Summary
Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.
A Need in the Room
- The speaker opens by declaring that Jesus, whose name is above every name, is in the room, and invites everyone who has a need to raise a hand.
- He leads the congregation to thank God in advance for what he is going to do in the service, since there is nothing too hard for him.
- He honors the graduates Justin and Ella and their leadership, joking with the church about something Pastor Brad DeLong had said of him.
The Text: Peter, John, and the Man at the Beautiful Gate
- The speaker reads the text: Peter and John go up to the temple at the hour of prayer, and a man lame from birth is being carried to the gate called Beautiful, where he is laid daily to ask alms.
- Peter directs his gaze at the man and tells him to look at them; the man fixes his attention on them, expecting to receive something.
- Peter says he has no silver and no gold, but what he does have he gives: "In the name of Jesus Christ, rise up and walk."
- Peter takes him by the right hand and raises him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones are made strong; he enters the temple walking, leaping, and praising God, and all the people are filled with wonder and amazement.
Scriptures: Acts 3
A Saturday at Aldi: The Embarrassment of Not Having Enough
- The speaker lingers over what Saturdays feel like — rest, errands, family outings — and urges the graduates never to forget Sabbath, since God himself practiced rest.
- He tells of a Saturday sixteen years earlier when he and his sister piled a shopping cart high at Aldi while their mother bought the family's groceries.
- When the cashier totaled the cart at $157.92, his mother's card was declined — and declined again — in front of the long line, and the family sheepishly walked out, leaving the groceries behind.
- The lesson he draws from that day: make sure you have enough to meet the need, so that when the opportunity to meet it is presented, you have exactly what is needed.
What Do You Have?
- The speaker poses the sermon's question to the graduates: after all your education, learning, and experience, do you have enough to meet the need?
- Moses was educated in all the wisdom of the Egyptians and powerful in speech and action, yet felt inadequate because he stuttered; God still asked him the direct question of Exodus 4:2: "What is it that you have in your hand?"
- Elisha asked the prophet's widow, who faced losing her house over debt she could not pay, the same kind of question: "Tell me, what do you have in your house?"
- Jesus pointed his disciples to the poor widow who put two small copper coins into the offering: out of her poverty she gave everything she had, more than all who contributed out of their abundance.
- When the disciples wanted to send the hungry five thousand away, Jesus told them, "You give them something to eat" — and from five loaves and two fish he fed the crowd.
- From Moses to the prophet's wife to the poor widow to the disciples, the testimony is the same: when you give God what you have, he is able to supersede what you need; with just a little, God can do a whole lot.
Scriptures: Exodus 4:2
What God Has Already Given His Disciples
- God has given his disciples adequate elements to meet the moment whenever a need is presented to them.
- In the middle of economic struggle under Roman power, Jesus told them in John 14:27, "My peace I give to you."
- In a society that commanded an eye for an eye, he gave them a new commandment: love your neighbor as yourself.
- In the spiritual battle he gave them authority over the enemy (Luke 10:19), power to be witnesses and to make disciples, and — as Paul told Timothy — a spirit of love, power, and a sound mind.
- Peter and John still carried the residue of the Pentecostal experience of the upper room, where God had filled them with his Spirit.
Scriptures: John 14:27; Luke 10:19
You Can't Give What You Don't Have
- The man at the gate came every day to the same place, asking the same people for the same thing; so close to the temple where God supposedly dwelt, he still never received what he actually needed — to walk, to work, to provide, and to enter in.
- Those who passed by could only give him what they had, and he had asked for silver and gold; but Peter and John paused, looked beyond his physical need, and gave him what they had.
- Peter did not pray and leave — he prayed and stayed, took the man by the hand, and lifted him up, and the man's weak ankles grew strong immediately before the watching crowd.
- The graduates are told they may not have tons of money or resources, but what they have is more than enough: the gift of God's Spirit, power over the enemy, his word that stands the test of time, authority that makes devils quake, unspeakable joy in calamity, and his name.
- But the principle cuts both ways: you cannot give peace if you are not living in it, cannot make disciples if you are not a disciple yourself, and cannot drive out demons if you are not close to Jesus.
- Acts 19:11 shows what Paul had: God was doing extraordinary miracles by his hands, so that even handkerchiefs or aprons that had touched his skin were carried to the sick, and their diseases left them and the evil spirits came out.
- The seven sons of Sceva tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus as the one "who Paul proclaims," without a relationship with him; the evil spirit answered, "Jesus I know, and Paul I recognize, but who are you?" and the man leaped on them, so that they fled out of the house naked and wounded.
