Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

Sealed with the Holy Spirit of Promise

  • Carden declares himself apostolic in belief and unapologetically Pentecostal by experience; asked by his cousin, a Baptist minister, whether he would believe the same way if he had not been raised in it, he answers yes — the Word of God allows no other conclusion.
  • He takes his texts from Ephesians 1, Ephesians 4, and 2 Timothy 2:19: after hearing the word of truth and believing, "ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise."
  • Ephesians 4:30 warns not to grieve the Holy Spirit of God, "whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption."
  • Second Timothy 2:19 gives the seal its meaning: the foundation of God stands sure, having this seal — "The Lord knoweth them that are his" — and everyone who names the name of Christ must depart from iniquity.
  • The seal marks family membership: he counts himself part of the family, and so is everyone who has repented of their sins, been baptized in Jesus' name, and received the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Scriptures: Ephesians 1; Ephesians 4; 2 Timothy 2:19; Ephesians 1:13; Ephesians 4:30

You Cannot Start at Pentecost — Go Back to the Cross

  • Calling it perhaps the strangest Pentecost lesson his hearers have ever heard, Carden insists the events cannot be explained from Pentecost; you have to go to the cross, where everything about salvation came to its pinnacle at Calvary.
  • He traces the interchanges of the crucifixion: Jesus and the two thieves, with paradise promised to the one; Jesus and the crowd crying "Crucify him" while he prays, "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do"; Jesus and the Roman soldiers gambling for his garments, until one of them confesses, "Surely this was the Son of God."
  • At the foot of the cross stands John, the only disciple there, as Jesus gives his mother into John's care; in the temple the veil is rent, and in the flesh Jesus cries, "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me," while darkness, lightning, thunder, and earthquake mark the moment as supernatural.
  • That veil was about keeping people out — even the priests went behind it as onto ground that did not belong to them — but when it was ripped from top to bottom as Jesus cried "It is finished," access was given to what had been prohibited in times past.

The Broken Seal of the Tomb

  • Jesus dies, is laid in a borrowed tomb, and on the quiet morning of the third day — the first day of the week — the two women who come to the tomb find what they did not expect: a broken seal.
  • The broken seal signifies the resurrection: the covenant with death sealed on that tomb is broken, death that passed upon all in Adam is broken, and Jesus comes out with the keys of death and hell in his hands; an angel sits on the rolled-away stone while the Roman guards go away with a lying report that would have cost them their lives if it were true.
  • The angel's message is "He is not here" — he is going to find his people where they are; Carden warns against building a shrine to where the Spirit used to be, and worshiping where he used to move instead of where he is today, because he lives.
  • Peter runs to the sepulcher, sees the linen clothes laid by themselves, and departs wondering in himself (Luke 24:12); John, the other disciple who came first to the sepulcher, sees and believes, beginning to remember what Jesus had said about his resurrection (John 20:8).
  • Yet the drama leaves the disciples disappointed and scattered — the loss of hope, the loss of faith, and confusion — their confidence shattered after three and a half years of watching the dead raised, blind eyes opened, and deaf ears unstopped.

Scriptures: Luke 24:12; John 20:8

Joseph's Descent: Becoming Like Them to Save Them

  • To explain what happened among the disciples, Carden steps back to Joseph, whose Egyptian name meant "he who lives," but whose first thirty years were a continual descent — put in a pit by his brothers, sold into Egyptian slavery, and thrown into prison — yet he was there to save them: "You meant it for evil, but God meant it for good."
  • Joseph had to become like an Egyptian in order to save them, though he was not an Egyptian; so, as Hebrews 2:14-15 teaches, since the children are partakers of flesh and blood, Christ likewise took part of the same, that through death he might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil.
  • Joseph did not go into prison as an evildoer, but he became like one so he could take the keys of the prison when he came out; likewise, 2 Corinthians 5:21 says God made him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
  • Joseph's descent had a purpose — he had to go down so that when he arose he would come up with power, seated next to Pharaoh with the kingdom at his disposal; and Jesus, coming up, declared, "All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth," a power he has never relinquished.

