Summary
Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.
He Is Still Worthy — and the Command to Go
- She opens with the memory of her daughter Lindsay's funeral in their own church, where the song declared that all things are from God and return to God; even in that loss she testifies that he is still worthy, whatever burden anyone carried in.
- Her text is Mark 16:15 — "Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature" — part of the great commission, a command Jesus gave his disciples and a call to action for all believers.
- To go means actively engaging the lives of others: some are called to other countries, like the missionaries she thanks God for, but most are called to reach the world right around them — family, friends, co-workers, and neighbors met almost daily.
- Someone shared the gospel with each of us, and one person reached can go on to reach many more; the man who pursued her husband in Hawaii and won him to the Lord never learned that he went to Bible college, raised a family in the church, and touched lives he never saw.
- The gospel is good news — hope in Christ through his death, burial, and resurrection — a hope that gives strength and comfort now and looks forward to eternal life with him.
Scriptures: Mark 16; Mark 16:15
Hope Beyond This Life — and Life Only a Vapor
- Paul told the Corinthians that if our hope in Christ is only for this life, we are of all men most miserable; he wrote to a church that was having difficulty believing in a bodily resurrection.
- The good news is not only for here: Jesus is coming back for his people, and in heaven there will be no more tears, death, sorrow, crying, or pain — so shall we ever be with the Lord.
- James says life is a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away; even a hundred years is nothing next to eternity, so we have only a little time to reach our world.
- Since her baby passed away, eternity is on her mind every day, moving her to ask the Lord daily to cleanse her heart and her thoughts, and to look for people she can witness to and minister to.
- She tells of sending her sister a picture of Charlie Brown telling Snoopy, "I'm not going out today — it's too peopley out there"; we may feel that way sometimes, but the fact is we are called to go out.
Scriptures: 1 Corinthians 15:19; James 4:14
Be Intentional: Seeking and Saving the Lost
- Jesus came to seek and to save that which was lost — an intentional search — so she urges hearers to make themselves available before the day starts, look for opportunities to share Jesus and their own story, and find ways to connect with others, even outside their comfort zone.
- For thirty years she has given her doctor Jesus at every visit, always answering struggles and sickness with what God did; after years of his just listening, he asked her to pray for his family, and on a later visit she got out her anointing oil and prayed for him in his office.
- Three months after she told him of Lindsay's death, he told her through tears that his own 23-year-old daughter had unexpectedly passed away, and that at the cemetery a sound like a strong wind, where no wind was blowing, reminded him of the day of Pentecost and the rushing mighty wind; she pointed him to Acts 2:38 and told him it is real and it is for him.
- A nurse who cared for her during a recent hospital stay told her, "I know you think you're here for you, but God sent you here for me"; they now text scriptures and songs back and forth while the nurse's friend, far along in pregnancy, looks for a church to attend.
- Her husband witnessed to his father for nineteen years before the father, at a VA hospital in Tucson, finally asked to know about the light he had been told of; the man in the next bed, about seventy years old, sat up and asked, "What does Jesus have for me?" — and he and his wife were baptized in Jesus' name and received the Holy Ghost.
Scriptures: Luke 19:10; Acts 2:38
Divine Appointments: Jesus and the Woman at the Well
- God sets up divine appointments, and it is our job to keep them; she reads the John 4 account at length — Jesus, wearied with his journey, sat on Jacob's well at the sixth hour and asked a woman of Samaria for a drink.
- The practical route from Judea to Galilee passed through Samaria, but many Jews took a longer, indirect way to avoid a people they despised; Jesus' journey through Samaria was not a geographical necessity but a divine appointment — he knew he was going to meet that woman at the well.
- She was of a hated, mixed race and known to be living in sin, and she came at noon, probably to avoid people who knew her reputation; yet Jesus spoke with her of living water, of worshiping the Father in spirit and in truth, and revealed himself as the Messiah.
- Divine appointments will take us out of our way and out of our comfort zones, and they will take time; but God knows exactly when we will come in contact with each person — even if it takes nineteen years.
- Weariness does not cancel the appointment: Jesus was weary and sat down to rest, and the encounter happened there; there will be divine appointments in our times of rest as well.
Scriptures: John 4
Tell Your Story: Let Me Tell You About My Jesus
- The woman left her waterpot, went into the city, and told the men, "Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did" — and they went out of the city and came to him; telling your story connects people with Jesus, and they will want to see him.
- Stories of where people received the Holy Ghost and how, and of what Jesus did for them, stir others to come and see Jesus for themselves.
- Her own testimony: she once was lost but now is found, a new creation in Christ with old things passed away, no longer walking in darkness but in his marvelous light.