- The speaker has Justin and Ella act out the scene at the gate with him — the graduates playing Peter and John, the speaker playing the lame man — so the congregation pictures the man leaping, dancing, and praising God in the house of the Lord.
Scriptures: Acts 19:11
How Do We Get What They Had?
- First, frequently go where Peter and John were headed: keep coming to the house of God, where the depleted can receive from a body of believers what they cannot get by themselves.
- Second, go where they had been: an upper room, a place of prayer, seeking after and experiencing the gift of the Holy Ghost.
- Education is valuable and necessary — Aristotle wrote that the roots of education are bitter but the fruit is sweet — yet education alone will never be enough, and the kingdom of God has only one graduation ceremony still to come, at the trumpet's call.
- In Acts 4:13, the contemporaries of Peter and John saw their boldness and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, yet they recognized the one thing about them: they had been with Jesus.
- The place of prayer is the reservoir where God fills his people so he can pour them out, as he did with the figures of scripture — Abraham, Moses, Elijah, Hannah, David, Peter, Paul, and many more — who spent time with him.
- In Mark 9:14 and its following account, the disciples could not drive out the spirit that threw a father's son into convulsions, though they tried to mimic what Jesus did; Jesus rebuked the spirit, took the boy by the hand, and explained, "This kind cannot be driven out by anything but prayer."
- If the church ceases to be a church of prayer in these last days, it will not have what the world needs; the difference is made on our knees and on our face before the Lord.
Scriptures: Acts 4:13; Mark 9:14
Putting It into Practice: Prayer for Every Need
- The speaker calls Justin and Ella forward and invites everyone with a need to come to the front, so the graduates can put the sermon into practice by laying hands on people and praying for them.
- He asks the whole church to stretch out their hands and pray in faith — believing for healing, strength, restoration, repentance, and for someone to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
- A prophetic word is spoken over the congregation during the ministry: God is here and near, he has seen every hand and heard every cry of the heart, his love will never fail, he is in control, and his people already have what they need.
- The speaker tells the guests that they have experienced what First Corinthians calls one of the gifts of the Spirit, and that what God has spoken is for them as well.
- The service closes in thanksgiving and worship: "We thank you, Lord — we have him, and we have his word."

more time you have a knee raise it high okay acts chapter three and verse number one thank you so much for letting me come i love this church i love your leadership i love the ministry here and i'm just so grateful to being invited acts chapter chapter three verse number one now peter and john were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer the ninth hour and a lame man from birth was being carried whom they lay daily at the gate of the temple that is called the beautiful gate to ask alms of those entering the temple seeing peter and john about to go into the temple he asked to receive alms and peter directed his gaze at him and said i want you to look over here look at me look at us and the man did he fix his attention on
them expecting to receive something from them but peter said i i have no silver and i have no gold but what i do have i give to you in the name of jesus christ rise up and walk and he took him by the right hand and raised him up and immediately everybody say immediately his feet and ankle bones were made strong and leaping up he stood and began to walk and entered the temple with him walking and leaping and praising god and all the people saw him walking all the people saw him walking and praising god and recognized him as one who sat at the beautiful gate of the temple asking for ours and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what happened to him yesterday was saturday saturday in any season of the year have their typical smells of laundry soap as we
attempt to tackle the mystery of the missing socks can i get a witness there are there are some adventurous souls that wake before the rooster crows to walk run or bike on their trail or gym of choice saturdays for some are the awaited joy of slumber and sleep as you are desperate to win back for you have most lost of it you most lost of it most of it dragging yourself out of bed to the bus and onward to school that day after friday is enticing because work for the work week the work week is now over and that good book you've been wanting to read no longer gets neglected collecting dust on the shelf but now has plenty of time to have your attention if saturdays had a taste i'd imagine it would taste like everyone's favorite meal but because i don't know everyone's
favorite meal in the room i can assume that saturday's tastes like freedom or fried chicken one or the other freedom to the rest freedom to joy freedom to as one poet and apostolic wrote to live and move and have our being saturdays fill themselves with conferences banquets weddings receptions conferences camps and retreats the family van fills itself with sports games and the television i'm sure gets exhausted from the continual flipping from one show one episode one football game to the next it's the hustle and bustle of some saturdays that don't feel so restful which is why we indeed need to find our sabbath day as the lord found his on the seventh day graduate you've been busy and and i i assume that you're tired but i want you to never forget sabbath if god could practice rest on sabbath certainly now that the excuse
for late-night munchies eyes glazed over by the blank screen attempting to write a paper that was due by midnight and you started at 11 30. please please don't forget sabbath i don't mean to pry but i just added that for flavor to give you a glimpse of what one saturday at albright discount felt like because that saturday 16 years ago we packed into the maroon four-door mazda miata and zoomed our way to aldi to fill the shopping cart full of goodies we did the typical childlike thing my sister and i we requested we throw everything in the cart from cereals to ho ho's to chips to famous amos cookies and donuts all of the nutrition a young lad and his sister would need while their mother packed the leafy lettuce and the cans of green beans and the collard greens the intolerable carrots and the