Scriptures: Hebrews 2:14-15; 2 Corinthians 5:21

Known by the Seal Borne in the Body

  • Twelve or thirteen years later, Joseph's brothers do not recognize the ruler who looks and speaks like an Egyptian — though he knows them — because the last time they saw him he was going down.
  • Joseph puts all the Egyptians out of the room because his proof belongs to the family alone: back in Abraham's day God commanded every male of his house to be circumcised, and only the family of Abraham carried that seal, that mark, in their bodies — Joseph has not only a name but infallible proof, a sign and a seal only the family would understand and recognize.
  • The risen Jesus is likewise unrecognized by his own: Mary supposes him to be the gardener, and the disciples on the seven-mile walk to Emmaus know him only when he blesses the bread and they see what is in his hands.
  • When the eleven hear from Mary that he is alive and has been seen of her, they do not believe (Mark 16:11); but when he shows them his hands and his side, the disciples are glad (John 20:20) — he invites Thomas to put his hand in his side and test for himself that he is who he says he is.
  • Before the millennial kingdom, Israel will look on him whom they have pierced (Zechariah 12:10); as the old song says, we shall know him by the print of the nails in his hands.
  • We would not recognize Jesus if he walked through the door today — but he has given us something on the inside, a sign and a seal in the spirit, by which we recognize his presence anywhere, even sitting in a recliner at home.

Scriptures: Mark 16:11; John 20:20; Zechariah 12:10

Forty Days with the Family: Tarry for the Promise

  • For forty days the risen Jesus carries on no public ministry — he heals nobody, delivers nobody, opens no blind eyes; like Joseph, he has put everybody else out of the room because he wants to talk to the family, rebuilding their broken faith and confidence.
  • He reassures them: what he said would happen has happened — he was crucified and came back just as he told them — so they can believe what is next, the promise he is about to give them.
  • Luke 24:49 records the charge: "Behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you" — but they must tarry in the city of Jerusalem until they are endued with power.
  • The power is more than power to witness; it is apostolic authority, and it does not reside in Rome or on a chair in a cathedral — the promise gives apostolic power to live in the individual person.

Scriptures: Luke 24:49

Forty and Ten Make Fifty: Pentecost and the Named Family

  • Forty is the number of probation and preparation — as Moses and the children of Israel wandered forty years before entering the promise — and ten is the number of completion; forty days of preparation and ten days of perseverance complete fifty, and fifty is Pentecost, the end of the wheat harvest.
  • Jesus compared himself to the kernel of wheat that must fall into the ground and die to produce anything — and wheat produces wheat — so the giving of the Holy Ghost on the day of Pentecost was not an accident at all, but the promise coming due.
  • Ephesians 3:14-15 says Paul bows his knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, "of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named"; we are people of the name, but there is more to it than the name — he wants us to know who he is.
  • The sign that comes with the seal is given to the family, and outsiders do not understand it — only 120 were gathered in the upper room; there are times God puts everybody else out and moves just for the family, and Carden recalls worshipers of his own apostolic heritage who worshiped without regard for who was watching, and invites any who have not experienced it to come and taste and see that the Lord is good.

Scriptures: Ephesians 3:14-15

None of His Without the Spirit: The Sign of Tongues

  • Romans 8:9 draws the line: you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit if the Spirit of God dwells in you — "now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his"; not every grave will burst open, and not everything that calls itself Christian goes up in the rapture — the dead in Christ rise first, and then those who are identified with him by his Spirit.
  • Carden asks how long it has been since the hearers allowed the Spirit to exhibit and express the sign: in Acts 2:4 they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
  • The sign is perceivable wherever the seal is given: Acts 8 records the sign among the Samaritans, Acts 10 that they heard them speak with tongues, and Acts 19 that they spoke with tongues and prophesied.
  • The sign did not stop with the apostles: in the fourth century Augustine wrote that converts were still expected to speak with new tongues when the Holy Spirit was called down on them by the laying on of hands; John Wesley answered a doubter that it had been heard more than once not far off; the Quakers and the early Methodists knew it too.
  • Brought closer to home, the same Holy Ghost fell at Topeka, Kansas, in 1900 and at Azusa Street, and in congregations near Carden's own from the early 1930s onward — the same sign and the same seal are still being given today.

