Introduced — and straight to the word

The cut opens on the host introducing the preacher (the host segment stands inside the span; see packet.md), with a playful résumé: he can speak to you as an evangelist, as a pastor, as an executive presbyter (captioned "presar"), as a member of the Home missionary board (as captioned), as a district superintendent, as Patsy's husband (captioned "paty's"), as a great deer hunter — "he just got all kind of things," but the main thing is "he's anointed of God, he's a church builder, and he's got a powerful word for us tonight: receive brother Huntley." Huntley's own first words complete the introduction's last line — "in the name of Jesus" — and take up the service: "and everybody said praise the Lord."
For the sake of time he goes directly to the word of the Lord, "for the conclusion of this dynamic service": "the hospitality is always impeccable here, and the kindness — and you always leave better after you've been at Because of the Times. Can I get a witness here tonight?"

The text read aloud: Peter at the gate

He turns the attention to his text: "the book of Acts chapter 12 is where I'd like to turn your attention tonight," and names the starting verse as he begins: "the book of Acts chapter number 12 and verse number 11." He reads the passage aloud, in order: Peter, come to himself, says he now knows of a surety (captioned "assurity") that the Lord has sent his angel and delivered him "out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews"; Peter considering the thing and coming to the house of Mary, the mother of John whose surname was Mark, where many were gathered together praying; the knock at the door of the gate, and the damsel (captioned "Roda") who came to hearken; her recognizing Peter's voice and, for gladness, not opening the gate but running in to tell how Peter stood before the gate; the praying church's answer — "Thou art mad"; her constant affirmation that it was even so; their "it is his angel"; and Peter continuing knocking, "and when they had opened the door and saw him, they were astonished."
He pauses inside the reading to preach from it: God wants to do some things tonight that, if we were told them, we would say "you are crazy — thou art mad."
He draws out the line the whole sermon builds on, and names its verse in speech: "I would like for you to note out of that 16th verse of Acts chapter 12 that the words 'the door' are in italics in my Thompson Chain King James Bible; they are in italics, which means they can, without damage to Scripture's validity, be excluded — and so the Bible said: when they had opened, they saw him. When they had opened, they saw him."

The subject announced — and the '06/'07 word

"So I want to preach tonight on the subject: openness — the key to miraculous manifestation." He repeats the subject (the repeat is split by the caption fragment "hallu"), has the congregation put their Bibles down and give the Lord a hand clap, and opens in prayer: "Father, we bless your name tonight."
The sermon's burden: in our consistent pursuit and total commitment to our desperate need of the supernatural power of God in this hour — everybody who has addressed this audience has alluded to it — the miraculous is "our most desperate need, but it's also God's delightful desire to bring his miraculous manifestation." What he addresses is "the most compelling restriction of the apostolic church at this time."
"That which we have ardently desired, undoubtedly believed, and enthusiastically acted upon shall inevit become reality." The word he felt the Spirit of God say to his own assembly at the beginning of the new year, said again here: "just because it didn't happen in '06 doesn't mean you don't need to talk about it in '07 — you need to say it again, you need to declare it again, you need to get excited again, you need to believe it again, you need to get a hold of it again."
"There must ever be an unclosable openness, regardless of the overwhelming odds, regardless of the circumstances, and regardless of the situation. We must always remain open to the miraculous manifestation and the divine demonstration and the sovereign supernatural ability of God. It's never too late for a miracle — it's never too late for a miracle."

