Summary
Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.
Escape from Alcatraz — and the prisons people still live in
- Sloan opens with the June 1962 escape from Alcatraz: four men planned for months to leave the island prison in San Francisco Bay; one never got off the island, and the other three were never seen again.
- Escape is not impulsive — it takes planning, strategy and hard work — and Sloan insists he is not promoting breaking the law, but drawing a lesson about the will to get free.
- Many believers are bound by things from their past life — sickness, addiction, past hurts and scars, fear and anxiety — and want release, yet stay fixated on the problem; for some, even the rattling of the chains has become a comfort.
- Their faith rises in a service and falls back again, leaving them feeling stuck in their mess even though they still pray, believe and trust God.
A wall of separation between you and victory
- Using helpers holding a waving banner as a living picture, Sloan describes an ugly wall or veil of separation standing between a believer and victory over whatever plagues them.
- Believers quote that greater is he that is in them than he that is in the world, and that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, yet still come to church, worship and pray at the altar without breaking through.
- The struggle is real: they know they can be okay, but they do not know how to get past the situation, and they wonder where God is in their mess.
Scriptures: 1 John 4:4; Isaiah 54:17
God makes a way to escape the temptation
- A helper portraying Jesus is brought close, and Sloan argues the problem is often not Jesus' location but the believer's: the same Jesus is on both sides of the veil, and the way forward may be to rise above the curtain of doubt and fear.
- He reads that no temptation has taken the hearers except what is common to man, and that God is faithful not to allow them to be tempted above what they are able, but to make a way to escape so they can bear it.
- Temptation here also means being tempted not to trust the blood of Jesus — to think he can help everybody else but not me, or to fold one's arms and do nothing.
Scriptures: 1 Corinthians 10:13
Go up higher: praise, listen for his voice, and walk past the veil
- When a believer finds Jesus, the veil is thrown down and faith moves to another level — praying gives way to praising as if life depended on it.
- Victory is not one-and-done: life repeatedly brings the believer back to an altar with a new hurt or hang-up, and each time the same Jesus, power and anointing are found by rising above the veil.
- Sloan recalls his grandmothers' counsel to go up higher, because above the veil Jesus can be seen; getting there may mean climbing over fear, doubt and questions and listening for God's voice, sometimes through the counsel of others.
- Some answers come as growth rather than instant removal, and even quiet waiting has its place — but attention must rise off the mess toward the greatness of God.
Carry the victory into the home and keep choosing the narrow way
- Men are challenged to reclaim their homes: to step to the door, invite Jesus in, drive the devil out of every room, and become strong men over their houses again.
- Husbands and wives are both held to the same standard, and parents are urged to pray over their children so that the children learn to hear the voice of Jesus for themselves when their parents cannot do it for them.
- The broad way to hell requires no discipline at all, while heaven is reached by choosing the straight and narrow and walking according to God's will, principles and character.
- The service closes in prayer and an altar call — men first, then wives and families — declaring that the way of escape is already made, and calling hearers to rise above the veil into healing, deliverance, authority and victory.
Scripture index: 1 John 4:4; Isaiah 54:17; 1 Corinthians 10:13.
June 1962 was a clammy prison cell on an isolated island in the bay off of San Francisco, California. Was a federal prison there was known for its isolation because of the cold waters of the Pacific Ocean. Sharkinfested waters were added to the mix. It's a very challenging and difficult place because it was a penitentiary. Everybody say prison. But four men in that June evening, they had spent months planning on leaving the island in an attempt to escape the system to go free into the real world.
and they would never ever fill out complete their incarceration. Frank Morris, John England, Clarence England, and Allan West. They were bent on getting out of this mess that they had put themselves in. So, six months give or take of planning. They planned an escape. We do know that Allan West was captured on the island. So, he never did make it off. He actually returned to confinement and died there. But the other three men were never seen again. Never seen again. In fact, I I I did a little research on this.
The case, according to the system, is still open until 2032. 2032. Man, I bet leadeds are very cold. Needless to say, the disappearance of these three men from a a an impossible place to get inescapable place, inescapable system would go down in the history books. And everybody here knows the story because it's escaped from anybody been there. That's such an interesting spot. Isn't that cool? That's I' I've been under there with a boat. went fishing out there in the bay and 4:00 in the morning, no light anywhere.
