all are blessed, very blessed, and we're all going to go home like you said, but we all going to be kind of looking at North Little Rock saying, "Can't wait to get back." Amen. And I'm telling you, it's just a good place. I'm thankful my family's here, my wife, Michelle, [name redacted], [name redacted], [name redacted], [name redacted], they're all here, and I love them very much, and I'm thankful. My church family, Eastgate Church from Vidor, Texas. We got some Yeah. Some Vidorians in the house. Amen. I love them so much. I'm so blessed to pastor such a great church and thankful for the goodness of the Lord to us. He's been good. I want us to turn to Ezekiel 18 and 2 as my assignment and your expectation are not in alignment. You I know what's expected from Tuttle, and it will always be a puddle. Challenge this first night, I don't have no water to work with, so it's a little more challenging. But I I I obviously I had something that I I thought I was going to speak, but I'm in a season where the Lord has given me this word. I feel like for the church and for you and and your families, and so on this first night I want to speak to you. I'm not sure how much we'll shout tonight, but I know we're going to shout a whole lot this weekend and stomp on the devil's head over the victory that I believe he would like to give us as families and as individuals tonight. Amen. So, if you would open your heart and allow me to fill with God's called me to do, and that's honor and obey him, I think we're going to get somewhere tonight productive. Ezekiel chapter 18 and verse 2, if you've arrived, say amen. And the Bible reads, "What mean ye that you use this proverb concerning the land of Israel saying, the fathers have eaten sour grapes and the children's teeth are set on edge." I'll title my remarks sour grapes and rotting teeth. Sour grapes and rotting teeth. Why don't you just take your hand and lay it on your own heart. Close your eyes. Let take your other hand and lay it on your head so that your mind and your heart would be recip- open recipient to what God would speak to us on this evening. Heavenly Father, we're grateful for the privilege and the high calling that you have afforded me to stand in this most sacred place as we turn to the timeless pages of your word upon which we constructed our lives, principles line upon line and principle upon principle. Now, Lord, I pray that you would anoint me to deliver with clarity, with confidence, the word that you've given to me for this generation and for these people. I pray, Lord, that I would be a recipient of your word, that it would be planted into fertile soil, watered with prayer, that it would take root and bear fruit. That not only would I prosper, but the generations that follow me, if you so tarry, would in like manner. Anoint every man of God that will follow me. Let there be a fresh fire that falls in this meeting.
Let there be chains broke, Lord, that have held people captive for many, many generations. In the wonderful name of Jesus, we pray. And as one people, we say, "In Jesus' name." Why don't we shout in Jesus' name? You can be seated in the presence of the I've pastored now full-time for 15 years. 20 Over 20 years now in full-time ministry. I'm learning every day how to be a better pastor. I haven't figured it all out. To some, I'm a rookie and to others, I'm ancient of days. I'm right in that weird spot in life, you know. But one thing I realize is that everything that happens to individuals has a meaning and purpose to it. That our past is part of who we are, whether that was Paul said, "I'm persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature shall be able to separate us from the love of God." He says that nothing can separate you from the love of God that is in the present, and nothing that is to come, but it's a glaring absence because he does not mention things past. The past is powerful to the adversary. Powerless to God because it's under the blood, but an effective weapon used by the enemy. For the past has a way of creeping into our present and either hindering or helping propel us into our future. There are There is no way around it. Your parents and those that brought you into this world, they had a distinct impact on you. Whether they were good at parenting or not, your family story is your story. Because of sin in our lives, it will result with trauma. I've never seen a more wounded generation than the one in which I live. Hardship and trials. And so, as we study people, since people are my business, we understand that traumatic events, because another thing I've figured out pastoring, nobody comes to my office Nobody joins the church and is like, "Man, I just won 20 million and I wanted to join the church." No, they just lost everything, and that's why they came to church. Traumatic events that have happened to them, abuse, whatever it may be. And so, we understand and we understand and so understanding trauma is important. And it it is a well-understood feature of trauma that it affects our our ability to speak about what happened to us in that extremely traumatic moment. This is a defense mechanism that God placed in your brain that during a traumatic event, something horrible that happens to you, the speech center of your brain will shut down. As part of the brain, it stops responding in the same manner it normally would. And so, it does not experience the present moment as you would ordinarily. So, your thoughts will become scattered. You're not able to completely link things that happened in that time, in that trial like you would