not so famous spinach as popeye would show his arm and stare us down claiming that they were good and can make us stronger we we piled sky high our shopping cart like a bear in winter preparing for the scrumptious meals for the next two weeks it was a saturday just like yesterday which meant everyone had the same idea they were filling their saturday with a lot of to-do's and on top of most americans priority is to shop until you drop to prepare for the next week so the cashier in line was uh with was had long cards just as full as ours you know i'm talking about that card in front of you is just as high as yours and while meandering through the line we fell into the trap of gazing at every candy bar and snack item knowing by faith we would carry
a reese's buttercup home everything everything at eye level on purpose for children to look as that captured our attention in our hunger and with every request our mother would respond with the resounding no we did not come here for candy don't touch that stop it touch it again see what happened and we waited we waited and we waited we waited if you've been to aldi before you know that you're waiting you're waiting if you've been to schnook so save a lot you've been waiting in this line and finally we hear the beep beep as the cashier began to tally up our sky-high shopping cart full of a few things mama we casually threw in as well so when she wasn't looking we threw some things in the shopping cart she didn't know and as is typical after the last item the caster tells the buyer
you guys know this you've experienced this how much it's going to cost the price of food has indeed gone up since then thank god for inflation the price of food has indeed gone up since then and you you've sat in line for what seems like an eternity and now you prepare your heart your mind your soul your body to hear the damage it's going to give to your bank account if you're like most when you walk in the grocery store you have a fixed number to it that you wish to stay in if you have a budget of some sort and you have a heightened awareness of what you have left in your bank account this i knew my mother had in mind and so when the cashier said these words it sounded loud that will be 157.92 please the cashier is expecting you to
have the necessary funds to match the items you put in your cart and they are not timid and telling you so that you can hear clearly how much you owe and i watched my mother briefly pause and then shuffle through her purse to grab the debit card she takes it out of her purse and proceeds to swipe the plastic into the machine and you could hear a pin drop after the caster utters these words sorry ma'am but that card is declined and the usual response in my experience is follow with these words are you sure let me grab another piece of plastic to the which you swipe and the repeated experience is louder than the first as the cashier announces as the words thunder throughout the entire store because if you've been there before you could say it a little bit softer and she says
i'm sorry ma'am but your card is declined we are in front of that long line with not enough to pay for what we have placed in our cart it was embarrassing and it was humiliating we could feel the eyes around us stinking like daggers and the rejection we endured was hard to brush off you've probably been there before and as i tell the story i can feel it now as my mother at first began to try to take things out of the cart to match what she thought she had in the account i mean not to embarrass her for most of us have experienced what it's like not to have enough in our current society with inflation on the rise more people will come face to face with uncertainty in the reality of not having enough you see what we had what she had in
her bank account was simply not enough to fit the bill required when we filled her car we knew that a moment would require a certain amount to be given our sad and uncomfortable ending ended as we sheepishly walked out of aldi's busy store where most people trafficked on a saturday now if you've been there before a quarter less rich as it remains slotted inside the cart was the small price and reminder and lesson i hope to share with you today by way of two unlikely heroes the concept of making making sure you have enough to meet the needs so when the opportunity to meet that need is presented to you you have exactly what you need inside the living breathing powerful sacred text we call the word of god we notice a certain curiosity in questioning similar to our cashier at aldi on that saturday
graduates moms dads uncles nephews friends teenagers and teenagers i posed the question after all your education after all the learning that you have after all your experienced teenagers do you have enough to meet the need do you have enough to meet the need moses born into a period of genocide and slaughter was educated like you and all wisdom of the egyptians and was powerful in speech in action he had the background of prestige and power yet he he thought he had an eternal fall that excused him from heeding the call of god he felt inadequate he he felt small felt not enough because he stuttered when he spoke and he did not have the influence he did not have the charisma that he believed others had naturally but god still asked him a direct question in exodus chapter four and verse two what is it
that you have in your hand a prophet's wife now a widow meets elisha with a desperate need the house her and her children are living in is about to foreclose and the credit company plans to evict them within a few weeks or months they will kick her out if the debt is not paid she cries out to elisha a fellow prophet maybe even friends with her husband and begs for help and elisha very directly knowing her situation and that she does not have much that's why he's asking that's why she's asking for help has the audacity to ask this question tell me what you have in your house a woman that shall go unnamed but be forever remembered crashes catches the eye of jesus as the offering plate makes its way down the aisle in a church service just like this as the rich and