I hear bong on this boat going across the bay. Bong bong. The guy driving the boat said, "Oh, that's Alcatres. They're making sure you don't hit them like you could run into an island." But anyway, it's like running into a mountain, right? Who would put that there? Startling event. It altered prison system. Everything changed at that point. In fact, Hollywood still loves that story. They still produce movies and books and things about it. Planning, trying to build up the nerve, trying to get the ingredients that would be needed to pull off such a stunt.
It's astounding to me that I'm not promoting breaking the law today. Please don't don't put that on social media. I don't I don't I don't come with enticing words of my wisdom to beat the system and the establishment. That's not what I'm saying. I'm simply referencing this because I'm figuring out more and more that I study people that there's a reminder here that if the will of man wants to do something, it can. I mean, honestly, there's no doubt been many that tried and failed, but somebody succeeded in one shape or form, whether shark bait or living now their lives.
I don't know. But I do know this. We can learn from these things. And so, I I I know that there have been prisoners in any system that wanted to walk away, but they figured out that if they did the crime, they needed to. Ain't that funny how we know prisonery things and we're not prisonery peoples? It's just interesting to me. Now, this is an effort today. I spent just a couple of minutes trying to simply clarify the message for today. I wanted to folk to understand that this account is very interesting because escaping is not an easy task.
You don't wake up one day say boy, I'm gone. I'm out. You don't say that. But what you do is you got to plan. You got to strategically look at things. You got to study things. you got to do. Why? Because getting away without paying the penalty is going to be very, very costly. It's hard work. I I would say that in our environment and social system today, hard work is the prison itself. some would say. But I rise to this pull pit today with this account to simply get you to understand maybe that when you're in bondage, when you're in prison, when you're incarcerated, for whatever reason there may be that are plaguing you and and whatever things happened that got you wrapped up in the midst of that situation, you reach out to others.
You talk about it. Somehow you try to get help for your dilemma. And it doesn't matter what prison or what kind of drama that you've been wrapped up in. I'm not even really talking right now about being behind bars. But I feel like that in an environment like we're sitting today and those that have joined online that some are still bound up in things that of their past life. They want to get free of it. They want to be released from it. But there's a dilemma there because they have so fixated themselves to their problem and their issue that they have a difficulty of getting past it into victorious life.
In fact, some would even say, if I may, please give me some moment here that some would say that the rattling of the chains that they're connected to is a comfort to them. Now, now they don't stop praying. They don't stop believing. They don't quit trusting God. They just simply are not sure that the system can be beaten. In fact, I I am rise to this podium today to say that many perhaps listening right now, you understand what prayer can do. You understand what hard work and determination can do.
You still believe in the blood of Jesus. But for whatever reason, there's a challenge in breaking free, getting loose from the chains. your faith, it rises and then it falls. You go through a service, a good time, and it goes up and then for whatever reason it falls back down into an abysmal reality that you are stuck in your mess and life has you bound. Now listen to pastor for just a moment. It could be today that your sickness is simply running rickshot in your life and you can't get past it.
It very well could be that there's an addiction that you're trying to break and get loose from, but it won't turn itself loose. It doesn't matter what it is. It doesn't matter how it works, but you're bound up by that and you want to get free from it. But the escaping is such a challenge and it very well could be that there's a past hurt or a scar that happened in your life and for whatever reason you can't get past it because it keeps coming back and haunting you and pulling you down and beating you up.
if you will. It could be then the fear and the anxiety that some of you face. You feel like it's outside of your control. Therefore, you are simply going through the motions as best as you know how. Whatever that situation is, whatever that chain of bondage might have you wrapped up in, you desire freedom. But freedom comes with a price. And somehow someway if you're weak and you can't get the strength to go and rise above it that there's something that happens when you simply feel better about what's going on but you're not yet free from it.
I've asked a couple young gentlemen to help me today. Would you gentlemen come please quickly take your positions. This is simply for explanation's sake. simply for explanations sake. Perhaps today there's someone in here and there's an ugly wall of separation between you and victory over whatever is plaguing you. These guys will be all right. Your prayers are focused. They are to the point. You know exactly how to ask God for help. You know what happens when somebody breaks free because you've seen it or you've heard stories about it time and time again.
though your life falls into a pit and some get set free but for some reason this wall of separation continues to wave in front of you and you wonder and you you question there's got to be a better way another way a more sanity that I can go through the the Bible tells us listen carefully in first John 4:4 ye are of God little children and have overcome them because greater is he that's in you than he that's in the world. Anybody know that verse? You quote it.