perhaps some other time. Leaving your mind with fragments of memories and images, sensations. Words are stored in this unconscious place within you. Memories now that don't make sense but just feel wrong. Lines that go into nowhere, dots that do not connect. And this will frustrate your human mind. Because as humans, we need things to make sense. We need a story that has an ending. You're not going to believe what Right now, some of y'all are so frustrated. You're like, "Come on, well, what happened? Don't leave me hanging like that." You you need it to finish. But since your brain can't get it finished it because of the defense mechanisms of your mind, it now spins over and over in your subconscious mind. Trying to figure it out, bringing some kind of sense to this thing that happened to you in your life. The medical world it's called traumatic reenactment or repetition compulsion. It's an attempt for the unconscious brain to replay something that's unresolved in order to get it right. And the memory will live on, perhaps not even in the forefront of your mind, but in the background it there it is, buried deep within you. Deep within you it lives. There's so many different traumatic tragedies and awful things that happen
as the result of sin. They differ in intensity, scope, and size, but it can be the abandonment of a parent that just left you, a suicide, war, the early death of a child or or parent, a sibling that that passed too soon, an abuse sexually or physically, emotionally. And so these these things become part of us. However, what's interesting as we study people is that we now psychologists and scientists are discovering that that not only does it affect the individual who it happened to, but how you act and who you are is directly linked to who you came from. And so recent developments in cellular biology, epigenetics, and developmental psychology have discovered that that to understand you as an individual, they will go back and study three generations backwards. So if you sit down on a couch with a psychologist who isn't even a believer in God, he's going to want to start the conversation with your grandma and grandpa, both maternal and paternal. He'll want to know about where you came from. He needs to know three to four generations back in order to understand you. It's interesting that science always verifies the Bible. What they're just now figuring out and what you can read and study in modern science was in your Bible thousands of years prior. For Exodus chapter 20 and verse 4 says, "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven images, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God, am a jealous God; Visiting the iniquities of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me. So they have now studied I've read multiple studies in my time of studying people at it as is my job. They've studied Holocaust survivors even 9/11 survivors, war vets, Cambodian genocide survivors, people who now suffer from or suffered from PTSD. The they have abnormally low cortisol levels and other imbalances that manifest physically in their blood and in their in their organs and and so they'll struggle with various various things of anxiety and depression and all kinds of conditions, but the interesting thing about it that they've discovered is now their children, their children who did not go through the genocide, who did not experience the traumatic event now they battle the same psychological struggles, but also they will do blood test and discover that they too have the same low cortisol levels or whatever that physical manifestation of that internal traumatic event that manifested is taking place in the children and even into the grandchildren. What do you what what what are you saying preacher? I'm saying that there's a good chance that that what you're struggling with And if you can look back into your family and if you can perhaps have an honest conversation with mom, dad, grandma, grandpa and if your great grandparents are alive, you might discover that your parents, grandparents or have battled some of the same sin and some of the same things that you are battling. It may manifest as infirmity, but that physical, but we're talking about iniquity, and that is a spiritual thing. That is a spiritual thing. The Bible says that fathers eat sour grapes, and their children's teeth are set on edge. That the the daddies ate a bad grape, and that manifest in the children's lives. That their their weaknesses are now compounded into the children's life. And And as much as you may like it and want to, you cannot change your history. You can't change, and I cannot change who my grandparents and great-grandparents are. And And Satan is very aware. While we speak of his defeat, let us not be ignorant of the fact that he's not dumb. He's defeated, but he's pretty good at being the devil. Promote somebody. And so he understands I have an He does not have the ability to create. He only has the ability to scar. And he's now learned if I can scar the seed, I have I have scarred everything beyond and everything that will come out of them. And so when your mother was in your grandmother's womb as a fetus, when she was 5 months in your grandmother's womb, she had all of the over all of the eggs that she would ever have. That you, a part of you, was inside of your grandmother. And traumatic things that happened to her and things that she's gone through has been passed down generationally into your life. And Satan understands that by destroying fathers and mothers, grandparents, he affects generations to generations.