- When she is grieving, her comforter comes to her; he said he would never leave her nor forsake her, and he has met every financial need she has had — he is the only one who will ever satisfy the soul.
- Grieving over Lindsay and longing to see her, she has had to answer the Lord's searching question — do you want to see me as much as you want to see her? — with yes: she started this journey with him, and at her last breath it will be her and him.
Scriptures: John 4
Messengers: Neighbors Coming to Christ
- Romans asks how they shall call on him in whom they have not believed, believe in him of whom they have not heard, and hear without a preacher — and how beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace; we are messengers, and we are all ministers of the gospel.
- Her best friend of fifty-six years, Darlene, watched their lives from childhood through trials and storms, started coming to church faithfully, and received the gift of the Holy Ghost on Pentecost Sunday last year; she now brings her niece Dustin, who received the Holy Ghost at the ladies conference.
- A neighbor two doors down, Tammy Payne, had been watching their household for quite a while — her grandfather had been an apostolic pastor — and after she came to their door one Sunday, she began coming to church.
- Next-door neighbor Ashley first heard testimony from Lindsay while Lindsay was sick and in and out of the hospital, and before passing Lindsay charged her parents, "Do not give up on Ashley"; after her husband pursued her for two months, Ashley came to church, is on fire for God, and now makes calls asking people if there is anything she can pray about.
- Her grandson came running in from the connect group meeting next door at Ashley's house, telling his grandfather not to lie down yet because they were talking about angels and wanted to hear his stories about angels.
- After she taught the ladies class on keeping divine appointments, Ashley's sister Lexi came to the house pouring out her struggles; the scripture the Holy Ghost gave Sue for her was the same scripture that had been on the screen from that morning's preaching, and after Sue walked her through the prayer of repentance, Lexi received the Holy Ghost, speaking in other tongues, right there on their couch.
- They afterward prayed through Lexi's home — over the doorposts, the windows, and every room — and prayed for the children there, and the glory of the Lord ministered to a little boy who put his hands on his head and said, "This blows my mind."
- A Muslim family living next door has become close friends — they were invited to their son's wedding and were present for Lindsay's wake — and God is working in their lives as well.
Scriptures: Romans 10:14; Romans 10:15
Go to Prayer: The Harvest Is Plenteous
- Her last point is go to prayer: the harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few — pray therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into his harvest.
- She encourages anyone who has a person God has been talking to them about to take the step and reach out, even if they think that person will not receive them or does not want to hear the gospel.
- On the night before Labor Day, the Lord woke her up at 3:00 in the morning with that word — the harvest is ready, the laborers are few, and there are some countries that have never heard the gospel — but worn out from being up all night with her sick husband, she fell back to sleep.
- The next day, as she threw a tissue into a bathroom trash can, she saw the image of a man's face shadowed on a shopping bag in a room where there was no picture of any man; the Holy Ghost came on her and the Lord spoke it again — pray for laborers — showing her that man's face and telling her to pray for him.
- God went to great lengths to reach that one man; she does not know who he is or what he will become, but God showed her his face because he loves him — and there may be someone in another country praying for you that you will never know about.
- She closes with why: why we go, why we are intentional, why we keep divine appointments, and why we wake at 3:00 in the morning interceding — because of the love of Christ — and calls everyone to make themselves available to connect others to him.

Praise God. Praise God. I love that song and those words. And from you are all things and to you are all things. I'll never forget when our family was sitting on that row right there. Lindsay was laid out right here in this casket and they sung that song and all I could think of was God gave her to me and now he's she's going back to him. But he's still worthy. Even though she's not here, he's still worthy because she's in heaven with him. He's worthy. No matter what you're going through today, no matter what you walked in here with, no matter what burden you have carried, he's worthy. He's worthy. He's worthy.