You talk about it. You want to believe it. You want to get free. And so you'll rise to the occasion and you'll say, "Greater is he that is in me than he that's in the world." But the fact still remains, you're behind this veil and curtain, and you can't get past it because you don't know how to break free from all the stuff that's got you bound. I know that I'm okay. I know that I can be okay. But the fact is I don't know how to get past this situation.
You pray the prayer. You read the scripture. The struggle is real. You might even go to Isaiah 54:17. No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper. Every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment, thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servant of the Lord. Uh, and their righteousness is of me, sayaeth the Lord. uh you want to be free. Uh you'll quote these scriptures. Uh you'll talk about being free. Uh you'll even desire to be free. Uh but for whatever reason, you come to the house of the Lord.
You lift your hands. You worship God. You pray in the altar, but there's still a curtain uh something uh is keeping you from true victory. And you don't know how to break through from it because it has you bound. It has you in feathers. It has you in chains. And you wish to God that somehow you'd break through it. But the struggle continues. Where is God in my mess? Listen to pastor for a moment. I woke up six times through the night last night. again and again going through this in my prayer laying in the bed trying to rest and sleep and this is is just echoing through and you you and I'm believing God today for a great miraculous move of the Holy Ghost and already there's been songs sung there's been testimonies of the healing power of the spirit of God yet in this room and online I'm convinced there are folk that are struggling with their past and they're struggling with who they are and they don't know how to break through it.
They don't know how to get past it. They still believe in an old rugged cross. They might even have people to think that, hey, everything's okay with them, but in their heart and in their mind, they can't. I asked these two young men to help me. I asked them to make sure this banner waves and it it moves because this is some of you today. Uh, you've come into the house of the Lord and you want so bad to be freed from the chains, but you can't get through it.
You can't break free from it. Uh the escape plan has never come. Uh and you wonder, how am I going to get past it? I've come to tell somebody today that there's only one way that you can I wish I had Jesus in the househ. Is Jesus in the house today? Is Is Jesus in the house today? Is there Jesus in the house today? Could I get Jesus in the house today? Yeah. Now, this I asked him to be my Jesus today. He's not. But he said he would do it.
Thank you, y'all. Keep going. You're good. See, here's the thing that happens. We trust that God can do what God says he can do. But faith sometimes in our lives fail short. And we struggle with hurts and habits, hangups. We we struggle with who hurt us and what they did to us and how we can't get past it. And it's simply this. And we want to, we so desire to, but we can't see through the veil. It's too dark. I rise today to this platform to tell somebody if we can get Jesus to us, if we can get him by us, if we can get him where we are, then all of a sudden things will change.
Thank you. So they're okay. Jesus is with you. Jesus is close to you. Where's my third helper? Did he quit? Jesus knows what's going on. Come on. The verses hold true. His rod and his staff, they lead me. But the struggle is real. How do I get past this, Jesus? How can how can I get past this? How how can I move beyond this, Jesus? How can I find a way past this? See, here's the thing is if I'm standing here behind this veil of darkness and I want so bad to rise above and get past and escape all this junk that I'm at.
It might well be, friend, that the situation is not at all Jesus. But the fact remains that you're standing at an altar. You're looking for an answer. You're trying to find hope and healing in the hurt and the mess, but you don't know how. I want to help someone today. It's very, very possible that what you really need to do is simply rise above the curtain. You need to get to a place to where the curtain of doubt and fear no longer affects you. Listen to pastor a moment.
It might very well be that what's going on in your life has been a mess that you found yourself in and you can't see. It might Hey, I come to tell somebody that he's the same God yesterday, today, and forever. Hang on to me a moment. But the fact still remains if we believe that he can heal and we believe he can deliver and we can believe that he's omnipresent and we can believe that he's omnisient and we can believe that he's omnipotent and we can believe that God can be God and no matter where we are or what we're doing.