Scriptures: Romans 8:9; Acts 2:4; Acts 8; Acts 10; Acts 19

Buried with Him, Sealed unto the Day of Redemption

  • Romans 6:4-5 closes the lesson: therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death, that as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life — planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall also be of his resurrection.
  • Nobody gets out of this world alive except through the rapture, and we get out by the Spirit that is in us; he will know each of us by name as he calls us out, because we have the marks — as Paul said, the marks in the body.
  • Carden gathers his own testimony: baptized in Jesus' name, repented of his sins, filled with the Holy Spirit of promise, sealed unto the day of redemption — going up in the first resurrection because of the Spirit of God.
  • The lesson ends standing together in thanksgiving and praise to God for his faithfulness.

i'm apostolic in belief unapologetically apostolic pentecostal by experience always have been for as long as i can remember if there is nothing but this my cousin who is a baptist minister asked me one time would you believe the same way if you hadn't been raised that way and i had to say yes because if you look at the word of god you can't come to any other conclusion then this if i leave this i won't go anywhere because it won't matter i can't leave this and go to another church you understand what i'm saying it's like driving around with a big dent in your cars you never get fixed some people can tolerate that i cannot so if i leave this i'm not going to something that's dented and beat up just doesn't sound right or look right this is that that's what the prophet

said this is that that was spoken by the prophet joel so hang on to this freight train for a minute we're going to go somewhere today i want to take for my text today ephesians the first chapter then going to ephesians 4 and then ii timothy 2 19. you'll get the gist of what i'm going to talk about after these scriptures ephesians 1 13 says this in whom ye also trusted after that you heard the word of truth the gospel of your salvation in whom also after that ye believed ye were sealed everybody say sealed with that holy spirit of promise ephesians 4 30 he says and grieve not the holy spirit of god whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption second timothy 2 19. man i i love these scriptures because they they dovetail it tells me that i was sealed it

tells me the purpose of my being sealed to the day of redemption and then finally it tells me that god knows who i am because of this i'm sorry second timothy 2 19 nevertheless the foundation of god stand the sure having this seal the lord knoweth them that are his and let everyone that nameth the name of christ depart from iniquity i'm sealed i'm sealed to the day of redemption and god knows who i am by that seal i'm a part of the family so are you if you've been baptized in jesus name repented of your sins and receive the gift of the holy ghost that holy spirit of god which is the seal unto the day of redemption so to start and this is going to be probably the strangest pentecost lesson you have ever heard in your life which you've come to expect

of me right so focus on the events of the res the crucifixion you can't just start at pentecost and and start explaining this you got to go to the cross because it was at calvary that everything everything everything about our salvation came to the apex or the pinnacle you focus on the events of the crucifixion there was a dynamic interchange between jesus and two thieves on either side of him and he said to the one this day you're going to be with me in paradise you focus on jesus and the interchange between him and the crowd the crowds crying crucify him and he's saying father forgive them for they don't know what they're doing you focus on the interchange between jesus and the roman soldiers they're gambling for his garments and jesus is looking at them and finally one of them looks at him and

said surely this is the son of god the interchange between jesus and his family and the only disciple that's standing at the foot of the cross john and he looks at him and he says look this is your mother now and and behold your son and this interchange between jesus and his family and his disciples jesus and the temple the bible says that the veil was rent in twain there was a shaking in the temple when jesus finally gave up the ghost there was the interchange between the flesh and the spirit as he spoke to him and he cries out and says in his flesh my god my god why hast thou forsaken me the interchange between nature and humanity as the skies grew dark and the lightning flesh and the thunder begins to roll and then the earth begins to quake under their feet

and you know that there's something going on here that is of a supernatural origin this is not just another crucifixion like other crucifixions may have been there that veil as i'm sure as those who around the temple observed this there was a veil that was thick that was ripped from the top to the bottom no man could pull this apart horses couldn't pull this veil apart and everything before with this veil was about keeping you out it was about prohibition it was about denying you access even the priests when they went in behind the veil they had to take off their shoes signifying just as it did in moses day that this ground does not belong to you this is holy ground and so the veil was there to seal out and deny access but when that veil was ripped when the flesh of jesus

christ cried out it is finished and the veil was ripped it gave all of us access to something that we were prohibited from in times past he dies on calvary's cross he goes into a cave at a tomb a borrowed tomb and then on the third day i will not get into all of this but you can figure out when jesus was crucified because the disciples on the road to emmaus says this is the third day since those things took place but on that morning of the third day an inauspicious morning in a garden that would have been very very quiet the first day of the week and you see two women as they're making their way to the tomb don't know what they expected but what they got i'm certain was not what they expected to see because in that quiet morning that quiet