And so he strategically does his deeds at perfect times with max consequence, max collateral damage in mind. Preacher, you're Matt Tuttle. We're supposed to splash in a puddle. Why are you preaching this? The first one reason is so that you can get victory. I want you to get victory over whatever has been handed to you. And I'm preaching it for the another reason. I preach it to every father and every mother, every future father and every mother, to every grandparent so that you can realize that your sin, your complacency, your actions or your lack of actions have consequences that supersede your seat, that supersede you. That your temper, out of control anger, your negativity, the gossip, the sin that's rampant that you think you have confined to your mind or your mouse pad is going to do more than just affect you. It's going to be perpetra- It's going to be given on generationally, generation- I know you look across the house and see two or three thousand people, but let me preach to what's inside of you. Let me preach to generations beyond you, those that are not even present. Let me preach to the kids that are going to come from you or already have come from you and say though tonight, we've got to break some generational curses. We've got to change Come on. That's why I come to every altar call. People are like, I don't really, you know, I don't really need to go to the altar call. What a selfish, narcissistic thing to say. Every time there's an altar call, I get myself to it. Why? Cuz I'm not just bringing me, I'm bringing three to four generations. Well, the sermon wasn't for me. No, but maybe it's for what's in you. So, I get up and preach with the preacher on every point. Why? Cuz I'm preaching, I'm praising, I'm praying for I've got to preach to what's in you. We've been doing this a long time. We're long-time friends. You know the story of my family, my parents who sold all and gave all to go to the Netherlands, but my my story goes back further. Had you met my maternal great-grandfather, you would have met a vile and evil man. A man that would take my great-grandmother and chain her up and beat her. Who would rape all four of his daughters, my grandmother being one of them. Beating her, molesting her, taking advantage of her. He He was vile in many stories. My grandmother, I'm the oldest grandson, she would tell me many a night things that she did. I remember one time she told me how he would take them shopping. He was wealthy, he owned a a brick company. He was a wealthy man. He left over a million dollars. And when he passed, that was more money than it is today. Still a lot of money. And he left it all to to a hospital, left his children, his family with nothing. He was vicious and vile until the day he died. She said one day one Christmas time he took all the kids in his truck. His children lacked for shoes, and they wore clothes that were holes and poor even though he was wealthy. And he took them all to the store and and he said, "I want you to pick out anything you want in the in the store." And they thought they were picking out their Christmas presents, so they picked out shoes and toys and he bought them all and took them outside, put them in front of his truck, and rolled over them and crushed them in front of their eyes. He psychologically, sexually, and physically abused them. At 15, my grandmother ran away from home. She met a man 10 years older than her, my grandfather. They went into a little Pentecostal church and God filled them with the gift of the Holy Ghost. They were baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. My grandfather never learned to read, he never learned to write. But they would sit down and as the oldest grandson, my grandmother would look at me as a little boy and she would say, "That was your great grandfather, but that is not who you are. You're a man of God. You're not going to beat your wife. You're not going to abuse your children. I broke it. He beat me, but you will not beat your children. You're going to be a preacher of the gospel. You're a mighty man of God, Matthew Tuttle. You're not what we came from. You know what some moms and dads need to do? They need to rise to their feet, look their future in the
face and say, "We might have come through divorce, but we're not going to We might have been through some stuff, but your children do not have to inherit what you came through. You can overcome Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin and they by no means declare the guilty visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and upon the children's children unto the third and fourth generation. The iniquity of the fathers unto the children. It didn't start with you and if you don't get a handle on it, it's not going to end with you. The Lord is long-suffering and great mercy. Forgiving iniquity, Numbers 14:18 says, "And transgression and by no means clearing the guilty, but he visits the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation. The iniquity of the fathers to the children." 5:9 of Deuteronomy, it's not in there once. "Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them nor serve them for the for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the father upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me. Jeremiah 36 and 4:31, and I will punish him and his seed and his servants for their iniquity. I will punish him and his seed. That's why the disciples in John chapter 9, when they're walking with Jesus and they stumble upon a blind man who'd been so since birth, they said to Jesus, "Is this man blind because of sin and his iniquity in his life, or is it because of his parents?" They understood that the sins of the parents could manifest It says, as you notice tonight as we're studying through scripture, that that it says the iniquity of the fathers five times, the iniquity of the fathers to the third and fourth generation, the iniquity of the fathers to the seed. He does not say sin. There's a difference in sin and iniquity. Sin the word is chata, just means to miss the mark. Iniquity awon in Hebrew means it means a stronghold or addiction might be the more modern word to say, but the stronghold behind it, the thing that drives that perpetual sin. Sin is is is is in all of us. All have sinned. All have missed the mark. All have missed the mark, but iniquity is more than just missing the mark. People in a state of iniquity are captivated so by sin that it will cause them to sin repetitively, ongoing, over and over and over. How do I get to that place, Pastor Tall? I'll tell you how, by repetitive sin or perhaps a major cat-catastrophic sin in your life. for example, I'll use a frequent a thing we're all battling right now that is pornography. one may be tempted and every person in this room will be faced with that at some point a young man a young woman and you may be tempted. You look, you sin, you miss the mark, you repent, you move on. There's some people though that don't need a pop-up an ad to find the sites. It's just in them. Come on somebody. I know you can't say amen but I'm going to preach right where you're living. They don't have to be tempted to sin. If you don't have to be tempted to sin, Some of you don't have to be tempted with the pop-up. You don't need an email or a text. You will find a way to get to it. Let me I know you should have a everybody should have a filter on this thing but you can't filter out iniquity. You'll go buy one. Come on and never tell your wife about it and discard it and you're living a double life. It's iniquity and you don't even want to do it. You you you on your way to do it. Your inside saying don't do it. I don't want to do it but it's within you. It's like it's something driving you. It's iniquity. God layeth up his iniquity for his children. He rewardeth him and he shall know it. Isaiah 64 and 6 he says but we are all as unclean thing and all our right our righteousness has filthy rags. We all do fade as a leaf. Our iniquities like the wind have taken us away. Iniquity will take you away from your family. It'll destroy your mind. It'll destroy your marriage. It'll pull you away from the things of God. It'll pull you away from things you don't even want to be pulled away from. It's iniquity. Old King David, I love David. Matter of fact, I don't know if I've ever preached a camp meeting without saying his name but I love him. He's a he's my kind of guy.
