Summary
Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.
Wanting to be noticed — and wanting to hide
- Some days a person wishes he could be invisible and get through the day without any problems or encounters with the enemy.
- Other days a person feels good, puts on a new outfit or tries a new hairstyle, and hopes someone notices the effort.
- Doing a good deed — like paying for the people behind you in a drive-through — a person wants the kindness noticed; doing wrong, the same person hopes nobody finds out.
- Even in serving the Lord there are days of hoping he sees all the effort put in each day, and days of slipping — not reading the Bible as he should — and hoping the Lord is not paying attention.
- But who wants to be overlooked when life is unraveling — when you reach out for someone to answer your cry and feel all alone?
Hagar in the wilderness — “Thou God seest me”
- Sarai, having borne Abram no children, gives her Egyptian handmaid Hagar to Abram as a wife, that she might obtain children by her.
- When Hagar conceives, her mistress is despised in her eyes; Sarai blames Abram, and Abram leaves Hagar in Sarai's hand to do as she pleases.
- Dealt with hardly, Hagar flees into the wilderness — pregnant, with no plan and no one to talk to, wanting someone to notice what she is going through.
- The angel of the Lord finds her by a fountain of water in the wilderness and asks where she came from and where she is going; she answers that she flees from the face of her mistress Sarai.
- The angel tells her to return to her mistress and submit under her hands, promising that her seed would be multiplied exceedingly, beyond numbering.
- She is told she will bear a son and call his name Ishmael, because the Lord has heard her affliction; the child would be a wild man, his hand against every man and every man's hand against him.
- Alone in a situation only Abram and Sarai knew about, with all hope seeming gone, she calls the name of the Lord who spoke to her: “Thou God seest me.”
Scriptures: Genesis 16:1-13
The eyes of the Lord are in every place
- The preacher reads that the eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good — there are all-seeing eyes in heaven that see every move we make.
- That is not meant to frighten: the same God who sees also heard Hagar's affliction in her wilderness.
- He testifies that he has felt like that woman — having done what he was supposed to do, yet everything went against him, in a drought with no place to turn and no one around who understood — and God spoke to him: child, don't worry, I hear your cry.
- The church too has called out to his name through its afflictions, and has experienced mighty moves of God time after time.
- It is no wonder Hagar gave the Lord that name: it symbolizes God's overriding compassion — it does not matter where you are in life, how far you have gone, or who has turned their back on you, God sees it all.
Scriptures: Proverbs 15:3
The names of the God who sees
- He thinks of the different names God is called by in the Bible, beginning with the Creator: all things were made by him, and without him was not anything made that was made.
- If God made you, he is not going to leave you — you cannot doubt that the God who created you is on your side.
- El Shaddai, God Almighty, appeared to Abram revealing himself by a new name; the name conveys majestic strength and being able to supply abundantly — in this very moment God can move a person from the desert to a mountaintop, or out of the valley onto dry ground.
- Jehovah Shalom, the Lord of peace, is for those with sleepless nights and things weighing on the mind who cannot find rest in the wilderness — he can give you peace.
- The I AM: sickness, disease, and what the doctors say cannot be healed may feel like your desert, but the Almighty can reach down and take cancer away.
Scriptures: John 1:3
Jehovah Rapha — the Lord who heals
- As Jesus passed by he saw a man who was blind from his birth, and his disciples asked him who had sinned, the man or his parents, that he was born blind.
- Jesus answered that neither the man nor his parents had sinned, but that the works of God should be made manifest in him — and that he must work the works of him who sent him while it is day.
- He spat on the ground, made clay of the spittle, anointed the blind man's eyes with the clay, and said to him, go and wash.
- The man could not see God even if God stood right in front of him, because he was blind — yet God did not overlook him because of his disability, his infirmity, or the state of his life; he had heard the cry and seen it all.
Scriptures: John 9:1-7
A personal God who is not caught by surprise
- God is a personal God: many are afraid to approach him with their problems, thinking the Creator does not want to hear them — but if he created you, he wants to hear from you.
- He knows your problem before you even ask his help; he simply wants you to come to him so he can show you that he has seen it all.
- Nothing catches him off guard: not losing your job last week, not a doctor giving you six months to live, not a landlord telling you to get out of your apartment, not a need for a financial blessing, not simply needing him to hold you tight.