Uh I rise to this podium today to tell somebody in the wee hours of this morning it came on like a light. I figured, you know what? If Jesus is the same here, that he's got to be the same someplace else. And what I really need right now is an escape plan. And therefore, I need to get out from behind that veil and I need to rise up and I need to declare, God, where are you in this hour? Where are you at this moment? I wish I could find you.
I wish, Jesus, I knew where you were. Has anybody seen Jesus? Is there any way I can get it beyond this? Uh this sickness is plaguing me. Uh this disease is plaguing me. Uh my past is plaguing me. Uh the things I did, the hurts and stuff, they're they I can't get past them. But if I can rise above it, Jesus, where are you? What? Now look, look what happens. Look what happens if I'm back here. Jesus, where are you? I can't see it. But if I get above it, where are you?
Jesus. Whoa. Oh, whoa. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. What? Oh, is anybody hear him? Wait, wait, wait. Here. See, here's the here's the situation, y'all. Give me a moment. First Corinthians, you're okay. You there, Jesus? I'm here. 1 Corinthians 10:13, "But there hath no temptation taken you, but such as is common to man. But God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that which you are able." What? What? What? But will with the temptation also make a way to escape that ye may be able to bear it.
Some of us confuse this temptation with being tempted of doing sinful things and nasty things. And that could well be true. But also in this translation, it means being tempted to not trust in the blood of Jesus. Being tempted to say, "He can't help me. He can help everybody else, but not me." Some of y'all might be tempted to say, "I might as well fold my arms and sit back and do nothing." You might be tempted to say, "I still believe in an old rugged cross, but it's not for me." Therefore, when things begin to happen in your life, uh, and the doubt and the fear comes your way, uh, I've come to declare to somebody today on this Sunday, there is a God, uh, who is able to answer and to move in your situation.
You want to know how it works? Come on. Is there anybody ready to get past your junk, your garbage, your stuff, your sin? Some of you, we have prayed so many times for your circumstance. It's become part of our daily prayer and we wonder why can they not get past it. Some of you walked in this room today plagued with junk and garbage of life and you can't get over it nor past it and your life struggles. You have a smile. You shake hands. You look the part.
But all the time, all the while, you are stranded behind the veil of doubt and fear. But today, I rise to this platform to declare to you, if you can get above it and you can somehow in the midst of your struggle, praise Jesus as if your life depended on it. If you could somehow in your mess lift up the name that's above every name and actually believe it. Come on. If you could take the step to say, you know what? It's a struggle sometimes and life hurts sometimes, but I'm not going to be held captive behind a veil at an altar.
But instead, I'm climbing. I'm going higher. Jesus, where are you? Jesus, where are you? Therefore, I've come to tell somebody, if I am in bondage, if I am in temptation, if I'm about to lose my way, I have a choice that I can make. Jesus, where are you? Jesus, where are you? I can decide. I don't have to stay there. I can go. Jesus, where are you? Where are you? Jesus, he's made a way for me to escape this. I don't have to stay up there.
Where are you? Jesus, I can get out of this. He's already made a way when I got to that altar. Jesus, where are you? Where? Oh, I got to find him. I got to Jesus, where are you? Come on. I'm listening. I'm listening. Tell me. Tell me. Where are you, Lord? Oh, I got to get to him. There's a way of escape. I'm not staying there. I'm going to find Jesus. Where are you, Lord? Where are you, Lord? Where are you, Lord? And when I find him, listen to me.
Listen to me. When I find him, I go from this place, my mess, my veil, and I throw it down. And I say, "Now, my faith just took me here, and I'm going to another level. I'm walking past it. I'm going to another level. I'm not going to pray that way. I'm going to praise that way. Thank you. Now, listen to pastor for a moment. I believe prayer works. I do. I am a result of answered prayer. But I fear sometimes we forget that in wherever and whatever life is brought to us when the temptation's there's already a plan of escape.
And if he is truly omnipotent, omnisient, omnipresent, then I can find him here or I can move past that and find him there. Some of you need to grow in Christ by experiencing the victory through the blood of Jesus and a new start. Now, watch how this works. Y'all ready for it? Don't be discouraged or dismayed. Come here. Because the longer you live life, you're going to wind up back here. And there's going to be something else come your way. And there's going to be something else happen.