What a beautiful presence of the Lord and what a wonderful opportunity to be able to be in the house of God. Amen. Amen. I'd like to say I'm thankful to have my babies with me here tonight. That was a surprise. So, I'm thankful to have them. I'm going to read a scripture and then you can be seated. My title is go. And we're going to be reading from Mark 16 verse1 15. And he said unto them, "Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature." You may be seated. This scripture is a part of the great commission. It's a command given by Jesus to his disciples. The great commission is a call and action for all believers. As followers of Christ, we are called to go out into the world and share the gospel with others. That means we must actively engage in the life of others. Go ye into the the world. Some are called to go into other countries and I thank God for our missionaries that do. They answer that call. But a lot of us are called right here in our world to reach our world. And that world consists of family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, and people we come in contact with and pretty much on a daily basis. Aren't you thankful someone shared the gospel with you? Just think about that. Who was it that shared the gospel with you? And I wish we had time to hear all the testimonies because I think we would be really, really fed and really uh encouraged and strengthened to just hear how each one came to Christ. But it's just beautiful. And the beautiful thing about that is once we are reached and then we reach others, there's no telling how many are are reached just by one individual. And I was thinking about this when we when I was praying about it and and um talking to the Lord about it. When my husband came to Christ, he was about 20 or 21. He was in the army in Hawaii and he had just received the Holy Ghost when he came here to Bible college. Now the man that won him to the Lord was he pursued him. He was determined he was going to win Mike Maguire to the Lord. And so, of course, Mike came. My husband doesn't remember his name. There's been no t contact since. That man never knew that my husband went to Bible college. He never knew that he married. He has a son now that's pastoring a church, a son that's leading the worship, a daughter that's already met the Lord. He has no idea. There are sometimes we're going to reach people, Sister Amber, and we may lose contact with them and we may never know what lives that they touch. But I can guarantee you, if they're on fire for God, they're touching lives. Amen. Amen. The gospel has been delivered to us and it's our responsibility to share it with others. The great Greek word for the gospel is youon gelon which means good news. We have good news to share. And right now In this world with all the negativity and the bad news, this world needs good news. And we have it. We have it. We have a hope because of Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection. Hope in Christ provides strength and comfort in the present while also looking forward to eternal life in him in the future. Hope in Christ is a present and eternal reality. So, thank God we have hope right now. Whatever we need in Christ, we have hope. And then we also have hope that one day we're going to see him face to face and live with him forever more. Amen. And that's a reason to be excited.
First Corinthians 15:19. If in this life only we have hope in Christ. We are of men most miserable. Now Paul is addressing the church at Corinth. This church was in the heart of the Greek culture. Many believers had a difficult time in believing in a bodily resurrection. So Paul wrote this letter to clear up this confusion. I I'm thankful that it's just not for here. I mean, that's the good news. It's not just for here. And I thank God that he's with us every step of the way here. But I also thank God that it's not over here. That we will see our Jesus one day. Jesus is coming back for his people. And so shall we ever be with the Lord. Amen. We can only imagine what heaven will be like. But we know there's not going to be any more tears, no more death, no more sorrow, no more crying, no more pain. Everybody will be happy over there. Our minds can't even kind of comprehend that, but that's the way it's going to be. There's going to be great joy.
James 4:14, whereas you know not what shall be on tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appearth for a little time and then vanishes away. And we're not here for very long. If we're here for a hundred years, that's nothing compared to eternity. So, we just have a little bit of time to reach our world. We just have a little time to reach out to individuals that we come in contact. And I'll be very transparent with you. Ever since my baby passed away, eternity is on my mind every day. Every day. Every day. I'm asking, it's changed me in so many ways. Every day, Lord, cleanse my heart. Cleanse my mind, my thoughts. I'm looking for people that I can witness to and minister to because I know that this life is short. I want to talk to you about being intentional when you go out. Now, uh just recently, I guess it was a couple months ago, I sent my sister a little picture. It was of Snoopy and Charlie Brown and they were in the bed and Charlie Brown looked at Snoopy and he said, "I'm not going out today." He said, "It's too peopleley out there." And we feel like that sometimes, don't we? I don't want to go out there. It's too peopleley out there. But the fact of the matter is, we're called to go out. Amen. We're called to go out.