- Whatever season you are in — flourishing at your job and climbing the ladder, or in a drought where as a Christian you cannot seem to get any closer to God — God still sees it all and knows why you are there.
- There is still a voice for every season and every part of your walk with Jesus, because God sees where you are; others may overlook you or forget you, but God never will — he knows what you need and gladly provides the comfort you are looking for.
He will not fail thee, neither forsake thee
- The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will not fail you nor forsake you — fear not, neither be dismayed, whatever tomorrow may face.
- He tells of a man who asked God for a promotion and received every promotion he wanted, then had it all stripped away — not realizing that what seemed to be a desert was God waiting to perform something even better than he had just experienced.
- Hagar did not realize God would visit her in the wilderness of all places; but on the mountaintop or in the valley low, God will still visit you and go with you.
- Be strong and of good courage; be not afraid, neither be dismayed in the time of heartache and trial, for the Lord thy God is with you wherever you go.
- We are not in the wilderness when we are in his sanctuary — his sanctuary is a holy tabernacle of refuge and protection — and the altars are open tonight for anyone who feels all alone to find God.

you know there's just something about the presence I was so close to not preaching in his presence but I believe God has spoken another direction to me but I don't want to take it lightly well God has blessed us with for the many opportunities that he has given us you know many people can't experience the freedom that we still have what we experience here tonight there are several people in this world that cannot say that they've experienced the love of God I'm telling you
I needed that I don't know about you I leaned over to brother Jason I said brother I don't know if I can preach after that but you know I'm gonna do my very best with a good Lord's will
but I'm gonna open up in a word of Prayer so I can allow you guys to take a seat very quickly but let's go ahead and lift up the names just one more time God we want to thank you once again Lord for allowing us one more opportunity God for another divine visitation from you here tonight but I pray that you would just give my voice strength Lord give me the words to speak into your congregation
but I pray that that you would give them ears to hear hear and a heart to receive tonight in your precious Holy Name we give you praise amen and amen you may be seated tonight
before I get too carried away I want to give honor and thank to our pastor in our Bishop I'm sad that our pastor is not here with us but you know I'm thankful that he has seen fit to ask me to step into and
let me tell you if you've not ever tried to step in for brother Josh or bishop hold them there's some big shoes to fill but I'm so thankful not only for them but for the leadership that this church has for the impact that they have on my life and my family's life and bare with my voice tonight I've already about lost it so that may be a good thing for you guys so I may be short winded
but I begin thinking on the thought the Lord who sees me I want you to think back in the time in your life you may be in the time of life right now where there was times when you didn't want to be seen not necessarily you was doing the wrong or necessarily you was doing something that she wasn't supposed to be doing but just simply a time that you just did not want to be noticed
there's been times in my life I've thought throughout the day you know what if I can just be invisible I might have a good day if I might get by today without any problems any encounters with the enemy I might be okay but you know there's time and life that we think hey I just want to be unnoticed today you know there's also times you wake up in the morning you're feeling great you're feeling grand and you're thinking I hope someone notices me today some of you might not have thought that but
you might wake up put a new outfit on you might try a new hairstyle and you look in the mirror and say you know what this really works I hope someone notices you put time and effort into something and you want to be noticed
but you know sadly a lot of times when you're doing wrong you would prefer to go unnoticed but then again on the flip side of things when you're doing all that you know to do you want to be noticed if you do a good deed throughout the day if you go through a drive-through and you say hey I want to pay for the people behind me you want to be noticed by doing that you want that tailor that you give that cashier the money too you want them to respond and say how nice you want someone to notice that you're doing something nice for somebody
but there's also times again that you do wrong unto other people and you're like I hope nobody finds out I'm here to tell you tonight that sadly in some situations you're not unnoticed but I do have good news also in some situations you are noticed all throughout life when I'm doing everything that I know to do for the Lord I'm thinking I hope he sees me I hope he sees all the effort that I'm putting in each and every day
but you know there might be times when I'm slipping up or I'm not reading my Bible like I should and I'm thinking I hope the Lord's not paying attention to me today I don't know if I'm just speaking to myself but but we begin to think about being noticed and you know that brings me to a very familiar passive of Scripture you know when you're when you're up to no good like I said you want to go unnoticed but