He He He He He would chop your head off He's a killer, but he's romantic. He's a poet, but he's bad to the bone. He's a giant killer, lion slayer, bear eating murderer. The dude was the man. He could unite kingdoms and lead with excellence, write songs and poems. But if you remember him, and I know you do cuz you're here on Saturday night. You remember him on a rooftop. He knew she would be there. She He'd been watching for quite some time. Because what you watch in perpetuity is what you What you keep watching is what you're going to eventually become. You Come on now. Because what you watch becomes what you think, and what you think becomes what you do. As a man thinketh. Now, don't you let the devil I'm off my notes. Don't you let the devil beat you up about a thought. A thought is a noun. Thinking is a verb. You don't You don't turn the noun into a verb. As a man thinketh, not as a man thought. You had a bad thought. We all have bad thoughts. Take it captive and don't put legs on it. Don't turn the noun into a verb. That's how you can live in victory. Stop letting the devil beat you up for a bad thought. You didn't think about it, but if you keep looking at it, you're going to think about it, and as you think, the action, the verb becomes And he was thinking about it. He had turned the noun into a verb, and now the action manifest in the form of a an adulterous affair that results in the murder of a man. To hide it all up, what What follows the affair What follows this affair are his seed. And Amnon is raping his sister. And Absalom is is filled with lust. And having sexual relations with the concubines before all of Israel because what you do in secret, daddy, your kids And then his son is plagued with lust, a sex addiction that will divide the nation of Israel. Listen to me. I said a sex addiction divided the nation of Israel. 300 women alone just for sexual relationships. The man was completely given over to his flesh. He was filled with iniquity. It's interesting in Psalms 51, David writes it here after this affair with Bathsheba. He says, and I I I don't just read it. I want you to listen to it. To the chief musician, a psalm of David when Nathan the prophet came unto him after he had gone into Bathsheba. Have According to thy loving kindness and according to the multitude of thy tender mercies, blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity and cleanse me from my sin for Against thee only have I sinned. I didn't want to do it. And done this evil thing that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest and be clear when thou judgest. Behold, he said, I was shapen in iniquity and in sin did my mother conceive me. He said, it's it's like it's going back to when I was I was born before I was born. I was born with this. It's in me and I can't escape it. It's a nick I'm preaching to somebody. I've got a word from heaven for somebody. I'm preaching to a somebody that's controlled by something in your life. I don't even know why. I don't know why. I'll tell you what it is. It's iniquity. He said, "I became a stranger because of it. It took me away. Now I'm a stranger unto my brethren and an alien unto my mother's children." The chapter is David saying, "I'm I'm not wanted by my family and my community." And and then he says in verse three of 65, "You will say the iniquities prevail against me. I can kill lions. I can slay bears. I can cut the heads off giants and I can unite the north and the south kingdom. I write songs. I preach sermons. I can do it all. But iniquity iniquity prevails against me. The stronghold is stronger than me. Oh. S- Salmon had Boaz and his mother was Rahab. Boaz had Obed. Obed had Jesse. Jesse had David and
David became king. Way back up in there is a prostitute. And Judah's got a sex problem. Come on, Sexual sin that had been passed down generationally generation to generation to generation. I don't know all the details in his family. Others theologians have big ideas and I'm not here to discuss that, but I know that he was battling iniquity cuz he wrote it in the Bible. And his daddy and grandma and grandpa did not break it for him. In Mark chapter nine, there's a to who has a son. And he brings his son to Jesus. First he had brought it to the disciples, the boy, and the Bible says that the boy would throw himself down on the ground in demonic fits to the place where the the demon was trying to kill the boy, for he would cause the child to be thrown into the fire. And the the boy the daddy says to Jesus, he says, "I've brought my son, and he's got a demon, and your disciples could not do anything." But Jesus doesn't talk to the demon. Jesus doesn't talk to the boy. And he said, "I've got a question for you, Dad. How long have you let that demon be in He didn't ask him, "How do you shout? How do you dance? How do you clap?" He said, "How long have you let hell be inactive in your family?" And the daddy confessed it. He said, "It's been there a long time." What? You've allowed this demon in your boy for a long time? I guarantee you, it didn't start off with him throwing him in the fire. The demon didn't start off trying to kill the boy. It just started off with something little. But let me tell you that little thing that you're allowing in your family, daddy, is going to grow into something that one day is going to take over your children, and you're going to be