Luke 19:10, for the son of man has come to seek and to save that which was lost. This is an intentional search. Jesus came. That was his his vision. He came to seek and save that which was lost. Make yourself available before you start your day. When you get up in the morning, just make yourself available. God, I'm yours. Whatever you want me to do, however you want me to minister today, look for opportunities to share Jesus. Share your story. Share your testimonies. Share the goodness of God. And find ways to connect with others. And I know sometimes we have to get out of our comfort zone to do that. But you would you would be surprised of how many people are looking for conversations and and they're just needing someone to to pour into them. Um and I'd just like to talk about this being intentional. Um for 30 years I've been seeing uh my doctor for 30 years now and I started seeing him after Lindsay was born. And of course, um, we would bring the kids at the earlier visits because they were younger. And so he kind of got to know our family and we would talk about his family somewhat and our family and that we celebrate our celebrations and and of course the sorrows, the trials, all those things. And um, for a long time I gave him Jesus. Every time I went, even if we had struggles or sicknesses or whatever, I'd always say, "But God did this or but Jesus." you know, I would just go in to give testimonies to God. And year after year, he never said anything really. He just listened. And about four years ago, I went into his office and had my appointment, was getting ready to leave, and he he said, "Can I ask you to do me a favor?" Well, that kind of caught me off God off guard because I wasn't expecting him to say that. And I said, "Sure, if I can do that, I I would definitely do that for you." And he said, "Could you pray for my family?" He said, "We're really going through it." He said it we're we need God's help. And honestly, I carry my little anointing oil in my purse and I'm always ready to pray. I was shocked. You know, we believe God's going to do it and then he does it and then we're shocked that he does it. And so I said, "Absolutely. I will pray for you and your family." And I got out in the car and I thought, "Oh my goodness, why didn't I pray for him right then and there?" And I called Jay and I. I said, "Jamin, can you believe I didn't pray for?" and I won't mention his name, but I didn't pray for my doctor. I said, "But on my next visit, he's going to get some prayer." So, we did. We went back uh the next three months, and I asked him how things were going. And he said, "They're not they're not going very good." And I said, "Do you mind if I pray for you?" I could barely get that out of my mouth. And his head was already bowed. And I just got my anointing oil out and I put it on him and I started praying for him. And he was very quiet. Quiet. He was very quiet but very reverent. And so that has opened up doors of opportunity. Now when I go to visit him, we have discussions. And he's opened up and he's told me he said, "I'm not like you. I don't do well with suffering. That's what hinders his faith and his walk with faith because he doesn't." He said, "I like to be in control." and he said, "I know God has the last say, and I don't do well with suffering, but we've had some wonderful conversations and God is working on him." Now, when our daughter passed away and I had my first visit with him, um I could hardly even talk when I had to tell him about Lindsay because he's known her ever since a baby. And I could tell, you know, his heart was reaching for me, but he didn't he didn't understand. He had not felt that pain. And so, um he, you know, he told me that he was sorry and you know whatever he could say he tried to encourage me. Three months later I went back to see him and he said I need to talk to you and he just started crying and he said since I have seen you my 23 year old daughter unexpectedly passed away. You know, when I started seeing that doctor 30 years ago and God put those divine appointments together, he knew at this time in the seasons of our life that my daughter and his daughter would be gone and he put our our lives together. And so we had a conversation and he said, "When I went to the cemetery for the first time," he said, "I was crying and I was heartbroken." And he said, "All of a sudden, I heard this sound." He said it was a wind. It was just so strong. And he said, "I looked around and there was wind no wind blowing and there was nobody else around except for a man that was taking care of the lawn." And he said, "You know what it sounded like? It reminded me of on the day of Pentecost with a rushing mighty wind that filled the house." And so I asked him, I said, "Have you ever read Acts 2:38?" And he said, "I've read it." And I said, "Well, that's real and it's for you." I said, "It's for you and you can have that." And so there was my opportunity and there was my go. I said, "Can I pray for you?" And he again, he agreed, "Let you know, you'd let me pray." And this time I just let the Holy Ghost go. I just spoke in tongues. I thought if you want a taste of it, you can get a taste of it. That's what Jesus does. That's what Jesus does. Even Even in these times where we're out and about and maybe we just don't even really feel like reaching out to somebody, God opens those doors of opportunity. Just recently, I had a hospital stay and uh it was on the day that I was getting discharged, a sweet little nurse came and she took care of me and we had the most wonderful conversations about the Lord and she ended up telling me, she said, "I know you think you're here for you, but God sent you here for me." And as it turns out, she's got a a a best friend that is Apostolic Pentecost. And this girl has moved here and she's looking for a church to go to. So, she's about 37 weeks pregnant right now. So, she's not wanting to come to church yet, but we're texting back and forth. We're giving scriptures, giving songs, and God is working on her. So, thank God. Thank God he's working and he's moving. Be intentional when you go out. And I want to share this one really quick, too. when my uh years ago when my father-in-law came to Christ, my my husband prayed for him for 19 years. He witnessed to his daddy for 19 years. And on the day that we went to minister to Glenn Maguire, it was at the VA hospital in Tucson, Arizona. Right next to his bed was another there was there was I think there was six beds, three on one side and three on the other side if I remember correctly. But on one side of his bed was there was a man there probably 70 years old. And uh when we began to pray for my father-in-law and he was asking my husband um he said, "Mike, 19 years ago, you told me you saw the light. What about it? I want to know about it." And it took 19 years for that door to open up. But God had that all worked out because when my husband was ministering to him, Lee put his he kind of sat up in his bed, put his legs down on the ground, and he said, "What does Jesus have for me?" that God is working. He's moving. And if we'll just walk through that door and we'll just let him minister through us, he's going to work and he's going to pour out his spirit. So, it was we were able because we were there for a little while, we were able to minister to Lee, his wife Jerry. My husband got them out on a pass from the hospital, took him to the church at Brother Connor's church in Tucson, Arizona, baptized them both in Jesus' name. They received the Holy Ghost and we kept in contact with them until they passed away. God deserves the glory, doesn't he? God deserves the glory. If we're just looking for ways that we can reach out to somebody, God's going to open up that door, but we have to be available.