who wants to be overlooked when your life is unraveling right before your eyes like I said when you're trying all that you know to do and it seems like everything is going wrong you want someone to be there you want someone to answer your cry you want someone to answer that phone call that you reach out to a friend you don't want to go unnoticed in those situations where you feel like you're all alone I'm going to speak about tonight of a story of Hagar and this story is for everyone who's ever felt invisible and
I'm gonna begin my reading in Genesis chapter 16 verse 1 now sarah abraham's wife bear him no children and she had a handmaid an Egyptian whose name was Hagar and say rise said unto Abraham behold now the LORD hath restrained me from bearing I pray thee going to thy maid it may be that I may obtain children by her and Abram hearkened to the voice of Sarah
and Sarah Abraham's wife took Hagar see her made the Egyptians after Abraham how dwelt in 10 years in the land of Canaan and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife and he went into Hagar and she conceived and when she saw that she had conceived her mistress was despised in her eyes and say rah I said unto Abram my wrong be upon thee she begins thinking what have I done I have given my mate into thy bosom and when she saw that she had conceived when she saw that Hagar was able to give him something that she wasn't she began to regret it
and Sarai under Abram my wrong been to thee I gave them a dough to thy bosom and when she saw that she conceived I was despised in her eyes the Lord judge between me and thee but Abram said unto Sarah behold thy maid is in thy hand do to her as you pleased thee and when say right dwelt hardly with her she fled from her face
see in this passage of Scripture Sarah at first thought it was a good idea to get Hagar which was her servant to go in and to do the things and to give her husband a child because she could not do so and Hagar had a obedience unto her her Authority she said okay I'll do whatever you say so she thought that she was doing what she was supposed to so she listened
and he got to the point where she just kept harassing her and kept harassing her because she was jealous because in this sense she was no longer the primary wife unto Abram she was the second right behind Hagar but Hagar was doing simply what was asked of her and Abram said you know what
you seem furious but go ahead do whatever you need to do as you begin to harass her and Hagar could not take anymore she got to a point in the moment where she said it is not worth it I'm just gonna flee from thee I don't need this in my life so she continues to to go on into the wilderness
and the angel of the Lord found her in verse 7 by a fountain of water in the wilderness now Hagar goes into the wilderness with no kind of plan with nowhere to with nobody to talk to here she is just recently become pregnant I'm sure she's hungry I'm sure she's thirsty she's just wanting some help she's in a state of mind where she's saying I just need someone to notice what I'm going through I just need someone to appear on to me to help me in my situation
an angelic form a fashion that God Almighty comes to her in a fountain by the fountain of water in the wilderness by the fountain in the way to sure
and he said Hagar say rise maid whence camest thou and whither will thy go and she said I flee from the face of my mistress Sarah ha and the angel of the Lord said unto her return to thy mistress and submit thyself under her hands why I could only imagine being Hagar in that situation thinking Lord here she is mistreating me because I was obedient and you want me to go back and do what she tells me God had a reason for her situation God had a reason for the state a problem the state of the situation that she was currently in
and the angel of the Lord said unto her I will multiply thy seed exceedingly that it shall not be numbered for multitude all the children that you may bear for Abram I will exceedingly bless your family I will give you blessings that you will not be able to compare to if you just do what I say
but I want you to focus on these next few verses she was in the wilderness in a state of mind thinking that she was hopeless in a state of mind thinking I done what I was supposed to but yet Here I am in the desert Here I am in a dry land what am I supposed to do God what am I supposed to do I was simply doing what was asked of me but God appeared unto her in her agony in her pain in her confusion and she and he said if you just do what I say
and the angel of the Lord said on her behold thou art with child and shall bear a son and shall call his name Ishmael because the LORD hath heard thy affliction the Lord had heard thy affliction I want you to know to not Haggar that the Lord has heard your cry I want you to know that you may think you're in the wilderness right now but there is a purpose for it if you just go back to the land that I have told you to there is a reason behind everything because the Lord had heard the afflictions
verse 12 and he will be a wild man his hand will be against every man in every man's hand against him and he shall do well in the presence of all his brethren now listen to this this is where I want to start from verse 13
and she called the name of the Lord that spake unto her thou God seest me she referred to Jesus as thou God that see us me because she was in a situation that nobody else was around she was in a situation that only Abram knew about that only Sarah knew about she was in a situation that none of her family knew about but them - she was in a problem she seemed that all hope was gone
but yet someone appeared unto her in the wilderness and said don't worry someone and that someone was Jesus has heard the afflictions they'll God thou seest me my my my my