Borrowed lines, credited — and a hole in one

He tells the congregation plainly that he is deviating from his practice: "It is rare when I preach at a convention that I ever use borrowed material. Now, it may be exceedingly shallow, but it's mine. But tonight I deviate from my normal practice and borrow a few lines from an extraordinary ministry of incomparable power and presence that has blessed us all." He gives the credit as he names it — "our dearly beloved bunch and breath" (9:01), and again, "let's give credit where credit's due: bunch and Breeze may be on the schedule tomorrow, so I borrow from them tonight" (both name forms as captioned; see packet.md) — "I don't steal much from preachers unless it's the epitome of excellence."
The illustration is his own story, told "in an unadulterated, unenhanced, unedited way of how it exactly happened," with witnesses he names into the record: "my dear friends brother Mark Foster and Brother David henan" (the surname as captioned; see packet.md) "were with me." It was during General Conference, on a Sunday morning in Nashville, Tennessee, right after brother Tenny had preached; church had started late because of a football game in town, and in the fellowship time he took the blame: "let's go play nine holes of golf."
He did not start playing until he was 50 — "I felt it was an old man's game" — and he has since been told the chances of a hole in one are one out of 10,000. At a par-three, 125-yard shot, Foster hit, the hacker hit, "Brother David henan" hit; arriving at the green disgusted to find only two balls on it, he walked by the cup — walking by Brother keys, as captioned — looked down, and said, "hey, somebody left the ball in the cup." He picked it up: "look, guys, it's the same kind I—" and Foster came unglued, screaming that he had got a hole in one (captioned once "a hold in one"). His own first response was disbelief: "all right, which one of you put that ball in that cup?" Then the course pro slid up in a cart, having seen it go in, and verified it (captioned "verify a hoing one").
The point he preaches from it: "I had so resisted the possibility of such a thing ever happening to me that my mind was totally closed to the most remote possibility that this could and would be true. So I set up a defense to struggle against what was really what I never dreamed I'd have all my life: that this can't be real."

Open to the possibility

"I now preach to those among us who have come to Because of the Times with close hearts, closed minds, closed eyes, closed spirits, to the absolutely phenomenal, miraculous, supernatural things that God wants to do in your life. You got to be open to the possibility that it could happen, because openness is the key to miraculous manifestation."
God is looking for somebody who will step out of the mediocre, the mundane, and the common and declare: "I believe it could happen; I believe it will happen; I believe it is happening." Somebody open to the possibility, the probability, the potentiality of the power and the promises of God: "my God can do anything; my God can do it anywhere; my God can do it for anybody. Somebody's got to get open."
"We need a Holy Ghost deliverance from stinking thinking, negativism, little faith, small vision, low levels of satisfaction, and believe that God can do anything."
He tells the spies' story as the counter-example (told, never cited — see packet.md): Israel sent twelve spies; ten came back — "we often say they had a negative report, but the Bible said they had an evil report. Evil, because negativism is evil in the sight of God — and evil is fearful, because it's only one letter from the devil: you put a 'd' on evil and you got devil." If you asked for the names of the two who said "we can" — Joshua and Caleb — they are almost inseparable; but who could name one of the ten who said "we can't"? "Who cares about folks who say we can't do it? Who cares about folks that say it can't be done?" Preachers need God to baptize their brains with a "we can" (captioned "weak can") attitude.

"It may be": Jonathan

"Jonathan and his armor bearer were outnumbered; they were trapped; they were surrounded. But in 1st Samuel 14 and 6, Jonathan won a major victory over the Philistines when he spoke three words — small words, but giant words — when he said to his armor bearer: 'it may be.'"
"On the power of 'it may be,' they won a major victory for the people of God, just on three words: it may be. He introduced us to the power of possibility, and introduced himself to the power of possibility, because he opened the door to divine demonstration and the miraculous manifestation of God by simply saying, 'it may be.' It just may be; it just could possibly happen; it just could possibly take place, right here, right now."