Now, I'm going to read this story, and I know it's a lot of scriptures, but the word of God is alive, and it's powerful, and it's going to do more than me up here just talking. Okay? So, I'm going to read this and just just receive the meat of this word. God I'm going to be talking about divine appointments. God sets up these divine appointments and it's our job to keep them. John 4:1 through30. When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John, though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples, he left Judea and departed again into Galilee. and he must needs go through Samaria. Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Saikar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well, and it was about the sixth hour, which is noon. There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water. Jesus saith unto her, "Give me to drink." for his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat. Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest, drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? For the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans? Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou kneest the gift of God, and who it is that saith unto thee, give me to drink, thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. The woman saith unto him, "Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. From whence then hast thou that living water? Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?" Jesus answered and said unto her, "Whosoever drinkkeeth of this water shall thirst again. But whosoever drinkketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst, but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw. Jesus saith unto her, Go call thy husband, and come hither. The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, "Thou hast well said, I have no husband, for thou hast had five husbands, and he whom thou th now hast is not thy husband, and that saidest thou truly." The woman saith unto him, "Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet. Our fathers worshiped in this mountain, and that and ye say that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship." Jesus saith unto her, "Believe me, the hour cometh when you shall in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem worship the Father. Ye worship, ye know not what. We know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth. For the Father seeketh such to worship him." God is a spirit, and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. The woman saith unto him, I know that Messiah is coming, cometh, which is called Christ. When he has come, he will tell us all things. Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he. And upon this came his disciples, and marveled that he talked with the woman. Yet no man said, What seekest thou? Or, why talkst thou with her? The woman then left her water pot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, Come see a man which told me all things that ever I did. Is not this the Christ? Then they went out of the city, and came unto him. Wow, there's so much in that story, isn't there? So much. Well, the most direct and practical route between Judea and Galilee passed through Samaria. Many Jews would take a longer indirect route to avoid the region and its people who were deeply despised by them. Jesus' decision to travel through Samaria was not a geographical necessity but a divine appointment. He knew that he had to go through Samaria because he was going to meet that woman at the well. And when he did that, when he encountered her, he demonstrated his mission to reach all people. Now, she was um she was mixed. She wasn't all Jews. She was mixed. And so, the Jews despised them, the Samaritans. And so, they didn't want anything to do with them. And not only that, she also uh she she was a member of a hated mixed race. She was known to be living in sin and she was in a public place. But God, he he met with her. He knew exactly when she was going to be there. Can I tell you, when you have these divine appointments, God knows exactly when you're going to come in contact with that person. Even if it is 19 years, he knows. He knows. He He's already at the end of our lives. He's already there. Jesus knew he had to go through Samaria. It was by the well where he came in contact with a Samaritan woman. Twice each day, morning and evening, women came to draw water. This woman came at noon, probably to avoid meeting people who knew her reputation. You see, no respect, respectable Jewish man would take would talk to a woman under such circumstances, but Jesus did. Jesus did. We must be prepared to share the good news with anyone at any time and any place. We need to reach out and it does I know a lot of times, and I'm just going to be honest, a lot of times we look at people and we think um they probably don't want to hear the gospel. uh probably their age, they're set in their ways. Maybe they don't want to hear the h the gospel. Well, we know different, Sister Anne, don't we? And we know different, Sister Betty. God God is reaching every age. This man that my husband reached out to that was in the bed beside my father-in-law that we reached out to. This man told us that all he was probably in his 70s. He was in in a biker uh gang even. And he said that all his life he wanted to be a Christian. And he looked at Christians all his life and he always dismissed it and said, "I could never be like them. I could never be like them." But you know what? When Jesus got a hold of his heart and turned his world upside down and just gave him uh the good news of the gospel, do you know what he said he would do every morning when he woke up? Good morning, Jesus. And he would have a little talk with Jesus. He had a relationship with Jesus that he thought would never happen because of his long lifestyle. But God can go into any heart. And so when we look at people, we got to see them as Jesus sees them. Amen. And we got to follow that uncction of the Holy Ghost. What is the Holy Ghost saying, divine appointments will take us out of our way. They will take us out of our comfort zones. And they're going to take time away from us. I'm just going to be honest with you, and you know this already. But oh, the reward. Oh, the reward. And I'm going to uh kind of look at a couple of these verses here. Let's look at verse six. Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore being wearied with his journey sat thus on the well. It was about the sixth hour. It was at noon. There will be times in our journey when we will become weary and we will need to rest just like Jesus did. He was weary from that journey. He had been walking and he sat down and he rested. There are going to be times in your life where you're weary. There are going to be times in your life where you're going to be having to sit down and rest. But even in those times, there will be divine appointments. So you can look for them. Verse 29 and 30, the ladies, the woman at the well says, "Come see a man which told me all things that ever I did. Is not this the Christ?" Then they went out of the city and came unto him. The woman at the well had an encounter with Jesus and she connected him with those men. She gave her story. She started telling him, "He knew everything I did. Is this not the Christ? You've got to come and see him." When you start telling your story and you start telling your story that I got the Holy Ghost in the freezer at Chick-fil-A and you start telling your story that I got the Holy Ghost in a car and you start telling people where you got the Holy Ghost and how you got the Holy Ghost and what Jesus did for you, you're connecting them with Jesus and they're interested in that and they're going to come. The Bible says right here that they came to see him. They're going to want to see Jesus because you're sharing good news with them. Let me tell you about my Jesus. Now, when I think of this song, I think of Mila. Let me tell you about my Jesus. I love that song. Well, let me tell you about my Jesus. I once was lost, but now I'm found. I I'm a new creation in Christ. Old things passed away. All things have become new. I'm no longer walking in darkness. I'm walking in that marvelous light. Let me tell you about Jesus. When the when I'm grieving, my comforter comes to me. Let me tell you about Jesus. He said he would never leave me or nor forsake me. Let me tell you about my Jesus. He's met every financial need that I've had. Let me tell you about my Jesus. He's my everything and I want to see him and I want to keep walking with him and talking with him and I want to keep connecting others to him because he's everything we need. And I'll tell you, he's the only thing that will ever satisfy your soul. He's the only thing that will satisfy us. just recently and I I you I know everyone knows I've been grieving over Lynn and it's just been a year and I want to see her so bad. I can't wait to see her. But I just felt the Lord can just talking to me lately and saying, "Do you want to see me as much as you want to see her?" And and I've had to talk to him and say, "Yes, Lord. I started with you. It's just me and you on this journey. And at the end of life, it's going to when I take my last breath, it's going to mean me and you. So yes, I want to see you more than anything. And yes, you mean more to me than anything in this world. And when we feel like that, Sister Christie, we can connect others to Jesus.
Romans 10:14 and 15. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And shall how shall they preach except they be sent? As it is written, how beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace and bring glad tidings of good things. And this is messengers. We're messengers. Brother Bachmann just talked about it last week. We are all ministers. We're ministers of the gospel. And as I read these two scriptures, I'm compelled to go go share the gospel, spread the gospel. Uh, Pastor Brad asked me to to share some uh stories of local neighbors coming to Christ. And the first one I'd like to uh testimony I'd like to tell you about is our friend Darlene. She sits over here with my sister. I've known Darlene for 56 years. And Darlene has been my best friend from childhood since I was four. and her sister Diane was my and and is my sister's good friend. And so we've known them all that time. We lived next door to them 10 to 12 years, but when they did move away, we have stayed connected. And so just sharing times and sharing conversations. I've even had Bible studies with Darlene. And just at just the right season when she wasn't happy and she was needing God, she was desperately needing God, she started coming to church with us faithfully. And thank the Lord on Pentecost Sunday last year, she received the gift of the Holy Ghost. Isn't that awesome? And now she's bringing her niece Dustin and she received the Holy Ghost at the ladies conference. Darlene watched us all our lives. Gretchen, Sister Gretchen, Darlene and Diane Chapman watched my sister and I our lives and Sister Christy, we went through some trials and we went through some storms, but we were faithful to the house of God. Brother David Ray and his sister and his mom and dad would pick us up every service for years for several years until we came here. And so here we are and here's Darlene and here's Dustin. God's reaching people and he's touching lives by other lives. Amen. Amen.