wealthy make the offering plate heavy with their giving jesus is alerted by a poor widow that came in and put in two small copper coins which make a penny he does not speak openly but motions as as he shares the feedback he's getting from facebook with his disciples to come and experience that he's what he's experiencing and says or comments in the comment box this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the offering box for they all contributed out of their abundance but she out of her poverty has given everything that she had all she had to live on again the acquisitive mind of our savior highlights this questioning what is it that you have to give do you have something of substance to meet the need raise your hand if you ever need in this room you raised
it before look around keep it up do you have what it takes to meet that need his disciples experienced their rabbi questioning them when a hungry five thousand hangry tummies grumbled on a mountain side as jesus had taught long and hard and it was getting late the disciples wanted nothing more than to get some shut eye and retreat for the evening sending the crowd away hungry telling them to go and get something to eat at their long john silver's nail buyer but jesus told them no you give them something to eat and their response is we only have here only five loaves of bread and two fishes all we have is a lunchable with fried fish and garlic toasted bread and he said bring them here to me and jesus would indeed meet the 5 000 or more tummies and souls that day from moses
to the prophet's wife to the poor widow and even the disciples it's clear that when you give to god what you have he is able to supersede what you need scripture is a testimony that when we have just a little god can do a whole lot i find hope in knowing that what little i have god can work with this black young man from kansas city abused and broken at a young age god can use what little i have but what i have because what i have he's already provided there is a confidence a blessed assurance that what i have in my hand in my house in my wallet god can multiply on my journey if we are honest with ourselves we can firmly proclaim that god has given us so much he has given us a freedom of religion in this country family music
healthcare hot cheetos indoor plumbing thank god fuzzy socks deodorant and toothpaste i brushed mine this morning bacon we fight or we feed challenges or choices and so much more of the natural elements he has fused together for us to continue to live and move and have our being he has given us much to his past and present disciples he told them and he gave them adequate elements to meet the moment when a need was presented to them he told them in the middle of their ancient economic struggle and in the middle of the dynamic power of roman culture he said in john 14 27 my peace i give to you in a society filled with hate commanding to give an eye for an eye he gave them a new commandment to love neighbor as their self in a spiritual battle over death overcoming the obstacles
of life he gave them authority over the enemy luke chapter 10 verse 19 before they would undergo the persecution by society he gave them to be to have power to be witnesses and disciples making more disciples paul told timothy that god has given us a spirit of love and power of a sound mind these elements gifted by god was made abundantly clear in our story of the lame man leaping john gazing and peter proclaiming the name of jesus a name that was given for our church this church for salvation peter and john the disciples of that jesus with the fresh look of the spirit still had the residue of the pentecostal experience in the upper room where god filled them both with his spirit we celebrate this soon next week on saturday let's just call it a saturday both disciples had prior plans to go
to their church at 3 p.m on a highly traffic gate everyone considered beautiful everyone on their way everyone filling their day or not and when they arrived a man whose parents never knew the joy of watching their child take their first step the man who never felt the thrill of walking in the park on a saturday was being carried to his usual spot to beg for money he needed people to take him from one place to the other how degrading and cumbersome to have to continually mask his friends to give him a ride just to go down to the supermarket he he required the assistance from friends and family to get him from one place to the next the lame man probably felt like he was a burden for those close to him i'm sure it weighed on him heavily to ask for a ride
to church he could never fully enter i imagine the embarrassment it must have taken to continually ask others for help because he could not help himself he had a need i'm sure he said at the gate for this was his main source of income that was that was as inconsistent as missouri's weather perhaps if he did not beg he did not eat we know nothing of the lame man's family but maybe just just maybe this was more than begging but an occupation to provide for his family he came every day every day asking for the same thing from the same people in the same church he came every saturday begging for the same thing from the same people and the same church he got placed near the people of god requesting the same thing at the same location he found himself laying there with arms
stretched out reaching and wanting at the same place from the same people at the same temple how frustrating it must have been for this lame man to be so close to the temple with the people of god where god supposedly dwelt and never received what he actually needed he needed to walk and if he could walk he could work and if he could work then he could provide and if he could provide he could make his way inside the temple not just outside its borders but inside where he might happen to feel the presence of the lord but those coming and going could only give him what they had for what they had he asked for he asked for silver and gold but today today peter and john came with the residue of heaven residing inside john and peter were just about to enter the