in paranoia saying, "God, what do I do?" And the preacher's going to say, "How long has it been going on? How long have you allowed the kid to do that? How long did you let him sit on the back row? How long did you let him be a part of the sports outside in the world when I keep telling you to get out of that garbage? How long are you going to How long till they get to sit on the back row and pick whether or not they come to church or not? How long? How long you going to let it happen in your house, Dad? That's the question. How How long? And finally he says He says, "Well, if you can do anything." Jesus says, "Baby, I'm not the problem." It's not if I can do anything. The problem is you. And all of a sudden, the daddy turns from praying for his son to praying for himself cuz he realized, "If I can get I know you want your family free. Let me tell you about the key. You got to get yourself free. You've got to get yourself delivered. You've got to get your feet unshackled and your mouth back open and your hands back to clapping. You didn't get to graduate from the shouting team. You didn't get to graduate from the prayer meeting. You don't get to graduate from holiness and righteousness. You haven't matured to the place where you can allow it in. No, sir. No, sir. Victory for your family starts with Oh, faithless and perverse generation. I'll tell you why we're battling perversion, because our faith has crippled. I said our faith is diminished, but I've come on the first night of Arkansas International Camp Meeting to revive the faith and to break the stronghold. Help my unbelief. Help my unbelief. Help my Help me, God. Help me, God. I wish I had a daddy and a mama that would lay your hands. I know you've been praying for your baby, but you need to start And the father's dysfunctional faith is now manifesting in the battles his Come on, you can't expect your kids to
Mama had a date Mama had a girl with the devil. She ends up saying, "Lord, help me." Come on, somebody. We can have victory at home when we have The beauty of the story is David is still used of God, for our history does not determine our destiny. But you better remember that if you don't confront the iniquity, the stronghold, Let me just say that to every preacher, every pastor, every Sunday school teacher. David didn't lose his position. Don't you let your position keep you from losing your children. Well, I can't confess cuz then I won't get to be the head usher. Baby, who cares about the head usher? Why would you hold your kids prisoner to a position that will fade? Come on, I see some of you staring like Some of you that need to run to an altar and throw yourself on it. Come on, you can't because you're worried about what other people are going to think, but why are you worried about people that your grandchildren will never know? The people in this building, your children will never see or probably know them, so why hold their future prisoner to people that don't matter? Get yourself, shake yourself, and say I've got to be free. What mean ye, verse two? As we circle to where we started, that you use this proverb concerning the land of Israel saying, "The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge." Verse three. Put it on the screen. 18th three of Ezekiel. As I live, so read this with me. As I live, saith the Lord. Read it just by It's very weak. Read it loud. As I live, saith The daddies eat sour grapes. It manifest generationally in the children's mouths in the form of rotten teeth. He says, "But you don't use this proverb where? It's It's not Tuesday night. You don't use it in You didn't just come to camp meeting. You came to the place where we take demonic curses and generational sins and we and we cut their heads off. When we go home from 2025 camp meeting, it's going to be with more than sore shin splints and more than hands that burn because we clapped. We're going to have demonic blood all up on That's why you got to get up in every altar. That's why if I was in the mezzanine, I'd find a way to get up as close as I could. I'd push my way through every person, everything and say, "Get me up to that place. I got to got to kill I got to kill the depression. I got to kill the suicidal thoughts. I've got to put an end to the iniquity in my family. I've We've come to put an end to every generational curse, to everything that's been driving you so that your children I'm I'm I've got a few minutes. I I don't just want to give you theory and no practice. Sometimes it it frustrates me when we get theoretical or even theological, but you never put it into practice. Tell me how. Cuz you're talking about my kids. He says in Ezekiel 18:13, for the sake of time I'm speeding. Therefore, I will judge you, oh house of Israel. Every one of you according to his way, saith the Lord God. He said, "Repent." Look at your neighbor and say, "Repent." And turn yourself from your transgression, so your iniquity shall not be your ruin. Yes, we're going to have the Holy Ghost. Yes, we're going to have fire, but it begins with a church saying, "I'm done." It's your mouth opening up and saying, "I'm done." And you turn around. And tonight's got to do be more than patty-caking 16 times and