You're not going to know how to get past it. Jesus, where are you? Oh, where? But the more that I go through this and I relocate my position and I figure out where he's at, then I get to him and then I understand that I have risen above that and I'm now back to the feet of Jesus. Now, the thing about life that we all tend to forget, we want a one and done. We want something to be over with. And no, that's not how it works.
Because it doesn't matter how old you get, you're going to find yourself back at an altar saying, "Lord, I'm so hurt. I'm so messed up. I don't know what to do. My life is so full. Jesus, where are you? Jesus, where are you?" Because every time I get here, there's a way to escape it. And I can continue to grow. And I can continue to have victory over what's got me. Anybody know any old saints? Hallelujah. Anybody know any old saints? Man, my dear grandma, bless her heart, she could pray the fly off a wall, turn it into a horse fly.
My I talk about them all the time. I'll tell you why. Cuz I watch my 80s something year old grandom say my mom my grandma lived in her 70. I watched them both say, "Oh, baby, that's just life. That's just what happens. That's just how it transpires. Baby, don't be upset or mad. Don't be angry. Pick up, guys. Because you're going to find yourself here. And instead of being angry and mad at this veil, my granny said, "Baby, go up higher." Baby, go up higher. Go up higher, baby.
I said, "Granny, I don't understand." She said, "Yeah, cuz if you'll ever get above the veil, you can see Jesus. He's a I'm coming. I may have to go over chairs. I might have to go through fear. I might have to put some family members to the side. I might have to let go with some friends. I might have to change all of my location. I might But I'm going to have victory over this because the same Jesus that's here is the same Jesus that's there.
And every time that I learn that victory is in the name of Jesus, then this veil doesn't bother me anymore, I can have the victory. And when the challenges of life come my way, I can stand firm and say, "But he's never failed me yet." I just had to figure out how to get from here to there. It's the same Jesus. It's the same power. It's the same glory. It's the same anointing. Right. So these poor guys, their arms are so wore out. The system repeats itself.
It doesn't matter how old you get. I hear some old-timers say, "Well, boy, that was a challenge for you." And you got faith the size of a house, but the altar was the same. And I had to somehow figure out how to get past the broken, the hurt, the hangup. The only way that I could do it was rise above it and look where Jesus is. See, we Okay, I know I've been I've been reprimanded because I was so long last week. So this week I get him go double.
That's why I told him I did. We want to be able to have success to be an overcomer and be done with it. The fact remains this something that's always astounded me, astonished me in my Christian walk. Why are we all still here? Why? Well, Tim, I know I'm messed up sometimes. I I know what my brain can go through. I know how my attitude can get me and my tongue can. I know that. But some of y'all, I'd have thought y'all already been gone. Perfect.
Brother Daniel, apparently that's not the case. She's still there. Don't you let somebody lie to you. So what am I saying to you? I'm telling you this. The lessons that we got to learn is simply this. Every temptation there comes a way to escape. I fear some of us have fallen in love with our location because we're afraid to turn loose of the altar long enough to go find where Jesus is. Jesus, where are you? If I could just get you here, if I could just get near you, Lord, I think I'd be okay.
But I I've been trying to find you here. I've been looking for you right there this whole time. And can the Lord show up there? Absolutely. But could it be the lessons he's wanting me to learn is how to climb over a bench, how to go through fear and doubt and questions so I can get reconnected? Y'all going to let me pastor you for just a second? There's no reason 120 days of not any makes sense. But the same Jesus you found there is the same what you're going to find there.
And now your faith says, "Can he do it? Can he do it? See, some of y'all should have done lost your minds. Your whole situation should have driven you in an early grave. But for some reason, you're still here. Why? Because you figured out from one altar to the next, it's the same Lord. It's the same faith. It's the same power. He's just trying to get me to grow. He's trying to get me to grow. Brother Vandy, there ain't no way your life can be explained.
Come on. Come on. But he was pulling you. Find the way of escape. It's not strange. It's not a mystery. It's simply faith. Where are you, Jesus? Jesus, where are you, Jesus? When you find him, you get a hold of him. He never left you. He didn't forsake you. What he did was say, "Come up higher. I've got somewhere for you. You can't get there right there, but I'm going to get you to another level. I'm going to let you find me in another place. I'm going to let you discover me in another place.