And then I want to tell you about uh Tammy Payne couple uh several years back. Um she lived in our neighborhood too two doors down and we didn't know this till later but she said she was watching us for quite a while. She watched us go in the house, out of the house, walked, just watching us. And she her what we didn't know is her grandpa used to be, he's passed away now, but he was an apostolic pastor and she was not going to church at the time. And so God just tugged on her heart and um it just happened to be on a Sunday. We had gotten out of church. We went home, ate, and then got a good little nap. Those Sunday naps are the best naps, aren't they? We were napping and we hear, you know, doorbell and so my husband got up. Who's that? Who's that? Peaked out the window. He goes, "Honey, it's one of our neighbors." And so he watched her go back to her house and he said, "When we get up," he said, "I'm going to go and see what she wanted." Well, he did. And then that led to her coming here. Thank the Lord for that. And then also we have um our most current is Ashley, our next door neighbor. Ashley and Billy haven't lived by us for very long. maybe well probably about since 2017 I would think. I think think they moved in right about the time my husband got sick. So they moved in there and it was Lindsay that that started a conversation with Ashley and uh Ashley knew that Lindsay was sick and she knew that she was in and out of the hospital and so Lindsay just gave her a testimony and gave her a song and said Jesus is my fourth man in the fire. And Ashley said she started listening to the song and she kept watching us and we persevered even through Lindsay sickness and Mike sickness and she just kept watching us. And then when Lindsay was uh passing away and she was talking to us and expressing things that she wanted, she told my husband and I, she said, "Do not give up on Ashley." She said, "Please keep going after Ashley." And so we did. We pursued her. And uh as a matter of fact, my husband, she goes to Hope because it's five minutes away and and that's where she's attending our daughter work. But my husband told her, he said, "I will go with you." And with the So we worked on her for two months before she finally came and when she came to hope, she looked at Sarah and she said, "I'm only here because of him to shut him up." She said, "He won't stop asking me to come to church." And so, and she's on fire for God. Jayen could tell you, she is on fire for God. They just had um they had a school bash thing going on and they had all these people signing up and so they got their addresses, their names, and all that. They assigned Ashley to to make these calls. And so Ashley's making these calls and she's asking them, "Uh, is there anything I we want you to come to church, but is there anything I can pray about?" And she has this list, I mean, this list going on. this one's daughter died and this one is looking for a job and and and she's and so she's on a mission. She's going and praying for all these people. In fact, I gave her one of those little anointing bottle of oils I had and she called me last week and said, "Do you have another one of them? I've already ran out of it. I don't know how she ran out that fast, but she is on a mission." And then um I'll share this with you uh not too long ago. I have the date probably right here. Um, let me see. On May 4th, in the ladies class, I was teaching on divine appointments. And I talked to the ladies about when God gives a divine appointment, it's our job to keep that appointment. And so, I really poured into them. You know, you you make sure that you're reaching out, make sure that you're keeping these appointments that God is lining up for you. So, on the way, we went to eat after church and uh we went home and was ready for that good old Sunday nap again that we love. And uh just was getting ready to get our nap. Michael and Michael was having a connect group right next door at Ashley's house and the the the house was full and the cars were just lined up. In fact, when we were pulling in the driveway, I told my husband, "Isn't this wonderful? We've got a daughter work right here and they've got they've got all these people in the house and and all these cars lined up right here in our neighborhood, honey." So, we went in and uh we went to take our nap and Austin, he comes running in the house and he said, "Papa, papa, don't lay down yet." He said, "Daddy's going to be he's talking about angels and and and and they're over there wanting to hear your some of these stories about angels." And I said, "Baby, you go ahead and go. I'm gonna get my nap. You just go you go." I hate to admit it, but it's the truth. And so, he went on to talk about the angels, and I went to sleep. And when I woke up, there was a message from Ashley and she said, "Sue, are you awake yet?" I thought, "Oh, goodness." She said, "Are you awake?" She said, "My sister desperately needs to talk to you. She wants to talk to you." Well, first thing that came to my mind, divine appointments. Make sure you keep them. Amen. Amen. So, I said, "Ashley, if you can give me five minutes, let me get myself together and bring Lexi over and and I'll talk with her." And I'll tell you what's so beautiful. Lexi and and Ashley came to the house and um and I really didn't know Lexi, that's her sister, but she was pouring her heart out how she wanted to come to church, but she couldn't come to church and all these things she was struggling with and wrestling with. And while she's telling me the Holy Ghost speaks to me and gives me a scripture, and I won't share it because that kind of give you, you know, some of her struggles. So, I'm not going to share that. But the Lord immediately gave me a scripture and and I said, "I have a scripture for you right now. that's given it to me. And I gave her the scripture and when I did she her mouth dropped open, her eyes lit up and she pulled her phone out and she she showed me a picture of Michael preaching that morning and it was the same scripture on the screen. Confirmation. That's what Jesus does. That's what if we'll just do our little part, just like the the the the child with the fish and five loaves of bread, just do your little part and Jesus will multiply that. So, so my husband and I were talking to her and I asked I I asked her, I said, "Lexi, do you mind if we pray for you?" And I said, "And really, I'm just going to walk you through the prayer of repentance and and just show, you know, just kind of explain to you how you repent of all your sins. And God wants to fill you with his spirit. He wants you to give you power to overcome. And so we did that and and it was just a matter of minutes and Lexi began speaking in other tongues right there on our couch receiving the Holy Ghost. And of course Ashley saying, "Do you hear that? Do you hear that? Do you hear that? Do you hear that?" Well, I was wanting Lexi to say it for herself, but Ashley's saying, "Do you hear that? Do you hear that?" That's what Jesus says. And and really there's so many. We have um precious Muslim family living right next door to us and we've been friends with them. We were invited to their son's wedding. They were here for Lindsay's wake. They were here for another event. They they made food from Egypt for our t taste of the world. And God has been working in their lives. And I know we're coming to an end here. So I don't know if the music wants to come. I want to share this last part. When we went to pray for Lexi, Lexi asked us if we would come to her home and pray. That's how Ashley um got that little bottle of anointing oil. Me and Kelly, Ashley and Lexi were there and Lexi's children and Ashley's children. And we prayed over the door post. We prayed over the windows, the windows, and we just prayed all every room and throughout the house. the glory of the Lord came in there and and after we got finished praying, I think it was Kelly that said, "Let's pray for these kids, young kids, and they're going through a lot right now." And we started praying for them. The spirit of God came in so strong and Lex's little boy put his hands on his head. He just he was he was like, "Wow." And his ex words was, "This blows my mind." The little child that's going through struggles and pain and suffering. As a little child, the glory of God came in and minister to him. That's just what Jesus does when we'll just take the time and we'll just go out of our way and we'll we'll minister like Jesus wants us to go. And I'm going to end this with go to prayer. The Last point is go to prayer.