pushing me to the next point. It's got to be a revolution, a transition in your life where you make a mindset where you make up your mind. You make up your mind and you say, "I'm going to serve the Lord." Come on. This is This are the kind of services. You go home and you burn things and you throw garbage away and you delete apps and you get rid of stuff. That's what's got to happen. Why? Because we've got to liberate our In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on his throne high and lifted up and his train filled the temple. Above it stood seraphims, each one had six wings. With twain, he covered his face and with twain he covered his feet. With twain, he did fly. And one cried to the other and said, "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts. The whole earth is filled with his glory." Verse six for the sake of time, then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken from with tongs from the altar. He took a live coal from an altar, a hot white coal on fire. You know what he did with it? He laid it on his lips. He laid it on my mouth. Verse seven, and he laid it on my Come on. And he said, "This has touched your lips and thine iniquities iniquity is taken away and your sin is purged." What are you saying? I'm saying that you break iniquity by opening your mouth and saying some things that burn. It's when you It's the kind of prayer tonight you're going to have to put your face in the carpet so nobody can hear it and you get down and you have a little talk with Jesus and you start talking. Come on, somebody. You start talking about all the stuff. I know you got a cute little bun and a nice little suit supply tie and you got your little custom suit, but who cares? I've come to preach to a dad, a teenager. I've come to preach to a young man that says I don't care about how good I look, I got to be free. I got to be free. I've got to be free. I've got to set my family free. I battled with this, but my boy is not going to. I struggled with this, but my my daughter is not going to. I know you can praise him about how good he is, but you need to start talking about how bad you've been and declare the blood over it. And I declare Messiah You have to repent for generational stuff. Repent for things done in your You say, "Oh, preacher, I don't know about that old remember old the old lady with the issue blood mark chapter 5?" Bible says she had this issue of blood for 12 years. She she had suffered many things and many physicians spent all that she had nothing better grew worse. When she heard that Jesus, she came in the press and touched behind. Bible says she pushed through people. Put it on that screen, here. She pushed through people. Let me tell you the final thing you have to break through to break things to the And there's people that come to Pentecostal church and they're not in the prison of addiction, they're in the prison of people's opinions. Captured and called out by what everybody going to think about him, how they're going to talk about him on the internet, how you might as well just get Hey, if Facebook is keeping you from praising, get rid of it. If Instagram is keeping you from worshipping, you ought to I don't have any of that garbage. Why? Cuz I don't need the distractions that keep me from my freedom. I I just can't do that garbage. It's not going to fit into my Yeah. I said it. We got to Hey, we used to preach against television. We still do. One of the main reasons was because of the time. Back in the day wasn't maybe so much bad on it when it started, but but I remember my dad saying just takes up too much time. I'm waiting on somebody just to tell me to get rid of it. Hey, come on. I haven't made it a law, but it's a law for me. I don't have time to fool around with that. You got You got to guard your time. And you got to push people and
Facebook, Instagram, social media are all people. Who cares? Free. Push people. She's pushing people out of her way. She pushed this person out. Finally. The Bible says that she touched the hem of his garment. She said if I can touch him, I'll be whole. But confessing with her mouth was not enough. You got to do something. You got to get up. Come on, you can get You can confess with your mouth, but you going to have to push through some stuff and get to Jesus. The Bible says she touched him and per saltum in Greek, straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up and she felt in her body that she was healed of the plague. He touched She's healed of the plague. Per saltum means everything at once. Meaning it was more than just the plague. He restored her her mind, her her emotions, her finances. He He just poof. However, there was still one thing. She was healed, but not whole. So, he said, "Where is she? I need to talk to her." And the disciples are like, "Why do we need to talk? She's healed. Why do we need to have a conversation In verse 32, he looks around. And then, verse 33 is a startling passage. For it says he verse 33, he the woman fearing and trembling. Now, that don't make sense. You were just healed of a 12-year sickness. Everything was just restored to you. This is where you sing, "He touched me." "Oh, touching Jesus is all that really matters." I can't wait Oh, man, this is how This is how she should have been coming, but she was not coming to Jesus dancing, shouting, singing. She had not written a poem. She Her head was low, and she's lift physically in so much panic and fear. She's bound by something, but it was more than physical. There was an iniquity in her. I believe