sunday morning the first day of the week that when they came to this tomb the bible says there was a broken seal a broken seal signifies the resurrection which in turn means that the covenant that was made with death and seal put upon that tomb that covenant with death is now broken jesus came out with the keys of death and hell in his hands the covenant that we had in adam with death death was passed upon all of the us and the bible says when they got to the tomb that seal of death that they observed had been broken there was an earthquake a stone had been rolled away and there was an angel sitting on that stone telling them a message a roman guard with their reports of lies that walked away from there listen the roman legionnaires would have been burned alive in

their garments if what they said was true they didn't just fall asleep and the disciples steal the body out of the tomb it didn't happen that way it would have cost them their lives so we know that was a lie but the angel says what happened he said to the to mary he is not here he's not here he was here but he's not here anymore where'd he go he's going to find you where you are if you will seek him don't build a shrine here to where he was listen a lot of religion has built a shrine to where the spirit used to be what used to happen what used to take place in our services but thanks be to god i say it again i am apostolic in my belief i am pentecostal in my experience the spirit of god has not departed

we have sought him and we find him in our services there is still a moving of the spirit of god don't build a shrine don't worship at a shrine where he used to be worship where he is today because he lives he lives peter and john came to the tomb after they got the message by mary that he was not there luke 24 verse 12 says this then arose peter ran to the sepulcher and stooping down he beheld the linen clothes laid by themselves and departed wondering in himself what in the world i can't figure it out i can't explain it i don't even know if i believe it peter came to the tomb with john and he didn't know what had happened look at the the focus on john now john 20 and verse 8 then when in that also that other disciple which

came first to the sepulcher and he saw and believed john got the interpretation right he looked in and he began to remember the things that jesus had said about his resurrection this entire drama being played out served to emphasize a lot of disappointment and failure the loss of hope the loss of faith and confusion that's what took place among the disciples they were confused they didn't believe they were fearful and they were scattered everything that jesus listen you would think that if jesus is your pastor for three and a half years you would kind of have a little more faith than what they had after you've seen people raise brother fred back to life from the dead you've seen blinded eyes open and deaf ears unstopped you would think that they would have believed that jesus could do anything that he said he could do

and yet here they were hiding in closed doors everything that jesus had come to build into his disciples seemed to just dissipate like the morning fog or the morning dew but there was a phenomenon that was taking place on that sunday that i'm going to take a step back in time and go back to the time of joseph to explain what happened here because the disciples didn't believe you can you can think what you want but they no longer believe their faith was on the floor their confidence was gone everything was shattered as far as they were concerned remember the story of joseph you all are familiar with that i'm not going to retell the same old story his name zaphnath paania in in the egyptian language means the one who is known as he who lives he who lives joseph's life for the first

30 years practically was about his descent it seemed like all the time he was going down his brothers put him in a pit then he was sold into egyptian slavery by the midianites and and then after he got into egyptian slavery he was thrown into a prison his life was it just kept going down and down and down but in order he said the reason that he was there was that he might save them he said you meant it for evil but god meant it for good we look on the spectacle of calvary and say what an evil day that was in the history of mankind but god looks at it and says that's the most beautiful thing that i have ever done for humanity he was sent to not to save himself but to save them but in order to save them get this

he had to become like an egyptian he wasn't an egyptian but he took on the appearance the form of an egyptian hebrews chapter 2 verses 14 and 15. for as much then as a children are partakers of flesh and blood what did he do he also himself took like likewise took part of the same why that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death that is the devil he wasn't us he became like us in order to save us from the snares of the devil he further descended joseph further descended into the prison listen he did not go into prison because he was an evildoer it wasn't because he did anything wrong that he went into prison but he became like an evil doer so that he could take the keys of the prison when he came out in second corinthians

chapter 5 21 for he hath made him he wasn't sin he came in the likeness of sinful flesh but he made him to be sin for us who knew no sin that we might be made the righteousness of god in him joseph's descent was for a purpose he had to go down so that when he arose he would come up with power so when he came out of the prison he was on an upward trajectory now that wouldn't stop until he becomes the power of egypt he would sit next to the pharaoh of egypt and rule as second in command and all the power of this kingdom was now at the disposal of joseph what did jesus say when he came out he said all power all power is given unto me in heaven and in earth i've conquered every realm on my descent they