I jump over quickly to proverbs I believe it is verse 15 chapter 15 verse 3 and I want you to focus on this that this is really going to stick out later on in the message but the eyes of the Lord are in every place beholding the evil and the good do you remember earlier that I stated that at times you may have not been doing what you were supposed to but guess what they're all seeing eyes tonight there is all seeing eyes up in heaven that sees each and every move that we make
but I don't want to worry you I don't want to scare you tonight you may not be doing the right things lord help you if you're not you may not be where you need to be with God but I want to encourage you if you feel like you are hey you are tonight in the wilderness all alone don't worry because thy god has heard the afflictions do not be afraid because the god I serve is named thou God who sees me how powerful the eyes of the Lord are in every place you feel tonight that God doesn't see you
there's been situations in life that I have felt that God where are you I have felt like that woman I have felt that I've done what I was supposed to but yet everything went against me I felt like I had just went into the wilderness and nobody around understood
but then God always speaks up to me and says child don't worry because I hear your cry and I'm not just talking about me - no but I'm talking about our church God has heard our afflictions he has heard our coat our congregation call out unto his name each and every time we have experienced mighty moves of God time in and time out
but there has been a time when we have not failed him like we thought we should there has been times in my life that I have felt you know what I'm just in a drought I feel like I was without water I felt like I was without a place to turn to but there was an all-seeing eye that see me wherever I was hallelujah so I ask you tonight
is it any wonder while Hagar gave the Lord the name the God who sees me no it symbolizes God's overriding compassion that he has for us because they don't matter where you are in life it doesn't matter how far you think you might have gone it doesn't matter if it seems like everybody has turned their backs on you tonight God sees it all hallelujah
I begin thinking about all different types of names that God has referred to throughout the Bible and I'm probably about to butcher a lot of them but bear with me well anyways the Creator Bishop help me out there Eliam le home him anyways the creator but I'm going to go through these for a reason just bear with me
John chapter 1 verse 3 all things were made by him and without him was not anything made that was made I say that to say this you think tonight that if God made you that he's going to leave you do you seriously think on your Pew tonight that the situation that you're in that the God that created you is not on your side I mean come on people we cannot doubt God because he created us we cannot doubt that he left us because he created us
el shaddai the all significant one God Almighty he appeared to Abram revealing himself by a new name I am El Shaddai God Almighty in Hebrew the name conveys the ideas a majestic strength and being able to supply abundantly God can do anything and everything that he wants to at any given time so I'm here to tell you tonight that if you are in that desert guess what in this very moment
he can put you on a mountaintop in this very moment he can put you on dry ground if you're in those valley tonight hallelujah Jehovah Shalom the Lord of peace if you've had sleepless of nights if you've had things bogging on your memory on your mind weighing you down and you can't seem to find rest if you feel like you're in the wilderness because you cannot find rest guess what I know a god named Jehovah Shalom the God that can give you peace and we are all familiar of this one
the I am and the I am as many possiblities tonight you may have a sickness you may have a disease you may have an illness that the doctors say can't be healed you may think that is your desert you may think that is the dry place that you've ever been in but guess what I serve the I am I serve the Almighty tonight I know a God in heaven that can reach down and they can take cancer away hallelujah is anybody understanding what I'm trying to get across tonight it doesn't matter where you are in love right now my God sees it all
Jehovah Rapha the Lord who heals I quickly turn over to John chapter 9 verse 1 many of us may know this passage and as Jesus passed by he saw a man which was blind from his birth and his disciples asked him saying master who did sin this man or his parents that he was born blind jesus answered neither hath this man sinned nor his parents but that the works of God should be made manifest in him
I must work the works of him that sent me while it is day the night cometh when no man can as long as I am in the world I am the light of the world when he had thus spoken he spat on the ground and made the clay of spittle and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with a clay and said unto Him go and wash the eyes and thou shalt be healed
you say what tender wine did you read that passage I want you to think of it in this sense I look at passage of Scripture probably totally different than what a lot of people look at it but just think about it this man could not see anything
this man could not see God even if he was standing right in front of him because he was blind God did not overlook him because of his disability God did not overlooking and bill because of his infirmity God did not overlook him because of the state that he was in in his life but God said I have heard the afflictions I have heard that cry of thy parents I have seen it all hallelujah are you in need of a healing tonight or you simply in need of just a simple blessing