gate when the lame man still yet to be dropped off from the minivan was being carried to his usual place to beg he sees peter and john there's nothing special about these two individuals at all but began his usual spiel for money he had the cardboard box on the highway saying this is what i need he expected to receive something from them the lame man embodies in character our world begging to receive something anything that will relieve the pain and discomfort from the pressures and realities of life you may hear them by way of wailing voices inside our schools and outstretched in the social world as they scream for help requesting a longing for relief and desperate for answers what just happened in texas there is a need there is a need peter and john both simultaneously pause for a moment and look at him
we are unsure if john knew what peter was going to do but we could agree with peter's next statement silver and gold have i none i ain't got any money today for john may have remembered that it was jesus who trained them not to carry a money bag with them on the first discipleship mission let me pause for a minute young people and let you know that every single message that you have been given from from youth camp from youth pastor till now is very valuable you're going to see that peter and john remember what jesus says to them because he told them to not carry any money back so what peter says at first may not have come as a surprise john already knew we ain't got any money yet peter's next statement rings very close to the words he heard jesus repeat to
him jesus told his disciples i want you to heal the sick raise the dead cleanse those who have leprosy drive out demons freely you have received freely give freely you have received freely give so peter with confidence echoing the command of his rabbi and with authority he had been given and the power he received from the spirit responds what i have i give to you in the name of jesus christ rise up and walk and peter matched his words with his actions notice he did not pray and leave but he prayed and stayed and i'm sure peter was curious do the words i speak match the reality i hope to see so he took that man's hand and he lifted him up expecting to see what he said faith claims the space of both now and later it is both an immediate experience and an
expectation into the future god chose for faith to result in an immediate experience as the crowds watched with wonder in amazement as the weak ankles of the lame man grew in strength before their eyes he he took peter's hand and immediately he began leaping testifying that what peter and john had was more than enough it was not silver it was not gold but as a lame man danced and worshiped crossing the threshold and to the temple it was evidence that what the disciples had was more than enough graduates in apc you may not have tons of money you may not have resources at your disposal those are temporary things that won't last anyway but what you have is more than enough if you've been if you have the gift of god's spirit you have more than enough you have the power over the enemy his
word that stands the test of time you have the authority that makes devil's quake his spirit to overcome you have unspeakable joy in the middle of calamity you have his name that can command devils to go away you have the his perfect love that when fear desires to come in it has to leave you ought not be ashamed of what you have because of who you have and his name is and he even said all authority in heaven has been given to me what we have in this room is more than enough to meet the needs of our city more than enough to meet the needs in your family more than enough to meet the needs for your future hundreds though hundreds if not thousands of people that go to church walked by the lame man with nothing of heavenly value to give but when
peter and john members of the first church walked by what they had received in an upper room when some 120 gathered together and tongues of fire came and the wind blew all of a sudden they they had exactly what that lame man needed what they had was more enough to meet the need but here's the thing just like we learned on our trip at aldi with a shopping cart full of groceries you can't give what you don't have you can't make disciples if you're not a disciple yourself you you you can't give peace if you're not living in it you can't really embody joy when you are not filled with the spirit you can't give the love that sustains if you've never received the true love jesus provides you can't be a source god uses for healing someone who needs deliverance if that's the only
time you prayed that day we can't and we won't see signs miracles and wonders when the only time we care to see them is within these four walls the lame man was not located inside the four walls of the church do you have what your community needs you can't drive out demons if you're not close to jesus just ask paul acts 19 11 gives a grim reminder of our principle this morning you can't live in a deficiency with your walk with god and expect a demonstration of power through the spirit and god was doing extraordinary miracles by the hands of paul so that even handkerchiefs or aprons that had touched his skin were carried away to the sick and their diseases left them and the evil spirits came out of them i'd say that what paul had was more than enough then some of the
jewish preachers exorcists undertook to invoke the name of the lord jesus over those who had evil spirits saying i adore you by the name of jesus who paul proclaims they went to church just like you they they sat in the pew just like you and they wanted to use the name that they heard pastor use they wanted to use the name that they heard the leadership use they wanted to use the name that grandpa used but they did not have a relationship with him and so because of that when they begin to i adjourn you by the name of jesus this is what happened seven sons of skiva jewish high priests named skiva were doing this but the evil spirit answered them and said jesus i know and paul i recognize but who are you and the man in whom was the evil spirit leaped