thought i was down for the last time but when he came up my brothers and my sisters he came up with power that he has never relinquished to anyone 12 or 13 years had elapsed since his brothers had seen him you follow me now this is a phenomenon i want to talk about he recognized them but they didn't recognize him okay i think i i went to school like a hundred years ago but but i've run into classmates brother wilford that i used to go to school with i recognized him after 50 years joseph his brothers didn't recognize him after 12 or 13 years and they've grown up with a guy to me to me that's a head scratcher his brothers didn't recognize him but he knew them the the likeness of becoming so much an egyptian he spoke in the egyptian language to them

he was harsh with them it was they were not they were not expecting what they were seeing here because the last time they saw joseph he was going down brother and now they can't imagine that this guy sitting on the throne would would even remotely connected to being a relative to them but joseph i got to hurry here but in jewish this is widely known in jewish circles in in among the hebrews there was a reason why joseph put everybody out of the room he didn't want any egyptians in the room he put them all out so now the only thing he's left with in the room are his brothers and he can tell them all day i've got a name i've got a name they're scared to death they don't believe jo that this is joseph but what joseph has in his body is

a covenant seal that only the family partakes of remember back in abraham's day when god made a covenant with him he said circumcise all the males in your house isaac became the son of promise and only the family of abraham had this seal this mark in their body this wasn't a revelation for the egyptians he didn't want them to know who he was but he wanted his family to know beyond the shadow of a doubt who he was and he could prove that to them by the marks that he bore in his body they were a seal so he puts out all the egyptians and he tells his brothers come close i want to show you something i want to show you the marks that i've got that you've got you follow me joseph not only had a name but he had infallible proof that

he was who he said he was hmm it was a sign in a seal that only the family would understand and recognize jesus appeared to his family after the resurrection they didn't recognize him i call it the superman syndrome how many of you familiar with superman the the the weirdness about the superman story is that all clark kent has to do is take off his glasses and suddenly lois lane jimmy olsen perry white none of them recognized this guy anymore i thought if that works i'm going to go rob a bank i'm just going to take off my glasses and walk in nobody's going to recognize me right superman could do it how does that work that the people closest to him all he's got to do is take off his glasses and nobody knows who he is well these people had been with jesus

for three and a half years it was only three days ago that he got crucified and he appears to them and and and mary says sir can you tell me where they've taken him she perceived that he was a gardener this was one of the closest women to jesus had ever lived and she didn't recognize him when he got resurrected and then he appears to the disciples on the road to emmaus now emmaus is seven seven miles from jerusalem that's a hard walk you know especially in today's time but these guys walked up to emmaus and they came back to jerusalem where the eleven were and they walked with jesus all this time they knew who jesus was and yet they didn't recognize him how are they going to know him he reaches for the bread and they say what are those wounds in your

hands there oh wait and he blessed the bread and their eyes were opened so these guys get so excited they run back to jerusalem to where the 11 are and they say to them hey we just saw jesus and they go he was crucified three days ago he died and so he appears to them in the midst of them behind closed doors and they're still scratching their heads going i don't know who he is who are you they were scared eight days later thomas shows up right what did jesus do to in each example to prove luke says that by many infallible proofs there were some indisputable marks in the body of jesus christ he didn't have to just tell them who he was there was a seal of the covenant in his body and all he had to do thomas come on man i'm

gonna i'm gonna take this robe down and i'm going to show you and you can put your hand in my side see for yourself that i not only am giving you a name but i'm giving you indisputable proof of that i am who i say i am by the seal by this covenant in my body go ahead and test me and you will see that i am who i say i am and mark 16 11 says and they when they heard that he was alive and had been seen of her they didn't believe they believed not in john 20 and 20. and when he had said so said he showed unto them his hands and his side then were the disciples glad then they get all happy because hey he was dead we saw him crucified but he is now alive and we know it's