Matthew 9:37 and 38. Then saith he unto his disciples, the harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few. Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest that he will send forth laborers into his harvest. I know we've heard this so many times. We've had so many outreaches. We've had so many, you know, just encouraging us to go out and to touch our world. But I'm wanting to just p just kind of put this into you again tonight. Be open to reach your world. And I know you are. I know a lot of you are probably have people you're working with right now. But if you have somebody that maybe God's been talking to you about that you want to reach out to, but you're probably thinking they won't receive you or they don't want to hear the gospel, I'm encouraging you to take that step and reach out. The Lord spoke to me on it was on a Labor Day, the night before Labor Day, so in between a Sunday and Monday. Do you can you put that picture up there, Brother Jason? I don't know if it'll show or not. There's a picture I'd like you to see. It was in the middle of the night and um the Lord woke me up at 3:00 in the morning and basically said this. He said, "The harvest is ready. The labors are few. Would you pray that I'll send laborers into the harvest?" He said, "There are some countries that have never heard the gospel." And I can tell you that normally when the Lord speaks to me, it's 3:00 in the morning. I usually wake up and I begin to pray immediately. But my husband had, it was during the time my husband was sick. He was up and I was up all night with him. I'll just be honest. I was so exhausted I fell back to sleep. Normally that never happens, but I did. The next day I woke up, the kids were coming over and I started cleaning and tidying up. They were coming over for Labor Day. I went to the bathroom. I put these little TJ Maxx bags and what Walmart, whatever I have in the little trash bags and I put that in there and I went and made the bed and then I found a tissue and I went to throw the tissue in that trash can. And when I did, I seen this image on that TJ Maxx bag. Now, I know this sounds crazy and this sounds wild, but this is truth. And my children can tell you they've seen it theirelves and my husband. Somehow, God was able to pull that bag out and in and out and in and shadow it till I saw that image of that man on that bag. Now, this was by my bathtub and toilet. There was no picture of any man in that room that it could put on that bag. And when I seen it, the Holy Ghost came on me and the Lord spoke it again. Pray for laborers. The harvest is ready, but the laborers are few. Now, do you know what that says to me? Love. Britney, it's love. God went to great lengths to reach that man right there. I don't know if he's the messenger that was sent. I don't know if he's the one that was going to be filled with the Holy Ghost and win his family. I don't know. All I know is God showed me his face and he told me to pray for him. That's how much he loves that man. And you know what that tells me? that God loves you so much. There are times he may even send somebody in another country praying for you and you may not know. You might feel it, but you may never know.
If we could all stand, why do we go? Why are we intentional? Why do we keep divine appointments? Why do we go to prayer? Why do we wake up at 3:00 in the morning and we just start interceding sometimes for things that we don't even know? We're groaning in our spirit and praying. Why? Because of the love of Christ. That's why. So tonight, and I know this is a different kind of message, but it really is my heartbeat. And thank you, pastor, for asking me and particularly for sharing this. And if we know him, we know he loves. He loves people. He loves souls. And God's blessing us with a lot. I want to ask you if you would just raise your hands. Just close your eyes. You don't have to look at anybody around you, but make yourself available. God, I know I know, Lord, that we don't have a lot of time left. There are souls that are hurting. There are souls that need you, Jesus. And I'm going to be here, God. I'm making myself available to connect others to you, God. I'm opening myself to divine appointments that you can encounter others. Jesus name.