I'm going to let you get to me in another place." See, some of us have been wrestling with sicknesses and illnesses in our body. And we just associate that with that's just what my life is going to be. I'm declaring that the whole council of God said by his stripes uh we are healed. What he's trying to get us to do uh is move from one place to the other. He can deliver us. Yes, he can. Uh but he wants to know are you willing to find the way of escape.
Uh and when you find it, dance on the devil's grave and say, "I found it. He's still God. He's still faithful. He's still true. Uh he's still righteous. He's still perfect. He's still perfect. How'd you know that? Because I kept climbing higher. See, the deal with that veil, it's only six foot tall. I can tell you personally that I've been behind veils that I couldn't see the top because it was so big. But Seth, I didn't know how I was going to get past But I figured out something.
If I could get high. Jesus, you got to be more than this. Jesus, where are you? I can find him. What do I need to listen for when I can't see him? his voice. Some of us get offended when somebody's trying to help us. Who they think they are trying to tell me what to do, how I need to pray, how I need to believe. It very well could be the voice of God saying, "Walk. Walk. There's a way to escape this. There's a way to get past this." Brother Don, would you come please listen to me?
I already told you that through the night I up and down, up and down and part of it old age. Part of it is while my old age is old aging. I'm trying to figure out what God's saying to me. Sam, I don't but I don't mind saying, man, I'm saying, Lord, but how do I get past that? How do I get people to walk in victory? And the Lord is so kind and gracious to me. He says, Raymond, they won't until they go higher. and step out in faith to go past it what they can't see.
Oh, we we go back to Isaiah. They that wait upon the Lord, right? Quietly wait on him. And so we figured out that's God's will is just be quiet and wait. And you know what? Sometimes it is. But you know, oh God, don't let me get in trouble. The reason that you need to be quiet and wait sometimes is because you're too loud. You're trying to get somebody's attention instead of rising higher and getting Jesus's attention. I figured out many years ago that when I'm caught in a mess and I don't know what else to do, know how to get there, that if I'll back away from what's the biggest, darkest, messiest thing that I've been trying to get through and I'll simply say, "Lord, you're great and greatly to be praised.
And in the middle of the storm, I'm going to love you. In the middle of my darkest hour, Lord, I'm going to lift you up. You're exalted above all this. You are all knowing God. And if I begin to look, I can now raise my attention from what the mess is. And I can go, Jesus, are you trying to get me to grow? And I can begin to find the way of escape. An escape route. It's a complicated thing, right? See, many of us approach the altar with our needs and we say, "Lord, would you, could you, should you do?" And when it doesn't happen that moment, what do we do?
The escape is to back off. Make sense? And then we come back to it because it plagues us again. What do I do? Would you? Could you? We back off. We consider the way of escape to simply mean, Lord, don't lead me into a place where I make a dumb decision. When the fact remains is the Lord knows who you are before you got to that place. And he said, there's a temptation here for you to back off and to quit, but you have prayed diligently.
Lord, I want to get close to you. Lord, I want to go higher. I want Some of y'all have prayed this silly prayer. Lord, I want you to be my healer. And the Lord's saying, good. I'll send a sickness your way so that I can heal you. And the only way you're going to get through that veil of sickness is for you to find the escape through the veil. March yourself over hell and high water and listen to the voice and the void. Lord, where are you?
And just keep going to it. Do you realize that if Jesus is saying, if you're asking, Lord, where are you? And he's saying, here I am. Do you know who's looking at you? Jesus. I'm right here. I'm over there, too. Yeah, I'm over there as well. But I have a way of escape for you. Come. Hey, right here. Here. Come on. Come on. Come. Come on. Come on. I got escape. I got it. See, it's right there. To the left. Left. Left. Yeah. Come on. Come on.
Come on. Come on. Ah. I don't go back. Come on. Hey, listen. Look right here. Look right here. Because we walk by and not by because we can't maybe see him. But I assure you, he's got his eyes on you right now. Some of you, your homes are full of such grief and sorrow because every doubt and every devil in hell is trying to stop your home. I'm I declare to you as a word from the Lord right now, if you'll step on your platform of the house that you live in, call it the front porch, call it the garage, call it whatever you want to, and if you'll tap that door, coming in.