him because he's got nail prints in his hands and his feet and he's got a spear thrust in his side we know that it is him let me just hurry on to the the just before the millennial kingdom when when jesus stands on mount zion with 144 000 jews and he they have his name in their foreheads how are they going to know him he told them back in israeli prophecy he said i've graven you on the palms of my hands and in zechariah chapter 12 and verse 10 it says i'm going to pour on the house of david upon the inhabitants of jerusalem the spirit of grace and of supplications and they shall look on me whom they have pierced they're going to know him because he's going to show them the wounds that he received at their hands we used to sing an

old song that says i shall know him when redeemed by his side i shall stand i shall know him how by the prince of the nails in his hands but before that day jesus gave us a sign and a seal i wouldn't recognize jesus if he walked through those doors right now and neither would you but he gave me something on the inside that is a sign and a seal that i can recognize anywhere i might be i can be sitting in my recliner chair at home and i recognize jesus i recognize the presence that comes in why because he's put something he seals something on the inside of me in my spirit so jesus is preparing them what's this for 40 days jesus who had ministered publicly for three and a half years this 40 days you can read it for yourself he had

no public ministry during those 40 days he didn't heal anybody he didn't deliver anybody he didn't do he didn't open blind eyes he didn't do any of that stuff he had put everybody out of the room because he wanted to talk to the family he wanted to prepare the family for what was to come next you see the family had been shattered by all of this there was that so he wasn't looking to do a public ministry he's rebuilding broken faith he's trying to build up their confidence again they were still talking kingdom talk and he's about to show them the kingdom he's about to give them the kingdom and so he in in these 40 days he's reassuring them it's going to happen just like i told you it would i was crucified and i came back just like i said i would now

do you believe that if you can believe that you can believe what's next you can believe the promise that i'm about to give to you in luke chapter 24 and verse 49 what does he say and behold i send the promise of my father upon you listen he had told them before i'm going away but i'm coming back this is why i like to say holy ghost instead of holy spirit semantics but a ghost kind of implies it's the spirit of somebody who was here departed and came back that's what he did that same comforter that same one that went away he said i'm going to come back to you behold i send the promise of my father upon you but what you have to do is tarry in the city of jerusalem until you be endued with power everybody say power there's a whole

theology out there that believes that all these disciples were saved before pentecost if they were saved they were powerless jesus said you can't do anything without me if they were saved they had no power it wasn't just power to witness it was the power to do to have apostolic authority it still is in the church i'm going to read some things after a while but listen the apostolic authority is still in the church and it doesn't reside in rome on a cathedral it's not sitting on a chair in rome that is not apostolic power the thing that the promise gave to us was the apostolic power coming to live in the individual person you have a rare opportunity i have a rare opportunity today i have this promise that lives within me so after 40 days they watch him as he rises up and the

angel says why are you standing here there's 10 more days that's got to take place now 10 10 40 is the number of of probation and and preparation like moses and the children of israel they wandered around for 40 years then they were prepared to go into the promise 10 is the number of completion still with me i don't see any eyes rolling back in your head yet 10 is the number of completion that's how many cities they conquered when they got into the land of promise and when they completed those 10 days 10 cities conquering them they were at rest this is the rest wherein he saith he calls it the weary to find rest so 40 days of preparation 10 days of perseverance and and this would complete what this would complete 50 days oh wait 50 is pentecost 50 is the day

of pentecost it completes a cycle from the feast of the first fruits to the time of the wheat harvest i don't even have to guess about what the wheat harvest is because jesus made it on this basis he compared it to himself he said except a kernel of wheat fall into the ground everybody with me he was talking about himself he said if a kernel of wheat doesn't fall into the ground and die it won't produce anything but if it falls into the ground and dies he was talking of himself he said it will produce what wheat doesn't produce barley it produces wheat pentecost was the end of the wheat harvest and so this giving of the holy ghost on the day of pentecost was not an accident at all it was a promise that was given to them he said just go wait until

you are given the promise of the father that i'm going to send to you that was the giving of the holy ghost this sign this seal came with a sign we not only have the name and we do have the name right what's his name we we pride ourselves in this fact that we we are people of the name we we know that we have the name but can i tell you there was more to it than just this name he wants us to know him who he is and he wants to reveal himself to us in this way ephesians chapter 3 verses 14 and 15 says this for this cause i bow my knees unto the father of our lord jesus christ of whom the whole family of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named we have the sign which is