Mary's openness — and Joseph's

Mary is his second example (the annunciation is told, and her answer quoted, without its book ever being named — see packet.md): "she was chosen and challenged by God — a youthful virgin named Mary, highly favored of God, just a teenager — but God chose her to be involved in bringing a Savior to her world and to our world. And for this to happen, she had to be open. God said, you're going to have a son; she said, how can this be, I don't know a man. But Mary made herself available to a possibility: she said, nevertheless, 'let it be unto me according to thy word.'"
What God wanted to do with Mary "had never happened, never, and would never happen again. Mary had no support groups; Mary had no peers; Mary had no companions; no one could say, 'I know how you feel.'" It should be easy for apostolics to believe God for what thousands have experienced — receiving the Holy Ghost, being healed — but the challenge he has come with tonight is the unprecedented: God has come to Because of the Times looking for somebody he can do something with and through "that never has been done." Most of our challenge is to keep up with each other, to stay with the flock; but God said, "Mary, I've chosen you; I'm going to give you an opportunity that I'm not giv to just anybody." So with the apostolic church in this hour: "an unprecedented opportunity of worldwide revival, blessings like we have never seen before, miracles like we've never seen before, Holy Ghost outpouring like we've never seen before."
"I don't think we do anybody a favor by talking them out of their zeal. You let God determine how long it's going to take. God may want to do something in your city that never has been done before and may never ever happen again — but somebody's got to be open. Somebody's not going to be shocked when they see the ball in the cup; they're going to say, 'I knew it was going to happen; I knew God could do it; I knew God was going to bring my miracle; I knew God was going to answer my prayer.'" He has the congregation stand — "don't get your hopes up, I ain't quitting" — and gives his reason there are so few Marys: "you know why we don't have Marys among us? Because we got too many abortionists beside us; we got too many killers." A lot of folks want you to do good "as long as you don't do too good — 'cause if you do too good, you got to be cheating somewhere."
"I'm going to tell you who the hero, in my estimation, of the birth of the Messiah was: it was Joseph." Joseph, told of the pregnancy with everything pointing to unfaithfulness, is ventriloquized giving her his release — and then the angel came: "Joseph, wake up, son: something's happening that's never been done." God is going to have to send some angels in here tonight to let us know "it's all right — it's all right to be the biggest church in town; it's all right to baptize the mayor; it's all right to baptize the senator; it's all right to be on the headlines."

Releasing others — and the gifts operate

The Josephs are the sermon's ask: "we need some marries here tonight, but more than that, I believe we need some Joseph — some people that would say, I don't understand it; what's happening at your church it's beyond me, but I am releasing you, even though nobody's ever done it, although no one's ever seen it. I am releasing you, my brother: go ahead and give us a Messiah; give us a miracle revival; give us a phenomenal move of God." The congregation is turned to one another: "in the name of Jesus, I loose you" (the repeat is captioned "iose") — "go ahead and pack that building out; go ahead and buy that property; go ahead, build that church; go ahead and have that miracle. I loose you, because I believe God can do anything. I'm not going to criticize you, Mary; I'm not going to question you, Mary; I'm going to rejoice that prophecy is being fulfilled in you."
"It's time we quit holding each other back." To the Marys — the "marry ministry," as captioned — the word from this meeting is: "we're not going to doubt you; we're not going to fight you; we're going to celebrate you. So step out and go ahead and say, nevertheless, according to thy word. We're going to love you if your church is three times as big as ours; we're going to love you if you preach every camp meeting in the UPC; we're going to love you if you preach every conference that's coming or going and we just get to watch you. But somebody is going to do something and have something that's never been done before."
The loosing is then spoken over named people, all as captioned (see packet.md): "in the name of Jesus, I loose you, brother Kenzie, and the miracle apostolic ministry that God has put in your mind"; "missionary Hopkins, we're going to believe God that God's going to use you like no missionary has ever been used"; then the missionaries by their fields — in Africa, in China, in India, in the Pacific, Central America, Europe, the Middle East (captioned "midd East") — "I loose you in the name of Jesus to do what God has called you to do."
The congregation answers in the refrain: "I'm open to it" — to thirty acres, a new building, a harvest like never seen, an anointed ministry never had: "but you got to be open to it." If God wants two services on Sunday, a move into the Coliseum, the biggest church in town, a thousand-soul revival — "I'm open to it."
"Brother Mitchell is in the metropolitan area of New York; God is giving him favor. I want to go on record that the preachers and wives are because of the time are loosing (captioned "loosen") him to have the ministry God wants him to have." Hands are laid on neighbors: "I loose you to be blessed; I loose you to have a miracle; I loose you for the supernatural." The Jonathan words come back as the response: "can somebody start saying, 'it just might happen'? Could somebody start saying, 'it just may be'?"
"Brother kilar" (as captioned), loosed "to bless Houston, to be used of the Holy Ghost." Then the thanks to Joseph: "thank you, Joseph — you never questioned Mary; you believed God; you had an angelic visitation, and you helped the world get a Savior (captioned "a SA") because you were open to it."
He calls a missionary to jump out in the aisle and say, "I believe in a year we can have a hundred" — and answers the objection himself: "you say, that's crazy — that's what the praying Jews said when Rhoda (captioned "Roa") said Peter's at the door." (The callback is to the read text; see packet.md.) "My job tonight is to convince you: your answer is here." Hands are lifted to loose POA itself, "and God, I loose brother Anthony manga (as captioned) tonight to be used in the Holy Ghost like nobody's ever been used, and maybe never will be used, for the glory of God."
From there the service moves into congregational ministry under his direction (see packet.md): a prayer direction is given whose wording stands garbled in the captions (43:55), and he sends the church out to one another — "come on, gifts operate… don't head for the restaurant yet; come on, balcony, walk over to the other section and release somebody… that's it, that's the gifts operating. Go ahead, go speak a word to somebody; let the word of knowledge operate right now. You may not even know the person — go build their faith. Let's be Joseph tonight: go to somebody you don't know and say, I release you in the name of—" The capture's last lines complete it: "in the name of Jesus" (45:51–45:54), two seconds before the video ends.