it with all my heart. And she threw herself down at his feet. And do you know what she did? She did not worship him. The Bible says Go to the next verse. The Bible says she fell down and told him all the truth. She got down at the altar, and she said, "Jesus, I was taken advantage of when I was a little girl. They did this to me and left me. My dad ran off on me. I don't understand it. I don't know why it happened to me. I'm broken on the inside, and it's manifested in my physical well-being." I don't understand. God said, "Daughter." He said, "Now, I'm going to make you whole." And some of you have been healed, but you've never had the talk. I know you touched him, but have you had Come on, cuddles come to do more than get you to touch him. I need you to talk to him. Tell him Tell him You can't be free pretending like you got everything going on perfect. You can't You're holding your your children and your future prisoner by by keeping them in the lies of denial. I need to be free. And hell has got you so intimidated. I'm done. Musicians come. Hell has got you so intimidated. So bound up. I know you you say he's under your feet, but it's amazing the spirit of intimidation and that's the generation we are in. And it manifests across all platforms. They intimidate you. They're trying to intimidate you into not speaking truth. Yeah, speak a truth, but you better they better be theirs or You've got to learn how to tell the truth and talk to God and you've got to learn how to look the devil in the eye You know, again, let's let's just go right on to David. I'm I'm a little bit off my nose, but you remember David? He's going out he he's introducing himself to Saul. He says, "Hey, that's Before he kills this giant, he's already killed a lion and a bear. You remember that? Before he killed the lion, you know what he did to the lion? Bible says verse 35 1 1 Samuel chapter 17. Says he said, "I went out after him." He He "When I showed up" verse 7 verse 35 I think it is 17. I went after him, I smoked him and delivered him and when he" There it is. He got the sheep. Go to the next
verse. "He rose up against me, I caught him by his" I could preach that, but I'm not going to. I'll get in trouble on the internet. The devil had a beard. He grabbed him and whoa, somebody. Grabbed him. He grabbed him. Now listen, he didn't grab him. He didn't grab him by the tail. He didn't grab him by the foot. He grabbed him by the beard. He grabbed him by the face. He looked him in the eye. He didn't just kill him. Some of you trying to sneak up on iniquity. Some of you trying to come in from the backside say, "Well, I'll just try" You cannot do it. You've got to grab hell by the face, look it in the eye and say, "Today" That's how he could stand in front of Goliath and say, "I'm a" He was talking trash. He was letting him know, "I'm going to kill you." You know what you need to do on the first night of camp meeting? You need to grab that iniquity by the beard and say, "I'm done. I'm not slipping up behind. I'm not coming up from the bottom. I'm looking you in the It's finished. It's finished. It's Look at your neighbor and say, "I'm about to break the curse over my And when you Here's what's going to happen. Tonight as we start telling the truth Leviticus 26:14, "But if they confess their sins and sins of their ancestors. If you will take responsibility for the sins I have spent time in prayer and I have repented for the sins of my family. For the homes, I've repented for my grandfather molesting and raping. I've repented for them. I have said, "God, forgive. Forgive sins I know." They told me They told me more and I've repented for those things. I've repented for their sins. I've repented for the sins He says, "And if you will repent for their unfaithfulness and their hostility towards me." He says, "If you will do that, it's what made me hostile to them towards them so that I sent them into the land of their enemies. When their their uncircumcised heart were humbled and they paid for their sin." He says, "I Here's what I'll do in verse 42. I will remember my covenant with Jacob and my covenant with Isaac and my covenant with Abraham." He said, "When you break the generational curse that and you liberate three generations forward, I'll loose three I've come to preach to somebody that your grandmamma had an anointing and God's about to I've come to preach to somebody that there's an anointing that's compounded and when you open your mouth and you repent for your father's unfaithfulness and you take responsibility Come on for the sins of your past. You're about to release the anointing that's been pressed down and bottled up held behind a dam of iniquity that's about to break So, here's what we're going to do. Nobody's going to take anybody by the hand. You just going to be by yourself. And you're going to push in to this altar as close as you can get. You need to physically move. You need to make a physical move from your position. I know you can't all get up here. But it wherever you're at, you need to be somewhere else when we call because you are about to Come on. The body physically moving is a manifestation of what's happening in the spirit. You are moving something in your spirit. You're moving something in your family. You're moving something for your children. Something's There's a If you know both sides, maternal and paternal, that you have perfect lineage all the way back four generations, you can stay where you are. But for the rest of us for the rest of us that are battling things in us that we want to liberate our children from, come on. They'll face some Goliaths, but don't you let be the one that you refuse to kill. They'll face some bears, but don't let it be the one you refuse to kill. And on the count of three, you're going to open your mouth, and you're going to begin to shout unto the Lord. You will feel a weight that becomes on you. Note, some of you are going to fall to your faces, others going to fall to their knees. Some will lift their hands and begin to shout and dance. There will be responses that