a seal listen people at walmart don't understand this if you go down the aisles at walmart and start speaking in tongues they're going to call for the police they don't understand it right it's not given to them to understand that's why when it came down to it there were only 120 that were gathered in that upper room and he was giving them a revelation that hey the ones on the outside are not going to understand this until they get a glimpse of what you've got don't ever listen don't try to explain to others you know this experience until they are willing to receive it they're not part of the family i can act as crazy as i want to in here worshiping god that's part of my apostolic heritage i used to appreciate brother brother becton brother beckton no matter where brother beckton was he

was a worshiper he'd be on a platform and general conference of rolling on the platform just rolling around and you know on the platform it didn't matter to him that is my apostolic heritage i they used to call us holy rulers they don't have any grounds for that anymore what are you saying i'm saying there are times when we put everybody else out except for the family there's times when god moves just for the family he just comes in and begins to shake things up and give revelations of himself just to the family listen if you're here today and you have not experienced this there is an invitation to you to come and taste and see that the lord is good if you haven't been baptized if you haven't repented if you haven't been baptized in jesus name if you haven't received the gift of

the holy ghost you are not going to understand what we do here but it's for the family to us it is a sign and a seal that exists only within the family of faith that cashier at walmart doesn't talk in tongues like you do won't understand it but we do and we understand romans 8 9 says but ye are we you are not in the flesh but in the spirit if so be that the spirit of god dwell in you now if any man have not the spirit of christ what he's none of his everybody goes to heaven brother cardin sorry nevertheless the foundation of god stands sure having this seal the lord knows them that are his every grave in the graveyard is not going to burst open everything that calls itself christian is not going up in the rapture sorry don't go quiet

on me now we are apostolic right we believe that in repentance baptism in jesus name and you must have the gift of the holy ghost that is the rocket fuel that's going to get you out of this world in the rapture if you don't have him in your life he doesn't recognize you you need the gift of the holy ghost because only those who are christ the dead in christ shall rise first and we who are identified with him by his spirit are going to go after them in the resurrection this pentecostal experience comes with a seal that's a sign what is it how long has it been since you've allowed the spirit to exhibit and express the sign in your life they all spoke with tongues acts 2 4 and they were all filled with the holy ghost and began to speak with other

tongues as the spirit gave them utterance acts chapter 8 a perceivable sign by the samaritans acts chapter 10 they heard them speak with tongues acts chapter 19 they spake with tongues and prophesied i know it's been buried over by a lot of ecclesiastical history but in the 4th century no less than augustine wrote this and we still do what the apostles did when they laid hands on the samaritans and called down the holy spirit on them by the laying on of hands it is expected that converts should speak with new tongues in the 18th century i could go on through history let me jump to the 18th century john wesley said this to a man who was saying that nobody exercises that gift nobody speaks with tongues anymore wesley said sir your memory fails you again it has been heard more than once no further

off than the valleys of dauphany they were still speaking in tongues as the holy ghost came into their lives it was a sign that came with the seal of the quakers and they spoke with tongues i can go back and talk to you about the methodists who used to be prostrate on the floor speaking with other tongues as the spirit of god gave them the utterance of but let me bring it home to us topeka kansas in 1900 azusa street let me bring in a little closer 11th in hickory in the early 30s brother spa 11th in the 13th in gravoy how many of you got the holy ghost at 13th and gravois 901 barracks few road i'm telling you that it has not stopped the same holy ghost that the apostles received in the upper room the disciples received in the upper room it

is still giving us that same sign and that same seal today let's stand together therefore we are buried with him by baptism romans 6 4 and 5 we are buried with him by baptism into death that like as christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the father even so we also should walk in newness of life listen to this for if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death we shall also be and the word likeness is not there it should be we shall also be of his resurrection how am i going to get out of this world well first of all nobody gets out alive except through the rapture how am i going to get out in the rapture it's by the spirit that's in me he knows who i am brother ever he's coming back for

us and he's going to know each one of us by name as he calls us out of this world why because we have the marks as paul said we have the marks in our body i could extrapolate from this but your body is what the temple of what the holy ghost paul said i've got the marks in the body i've been baptized in jesus name i've i've repented of my sins i've been filled with the holy spirit of promise sealed unto the day of redemption i'm going up in the first resurrection because of the spirit of god let's just thank him together hallelujah we thank you lord we thank you lord thank you lord hallelujah god bless you for your faithfulness your attentiveness