father we bless your name tonight and the church shouted amen am God bless you and may be seated in our consistent Pursuit and total commitment to our desperate need I don't think anybody would have to be a private detective to understand that God has been speaking to us I about our need of the supernatural power in this hour right everybody that has addressed this audience has alluded to the need of the supernatural work of God in the church it is our most desperate need but I'm happy to tell you it's also God's delightful desire to bring his miraculous manifestation that's right and so I would like to address what I feel tonight tonight to be the most compelling restriction of the apostolic church at this time all right let us revisit and get a fresh grip on this reality that which we have ardently desired undoubtedly believed and enthusiastically acted upon shall inevit become reality I felt the spirit of God at the beginning of the new year to say this to our assembly and I want to say it to you tonight God said just because it didn't happen in ' 06 doesn't mean you don't need to talk about it in ' 07 he said you need to say it again you need to declare it again you need to get excited it again you need to believe it again you need to get a hold of it again would somebody shout amen amen there must ever be ever be an unclosable openness regardless of the overwhelming odds regardless of the circumstances and regardless of the situation we must always remain open to the miraculous manifestation and the Divine demonstration and The Sovereign Supernatural ability of God what I'm saying is it's never too late for a miracle it's never too late for a miracle now I ask you to indulge me as we drift off just a little bit here into something you may not be a little bit used to but I want to slip into it it is rare when I preach at a convention that I ever use borrowed material now it may be exceedingly shallow but it's mine but tonight I deviate from my normal practice and borrow a few lines from extraordinary Ministry of incomparable power and presence that has blessed us all so pardon me as I borrow to illustrate this point the words of our dearly beloved bunch and breath see I don't steal much from preachers unless it's the epitome of Excellence so let's give credit where credits due bunch and Breeze may be on the schedule tomorrow so I I borrow from them tonight to say this go ahead and give them a hand man I love them you do too so I borrow from them to say this I don't usually play golf but I happened upon some of my friends that wanted to go and so I conceded to go with them no really it was my idea but the truth of the matter

is we went and since this event I have been told that the chances of a person getting a hole in one in golf is one out of 10,000 and I did I didn't start playing golf till I was 50 because I felt it was an old man's game and since I have arrived I I need a little Fellowship I want to tell you the story in an unadulterated unenhanced unedited way of how it exactly happened all right and I wax bold tonight to even bring into this crime some witnesses my dear friends brother Mark Foster and Brother David henan were with me I fast you seat but I'm fixed to carry out into some real you're going to start ripping your clothes and throwing dirt when I tell you this it was during General Conference ushers don't let them out yet lock the doors it was right after brother Tenny had preached I was in church on Sunday morning we were in church on Sunday morning I heard brother Tenny preach Sunday morning there was a football game in town that night so Church started late it was in Nashville Tennessee and so we had a little time for fellowship and I'll take the blame let's go play nine holes of golf so we went we were at a par three 125 yard shot brother Foster hit his ball he's a good golfer I'm a hacker I hit and then Brother David henan said where did Wayne's ball go Mark said last time I saw it he was headed for the cup that didn't mean anything so brother henan hit his ball and we drove down there and when we arrived at the green I was disgusted because there was only two balls on the Green and I walked across the green and I thought I had something decent going on here I should have known so when I walked by the cup now I got to tell you one more time I'm telling it to you just like it happened folks I walked by Brother keys and I looked down the cup and I said hey somebody left the ball in the cup stay with me now I picked that ball up I said look guys it's the same kind I here I'm telling the truth when I said that in his uncharacteristic way brother Foster came unglued I mean I'm not a golfer one time I was playing with him and I got an eagle and when I got that eagle brother Foster screamed Eagle I said where when he saw that my ball had gone in that cup he just started screaming wait you got a hole in one you got a hold in one I said all right which one of you put that ball in that cup telling the truth and about that time here come this cart sliding up behind us this guy got out he said who got that hole in one he