Coming in. What do you mean this is my house? Well, it might not be. Some of us, I fear, have given it over to the enemy, and the enemy's wre havoc in our homes. Men, if you'll step to the house door coming in, who is it? Thus says the word of the Lord. I'm the prince of this house. I'm the one over this house. You're not. I am. Devil get. Devil go. Some of you are scared to death to do that because you may actually have to fight a battle.
I come to tell you, why don't you step to the door, open it up, and shout in there. Jesus, are you here? Are you in there? Are you there, Lord? I need to know if you're in there. And if you don't hear his voice in there, guess what you need to do? get his voice in there. All right, this is going to be a challenge. This is going to be hard. I I don't hear the voice of the Lord in my house or I don't know if he's in there or not.
Woo! Oh, God. I got to get this together. This is going to be so challenging cuz that means I'm going to have to go in here and beat down every devil that's tried to take up residence here. But I come in the name of the Lord God. Devil, you're a liar. Get out of my bedroom. Get out of my bathroom. Get out of my kitchen. Get out of my garage. Uh, you don't have residence here. I do. Uh, Jesus, do what you got to do. Uh, move like you need to move.
Uh, do what you have to accomplish. Uh, I come to tell you that when the prince of the home comes in, that the strong man's going to say, "Hey, what do I do? You better back away." Why? Because until you get the strong man, you won't get the househ. And men, some of you need to become the strong men of your house again. devil. Then when you leave and go to work and you come home that night, I'm just challenging you. Can I come in? Man, this is your house.
Your family's in there. Good. Jesus, are you in here? Yeah, Daddy. He's here. Okay. How do I know? Good. Daddy, you brought him in here. You invited him. and you invited him and he's a gentleman that says, "Where do I sit? You sit right here or you sit right here." Or why don't you be brave and say, "Wherever you want to." Can I go through your cupboards? Absolutely. Can I look through your furniture? Most certainly I got nothing to hide because you already see it all.
I know I know that uh some of you men get upset at pastor because I I talk very straight to you. That's cuz I love you. But man, I need you to understand something. Your wives are held to the same standard. Cuz if they're bringing junk in the house, men, you need to be strong enough to stand up and say, "Not in this house. Not going to happen." Maybe it's I don't care. I can't fight this. I can't wrestle against this. But my master will come where he is invited.
and the savior of my soul will come when I invite him. But honey, what about I it doesn't matter. But there are kids. Okay, let's both of us go pray over them. Let's get a hold of them. Let's get him in a headlock. Come on. Think I'm joking? I'd risk a headlock to let my son or my daughter go to hell? You're going to listen to this prayer. Jesus, with every love ounce that's in me, God, I'm trying my best to help them understand. They'll never make it in a dark, dreary world.
They'll face a veil one day, God, and they won't be able to get past it. But if I can get them to hear the voice of Jesus over here. Over here, then when daddy can't do it, Jesus can. Stand with me, please. I'm trying to watch my clock and be nice. Brother Don, I'm trying. There's going to be challenges that come your way, pastor. You're you're talking about all this battle and warfare. That's cuz that's what this is. But he makes a way of escape that no one else can make.
Go ahead, listen to the enemy. He'll try to help you escape, too. Guess where you're headed? to the building program. It's called hell. It's widening its gates every day. Do you know you don't have to try to go to hell? You don't have to try. You don't you don't have to try anything. You can go right to hell. There you go. Woohoo. You made it cuz it's broad and wide and destruction's there. You don't have to have any disciplines. You don't have to pray any prayers.
You don't have You can just go to hell. show up there and all the pain, suffering, sorrow you thought you had here will be unexplainable there. Whailing, weeping, nashing of teeth, pain without ceasing, fire, brim, and all those stuff that's going to happen. But heaven on the other hand is going to be choice. You're going to decide, you know what? Put me on the straight and narrow. Let me walk Lord according to your will. Let me walk Lord according to your principles and your character. Let me understand that in all my struggles and trials and all the temptations, you make a way so that I can escape that, Lord, because I'm constantly listening to your voice.
Pray with me right now. Lord Jesus, the first thing I pray for right now, Lord, because your word is new. It's sharp and powerful. It's quick, Lord. It works. And right now I pray the voice of the enemy would be silenced in the hearts and minds of your people. The voice of the adversary would be quelched right now. Stopped right now in the name of Jesus. I know God there are several in this place that struggle. They hurt. They have scars. They have issues. They don't know how to get past it.