on them mastered all of them and empowered them so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded these seven jewish men and the people making the trek to the temple passing the lame man could not give what they did not have they could not give to those who had demons relief or no hope to a blind man at all justin ella did you come here for a second we're gonna role play you cool with that now i understand that one is a very big extrovert and other one is an introvert possibly so i'm gonna ask you to be i'm gonna ask you to be peter okay i'm asking you to be john you really don't have anything to say like you just you just kind of go right i mean like you just kind of like you just kind of look at peter
and you go and we ain't got any money right okay you know what i'm saying so let's walk over here and so i want to be i want to play the lame man i'm going to play the lame man now i'm going to give you the mic girl and you're and you're going to give me what you have you're going to you're going gonna be peter can you do that for me you're gonna repeat and so all he says you know i'm i look i'm look i want money i want money right and then you're gonna be like look i ain't got any money but in the name of jesus christ you know we're gonna we're gonna make it happen right we're gonna make it work okay we're gonna start over here go over here and so this is the scene that we're setting up
every saturday they would walk by they walk by and this man is asking for the same thing over and over john where you at okay here we go all right all right and this this is how it went now we're gonna be outside because he can't come in here right we know this so y'all just gonna have to hear us go at it over here y'all good y'all ready envision here we go so here we go i'm walking by right i'm trying to figure it all out and you know i'm now hey can i get some money i just got here now i come here every day i come here every day and people only give me like a dollar would you believe that would you believe that i don't give me like a dollar but i need like 20 to get on the bus
i need all these things i got a lot of needs girl sorry peter's not a girl but i have a lot of needs i got a lot of needs and then you say look at us money i don't have but what i do have i'll give to you in jesus name get up and walk and the man just leaped up so quickly y'all can come y'all come back in he leaped up and i want you to know how exciting this was because i want you to picture yourself as everybody every one of you walking and seeing this man everyone knew who it was and he began leaping and dancing and praising the lord thank god i'm in the house of the lord and he began leaping and praising and dancing and i believe that someone got on the b3 hammond and began to start shouting
and we began to shout and we began to talk and everyone in the room knew and were amazed because they had walked by him every single saturday and recognized this is the man that i walked by this is the man but when i walked by i didn't have a need to give but somehow the man is walking and everyone said i know that man i know that man i walk by him but somebody walked by and thank god for peter and a john when people walked by said hey i have this they looked further behind their actual physical need and said there's something spiritual going on and i've got to meet that need right there they met the need do you have do you have do you have do you have what this world needs is it enough do you have enough i'm here to
encourage you and tell you that you do if you've been filled with this spirit you have more than enough you have more than enough to meet the need justin and ella you've been filled with this spirit you need nothing else you have everything that you need to meet the communities that you walk in every time you go to work whenever you're when you're at ocean you have everything that you need everything that you need there is nothing that is too hard for the lord he just wants a vessel and peter and john says you know what and i'm i'm i'm pretty positive they might have walked by before and given money but this time this time was just a little bit different you know what i saw jesus do this i saw jesus do this you may be seated do you have exactly enough to
meet the need raise your hand if you have a need every time we walk into this building there are needs present and we come in here because we say jesus is in this room here right now making this place we stand holy ground holy crown every single time we come there is a there is a place that we come to and in this place he has chosen his name to dwell this is the place where miracles do happen but even outside of this place it does so the question i have is how do we get what they had number one you must frequently go where they were headed they were going to church graduates in apc keep coming to church students in the youth group parents of young babies and young adults no matter how hard it gets no matter how stressful life becomes no
matter how easy it would be to skip a service here or there and just click on the tube and see online i urge you to keep coming to the house of god oh magnify the lord with me and let us exalt his name together there's something that i can't get by myself without you keep coming to the house of the lord it is a place that when you're just depleted there are a wave of apostolics in these rows and columns that can give you what you need if you're new to apc this morning you've come to the right place we know you're searching we know that you're longing we know that you have a need and on this sunday as you've come by the help of the holy ghost and in this place we offer you what we have and if we want what they
had on that day not only must we go where they had been where they were going we must go where they had been in an upper room in a prayer room seeking after and experiencing what we have here today if you've never received the gift of the holy ghost in the baptism of a spirit today is your day i said today is your day he he desires to give you what he has and what god has for you is well able to meet the situation graduates you have graduated you've graduated you've conquered the textbook memorize information to pass the taste test the taste test the test internalize countless resources diving head deep into perspective not your own and probably don't even care about when are you going to use geometry you have lost sleep cramming from one paper after another your derriere has fallen asleep