differ across this congregation, but do not Do not stand in the same way that you are. Allow the spirit to move you into a new place, into a new dimension. And I want you as the roar as the roar of the shout of victory comes forth, I need you to open your mouth and begin to be truthful, and begin to speak. I need you to look it in the eye. Eyes are closed. I need you to take one hand and get a hold of the beard of the devil. Get a hold of the beard of your I bought Come on. You have never looked him in the eye. I need you to name what it is that your father, your multi-generational divorce, your multi-generational suicide, your multi-generational affairs and sexual impropriety, your multi-generational alcoholics and depression, criticism. Your Your grandmother's a critic of the church. Your grandfather and your mother always negative and gossiping. That is not just a bad personality. That is satanic and it's an iniquity. And you're going to bind it in the name of Jesus. Look it in the eye and on three you're going to shout, "It's over! It's over!" And one, come on, I need you to have it in the in your hand. Hold it in your hand. Hold that thing you do that you know you should not do. Hold it. One, you're going to shout, "It's finished!" One, Your knees ought to hit the floor. Your mouth needs to open as there's a roar of intercession, a roar of repentance for our generation. We repent for the failures and the faithlessness of our previous generation. God forgive Little Rock. God forgive our cities. God cleanse my family. Purify me, oh God. Tonight I'm changing the way I walk. I'm changing the direction of my family. I'm altering the course of my destiny. I'm rearranging my family tree. It's all going to be Methamphetamines are no more. From here on out, pornography addictions are dead. I'm I'm confessing it with my mouth. I'm letting it come forth in truth so that my Come on, this isn't a night to spectate. This isn't a night to liberate. This isn't a night to watch. This isn't a night to murder some lions and bears and depression and anxiety. That's it. That's it. Name it. Name it. Begin to speak the name of Jesus over it. Try to do it in English. Try to speak it in your language. We'll go to tongues when you feel it, but right now, you got to name it by name. Here I tell you, declare it. Hey, mama, start speaking faith over you. I You're not talking about your daughter right now. We're not talking about your grandbaby. We're talking about you. Come on, I know you can put a button up blinded, but I need you to pray for you. Come on, sir. I know you can tie a tie without thinking about it, but I need you to talk about you. Here I got Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Here I want to tell you what hell is afraid of is you changing. Come on and healing the scars of the seed. The seed is going to be healed. What I'm going to birth is going to be whole. What I'm going to give Come on now, daddy, I need you to lay your hands on your spouse or on your son. Moms, get with a family member if you can. And I want you to begin as family units to lay your hands. I don't care if you preach the gospel 600 years, you need to lay your hand on your son, lay your hand on your daughter, lay your hand on your
That's it, young man. Don't you get up until it's done. That's it, grandma. I know you've come through hell, but you're not going to hand it to your children. I know you've come through adversity. I can't change the past, but I can't allow the past to hinder me from my future. So, in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, I remove the weapon that the adversary would come. In the name of That's it, friend. Somebody lay your hands on them. Come on. Multi-generational sin is going to be broken in the name of Jesus Christ. You're going to redeem your future. Come on, there's others of you that are battling perpetual sickness. It's more than just in your genetics. It's infirmity. That means it's spiritual sickness. You need to speak healing virtue. If you're battling ongoing depression, you're In heaven, it's it's called vexation, and it's spiritual. You don't need a pill. You need a healing. Declare it over your mind. Speak to the spirit of infirmity. Speak to the spirit of iniquity. Speak to the spirit that vexes In the name of Jesus. In the name of Jesus. In the name of Jesus. I feel your anointing flowing, breaking every chain, destroying the yoke. Destroy it, God. Consume it so that it cannot be repaired. Destroy it so that it cannot be put back together. Destroy the yoke. Destroy it in the name of Jesus. Destroy it over every family. Let the heritage of the family be one of Holy Ghost healing. In the name of