said they said he did the guy said well I'm the Course pro and I will verify a hoing one cuz I saw it go in the hole but I had so resisted the possibility of such a thing ever happening to me that my mind was totally closed to the most remote possibility that this could and would be true so I set up a defense to struggle against what was really what I never dreamed I'd have all my life that this can't be real I now preach to those Among Us who have come to because of the times with closed Hearts closed minds closed eyes close spirits to the absolutely phenomenal miraculous Supernatural things that God wants to do in your life you got to be open to the possibility that it could happen because openness is the key to miraculous manifestation God is looking for somebody that will dare to step out of the mediocre now the mundane and the common and declare you know what I believe it could happen you know what I believe it will happen you know what I believe it is happening God's looking for somebody that will be open somebody that will be open to the possibility somebody that would be open to the probability somebody that would be open to the potentiality of the power and the promises of God that my God can do anything my God can do it anywhere my God can do it for anybody somebody's got to get open we need a holy ghost deliverance from stinking thinking negativism little faith small Vision low levels of satisfaction and believe that God can do anything I wish somebody would jump up and shout God can do anything Israel sent 12 Spies H 10 came back and we often say they had a negative report but the Bible said they had an evil report right evil because negativism is evil in the sight of God W and evil is fearful because it's one only one letter from the devil you put a d on evil and you got devil and when you get Negative you're getting close to the devil for the promises of God in him yeah area and they are amen if I ask for the name of one of the spies that said we can come on it'd be a real challenge for you tonight that's good to not say Joshua and Caleb right if I ask you for one of the ones that said we can you put them together they're almost Inseparable but if I ask you for one of the names of the

there should be no challenge to people being healed by the power of God in our churches there should be no challenge to a mighty Revival but what I've come to challenge you with tonight is this that I believe God has come to because of the times looking for somebody right that he could do something with and through that never has been done most of our challenge is to keep up with each other on most of our challenge is to stay with the flock to stay with the pack but God said Mary I've chosen you I'm going to give you an opportunity that I'm not giv to just anybody I've chosen you for this opportunity I really believe God has chosen the Apostolic Church in this hour for an unprecedented opportunity of world wide Revival blessings like we have never seen before Miracles like we've never seen before Holy Ghost outpouring like we've never seen before God's looking for some somebody that he would like to do something in them that has never happened before and very possibly would never be done I understand encouragement I understand maturity but I don't think we do anybody a favor by talking them out of their Zeal I don't think we do anybody a favor by tell now look don't expect too much here right off the bat you know it's going to take a long time you let God determine how long it's going to take God may want to do something in your city that never has has been done before and may never ever happen again but somebody's got to be open somebody's not going to be shocked when they see the ball in the cup they're going to say I knew it was going to happen I knew God could do it I knew God was going to bring my miracle I knew God was going to answer my pray stand with me just a moment don't get your hopes up I ain't quitting you know why we don't have Marys among us because we got too many abortionists beside us that's right right we got too many killers right this is a revelation I just got lately and it probably ain't profound to you but I'm seeing it happening that's it a lot of folks want you to do good long as you don't do too good they want you to do good but let's don't do too good CU if you do too good you got to be cheating somewhere can somebody understand Mary I'm going to do something in you that nobody has ever experienced before and I've chosen you that nobody else is ever going to experience it I believe there's people in this room that God wants to do something in that will blow the minds of the apostolic church that will profoundly affect us