more than a few times the teacher drummed on and on about a subject you cared very little about you walked across the stage received a diploma signed by the administration that affirms that you meet all requirements and you've moved the tassel over indicating your tremendous accomplishment education is valuable education is incredible i'm a firm believer of that education is necessary aristotle a great thinker understood the price and payment of education when he wrote that the roots of education are bitter but the fruit is so sweet the fruits of your labor through education has come to this moment as we celebrate you your accomplishments and your future endeavors in the kingdom of god however the kingdom of god does not work in alignment with education for its only has one graduation ceremony and we have yet to hear the sound of commencement through trump through the
trumpet's call to god's people education is good believe me i believe in a good education but if that's all you have that will never be enough peter and john's contemporaries notice this in their ministry in acts chapter 4 verse 13 it reads now when they saw the boldness of peter and john and perceived that they were uneducated men common men they were astonished and they recognized one thing that they had been with the lord so let me encourage you today you do you do have more than enough we just have to position ourselves like peter and john to give the world what they desperately need graduates there is a place that will educate you more than any professor any teacher or any textbook it is the place where abraham moses elijah hannah peninnah jacob david solomon peter paul silas esther rachel mary and many more
frequented your name may be a character in scripture that poured out themselves something to the world for god and i'll show you i'll show you someone who spent time with god i'll show you if i i can show you a character in scripture that god used and i can tell you that there was a moment where god poured into them so they can pour out graduates the place of prayer is in the reservoir where you fill up you allow god to fill you up and then he pours you out i'll prove it through scripture the disciples took their cue from jesus and placed it inside their playbook come and see a class session where jesus would would replay in the back of each disciple's mind forever it's it's in mark chapter 9 verse 14. and this is what it reads and when they came to
the disciples just remember every single time that you've had a youth group service every single time that you come into this house every single time that scripture is given every time the word of god is given it will imprint upon you and hopefully and you can use it later on mark chapter 9 verse 14 and when they came to the disciples they saw a great crowd around them and scribes arguing with them and immediately all the crowd when they saw him were greatly amazed and ran up to him and greeted him and he asked them what are you guys arguing about what's going on and someone from the crowd answered him teacher i brought my son to you for he has a spirit that makes him mute and whenever it seizes him it throws him down and he foams and grinds his teeth and becomes
rigid and he asked him what are you arguing about with them and someone from the crowd answered the teacher sorry i must have done that again whenever it seizes him it throws him to the ground he foams at the mouth gnashing his teeth and becomes rigid i asked your disciples to drive it out but they were unable and jesus goes oh i'm believing generation how long must i remain with you how long must i put up with you bring the boy to me so they brought him and seeing jesus the spirit immediately threw the boy into convulsions and he fell to the ground and rolled around foaming at the mouth jesus asked the boy's father how long has this been with him and the boy's father said from childhood it often throws him into the fire and into the water and it tries to kill
him but but if you can do anything have compassion on us and help us and if you can jesus echoes all things are possible to him who believes and immediately the boy's father cry out i believe but please help my unbelief and when jesus saw that the crowd had come running he rebuked the unclean spirit you death and mute spirit i command you to come out and never enter him again and after streaking and convulsing him violently the spirit came out the boy became like a corpse so that many said he is dead but jesus took him by the hand and helped him to his feet and stood up and after jesus had gone into the house his disciples wanted a powwow and asked him why couldn't we do this tell me why when there was a need that was to be met you had
already given us what we thought we needed why is it that when we came here and we tried to do and mimic what you did why isn't it we could not do it and this is what he says this kind cannot be driven out by anything else nor the way it works but by prayer would you stand with me the place where they frequented the most was a place of prayer i speak to the entire congregation and i speak also specifically to justin and ella if we want to give this world what we have and it's only through the almighty it has to be done in a place that's on our knees and on our face before the lord in these last days if we cease to be a church of prayer we will not have what the world needs i can guarantee you when
they come into this place they've got to know when they come into your space they've got to know that person right there they may be educated or uneducated but one thing i know one thing i am positively sure about they have been with jesus and if you want to make a change in the world get all the degrees you can go as high in this as you want to but if you really want to make a change you really want to make a difference it will be on your knees and in prayer i wonder if where you are we can make a space in time where we can meet with the lord and we can say lord i want to reconsecrate this space and time so that way i this is where you get this is where you get the reservoir this is where he
pours into you i can tell you that i can tell when there's times and there are seasons in my life where i am i am weak and i need to go back to that space this is why jesus when he gets touched by the woman with the issue of blood he wants to know where where is it going what's happening with my energy what's going on and he wants he wants some responsibility as to know what that is but if you want to fill up in this place and where you are it is in a place of prayer where you are would you lift your hands and begin to talk to the lord and say lord i want to make a space i want to have enough to give what this world what this world is needing there is people in this room there's people