But I declare the whole council of the Lord says there is victory to those who will search for Jesus. go higher and find him wherever they are. Lord, I believe today there is victory in this room. I believe that there is something happening in the atmosphere if we will trust you and believe if we will raise our attention and our ears to hear what says the word of the Lord. I'm believing God that you're going to open doors of opportunity, things to happen as we grow and mature in you.
Uh as we grow and mature in you. Uh, as we face the obstacle, we find you. We come around. Lord, we discover that in everything, you made a way of escape. Come on, somebody's hungry. You need to come to an altar today. Men, I invite you to come first with boldness and apostolic authority. Lord, I am so tired of all the junk. I'm ready for apostolic authority in my home. I am ready, Lord, for apostolic authority in my life, in my wife, and in my children.
Come on, men. I'm believing you for it, Jesus. Oh, come on. Pray that prayer. God, help me to rise to the occasion. Don't let me give in to the lies of the enemy. Hallelujah. Oh, come on. I need you, Lord. I am such a mess without you. Come on, men. Open your mouth. Cry out to God. Lord, I've got to have you. I've got to have you, Jesus. Come up higher. Come on. Get above it. Get above it. Look for Jesus. That's right. Come on. If you need a healing in your body, rise above it right now.
Come on. You need direction in your family, rise above it right now. Come on, men. Open your mouth. Talk to him. I need you, Lord. You made a way of escape. I can get past this. I can walk in authority. I can be healed. My wife and kids can be saved. Come on, men. Fight for your life right now. By the authority of the word of God, I am standing in this hour. Come on, man. Cry out to God. Yes. Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me.
I need you, Lord. I need you, Jesus. Come on, men. Lift your voice. Loud and strong. Lift your voice, men. Jesus. That's right. That's right. That's right. Come on, men. Oh, God. Help me to be what I'm supposed to be. Help me to be a godly man, a fit man, Lord, that will do the work you've called me to do. Help me, Jesus. I can pray. I can have revival in my home. I can. I can. My house can be a house of prayer. Yes, it can.
I can live in victory when I stumble and fall. God, I can arise when I fail and falter. I can get back up. Jesus. Jesus, have mercy on us. Have mercy on us. Come on, man. Come on, man. Call on the name of the Lord. I've got to have you, Jesus. I've got to have you, Jesus. I don't know how else, Lord, that I can make it without you. I must have you. Wives, ladies, would you come and help pray right now? Come on. Come on.
Would you bring faith? Come on. You've got power with angels. Would you bring it with you right now? Come on. Get up close to your husband, your spouse. Come on, get up close. Lord Jesus, bless right now and honor them, Lord. Let them find their authority in the scripture. Let them find the anointing. God, speak into their lives. Come on, ladies. Pray. Hey. Yeah. Come on, young people. You're here. You come pray with your family. Raise us, Lord. Lift us up, Lord. Come on, young people.
Come pray with your family. I must have you, Jesus. That's right. Come on. There's a way of escape. It's already there. It's already there. It's already there. He's made a way of escape. It's already there. Sing. It's already there. Hey, it's already there. Jesus. Yes. That's right. Come on, families. Come on, families. Get a hold of God. Jesus. Oh, that's right. Come on. Come on. Let your faith draw you closer together. That's right. Let your faith draw you closer together. Oh, the power of a praying family.
The power of a praying family. You are God. You are God. Oh, come on. There's victory. There is victory. You can bear it. There's a way of escape. He's already made it. You can bear it. Lord God, we pray for it today. Let us push past the veil. Let us push past the dark. Let us push past what we don't understand. God, let us walk in favor and faith. Let us walk in favor and faith, believing in you, Lord. Believing in you, Lord. Rise above it.
Rise above it. Climb higher in your praise. Climb higher in your worship. Exalt the name. Lift up the name. Lift up the name. Lift up the name. Come on. Are you tired of fighting it? Come on. Push on. Push on. Lord, there is victory. There is healing. There is deliverance. Lord, there is power. There is anointing. There is authority. Jesus, I'm believing you for it. You are God. You are God. That's right. That's right. That's right. Hey. Yeah. You are God. You are God. Oh, come on.
That's right. Press beyond it. Jesus. Jesus.