so God holds all these names and is in control of all things but also you've got to understand our God is a personal many people were so afraid to approach God with their problems where they may be out in life simply because they think you know he's the creator he's God Almighty he don't want to hear my problems but I'm here tonight if he created you he wants to hear from you if he created you he knows your problem before you even asked his help
but he simply wants you to come to him so he can verify to you that he has seen it all hallelujah but he has a personal God he sees where you are he knows why you are the here
it doesn't catch God by surprise that you lost your job last week it doesn't catch God by surprise that the doctor came in and only gave you six months to live it doesn't catch God outside when the landlord comes to you and tells you to get out of your duplex or get out of your apartment that doesn't catch my God off off guard tonight it doesn't catch him off guard when you're in need of a financial blessing it doesn't catch him off guard tonight when you just simply need him to hold you tight because thou God that we serve see us at all
so I'm quickly coming to a close I know I've not been long at all but I believe that God has spoken something to somebody but I want to leave you with this whatever season you may be in whether in this moment you think that everything is perfect that you're flourishing at your job that you're getting all the promotion's that you think you can get if you think that you're jumping up the ladder or if you think that everything seems to be perfect
guess what God still sees it all God knows why you were there God knows why you're getting those raises God knows everything but in a sense whether you're in need of a financial blessing God sees that also
whether you're on the flip side of things if things are going wrong God sees that God understands why you are going through that or you simply like I said already you may seem to be in a drought as Christians we seem at times that we just can't get to God any closer we can't get to him any longer we can't find him wherever we go you may be in that drought tonight but God sees that but don't worry because no matter where you are right now whatever season in life you may be in whatever state of mind you may be in in this very moment
there is still a voice for every season there is still a voice for every location in your life every part of your walk with Jesus that you may be in there is still a voice warning to speak to you simply because God sees where we are others may overlook you or forget you but God never will because he sees you he knows what you need and gladly provides the comfort you are looking for how many has ever just needed that comfort through the night I mean he has ever just needed God to simply whisper to you as a child it's okay I'm here
Deuteronomy 31 verse 8 and the Lord he it is he it is that doeth go before thee he will be with thee he will not fail thee northern forsake thee fear not neither be dismayed
so if you are worried don't fret if you are afraid what tomorrow may face if you're afraid that they may bound to leave you and let you go at work don't be afraid because God has a reason for what's about to take place just like hey go or she didn't understand but God I doesn't what my my my leader told me to but yet I am still in the wilderness you may be there tonight thinking but I've went into work every day gate all the half
me and my dad was talking about it the other just last night that there was this man that he put it he put a put a thing before God he said I'm going to do this and I want to get this promotion well he began to get every promotion that he wanted that he needed but all of a sudden all of it was stripped away he's my lord I pray for that and you gave it to me but why but he didn't realize it what seemed to be a desert was God waiting to perform something even better than he had just experienced
now we're bringing it home tonight if you're in the wilderness tonight oh yes I am speaking to someone tonight if you are that person said by the fountain of water than I said but I just need somebody I just need somebody to grab my hand and let me know it's gonna be okay god I've done all that I knew to do but yet it seems I got back to step with me don't worry tonight you are not alone
Hagar did not realize that God was going to visit her in the wilderness of all places she might have thought well maybe when everything's going right well maybe that'll be when God visits me but let me tell you don't matter throwing the mountaintop God will still visit you it doesn't matter if you're in the valley low to know my God will go with thee somebody please understand this preacher to the hut and they'll God that we serve that God that we talk about is all-knowing God is all saying God but he is a God that sees where you are Oh hallelujah
Joshua chapter 1 verse 9 have not have not I commanded thee be strong and of good courage be not afraid child neither be thou dismayed in the time of heartache in the time of trial for the Lord thy God is with thee wherever thou goest oh shut none of your cunning
yes folks I'm telling you that God is in this place I'm here to tell you tonight that we're not in the wilderness when we're in his sanctuary his sanctuary is a holy tabernacle of Refuge a protection I feel it through the Holy Ghost tonight and if you feel that you're all alone please find God don't let it pass you by tonight these altars are open these altars can be your family that you meet the LORD thy God now see us