in this room that raised your hand that said you had a need you said that you had a need whatever that need is i know this is graduation service i know this is probably untypical but if you're comfortable enough i want you if you have a need to come to the front if you have a need in this room by your faith would you come to the front justin and ella would you come i want you to come to the front we're going to put this to practice you may get uncomfortable and i understand that if you have a need won't you come straight through here and make a little line right here in the front because this is what we want our students to practice that when the world has a need we can meet that need just now come up here come close
come out come on in what i'm gonna ask us to do even as a church you don't have to come but i want you to reach your hands out to them right now and i want justin and ella they're gonna begin to pray for each and every one of you because i'm i'm not just preaching fable and fiction i'm preaching that you have exactly what they need you have it god has given you the authority he has given you peace he has given you your spirit that's all that you need and when you lay hands on each one of these people right here you may not know the need but god does know the need and when you lay hands on them god is going to do a work do you believe that do you believe that they can do you believe that they have
enough would you begin to pray let's begin with how you you're the reason why no one else will do so touch us we want to see your friends let your holy spirit cause when you're here everything around us to change so we lift up our hands to your father we're in need of your presence as we call on your name blessed savior in your spirit we want you come on if you want them in this place why don't you lift up your hands and worship right now no one else let your holy spirit as we call them sing your spirit we need you so meet us with your love and meet us with your dress and let this supernatural happen in this place me we will never be me he's here right now ah oh me we want you you're the reason why no one
else will do so touch us we want you to see your face everything around us your call me we want you in this come on if you want them in this place why don't you lift up your hands and worship right now let your holy spirit for witnessing miracles happen in the room today i invite you again if you have a need and you haven't yet responded to the word of god in the presence of god or you need god to help your move in your life would you just be vulnerable and open today i just feel the holy ghost moving throughout the room today ready to touch hearts and lies would you lift your hand right now if you'd like some prayer today there's hands across the room church i'm going to ask you i know i mentioned i gave the caveat it's a
different service special service but we are an apostolic church and we're going to go and pray and move so if you have a need lift your hand again and i'm asking some saints of god to go right now and to lay hands on these individuals knowing that the power of god and the glory of god is in this room to do a miracle and a work out is already performed the miraculous here today so would you go and let god use you you've got what you need today you've got the holy ghost you've got the anointing oh i wonder if someone would go and lay hands in the name of jesus and believe for healing and believe for the miraculous he can do it today oh jesus we're believing for miracles lord not only in this building but beyond this place oh but you're here
today lord and you're moving and you're working so we're claiming the miraculous and we're claiming that there is enough power and there is enough healing oh lift your voices pray in the name would you go to prayer right now if you haven't already and if you haven't moved out out of where you are would you just stretch a hand towards someone and begin to pray a prayer of faith you've got the same faith that those disciples had in the same spirit and god can use you today in the name of jesus we pray for families today who are in need we pray for individuals who are in need of healing and strength and restoration today we're believing oh god for someone to receive the gift of the holy ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues we're believing for someone to repent of their
sins today and you're going to change your life we're believing lord god for healing just like that happened in the book of acts oh we believe in jesus thank you jesus thank you jesus thank you foreign i am here sometimes you think i am not close but i am here right now so you can draw near to me for i want to draw near to you i have seen every hand i have heard every cry of the heart today because i am your god and i love you i love you with a love that will never ever fail no matter what the need no matter what the cry no matter what the situation or the circumstance i am in control do not forget who is walking by your side right now it is not a man that can fail but it is the almighty god
that has all power in heaven and earth as my servant has preached today from my word you have what you need right now for your own need look to me for i am the one that can do all things oh you've got everything you need in the room today ah let's worship this great god oh would you think of what you handed hey thank you we don't take for granted we've got this morning we've got you today oh hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah jesus hallelujah for all our guests who have come today you've experienced what first corinthians calls one of the gifts of the spirit and what god has spoken to us today is for you as well you can have him today you can have all of him that you need this morning can we thank the lord before we move any further what we have
today oh god thank you jesus for your glory and power and presence that's here today thank you lord we don't take it for granted this morning we thank you lord we have him and we have his word
